. I booked this hotel specifically for the breakfast and due to my early schedule was never able to partake. Would be helpful if breakfast started at least by 7 am.

The location was great! A hidden gem. It was a bit run down. Missing boards on the balcony, broken screen door out onto the balcony and broken drawer on the nightstand. The bed was okay, just a bit on the hard side.

Staff is courteous, the facility was clean, and it was easy to access all our needs. The property is walking distance to the pier, the boardwalk, and a family park. The morning breakfast area is well organized. Had the best waffles. It was cozy and pleasant.

The location was convenient. Checking in and out was easy. Parking was available right outside my room. The tolitries in the shower were nice and unique. There were a few reviews mentioning the existence of spiders in the room/bed. I glossed over them as most of the other reviews were positive. To my great disappointment, I saw spiders throughout my stay. There were a few instances of a spider crawling on me. I noticed that the front desk had an incentive program for leaving a review. This makes me feel like the hotel is "paying" to cover up the negative reviews.

walking distance to the beach and warf Parking should be apart of the stay instead of $25 a night , Walls are very thin and you can hear EVERYTHING . Poor shower pressure, bed was very hard and stuck was in the slidding glass door , homeless under the walking path playing music,

The location was close to the boardwalk and pier, a 7 minute walk. A plus so you don't need to pay $25 for parking. The staff were friendly. The lobby to check in seems to have cats because I can smell them and was getting an allergy attack. We had a room with a view of the ocean/pier with a balcony. That was nice. The room itself was dated, especially the bathrooms. Breakfast consisted of oatmeal packets, basic bread for toast, a tray of boiled eggs, yogurt, a waffle machine and drinks (coffee, orange juice, etc.). Not very healthy or what I expected/desired. Overall, a great location with a dated interior and subpar breakfast. I would not stay again only because of the smell of cats in the lobby.

Worst experience ever. There were insects on the wall , roof death and alive. I went to the front desk to let them know. And the girl just handed me a card to write the manager. The floor was sticky like they obviously didn’t clean the floor. And a death spider was kill and left behind, housekeeper didn’t took the time to clean it. Honestly was horrible experience for my daughter. She couldn’t sleep at all.

Hot tub wasn’t working, they said it would be fixed the day after we got there and it was never fixed. Breakfast had a couple of good things. You need a remote for the AC that they don’t tell you about until you ask why your AC doesn’t work. Good location tho.

The staff was awesome! Celeste was very accommodating and ensured we were happy with everything :-) The room was really nice. The heater was a little noisy, but it kept us warm from the wet and cold weather we were having during our stay. Small little perks like happy phrases and winning some silicon jewelry to getting roses for our stay was a cool touch :-)

The location is the best part. The breakfast is ok, we didn't expect a continental hot bacon and eggs level. Hot waffle was good.

The room was clean, and the staff was wonderful. It was within walking distance to the pier, the boardwalk, and the markets. I would recommend to anyone this is really a great place to stay.

Internet didn’t work most of the time Parking lot was being resurfaced so we have to find alternate parking, but we were lucky to find a spot on the premises. The bed was a little too firm for me It was a little loud due to street traffic. The room was clean and the balcony and ocean view was really nice! The breakfast selection was good! The staff was nice and apologetic about the inconvenience

Friendly staff

My daughter suffers from severe eczema and allergies and she breaks out and gets hot and itchy when exposed to hot conditions, being that the hotel room was bolstering hot upon arrival and the amana heat pump in the room did not work made the day and night very uncomfortable through out that day especially at peak temperatures of 94 degrees during the day. I was expecting a far more comfortable stay at the hotel but unfortunately was not able to comfortably relax and rest.

No swimming pool but it's okay.

Falsely advertised. This place is not clean, there were little hairs in the bed & on the towels. Absolutely disgusting. Never staying in a Howard Johnson brand again after this.

The girl that initially checked us in was Kai ( I hope that’s right) and she was excellent. But the room was not as described at all. Then the manager did not come in to address the problem. The guy at the front desk was super high and avoided me. It was terrible.

A lot of noise from the street and we were in one of the rooms off the hallway leading to the hot tub. People were talking loudly and singing in the hot tub after 11PM and it sounded like they were just outside the door. The phone had no dial tone to call the office and complain, and the TV had no antenna signal. The bathroom walls and tub had been poorly patched. There was hair on one of the towels.

This Hotel is perfectly suited to walk down to pier or to the boardwalk. It is situated just above the main strip that gets heavy traffic but you are away from it and there is a private drive and stairway to get down to Pacific and Beach streets

Amazing staff. Huge hot tub. If you want a balcony.... request the top floor, I don't really consider a patio a balcony... but it was still worth it!

Great place to stay. The young lady behind the desk was incredible. Very accommodating and friendly. Will definitely book another stay there again.

It was located very close to everything, I was able to walk with my kids to boardwalk and beach. It was the basic needs and a decent price. My son was cold and when I asked for an extra blanket, they said they didn’t have any extra blankets or pillows. I thought that was a little weird. The blankets were basically just sheets, so if you get cold easily bring an extra blanket other than that, everyone was very nice and liked we could walk to what we needed in about 10 minutes.

The place is a little old but is very clean and the location of the Inn is within walking distance to all the attractions

Disappointed in the breakfast. All Wyndhams we have stayed at offer some type of protein with breakfast. There was no eggs, bacon or sausage. They had waffles and a few mini muffins, cereal and yogurt.

It was a decent hotel for a couple nights with the kids. The hot tub wasnt really hot, test it before you in. It was nice to have the breakfast every morning. Hotel staff was nice. Close enough to the boardwalk to walk.

Beds are a little on the uncomfortable side but overall good location and nice stay.

My stay was great!

Great value for being walking distance to Main Beach and West Cliff drive. The rooms were fine, a little small but the price was great for a weekday overnite stay. Breakfast was continental with not much variety... better to eat elsewhere. But again, price was good for the rooms and location so I don't mind eating elsewhere.

Our room was clean and a few updates were done over the past year. Staff is super friendly. The biggest issue was the ice machine was empty on the day we left and a spider found it's way into our room but that can't be avoided.

The lady at the front desk when we came in was just delightful and then the next day. I talked to 2 ladies, the same lady as the day before and another lady and they were wonderful too. The room was clean.Just I was very pleased

In a good location but the property is very old and in need of serious repairs and updating. Seems more like a place collage kids would hangout at on spring break.

All the staff were amazing!

The Manager, Celeste, was exceptional! She took our many requests, and went above and beyond to help us. She was always kind, polite, and extra nice to the kids, even giving them little notebooks and pens.

I stayed here over the weekend for a triathlon event that I was participating in. The room was perfect! The staff is really friendly and the breakfast is great. I’d definitely stay here again the next time I’m in Santa Cruz

Nice place will stay here again

Breakfast was skimpy. There is no pool. There is a hot tub, but guests were in there drinking bottled alcohol, and talking nonsense to my grandchildren. When we checked out, nobody was at the front desk. We left the keys, and still haven’t been emailed an invoice

Having a 3 bed room within waking distance to boardwalk and warf was very convenient. The room was cozy but clean. Hot tub was nice, breakfast was slim but we were happy to have waffles included in room price.

Our room had a great view of the ocean, walking distance to the beach. Internet didn’t work though so if you’re planning to go online you’ll need to use your phone’s hotspot. Staff couldn’t help either. I gave 4 stars because of the internet, you need to be under 5 feet tall to comfortably use the shower, and the plug in scent was too strong and we had to place it outside. At least it wasn’t a floral scent so it wasn’t bad once we placed it outside the room for our stay. Overall a good experience, the staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be. Thank you for a good experience. :-)

We weren’t aware of the construction but that was fine The office woman was absolutely wonderful! Huge family with kids running wild and parents not even making a fake attempt at keeping them in line was the only negative

Location is great! Short walk to wharf and boardwalk. Room was clean. The balcony had an ocean view just beyond the buildings. Beautiful view of the sunrise.

Breakfast was good, but would have preferred some sugar-free waffle syrup and butter that was not so hard and some plain yogurt (not flavored).

Staff was great. Rooms were not kept up. Toilet very loose, furniture dirty, holes in wall, chipped paint everywhere. TV did not work after first day. Furniture all chipped and pieces missing. I expect a NICE clean upkept room for 200.00 a night. I was very disappointed. Place said it had a pool, it did not. It advertised an actual kitchen, it did not have. Not what I expect for so much money!!

Not HOT. The beds were very small and uncomfortable. I was charged one thing the day of check in. My credit card was charged more than $70.00 more than my Original reciept. It was ok for a Last minute stay 4th or July weekend, but would probably nit stay here again.

Customer service was terrible

The beds here are absolute trash the worst sleep ever. Nothing worked there ice machine hot tub. The staff was rude. It was all around one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed at!

The attendant was excellent

Booked room due to location. Was very disappointed by the horrible mattress. Needed to be replaced years ago. Loudness of doors closing and footsteps quite jarring in the middle of the night. But the real nightmare was the neighbor who kept me up all night with loud music and ranting using fowl language.

Room squatters causing our room to be changed twice, hair in our "clean" towels, smoking rules unenforced, an unwired bedside phone just for decoration, and random people walking up off the street to take advantage of commentary breakfast. Need I say more?

Came for Ironman 70.3 and this was a GREAT location from the race venue (walking distance). Also super close to the pier and other things, great view too.

We stayed one night. After a long day, we could not check in around 6pm because there was no one at the desk. A woman reading a book on the couch told me to come back in 15 minutes or go to the Boardwalk. My family and I went to the Boardwalk and ate dinner. I returned after 8pm and the woman berated me and said “You are late, you were supposed to be back in an hour”. My teenage son had to hold back from hysterical laughter. We were able to check in to the room that I had prepaid months before, not it was an awkward experience,

The man at the front desk is the biggest issue. He is so rude and bordering on hostile that it made for a difficult sign in. He was in the middle of an argument with another guest when we arrived. Although I could understand the difficult position he was in with the guest who was demanding an ocean view room for the same price as a regularly room, he continued his rude diatribe with us: NO visitors, NO smoking, etc!

We had no shower curtaIn and sink was stopped up. They gave us plunger to do it ourself.. manager was very rude. Gave us a room key and told us we could share showers with them.

The room was nice, but the manager was very unfriendly and rude. The door to the ice machine was locked so I asked how I could get ice and he just pointed to the map and said “I’m busy, ask the cleaning staff.” I also asked if I could print a document in their business center and he ignored me until I politely asked again. He just said “no” without looking up from his computer. The breakfast was also very minimal. Not recommended.

When we went to che k in the manager told us to wait 5 mins before he could che knus in . After the 5 mins of waiting he was VERY rude kept passing gas , spraying in front of myself and grAnddaughter . Could not hardly understand him very difficult . The rudeness is what I could t tolerate . Would NOT recommend this property

They do not let you check in early and there is not much help at the front desk until after three o'clock, so if you have a problem at this Indian run howard johnson hotel before that time good luck. They have their rules and they stick by them, so do not think you can get there early that day and enjoy yourself if you stay at this hotel. Alot of the other hotels in the area are more accommodating.

My checkin was strange. Got told 3 or 4 times, no smoking, no guests, checkout is 11. Then the lady behind me waiting to check in was told to come back in 10 minutes to chk in. This was her 2nd time being told this and it was already 3:45.

The bed was not very comfortable, lumpy and I could feel the springs while trying to sleep.

front desk staff kept my family waiting for 30 minutes upon our arrival at 9:00pm, after our long 5 hour drive, because the desk worker was eating lunch. She wouldn’t check us in until he came back from lunch and was very rude.

Just like a cheap motel.
