Easy parking, great breakfast selection, large rooms and quiet

My desire to switch to a different room was denied; so we took showers that was weather too hot or cold!… Not impressed this visit at all with the conditions of the maintenance of the hotel but also not very impressed with the staff’s helpfulness. On top everything the room keys we were issued stoped working we noticed about 2 hours after we checked in. Normal we figured things happen! So went to the front where they were adjusted, let’s call it. Right after I went to my car to retrieve something. Tried both keys but couldn’t get the side door open! As if I have never used a key card before front desk assistant asked me if I used it correctly! And tried it at the door and told me it was the door that had an issue!… As I said, I don’t know what the administration, management or maintenance staff are getting paid for here! It sure looks like something is off! In the room; I never had to sleep on pillows as this! They were the same kind you will find in a cheap motel! Last time we were there we clearly remember being impressed by the comfort and quality of the pillows! It was very very disappointing for a Hilton chain to have reduced quality as they have raised their prices!

Our second stay at this hotel. It’s kind of our goto hotel now when visiting Santa Cruz. The staff is great, parking is great, and location is great. It’s within walking distance to food and other necessities. There is a great pizza place across the street, 711, and an ice cream place. I only wish it had a pool. Comes with a nice simple breakfast that gets your day started.

Good place to rest for a few days while exploring Santa Cruz.

The location was okay although the traffic noise on the front side of the motel was pretty bad. The undisclosed pet fee when booking on a third party site. What a complete shock to be told of a $149 pet fee at check in. This was so out of line and unacceptable. Had the room not already been paid, I would have cancelled. Furthermore, the first room we were given was not clean. The desk manager came and looked and agreed. We were moved to another room. This whole experience was very disappointing. After a call to a manager, we at least got the pet fee down to $75. This was still well in excess of anything we had ever paid for any motel we had stayed in on our trip.

Great location for us on the west side of town makes it convenient to access many things. Easy parking onsite. Beds are decent and comfortable. The deodorizer you use in the hotel and rooms is too overpowering. Breakfast bar could have better quality coffee!

This is a nice hotel although ask for a room on the back side to avoid road noise. Our biggest beef: spotty wi-fi. The biggest plus: nice breakfast with decent options for hot, cold, and grab-n-go. Also pretty centrally located to our activities so convenient.

When checking in the front desk clerk tried to charge me $150 for my pet, when the Expedia website clearly said $75. After much complaining and showing him the $75 pet fee in the app, he only charged me $75. The facility was clean but there was a broken lamp in the room and the lights between the bed did not turn on. Breakfast was good and service people for breakfast were friendly and helpful.

our room was a bit noisy due to street traffic. also any noise in the hallways seemed to echo into the room. besides that, the room was nice and clean

This property is close to my daughter's home so it's very convenient for me. I often travel alone and I feel safe at this location. There is plenty of parking.

Minor quibble — some common areas not cleaned regularly. Food near a button in elevator not cleaned 24 hours in. Can in parking lot not picked up in over 24 hours.

Stayed a few days with kids and little dog. Nice hotel that is close to a lot of things. The staff are very friendly. Check in was a breeze. The included breakfast was good. Included the basics but that’s all you really need. They have a nice little coffee/tea area that is available all day. Our room was clean and comfy. The shower is a little strong so be careful. If this place had a swimming pool it would be 5+. We would definitely come back though. They have a great pizza place across the street and a an ice place a short walk down the street. Oh 7-11 is also across the street for some snacks etc…

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in Santa Cruz. Location is very easily accessible and a lot of restaurants within walking distance. The drive to the Boardwalk was less than 10mins. I loved that the parking and breakfast was included and it also has a charging station for EVs. Definitely will stay here again.

Although we stayed for 3 days we did not get housekeeping- when I checked out and voiced this dissatisfaction I was curtly notified that housekeeping had to be requested- was not informed at check in

I recommend asking for room on the parking lot side. Street side quite noisy. I had people next door who were talking loud all night so the staff moved me and upgraded me without me asking for upgrade. It was like 2 different hotels. Quiet and peaceful. Staff was great.

We are local but stayed here for our wedding, us and many members of our wedding party stayed in rooms here. We were hanging out in our room one night with our bridal party and we received a couple knocks about noise complaints but quieted down. (I later heard many other hotel guests being loud throughout the night after we went to sleep and had to put ear plugs in to get a good rest.) the night of our wedding we came back to the room to change for 10 minutes and received a knock from the odd front desk guy telling us we were being too loud. We had been in the room for maybe 5 minutes and were quickly leaving. When we checked out they would not let us check out and said they would charge us extra for the noise complaints. This was the first we heard of this. I was disappointed that we told our bridal party to stay there given the way they were treating us. Never staying here again and I plan on speaking to their managers as soon as possible. Strange and unprofessional staff.

We visited friends who live close by. Everything was super convenient and lovely.

Room was overall clean. The shower pan (white) could use a good scrubbing. When we first entered the room it had a musty smell to it. The mattress was the worst part as it was very firm. Coincidentally, the pillows were too soft and required doubling them while sleeping.

Our stay at the Hampton was wonderful. Entire property was clean with plenty of parking in a safe neighborhood. Our room was nicely appointed, bed was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious.

Coffee-maker in room had condiments but no coffee.(coffee in the lobby is good) Airconditioner in the room randomly turned on every hour or so all night even though the thermosat said OFF

Front desk staff member was a little cold and not super friendly, but he was doing his job. The room and everything else was great as expected.

In the same room, the shower floor was stained with dirt. Obviously not well cleaned.

This was a very basic Hampton Inn, no frills.

Overall decent, too expensive for what you get but thats the new norm. Overall happy with the stay

Traveling with a dog and there is a specific table inside by breakfast for dog owners. The front desk people were amazing, personable, and I would definitely stay there again and again.

Half of all parking spaces are for time cars. First night 6 spaces were taken by U-Haul truck. Too many trucks takings up 1 1/2 spaces.

Just a very average hotel in a very average neighborhood. Definitely not worth the amount they were charging.

The room and hotel was kept clean and well done. The hot breakfast was subpar with reheated omelets with cheap cheese. I preferred the scrambled eggs even though they were watery.

Room 303 did not have a clock/alarm clock, no glasses just cardboard coffee cups. Otherwise good place/stay, great breakfast. This was our fifth stay at a different Hampton Inn, will continue.

The hotel had a good location with parking and back. The neighborhood behind the hotel was great to walk dogs in. It was a very dog friendly hotel. The cleanliness of the bathroom could've been improved and no services were provided unless you asked for it in the room for a four day stay. Overall, we would come here again, but the staff could've been a little friendlier and the bathroom could've been a little cleaner.

This was my third stay at this location. A bit surprised, but the Carpet between the beds looked soiled (sticky) and both mattresses felt bit worn out. Parking was easy and breakfast was good as usual.

Excellent location - very central. Quiet, clean rooms. Tasty and varied breakfast until 10 AM each morning. Kind and accomodating front desk personnel. Purified water station on the first floor. Coffee and hot water for tea available all day and night. We always stay at this Hampton Inn.

We enjoyed our hotel room. Spacios, clean, nice bathroom & shower! Wish they had a shower cap in bathroom, however. Good thing Im going through chemo so I didnt have much hair to get wet! Great breakfast buffet too! Our only complaint was with our TV. Couldnt get it to work. Kyun (employee) csme up to try to get it to work & couldn't. We were disappointed because we wanted to relax & watch some TV after a long day. Just when we had dozed off around 11 pm, the TV came on by itself & we couldn't turn it off! In bed already in our pajamas & we had to call Kyun, again, for help. We had to get out of bed, look presentable & let him in. He managed to turn it off completely so we couldn't watch our morning news or shows the next morning either! Kind of put a damper on our stay but things happen that are not in our control. Everything else was great! Staff wad very nice!

Great Hotel Room. Unfortunately the rooms that have King Beds are located next to busy Hwy 1. It can get pretty noisy at night with the car noises passing bye when trying to get sleep.

This is an ok hotel. It was nice and clean and quiet. The coffee and breakfast was really good. The parking was ridiculous though the spaces are so close together! The staff was ok.

I booked 3 rooms through a booking service for the night of our stay. At check- in, the hotel said there were only 2 rooms even though I showed them my reservation that clearly showed 3 rooms. I ended up having to pay for an additional room because the clerk would not recognize the 3rd room. After speaking to management, we were still denied the third room. In essence, we were charged for 4 rooms. 3 through the booking company and a 4th room through the hotel. The hotel was not willing to help at all.

There were 3 of us checking into separate rooms. Two were in the same floor I was told there were no other rooms on the same floor. I get to my room and the room was not clean! I forgot to take pictures I was in shock! The garbage was overflowing with trash. The bed had been slept in and. Was I made and there were dirty towels on the floor! I was blown away- never had this happen before. I immediately went back to the front and they changed my room no problem and then guess what there was a room on the same level as the rest of the group less then 5 minutes later. They offered nothing else not a credit or even a sorry.

The HVAC also wouldn't come on. Had a maintenance guy switch it over to manual to operate. The TV in our room stopped working. The guy at the front desk came up and got it to work again. Later that night the TV came on and would not shut off. Had to drape our coats over the screen to be able to sleep. They put us in another room the next day.

I had a terrible experience on New Year's Day. I checked in and the staff that checked me in was very nice and gave me my key. I left and came back at 3am to sleep and the staff they had working would not let me into my room. He was very rude and I feel he was high and in capable of reading. He could not find my information I gave him booking number and everything. To make a long story short I had to sleep in my car all night. Called management next day and they found my info quick!! The manager said they will deal with that staff member and they did compensate me with a certificate but not sure if I want to risk using it, but we will see how that goes for now my experience was very negative. Hopefully Orbitz came give me my money back!!

Quiet dog friendly stay away from the downtown busyness.

I had to leave one day early and the hotel would not refund me for the one night (out of five). This is poor customer service. I won’t be returning.

Modern hotel. New. Well thought-out for a new hotel. Has all the stuff you want. Breakfast provided was a notch above typical. One downside is lack of personality - you could have been anywhere. Property could use some charm.

This Hilton Honors Gold member is a little tried of seeing the goodies being offered in the welcome gift being displayed at the front desk but then only given water. It’s becoming a problem for me. Maybe don’t openly display what people are missing out on.

Expedia was not clear about the pet fee (or it was hidden in fine print). Disappointing since I searched for pet friendly hotel. 😌

The location, the price point, the staff, and the cleanliness make this a wonderful find! One block from the beach. Incredibly helpful staff and clean rooms made my stay perfect.

Well located hotel, for sure. The bathroom door lacks privacy in a strange way, and the showerheads water pressure is a bit lacking. Otherwise a solid hotel with a decent breakfast. Love the 24hr coffee and tea setup in the lobby 👍

Had a weekend stay to go to the boardwalk and the beach. Included continental breakfast was really nice. Breakfast ends at 9:30am so make sure you get up! Staff was super nice and understanding. Was able to get a late check out which made the visit even better. Nice spot with local food, drinks, and grocery shopping near by. 5 stars. Great for families!

Shower was definitely not cleaned. Dirty footprints were visible. I have a photo of anyone needs it. This sight will not let me uploaded it for some reason. Beyond that it was just ok. For $269 on a Thursday I will not be going back or recommending the property.

Enough room for all of us with 2 beds and a fold out couch. Didn’t realize it came with a kitchen so next time we can plan accordingly and stay longer.

Front desk agent was extremely nice.

They offer a very nice continental breakfast; much more than most offer. Not a buffet, but not just some boring pastries. The staff putting out the food were bery nice and accommodating. It was 8:45 and breakfast stopped at 9; they didn’t try and “not” refill the options available. It was nice to see. The bed and pillows were probably some of the best I’ve EVER had in a hotel. And I have back issues and usually sleep in an ergonomic position with an adjustable bed at home. I slept like a baby here, and no I wasn’t drunk; not even close.

Hampton Inn west is a well-appointed modern hotel located in a convenient spot of Santa Cruz. The hotel is well-kept, though we had issues getting our room cleaned. In total, we were there 4 days and never had the room checked. The hotel was about the cheapest option around, though the prices go up exponentially on weekends and with less than a 3 night stay. Our 4 days/3 nights was less than my sister's 2 night stay.

A/C is noisy. The fan in the bathroom was broken. Noise coming from the aisle is too loud. Body lotion dispenser was so dirty.

I have had the opportunity to stay at the Hampton Inn in several cities through California, Texas, and Arizona. The reason I search fornthe Hampton above other hotels is the breakfast is usually really good with many options for hot food. While there were some hot food items available, the breakfast was low quality and skimpy. It might just be this particular location so I will not stay at the Santa Cruz Hampton again. Everything else was pretty good.
