Warwick San Francisco
About Warwick San Francisco
Just 5 minutes’ walk to Union Square Park, this luxurious boutique hotel blends San Francisco Victorian décor with modern amenities like free WiFi in all rooms. A European bar, lounge and restaurant are onsite. Warwick San Francisco hotel is a captivating reflection of the city in which it resides, striking a perfect balance between authentic history and modern hospitality. Ideally located on Geary Street, just steps from bustling Union Square, the Theater District, and its world-class shopping and landmark attractions, this luxury boutique hotel is a residential-style hideaway in downtown San Francisco. Notably, the Warwick shares the same architect as San Francisco’s Coit Tower and City Hall, Arthur Brown Jr. Affectionately called the “The House of Sunshine”, this Beaux-Arts style hotel was established in 1913. Guests need to venture no further than the lobby for a taste of San Francisco. Indulge innovative Spanish tapas at the BOTA, or sample one of our curated cocktails at our bar, The European. In its simplicity and grace, Warwick San Francisco does not dictate the experience of its guests; rather it serves as an elegant backdrop for their own distinct story to unfold. Classic Victorian blue and white décor, blended with modern design elements such as, built-in USB ports, a flat-screen TV and a docking station are featured at Warwick San Francisco. A stylish gray sofa bed is featured in the spacious living room of select suites. Concierge services are available to help guests reserve priority seating at Aveline and other nearby attractions. San Francisco International Airport is 20 minutes’ drive away. Moscone Center and the Yerba Buena Gardens are within 6 minutes’ walk of the Warwick San Francisco.

Reviews
The hotel is in a prime location, close to Union Square and public transport, offering good value for the price. However, the condition of the hotel is a common complaint, with many guests noting the need for upgrades and cleanliness issues.

The hotel was pretty nice however some awful pipework noise kept reoccurring throughout the night. We stayed for two nights and could not get more than a couple hours of sleep uninterrupted. The hotel itself was a very pretty building, great location to union square, friendly staff and excellent breakfast at the on site restaurant.
- 4.5/5
The location was great. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and the staff really nice and very helpful. The washroom in the bedroom was really nice but a bit small.

The neighborhood wasn't really family friendly and the hotel was under renovation, which it is really in need of. If traveling with kids like us (15 yr old son) we wish we'd had chosen a different neighborhood. The air did not work so we had to crack the window and use a fan, which seemed to be the best they could do with being booked to capacity. The homeless population is heavy in this area, we learned as we ventured out. So sad.
- 3/5
Valet parking is too expensive, rooms are too small, no workout facility, spa, pool, etc. Overall, very expensive for what we got.
- 4/5
The location is great. The staff has always been so kind. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Only one bell hop and I really needed help. Got to room and the armoire was broken and couldn't get open to hang my dreseses. Some lights did nt work. There were many electrical outlets but only half worked! Need to call for ice to be delivered and seem short on staff. Signs say Under Construction which was not advised during booking!! However my room on 7th floor was quiet and bed comfortable. Parking is hard and Valet is expensive but it is San Fransisco! There is coffee maker if you can find an outlet that works. They charge a daily resort fee which I saying it is a resort is a reach.

Stay here over Memorial weekend! Great service, check in process a breeze and property was up to expectations! Definitely will keep in mind next SF trip! Felt safe and close to transportation!

the location is excellent, next to union square, a strategic location to move everywhere in SF. The room was pretty good it has everything you need. The bed was awesome really confortable. The staff was really helpful every moment. The sink was outside the bathroom. There was no breakfast included for the price.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly, helpful and understanding. I wasn’t told by Booking.com that there is no free parking. I had to pay an additional $70 to have my car parked whether I used the valet or not.
- 2/5
The property is situated in a nice area between high-end shopping district and historical sites. It was easy to navigate to any part of the city from the hotel. The attached restaurant was very good although expensive. We arrived in a room that was on the second floor. We could smell urine and other strange smells coming from the street even though the windows had remained closed. Our bathroom fan didn’t work so black mold was in certain areas, mainly around the tub, ceiling and along the baseboards in the bathroom. The bed was fine, but firm. The icing on the cake was the smell of cat urine on the carpet, which we decided was more than enough to request a room change. The staff was accommodating enough to put us in another room on a higher floor where the smell wasn’t present, but again, the bathroom fan didn’t work and the mold was present again. The property did not offer any amenities outside of the room. Even inside the room, there was a mini fridge and a small outdated flatscreen.

Check in was easy and staff very helpful. Free daily glass of wine was a nice touch. Unfortunately you need to be careful at night as there is a large number of homeless people roaming the streets a block over if you happen to turn right out of the hotel.

I was really impressed by the property. The corner room, even one floor above street level, was surprisingly quiet. Exceptionally clean room, updated bathroom. 2 out of the 3 desk agents were wonderful. I would absolutely stay here again

The room I booked has a bad leak from the ceiling in the bathroom. They gave me a new room and the AC didn't work and was a lower quality room than I originally booked. Also there were bugs, I believe cockroaches. I only saw 2 though. We were so tired, I didn't ask for another room. The staff was very polite and I asked for more towels once and ice twice. They came quickly.

This is our second stay at the Warwick since 2022. For our purposes, it served well. Very central to everything, walkable to many attractions. However, we have noticed how dirty the sidewalks are in the area, mainly of dog poop, which is quite gross. You feel the need to boil your shoes when you get home. But that is of no fault of the Warwick. The restaurant and bar are great. The tapas sized plates are ideal for a snack, or getting a bunch to satisfy a dinner portion. Very friendly staff at all hours of the day! Good times overall!
- 5/5
Didn't try the food there but it seemed good since there was always people in and out if the place. Bar was nice and clean and good service.. just didn't like the parking.. you have to pay extra for parking it's not included and it's around the corner from the hotel.
- 5/5
Clean and great walking distance to Japan Town...
- 4/5
Room was great and clean, amazing ambiance. Staff was always able to answer any questions. Both the restaurant and the bar were alright. A little noisy from outside noises, but otherwise a great place for a good price.
- 3/5
But the staff was wonderful, very nice, even the restaurant staff. Room was great. Just wish the bathroom had a sink instead outside the bathroom. But my partner and I enjoy the stay overall

Very charming hotel. Clean.. smelled good... extremely attentive and friendly staff. Not a bad thing to say. Highly recommend for cleanliness, service and location.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly. Love that they had happy hour every day during our stay.
- 4/5
The staff was great and the room itself was decent, kind of a musty smell but everything felt clean. The reason I’m rating 4 stars is because this was the NOISIEST hotel stay I’ve ever had in SF, and I’ve stayed at many SF hotels. The street outside was LOUD ALL NIGHT, into the early morning hours. I had to be up at 4am for a surgery and I don’t think I slept longer than one hour, and it was just a Wednesday night. Loud music, cars honking, people yelling. Constantly. This is obviously not the hotel’s fault, but I do think people should know before they book.
- 1/5
Being that we were so tired from our flight we just accepted whatever room they gave us. As we walk in to out room, first impression was terrible. The couch and chair had unspeakable and unidentifiable stains as well as the bed. Everything was outdated and dirty we did not feel comfortable even sitting on the bed. As if the rude customer service and broken promises weren’t enough. The room was disgusting. It was so bad we ended uo leaving and driving down 3 minutes to the Hilton for double the price but 100x better room. DON’T STAY HERE UNLESS DESPERATE.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable
- 5/5
My stay here was absolutely amazing! The staff were so kind and welcoming, the room was spotless, and every little detail made me feel cared for. The atmosphere was peaceful, the amenities were top-notch, and I truly didn’t want to leave. I’ll definitely be coming back. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort and quality!
- 5/5
Nice hotel
- 5/5
This remains one of my favorite places to stay in the city. 💙 No detail is overlooked. It always feels so decadent yet so welcoming! The staff treat you like you matter. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The location simply can’t be beat! I always leave wanting to go back soon!
- 3/5
Water pressure low, mattress lumpy and soft, otherwise clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Great stay. Great service and hospitality.
- 5/5
Hotel Warwick was very nice to stay and hotel staff was professional and helpful
- 5/5
Great hotel and staff
- 3/5
Great location walking distance to all the attractions! Little outdated and small rooms. Car valet service is horrible, my husband and I waited over an hour to get our car!
- 5/5
The neighborhood is somewhat off-putting, but staying at the Warwick was worth it. The staff was friendly, and we were offered free drinks at the bar at the end of each day. The rooms were quite spacious for the price -- and well laid out. I'd happily stay there again.
- 2/5
Got rid of microwaves (previously had these available), and would not warm up anything. Refused to give drink (paid for in resort fee). Threatened my partner for her service dog, which is illegal.
- 4/5
The tv wasn’t working properly but the rest was great
- 5/5
Absolutely lovely staff!
- 5/5
Will definitely be back & recommend!

Awesome stay
- 4/5
I came for a very busy weekend and the staff had it in for them. I had to wait a little bit for my room, but I did get there very early so I did get checked in on time. I just couldn’t get in any earlier because the room was not ready. But everyone was very friendly throughout the weekend and the staff was very attentive. I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Very sketchy at night but thats just downtown has nothing to do with the hotel. Has a bar in the lobby but closes early. Smallest tv ive ever seen in a hotel. Service was really good. Bed was very comfortable. Walking distance to a lot of attractions. Would stay again.
- 3/5
Room was nice but not as nice as advertised in photos. Staff was very friendly though and room was clean.
- 4/5
The Warwick is in a great location during the day but it gets a bit dodgy at night. The room and hotel decor were very cool. Nice bed and shower. Rooms on the back of the hotel are very loud due to the many dumpsters.
- 5/5
Had a fantastic stay! The Warwick is everything that we expected more.
- 5/5
I checked in after midnight, and there was no issue at all. A friend joined me a couple days into the trip and was able to utilize the valet parking service with no problem, which was a minor concern for us since she wasn't on the reservation. The room was cute, if a little small, and the beds were moderately uncomfortable, but overall, it was just fine. The only hiccup is that when I reserve the room, I selected the option to pay the bulk of the reservation fee upfront so that I would only have to pay about $100 at the property itself. However, I was never charged for the upfront fee and ultimately had to pay the full price at the property, which was complicated my budget for the trip.
- 5/5
We booked a suite and it was lovely. Two bathrooms were nice in the suite. No issues.
- 5/5
Thank you
- 2/5
I booked this stay in hopes to have a fun get away for my birthday. Which ended short due to plumbing issues. The staff were aware of this problem and they showed no urgency to inform us that this was going on. We got back to our room with thick brown water coming from the shower, toilet, and sink. This made it incapable for basic hygienic needs. Although they refunded us for a night the general manager was not very friendly nor apologized for this inconvenience. It definitely could’ve been handled better with communication and a sense of hospitality. As beautiful as this hotel is I will not be returning after this experience.
- 5/5
Clean neat older hotel
- 5/5
The people that work they were excellent and I really commend them for being so decent kind of being so helpful when I didn’t know what I needed exactly but they were able to draw a map of exactly what I needed to go. They literally go above and beyond I’ll come here again.
- 5/5
The Warwick is an older hotel, but clean and charming. The staff during our visit was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, cozy and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
- 5/5
I only stayed one night but it was a great location with easy access to the trains as well.
- 4/5
To make things more frustrating, there was no response when I tried calling the front desk about the issue, so I had to go down in person. Aside from these hiccups, the stay was pleasant.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Such a great trip. Warm welcome from the staff when we checked in and friendly service every time we saw them. Room was comfy and a great location for the theater shows we planned. Highly recommended
- 5/5
The desk staff were very friendly and informative. They gave me a map of the city and marked various districts for me to explore and which to avoid. My room was very clean and quiet despite the busy street below.
- 5/5
The Staff were amazing especially Ms Jackie the GM. She was wonderful!! I had a personal issue that the staff helped me with. I felt very safe and cared for while on the property. Thanks for the Awesome stay.
- 4/5
Great and responsive team! This time I got a room off the back of the hotel, a bit disappointing, should have sprung for the upgrade. Maybe the room hasn't been renovated yet.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay at the Warwick Hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender at the cozy bar was very helpful to us as well. It is a smaller boutique hotel which I love. Our room was very clean and quiet. I would definitely stay at the hotel again. We walked to the Giants game from the hotel. It was about a 30 minute walk. Also, had dinner at John’s Grill not to far away and was delicious.
- 4/5
I had a great stay at this boutique hotel. The staff was friendly, the room was very clean and beautiful and it's within walking distance of restaurants and stores. I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved our suite. Perfect for girls trip with my daughter
- 4/5
The think I like the most about this hotel is its location. It's just a short walk to Union Square and the downtown center.
- 5/5
Comfortable stay; complimentary glass of wine; all the staff were professional and personable.
- 4/5
Historic hotel, room was noisy from a mechanical room below or maybe elevator room? But it was a nice stay
- 2/5
The expensive valet service always took more than 10 minutes, they always adjusted the seat and never returned it back, they kept leaving the seatbelt strapped in so I had to remove it every time I went to sit in, and they never looked at me or greeted me. Not a lick of customer service. This should be rated a 2 star hotel. Not 3.
- 5/5
Lovely Hotel, everyone was wonderful! Quiet and clean!
- 5/5
This is a lovely boutique hotel with antique furniture. There’s a nice wine bar and a tapas place on the first floor. They valet your car too!
- 3/5
Given 1 free drink ticket per night per person, but treated poorly when asking for the free drink. No fan in the bathroom. Cleaning staff give you the stink eye if you don't let them clean the rooms on their schedule.
- 5/5
We like the convenience of how close the hotel was to everything that we had planned for our vacation.
- 4/5
We loved the central location of the hotel, we were able to walk to several areas from there, i.e. Japantown, Embarcadero, Chinatown, etc. The number of homeless people in the area is unfortunate, however we did not feel threatened by their presence.
- 4/5
The fit and finish of some things in the room I was in could’ve been better but I wouldn’t detour that from your stay. The place was pleasant to stay and clean
- 4/5
Staff is friendly and helpful. Valet parking is worthy and close to a lot of places for shopping. A good experience:))
- 5/5
Great central location. Very nice and clean hotel. I would recommend this to anyone. Will be staying here again for sure
- 5/5
Beds especially comfortable
- 4/5
The rooms were clean and comfortable, although small. My view faced a wall. The area has good restaurants, but the vicinity is not as desirable as it once was.
- 1/5
When we checked in the staff said we wouldn’t have to pay the hotel service fee as we booked via Hotel.com. I wish I recorded that as when we checked out they refused to remove the $31 day charge.
- 5/5
Greta service and very comfortable hotel in a good location.
- 5/5

- 3/5
Historic building is pretty interesting and staff was very nice, but rooms are very small. Hotel is on a busy corner and is very noisy.
- 5/5
We loved staying at the Warwick. The customer service was exceptional! Nestor and the desk staff were so welcoming and helpful. We requested ice twice and also extra towels and they were so accomodating. We well definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel in a central location.
- 1/5
It was so old property
- 4/5
Overall pretty good, but wouldn't recommend if you're a light sleeper. The curtains barely block out any light and the air conditioning is very loud, even when not on in your room
- 5/5
great hotel, great staff. I will definitely come back!
- 5/5

, then they took money as for accommodation, when I checked out I asked at the reception, they couldn't tell me anything, they gave me paper checks with completely different amounts, when I asked what to do with those debits, they said that the money would be returned to me automatically when they formalize my departure. Conclusion - I didn't get anything back! I'm still waiting for my money back.

The heater did not work and the manager blamed us for pushing the button too much as the cause of it not working. The night staff sent a portable heater which only worked for one of the rooms so the adjoining room was freezing still. Around 3 am the heater turned on and started working but got stuck at 90 degrees so we just shut it off. We did not get much sleep. They did not offer a new room or any other accommodations or compensation for such an uncomfortable night. On top of that they took out $150 for deposit and then also charged me $268 when I already paid for the hotel in full ahead of time. When I called to get this fixed I was given the run around and had to wait hours to call back and speak with the manager. The hotel was clean, but the manager was rude and not service driven. She needs a lesson in customer service. She treated us like we were just lucky to be able to stay there. Not like we were paying customers.
- 4/5
Cons- staff of Bota very unfriendly. Got sick from the food.

Heating system was horrible, room was freezing and heating system wouldn’t go on. It took long time for heater to turn on.

Our room was large and comfortable. The reception staff are very kind and helpful! Nothing is too much of a trouble.
- 5/5
Friendly, traditional hotel in an excellent location.
- 5/5
The only recommendation would be to improve the windows, specifically the ones at lower levels, because outside noice can be annoying sometime.
- 3/5
Shower was a little dirty. A razor cap was left on the window sill. Bed creaked with small movement. Front Desk as always helpful and kind.
- 5/5
The service was impeccable. The room was vintage, yet roomy, comfortable, and well equipped. Will definitely stay there again.
- 5/5
Comfortable hotel and very kind people on the reception

I loved the uniqeness of this hotel only thing I was upset about was the bath tub not being cleaned properly.

The Warwick Hotel provided an exceptional experience during my stay, combining elegant décor with top-notch amenities. The staff was incredibly attentive and helpful, ensuring that every need was met with a warm smile. The spacious rooms offered stunning views and were equipped with all the comforts necessary for a relaxing getaway. Additionally, the hotel's prime location made it easy to explore the vibrant surrounding area, making it a perfect choice for both leisure and business travelers.
- 4/5
It's an older hotel but well maintained, clean and a great location.
- 4/5
Spacious room, helpful staff, great location.
- 3/5
There were homeless people on the street below my room screaming in the morning. Waking me up and totally freaking me out. The hotel also didnt have an airport shuttle.
- 5/5
Super friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, walkable area. As usual with cities, you walk from one area to go into another area that is beautiful and well kept, and we did not feel unsafe in walking throughout the city. And we did walk all over while there.
- 5/5
I love staying at the Warwick. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Expect to hear emergency vehicles going by frequently. Hotel is close to everything in Union Square. Great bar and restaurant at this property. Area is safe for walking nearby, just make sure you’re walking with others as you never know.
- 4/5
Location convenient but many homeless around
- 2/5
Service was amazing but the property is a bit outdated. The bathroom wasn’t working when we first arrived and maintenance had to come check out the toilet in our room.
- 5/5
Beautiful place and great staff
- 3/5
Staff were nice and attentive. However I did notice that the sheets on the bed had stains which they changed for me. Also the carpet in the room had stains. I will say the photos look nicer than in person. The hotel is located next to public transportation which was nice but have to be careful if you plan on walking a certain direction due to the homeless people.
- 1/5
We reserved the Grand Suite months in advance. Someone decided to stay over so they didn’t have the room we reserved but still charged us the same price. The staff was rude and very unprofessional!
- 5/5
Great location, kind staff, and our room was very clean.
- 4/5
Decent rooms, clean, and beds are very comfortable. Staff was excellent. You're basically in the Tenderloin and will see people struggling through life. Just be careful.
- 4/5
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay! The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. The bar was very nice along with the decor! However, as per San Francisco is, the area around the hotel was OK, with mental health neglected individuals walking around as well as house less individuals it made the area seem scary but with kindness and respect everyone is nice in the area. When my wife and I left the hotel for activities, we took Waymo (driverless cars) and used valet for our rental so it wasn’t at too much risk for theft activity. OVERALL the STAY and HOTEL were perfect and exactly what we needed. Thank you!
- 5/5
Fantastic !
- 4/5
Hotel is cute and clean with comfy beds. Late at night the door is locked and requires a desk attendant to open, which took a little longer than I liked given the street people nearby at that late hour. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Wish it had a pool and jacuzzi, but overall a very nice place to stay.
- 5/5
Excellent location, very friendly front desk staff and bartenders!
- 1/5
From the dismissive front desk clerk who told me to simply "send an email" to the elusive General Manager who apparently only works night shifts, it's clear that customer service and basic security are not priorities at this establishment. Instead of taking responsibility and resolving the issue, they seem more concerned with a new GM starting next week. Unbelievable! This experience has been incredibly stressful and has completely shattered my trust in this hotel. I will NEVER book with them again and urge others to think twice before considering this establishment. You're better off sleeping on a park bench than risking your valuables and peace of mind at the Warwick San Francisco or their chains.
