Reviews
The hotel staff is generally friendly and helpful, but the property is outdated and in need of renovation. The location is convenient for some, but parking is limited and can be an issue.

Staff were very nice. They are improving the rooms, stairs, and other areas. Currently, there is some kind of odor to construction materials and paint but just in the hallway of 4th floor. Very centric place. Elevators are very slow and tiny. In peak times you will have to wait few minutes. Is not a place for "desperate" people whom get angry waiting. It is a nice place if you want to relax and take the time in a chill mode -not in a hurry. Breakfast buffet is a plus. Limited parking available for an extra daily fee. Magnetic keys need to be replaced, stop working constantly. I think all places have pro and cons. The current cons are temporary and they are taking action to solve them. I will definitely stay again in the near future.

I choose the hotel for its location and stayed for 4 days. The renovated room and experience was much improved from my previous stay. The room was clean, comfortable and had a nice size fridge and a microwave. I did not like the far too dark elevator lighting, cheap blue string lights in the lobby or the old, clunky bar level type long table which took up far too much space in the lobby but believe continued renovations might change these things. More importantly, the abrupt removal of the buffet breakfast took place by multiple staff grabbing food from under guests as they stood at the buffet trying to plate food. This was unprofessional and rude which I witnessed each morning I stayed. At the very least, a verbal warning should have taken place letting guests know breakfast would be ending in a few minutes. But snatching food from under guests was just not ok.
- 4/5
Reservation, room and security staff were helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was decent but abruptly shut down at 9:30 sharp and snatched away from multiple guests standing over the buffet to get food. The lighting in the elevators was far too dark!

I'm not into rating or reviews, but I must bring to attention a couple of things. Let me first point out that during check in the staff was very helpful and courteous. The young man behind the desk explained everything clearly, including the renovations that the hotel was going thru. The room was flawless. Clean and comfortable. The two things I want to point out is one, around 8:45 am housekeeping entered the room. Not a huge problem, but something that should be addressed. Especially if check out time is 11am. The second incident was a bit more. After leaving, a couple blocks away my girlfriend realized that she thought she left her small purse in the room. We returned and told the young lady behind the front desk, and she escorted us to the room in which we retrieved the purse, but as she passed us and we thanked her I clearly heard her say, this is f-ing bulls**t. I don't know or understand where that came considering that the checkout went as smooth as the checking. I'm not going to get into detail about what should happen or steps that should be taken, but it is another issue that should be addressed. I would like to also say that this incident will not change my mind in the future about staying at this hotel. It's a great hotel with reasonable prices. It wasn't my first stay and it surely won't be my last. Thank you.

Had a good stay with my family. Near American University (20 minutes). Excellent daily breakfast options which are constantly replenished. The hotel is newly renovated with clean carpets. The bed was very comfortable. Tip: Use the public parking lot off of Kings as it is much cheaper than parking on the hotel premises.

Arrived at 1:30 ...clerk told me "no check ins before 3." She didn't even try to see if any room was ready. Came back at 9....no parking available. I was here 5 months before....the renovations were still a mess....dust everywhere, workout room, equipment was in terrible shape....stairway was indescribably horrid....I come to Silver Spring several times a year....never again staying here. Actually, breakfast was good, but it's not worth it.
- 5/5
Great location and great staff and the breakfast is great
- 3/5
Room was clean and recently renovated. Staff was helpful. Coffee in lobby was great. Only thing I didn’t love was the fact that the $20 parking was sold out. The parking lot itself was tiny so it just affect the majority of the guests. The front desk was nice enough to point out that there is a parking garage next door or metered street parking. Parking garage is free from 10PM to 7AM which was convenient since we were only staying 1 night. Not sure about the cost otherwise.

Starting the front desk guys to the restaurant server they were exceptionally great employees and they provided excellent service for all my needs.they deserve promotion and raise 🙏

Breakfast was good. Everything was clean. The staff were amazing. So helpful.
- 3/5
During my most recent stay, the check-in experience was still positive—the front desk staff were polite and professional. However, the checkout experience was noticeably different. The staff at that time were not very friendly, and there was a lack of presence at the desk. Basic customer service and courtesy seemed to be missing. I also experienced issues with some of the amenities. The internet, which had worked well in the past, was very slow this time. Even streaming short YouTube videos was difficult, as they frequently buffered and stopped midway. Breakfast was another area that felt below expectations. The hot meal options were quite limited, with only a few items available and minimal variety. Overall, this stay felt average compared to my previous visits, which were much better. I hope the hotel can address these inconsistencies, as I know from experience that they are capable of providing a much higher standard of service.
- 5/5
Not enough onsite parking, but the public parking garage right around the corner was very easy to use.
- 1/5
Its fine
- 3/5
Room was clean staff very friendly but it was very noisy due to people in the halls, we checked in & left room only to check out people putting cigarettes out on the floor in the back of lobby approached by people who didn’t seem to be staying in hotel. Thank you to registration staff & security for stopping this & respecting privacy!
- 5/5
It would be 5 stars across the board if they were all done with renovations, but the room was nice, the staff was fantastic the breakfast was good, the coffee machines were always ready to go. It was in a walkable area. About a half mile from the metro station and had a bus stop right in front of the building.
- 3/5
The hotel was pretty average... Very limited parking, which you also have to pay for ($20 a day). Staff was super friendly! Once the hotel finishes renovations, I'm sure it will be a lot nicer.
- 5/5
Rooms clean, beds comfortable, staff friendly

The gym did not have enough equipment and the equipment that they had was faulty and did not work the treadmill was too loud and clunked the left foot part of the elliptical was shotty. My original room 3 20 had standing water in the tub the bathroom was dirty I was supposed to have two queen rooms for the night however I ended up having to move because I had one Queen room and then one king room they must have oversold the double Queens I will say that Rome was fantastic and helping to organize it but it's still involved having to pack up six people's worth of stuff and bringing it down which was not helpful also breakfast could use some more gluten-free stuff the staff member there was a sweet young lady but I don't know if she understood what I was saying
- 5/5
Staff was helpful, room was clean, what else could I ask for
- 4/5
Staff is trying hard to make this a comfortable and relaxing venue. And the renovation works they are doing did not disrupt our stay. The facility needs updating, but overall it was a good visit

Front desk staff was amazingly helpful. My cousin kept flipping during the night and waking me up. I was able to go to the front desk and they gave me an extra comforter, and I was able to get some Advil p.m. The room was large and loved the bathroom amenities. Breakfast was great. I couldn’t believe they had omelettes. Would definitely stay there again. It was less than 2 miles from my mom’s house. We were able to walk there in 30 minutes.

- 4/5
The staff was very kind and helpful.
- 2/5
Very disappointed. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. However, the site was another thing. Had to change rooms due to unbearable construction noise. Carpet in room was sticky and smelled. Near the height of the mattress, a piece of the wall, about 16 x 16, just fell off exposing a large hole with pipes (that a rodent could get through) The adjoining door was askew making me very nervous. I’d planned to stay another day or get a late check out but left at about 4:30 am instead. I like the it had a fridge, microwave, gym, washer/dryer, and free breakfast but would give them up for cleanliness anytime.

Clean room, friendly staff, comfy, great breakfast

Clean room, clean hallways and other public areas. All staff at every shift was cheerful, helpful, and knowlegable about the surrounding Md. and D.C. area. Two staff members in particular stand out: The young man on front desk 1/15/26 in the early am hrs (1-3) assisted me with technology on my own laptop as the hotel's computer wasn't quite working and I needed to meet a 9am deadline. The young lady on front desk morning hrs (around 6-9 am) 1/16/26 and check out 1/17, was extremely graceful under the external pressure and demands from other guests on her attention as I observed. She was teeming with knowledge about the D.C. area attractions other than the Smithsonians, and even had tips on sights in the Baltimore Md. area in which we were visiting during our stay. Again, all staff, check-in, breakfast, and check-out, were graceful, knowledgeable, and beyond helpful. We intend to use this HDExpress again.
- 5/5
Room was large and very clean. The beds were super comfy and lovely pillows. All staff members were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was nice not much variety but hit the spot. And a fabulous coffee machine. Really good shower and lovely soft towels. Hotel is a bit dated but renovations have started. Easy to get to and from city centre. Will definitely be back.

I was pleasantly surprised when it came to the location. I assumed it was be hard to get in and out but it was not. I parked in the parking garage and when I did leave I had no issues. The staff was very friendly. My key wasn't working initially but someone came right up and fixed that issue for me. The location was perfect for where I was going and according to Google there were walkable places to eat. I would definitely stay here again!

Muy buena atención, habitaciones limpias y cómodas.
- 1/5
The hotel environment felt unsafe, with many individuals appearing to be under the influence of drugs, and the breakfast provided was far below the standard advertised and expected. Overall, the hotel quality was unacceptable. Given that I did not complete the full stay I paid for—and considering the substandard conditions—I am requesting a refund for the unused nights.

Not at all
- 5/5
All was on point
- 3/5
I was very confused about the parking situation. The site said public parking was $15 but I was told by staff that I had to go to my car at 7am to pay to avoid getting a ticket. The garage felt very unsafe at nightfall.

Room amenities, including bedsheets, towels and blankets are old. Hallway covered with old, filthy and smelling carpet. Room keys and elevator often times malfunction multiple times. There are good people at the front desk, but at the same time there are very rude, impatient, unprofessional front desk staff and security staff special at night. I will never ever be back to this place and will never recommend to anybody.

Please note that at this hotel they add an additional 100 for incidentals. Apparently you will get this back when you leave. It will be added back to the CC you used. Just be aware that you need that additional 100 dollars. Hotels.com did not make me aware of this.
- 4/5
Room was clean and well supplied. Bathtub missing stopper.
- 2/5
Their staff was really friendly and very helpful but the hotel not that recommendable. My room smelled really bad. I could stay just one night and had to get another hotel.
- 2/5
The staff was great. When I woke up there were little bugs on the desk and night stand. Parking is extremely tight and there aren't that many spots for $20 a night,

The staff were amazing, friendly and hospitable. They gave my children free donuts and they were so kind to us. Our children are ready to come back and they fell in love with the team at the front desk.

I was familiar with the brand but didn't stay at any of them in a long time. What a pleasant surprise. Super clean room, it was quiet, the internet was good, the staff were helpful and there's a 24 hour coffee drink machine in the lobby. There is also a 7/11 across the street, and the location is super central to a bunch of stuff that i needed to do. Thanks.!!! I will stay there again
- 4/5
Laundry service convenient. Staff quickly addressed any issue that came up. Staff very receptive to feedback. I'd come back to stay.
- 5/5
Stayed while visiting the Holy Cross Hospital. Room was comfortable and spacious. First night air flow in room was limited so it was a bit stuffy in the morning. Paid for parking on Sunday but it would have been free for Sunday at the garage next door but there was a lot of construction in the area that made the hotel entrance and parking a bit high to find. Front desk staff was great. Breakfast provided was excellent.
- 5/5
Customer service was very nice.even nicer than I expected. I had a lovely stay. This was my first time staying at holiday Inn and I will definitely stay there again. I would recommend my friends.

My wife and I are so frustrated with this hotel. The room has a smell which is off-putting and we have a video of a cockroach walking causally across the desk while I was working. We have gone through 5 room keys trying to use the door lock and still getting locked out. I had to go down to the front desk 3 times now in two days trying to get working room keys. We had one working key which now is not working. (The lock is very loose and does not appear to be functioning properly.) Today we had food and things in our hands and going to our room the keycard we had working now failed, to which my wife had to wait outside the door holding food and other things while I tried to get the key issue resolved. When I went down to the front desk, I got attitude from the desk clerk who was trying to deal with another issue when they started talking about colleges as I was standing there trying to get help. My wife was still up by our room in the hallway outside our door holding several items including coffee and other items she could not put down. In addition, the elevator is horribly slow which adds to the frustration. Today at breakfast (8 am) the biscuits and eggs were gone and did not seem like anyone was attending the issue - so skipped breakfast. All this I'm explaining is within less than the first 36 hours of our stay. In trying to get help on the IHG web site I got dropped from the chat 3 times while talking to an agent and had to start the conversation over. At that point I was

1. They have a MAJOR PEST control problem: I found SEVERAL ROACHES and BED BUGS in my room and in the hallways! I don’t even know how many roaches I killed, and did not realize there were bed bugs until my last night. The housekeeper during my stay was very nice and not at all surprised about the Pest issues. There were also so many flies at that hotel. I added photos of the roaches I killed. 2. During breakfast, a guest THREW UP (yes, vomitted) ALL over the breakfast bar. Then nonchalantly wiped his mouth with his hands and continued to grab juice. This happened right in front of a hotel staff member. When I went up to the hotel staff member to alert of the situation, she reacted like she did not care and did not want to be bothered, even though she witnessed the entire thing. In a situation like this, disinfecting and ending the breakfast service IMMEDIATELY is the first thing to do because this is a major health hazard and the area becomes a biohazard. They did not react immediately and breakfast services continued as normal. 3. Rude staff member with micro-aggressive tone. She was unnecessary rude solely because I was standing near the entrance. There were many reasons but these were the major 3.

Housekeeping was nice. Room was always cleaned during my stay. Did not encounter any of the issues, mentioned in the posted negative comments. 7-Eleven across the street was handy for fueling of my car and getting some snacks. Would consider for future stays.

If you care about your safety DO NOT STAY HERE. If you want decent customer service DO NOT STAY HERE. It’s dirty. The staff are rude (except faith and luther). And there is NO PARKING.
- 3/5
Run down, not well maintained, criminally priced daily parking, overzealous security guard that pesters guests but wont do anything about the hood rats running up and down the halls and having arguments at 3 in the morning. Maids never came in our room to replace towels, or remove trash, the only think they did was make a bed or two and leave. I stayed for 5 nights so you can imagine how inconvenient that was.
- 3/5
We book this hotel every year for the weekend. It’s clean, comfortable, with a lot of great places super close. The metro station is right up the road for us to go back and forth to the DC convention center. Parking is easy with garages available, one directly behind the hotel with no cost after 10pm or on Sunday, We usually have no complaints but this year was a little off. I was surprised about the extra $100 deposit on our hotel rate that will be refunded after 7-10 days. The hotel was already $80 more than last year without this additional fee. Our room seemed to not be ready and we checked in around 930pm. While the hotel desk attendant was very courteous and friendly to interact with, he left me awkwardly at the counter to go check on our room for several minutes. The room was clean with lots of towels and pillows. I love having a coffee machine and refrigerator/freezer which I use every time I come. The complimentary breakfast is always a top reason we come to this Silver Spring hotel to travel into DC. We were disappointed this year. Though their were plenty of great options to choose from, the pancake machine was out of service, the juice in the machine was watered down, the food was room temp some rather cold and the attendant didn’t refill the food right away like years before so we had to wait a long time for eggs. Sunday, we came down for breakfast around 9 and when we went back to our room to pack up, our keycard was no longer active and we couldn’t get in.
- 5/5
I drove my personal vehicle to the hotel. The manager on duty was very helpful. He advised me to park at a meter which was visible from the front desk, where they could see it, and hotel security could keep an eye on it. I paid for the first 2 hours. then the meter was free from 10pm until 9am. Very hel

All the appliances were really old, and our iron and TV weren't working, but overall, it's a decent hotel.

Location convenient is the only thing going for it. But area is sketchy. Not enough onsite parking, misleading advertising forced to use public parking around the corner with guys sitting outside rolling a blunt! Not recommended option if you get other options

Rude staff. Bathroom pipe is not working. They assigned us on totall opposite direction even though we book twonrooms in same reservation. Breakfast are no orange juice pancake machine is broken for both days, also I complain about those and the chairs ( loose legs any one can felll from that) no action taken yet even though I raise the safety concers. My second day the same problems are still there. Never go back
- 4/5
Really friendly staff but area around hotel inc car park and entrances is not welcoming and unkept. Area around hotel not great either. Room we stayed in needs updating and not what I usually expect from a Holiday Inn. The curtains had presided and had been repaired with tape that had discoloured and looked awful. Also let light through. I don’t understand why they haven’t been replaced. Very poor. Friendly staff made the stay acceptable and saved a worse review.

The reception staff had a bad attitude, were rude, and unfriendly. The air conditioning didn't work. It felt very hot. We didn't even want to return to the room, just knowing how hot it was. Honestly, I wouldn't stay there again next year, much less recommend it.

The location was seedy and the parki g was prepaid without enough spaces

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Trouble with our keys working. Didn’t like the fact that we couldn’t park in the hotel parking lot. Had to go to parking garage each morning at 7am to pay.

Room was clean and supplied with clean towels, body wash shampoo. Receptionist was very friendly. I didn't like that the security supervisor chose to fire one othe employee in the lobby and created a commotion.
- 3/5
The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff was responsive. It’s not in a great neighborhood to go for a run or a jog. A little bit rundown.
- 4/5
It was an overall great experience!

Overall we were happy with our stay. It is very noisy at night both inside and outside of the hotel. We also had to pay $20/ per night to park which I feel should be included with your stay.

I guess you get what you pay for. Surprised a Holiday Inn was so bad.
- 3/5
The young man working at the desk was polite and accommodating. It did not make me feel great when he had to call housekeeping to see what rooms were available. Also, there was a very strong smell of pot in the hallway -- not great. The room was clean and quiet but the pervasive pot smell is a bit of a deal killer.

Inside Washington DC beltline with extremely limited parking and charging for what available parking exists. This is a price gouging ploy.

It was a nice stay

Everything was ok the customer services desk was very good

I have been requesting a receipt for my stay so I can expense it for my job. No one has been able to send this to me.

Good place

The stay was horrible, everything looked outdated. It smelled and looked bad. It wasn’t worth the cost so I checked out a day early and found a new hotel.

The staff was nice

Easy check in, very kind welcome. Property is correct, I am quite pleased especially at such a reasonable price 10/10

I loved it

The only downside was you have to pay for parking.
- 5/5
Wonderfully located, easy walk to the train station to take you right into the heart of DC. Within a 10 minute walk, downtown Silver Springs offers plenty of shopping and dining options. Attentive management and staff.
- 2/5
No exhaust or door lock for bathroom and mattress is not good too.
- 4/5
I mean nothing to expect too much from here. Generally Ok. Staff is ok, bed is ok. Not too bad. You can survive here.
- 3/5
Many broken items: room safe, key locks, coffee machine and pancake maker. The staff was friendly enough and rooma were clean, but lacked knowledge about the surrounding area including public parking. Parking on the facility was booked up and the staff couldn't give you exact details abut public parking next door

I am trying to be fair and say they really try hard their. The place is just overdue for a remodeling job bad. What is there was clean

Okay

WE HAD TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY CHECK OUT AFTER CHECKING IN AFTER TWO MIDDLE AGED FEMALE MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY WAS FOLLOWED INTO THE ELEVATOR BY A STRANGE MAN WHO THEN WAITED FOR THE DOORS TO CLOSE AND THEN ASK THEM IF THEY WERE "FREAKS" DID THEY WANT TO PARTY AND TO COME UP TO HIS ROOM. BOTH LADIES WERE SO UPSET AND FELT SO AFRAID WE LEFT.

Just put more stuff on front desk when they registered, long line and wait.. wait.. wait……….

This is a very convenient hotel, simple, clean and check-in was very nice and very efficient. We were happily surprised with a hot breakfast that was included. Parking was also included for an extra nominal fee, but very convenient. Overall, a very good last minute choice.

Nice area

Okay for a quick night in town... Limited parking very tight spots... 20$ just to park in hotel u already paid for or have to park next door in a parking garage...

We stayed in silver springs to go to dc. This was an easy walk to the metro, bus & am track station. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly & informative. Breakfast was also very good. Would definitely stay again.

I picked this hotel for the parking on site. There were no spots for my car.
