Modest but clean and reasonably comfortable. Good shower and sink, bed was pretty good, pillows had seen some wear. There was daily maid service, too. The location is great, a quick walk to the wharf and beach, across the street from a bus stop, and next to a popular bubble tea stand.

The property wasn’t well maintained. The room was recently painted but the fixtures had outlived their day, very shabby. The TV connection to the cable didn’t work the first night. That bathroom door was so warped it couldn’t close. No place to hang clothing. Lots of noise from the parking area and street.

Nice no-frills place for a short stay. Inexpensive, friendly staff, clean rooms, good location. My biggest complaints would be the postage-stamp-sized bars of soap they provide, and no place to hang clothing in the small rooms.

There is no security for the first floor window to be allowed to be open. The screen was broken. The floor of the room had a lot of dirt and sand on it The best thing was the shower. I was pleasantly surprised with great pressure and lots of hot water that was a plus. The walls are pretty thin because I can hear the person next to me snoring like he was in my bed pretty bad

The building is very old but has not been kept up. The room has lots of rust, unfinished repairs, broken hardware, etc. Very little water from the shower and someone else's long black hair in the towels.

This place was pretty good. I was clean, but don’t expect lush comfort. This is a clean place to sleep that’s close to the beach, and I mean within walking distance. Also the parking is extremely steep. We had no problems, and the AC was wonderful. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. If you want a good place within walking distance of the wharf and the boardwalk, this is a good option.

Bed moved around and made noise like a tin can

Good location and value. Only issue is bedside plugs turn off with the wall lights. Some rooms have a power strip peeking out from the bed to fix this.

All I wish is for there to be an option for a late check out. That’s the only thing I would say was a little bit of a bummer. Overall the stay was perfectly quiet and cozy! I would definitely return and recommend to friends and family!

The location was great, and we were able to walk to the beach and into downtown Santa Cruz easily. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only problem I experienced was that the person checking me in seemed kind of confused. He mixed up my room details with someone else's and gave me the wrong room number at first. Other than that it was a good experience.

Clean and updated room. The property is one of their older ones but it was a nice close walk to the wharf and boardwalk and that is what we wanted. Free parking is a huge plus.

We came for a short girls trip for the she is beautiful run over Mother’s Day weekend. We picked this location due to proximity to the event and price. The property is showing its age but the staff were always available and helpful. We did not enjoy our room since we were put in a room right across from the utility room in the corner. Also we were disappointed that the ice machine did not work. The rooms are clean and air conditioner worked great. Overall it was a mid level stay and we would probably look elsewhere next year.

I would recommend avoiding this motel at all cost. If this motel is your only option, book in person and request to see your room before you pay—they will try to swindle you.

Ample handy parking at a property that is located STEPS away from the wharf and the boardwalk! Room was basic, but had everything we needed and was very neatly cared for.

Negatives: No coffee, tiny towels, one tiny bottle of shampoo and 2 tiny bars of soap.

You can’t beat the location. However the bed had to of been 20 years old, the toilet seat was not secured to the toilet, the fan in the bathroom sounded like a plane taking off. I have epilepsy and a recent knee replacement. There are zero grab bars which I think is against ADA laws in California. If you want a cheap option near the beach this is a good option. I won’t be back however.

The bed was very uncomfortable, the mattress was placed on a metal box spring that made noise whenever I moved. The insulation was also poor—I could clearly hear other guests’ conversations as well as every step they took in their room, which made it difficult to sleep.

Parking was a pain it was inclined the on-staff employees were not 24-hour as it had said online I went down around midnights to get fresh towels and the employee ran down with his pants half open presumably he got dressed to come down to tell me that they weren't open but that was not a site anyone needed to see or wanted to see. and he told me they weren't open 24 hour on that so I didn't get any fresh towels in that moment. Towels I was trying to trade in had black hair on them some of the pillows had black hair on them the sheets for a decent overall bad experience and would not recommend even for the fair price

The parking is a bit challenging, tight spaces and on a hill. Otherwise really reasonable and close to restaurants, the boardwalk and shops. Great overall!

The truly best thing about this place was location. Parking is STEEP and at an angle. The beds are not very comfortable and the pillows felt like a bag of socks smashed together. Fixtures were loose and piping not secure in shower. The customer service is amazing and very friendly. We felt safe though and it was quiet.

We have stayed here before. They had updated their rooms since our last visit. The rooms are very nice and welcoming. The parking is tight if you have a large vehicle, but manageable. Wish they would coffee in the lobby.

It’s March in Santa Cruz so it’s a ghost town. I arrived at 1:45 and wanted to check in. Attendant told me I had to come back at 4. There were 2 cars in the parking lot. I asked him the occupancy rate and he couldn’t answer. Just said there aren’t any rooms ready. I asked him to call me when a room was ready. Never got a call. When I got there at 8 there were no cars in the parking lot. I have traveled over 150 ddays a year for the past 30 years. Worst hotel experience ever.

The room was clean and there were no issues. It was conveniently located within walking distance to the boardwalk. No frills. It did the trick.

Check in was easy & fast. Great customer service. I was asked if second floor was ok. I asked if there was an elevator which there isn’t. I told them we have heavy luggage so they moved us to the bottom level. Very quiet here.

Rooms are cozy but small. Over all liked the amenities TV, refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, heater and air conditioning. To be honest needs a blinds on windows on top of the carton roon 210 the door stockes very bad opening and closing.needs a little love.

Rooms with very little amenities, burnt out light bulbs, an outlet that didn't work, some cracks on walls and bathroom sinks. It's fine if you only need to stay for a night. Hotel is at a great location, walking distance to the beach and offers free parking.

You definitely get why you pay for. The bathroom tub seemed to have mold. Towels were dirty and they only provided two, small, see through towels. Bedframe was metal and sat on top of metal barrier causing it to constantly move and creek. Furniture was missing handles and dirty drawers. Also, the parking lot is very small and at an awkward angle. Lastly, outlets were spotty with electrical sparks. Won’t be coming back!

Quite a bargain for what they have to offer. Room is ver tasteful decorated and the only thing lacking is a closet. Otherwise it is spaious, with a comfortable bed, two bedside tables, a desk with a comfortable chair, another comfortable chair on the other side of bed. s spacious sink sith nice amenities, and a very spacious bathroom, oh, did I mention a tv with 3 spacious drawers, a microwave and refridgerator!! Really doesn't get much better than this for under $100.

Rooms clean, could do with some sort of hanging facilities for clothes (modern hanging rail would work), instead of huge cabinet on an angle taking up loads of room. TV better attached to the wall to give more space and smaller cabinet either under TV or situ somewhere else. Lacking in drink facilities, no coffee making, unless at reception? (Which we may have missed?) Air con very noisy in our room, but perhaps we were unlucky.

Our stay was extremely disappointing. The first room we were given had stains on every layer of the bedding. After requesting a new room, we found the second one wasn’t any better—stains on the sheets, black hair on every towel, and even in the bathtub. The shower had a visible layer of dust on top, which made it clear that cleaning and upkeep are not being taken seriously. This was by far one of the most unpleasant and unsanitary places I’ve ever stayed.

There were some strange characters staying at the motel not sure if it was being used as a half way house. There was a guy turn up in a van and parked in the entrance. i would not stay again, if you just want a cheap over nigher on t\our own as a male i think its doable

We had a great day. Parking looked a little tight in the photos when booking. But we were able to park our large SUV up at the top in the back perfectly. The room was clean and spacious. At the front desk, the gentleman was able to upgrade us to an ocean view room, for an affordable cost. It was so nice to be able just to walk to the wharf and the boardwalk. Very short, walk to boardwalk and wharf. Nice hotel we will definitely be staying here again.

The towels were dirty and folded. The bathroom door didn’t close and in the bathroom where the water is thrown, the handle was loose, as if broken.

Just for the night , it’s fine. A peek at the beach from windows of two of the rooms on second floor during the day; there are intensely bright lights outside the door during the night. The bed is uncomfortable. The upside: the parking, security cameras around the property, though we can’t speak for whether they’re monitored or not, And the front desk lady was sweet.

Front desk was wonderful! Allowed me to park car in lot and check in early. Called me when room was actually ready. Great location easy walk to everything. I even was able to walk to downtown Santa Cruz from location. This is not a luxury hotel but was clean, safe, and quiet. Great rate and perfect for an overnight getaway to the ocean. Highly recommend!

Uncomfortable bed: It was supposed to be a double, but it sat atop a smaller base and the sides of the bed gave out if you laid on the edges. It was not comfortable for two people.

Quick check in, the free parking was a good perk! The short walk to the boardwalk was perfect. The room is smaller, but it’s not a bad thing! It was clean and quiet.

Great stay! Our room is upstairs and had a great view of the ocean! Two minute walk to the pier and Beach… the taco place across the street is so good for a quick lunch or dinner. The tacos were incredible.

If you want to stay at a place that is walking distance to the Boardwalk and pier, this is a suitable place. However, don't expect to have updated amenities and lot's of space inside the room and parking lot. Motel is old and worn down, but they do keep it clean. The owner or front desk service is very nice. We didn't have any issues.

Ili had arrive late and must have looked homeless to the keeper. Earlier I had been in a violent car accident was luck to come out just looking homeless. No matter to here. She was very welcoming. Loaned me a phone charger too. They don't run a Hilton or huge business hotel. But the run a well kept place to vacation in Santa Cruz or shelter somebody who needed a place at a very reasonable price. In that way they are 5 stars in my mind.

It was very affordable, tho that may be because it was off season. In season it probably is still reasonable considering it is only a 5 minute walk to the main beach. Cons: Older facility and looks and feels it, too. If you are on the upper level, you have a lot of stairs to climb to get to your room depending on where you are located. Bathroom design is poor (the door opens right into the toilet). The towels in the bathroom are really unacceptable (very thin and leave lint all over you). I mean, my dog's towels are thicker and more absorbent than the towels provided. I wish I had brought my own. They can do so much better without spending a lot on this front. One of the electrical receptacles near the bed wasn't working.

Only negative is the ac/heater unit is incredibly loud and when it kicks on at 3am will absolutely wake you. Also the outside lights are very bright and if you need a dark room to sleep you might have an issue even with the blinds closed.

Room was clean, a block from the boardwalk and Pier with all kinds of shopping and dining. Only negative was it took 9 days and a phone call to get my deposit back.

Terrible place to stay beds were the worst beds I’ve ever slept on couldn’t barely sleep the front desk lady was the worst person I’ve ever dealt with rude and nasty additude just awful. Def will never stay here again

This is my third time staying here this summer. Location is great if you want to be near the boardwalk and pier. Room is basic but comfortable, clean. Some rooms have shown some wear and tear, particularly in the bathrooms, but everything has been functional. I did have an issue once when requesting a later time for room cleaning and it wasn't done at all, but maybe better communication would have solved the issue, I don't know.

Noisy, smell of weed, could hear people loudly talking in other rooms all night long. Made me wonder if there are drugs being dealt out of here. Ancient, hard, lumpy mattress- I’m sure I could find a better one at the dump. Room smelled strongly of bleach and cleaning solution, yet there was dirt in the corners and around the bed.

I was there for the triathlon. The hotel is right at the center of everything. Easy walk to everywhere including the wharf. Easy parking. Super friendly staff. Allowed my lat check out because I need to shower after the long event. Will definitely come again.

Since we’re never in the rooms and always on the beach or shopping or eating, this place is the perfect budget just for that. A little outdated and can use some renovations. Maybe add some better curtains or drapes and fix the rough parking situation. But this place is walkable to boardwalk and pier and little drive to Davenport, which has some great beaches like Panther Beach. Staff is always pleasant and service of checking in and out is convenient and fast! Until the next time!

The location is easy walking distance to Westcliff Drive along the Pacific ocean, Monterey Bay Natural Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center, Santa Cruz Broadwalk, and old town of Santa Cruz. The hotel is outdated but its location and free parking are huge pluses.

The room was freshly painted, there was no closet or hooks. Aside from that, the room was in great condition. Not far from the boardwalk & dining areas.

The lady that was working was very nice and helpful. The place is in a pretty good location. It is really close to all the things. The rooms are pretty basic. If you are looking for a basic place close to all the stuff with a fair price? This is the place for you.

Worked out just fine, great location - staff was nice and accomodating. The rooms are nothing special, just average old school hotel rooms - not a place you hang, but a nice sleep. I would go back again for sure

The location was perfect! Walking distance to the wharf and boardwalk. The property is definitely on the older side, but everything was clean. There’s a steep hill from the street to the rooms with lots of stair for the second floor. The stairs are different heights and you can easily trip is your not paying attention. I would request a first floor room if you have trouble with stairs. Ultimately, it was very convenient and we would stay there again!

Friendly staff. We were able to check in a little early which was nice. Parking was easy. Super convenient location. Easy walk to the beach and the boardwalk! Room was outdated, but clean. And, although they had a fridge and microwave in the room, there was no coffee maker! What hotel doesn’t have one? That was disappointing. After that being said I’d stay there again for location convenience.

Clean and great location

The Beachview Inn was so convenient to the wharf and boardwalk. The person at the front desk also told us about the greatest coffee shop (Firefly) that was any easy 5 minute walk. They were in the process of replacing the bathtubs which was the only down side...the drain plug didn't work right in our unit, but did not prevent us from showering. I would highly recommend this Inn. We intend to stay there again on our next trip to Santa Cruz.

Check in and out was a breeze. Amazing location and the price was even better. The lady who helped us was so sweet and even offered help when she saw I was traveling alone with a toddler. Everything is very much outdated and the parking lot was horrible to get in and out. There was an off putting smell in the room. We had to keep the window open to air it out. Overall a good bang for your buck esp when you can just walk to the boardwalk.

This place is run by real people who are happy to be there! Joe was amazing at welcoming us and providing us with information on how to maximize our time while in the area. In just a few steps you are on the sand. Great location! Highly recommended.

I stay at this hotel every time I visit Santa Cruz. Which is a few times a year. I love how close it is to the boardwalk. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always clean. I dont need much for a hotel room, since I just shower and sleep there. So if you are looking for basic bed, tv, bathroom, microwave and fridge, this is perfect!

Great place close to the beach, boardwalk and downtown.

Bathroom was dirty, drapes had black mold growing, shower knob was sticky with build up. Green mold on metal shower rod. Bath tub very small and dangerous. Shower temperature control not working properly. T V control very dirty and sticky, so gross.

Location is amazing.The staff is so kind & friendly! Rooms need to be updated and renovated.

The room was clean. No nasty stains or anything like that. But the room needs a serious renovation. Grab handle in shower was missing. Bathroom mirror all scratched up. Door lock wasn’t very secure. Curtains did not fully cover the window. Thin walls, could hear my neighbors, and I could really hear the people in the room above me. The location is awesome if you want to go to that part of the beach. It’s a short walk. There are some restaurants near by (the taco spot - las palmas I believe - across the street was absolute garbage though) All in all I would not stay there again. It was cheaper than the rooms nearby but still way overpriced for the quality of the motel. I’d look elsewhere unless these rooms are sub-200 or the entire places gets remodeled. The $290 I paid was definitely not worth it.

My favorite place in Santa Cruz to stay!

Great location. The free parking is worth the price alone. 5 minutes to pier and boardwalk. Staff was nice. We grabbed a great room on the fly.

Place was small, and not the cleanest. Bed was uncomfortable. Parking lot was tight. Super close to entertainment like the board walk and pier. Wouldn’t recommend to my friends.

This hotel is very sub par for the price. It is a cheap and dirty motel.

It's alright for the price and location, don't expect too much and you will be fine.
