Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating the friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and convenient location, particularly for those attending events at Proctors Theater. However, there are consistent complaints about the high price, lack of parking, and issues with room temperature controls and amenities.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms
- High price
- Lack of parking

Great place to stay after watching a show at Proctor’s. Very clean and the breakfast in the morning is very good! Pool looked inviting and clean but we forgot to bring suits.
- 4/5
I would recommend this hotel
- 3.5/5
Couldn't regulate temperature of room. It was too cold.
- 5/5
Nice and quiet. Clean room and hotel. Good breakfast.
- 3.5/5
The price was quite high considering the atmosphere outside of the hotel. The parking lot was full of beggars and drug addicts. I was on edge the whole time worrying about my work vehicle being broke into.
- 2/5
Everyone on the staff was friendly, but when I first arrived, I was informed that the hot water stopped working the day before. Luckily they were able to remedy that situation. When we returned to the property at 7 pm, the front door was locked, there was no one at the front desk, and our key didn’t work. Someone did come by to let us in and informed us that the front door was broken. We could not figure out how to adjust the thermostat/ fan. Instructions would have been helpful. Also there were small posters around the hotel, warning us to be aware of the dangers of human traffickers. This gave a creepy vibe. With the exception of the friendly staff, this property was very disappointing.

The hotel had NO HOT WATER. We checked into the hotel at 5:00 on Saturday 5/23/26 then left to go out to dinner. We returned at 8:00 and noticed there was no hot water. When we called the front desk, we were told “yes I am aware there is no hot water, there’s no hot water in the whole whole hotel.“ Apparently they had been out of hot water since 10: zoo AM. We were not told upon check-in that there was no hot water. When we called at 8:00 at night, we were told we could get a 20% refund or a full refund if we wanted to go and find a hotel elsewhere. It was 8:00 at night and we were unfamiliar with the area. We did not want to pack up and go elsewhere. When we checked out in the morning, there was still no hot water. When asked about a refund or a discount we were told simply that they were making a list of people impacted, which was everyone since the whole hotel had no hot water. The list would be given to the manager and the girl at the front desk suspected that people would be given a full refund. There had been no hot water since 10:00 the day before and yet there was no manager on site attending to this? Looked it up and this is a serious health code violation…. Yet the hotel remained open. They were also continuing to serve breakfast. The biggest issue I have is that the hotel was aware of the problem when we checked in, yet no one told us. Had we been given the option of making the decision when we checked in, we would have gone elsewhere.

Clean rooms, friendly staff and great breakfast. Parking on premises
- 5/5
We went to a show at proctors so the location was perfect! The room was spacious, clean , and very comfortable beds. The breakfast staff were super friendly !
- 5/5
The workers were super friendly and the breakfast options and food was great. I wish they’d be sure no alarms were set on the clock. I thought I saw no alarms on, but it went off at 6 am. :(
- 5/5
Excellent! Staff is amazing, breakfast is top notch
- 5/5
Room was very clean! Property was up to date. Parking was easy.
- 4.5/5
Very good. I don't eat eggs so mu choice was limited Eggs
- 2/5
Queen room was not updated, the parking was very bad due to event nearby
- 4/5
Schenectedy is a sketchy city and I was hit up by a panhandler in the parking lot as I was plugging in my car, and then by several others on the street - no one was threatening but just be aware of your security. The hotel itself was very nice, our room was newly renovated and lovely, and they had a large spread for breakfast. If I had to stay in Schenectady again I would definitely rebook here.
- 4/5
The hotel was great. Clean, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Again clean and staff were so helpful.
- 3/5
Breakfast was not good.

Very comfortable stay and polite staff. Close to Union College, local restaurants and attractions
- 5/5
We were greeted with a friendly smile from the woman at check-in. The entire staff was great, along with a delicious breakfast. Our kids enjoyed the pool. We traveled by train so parking wasn’t a factor for us.
- 5/5
Nothing
- 5/5
That I had to pay $75 for my 7lbs dog to stay with us.
- 5/5
Very kind staff…especially a kind woman named Felicia who was helping with the breakfast. Need more humans like her
- 4.5/5
No ice machine.
- 4/5
We had a couple issues with our room and the staff was incredibly quick and thorough in helping us get them solved. Really appreciated them during a snowy weekend!
- 4/5
The room was nice and the staff were all great. It would be great if their televisions had streaming options. I ordered out and there was no silverware in the room. I wasn’t there for the pool or the hot tub so I can’t comment on that. I would stay there again.
- 1/5
Room was filthy
- 5/5
everything was great easy and friendly check in staff was helpful. our room was clean and the bedding was clean thank you housekeeping. i also used the pool area which was great with lots of fresh towels. i didn't get to go to breakfast because the amazing curtains had me believing it was the middle of the night. thank you for a pleasant experience
- 5/5
The breakfast was just ok, but the person in charge was really warm and friendly.
- 5/5
Rooms under renovation
- 5/5
It was really easy to find and the restaurant next to it was excellent
- 5/5
Staff was very courteous.
- 5/5
It was a great stay, loved the breakfast
- 5/5
Yes to all
- 5/5
We came with grandchildren and the staff could not be more accommodating! The facility was clean and breakfast was very good! parking was a little difficult
- 3.5/5
The location was the primary draw for me as I was attending the CouncilCon event in the Proctor's Theater that weekend. Parking was extremely convenient for my needs. It would be nice to have some kind of directory or information about restaurants and attractions nearby. The location is wonderful on State Street, but several places were not open for business - it gets unclear where to go as you get further from State Street / Broadway.
- 4.5/5
The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were able to check in at noon instead of 3pm because our room was already cleaned and available which was great because we got into the city early and had a lot of heavy bags with us and no car with us. We were given a room upgrade after having issue with ac in our original room. The upgrade was close by on the same floor so we wouldn’t have to bring our bags far. The ac in the bedroom area of our upgraded room worked perfectly. Breakfast was tasty and was available for a decent amount of hours. The room was excellent and the bathroom was nice. The showers were equipped with excellent shower head spray options, perfect for everyone’s needs. Bedroom and bathroom were very clean and well stocked with the towels and other essentials. Pool and hot tub had a conveniently placed outside patio area. The pool and hit tub were also very private and were available for use from 6am to 11pm which was awesome. The ac in my original bedroom was not functioning properly. We were upgraded to a suite room and the ac in the living room area was working exactly the same as the original rooms ac. It stayed at 75 degrees which was not enough to keep us cool given the humidity and heat outside. We just kept the bedroom and living room areas closed off by closing doors and keeping cooler air in the bedroom. Not really something you should worry anout at your hotel. It seems the ac and heating may need to be renovated or replaced in some rooms. The pool and hot tub area was not kept clean unfortunately. There was the same broken nail and fake eyelashes on the floor next to the hot tub our entire visit (Monday morning through Friday morning. There was the same big clumps of hair in the pool floating around for three days as well, even after staff was told about it upon our first visit to the pool area on the first day of our stay.
- 5/5
The comfiest beds we have slept in in a while Everything went well
- 4/5
Good location, walkable to many restaurants, staff was great, lots of parking. Bathroom floor was sticky, seemed like it was cleaned but not rinsed, no outdoor seating at all, breakfast food was only ok. Hard to pull by front door even if only one other car was there.
- 5/5
Customer service on point all departments front desk kitchen hospitality
- 4/5
Friendly staff and breakfast buffet No USA paper, no grooming items in room eg. creams, soap, terrible tp, and generally less items to make us feel welcome

Walking distance to job so great location.
- 3/5

- 4/5
All good,
- 3/5
Overall, our stay was good. Since they were short staffed, check in was delayed for over 2 hours. We walked around town and waited. Even after calling before heading back, we were assured it would be ready in 15 minutes, it wasn't. Nothing was comped or offered to us for the inconvenience.
- 3/5
Great welcoming staff and the hotel is 1000% improvement overt the Saratoga Garden Inn, however, I am disappointed that there are many many diamond elite parking spots while are very few handicapped spots in comparison. Very disappointing proportions.
- 5/5
Felicia in the breakfast area was outstanding. Very welcoming and fun. It was a good breakfast.
- 5/5
Felicia in the breakfast room was very polite and personable. Good person with a kind heart!
- 5/5
Everything was perfect!

Room was clean, clean, clean. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast room is first class and the staff there was top notch... so friendly and welcoming.
- 4/5
Staff was helpful and the breakfast was delicious. My room was very spacious and clean. Appreciated the hot tub and pool. Would stay there again, because the location was ideal. I was 6-10 minutes away from everything I wanted to see on that trip.
- 5/5
every thingwas very close to the places we c wer
- 5/5
Clean room and all areas of the hotel. The staff was great especially at breakfast, thanks to Felicia!!
- 5/5
We checked in early, and the staff was wonderful!
- 5/5
Entrance, hallways and room were clean. Staff was friendly. Breakfast and coffee were good.
- 4/5
Friendliness of staff
- 5/5
nice room, good service, good value, good location
- 2/5
The room reaked of cigarette smoke, there was mold in the shower.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel; accommodating and friendly staff; clean rooms and comfortable! Nice shops and food nearby.
- 4/5
Notify hotel of my booking!
- 5/5
The only thing I’d say is to have a bath mat in the shower or safety strips on the floor of the shower. Other than that we were quite happy & pleased with our stay. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend your hotel.
- 5/5
Comfy beds
- 5/5
Wonderful service all round!!! We love staying here on show nights!
- 5/5
Easy check in, convenient parking, very nice room. Breakfast was great.
- 4/5
I work in an industry where service and attitude show everything about an organization. The ladies who greeted us at breakfast were friendly, caring and service oriented. They asked my boys what our plans were for the day and how we slept. They assisted us and others with everything to give us a great start to our day. We will definately stay here in the future and hope that Hilton uses these ladies to teach others about customer service around the region!
- 3/5
Located directly in center.
- 5/5
Front desk very helpful in suggesting laces to go and things to do. Room was exceptionally clean (even bathroom corners)! Lemon waffles for breakfast were excellent and there was even sugar free syrup readily available. Staff all around were friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
We arrived at noon and attempted to check in early. We were told our room wasn't ready but we would be put on the early list for a 1:30 check in. We arrived back at 3:45 and were told our room wasn't ready, along with many other guests. We did not get into our room until 4:15 and then were charged a higher rate than what was on the itinerary we booked with you. I will take that up at another time.
- 5/5
Clean and centrally located
- 5/5
Very convenient location. Easy parking. Fitness center and pool were better than other Hampton Inns. Breakfast was acceptable but could have used a few more healthy options. I would stay there again.
- 3/5
It was a cold night (first frost of year). The room was 65 degrees upon entering and thermostat didn't change (perhaps the heat hadn't been turned on yet). Hotel employee came to check the room temperature and said it would warm up.....it never did.
- 3/5
Overall, a decent hotel but definitely not worth $300 an night especially when your room isn’t even ready at check in.
- 5/5
Nice staff!
- 4/5
.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good and seating was comfortable. Staff was cheerful all around. Room was comfortable and ironing board and iron was convenient and a life-saver.
- 5/5
Went to see David Byrne at Proctor’s and the convenience of the hotel being next door to the theatre was
- 5/5
Staff is great
- 5/5
This hotel is so clean and spacious.
- 3/5
The woman in the breakfast area was abusive. Trying to bump into me all the time.
- 4/5
Nice hotel and nice people. The only complaint is the breakfast. Really awful low grade food just like other Hampton Inns. What is with those styrofoam omelets? I Say skip the crappy breakfast and lower the price of the hotel room. Either that or upgrade the breakfast. One or the other.
- 5/5
We came in on bicycles and the staff was very accommodating. Spacious room. The breakfast staff was cheerful and friendly, a wonderful start to the day!
- 5/5
nice to grab a coffee before heading out in the mornin
- 5/5
Sever unique stores and eateries nearby
- 5/5
Everything was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good and staff was great. We enjoyed staying right downtown. Loved Johnny’s Italian restaurant across the street! We appreciated that we could travel with our kitties.
- 4/5
Central downtown location. Walkable to many restaurants, entertainment options. Pool area was not cleaned daily as trash, hair, used bandaids etc were there for our 3 day stay. Air conditioner in room struggled to maintain 75 degrees making it uncomfortable for sleeping. Friendly staff. With a few tweaks this could be an excellent choice.
- 5/5
Our stay was very good. All staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was great and at breakfast the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, and our beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
Zero issues! Fabulous experience. Suite was larger than expected. Breakfast was fabulous. Probably the best offerings I have had in this level of hotel. Felicia in the breakfast area was not only verk kind she was always buzzing around helping people and working. She is probably definitely one of your best and hardworking employees. She has a genuine warmth and welcoming attitude. All staff were pleasant and had a smile. I stayed 2 nights on a sold out weekend. I would definitely recommend and stay here again. - my only recommendation would be to change light bulb (or add makeup mirror with changing light) color in bathroom so that it makes it easier for women to apply makeup. I did have to go into the kitchen area for more light because the bathroom has an amber cast from the lights. But other than that. Zero issues.
- 3/5
The staff at breakfast was fabulous! Very friendly and helpful.
- 1/5
Pathetic hospitality staffing
- 4/5
Overall, a good experience but our entire bathroom floor was super sticky - sort of like it had been mopped with honey. Had to keep shoes on in our room because that was gross. (We didn't ask for service because we had a 1 night stay & didn't feel like the hassle but I'm sure they would have addressed it if we had complained.) Breakfast buffet was tasty & efficient - kudos to the lady that was running it!
- 5/5
Lovely
- 4/5
All of the staff were friendly and very helpful, especially the ladies in charge of breakfast!
- 5/5
Great
- 4/5
Could not put Ac
- 4/5
The staff is wonderful, i like their fitness room, overall very good hotel
- 4/5
Our stay here was good. The property is located in a great area that is easy to navigate on foot or by car and the onsite parking was great. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The room was clean and as expected. My only critique is that on the whole the property would benefit from some updates as it was a little dated compared to other Hampton Inn’s we’ve stayed at before. Despite that we would stay here again if we ever revisited the area.
- 4/5
Did not have room cleaning service during my stay. Other than that everything was fine.
- 5/5
Great customer service
- 5/5
Wonderful to see a show at Proctors.
- 2/5
Was given a room that had not been cleaned. Dirty towels in the shower, bed sheets were dirty. Went to front desk to get a new room and they seemed more concerned with how it could have happened then helping us get a new room. Only positive was it was walking distance to restaurants and proctors theater.
- 5/5
Good location, clean rooms, easy parking
- 5/5
Very personal, and friendly. Great recommendation on eateries in the area. Spot on ! Ty
- 4/5
Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Love it there there.. the food, the atmosphere the staff everything was amazing
- 4/5
Hotel is an older building for the price but made up with great service, cleanliness and breakfast.
- 4/5
Very convenient location and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
The hotel is very nice and they have the friendliest people working there.
- 3/5
We requested a pack and play for our toddler that came into our room covered in food. But there was a wonderful woman (Felicia) that was absolutely amazing at breakfast
- 4/5
Everything was great, room, pool, breakfast. The only compliant I had was the air conditioner. Could not cool the room. In the evening there was no parking.
- 5/5
very convenient location
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Nice place,excellent value
- 3/5
To be fair, for some reason unlike the pass 3 years, the hotel is less cleanly than before. Its not dirty, but they need to tighten it up.
- 5/5
This was my first time staying here and I definitely would recommend it. It was clean and quiet. The stay was so nice, ESPECIALLY Ms. Felicia who ran breakfast the weekend I was there and all weekends. So welcoming and such a special member of the staff. Plus she can throw down in the kitchen (especially those breakfast potatoes. 5 star). I will be returning to this area in the fall hopefully and hope to see Ms. Felicia there.
- 5/5
We were pleasantly surprised. Our family is looking forward to our next stay.
- 5/5
Stay was great. Pool used the pool and fitness center, caught a show at the Proctor!
- 5/5
This is a very beautiful place to stay, the workers were really nice and courteous except for an older big white guy who refused to give me and my kids bottle water and said the bottle water were for Elite members only. That wasn’t my first time there , I’m always welcome with a bag containing 2 bottle water as a Hilton Honor member each time I stay there but this particular night I checked in around 11pm and had to ask for just a bottle when he didn’t offer any but he vehemently refused us when he had a truck load of water sitting right next to him at the front desk and was so rude!!!!!
- 3/5
check in was good. room fairly clean there was no cleaning service done in my room the whole time of my stay. i had to ask why my room was not serviced Are you even being offered fresh towels or linens. Definitely not OK for the amount of money I paid for my stay to breakfast was OK.
- 5/5
Once again it met all our requirements!
- 3/5
We arrived around 7 pm for check in (which supposedly started closer to 3) and were informed our rooms the we had already paid for may not be available. After a 15 minute or so wait and the receptionist making multiple phone calls we ended up with keys to the type of rooms we booked. We chose the hotel due to the availability of the pool. The pool had ants crawling on the deck and it was visibly dirty (black marks all over the floor). The room was clean and adequate if not sparse and outdated. We won’t be staying again.
- 3/5
Other than that it was ok
- 3/5
Pool area floor was not clean. Visible grime. When in hot tub, I noticed ants crawling nearby and even one floating in the water which was enough for me to get out. My son was excited to use the pool so we stayed down there for about an hour. I purposely didn’t bring any shower products bc hampton inn usually provides them. The shampoo bottle in shower was empty and body hair from previous patron was on bottle. Decided to give my son a shower instead of bath because every time I plugged bathtub to fill, black specks were in water. Emptied and tried to fill 2x. Still black specks. By sink there was razor cover from previous patron. Had brought our own blanket so slept on top of bedcovers and used own blanket after deciding room wasn’t thoroughly clean. I was too tired from travel and day’s activities to complain.
- 4/5
Area isn’t great but it is safe. Parking on one night was an issue and I had to pay to park in the municipal lot.
- 2/5
The non smoking room smelled heavily of cigarettes and all of our clothes came home smelling like it. Also one of our bed pillows smelled like dog pee.
- 4/5
New and clean appearance.
- 5/5
Excellent stay, quiet, comfortable and clean
- 3/5
Can’t fault the staff though, very friendly and attentive.
- 4/5
Clean, conveniently located, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Spacious rooms. We had a problem with our thermostat otherwise nice stay.
- 4/5
I liked the pool but they didn't clean the area well.
- 4/5
Parking was inconvenient
- 5/5
The breakfast attendant was amazing her name was Felicia and even when it was full busy she made us feel special. The front desk people were also amazing as was our room. 5 out of 5 stars!
- 4/5
This location is extremely convenient for Proctor's and other downtown attractions. The hotel is older but well maintained. Staff was friendly and attentive. Breakfast area is small for the size of the hotel but lots of people just took it up to their rooms.
- 4/5
My only complaint is that the hotel is hidden behind Proctors Theater and impossible to find…. Just one tiny, hidden sign. One has to look toward the sky to see the sign on the top of the multi floor structure. Drove around block 3x and called hotel twic3 to finally find it.
- 4/5
The staff was very helpful and courteous!
- 4/5
Really enjoyable stay and very friendly staff. The breakfast included was absolutely excellent and the gym and the pool are very clean and accessible. Only problem is that we stayed on a busy night and the initial lot and the overflow lot were both full so we had to park elsewhere when parking was included as part of the advertisement.
- 5/5
This is the perfect place to stay after an evening at Proctors & out after. We'll be back in April.
- 5/5
Clean rooms close property to where our event was located. Front desk staff very accommodating
- 4/5
Staffs friendly and area clean
- 5/5
Convenient to walk around
- 5/5
Fantastic property in the heart of an easy to maneuver location with lots of shops, restaurants, and interesting places to visit. Our hotel stay at all the amenities we needed, and the facility was well kept and very clean.
- 4/5
The refrigerator wasn’t cold enough and the room temperature was slightly cold
- 5/5
Everything was good except some lady that was staying there yelled at my son in the pool for no reason, he was trying to help her kid from going under the water, which she wasn't paying attention.
- 4/5
The hotel is quite dated and a little noisy during busy transition times. Bedding was ok. For this hotel it is the wonderful staff that make the difference. Carly greats you with joy and friendliness upon arrival and end ensures you have everything. Felicia hoes anove and beyond to make sure you start the day off right. The most amazing genuinely happy and friendly staff I have ever encountered. If the rooms were not so dated, It would have been 5 stars.
- 5/5
The staff and the property were excellent. The staff were very courteous and accommodating
- 5/5
Located in the heart of everything! Great property!
- 5/5
Great place to stay in Schenectady. It's walkable to downtown and has everything you need!
- 5/5
Beds were very comfortable & staff was very friendly!
- 3/5
Our room had the smell of old smoke and could definitely use some updating. The pool was the size of a hot tub. The parking was extremely limited unless you were willing to park off grounds. We won’t be returning.
- 4/5
Fine. Clean. Breakfast staff was exceptional.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay at this property. The room was clean, the staff was friendly (especially the women in charge of the breakfast)! The gym was nice too. We were there for 2 quick nights and it was perfect for us. We had an issue with the pool being painted and the smell but they resolved the issue in a quick and friendly way.
- 5/5
Fantastic facility and the staff was great
- 5/5
overall great
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
The property was very clean, safe, and comfortable!
- 4/5
The hotel was generally fine, but in need of some upgrading in my opinion. Pool area old looking too. Device great and friendly. Price kind of high but very convenient in center city location.
- 3/5
This visit it was necessary to leave the bathroom ventilation fan on for the duration due to a mildew small. Toilet was not as clean as previous visit as well.
- 5/5
I was attending a concert at the next door Proctors Theatre and loved that all I had to do was take a few steps and I was safely in the venue
- 4/5
The room was great. The kitchen area had a sink, microwave, and refrigerator. The breakfast was good. The muffins and potatoes were delicious. The only negative was that the shower was stuck on massage mode and only one section of it worked. In their defense, I didn't contact anyone about it. It wasn't a painful massage setting. My boyfriend and I will definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
Staff was friendly.. room was cleaned. However the shower were filthy
- 5/5
Great place! Staff were super friendly and very clean!
- 5/5
This is a very unique hotel with lots of character. Great location and the staff was pleasant and friendly.
- 5/5

- 4/5
Staff was helpful with dinner referrals/suggestions
- 5/5
Great staff very friendly
- 5/5
Very nice. The hotel allowed me to leave my car on the premises hours before check- in with no hesitation. I felt that was excellent customer service.
- 5/5
Comfortable, close to everything, quaint little shops nearby, Amtrak station a five minute walk away. Pool needed a bit of a scrub, otherwise pristine hotel.
- 5/5
Close to where I needed to go early the next morning
- 5/5
Perfectly situation in downtown Schenectady, ideal to visit the historical district and the local shopping scene. All the while being a hop and a skip away from the Amtrak station.
- 4/5
Good location for restaurants and shops. One downfall for the room was no place to hang up clothes. Didn’t notice this at first until I seen a do not hang sign near the sprinkler system in room. So someone probably did this. You would think that would make you realize that this needs to be addressed. Staff was courteous and the breakfast staff were awesome. Would stay again
- 5/5
Front desk Staff was nice and polite . Ms Felicia in the breakfast area was very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean. The only issue with our stay was the house keeper attempting to enter the room at 10am. When he had an 11am check out
- 3/5
We stayed 3 nights and had no room or bathroom cleaning for the whole stay. We found out rooms were meant to be serviced every second day.
