The hotel is wonderful, great location. However, the hotel has four floors in total, and we stayed on the third floor. The floor above us was very noisy — we could hear people walking around, and there were also people running up and down the hallway in the middle of the night. The soundproofing was very poor.

King bed mattress was uncomfortable and the a/c was noisy.

John was very friendly and helpful. There was a problem printing keys the night we checked in, so he had to assist everyone by taking them to their rooms to let them in. The hot tub was out of order. I would like to know why i have a $100 charge pending on my card after i checked out.

Room was very clean. Bed was good. We had some loud neighbors, but it wasn't too bad. The breakfast was extremely minimal, but there is a range of options. It was enough to take the edge off but we chose other options for the rest of our stay. Lobby was very clean and staff was always very friendly.

We liked the size and comfort of the room but we had some issues. Our King suite had two televisions but neither worked. We ended up having to move rooms after we had unpacked, which was a hassle, and into a noisy part of the hotel with a ton of activity. It was not ideal and I don’t know if we would stay here again. The front desk attendant in the morning was much more helpful, and we certainly wish he’d been on duty the night before.

The room was immaculate, and the staff were very accommodating.

Staff was really helpful, especially when we left an electronic item after checkout. They walked us up to the room, and that was really great. The room itself was not bad, just sparse. Not enough pillows originally, but we were able to order some more. Again, staff delivered in a timely manner. Breakfast was pretty good.

We had a good stay here. The check in was smooth, room was clean and spacious. The amenities, pool and fitness room, was good. The breakfast was decent but not as good as some of the other similar hotels we have stayed before. We felt the cupboard space in the room was bit less.

I loved how quiet and clean this place is and how helpful the staff are. I had some reservation changes and they had no problem accomodating me. My room had a great view of the ocean from the balcony, plus it was super clean and I could control the heat. Definitely the best pick for a getaway to Santa Cruz--only 2 minutes from Wilder State Park, Natural bridges and great coffee shops. Will stay here again!

Yes there was a price difference between the two room types.

The hotel smelled great, had high ceilings, and updated tech. I have a love/hate relationship with the bed. Love, because I experienced an important milestone within its sheets (a full night of sleep -- get your minds out of the gutter, perverts). Hate, because the bed frame was cursed and out to get me. Within 15 seconds of entering the room, I stubbed my toe. Okay -- not my first encounter with clumsiness. But within 30 minutes, both shins had been rammed. Not once, but twice. By the time I checked out, my legs looked like I'd seen frontline combat... and lost. This wasn't clumsiness-- this was premeditated. The corners waited. They calculated. Then they struck: out of nowhere. Would I return? Yes. I'm a sucker for character development and light emotional abuse.

Room is large, bathroom is also roomy, a refrigerator and a microwave. Comfy bed. Quiet area. We stayed only one night and no problems but some notes; thin walls. I could hear every word next room guest said. They were very quiet by 10pm the night we stayed, so no issues. Amenities such as tiny hand soap and moisturizer was a bit looked cheap, despite of everything else was good. Would be nice to have complimentary bottles of water in a room but you can buy them easy at snack kiosk by the front desk. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, went to a cup of cappuccino and breakfast plates at near by bakery cafe, Companion. 5mins drive and great place. Overall, great stay. We will definitely stay here next time we will be in Santa Cruz.

From check in to the complimentary breakfast and parking, our stay was wonderful! The staff were all very friendly, room was so clean and huge! Wish it was available for the next time we are up to visit our daughter, but it is all booked and I can see why - we will definitely be staying here again in the future! Thank you!

It is in quiet area of Santa Cruz away from tourist crowds. Walking distance to Natural Bridges state park and west cliff walk. Boardwalk and wharf are minutes drive by car. Spacious rooms and great breakfast.

The hotel wanted to give me a Queen bed even though I had paid for a King plus a sofa bed because it was a “busy” weekend. We wouldn’t take it and after a half hour at check in and a lot of drama by the hotel we finally got the room we paid for.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Fairfield last week. My trip was to only last 4 days, but I was enjoying myself so much I extended my stay. Bright and clean room Quiet. Lovely breakfast daily and coffee all day. The entire staff were excellent and worked so well together. You could tell that they were having fun. The hotel guests included families ( they have a pool and hot tub) people on business trips, high schoolers who were playing in local sport event. All were having a good time. Thanks.

My family loved the rooms

We have stayed here many times over the years since it opened. Walking distance to Natural Bridges and a short walk to dining options. Farmer's Market nearby on Saturdays. For UCSC parents it's convenient as well.

The check-in experience wasn’t ideal. I showed up about an hour early and understood that my room wasn’t ready and just waited in lobby. Then other guests arrived and were all getting checked in immediately to their rooms. Finally after 15 min of waiting after the check in time I went to counter and was able to check in. Not sure how they missed we waiting in lobby when there was only 1 other person besides me waiting. Also, tv was not working in the bed area. Other than the above, hotel still a nice place to stay.

Great stay with 2 young kids. Good breakfast with waffle maker which kids loved and easy drive to the boardwalk. Enjoyed the heated pool!

We have booked this hotel 4 or 5 times in the past and have always enjoyed our stay: clean/comfy rooms, delicious breakfasts & friendly & professional staff at the front desk. This time was very different. We arrived late & were told the king size bed with pull-out couch bed for 3 people was no longer available & instead were left with a queen size bed (I even emailed the hotel and let them know prior to arrival we would be late but noone responded. I then called two different times and spoke to 2 different front desk clerks who both said no problem! Get here when you can!). The night front desk clerk told us the manager wasn't available and one of us would have to sleep on the floor or pay for 2 rooms & try to get our money back or find another hotel!!! The floor was filthy! My husband even found a dirty sock next to the window which was disgusting. When we asked the night clerk what the corporate information was, she told us to look it up online...so very rude, unprofessional and definitely not someone who should be dealing with customers who pay a lot of their hard earned money to stay at a hotel. The next day, the daytime desk clerk, John, did everything he could for us and was finally able to secure the room I had originally paid for...even had an ocean view plus most importantly it was clean. I have stayed at Fairfield Inn hotels all across the US and have never, ever been treated so poorly.

Asked for bed to be made up for daughter - told I had to do it myself - asked after first night for a comforter for her as her bedding was just a blanket and she had been cold (no extra pillow for sofa bed so had to give her mine) … was told they would put comforter in our room - we went out for the day - came back not in room, no maid service so bins were full - went to reception was told they didn’t have one extra duvet in the hotel - we were given a couple of blankets - lady clearing at breakfast wiped the top and the cereal flung at my husband and daughter - no apology - the school opposite was blasting music in the car lot at 7.45 in the morning for 20 mins - right opposite our room - balcony appeared rusty - did t feel safe standing in it - wouldn’t stay again - … it was basically “ok” and I’m normally very easily pleased!!! Microwave was useful

Walking distance to the beach, close to all the shopping. Main bed was very comfortable. Kids had pull out sofa, not the most comfortable but worked. Breakfast has very good selection. Spa and pool was heated. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you!

Tall guy with a buzz cut in his 20s deserves a pay raise. The door to the pool wouldn’t open when we used our key cards nor when we slammed our bodies into the door, he took us outside and hopped the fence to open the outside door so we could enjoy the hot tub on our anniversary night. Love that guy, he’s awesome.

I have stayed here several tines while visiting my UCSC student. I like the location, cleanliness, and easy parking. Recently, I needed my daughter to have a safe space away from her apartment and this place allows over 18 (instead of over 21 like others) to check in. It's a nice safe place with a good breakfast too!

We were able to check in early with out any difficulties.

Room was clean but wheel chair accessible and smelled a little musty. It was also smaller than the Capitola rooms and the tub was tiny. The very worst was that the tv did not play channel 2 and by the time the tech came it was halftime on the Super Bowl, so we thought, in fact we didn’t even get the actual game, that game was from 2 years ago. We missed the whole superbowl!!!! Also couldn’t watch the Warriors game the next day even with our own app. On that tv.

We stayed here for the weekend and it was perfect for our needs. The room was comfortable and clean. It was right next to a school, so I'm not sure how congested it gets during school hours since school was not in session when we stayed. It was quiet because it was just off the main street and away from all of the other busy parts of the town. It was close enough to delicious restaurants, dessert places and coffeehouses. We enjoyed going down to the Natural Bridges park and tide pools. I especially appreciated the plentiful free self-parking. My friend enjoyed the 24 hour gym and the spa was occupied most of the time so people enjoyed it even though it was outside. It was too cold for us to try. The continental breakfast was fine. The hotel fulfilled our needs (2 adults, 1 elementary aged child). We would recommend this place to our friends.

Overall, great place with a great price.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel to attend an event at the Civic Auditorium and also celebrate our anniversary. Our room was clean, spacious, and had a great view from the top floor balcony. The breakfast could be better but at least it was complimentary. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet location and just a short drive to everything we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again if I'm back in the area.

The place is quiet, clean and safe area. The only thing that made me unhappy is i did not get the room that i reserved. I reserved a King room with balcony and i did not get it, i was told they overbooked . The staff at the check in is no fault , i asked if i will be refunded but i was told no . My first time at Fairfield Inn and not sure if I will go back again. They should be more careful with their bookings so customers will be happy. I was planning to talk to the manager the next day but i felt sorry to the lady because she was at the check in again and it was obvious she was trying to avoid me so i let it go. I know she felt bad but it was not her fault.

Great location and nicely kept rooms! Would be great if there were EV charging stations available on the property as we have made the switch to an EV recently. May have to find another hotel for future visits unfortunately.

Great property, but quite removed from the main part of Santa Cruz. It was absolutely perfect for us as we appreciated the quiet and remoteness. No restaurant anywhere nearby, but again, that was fine by us.

The location was easy to access and quiet. The hotel was clean, offered free parking and breakfast. What we really enjoyed was the layout of the hotel room. The sitting area was spacious, there were TV's in both areas and a coffee area with both a microwave and refrigerator. We will stay here again!

We arrived after 5p to check in to our hotel after a 5 hour drive to the location. There were 3 families ahead of us and they did not have rooms ready for any of us because NO ONE WAS SCHEDULED TO WORK. There was a young man at the desk, letting us know that 30 rooms would bot be cleaned and so he would be sending us to another Marriott location- 25 minutes from where we were. We had booked this particular location because it is walking distance to our family. He originally offered to lower the price and put us in the queen room that was ready, then a call to his manager was an “upgrade” to a “better” room which was simply handicapped and the balcony does not have any furniture on it so it is useless. Although we felt for the young man who was doing his best, his manager abandoned him and only 2 cleaning people were working. He said this was not the first time this has happened. It was very stressful and by using expedia, there was nothing he could do. Expedia was unavailable at that time on our end too so we couldn’t get any customer service. Terrible experience.

My only need now is for the hotel to send me a copy of the invoice, all I rec'd is a statement showing a 0 balance. I need a copy of charges. Other than that, I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

Spacious and very clean room.

We drive from halfway up BC Canada down to San Diego and back up again. We stayed at some 4 star hotels and other Fairfields. This was the best all around hotel for comfort, service, cleanliness, convenient location, ease of finding it, free parking, free breakfast selection and taste. There's 24hr guest laundry access (my only complaint is that they need to have the washing machine serviced to clean it as it has a musty smell). The beds were incredibly comfortable. It's within walking distance to the Natural Bridges Beach, which has an incredible view the sunset. The boardwalk is a short drive (10 min) and has a kid's paradise of rides, arcades, beach and food.

Pool and hot tub were very clean and perfect temperatures.

Charged without stepping a foot on the property due to illness.. terrible experience and staff was unreliable and incredibly rude .. filing a complaint. Don’t go there ..

The hotel does not offered gluten and dairy for breakfast for those of us with allergies

The hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable for the guests. My kids liked heated pool and hot tub . We really enjoyed staying at the hotel in winter days.

The property was clean and well-maintained. Rooms were a bit dated, and could be slightly upgraded or refreshed. Otherwise, it was a pleasant and comfortable stay.
