The hotel has a room on level 7 that has a billiards table and snacks/sodas books and a fireplace. There is a Shula’s steakhouse inside the hotel. We did not eat there only because we had other reservations set much earlier. I am a bonvoy Marriott member, this is a signature hotel. With that they give an amazing breakfast each morning and it’s from the bistro not some silly continental breakfast like other hotels. You also get a $25 coupon for shulas and 50% off the valet. Plus 2 free drink coupons for level 8 bar. They do beers and wine on certain days for happy hour and food! That extra step was so nice compared to other places. My only issue was the pillows. The second night they replaced them with something a level higher. If they invested in foam pillows, I’d rate my stay a 10. There is even Starbucks in the lobby for free!

The property is beautiful, spotlessly clean, and in a great location. Best of all, the staff are absolutely incredible. Every team member we encountered was warm, professional, and went out of their way to ensure we felt welcome. I really wanted to give this hotel a perfect score because so much of our stay was wonderful. Unfortunately, a hotel’s main job is to provide a good night's rest, and that is where the experience fell short. The bed in our room gave us one of the worst nights' sleep we've ever had. It wasn't worn out or sagging, but it was just fundamentally, incredibly uncomfortable. It lacked any sort of comfort layer or cushion, making it feel stiff and unforgiving. Both my partner and I tossed and turned all night and woke up completely exhausted with aching backs. It breaks my heart to leave a mixed review when the front-line team works so hard to create such a great environment. However, a quality mattress is essential for a good stay. I really hope management considers adding mattress toppers or upgrading the bedding to match the 5-star service their staff is providing.

Although we loved the staff, they were super sweet and tried to help in anyway they could, unfortunately our room was dusty, was missing the TV remote and was never cleaned by the cleaning service while we were there (we did not have the do not disturb sign up or any reason why is shouldn’t be cleaned). We asked for it to be cleaned but were told the cleaning service was gone for the day unfortunately. They did replenish whatever we needed however and felt bad. We did like the location (near the Capital and FSU), and all the perks of being a Marriot member. We will try it again, because regardless of these things, we did like the vibe and the staff a lot. They made up for what had gone wrong with perks, even without asking so we appreciated that. We were also told they are renovating soon/which would be amazing in our opinion.

Location and staff were very nice Room was not clean, facilities seemed and looked worn, dated and dirty. Floors ( carpet ) were dirty and had leftover items from previous guests( dirty rag and some kind of cookie) Shower in bathroom was in bad shape with black hairs covering the drain. Toilet seat was worn and discolored and stained. Smell of marijuana permeated throughout hallway. Noise from outside traffic and a/c was loud and disruptive. Room was not serviced except for new towels. Bed was not made. Not the standard for an Autograph Collection Marriott Hotel. Definitely not worth $750 night.

Our room was fine besides the people next to us banging on our door and the kids above us jumping up and down at midnight. The hotel tried to charge my card multiple times for different amounts starting at $200. Luckily my card was locked. The food at Shulas was not that great either for the price. I’d rather have door dashed something. The shower wouldn’t get hot unless the water pressure was down.

The bathroom was extremely small and felt poorly designed, with no proper walls, sliding doors for the shower/toilet area—this completely lacked privacy and made it uncomfortable, especially when sharing the room. Additionally, it appeared dirty upon arrival, with visible grime that wasn’t addressed. Housekeeping was another major disappointment. Despite requesting service, my room was not cleaned during my stay, leaving it in the same (or worse) condition over multiple days. This significantly impacted my comfort and overall impression of the property. I understand things can go wrong, but these basic issues made the stay feel unacceptable for the price and expectations. I would not recommend this hotel in its current state and hope management takes steps to improve maintenance, privacy in bathrooms, and reliable housekeeping.

The quality of our room was worse than any Best Western but charging so much more. The heater spewed out a burning smell that went away after an hour but the smell lingered. The lighting was horrible such that you could not see much of anything let alone apply makeup. The only window was so fogged up and filthy between panes that everthing outside looked dim and drab. They still use wall to wall carpet, which is so dated and unhealthy. The bathroom, however, was the worse. Their idea of upgrading this tiny space was to paint over the bathroom tiles in black, pop in a plastic, black drop ceiling that never dried, and certainly harbored mold, only it was too dark to identify. The shower door was badly installed and did'nt slide correctly, there was no room at the sink to store even a few toiletries, the cheap floor board was detaching from the wall at the bathroom door, and on and on. It is shameful (and false advertising) to call this place a "luxury" boutique.

I could not recommend this hotel enough. I’m a college student with not a whole lot of money, but I wanted to come visit my partner at FSU. I wanted something close by that I could walk to campus from since I came on the bus, but I also did not want something too expensive. This hotel gives you the best bang for your buck. I paid $240 TOTAL, and it was better than the 300+ hotels in the area. Obviously this is not a value resort, but all of the cheap hotels in the area are apparently unclean and very unsafe. This hotel costed just a little bit more, but was nicer than most of the very expensive hotels I’ve stayed in. The room was VERY clean, and the staff was so friendly. RJ helped check us in and let us know about the historic aspects of the hotel, as well as gave us a $25 dining voucher. We received free popcorn in the lobby, and free Fiji water in the room. They are very service oriented, and train staff well. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. I was also very excited to see that room service was available. This is a rarity in the hotel industry in recent years since it is usually costly. Having this scarce amenity was such a pleasant surprise. The only downside I can think of is that they do not have a pool, but this is a very mundane issue and I would still choose to stay here every time. I will say though, do not walk on these surrounding streets, it’s better to drive/uber. I felt unsafe walking. The hotel is very safe, the surrounding streets not so much.

Another employee mentioned she had been gone for two days. They switched our room and never cleaned it on first days stay. They charged $50 daily for car valet. Because of the the room switch they charged us twice for incidentals at $300 a pop because they believed we had two rooms. Management needs to do better at being able to manage employees to run a tight ship and provide a quality stay.

This is not only a severe health risk but also a violation of basic safety expectations and building standards. Water temperature regulators are required under various state and local plumbing codes to prevent scalding and ensure guest safety. Furthermore, under Florida law and general premises liability principles, hotel operators have a legal duty to maintain safe and habitable conditions for their guests. This situation is unacceptable and poses a clear liability. Given the physical harm and the significant impact on my stay, I am requesting full compensation in the form of a complimentary stay. I also urge immediate inspection and repair of the issue to prevent further risk to guests.

The property was good for the most part. Check-in was a breeze and they even offer cookies starting at 3 PM!! The cookies are delicious! The green smoothie at the hotel Starbucks cafe is also phenomenal. The staff was great as well. From, the Starbucks Café staff, to the valet, to the front desk. Everyone was great! I will say it is an older hotel that seems to have been kept up very well. but there are a few things that I have qualms with within the room itself. The first being the shower. It had a rain shower-head that could not be adjusted, which was very annoying, but not the worst thing in the world. The bad part, however, was the smell of the bathroom itself, which came from the shower drain. It smelt as if the drain had not been cleaned for some time and it only amplified the bad smell when you took a hot shower. Moreover, there was a small cushion chair in my queen room that could use a steam clean. And it had multiple stains on it that made me uncomfortable to even consider sitting on it. Lastly, the towels can also be cleaned a bit better as to ensure that all previous user hair is fully removed. Outside of these things, it was a fairly good experience! The rooftop bar is very nice and a great place to work during the day and so is the Cafe. I’d also note that the rooms came with a steamer instead of an iron. but when I call the front desk and ask for one, they were amazing in quickly accommodating me and bringing an iron and a ironing table directly to my door.

We stayed in a room facing Monroe St (room 205). I couldn't sleep at night because of the street noise when vehicles traveled north and south along the corridor. It felt as if we were sleeping outside. It appears that the window and/or AC opening for the air conditioning unit need to be better insulated. Also, the bathroom is outdated, and the faucet is not centered with the sink, causing water to go everywhere when using the sink. The shower area is very dark with a mirror inside- it needs to be updated. Another concern is the glass panel wall, which divides the bathroom from the bedroom, giving no privacy when using the bathroom. I would consider reconfiguring the bathroom layout to provide a more pleasant experience for all future guests.

It was a nice hotel. The staff was excellent. I guess we shared the hotel with a wedding party. They were super loud late in to the night. I highly recommend getting a room on the back side of the hotel away from the street. The road noise was quite substantial.

The Good: - The staff was friendly and welcoming, making check-in smooth and easy. - Our suite was larger than expected, offering a quiet, comfortable space with a sofa, TV, and bar. - The king-size bed was comfy, though it slanted a bit towards the center. - Valet service was quick and efficient, but they have a $36 per night fee (plus tips) The Not-So-Good: - The bathroom had a slide door that didn’t seal properly, which affected privacy. The lack of sound and light privacy from the bathroom, which was right next to the sofa and bed, was a bit bothersome. - The rooftop lounge, which was one of the reasons we chose the hotel, was a bit of a letdown. The menu was limited, and there was no table service. We had to get up to order food and drinks from the bar each time. - Shula’s restaurant didn’t meet our expectations based on poor reviews from friends, so we opted for an amazing meal at Il Lusso, a fantastic Italian restaurant nearby. All in all, The Duval Hotel is a solid option for a stay in Tallahassee, but there are a few areas that could be improved for a more complete experience. Would stay again.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. The room and hotel were very clean and upon check in you’re greeted with an array of fresh baked cookies that permeate the front desk. We were a little bit surprise to find a queen bed in our room, but in fairness it was comfortable, but for the price we expected a king. The only draw back was the bathroom, all though modern with sliding frosted glass panels for walls it provide little privacy even for a couple. Our room was probably better suited for a single traveler. Room 606. The hotel has an attached Shula steak house, which was convenient. That said, it was very expensive and nothing special, you get a better meal at the Texas road house, the service was excellent however. It just felt like the food quality was lacking for the price. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and will recommend it.

Everything was great, but the images in the listing at Hotels.com were inaccurate. The images at hotels.com showed pics that were for the diamond suite and that was a terrible misrepresentation. They do not offer suites on their website so when hotels.com offers a suite on their website, it is not truly a suite.

To start, the staff at Hotel Duval are fabulous! Very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is WAY overpriced for what it is. Our first room smelled horrendous. It smelled as if the carpet had been wet and mildew had sunk in. We moved rooms and the next room was better but still had an odor. The knob on the bathroom sink continually fell off and the sink didn’t drain well.

Staff was very nice and property and room were clean. Our room had an odor that we couldn’t determine and upon our last day realized the carpet was wet in an area. Reported to front desk upon checkout. Probably a one off as we have stayed here before. Not enough places in shower for washcloths, soaps, razors, etc. Nicer hotel for the area

The property was old but charming. My room when I walked in had a terrible odor. That said, as beautiful as the room was the odor was pungent. Not mold but pungent. The staff offered air freshener to mask the odor. I felt it was causing a subtle allergic reaction but my flight was early and no other room was available.

The location of the hotel was great for what we wanted to do in the area. The staff and service were all excellent. The hotel itself was nice and the rooftop lounge and patio were excellent. Our room, however, had issues. It was damp and mildew smelling and when you walked into the room the carpet felt damp. The room was also noisy when we were trying to get some sleep, with sirens going off from the fire station nearby periodically during the night.

Small touches and treats that add lots of value to the guest experience. Parking is difficult if you don’t valet. Air conditioners are outdated and leaves a musky smell in the rooms. We had to switch to a different room that didn’t smell so bad, and the staff was very accommodating. If it wasn’t for the odor, it would definitely be 5 stars for the costs.
