Quality Inn Santa Cruz Downtown Area

The room was very clean and attractive. The location of the property is seedy. Too many homeless up front by the street. The property is old and needs to be updated. No division between other properties and this one. Unattractive environment.

Very nice person working. Clean. Got the job done. There was a small window that had no curtain and we had light all night shining through on our faces. Besides that, very decent motel.

The staff members did help a little when I told them the power went out in both room. Then it proceeded to go out again and no longer called again. Also, the towels had hair all over them & the toilet as well. It smelled like dirty rag was used to wipe down; and see wet streaks on floor. I paid $378 for one night and i probably wouldn’t stay there again.

The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Breakfast was good. The place can't help what I didn't like but both mornings had to do with other guests.

The beds were hard and on metal frames, there were gnats constantly in the room even with the door and window closed, the A/C was on the other side of the room near the bathroom so it was inconsistent with the temperature when someone was in the shower. Parking was Okay, and the conjoined room was occupied by other guests and you could hear their conversation through the conjoined door.

Excelente ubicacion, caminando o en carro encuentras todo muy cerca. El chico en recepcion es muy amable, el ambiente es tranquilo y callado. El desayuno incluye wafles, cerial, yogurt, cafe. Es basico pero te ayuda a poder llegar al almuerzo. En otros Quality Inn el desayuno es mas completo. En general mi estancia fue agradable.

TV stand was dusty. Room was pretty clean. Make a lot noise on second floor since I stayed on the fist floor.

Bathroom lock was broken. sheets were not cleaned and lot hairs on sheets.

It was nice to have the room cleaned and beds made the first night, but didn’t receive the same for the other three nights. We ate waffles, pastries, bananas, juice, and coffee. The one small window in room could have used a curtain to block out some light in the morning and night. It was a good for the price we paid on our budget.

Room in decently clean noting special but clean. Counter person was nice, disappointing was the claimed "continental" breakfast? Consisted of yogurt bananas and fruit Danish packaged pastry. Drip coffee machine. Not you typical buffet toast, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, coffee & tea most people reading that would expect. (You've been warned)

Last minute booking but we are so happy with the stay. Room was very clean, beds/pillows were comfy, and the actual grounds was very very quiet. We had people staying on both sides of us plus right above us and we never heard anything. Breakfast was just cereal, oatmeal, and packaged sweets but it was a monday they said there was more options on the weekend. Overall we will be back for our next stay.

Pets were welcome but no grass! The room was comfortable enough.

Denise the person who was in charge of maintenance was very helpful. She supported us with a request that was not related to the room.We also appreciated the continental breakfast, The bed mattress was on top of a metal frame that when I bumped into it, made a loud thump sound. The walls were very thin and we heard all the noise from our neighbors.

The room was clean and quiet. Close to shops and restaurants.

Parking is convenient and the front desk was friendly. Area is slightly sketchy. For the price, it was ok.

Clean spacious room, ok breakfast, friendly staff; hotel in a marginal neighborhood with homeless sleeping here and there, trash and even a used syringe by the hotel. Price is good for Santa Cruz, so still a good place if you won’t venture out at night. Water street grill about 3 blocks away has good food. Not far to the freeway or coastline.

Bugs in the pool

Seemed to have people living in the hotel. There is an alley way and screechy people walking up and done all night long. Parking was limited.

This is a pretty decent motel with good rates. It was pretty clean. The rooms were really nice. The area was really nice too across the street is a really good ice cream shop and if you like a cannabis store, there’s a restaurant up the street and a Denny’s all within three minute walking distance The bed and everything were really good. They were all clean. The bathrooms were nice. I wasn’t there too much because I was exploring the city and the beaches, but it was really nice and the front desk was also very nice and friendly. The only thing I would say is the breakfast it could’ve been a little bit better but it was not bad all in all, and I was able to eat something early in the morning so that I didn’t have to go somewhere and get something to eat, but they do have a nice mini fridge and microwave in the room so you can definitely always stock that if you need to this is my second time going there and I’ll probably go again like I said decent pricing. The hotel is really clean. The staff is really friendly and it’s kind of right in the middle of a bunch of things that you can just walk to if you want to.

Bathroom window and window by the closet open easily, which was a little worrisome. Beds and linens were clean. Beds were extremely stiff and small for being a queen size. Staff was worth the stay was very friendly and polite.

Place was clean. Kinda creepy location. Little noisey cause its located right by freeway. Overall it was an comfortable stay.

They gave us the nice third room which was nice to have.

I like to be honest when reviewing places I have stayed. Prior to booking I read some pretty nasty reviews of this hotel. It wasn’t the nicest place I have stayed in, but it was clean, convenient and well priced. I needed a bed and bathroom, and that is what I got. It wasn’t as bad as some of the reviews I read before booking. It’s location was perfect for my trip. I was visiting a friend and he was about 5 minutes from there. I will stay there again if I have another trip to Santa Cruz

Clean room, nice size mini refrigerator. Continental breakfast is okay, but better than anything. Parking is limited at night, and a bit of homeless people in the parking on one of the nights but didn’t see any issues the next day.

Not the best part of town but if your know Santa Cruz, you already know that. Staff warned about locking cars to avoid theft. No issues while I was there and the room was really nice and quiet. Smelled and looked clean. The bed was pretty comfy too. Not bad at all.

This place is great overall! The room was spacious and clean. Front desk service was nice. My only issue was breakfast. Main option was waffles so there was quite a bit of a wait, which makes sense for a Saturday morning. Overall, I definitely recommend.

This was a horrible hotel. The manager was rude and would not give me a room since he said that Expedia had not paid yet.

The front desk clerk was friendly and very helpful. Good location. I didn't rate the hotel higher as my bathroom's sink drain was broken and the desk clerk couldn't fix it. He moved me to another room; but, it was on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. Also, there were several homeless people roaming the lots adjacent to the hotel and I felt uncomfortable walking my dog. Good wi-fi service.

The floors in the room were old and dirty. Especially next to the walls. Initially, there was no hot water, we called te manager and he had someone come out and fix it within a couple of hours. The Bathroom was very dirty as well. And the bed cover had a cigarette burn it the middle of it.

Neighborhood isnt the greatest, but didnt feel unsafe. Continental breakfast was good, my brother absolutely loved the waffles, must've been special mixture lol. Room was clean, comfortable, we were given connecting rooms, very nice people. Would stay again

Very clean, spacious room. The manager is very friendly, and kind, and super helpful. My kids loved the little free breakfast in the morning. They were so happy. Just keep your car locked, and valuables with you at all times. This was advice we received for all areas of Santa Cruz, not just at the motel. We aware of our surrounding and felt very safe here. We enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable. It was affordable and very decent. We would definitely stay again. Thank you so much! 😊

The linens were visibly dirty, and so was the floor. But other than that was close to the boardwalk, downtown area and great ice cream shop across the street

Key and needed to get a replaced key. I will definitely ever stay there again and DO NOT RECOMMEND…. Spend the extra 200 dollars it’s worth it. The bed had springs that made noise when you sit and had dust in the corners ….. awful !

The first room we were assigned was in the last room on the 2nd floor which was surrounded by rooms of people living on the property. Residents were smoking and drinking outside. Our neighboring room had trash spilled out on the walkway everywhere. When we entered the room it reeked of cigarettes, the entire floor was scratched up, the tub was dirty and the dresser was moved from the wall. We complained and were offered another room on the 1st floor. This room was in better condition but average. No foul odor. or neighboring residents. We realized the first night that the toilet base appeared to be leaking but didn’t see water. On the second night after being out all day and coming back, the first toilet use made the toilet leak and pool over the entire bathroom floor slowly. We complained and were then moved to a third room. This room was back on the 2nd floor and was by far the best room with everything in great confirmation. This room represented exactly what was advertised and what we hoped for during booking. Updated bathroom, clean floors, nice bedding, no foul odors at all and no residents who live on the property as neighbors. Overall, being switched between three rooms total was of course not ideal and we were at least thankful for the final room we got. The staff were as accommodating as they could be but I would never return and don’t recommend this hotel.

Nice quiet hotel, small breakfast.

I had a very unsettling experience at this motel. As soon as I arrived, I felt unsafe. There were people in the parking lot openly smoking crack, and on the balcony, others were barbecuing. The environment was chaotic, and I honestly didn't feel comfortable getting out of my car. I immediately requested a refund, and they refused to give me one. It's clear they don't care about the safety or well being of their guests. Stay clear.

It was fine for a cheap hotel. Don't count on the breakfast. If it's open at all (8-10am) there isn't really much offered other than bananas, coffee.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here because it’s family friendly and not far from anything. The staff is always friendly and the hotel though on a busy street is quiet.

Super easy access from PCH right to Ocean St and 500yards and you are there!! Great location to local Santa Cruz eateries and easy in and out from the property. We had our dog with us and the charge was a reasonable 30/night/per animal..

Close to eateries. Easy to check in and out. Plenty of towels provided Beds were comfy Bathtub did not have plug for bath option. Breakfast option was not open early enough. SUNDAY was not available until after 8am.

Entrance to hotel very narrow. Office still closed/locked at 7 in the morning with no sign of staff. Continental breakfast/coffee not available as indicated on website. Balcony was unkept and had debris. Coffee pot missing in room, so couldn't make own coffee. What appeared to be mould around shower faucets. Dirt smudged on bathroom light switch. Bed was made and appeared to be clean. Overall would NOT recommend this place to stay, especially for the price charged for the room. Have had better service at a Motel 6.

Staff was friendly as we're the other guests. The room was average at best. Homeless people everywhere camped out at surrounding businesses. Lock your cars and don't leave anything visible in the car. It will dissappear.

Only thing good was that property is a few minutes drive to boardwalk.

Checked in later in the evening and was told there was no room available due to it not being cleaned. Had to wait for housekeeping to clean a room to begin our stay.

This hotel is fine if you have are planning on being out and around town. The continental breakfast was all carbs, and limited fruit. The front desk staff could improve customer service. The room was cleaned each day: that was great. They do not have an ATM. Not convenient

Now the room itself could use some work. The fridge didn't get very cold unless cranked all the way up and even then it took awhile to get to a good temperature. The AC was difficult to program and was also very loud. It also didn't cool the room down very well. Otherwise there were several areas of usual wear and tear, but nothing bad. The beds were comfortable the water pressure was sufficient. The room was spacious and I like that there was no carpet. Because the room is on a busy street we did hear a lot of traffic. There were also several vagrants who would pass or walk by, but none of them hung around that I saw.

The hotel is run down. Grounds were unkempt. Residents in the hotel on the floor below me left garbage and cigarette butts everywhere. Felt very unsafe won't be back.

A good choice at a good price. Be aware there are no elevators and some rooms are on the 3rd floor. Breakfast is decent for an affordable hotel, the usual toast, cereal, yogurt, waffles, bananas, coffee. The only thing is the 8am start is a bit late, better if breakfast was available by 7am.

This is one of the cleanest properties I have stayed at for a long time. The staff in the office was thoughtful and made sure if I needed anything they would take care of it. The room was spotless. The bathroom was equally clean. I was traveling alone and felt safe at all times. I plan to stay there again next year when I go to the Redwoods.

We had a good stay here. 2 nights, free breakfast in the mornings. Waffles, toast coffee, juice, hot and cold cereals, fruit and yogurt. The guy at the front desk was nice. Didn’t charge us a deposit either. 10 minutes from the beach and boardwalk.

Dirty comforter, linens and towels. Towels old, towels have lots hairs on it, no trash bins in room. Room not clean enough, hairs on floors etc. Price for room is too expensive. Terrible.

Convenient for this stay

The room was much more spacious than anticipated. The room was clean and had some nice amenities, such as; a microwave and fridge. The rooms looked as though they had been recently updated. The only con I have was the water pressure in the shower, but it was better then some other top line hotels I've stayed in.

Unfortunately this property has gone downhill. The rooms were worn and smelled of cleaning supplies trying to cover cigarette smoke smell. At the end of the lot there were long term residents with dogs tied to patio furniture throughout the day. The whole rear of the property consisted of long term tenants and their things. Saturday morning two police officers and their cars visited the long term tenants. I’m assuming it was some sort of domestic disturbance. I did not feel safe with my children and did not walk around the area for shopping or food. Prior to Covid we could at least feel safe and walk across the street for ice cream. Not anymore!

REASON POOR RATING-POOR Accommodations : Showerhead did not work properly, Low water, pressure, poor design of shower water was all over the floor,no full length mirror, no tissue in the bathroom, incomplete Sundries – shampoo, soap,ets. No Internet service the whole time we stayed there, front door was warped thus it was hard to open and hard to close we had to kick it open, and we had to kick it shut.ALMOST HUMOROUS…had a good laugh.

We had to take our dog with us and have stayed in the area before (maybe once before here for soccer). It's not fancy, but there was food in the little room off the lobby and the rooms were a little nice than I remembered. Decent for a one-night stop over on our road-trip.
