Reviews
The Rabbit Ears Motel is a beloved establishment in Steamboat Springs, known for its prime location and friendly staff. Guests appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms and the proximity to downtown, the hot springs, and other local attractions.
- Prime location near downtown, hot springs, and other attractions
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Some guests find the rooms and furnishings dated
- Occasional noise from surrounding rooms or traffic
- 5/5
The room was clean, and right on the river. We enjoyed having the sliding glass door open during the night with the screen closed. Parking was available close to the unit and the room was large.
- 5/5
The sound of the river was awesome and the staff was amazing!!!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The property is located on a very beautiful area and easy to access the river.
- 5/5
It is also convenient that the city's hot springs are right across the street.
- 5/5
Great location, updated rooms, helpful staff
- 5/5
The location is hard to beat—downtown, along the river, and with plenty of self-parking available. Everything we wanted to see and do was within easy walking distance. The complimentary breakfast is very basic, consisting mainly of coffee, cereal, and toast. That's not really a drawback given the number of excellent breakfast spots just a few blocks away. The only issue we encountered was that the lock on the sliding glass door didn't seem particularly secure. As a precaution, we chose not to leave valuables in the room. Aside from that minor concern, this was an excellent stay in a fantastic location
- 4/5
Our room was perfect! Amazing river view with a nice little balcony, and two very comfortable Queen size beds. The continental breakfast was delicious! I would stay there again in a second! Great location, rooms, food and staff!
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
This motel has one of the best locations to downtown Steamboat Springs people. We’ve stayed there numerous times and I’ve never been unhappy with the facility or the personnel. They have tended to go out of their way to help. Though a bit more the river view rooms are exceptional.
- 5/5
Perfect spot for the night…wonderful location for seeing the city!
- 4/5
The room was clean but they need to upgrade the bedding! Very dated! Would have been nice to have a living room type chair to sit in! Thank you!
- 5/5
very nice
- 4/5
Parking was sufficient but breakfast was sparse. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the historic Rabbit Ears. Friendly staff, well maintained, great walkable location by the river on the edge of downtown, free parking, EV charger, nice breakfast. We had a deluxe room on the second floor with a lovely balcony overlooking the river. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Great low-budget room, adjacent to river and trails. Very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
The grounds are perfect
- 5/5
Clean and relaxing place. Very good location.
- 4/5
Beautiful place right on the Yampa River. In town and close to the hot springs. Breakfast could be better. I would recommend this place.
- 5/5
Parking is easy and there's enough space. The family staff are friendly.
- 5/5
We love this place. Staff is excellent, rooms are clean and updated. Parking was great, location is awesome. Breakfast was very nice. AND it’s right on the river which you can see and hear.
- 5/5
Breakfast was lacking but the area was great and safe! Many breakfast places in the area.
- 5/5
Great place to stay, our stay turned into an extended stay after a job interview, this is a well cared for lovely place to stay and you can walk to the hot springs (literally across the street) and downtown. The best place to stay in Steamboat!
- 5/5
Great.
- 5/5
Minimal breakfast offerings.
- 5/5
Older place, but amazing location. Love that the bus is right out front to get to the ski resort
- 5/5
Great place close to downtown. Easy parking, clean rooms, friendly staff and discount tickets available gift the hot springs across the street.
- 5/5
The Rabbit Ears Motel was a gem of a stay! Super friendly staff at check in and out, (Derek and THE Beth we read about in the article posted in the breakfast area), beautiful, extremely clean room, excellent location….just WOW. Highly recommend a stay here!

We love the Rabbit Ears.
- 4/5
The motel is located in town which was nice to walk around. A motel was clean and the staff was very friendly.
- 4/5
This is a great hotel that is family owned. The staff were friendly and professional.
- 4/5
Great location and value priced for this fancy Mountain town. Small basic rooms are spiffy clean. Breakfast offered is quite modest
- 5/5
Super clean. No surprise charges. Nice balcony overlooking river. Walkable to town. Great for dogs.
- 5/5
The staff were all so friendly and we felt very comfortable during our stay. Getting a riverfront view was an added bonus
- 5/5
The Rabbit Ears has been a favorite of ours for many years. It's nothing fancy, but the staff is excellent. It is at a perfect location in downtown Steamboat, with a bus stop right next to the motel, for easy transit to the mountain. We recommend a king room with sofa, lots of space!
- 5/5
Lovely family-owned motel. Nice breakfast room with good breakfast selection (and friendly guests!). Super convenient for skiing - the free bus stops right outside. Easy walk to numerous restaurants. Grocery store next door. Friendly and informative staff. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Great access to downtown and the resort
- 5/5
Clean rooms, pet friendly, right across from hot springs. Totally loved it
- 5/5
Room was clean and beautiful view of river
- 5/5
Convenient location. Bus stop to ski area is close. Easy to walk thru downtown
- 5/5
We are happy to support a family owned and operated business that interacts with their customers, in person. All the staff were very pleasant, helpful and courteous. The location is perfect for visiting the area. Our room was comfortable and more than sufficient for our 2 night stay. We'll stay there again on our next visit to Steamboat!
- 5/5
Front desk staff were amazing and helpfull and fun in every way possible! We don’t always stay here but when we don’t want to spend 5-10k a week to be slopeside, this is the perfect option and walkable to everything downtown.
- 5/5
Wish I would have had a river view but maybe next time. Appreciated the balcony and large size of the room. Comfortable!
- 5/5
Great location. Rooms cleaned every day. Coffee in room awesome.
- 5/5
Fun accessible motel for being out on the town or a weekend get away for the hot springs!
- 5/5
Rooms were coated in lysol which is good but the smell was a lot. Small room, clean. Nice updated shower. No real complaints. Oooo a waffle maker would really kick breakfast off.
- 5/5
Quiet room. They even gave us a room with a view of the river!
- 4/5
Convenient location to bus stop and across from old towne hot springs. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Clean, nothing fancy room. Great location right down town across from the Hot Springs and easy walk to restaurants and shops.
- 5/5
Amazing historic motel in the heart of Steamboat Springs. Don’t expect it to be the Four Seasons but it is 100% clean and not dingy at all. We’ve found our go to lodging whenever we come back to Steamboat.
- 5/5
Tidy and clean room, amazing location with the free bus stop to the ski area right in front of the motel.
- 5/5
The most comfortable hotel bed we ever stayed with. The staff was excellent. The location was perfect, very close to restaurants and right on the bus line to the mountain. And the Town Hot Springs were across the road.
- 5/5
Staff was welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean, beds were comfortable. Could not be more convenient with the bus stop immediately adjacent to the property. Downtown location meant we had plenty of options for restaurants, fun shopping and coffee shops. 10/10 will be back.
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the Rabbit Ears! Friendly staff, great price, super clean room, free breakfast. Most of all, the location is perfect for walking to everything we needed in old town. And the bus to the slopes and everywhere else stops right outside every 15 minutes. Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Rabbit ears motel is definitely one of a kind . Rooms are clean and the location is great . Ski bus just outside front entrance. Some of the rooms over look a creek at back remember to request one of these.Breakfast was lacking wouldn’t take much to improve this . As tourist from another country maybe the staff could be more informative of thing happening and things to do in steamboat.
- 4/5
The location is super convenient to downtown, the free shuttle to the mountain, hot springs and health food store. My room was comfortable and very clean. The evening staff was super friendly and my only complaint would be the traffic noise which is of no fault to the hotel itself, but noticeable when on the room deck. I’d stay there again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Friendly staff, easy check-in and clean rooms.
- 5/5
For an older motel it was sufficiently updated with carpeting and bath and roomy, go temp controls and special view of a mountain creek while right in town.
- 5/5
Perfect place to stay for skiing, bus picks you up right outside the motel. Great location for walking to restaurants and shops. Will always stay here. The staff is awesome, one of the staff members jumped our truck when it got so cold overnight that our battery died, spending a good half hour to help us out. Thank you!!!!!
- 5/5
Nothing fancy, does the job great.
- 5/5
The staff is the best. Been staying here for years and it’s always great. Rooms are very comfortable and the locations awesome. Thanks
- 5/5
Great staff and location! We walked to dinner each night and hopped right on the bus that took us to the mountain in 12 minutes. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they slept our family nicely with each “couch beds” in addition to the two queens. The balcony over the river was pretty. We will definitely stay at Rabbit Ears again!
- 4/5
Breakfast was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely would recommend this place.
- 5/5
Nice and convenient location.
- 4/5

Love love love this place, every single time I go.
- 5/5
great spot and friendly staff!
- 5/5
We love this motel. Its beds are comfortable the staff is very friendly and the location is easy to access. They have passes for the hot springs across the street and they provide towels. We don’t stay anywhere else when we come to Steamboat.
- 5/5
Good location, good breakfast, good view, comfortable room.
- 5/5
Been staying in Steamboat a few nights a month for 8-9 years. So glad the Rabbit Ears is an oasis for a road warrior. Family operated, super friendly, and welcoming.
- 5/5
We love Rabbit Ears
- 5/5
We had a great stay here. The free parking is nice, the free bus has a stop right in front of the hotel, only a 15ish minute ride to the ski resort. Very short walk to downtown shopping, and dining.
- 3/5
The room did not do justice to the online pictures.
- 5/5
More cereal options!
- 4/5
Yes
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Liked the lower level. No one above us pray🙏 Last time we were on the upper level and it was good too!
- 5/5
The hotel is great, right downtown close to food and across from a hot spring! Right on the river by a park so great access to walks for the dog too!! Breakfast was simple, but it was nice that it was included and open early so I could get to the mountain bright and early!
- 5/5
The motel was clean, organised and smooth. Management was helpful and polite
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly and helpful staff, good location.
- 4/5
The room was pretty standard, but the location was very good. Our balcony looked out on the Yampa River and a great Hot Springs is right across the street.
- 5/5
Great place to stay I’ve been going there for years
- 5/5
The room was so cute, clean and cozy. The staff were extremely nice and the discount to the Hot springs is definitely worth it!
- 5/5
Great veiws rnice walking path a long the river easy to get to
- 5/5
Super clean, very friendly staff, and right on the Yampa River! Walking distance to many things including the hot springs.
- 5/5
Great place!
- 5/5
👍
- 4/5
Nice and convenient
- 5/5
Quiet, peaceful and restful. Clean room, friendly staff. The view from our balcony of the Yampa river was wonderful. Steps from downtown shopping and eating. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, excellent location and value.
- 4/5
My favorite motel during a two-week road trip. Staff were the best!
- 5/5
For a traveler with a dog, this place has it all. The park area and walking available is beautiful, safe and enriching. The room was small, but I was only there one night. It was quiet and very convenient- could unload car right into room. I walked downtown and brought food back. All very easy and quick. Loved it.
- 5/5
Beautiful view of creek, lovely park just a few steps away. Nice laundry facilities. Convenient.park8ng and close to hot springs.
- 4/5
A classic motel, not flashy but very well kept. Good breakfast and wonderfully walkable to downtown area. Would certainly stay again.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Nice to he next to the river. It is conveniently located close to many of Steamboat’s attractions.
- 3/5
Tiny rooms, noisy AC unit, a lot of street noise because on Main Street/ road in/out of town. Chosen because ez to walk to restaurants, shopping but won’t stay there again.
- 5/5
Felt safe and the staff was super friendly.
- 5/5
Great option
- 5/5
We rode all day on our motorcycles through the rain and cold and we're freezing when we arrived. The room was perfect and we turned up the heat and took a nice hot shower, which was amazing. Thank you Rabbit ears!
- 5/5
Nice location with access to walking paths.
- 5/5
I found the staff very friendly and easy to work with ... accommodating.
- 5/5
Cute motel! Close to everything
- 5/5
The property is very clean and the beds/pillows are great. If you just need a place to sleep, Rabbit Ears is perfect!! Nothing fancy, but super clean and excellent maintenance, so while it is an old "motel" it doesn't give you that creepy vibe. The staff is also really friendly.
- 3/5
Clean room, getting older and with 4 suitcases and stairs gets to you, did not find thermostat on wall until day we left, was warm and air conditioning was really loud, was our second trip, breakfast not really great, when checking out, representative never said thank you or enjoy your day
- 4/5
Rabbit Ears Motel is a Steamboat Springs Icon. We have been going to Steamboat for decades and decided to try out the motel. We were not disappointed. The room was nicely appointed and very clean; the staff was friendly and helpful. It was quite nice to be able to walk to downtown. All in all, a very nice experience.
- 4/5
Ok
- 5/5
The experience was wonderful! The staff that checked us in was very friendly and helpful as we needed directions to the tennis courts in town. There was a continental breakfast the next morning that was nice to have available to save time to get to the tournament! The room was very clean and had a hair dryer and ironing board and iron, as well as shampoo, conditioner and body cream. Checking out was fast and seamless. I would recommend this motel as it was a great experience! I wish we would have had a few more nights there but the tournament was only one day and we had to get back to the grindstone!! Thanks for everything!!!
- 5/5
Yes, the room was clean and orderly. A pleasure to stay here.
- 5/5
Left early. But comfortable bed Good coffee & toasted raisin bread for breakfast.
- 5/5
Stayed 5 nights here with our two corgis. Room was very clean with all the amenities you would like (microwave, mini-fridge, lots of drawer space, ironing board, etc). The decor is basic but functional and I found the bed very comfortable. Our room had a small deck with a view overlooking the river, which was a pleasant surprise. The office staff was helpful and accommodating when we asked to extend a night. Location is perfect. Within easy walking of groceries, the hot springs, shopping, and dining. Great place to stay with pets as it is next to a park with lots of space to walk your pets. Will definitely make it a priority to stay here again.
- 4/5
Nice staff and room was clean and really liked the balcony. Included breakfast was fine.
- 5/5
Convenient location and friendly staff! Needs some upgrades, toilets, being an older facility!
- 5/5
Easy check in. Staff very friendly. Room is clean.
- 5/5
Iconic Steamboat Springs motel with friendly staff, quiet, small but efficient and well appointed room with comfortable bed, great shower, and nice size TV. Who could ask for more?
- 5/5
Great place by the river
- 4/5
Very convenient to downtown and has a good standard breakfast.
- 4/5
My overall stay at this property was a great experience. Loved the location also it was pet friendly and on the river. Thumbs up for the Rabbit Ears Motel!!!
- 5/5
It's right across the street from the Old Town Hot Springs (which they have discounted rates) and right next to 3rd Street in case you are going to Strawberry Hot Springs. Besides easy access to the Hot Springs, it is in downtown Steamboat Springs, so everything is within walking distance. As I mentioned, the room and bathroom were clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The buildings and grounds are well maintained. We will definitely be staying there again next year when we visit Strawberry Hot Springs.
- 4/5
The front desk people were very friendly and helpful with a lot of information. They offered discount passes for the hot springs directly across the street which was greatly appreciated. The privately owned motel - albeit older - was clean and comfortable. Actually very quiet and so very convenient for walking to shopping and restaurants. Only negative comment to be made was the very minimal breakfast options the motel offers their guests. Perhaps a muffin or even better cold cereal choices. Coffee was good tho. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Loved that you kept the iconic rabbit sign. Also like the river in the back with balconies that overlook it.
- 5/5
This is a traditional old school motel. That said, what isn’t traditional is it is immaculately clean, and smells fresh. I love to park right out my door. Easy for luggage, very convenient. The service at the desk is prompt, kind. and helpful.
- 5/5
Staff is paticularliy kind and helpful. We would happily stay here on a return trip to the area
- 5/5
I liked that the motel is family owned. Everyone seemed to take pride in what they were doing. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
The room we had was by the river and had an accessible sliding door to a deck.
- 5/5
This is not your typical motel. It’s very clean and well taken care of. Excellent location and walkable to plenty of shopping, dining & drinking options. 100% would stay again.
- 5/5
Awesome place close to town and right on the river! Would stay again
- 5/5
A fun spot! Staff was excellent. Cool partnerships for amenities. Loved the location.
- 4/5
If you’re looking for a quaint oils school property this is it. Rooms are small
- 5/5
Close to pools and downtown and buses .an okay breakfast ...advertised as a simple breakfast, so I wasn't disappointed
- 5/5
We got lucky and had a room on the lower level of the "back building". Our room had a sliding door that opened to a small deck overlooking the river. I've stayed in a lot of hotels all over the State, but this was the best exterior experience I've had. The bathroom fixtures were new and the bedding was very comfortable. Excellent experience.
- 5/5
It’s great to be right across the street from the hot springs!
- 5/5
Love this Motel. Love Steamboat!
- 4/5
Worked for us. The proximity to Fish Creek Falls was okay. Continental breakfast left a bit to be desired. I don’t think the lady likes her job. 😞 Front desk staff were wonderful! The discount for the hot springs spa across the road was very much appreciated as were the extra towels. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
It was great. Awesome location!
- 5/5
Very fun hotel with clean rooms
- 5/5
An older hotel, one that we have stayed in the past when visiting Steamboat. Very convenient to downtown. We just parked the car and walked. We also walked to the wedding we were attending at the Botanic Gardens. Clean and comfortable and a friendly staff. We'd stay there again.
- 5/5
Previous to this we stayed at a very nice resort in steamboat. I’d stay here instead! People were so friendly, room so comfortable and it was close to everything!
- 5/5
Excellent, competent front desk. Lovely rooms on the Yampa!
- 5/5
Only issue was ants in bathroom near shower
- 5/5
Rabbit ears was clean and
- 5/5
This is a great motel! Clean, comfortable rooms. Walking distance to town, food, etc. Friendly staff.
- 5/5
Friendly Helpful
- 5/5
Love the Rabbit!
- 4/5
Our two night stay at the Rabbit Ears motel was fine. Very simple, great location and far more affordable than most others.
- 3/5
Have stayed here before & it’s been fine for a quick economical stay in Steamboat. This time there was food left in fridge from last occupants, only 2 thin pillows on the bed, & room extremely small. Feel like I paid too much for nothing special.
- 5/5
Great service! Wonderful place to stay in Steamboat.
- 5/5
Sorry I don’t do reviews. But we had a great time at rabbit ears.
- 5/5
Great location and the end of town. Easy to walk to nearby restaurants and shopping. It's an older hotel, but no complaints from me. It was quiet and clean, not overpriced. What more could you really need?
- 5/5
Very nice staff. Discount for Hot Springs was well worth it. Nice big room and clean. Loved the riverside view and personal balcony.
- 5/5
Convenient location.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
This is our fifth stay at this motel. it is family run and like the motels of years ago very traditional in its layout. There’s always a friendly greeting and suggestions as to what to do in the Steamboat Springs area. We just simply find the places to be welcoming and friendly. The rooms are always clean with plenty of hot water. Every time we’ve stayed here the motel is full by mid evening. It is important you have reservations.
- 5/5
Love the staff here
- 5/5
Room had two beds, but also two couches in the corner. Could have slept four people.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast OK. AC was too loud.
- 5/5
We have loved coming here for so many years. The only unfortunate part is the new building going in basically adjacent to our room which is by no means a negative on the Rabbit Ears Hotel. Just a sign of the changing times.
- 4/5
Everything was good. I loved the convenient location. I was in town for a wedding and was able to walk to all festivities.
- 5/5
There is a
- 5/5
Older motel, but with charm. The AC unit didn't quite work right. Breakfast was nice.
- 5/5
Nice view of river, comfortable bed, great coffee in the AM, and friendly helpful staff !! Great location - - easy walk to shops and restaurants too.
- 2/5
Super small room with air conditioner (which was necessary this time of year), about 12 inches from the head of the bed roars so loudly, making it impossible to sleep.
- 5/5
It was really great for an inexpensive motel, much better than anticipated. The staff were great.
- 3/5
Sheets were pretty rough. Noise from the street made it impossible to enjoy the balcony, or open the window. Had to run the ac all night. Very noisy.
- 5/5
Nada
- 4/5
We had a very nice room. I loved the heater in the bathroom. It’s an old hotel but very comfortable. A couple of things we didn’t like was the access to the room was a steep decline or metal stairs needed for snow and ice, but intimidating to walk on. Also the continental breakfast was not good. It was very limited in choices.
- 5/5
Had everything I needed and walkable to tons of great places.
- 5/5
I loved seeing & hearing the river out our back door and balcony
- 5/5
This is such a great place to stay in Steamboat. Close to eveything downtown, beautiful riverside park, great staff, and discount tickets to hot springs.
- 5/5
Room amenities Continental breakfast, ice machine. Great place
- 5/5
Very modest appearance from the street, but it's been completely remodeled inside. The room was quiet, very clean, and with the bonus of looking right out onto the Yampa River. The A/C was efficient without being too loud. We would stay here again, because of the views of the river and the walkability into town and all the great restaurants!
- 5/5
Hot Springs pool across the street
- 5/5
I cannot say it enough- THIS WAS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY!!!!! Friendliest staff, clean rooms, great location. Amazing!!!!
- 5/5
Property was everything advertised - absolutely wonderful. Only thing lacking is a hot breakfast. Breakfast is stuck in the 1950s.
- 5/5
The hotel was clean, cute and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was big and clean, the soaps smelt nice ans the front desk staff was very nice. I loved that it backed up to the river, and was right next to a little soaking area in the river. Also super convenient that the hotel was across the street from the Hot Springs. The breakfast was a mediocre typical breakfast of cereal, yogurt, oatmeal (no waffles lol). We had a maid try to come in our room at 8am, but I think it was an honest mistake trying to go into the room next to us (she didn’t stick around to apologize). But overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again.
- 4/5
Great location.
- 4/5
Right on the Yampa River and walking distance to all restaurants and shopping Perfect location Mattresses and furniture really need updated otherwise it is perfect
- 2/5
The location, free parking and somewhat decent breakfast. Some staff nice and some not as welcoming. Bed was not very comfortable and no water station. Check-out time is strict and 10 minutes before checkout time we had an unfriendly knock and reminder that we needed to be out. Overall not an experience I will seek out when next time in town.
- 5/5
A nice lady to check me in was one of the nicest front desk clerks I’ve ever met. The view from my back of the of the river was absolutely amazing. The Hot Springs across the street and the walkable restaurants around me were perfect.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very clean. Also the hotel's location is very convenient with a wide choice of restaurants, shopping, and entertainment within easy walking distance.
- 5/5
Amazing and accommodating staff. Rooms are no frills but spotless clean. Perfect for one night or short stay. Walking distance to restaurants.
- 4/5
Friendly staff and a lovely historic motel with fresh updates.
- 4/5
Beautiful surroundings and great location
- 5/5
Continental breakfast had good options. Would highly recommend!
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
Awesome motel - pleasant surprise. Cute, clean, and comfortable.
- 5/5
Front desk people were very nice and helpful. Liked the hot springs across the street!
- 5/5
Beautiful view of the river from our balcony. Awesome location and very friendly staff. You can walk to the river trail either direction. Great stay!
- 5/5
Loved how close it was to everything! Staff was exceptional! Wish the bedspreads were a little newer, it would make the room nicer.
- 5/5
GrI at property right by a river. Very impressed with everything regarding the property. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Units against the river are awesome having the deck. Being next to the park and town is just perfect.
- 4/5
I wish they had decaf coffee at breakfast and in the room. Otherwise, room was adequate and close to the town area.
