    If that was the only room I saw in that hotel I would never have though of going back. On the last night I was supposed to stay there after complaining several times the manager put me in a nicer bigger room. It changed my whole perspective of the place. I also have very high regards for the manager who was kind and accommodative. They gave me a $75 room credit. Overall the first two night were dreadful and I felt like I had to endure but the last night was okay.

    This was a great hotel to stay in. Lovely comfortable bed, excellent service from all staff, and a great location. The bathroom was awful. Really needs updating and the bath needs to be ripped out as part of it is buried in the wall so there is no edge which made it different to get out of the bath.

    The biggest issue was the Wi-Fi. The internet connection in the suite was extremely unreliable and often unusable, which created significant problems because I was working remotely during my stay. On multiple occasions I had to leave my room and work from the hotel lobby just to get a stable connection. Housekeeping was another major concern. Despite staying for five days, our room was never properly serviced. We did not receive the level of cleaning and housekeeping support that should be expected during a multi-night stay, especially in a suite category. The location of the hotel is excellent, and the staff I interacted with were polite, but the combination of poor Wi-Fi and the lack of room cleaning significantly impacted the overall experience. For a hotel at this price point, I expected much better operational standards and guest service. I would not choose to stay in the Diplomat Suite again unless these issues were addressed.

    The hotel is beautiful. It smells amazing. Greeters are super friendly and helpful. Front desk is very helpful. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurant was okay. Food was good, but I expected a bit more than what we received. Meaning food was good, but a bit bland. Server was very very nice. I absolutely would stay again, and recommend to others.

    only location e hotel is very old and poorly maintained. The rooms are worn out and in need of renovation. The bathroom was a disaster — the shower head barely worked, and we practically had to use our water bottle to rinse ourselves. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

    My best friend and I just checked out this morning, and we were sad to leave! The restaurant was delicious for brunch yesterday and overall the hotel was very nice. The water pressure was good, beds and pillows comfy, and temperature control was also very nice. We will definitely be returning in the future. Shoutout to staff member Sabrina for literally being the best ever and helping me with a credit card issue I was having — she is a gem and immensely helpful!!!!!

    Curtain in the hotel was stained and utterly nasty. Fridge "freezer" had so much ice that the door wouldn't shut properly and it would never defrost/melt. Shower handle kept falling off. These are things you expect in a cheap roadside motel, not a D.C. hotel with a "famous" bar in a great location.

    Good experience overall, as usual, but we were disappointed with the bar closing so early every night. Who closes a bar at 9:30p or 10p even? Regardless, the housekeeping service was top notch, and the breakfast at the restaurant was surpringly worth the price. For a good hotel in DC, the Hamilton is a great value for the money!

    I did not enjoy this hotel, despite the staff being friendly. During the day, the hotel has natural light and it feels much better, but unfortunately I checked in at night. It felt dark and the rooms are SMALL and OLD. The beds are full size, not queen. I checked out the next day. I would not stay here again.

    The Hamilton is an old hotel in beautiful condition. The attached restaurant/bar served delicious food with the option of dining outdoors. Friendly staff, very busy area but quiet for sleeping. Nice park across the street. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

    The property was amazing. Only mistake I made is with the breakfast. I thought Expedia gave me a DAILY credit of $20 towards my breakfast and was amazed to see it was a one time credit of $20. Not sure how a one time credit is a good incentive to eat but ok. Other than that it was perfect.

    Reasonable hotel in a great location but the room was dated and not cleaned very well. They did not automatically replace coffee, cups or toilet rolls ( had to ask). Room lighting was also poor and the old air conditioning unit was noisy. It was OK for a few days sightseeing.

    We loved our stay at The Hamilton Hotel in D.C. it was a block and a half from the metro which made transport from and to the airport so convenient. The location also allowed us to walk all the wonderful sights of D.C. The hotel was clean, the hotel staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, and we loved the restaurant located in the hotel where we would go after a long day and enjoy a bottle of wine! We will definitely stay here again!

    The price was not worthy overall. Staff are friendly but the hotel was not refurbished and facilities were old and not maintained. Toilets were making noise each time flushing it, and the bath was not powerful enough. We were living in a connected room and we could hear neighbors talking very clearly. Good location though. Not recommended if you want a peaceful and quiet place to stay.

    I went to 3 floors before finding an ice machine that worked. Horrible parking but luckily we had a spot right in front of the hotel. Small rooms. No refrigerator for personal use . But over all, comfy, fancy-like, perfect area. Nice front desk staff. Clean room. Awesome housekeeping staff.

    Was told I would only have to pay about $70 when I got to the property when I booked to be charged $100 per room for a deposit and then got charged a bunch of hidden after fees and taxes after the fact from my deposit. The hotel itself was nice but was disappointed with the unknown knowledge of a deposit and not getting a full refund because of “Facility fees, Community Impact fee, and taxes on both.”

    Its an old hotel thats not needs a renovation badly. Town rack fell, knobb came of bathroom door and the bathtub didnt drain properly. Carpet coming up in the corners of the room an looks worn. Windows shades are filthy, bathroom vanity the wood is warn badly. Will never stay here again. The price is way to high per night to stay here. Its location is perfect though, and lobby looked nice. But I will never stay there again.

    First of all, it’s our first family trip to DC, and we don’t really know the hotel doesn’t offer on site parking until we got there for check in. So we had the valet parking for the staying days and tipped the driver after checked out. Basically it’s $200 extra. Well, we do understand the hotel locates in the city, so it’s kind of fair. Secondly, the carpets in the room is pretty old and dirty, it has stains that could be seen. So I let my kids have their shoes on most of the time. The room keeper did the great job, at least the towels were clean. If the boss can upgrade the carpets and more, I would like to give another chance to stay here when we visit DC again. Thanks!

    Water pressure in the shower was lack luster with a dribble and the ice machine on both 14 and 9th floor did not work. Being on the 14th floor and having to check every level until we found one working was disappointing. A bit pricy on the daily car parking. Overall we loved the place and the location and would recommend it to others. I’m glad we chose to stay here.

The staff were super friendly and very helpful and we had breakfast on the terrace. It was a beautiful day and the service was great and the food was delicious.     The hotel is very beautiful and in a very convenient location. I upgraded to a studio king, and to be honest I did not like it. The part view room was so much better. The studio king room had one window that pointed to some dark alley. I paid more for it, but in my opinion, it was a downgrade.

    Location was great, subway was just a block or 2 away. Staff was great. 20 minute walk to a few of the museums. As for the room, there were 2 red jellybeans on the floor by the beds. Even after 1 night and housekeeping came, they were still there. Sink had chips/crack, visible stains on carpet. Bathroom was clean, but those details took away the quality that was expected. Pillows were too big or bulky, not comfortable to sleep on.

    The food was fine, the bar was a bit overpriced (I would tip more if they weren’t charging nearly $20 a shot). The staff were stellar. At every turn, they helped me as quickly as possible and I felt their dedication to giving me the best service and stay possible. My room was very comfortable, the AC powerful, though the sound from adjoining rooms carried over a little (other ACs turning on and off, doors slamming, hot water through pipes), though this is standard in most hotels.

    Overall, the hotel is very nice. Beautiful interior and staff was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful. I upgraded to an Alexander room last minute and was disappointed to find that the carpet and furniture in the room was riddled with stains. It was disgusting and for the price being charged for a suite that should be a non issue.

    Located just a few blocks from the White House, the location is perfect. Room was very nice with a great view of the park, rates were good, the valet parking is a little expensive but very convenient and it's expected at the location. The restaurant is good and with the 15% off for hotel guests makes it a little less overpriced. Would definitely recommend this hotel, a lot of pros and not many cons.

    This hotel was really a mixed bag. I was suppose to get some perks with Expedia such as a food and beverage credit and room upgrade. They did not mention any of that when I checked in and I had to inquire. They confirmed the food credit was available, but would not give me an upgraded room. I believe it was because we already settled into our room before inquiring about the upgrade. I will never let the Expedia 'perks' sway me to book a particular hotel again. However, I was able to check in early which was so nice after a long day of traveling. The room was clean, but the window was facing a dark wall. I could not see anything which was a real disappointment. And did not get the upgraded room and in fact, I probably got the absolute worst room in the entire building. I don't think I will stay at this hotel again. The location was in a decent area, but the restaurant attached was awful and we had to walk to find food. I think this hotel is okay.

    After a long day, I returned to the hotel hoping to take a warm shower and rest for the next day. Unfortunately, my bathroom had no hot water at all, even after trying for more than 30 minutes, and the shower pressure was weaker than a car windshield washer. The maintenance staff sent by the front desk appeared unfamiliar with the issue and unable to resolve it. Instead of fixing the problem, the bathroom was left in worse condition — the entire floor was covered with dirty shoe water, and my personal bath towels were used to wipe hands and tools without permission. The staff then left the room without explanation or resolution. By this time it was already past 11 PM, and I had to go back downstairs to explain the situation again. The front desk seemed reluctant to believe the issue and showed little initiative to come upstairs and verify it themselves. Only after considerable discussion was I finally moved to another room. After 2–3 hours of unnecessary stress and exhaustion late at night, I was finally able to end the day. Choosing Hamilton Hotel turned out to be a deeply disappointing and exhausting experience, and unfortunately, I would not stay here again.

    The room and amenities in the room were old. The mirror has dirty spots on it. The shower switch was very tight and hard to twist. The shower was also very outdated. The hairdryer was very old and looked very used. Although the bedsheets were very clean and neat. The valet workers have no responsibility at all. Me and my family waited in the hotel lobby for thirty minutes, before we had to ask if our car has arrived. Our car was already parked outside around the corner of the hotel, but they did not let us know the car had already been parked outside. The valet workers already seen us waiting in the lobby for thirty minutes, but chose to not let us know. We only found out our car had already been outside after we directly asked them if the car was ready. We were going to tip, but after they deliberately decided to not tell us even though they saw we were waiting in the lobby as well as outside the hotel, we feel they did not deserve the tip.

    The overnight stay in DC at the Hamilton was typically fine for us except the city had worked on a water main nearby supposedly from 10pm to 6am. The front desk informed us that the water would be off and had set out notice pamphlets. There was no water still at 7:30 in the morning as we were getting ready to leave. Definitely an inconvenience. A special shoutout for Kevin at the front desk who was calmly and methodically trying to deal with the guest complaint mayhem by himself.

    While the hotel was clean and secure, the staff very pleasant and helpful, I found the room to be a little tired and in need of an update, especially the carpeting.     The hotel looks really good in pictures but when you arrive, you realize that is not the case. The lobby area was ok. The check in process was quick and easy. However, the hotel is outdated and needs to be refurbished. The bathroom was gross, it had mold and the towels looked more gray than white. The plumbing system not the best. One of my family members used the bathroom and they needed to call the front desk to get it plunged. In addition, they apparently had a big party downstairs and there were so many people there that you couldn’t even go up or down the elevator. Let’s not even mention that these party people were smoking weed in the rooms and we had to smell it everywhere. If you are going to have a party like this then you should be more considerate of people with families. The one thing I can say was amazing was the kindness and helpfulness of the front desk staff. Other than that, I would not recommend this hotel until the rooms are updated. As for myself and my family, we will not be returning to the Hamilton Hotel.

    The hotel itself was very nice and in a good location. I stayed in New Year’s Eve, and the problem was there was a massive party in the ballroom. The people attending this party were stating in the hotel and were having parties in their rooms. They were loud and there was a smell of weed throughout the corridors all night. The people attending the party had no regard for any of the other guests and were being loud and obnoxious. The guests were going up and down the lifts meaning it took 15 minutes to get up to your room. I really did like the hotel, however, we should have been informed of this party and we would have stayed elsewhere. I understand it was New Year’s Eve and I’m all for celebration, but having to get up at 5:30 am in the morning meant I didn’t really get a good sleep.

    I spent a couple of days at the Hamilton with my family and what literally stood out was the kindness and the sensibility of the staff. James at the reception welcomed us warmly and provided us immediately with the room even though we were there way earlier. I have appreciated that type of kindness. Moreover, James specifically put himself on the front line for any specific request I had and his professionalism is what a great Hotel should always prioritize. The cleaning ladies on our floor have been very thoughtful and kind with us, always smiling! Last but not least, the staff at the Sophia restaurant, from the bar tender to the hostess, I have appreciated the professionalism and the service they provided every time. Thank to all of you for a great weekend, my family will definitely remember this experience on their way back to Italy!

    Unsafe. Seems like a hotel for drug users. Definitely not family friendly. We paid extra to stay in the Executive Suite - thinking this would be nicer and safer. Instead, the entire 7th floor absolutely reaked of marijuana. Multiple rooms seem to smoking marijuana in their rooms and even the hallway. The staff were friendly and nice. But, we just do not feel safe here and it is awful to have to pay so much money and put up with this awful smell all night. We will not stay here again.

    Front desk staff were rude and impatient. Our room was not cleaned when we returned one day, and hotel benefits (including restaurant credit) were never explained, we only found out after asking, and by then one night of credit was wasted. It was almost impossible to reach the front desk by phone. Even requesting a kettle required going downstairs, paying a deposit, and waiting a long time both to pick it up and return it. Check-in was very slow, and we frequently overheard staff arguing with guests. Highly not recommended.

    The room was not cleaned well. When I pulled the curtain down there was a black coating of dirt and dust. The support handle in the shower was peeling and there was some staining on the bathroom floor. Some staff was friendly but even they were not very helpful. I would also be careful about them overbilling. I was billed an additional day of parking after I checked out and was no longer their hotel. When I called to get it reversed and ask why I was charged after I was no longer a guest they they stated they reversed the charge the same day but couldnt explain why it happened. Two weeks later the charge was still there.

    Our stay was really nice, the location is amazing! We were supposed to have received a room upgrade through our benefits but had a view of a brick wall. The property is really nice, especially around the holidays (they had everything decorated so beautifully). We could not eat onsite at the hotel though, they did not have any solid options for vegans (which is fine, the location is close to so many great DC vegan restaurants). For us, our stay would have been 5 stars if they had a more inclusive dining experience for a variety of dietary restrictions. Otherwise everything was wonderful and we would highly recommend this hotel!

    We had tickets for a show at the Hamilton Live. For some reason, I thought that the hotel was in the same building as the concert venue, I didn't think to check the addresses so I'm writing this review to give a heads up for those that maybe booking a room for the same reason. We thought we would valet the car, freshen up and head down to the show on the elevator. Little did we know that we were going have to walk three city blocks to get there, which isn't a big deal as long as the weather is good, otherwise be prepared to get a Taxi/Uber. The lobby was grand and it felt like a venue rich with DC history. The room was a little on the small side but it was clean & quiet. I don't recall there being any type of breakfast option in the building, continental or otherwise. I brought my own cooler with ice & beverages. Be mindful of your bill after you check out, we were charged for a $12 bottle of water which we did not consume. I called the front desk and they removed it from my bill without any hassle. I would stay there again.

    - dirty floors and curtains - Dirty bathroom and smells like sewage (see photos) - walls are all covered with paper - No shampoo and was not refilled in all 4 days we stayed - Broken shower - No toilet paper holder - The towels looked off white used a lot and not new - No toiletries available (no shower cap ) - Overall very old and nasty place - Noise is heard in the room ( from the street and from the other surrounding rooms) - The beds are super uncomfortable.     Checkin was easy and quick (midnight arrival helped). Room was clean and spacious, bed comfortable, shower good. Only criticism is that the air cond unit was a bit noisy. We had a lovely view over the square. Washington is very walkable and we were able to access the Mall and museums as well as restaurants, cafes, dining and public transport if you prefer. We were very happy with our decision to stay at the Hamilton.

    the "in room dining" is a joke - they don't even offer coffee. not to mention the restaurant had a broken pizza oven they didn't seem interested in fixing the entire week nor communicate it's issue with the staff who just say "they're not making pizza today" with no explanation. also really cheap and crappy choices for toilet paper, towels, and bathrobes -- the toilet paper is so cheap it shreds when you pull it off the roll, the towels are soooo thin, and the bathrobes, not only thin but way too small in size. also the lobby and rooms have these bizarre smells that are akin to a disinfectant but sharper and not pleasant

    To make matters worse, the suite didn’t even have a basic amenity like an ice bucket. I had to go downstairs to request one, only to be given the runaround by the front desk.     We were initially booked into a a king bed room prior to our arrival, however when we arrived the room was incredibly small. I understand that the hotel is an older hotel but I did not feel comfortable in such a small room. I was sent an email to share my experience of the hotel check in process. There I expressed my displeasure and disappointment. Immediately I received a personal phone call from the front desk personnel (Sarah) and had a conversation with her. She without hesitation upgraded my room into a king bed suite. I couldn’t have been happier more comfortable! Excellent!!

    Location was perfect for sightseeing. There are 2 CVS stores and a liquor store on 14th St. We felt very safe in the area. Check in was a breeze. Only issue was our room cleaner kept replenishing our coffee pods with Decaf and there was no regular tea - in the scheme of things not a biggie. I would recommend this hotel.

    We stayed at one of the Alexander suits. The view is incredibly but they dont supply any water botlle the cist is $6.00, make sure you bring your water. If you want the housekeeper the clean you room you Jane to leave the room before 11:00 o'clock, because we put the sign DO NOT DISTURBED. at night and we removed by 11:00 am because we used to stay late at night and that did not clean or supply o fix the bed if you leave your rooom after 11:00am

    I recently stayed at the Hamilton Hotel in DC. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were courteous, but the room itself was disappointing. The carpet looked as though it had never been cleaned absolutely filthy, as if a herd of cows had trampled through it. I’ve stayed in many hotels, and I’ve never seen carpet in such poor condition. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Since my family likes to sleep in, we left the room late, but when we returned later that night, it still hadn’t been serviced. After calling the front desk, staff eventually came to replace the towels and make the bed, but no one bothered to vacuum or address the dirty rug. We were on the fifth floor, and the only window looked out to a brick wall in an alleyway, which made the room feel dark and closed off. On the bright side, the hallway’s woodwork was beautiful you can tell there was once great craftsmanship here. This hotel has potential, but cleanliness and attention to detail need serious improvement.

    - When I arrived in the room, the toilet did not work so I had to call for service near immediately which was a foreboding start (although to the credit of the staff it was fixed nearly immediately). - I attempted to watch television upon my arrival but the TV in my room was damaged slightly with faded, splotchy colors at random locations all over the screen. -There was a small fridges present in my room stuffed with paid items, which is common in plenty of hotels. In the case of this room, this fridge (which I never had any intention of interacting with) had three extremely bright lights that could not be turned off which illuminated the entire room and made it difficult to sleep. - Despite the slip in my room touting gigabit speed internet, my internet was so unbelievably slow that I was completely unable to use it beyond accessing my email. Unless those emails had pictures I needed to see or PDFs I needed to download, that was too much.

    We love the hotel staff, except for the gentleman that checked us in was not very nice, but everybody else was great. After that our problem was is that the shower the water went everywhere. Otherwise we had a great day.

    We traveled with a large commuter van, which would not fit in any of the garages, but the bellman went beyond his scope and found a private and protected parking lot nearby where we could park it for 2 nights. Staff was wonderful, the room was very comfortable, and the food was delicious.

    It was competent. No frills. Great view of Hamilton Park which was very nice. In house restaurant wasn’t my favorite. It had a very pronounced cleaning smell and the menu wasn’t great. Vibe was lackluster but there is outside seating. Bar had odd sports match on.The front lobby had quite a fragrance too. That was not the case in the rooms.

    I stayed at the Hamilton Hotel from 9/19-9/21. My hotel is room is so dirty. There are stains all over the carpet, rusted shower parts, limescale or something on the shower head that caused a rash. The shower won’t drain. I would like refund or credit for my stay.

    The Hamilton is a beautiful hotel and in excellent condition considering it’s 100 years old. We stayed in the Diplomat Suite which was nicely appointed. I was a little thrown that the only parking available was valet, but that may just be a DC thing. We had an excellent bellman help us unload our bags from the car and take them up to the room. My only gripe about the service was that nobody was at the front desk later in the evening (after 9?) when we called down to let them know we found an emptied box of candy on the mini bar (and wanted to make sure we weren’t charged for it). So I went down to the lobby and nobody was at the front desk - they came after I stood there for a minute or two, looking around. We also didn’t appreciate that the TV remote in the room didn’t function the way it was explained in instructions on the TV. We basically couldn’t get it to work. But after my previous experience with the front desk I wasn’t about to try them again.

    Room 218, the Air Conditioner did not work. We had to move rooms around midnight to room 231 which was basically a much bigger space. But it had AC. Appreciate the maintenance guy admitting the AC Unit had to be replaced. Would apparently have taken 90 minutes to do. I feel the hotel needs to br ahead of such issues!

    I liked the history of the property. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed having a bar and dining on-site. The hotel is conveniently located near my office, only a 10-minute walk away, and there are plenty of options for getting around.

    Apparently buying insurance in case of emergencies is pointless. I booked my trip through hotels.com app & I had to put my dog down literally right before the trip, so we couldn’t go. Hotels app help said they tried many times & couldn’t even contact the property manager. It took over a week for a response. Then they declined my request for a refund. Terrible customer service & experience. If this is how you manage a property, I’d hate to actually stay there. I will not be using this hotel at all in the future.
