The room was dingy and unkept. The headboard of the bed was peeling all over, there were stains all over the carpet and the lamp shade was stained with yellow and mold. The bathroom shower valve was broken, among things. Although the lobby was nice and the staff were very nice and helpful. Would not stay here again.

Good location, good layout, easy to find everything needed, easy access. Building work upstairs.

Great location and ambience. Special thanks to the breakfast manager!
- 5/5
The location is great with quick access to great restaurants and shops. The room was spacious, clean, and well decorated.
- 4.5/5
The staff was amazing super friendly and the location was perfect. The rooms could have been a little cleaner and the tvs had limited channels. Most places you can stream your Netflix or something, but not here.
- 5/5
Perfect location for a trip to DC. Everything is walkable, and the metro is close by, too. Service was awesome. Outstanding breakfast, great coffee, clean and comfortable rooms. Very nice workout room.
- 5/5
Fantastic location. Great and helpful staff, especially Z at the bar. We loved our stay!
- 2/5
Floor was very stained had to wear shoes the entire time, no amenities, paid for valet but vehicle stayed out front of hotel all 3 days, hair in the bath tub, no ac NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!! Should have stayed at a motel 6!!!!!!!

Hotel location is good. Metro station close by. The hotel was quiet and the staff friendly and responsive. The downside is their expensive restaurant. Find somewhere nearby for breakfast unless you want to pay almost $40 for coffee, toast and oatmeal. Aside from that, it's a nice place to stay.
- 5/5
Kitty at the front reception desk was very helpful and very engaging. I appreciated her assistance.
- 4.5/5
Highly convenient to Georgetown University and very calming and sophisticated in the main floor area. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, could use a little refresh and I would suggest some towel racks and/or more than one hook. Also more than one wastebasket with lid be nice. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the coffee service on the main floor was great. Please see above comment.

The staff at the front desk was very friendly. I personally didn't have breakfast but my sister said it was quite good. Very close to Georgetown neighborhood (10 min walk), and a 10 min car ride to the National Mall. The bathroom in our room was quite small. We also had an issue where our keys would not work, but they sent engineering out quickly to fix it. Other than that it was an enjoyable stay!

Second stay here. It is a beautiful smaller hotel. The staff is amazing and go out of their way to help. I have had a fantastic experience both times and will absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
The Melrose is the perfect location! Easy to get to museums and dinners! We loved the historic aspects and highly recommend The Melrose!
- 4/5
The staff is so incredibly personal warm and good at their job. Worth staying at this hotel just for that. (This is my second stay). Everything is clean and elegant. But pillows where lumpy not comfortable I thought. Also, I prefer a real comforter with a comforter cover and not a sheet and then the ”comforter” on me as I sleep.
- 3/5
Property needs a serious refresh. Stayed multiple times but last year or so it seems to be struggling. Staff is wonderful but rooms need a serious update. Food and Bev overpriced and mandatory gratuity is interesting. $27 for a bourbon and Coke? Parking is $80 + $15 tax and $30 restoration charge is also a hidden fee. Hope they get things cleaned up soon. Great location and staff but overpriced for the product.
- 5/5
Great location, amazing staff. Has issues with the AC and some bathroom fixtures but otherwise great place to stay
- 5/5

- 5/5
Room and facilities were great but what made trip memorable and special was attentiveness and professionalism of staff, especially Beth and Claire at front desk.
- 5/5
This is our go to hotel when we are visiting our son at college. It’s a convenient walk to campus. The morning coffee makes my day!
- 5/5
Lovely stay at the Melrose! The check-in team was so kind and friendly and they upgraded us to a beautiful studio. Room was very quiet and nice.
- 5/5
The staff is what won me over. I arrived 1:30 pm the staff was awesome. The morning staff as well. Thank you.
- 5/5
Great Hotel for the price and amazing location
- 5/5
The gym was excellent and the staff were prompt and very accomodating and thoughtful
- 5/5
Lovely hotel with a trendy lobby and bar area. Great value and comfortable stay in a historic building. Some furnishings showed signs of wear, but it was not excessive and did not detract from the experience.
- 2/5
The person checking me in (that claimed to be the manager) was unpolite to the point of being rude. I have stayed in this hotel more than 10 times and had good experience, but after this one I will not be staying in this hotel anymore.
- 5/5
Great location, safe. Nice room and common areas. Housekeeping did a great job every day.
- 5/5
Great location. Clean rooms and very easy check in
- 5/5
Very nicely place located by George Town in walking distance of White House also
- 3/5
Good location.
- 4/5
The location is great - safe, convenient especially if you’re visiting George Washington University! Our room was right beside the elevator so we were woken up by people a few times during the night/early morning, but the room itself was spacious and clean. The toilet paper holder kept falling off the wall and the sheets were well-worn but otherwise the room was maintained well. The people at check-in and the door were always very friendly and check-in itself was a breeze.
- 5/5
Excellent location to go-to spots in Georgetown so I was able to walk where I wanted to go. Room was very clean and breakfast excellent.

The stuffs are very friendly and helpful. The gym is great.
- 5/5
Everything was fine, staff was very accomadating.
- 2/5
Our room on the first floor was insanely loud all night long from outside noise and above us, and the outlet on the nightstand completely fried my iPhone and I had to replace my entire phone. We have stayed here a bunch of times and were extremely disappointed this time.
- 5/5
Very helpful and friendly front desk, spacious and wonderful room, great location with a Trader Joe’s right across the street!
- 5/5
Architecturally beautiful hotel. I wish I knew about the cost of valet parking before leaving my car. $94 was a surprise.
- 5/5
Our room was lovely and very spacious, check in was very easy, and we had a great time!
- 4/5
Great location for the purpose of our visit. The front desk personnel were very friendly and welcoming at check-in. The room itself was dark, the furniture being black, and dark blue wallpaper. It was difficult to see in the closet as the lighting in that corner was poor. The bed was comfortable and snuggly. There is a nice little market just next door to purchase a quick breakfast or afternoon/bedtime snacks. The Melrose is a nice place to stay.

- 5/5
Good location. Super friendly bar tender. As advertised
- 5/5
Great location to many restaurants and tourist attractions. Beautiful room and friendly staff
- 5/5
We had a great 4 day stay here. The room was large, the bed comfortable, and there were 2 full size closets. The shower room looked like it may have had water damage but it was clean. Everyone was very nice and welcoming. It was in a great location. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Good location, close to many fun places, clean, polite staff
- 5/5
Great all around, but could use a small market for snacks and beverages on site
- 5/5
The room was clean and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, there was a constant noise from what seemed like a water pump or something and the tap water is absolutely awful and there are no vending options within the hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice stay and close to the tourist spots in DC. The interior is very nicely laid out and has a classic vibe.
- 4/5
Location was great!
- 5/5
Stayed with family and dog. It’s a beautiful hotel. The lobby has an amazing scent. Room was spacious and staff polite and helpful.
- 4/5
Beautiful Hotel in Georgetown, close to many restaurants and cafes, about a 25 min walk to Lincoln Memorial. The staff was very sweet and welcoming, the rooms are a little dated, but clean, and the bed was very comfortable and the sheets were clean and crisp white. The only downside is that the walls seem to be thin and you can kind of hear the noises coming from the hallway and the rooms close to yours.
- 4/5
Service good. Coffee was not to my taste, harsh. could not drink it.
- 4/5
Great location. Comfortable beds.
- 4/5
The guest room is looking a bit worn around the edges. It's not shabby or run down but definitely starting to show signs of wear. Comfortable bed, pretty quiet. Convenient neighborhood, especially to the Blue, Silver and Orange lines on the Metro. Walkable to the National Mall or Dupont Circle or beyond.
- 3/5
A couple of things to note: the AC wasn’t working properly, and the room stayed in the 70s even when adjusted. We arrived late and couldn’t get assistance, so we had to open the window to cool it down. Also, valet parking is offered without clearly stating the cost upfront (around $80), and there’s an additional daily historical fee that isn’t very transparent until checkout. Aside from that, everything else was smooth and comfortable.
- 3/5
The fresh fruited water and evening cider was good. The coffee was ok. A complimentary lite breakfast would have been nice. For a 4 star, it could have been better

This was a fabulous hotel to stay in from the courteous staff to the location to the metro and walking distance to so many locations i would definitely stay here again. Great little market just a few steps away with coffee, breakfast and deli sandwiches. A Trader Joes around the corner for your snacks.
- 3/5
Breakfast was delicious and expensive. Room bed was not the most comfortable- they could really invest in new pillows.
- 5/5
Clean room nice staff safe area
- 3/5
Hotel was nice. The staff there were friendly. Something was going on with the air not positive if it was broken or they don’t have central air due to different statements from team members but the room was unbearably hot.
- 3/5
The hotel was nice but it did not have A/C functioning so our room was hot and muggy. We noticed some people were getting fans for the rooms. Probably need to assure that A/C is working bc of the fluctuating DC weather in March and April. Thanks
- 4/5
Great location, great staff and conditions. WiFi dipped out for a day, and a/c didn’t seem to be working.
- 5/5
The Melrose always does an outstanding job! The staff is fantastic. The rooms are wonderful. The linens are soft. There really is nothing bad to say about the Melrose. It is a lovely hotel.
- 3/5
Location was very good, and the rooms were comfortable though very basic. The service was not very good, although after a night of some very loud noises through the vent system, upon checkout, the manager, there was very helpful and waved some of my charges.
- 4/5
Staff was great and very helpful.
- 3/5
The room was very hot. I asked several times to regulate it for me. The people at the front desk were all lovely but nobody ever fixed the temperature of the room. It was also annoying to have to go to the front desk for ice. Location and staff great. Hotel rooms a bit dated.
- 5/5
Bathroom could use a makeup miror and towl hooks near the sink
- 2/5
The AC did not work since day one. We stayed for four days amd it never worked. The comunication was zero. I had to call the front desk amd the amsewr on the secind daybwas open the windows. On the last day we still did not have AC and the worst thing is that we never got updates or anything. It was all on your own. And the hotel is jot cheap
- 2/5
We checked in late on Friday, around 11pm. When we got to our room it was very hot. We lowered the thermostat and went to sleep. Middle of night I woke up and it was hotter than when we went to sleep. Again lowered the temperature. Woke up in the morning and confirmed that hot air was just blowing out of the vents despite the temp being set to 60. Told the front desk who said they would send someone up when my family was all awake and meanwhile said to turn it off, which I'd done. I asked "then what" thinking she had a recommendation to try and she snottily asked if she should send the tech up now while my family was sleeping. My husband told the front desk on his way out to send someone up. When we returned to the room it was still 80 degrees. We again asked and I was told a tech would come up and that my husband never let them know he had left. Hours later we were told that there were issues throughout the building and brought a fan and window cracked. We stayed out second night. My husband was also told we had a $30 food credit, when I asked about it the following morning, I was told that wasn't true. On check out the manager confirmed we did have a credit. She credited us a $70 fee we had paid and apologized profusely. Upon check out she was also telling guests that the wifi was down and there was no internet. Clear challenges in the building and with staff.

I love the Melrose Georgetown Hotel. The rooms are roomy and the lounge and lobby area are thoughtfully appointed. Mainly the front desk was so kind when I arrived early and provided a much needed early check-in, after a rough and sleepless flight. The front desk manager and his staff are outstanding!
- 4/5
My room was not maintained well. There was a party in my room prior to my stay that they had hung decorations from the ceiling and left the tape. The lampshade was falling off the lamp. The safe in the cabinet key popping open the cabinet door. The curtains were heavily stained. The bathroom had stuff all over the wall paper. The wallpaper had huge gouges in it. The furniture was all dinged up. The property is not handicap accessible. You have to go up stairs to get to the elevator, no ramp is provided and the mini elevator meant for wheelchairs is out of order. The hotel does not offer food throughout the day. There is nothing posted in the room about restaurant hours. Not worth the money and definitely not luxurious. I have stayed in nicer 3 star hotels.
- 5/5
Very clean room and very nice staff. Simone the bartender was sweet and lovely to speak with.
- 5/5
The Melrose staffers do an excellent job. I always look forward to staying here. The location is great, the rooms are comfortable, and the food & wine are delicious.
- 5/5
I have very comfortable time in Melrose hotel. Everything was excellent. Thank you.
- 5/5
Great hotel I enjoyed the stay.
- 5/5
Friendly staff its a beautiful hotel. I enjoyed the stay.
- 2/5
We were traveling with a 9 month old and this hotel did not accommodate us. We had to request a crib for our suite about 4/5 times before they delivered one. The small luggage elevator was broken and they had no ramp to access the first floor to main elevators. We had to carry our stroller up and down the stairs. Valet attendant had to help at check in due to absence of receptionist. He was wonderful!! The refrigerators have no freezer compartments for baby items or freezer packs. Unfortunately, it made our stay very difficult, so we checked out early and they would not refund our money. May be a nice place if you aren’t traveling with children. The valet is pricey but the attendants make it worth it. They were wonderful!!

The room king suite said that it included a complimentary bottle of 🍾 champagne for my wedding anniversary and the king suite supposed to include a kitchenette and microwave. None of these amenities were included eventhough the details said that we would. The first suite we styed in had mold in the front coat closet.which caused allergies to flare up. Although, kaddie recolated us to a different suite and gave us complimentary breakfast vouchers for the issue's. Thanks Kaddie And General Manager Mahmoud for your hospitality!

incredible staff, amazing amenities, overall great expirence
- 4/5
Staff and location were excellent
- 3/5
Could’ve been the snowstorm that made it seem understaffed, but the hotel felt like no one worked there. The bar was supposed to open at 5 or 5:30 - we stopped down there at 6 and no one was working. We tried to get to get breakfast in the AM and no one was there either. The couple of staff we interacted with were nice and helpful, but it was like a ghost town. We got a drink at a hotel 2 blocks away and it was very lively so I don’t think it was the city or the part of the city we were in. Room was fine except the temperature was pretty warm and it didn’t seem like there was a way to adjust it.
- 5/5
What stood out the most was the extremely wonderful staff from the moment you step up to the front desk.

Great location. Beautiful lobby and nice size room. Hand towel and bed sheet looked like droplets of fresh blood. Sides of toilet had urine build up. Constant drilling noise. I didnt complain due to price point just asked for fresh sheets. Overall room was nice and location was great. I did bring my own bath towel and always disinfect with my lysol wipes. The urine build up on the sides of the bowl i didnt touch. Overall I did like hotel.

Room is clean. Staff are professional and friendly.
- 2/5
Loud clanging noise at night and early am that sounded like construction/drillimg. We complained and were dismissed. Was charged $10 for the water even though i had a $30 beverage credit that I only used for one day. Very dirty and dated bathrooms and didn’t have hot water on day 2. Overpriced.
- 5/5
Great hotel. I always look forward to staying at the Melrose!

Love staying at the Melrose. Staff is great. They even gave me a room upgrade!
- 1/5
It lacked all the promised amenities.
- 5/5
Great room, great staff .
- 1/5
The front desk person was very rude and unhelpful; she had attitude in responding to any questions we had. She also said she does not care if we don't stay it that hotel again.
- 5/5
Room was spotless and the staff could not have been more helpful or pleasant .

-Got charged $106 for 1 night valet parking my car -Room was so hot, had to open a window to let the winter cold in

I had an absolutely amazing experience at this hotel! The service was outstanding, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, very pleasant staff, the room was clean and comfortable. The beds were nice and firm.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly staff, great location
- 2/5
Rooms are dirty, run down Staff is polite.
- 3/5
The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the front desk staff. They were pleasant and helpful. The hotel room was in need of simple maintenance. The headboards were flaking off pleather, the toilet paper holder kept falling off the wall and the shower needed visible repairs. I can appreciate a historic hotel but only if it is kept up. We ate breakfast in the hotel and even thought the food was good it came out completely cold. This was a mediocre hotel experience at best.
- 5/5

- 3/5
I would have loved to give this hotel a 5 star rating because the front desk staff were absolutely wonderful and so was one of the restaurant waiters Sofiane, but unfortunately the room was awful and I had a suite. The carpet was beyond disgusting, the wallpaper had stains and rips throughout the suite, the bathroom trim was painted over a hundred times and had stains everywhere as did the grout in the shower. The bed was very cheap and uncomfortable. The location was not in walking distance to anything and we heard gunshots one night from our room. There were other issues, but these were a few and I’m a very easy guest to please, so this says a lot. I would not stay there again although the lobby area was nice and as pictured

- 4/5
Hotel was very efficient although they had switched the HVAC system over to heat and I had no air conditioning in my room. They brought me a fan and I came home with a cold.
- 2/5
My debit card was charged for “incidentals” and I emailed the property to provide explanation but never heard back from anyone. The fridge wasn’t working so I couldn’t save any perishable foods I had, the coffeemaker just spilled all the water underneath it and didn’t brew any coffee, and the tv in the suite’s living room area wasn’t receiving any signal.
- 2/5
there were 2 elevators and only one elevator was working during my stay children were running around the hallway my room was next to the elevator and was more noisy
- 2/5
I didn’t use the offered breakfast.
- 3/5
There was no free breakfast. The AC not working. Too hot in the room. No parking available. The valet parking too expensive
- 4/5
Midnight i heard noisy from hallway. I wish to sleep but i can't.
- 5/5
Really exceptional hotel for the price. We had a beautiful and comfortable corner suite, with great views of leafy Georgetown/Washington DC. We didn't eat in the hotel or use the bar as there is a wide choice of excellent breakfast/brunch and dining options nearby. The free hot drinks in reception in the morning was a nice touch. Staff were polite and welcoming and the facilities well maintained.
- 4/5
Staff was very pleasant. Room was fine but the thermostat was not working properly. We had to open windows to let air in because it was so hot and the temp could not be turned down. Room showed its age- the bathroom doors did not close properly and the shower was a bit worn. Wasn't bad for the price and location. Paying $72/night for parking was an unpleasant surprise and had I not checked the parking app id have been charged for 2 nites instead of one. The hotel should validate for at least a portion of the parking expense for guests.
- 3/5
Hotel is old and not up to standards based on the rates charged. There is rust in the bathroom, the doors do not properly close, the elevators are very slow and/or broken, the front desk is unreachable via phone unless you physically go to them, the heat was on when the outside temperatures were in the high 60's, making the room uncomfortably hot. Overall, the experience was very poor and I would not recommend or return.
- 3/5
One working elevator is not sufficient for a busy hotel like this. I went for breakfast on saturday morning and there was not a server working even though it was during business hours. Instead a kitchen worker/ cook came out and helped. (He was great but clearly overwhelmed) The bar should stay open past 9 on weekends. There was a flyer for in room dining in my room but when I tried to order I was told the service was not offered.
- 5/5
Room is spotless
- 5/5
Overall, this is a lovely hotel. The restaurant serves excellent food. The room was nice and comfortable. The Lobby and bar were nice. While the accommodations were nice, it is an older facility so if you have arthiritis and/or other joint issues, be aware that the commodes are low to the ground. Also, if you are prone to keeping track of your expenses, please be sure to inquire about the amount of the deposit and the Preservation fee. We did have an issue about the way their charges showed up on our bank account. When we inquired about the charge, Kitty, could not explain it. However, when we mentioned it to Liz, she was very helpful and expeditious in keeping us informed. The charges did drop off as Liz surmised. We really like this hotel and will stay again. We hope that they have better price transparency especially on their website and with their third-party hotels as well as adequate training for their receptionists when explaining the aforementioned issue. I must add that our issue was not isolated. There were a couple of people ahead of us who experienced the exact same issue. We had a great time despite the government shutdown. Thank you to Liz Morel and Ninette, to Sofiane A. who delivered our breakfast and to Omar F. our dinner server and Simone D. our bartender! Each of you enhanced our stay! See you next time!

Excellent
- 5/5
Hotel was good. Location was excellent. Staff went above and beyond. They didn't stop spamming me with emails after checking out though so make sure you give them a throwaway email address.
- 2/5
Rooms were hot !!! Staff was friendly but air conditioning would have been nice.
- 4/5
Only cons were: --TV wasn't working when I arrived, but it was fixed within 12 hours of reporting --hot water supply seemed to struggle in the mornings --I couldn't get my room as cold as I wanted, but it was still pretty good
- 1/5
The Air Conditioning in the room is not working. The technician came in and said “Air Conditioning will not work because the temperature outside is dropping”. I don’t know how they both are linked. They opened up the windows and gave me a fan, which is just terrible. I don’t know which hotel do this, but it’s literally the worst way you can treat your guest with.
- 3/5
Staff were great but the rooms are really tired and need to be updated.
- 3/5
The workers were very nice and courteous. They made my stay more comfortable. Thank you staff!
- 5/5
Everything was great, Momo from the dinning room really helped us find something to do, due to the shut down. Omar for room services was great as well. We would love to come again!
- 5/5
The Melrose is my favorite place to stay in DC. It is located in close proximity to everything you want to see and do. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the bed and pillows are very comfortable, and the staff is exceptional. I don't bother staying anywhere else.
- 5/5
First time here and it was wonderful! Kiddy checked us in and was so nice! Great location, excellent house keeping and staff. Channel (hope i spelled her name right). Wonderful neighborhood to explore. Would stay here again. Thank you Melrose
- 4/5
Great hotel with good proximity to GW and Georgetown. Bar typically closes early, around 10, and breakfast menu seems pretty high. No ice machines on the floor or laundry machines. Stayed here multiple times and would highly recommend but it is missing a few conveniences.
- 3/5
No bars or racks for hand towels, light bulbs out in vanity, no response for room service initially then when delivered was informed that some menu items ordered werent available and ensured they wouldnt be on final bill but was charged a random additional amount on checkout bill that front deak staff coulsnt refund. Also received no napkin, salt/pepper or cutlery with room service delivery
- 4/5
The rooms were poorly updated by an amateur handyman.
- 5/5
Room was spacious for our 6 day stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great service, centrally located, breakfast was really good
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 3/5
Although the hotel lobby was nice, it needed some up keep as well as rooms, garbages were over flowing in lobby, 1st room they offered us had a terrible cesspool smell. Hotel staff quickly moved our room which was better. But overall cleanliness of hotel was lacking and worn. They have a restaurant on site, but never saw anyone dining in it. Parking is only valet from a different company at the hotel and was very expensive. They do not tell you this when you arrive. Overall stay was pleasant.
- 5/5
My husband loved his breakfast! Our room was beautiful and clean, the bathroom was great, excellent water pressure.
- 2/5
dirty room, floor stained. hall way on floor smelt terribly. barking dogs all night
- 4/5
Joseph and Keith were so helpful!
- 5/5
Centrally located
- 3/5
I've stayed here many times and have enjoyed the hotel's vibe, location, and value. However, my room was subpar during my most recent stsy -- there was a musty aroma, a constant noise that couldn't be identified, and a view of trash receptacles. I asked someone at the desk if they put customers who booked lower rates through third parties in rooms that have not been updated and was told no and that room selections are based on availability. Not sure what that means, but all rioms should be updated.
- 5/5
Guests nearby were allowing their door to slam with every use - ergggh. Hotel room doors have auto lock feature that requires one to turn the interior door handle to close it quietly. Hotel has beautiful lobby with multiple comfortable seating areas throughout, some tucked away from main passage. Never had an issue finding street parking but you have to read the parking signs carefully and use the pay app.
- 5/5
Great little amenities. The steamer was missing but there was also an iron available. There was also an umbrella available just in case it rained.
- 5/5
Nice clean room, friendly staff, excellent dinner
- 1/5
The room was filthy and cold. There was a full set of someone's toenails on the carpet. It clearly hasn't been vacuumed. The AC wasn't working. After half dozen calls to reception, I was brought a tiny space heater. An hour later the room was still freezing so I had to move all my stuff to a smaller and noisier room. Staff were unhelpful and had to be repeatedly asked to do what they just said they would do. Horrible experience
- 4/5
Did not get breakfast at the hotel
- 4/5
The hotel rooms need to be re-done by professional contractors. The rooms currently appear to be done by a lazy and sloppy handyman.
- 3/5
They do not tell customers about the taxes in property and mention it only as a safety deposit. They tell you at check out that it is for the property taxes.
- 5/5
I did not eat breakfast in the hotel so no judgment. Elevators slow and crowded at rush times. Very efficient reception service. Minimal sized bathroom but all worked well
- 5/5
I try to book at the Melrose every time I go to DC. I liked the staff, comfort, good location, and excellent breakfast (for extra $) Highly recommend to stay here at least once.
- 5/5
We were on a short visit to DC. Hotel location was great, very close to some good restaurants, a short walk to the Metro, bus to Georgetown is across the street. Room was very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
Great place to stay, family friendly, clean, historic site, & near lots of shops, restaurants & entertainment. Perfect if visiting your college student.
- 5/5
Lovely place to stay! Perfect location near Georgetown, spacious well designed room! My new favorite DC hotel!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel.
- 2/5
I can confidently say that I will not be making a reservation here ever again. Was given prices & information that was very misleading. During my stay I paid for valet, which to my knowledge is separate from the hotel, which I was told by the guy it would be cheaper flat fee which I paid for immediately through the link he sent. Upon checking out the next morning, I call my car from valet & start getting notifs of an attempt to charge my card of a WAY larger amount. This was extremely misleading & I brought it up to a man at the front desk where there was also a woman I didnt meet prior who was now running valet, who was EXTREMELY rude to my friend and I when I mentioned the price the guy told me. She kept making snarky comments about how we could've used street parking & rolling her eyes. She was going to make the front desk employee charge me the "correct" amount upon check out for the valet until she opened whatever app she uses & it showed I had paid for it already... Not only did we have that horrible interaction upon check out, we also had another rude interaction with a lady regarding check out time. We confirmed over the phone days prior to our stay that we got a 12pm check out w 1hr complimentary, she said no & we'd be charged, which we weren't. Hotel is clean, but very outdated. Bathroom fixtures were loose & kept falling. Left the hotel & they are still trying to charge me the ambiguous valet price & additional for who knows what. Shame on them!
- 4/5
It is an historic property so the rooms tend to be bigger and wall thicker so it’s a quieter experience for sure than the more modern hotels. They just don’t have any ice machines on each floor. And the bartender was not really there when they were supposed to be to take advantage of the $30 credit we had. And The halls are not really vacuumed as much as they should be. The coffee was good. But not available for long. The property itself is starting to get a little beat up terms of the fixtures and painting. Good location for walking to Georgetown major issues parking. There is no parking available. We have to find a garage is open 24 seven or street parking and keep feeding a meter.
- 4/5
That being said the location is great. The staff is helpful and communicative and it is a solid book. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Needs MEP capex!
- 5/5
Great historic hotel. Well-appointed. Friendly staff.
- 1/5
12 cockroaches killed. Dead ones even in the well of the phone - picked up phone 4 live ones and 2 crushed w hand set. Toilet paper hardware falling - mold on bathtub. Pictures to back up. I requested a full comp. They did a 50% off. I made it clear that will not do.
- 2/5
the bathroom toilet was not cleaned upon my artival. bathroom shower faucets ect are scummy and old moving around not fit to walk. carpet needs deep cleaning or replacement.
- 5/5
The coffee in the morning was great, the room was nice with good amenities. I liked gym. Some upkeep would be beneficial in bathrooms where there was some traces of water / moisture impact. The building is so beautiful! We loved the lobby and the bar/restaurant
- 4/5
Very spacious room, walls kinda thin, comfortable bed, close to dining/transportation options. Would have been nice if the bar had more of a vibe to it, otherwise a nice stay
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and the property was classy and elegant.
- 4/5
Good calue for the stay. Bathrooms r a bit small need make walkin showers
- 5/5
I have been staying at Melrose for the last several years. It is convenient and good Google price.
- 4/5
Staff was super friendly. Place was very clean. Great hotel. I would stay again. My door jammed a little bit. 630. Needs some wd40 lol once I thought I was locked in. Also late at night you can't get any ice... or a drink anywhere... or silverware in the building. I also couldn't reheat food. The lady at the desk was nice enough to do it for me but otherwise no access.
- 4/5
Spent 3 days here, good base for Washington sight seeing, Georgetown to the left with nice shops, bars n restaurants. City to the right all within walking distance. Staff were great and helpful, booked taxis, morning coffee in reception, room was nice, decor a little tired.
- 5/5
Really wonderful room. Probably was a full apartment in a previous life.
- 5/5
very nice area, positioned so that it is close to everything
- 4/5
Ac could be better along with shower but other than that, very nice.
- 5/5
Staff was extremely professional and kind.
- 4/5
Nice property. Carpets in room could use some cleaning but the hotel is well maintained, good location, nice staff, and a pleasant stay!
- 5/5
A+++ hotel
- 5/5
the staff and valets are wonderful, decent size rooms and clean
- 5/5
amazing staff I really enjoyed my stay
- 4/5
It would be nice to have a microoven
- 5/5
My son and I had a wonderful time in DC. Our accommodations at Melrose Georgetown was perfect. We were most impressed with the service and the level of courtesy we experienced.
- 1/5
Lots of maintenance issues
- 5/5
Friendly staff and nice rooms
- 1/5
The property had a major issue and cancelled my reservation. The issue occurred hours before I arrived however I was not notified that I wouldn't be able to stay at the hotel until I arrived. I was forced to wander the streets at midnight looking for another hotel with immediate availability. I had to bill a very expensive room to my employer and now have to submit a detailed explanation for why I exceeded my travel budget to my manager. This could have been avoided if the hotel had communicated the issue earlier in the day.
- 5/5
Excellent cuisine for breakfast
- 5/5
All staff I interacted with were excellent. Location also awesome. Absolutely would stay again!!
- 5/5
Great property. Staff and food top notch. Price was great for a high end place.
- 2/5
No pool, no ice machines, no free hotel breakfast like most hotels offer. Did not communicate the correct price of the room
- 5/5
2nd time staying here. I booked through Hotels.com..I honestly feel like I would get a better room location if booked with the hotel directly. My first room was nice but the view was the worst, all pipes and building mechanisms. This time I got a room on the 1st floor and my view was a brick wall. I didnt ask to be switched, I just dealt with it.The front desk staff was very nice and helpful.
- 4/5
Hotel bien situé et dans un endroit sûr !
- 3/5
Staff were friendly. It
- 5/5
Child at GWU. Second time here. Small hotel, great location (close to Mall and Georgetown in nice area). Pretty hotel, clean. Bathroom paint bubbled but I think bc small and likely too much condensation from shower. Personally prefer to larger chains in area. Easier to get in and out
- 5/5
Large suites, friendly staff, convenient location
- 4/5
we stayed 3 nights and had no cleaning service. I didn’t mind no clean linens etc but was surprised that a hotel like this wouldn’t at least send someone in to get rid of trash, make bed, etc. Also the lighting system was extremely confusing and we had to stumble around in the dark to find switches. There appeared to be no master switch, nor did the wall switches work. That being said, in every other way our stay was great.
- 5/5
Beautiful historic hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. Our suite was really nice and comfortable.
- 5/5
warm welcome and convenient for walking into GW school for family acts
- 5/5
Nice hotel in convenient locations the rooms are a little worn, but the beds are generally comfortable. The lobby area is very nice. Great staff.
- 5/5
Excellent staff. Valet parking was efficient and professional. Front desk was gracious, welcoming and professional. Response to request for new iron in room was very quick and staff who delivered it was professional and friendly.
- 5/5
Loved the historic property. Service was great. Near amazing Georgetown too
- 5/5
La cercanía a los demás lugares
- 5/5
This hotel is within walking distance from many landmarks. Clean and comfortable rooms.
- 3/5
- 3/5
The property was adequate but it did not go above and beyond. There was no bellperson to assist with luggage, and there wasn’t a door person who gives a sense of security at a city property.
- 5/5
I love staying at the Melrose when in DC. It is great location - right over the bridge from Georgetown - so walkable to all of Georgetown and also I can still run to the mall in the morning. Trader Joe's is nearby and other restaurant options. The decor is lovely and the rooms are spacious and have all that you need. All staff there have been friendly and help with unique requests. Gym is solid, too. Would highly recommend.
- 5/5
Very nice boutique hotel.
- 5/5
great locations, great lobby and bar
- 5/5
Welcoming hotel. Loved the location and room size.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Great location and spacious rooms
- 4/5
The hotel is located within walking distance or close to a metro station to most of the important sites in DC. The property and room were clean and the staff were friendly and answered all of my questions.
- 4/5
Good hotel
- 4/5
I like how this property was located right at the beginning of the Georgetown neighborhood, a few blocks away from the foggy bottom, metro stop, and adjacent, practically to George Washington University, Medical Center, which allowed you access to many different parts of the city, because the subway sat basically on the campus.
- 5/5
The hotel was very nice in a great location. The staff were super friendly. The food and coffee from the restaurant was amazing.
- 5/5
Chanee’ was so friendly and helpful. She, along with the other staff there, always greeted us and asked if we needed anything. Lizbeth even text me during our stay to check on us and see if we needed anything. We will be back!
- 5/5
Great location! Nice rooms.
- 5/5
Loved everything. Great gym option Great staff
- 3/5
Room had a severe ant jn
- 5/5
Front Desk EXCELLENT Customer Service. The young lady from London
- 5/5
The staff at the Melrose was fantastic! Liz and Melissa at the front desk were absolutely fantastic! The room had a beautiful view of the city! Thank you so much.
- 5/5
Location is key here! To the left Georgetown area and to the right the Capitol building all with in walking distance!
- 4/5
AC didn’t work very well
- 5/5
Very helpful staff from front desk to valet. Made the trip comfortable and easy, and in a great location within the city!
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again during my next visit to Washington DC.
- 3/5
The front desk service was delightful and very helpful. Our first room was dirty, smelled like an old shoe, and the air conditioning didn’t work. The elevator smelled like my son‘s freshman dorm in college and he was the one that noticed that. The next room was much better, but the air conditioning still did not work well. I usually don’t send in reviews. The lobby is very pretty and clean but the rooms do not compare! You only get cleaning service every third day of your stay at this hotel perhaps that’s why the rooms get so dirty- I do not believe I would stay here again.
- 3/5
1. Water in room was $11. That's a Vegas thing, people in nice East Coast hotels don't expect ripoffs like that. 2. House cleaning is on a three day rotation but rooms don't have towel racks, so you have to ask for special service, get new towels, or stop taking showers. 3. Woman at check in did not mention $30 meal credit that came with room. 4. When I did use the credit, after my wife reminded me of it, the waiter indicated that people using meal credits had to order from a separate menu, presumably with higher prices. 5. Same waiter said that he didn't have coffee ready but cobbled together something from an Americano and a little bit of remaining coffee. Ten points for honesty but what kind of hotel doesn't have readily available coffee at breakfast?
- 5/5
Very quiet, clean and comfortable. King corner suite was worth the upgrade for great space, window light, pit sofabed. Great location near Georgetown & Metro. I highly recommend nearby Bluestone Lane for breakfast/brunch. I really wish this hotel offered recycling... but did appreciate wall-mounted toiletries versus lots of little plastic bottles.
- 4/5
Great property with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Just think the showers could definitely use some new heads and significantly more water pressure. Will definitely be back either way though and love the staff.
- 5/5
The air conditioning in my room unfortunately could not keep up with the demands of the rest of the hotel unfortunately. Unfortunately the weather was very hot and muggy, but the hotel staff tried absolutely everything to help with my comfort. I just kept the curtains drawn during the late afternoon and a fan going. A later checkout was complimentary as well which was nice. I’ll definitely rebook, just not in the middle of summer.
- 3/5
I liked the location and the lobby but the rooms could have been cleaner and the beds were not very comfortable.
- 5/5
I like everything things about the hotel. Except parking too expensive. There’s no microwave in the room.
- 4/5
Over charged my card
- 5/5
Historic hotel
- 4/5
Nice and centrally located
- 4/5
Hotel was very nice, but the HVAC system is a deal breaker. The hotel has a central furnace system that blows in humid, barely cool air. Everything else about the property was great. But with it being summertime, it's definitely not a place I would visit again
- 2/5
Not clean, staff wasn’t good. The hotel is so old. Not recommended.
- 4/5
The bed was super comfy. Loved that the soap and body wash was molten brown. Everyone was super nice. The manager was super nice. Happy hour was great valet was easy in and easy out.
- 2/5
This may have been a 4 star property at some point but its not any longer. Next time ill just do like the rest of the residence in dc and sleep on the ground.
- 5/5
We liked the hotel - excellent location, the room was clean and staff attentive
- 5/5
Staff were helpful and close to Trader Joe’s and Foggy Bottom metro.
- 5/5
Loved our stay
- 5/5
It's an average hotel in an excellent location with an incredible staff. Soft beds, great toiletries (separate shampoo and conditioner), and Lavazza coffee.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly.
- 5/5
Very beautiful and comforting hotel.
- 5/5
Helpful valet and front desk, great location
- 4/5
The hotel was well maintained, with a lovely lobby area to enjoy sitting in the evenings or after a long day sightseeing. There was a nice outside seating area too. The room was spacious and well equipped, I was impressed with the room. My main criticism would be the cost of food and drinks. It was outrageously expensive!
- 5/5
Nice place!
- 4/5
Spacious rooms with fridge and all the necessities but some dampness/moisture issues. Friendly staff, nice lobby, restaurant and bar.
- 5/5
Hotel bem confortável e bem localizado. Quartos espaçosos, camas confortáveis, recepcionistas atenciosos. Dá pra ir a pé até o Lincoln Memorial e a M Street, com várias lojas e restaurantes.
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel in great location
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel nicely restored. Room was comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Nice place in a good location. Great staff - very friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
No housekeeping, room very dirty.
- 5/5
The staff was all very friendly and the room was comfortable. Everyone was happy to answer questions and make our stay go smoothly. Lizbeth at the front desk checked us in very late at night and was very helpful and friendly in our exhausted stupor!
- 2/5
It was meh. Quite pricey. Found out about the hotel’s historical fee/day charge on the day of checking in. No staff to keep up the rooms. Staff was ok at the check in desk but not helpful either.
- 5/5
Great location, near metro and restaurants. The hotel restaurant is excellent.
- 3/5
Property had poor Wi-Fi in the rooms which was incredibly frustrating. Regarding cleanliness they only clean rooms every three days or give extra towels upon request. There was a crumb of food or something on the carpet and it immediately attracted a bunch of ants, and there was a rat trap underneath the TV with bait in it. The room was hot and muggy with A/C set to 60 it didn't work. Not worth the money if you need to stay more than 1 night.
- 5/5
Great, as always.
- 5/5
Amazing hotel for decent price. Very spacious and provided everything we needed!
- 4/5
Nice hotel in most ways except for the tub showers and children`s toilets.
- 3/5
There is no magnifying mirror. This hotel need to be upgraded
