Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its excellent location near the Potomac River and Old Town Alexandria, with friendly and helpful staff. However, there are recurring issues with parking, noise, and cleanliness in some rooms.

We couldn't find where to get water for the room
- 3/5
location was great staff in hotel. Front desk woman was sitting in the guest lobby in a guest chair looking at her phone when we got up that morning instead of being behind the front desk. The restaurant waiter forgot our orange juice at breakfast and our room had a weird smell to it....and noticed a fruit fly kind of bug flying in the room.
- 5/5
Our go-to hotel in Old Town. Dog-friendly with quick access to walking trails.
- 4/5
Great location and very attentive staff. I have never stayed at a hotel before that had towels that were as thin as paper towels and all frayed too!
- 4/5
Well decorated hotel with lovely Furniture ambiance and design
- 5/5
Great for persons traveling with a pet. Very dog friendly - including dining on outside patio. Well located on the trendy waterfront.
- 5/5
Location location location! Riverfront with plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy. Parking garage was a bonus and worth the extra because you don’t need your car.
- 4/5
Overall it was a decent hotel.
- 3/5
Location, Location, Location. The hotel is very clean. It was nice to have on-sight and easily accessible parking. The room was only provided with one towel each. Most hotels provide 2 per person. The room safe did not work which should have been checked BEFORE we checked in. As we only use it on our way out of the room we didn't realize it was inoperable until we were leaving for our reservation, so the hotel's offer to fix it was moot. When we checked in, the front desk personnel did not explain that the key card was needed in the elevator.

Great location, very clean hotel with great parking for ev vehicles
- 4/5
The location was great. Walking distance to King street and all the food and shops. The restaurant was just ok. What annoyed me was that my wife and I went for breakfast and they tacked on a 20% tip with saying anything. I had to ask what the charge was for. Also $30 per day parking is steep.

Really good location in the heart of Old Town over looking the river walk; large comfortable room; and conveniently located parking garage Can’t think of anything!

Great location in old Alexandria. Nice views of the Potomac. Very nice room with a balcony. Easy parking in the basement.

Exceptional
- 5/5
Lovely hotel and great location. Room was very stylish and clean. Parking is convenient and has an elevator directly to the floors above. The rate is $42 and allows in and out of the garage with no additional fee. There are parking garages nearby and if lucky street parking if you don't want the to pay the high price. The only objection I have is the Amenity fee charge of $25 which was not explained to me and could have been used towards the a la carte breakfast.

I reported an issue with a strobing light in bathroom. The did not fix it. Desk staff was dismissive when I reported the issues.
- 5/5
Great hotel!
- 5/5
Great staff, amenities and location was fantastic easy access to shops and Riverfront and park.
- 5/5
Very Friendly Staff and Clean Room. Nice Restaurant/Bar.
- 4/5
Great location for visiting Old Town Alexandria. Floors(carpet) and room on second floor showing wear and a little musty smell. Know parking garage has very low clearance (I believe 5’ 8”).
- 5/5
Staff were super friendly and helpful
- 5/5
I sent my dad there for rest and relaxation for his 80th birthday! All he could talk about was how amazing the property was from the location on the water, to the town with shops and restaurants he was able to walk to, to the beautiful room and lobby and the wonderful food in the onsite restaurant. He was trested very special when he let them know he just turned 80! He is ready to go back and take my mom for their 59th wedding anniversary!
- 4/5
kind or empathetic cafe s across the street was unkind -i had explained to them i was exhausted and I forgot to mention my discount - ect long story you can read about it on google or yelp - I think hotel was good in this blizzard situation
- 5/5
Good stay eating options great, surrounding area very lively
- 5/5
Staff was very welcoming, room was spotless and comfortable, hotel was quiet and bar had great view of the river on a snowy evening.
- 5/5
Stay here. You will not be disappointed. Give the staff a raise. They are exceptional!
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the staff, outstanding.
- 5/5
The hotel experience was amazing. Friendly staff, clean room. What made it even better was that guest have up to 15$ credit to spend on snacks and drinks. My stay was very pleasant.
- 4/5
Good restaurant, the hummingbird
- 5/5
The room was wonderful. The main problem was the WiFi I couldn’t get it to work and I had hard time attending a zoom cal .
- 5/5
Clean, quiet, very courteous staff!
- 5/5
Service dog was welcomed Parking area staff guy was equally excellent Kudos all round
- 5/5
Staff was great. Housekeeping great, too. We loved the room.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Excellent price point. Clean. Comfy bed. Helpful friendly staff. No complaints. Loved this stay.
- 3/5
Hotel is great, and staffs are friendly. I just wish they are up front with the hidden amenity fee + tax. I'm more than willing to pay for it if the charges are up front or included in the price. Deceptive tactics are bad for Hotel Indigo brand. I'm glad not all IHG brand does that.
- 1/5
The $42 parking fee per day for a limited number of tiny compact parking spaces is ridiculous. Guests at this property are forced to pay an unexpected $25 amenity fee/day in exchange for overpriced junk food at the front desk. I was terribly disappointed with my stay.
- 1/5
Parking was not included with reservation. Vehicle info was required with check-in. Very misleading. No notice. The room itself was clean, but very small. The parking garage was a joke. The attendants were not helpful. I had to check out early due to a possible gas leak. The hotel did not reach out to discount my stay or at the very least comp the parking.
- 5/5
Room spotless and bathroom clean.
- 5/5
Outstanding
- 5/5
Always good service here.
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Like the location and how easy it was to walk to nearby shops and restaurants. Parking was easy and secure. A great place for my family and I to stay for a few days.
- 5/5
Great room in a very area
- 5/5
Great rooms and beautiful facility. Poor cell service was the only problem. We were there with a group and had trouble reaching people if they were back at the hotel. Otherwise, great spot, amazing location for Old Town and wonderful and friendly staff at the front desk.
- 5/5
Newer contemporary hotel in central location overlooking the water. Pet friendly! Attentive service, good casual dining.
- 3/5
OK...I guess it's on me...that buried in the fine print of a secondary web page, they have a $28.88 extra fee, per day, when you show up. I hate patronizing places that hide fees like this. Look on Expedia and try to find it. The guy said "Haven't you heard of a resort fee." Well, yeah...but; there are no extra amenities for their fee...except you get $15 credit, per day, on their overpriced chips and stuff down in the lobby. We were there 3 days before we realized there was a fridge in the room. It looks like a small chest of drawers, with 2 fake drawers on the front. There is no microwave in the room, They are relatively cheap these days and would be a good addition. There is a Keurig coffee machine in the room, stocked with 2 regular coffees. They also had decaf and tea...so, we picked up some extra coffee at the CVS They put a $100 hold / per day on your credit card...so, $800 hold for our stay...a few days past our stay, if that is a concern for you. Other than that, it's a great place to stay. Bonus: Find Jack's Place for value priced great eats. We had breakfast there 2 times, picked up breakfast sandwiches 3 times for the metro ride, had burgers one day and Cheesesteak sandwiches and a bulgogi rice bowl another day. Between the free trolley / circulator buses and the Metro subway, we didn't need a car.
- 5/5
I love this hotel!

This was our first time staying at the Indigo. The hotel was very clean and the staff were so friendly and welcoming! Our room had a view of the river and was beautiful. It was conveniently located near King Street and all the restaurants and stores. Reservations highly recommended. Will definitely stay again!

We asked for room service, our second and third day we were there not once did housekeeping.Drop off new towels and our request were ignored. The entire time we were there. If you would like fresh towels or your room tidied up, I would stay elsewhere

Staff is always incredible, friendly, and like family. The entire hotel is a wonderful experience for the holidays every year!
- 4/5
Lots of places to see and dine here.
- 5/5
Helpful and friendly front desk staff, nice room, good view.
- 5/5
Excellent staff all around from the front to the restaurant. Every once made us feel that we were the only ones. There. We will be back.
- 5/5
My stay was immaculate, thank you very much
- 5/5
Fantastic people work here! Our room was spotless and comfortable. However I do have a bone to pick with the air system. It’s a bit noisy and it was also very very warm in our room. Once we were able to adjust the thermostat it took a while for the room to cool down. It made for a restless first night. Otherwise great stay! Very close to King and great restaurants. Try the Cardinal Sin at Hummingbird, quite a striking drink and lovely tasting as well!
- 5/5
Great Location near the Waterfront and Other Shops and Dining. Hotel Restaurant/Bar was very nice. Parking a little challenging.
- 5/5
Clean room comfortable bed. Bigger towels and robes would be nice. Great old town location
- 3/5
Room and staff were good. What was egregious was $43 for parking. Should be included or in line with neighboring overnight lots eg $15
- 5/5
Clean, quiet room. Close to everything in old Town. Will stay here again
- 5/5
Friendly staff and great location.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect and charming, just like Old Town Alexandria. Wonderful location on the riverfront walk, close to everything you want to do, The water taxi is right there to take you over to the Wharf in DC. I can't say enough positive things about this hotel and staff. One small thing, the bathrooms are very dimly light. Other than that, a solid 10! Oh, and the breakfast is not free but it is reasonably priced in the restaurant.
- 4/5
Location
- 5/5
Good breakfast, slightly overpriced but good quality of fresh foods
- 5/5
Wasnt told anything about free breakfast. Garage too small for price. STAFF so friendly and helpful! Room beautiful. Bed cozy.
- 5/5
5 stars!
- 5/5
Clean, and quiet!
- 5/5
We had a girls weekend and was extremely happy with our accommodations. Rooms were spacious and clean! Beds were comfortable. There are so many excellent options for meal, shopping and historical landmarks, tours, waterfront, all within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The parking garage is on duke street under the hotel. Even though it maybe full let the attendant know that you are a guest of the hotel. There is space for you. The only downside was the amenity fees at the end of our stay, partly because we didn't understand the process. I would suggest that you ask questions, because you get charged this fee per room every night. Good thing we got items from the snack area, which used the fees to pay. Other than that it is a wonderful place to stay.
- 5/5
Good value
- 5/5
The staff makes Hotel Indigo an excellent destination. Very knowledgeable in terms of providing options to consider.
- 5/5
Lovely view with great location
- 5/5
Great area to stay when visiting the DMV!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Very comfortable stay. Would recommend to anyone.
- 3/5
Room’s ac was broken, the staff’s response was great. Changed rooms so the technician could correct the issue. A+ to the staff.
- 4/5
The hotel’s location was excellent. We parked when we arrived and only needed the car once in four days. The staff were wonderful, and I’d absolutely recommend staying here again. My only suggestion would be to update the mattress in our room, especially since it’s one of the upgraded categories because we could feel some springs while sleeping. Aside from that, everything else was perfect.
- 4/5
1. They charge a $25 a day amenity fee, which can be offset by taking snacks from their snack bar, which is weird. 2. Parking at this place isn't worth the headache. Either take a Lyft or walk from the Metro. With all that being said, my stay was great. I stayed in room #307. Great floor to ceiling windows with a view of the waterfront. Plenty of restaurants/bars just a block away. Check in and check out was a breeze. I didn't try the hotel restaurant, but the wife and I did enjoy sitting out on the hotel patio in the late afternoon. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Indigo over Labor Day week end. Everything about the hotel was great, from its location very near the waterfront to its very comfortable bed. Recommend highly to visitors to Old Town Alexandria Va
- 5/5
Great location
- 4/5
Clean, has a restaurant, close to King Street and the water and it was quiet.
- 5/5
Great hotel with excellent hotel staff. One of my favorite hotels to visit and stay.
- 5/5
Love this hotel & location. Room was spacious & well appointed. Filtered water dispenser was a fantastic feature. Staff was accommodating. Didn't quite understand the $25 daily fee which provides a $15 purchase at the in house market as we typically would not be purchasing these items. Would've preferred a reduced fee.
- 5/5
Adorable boutique hotel right in between Little Italy in Chinatown. Friendly and helpful staff. Location amazing with dozens of dining options literally around the corner. Easy uber ride to midtown.
- 5/5
Great customer service, clean hotel & close to the main attractions. Loved it & will be back
- 3/5
Location is great. Only problem we had was that after a long, hot day of sightseeing we arrived back at our room and the cleaning people were there! It was 6:30pm! We left that morning around 10:30am!
- 4/5
Front desk gentleman was not very welcoming.
- 5/5
Very clean rooms and hotel. Nice shower. Beds were comfortable
- 5/5
Beautiful view!
- 5/5
The hotel is well-located on the waterfront of Old Alexandria. The waterfront is a beautiful place to walk. The parking garage at the hotel was very convenient. It’s also easy walking distance to other sites and restaurants in town. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great staff and excellent walkable location.
- 5/5
Bed and pillows are comfortable, and the fitness room has all the basics that I needed for my 5 night stay. Shower has great water pressure, and the soap and lotions provided smell wonderful.
- 5/5
Best location on the Potomac and in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Chadwick’s restaurant is just out the back entrance to the left. There are so many historic sites to visit within walking distance such as the tomb of the unknown revolutionary war soldier behind the Presbyterian Meeting house, and the first Catholic Church in the Virginia colony, basilica St. Mary’s, and countless other historic places.
- 4/5
Would have given 5 stars but No WiFi! Although logged in correctly, limited to no internet access. Calls could not be made or received. Given incorrect reasons by front desk: near the water, SOS means carrier can’t access data for calls.
- 5/5
Fantastic location in Old Town Alexandria.
- 5/5
The location is perfect for open shopping and restaurants and it sits right on the water.
- 5/5
A very clean and spacious room with fluffy pillows and comfortable bed. Location was a short walking distance from dozens of local shops and restaurants. And near parks and shaded walking trails along the Potomac River. Very helpful, friendly staff who excelled at customer service.
- 3/5
Overall nice. However the rooms have only limited coverage area rugs resulting in loud stomping noises every time someone on the floor above me walked around the room. It kept me awake all night. Literally.
- 5/5
Nice stay in a great neighborhood.
- 5/5
Perfect location overlooking the Potomac. Rooms clean and staff is friendly. Great stay.
- 5/5
Super cute hotel, great location!
- 4/5
This is the only hotel on the waterfront in Alexandria which is a huge plus.
- 5/5
The Indigo is so well placed with access to the waterfront and to King st. A very walkable area.
- 5/5
very clean.
- 5/5
Great staff, stylish, great site.
- 2/5
I call the front desk in the morning for request some items brought up to my room around 8am. They told me to come get it myself because he was the only one there and abruptly hanged up the phone. That is a fair ask, but the communication was very poor, plus 8am and only one person working?
- 5/5
Great hotel and location. Walkable to shops and restaurants. Wonderful restaurant in hotel.
- 2/5
I immediately called the hotel and spoke to an employee named Nigel who, after going over the charges, admitted I was overcharged. He promised to credit my account and send me an email confirming the correction. Three days later I still had not received the email. I called and spoke to Nigel again. This time he sent the confirming email while I was still on the phone with him, but after 12 days my account still has not been credited the overcharge. The overcharge and false promise is very disappointing. It’s a disheartening ending to an otherwise enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
Quiet area. Friendly staff. The rooms are well equipped and in very good condition.
- 5/5
Great hotel in a wonderful area
- 5/5
Great Olde Towne location.
- 4/5
Costly but good location.
- 4/5
Nice place . Nice people. Good choice for sure. Excellent location
- 5/5
Very nice place to stay n staff were very nice
- 5/5
Amazing dog friendly hotel! Huge rooms, comfy beds, and great location. Right across from a lovely park, which was perfect for taking our pup to potty at night.
- 4/5
wonderful location for shopping, dining and right on the water otherwise nothing special but comfortable enough Wish there were more amenities in the bathroom Also, wasn’t crazy about $25 fee included in room charge for $15 snack/drink charge and 10% off at 3 nearby establishments
- 5/5
Always a beautiful experience
- 5/5
Amazing and Lyndsey was the best!!!
- 2/5
AC didn’t work 4 of the 4 nights. Front desk had no solitions
- 5/5
This hotel was very well located, in view of the river and easily walkable to the waterfront and all the quaint streets, shops and restaurants of Old Town. The Hummingbird restaurant was awesome - we had both breakfast and dinner there - and had lots of outdoor seating including some with water views. All the hotel staff were lovely. We'd go back in an instant!
- 5/5
Good location
- 5/5
Hotel was great! Staff was amazing. Parking was a challenge especially for $42 a night.
- 5/5
From parking in the garage to the front desk staff, everyone was exceptional, including the restaurant people even the cleaning ladies were very polite couldn’t have had a better experience. The hotel was phenomenal, beautiful clean, and very art deco convenient to all fun restaurants
- 5/5
Love this property. Every experience has been great. Spacious clean rooms with very comfortable bedding. Does not look/feel like a hotel. Quiet end of an active area / easily walkable to everything.
- 5/5
Fantastic in every way
- 3/5
Toilet ran, low water pressure, window coverings did not work, cheap fixtures...including coffee maker.
- 5/5
Great service, unbeatable location.
- 4/5
The location and staff were great. One item to pay attention to is an added charge at the property of $25 for everyone. Didn’t expect that to be added onto the final bill, but overall it was a great stay.
- 5/5
The front desk was exceptionally helpful - shout out to Marshay and Nigel!
- 5/5
Friendly staff good location.
- 5/5
Great stay and wonderful location. Will stay again.
- 2/5
Not a great property. The room itself was fine—large with a comfortable bed. The plumbing in the bathroom leaked. The common areas were a bit degraded. Lots of chipped paint, and hall carpets did not seem too clean. Not enough staff at front desk or in restaurant.
- 4/5
Very clean property near King street
- 4/5
Not ready at 3pm. Waited half hour. We did get $50 credit at their restaurant. Goidview of the river and part of dc
- 3/5
Did not like no carpeting in rooms. Showerhead dripped for two hours after use which made it hard to sleep. Did not like $30/night amenity fee, although it did include $15/night of snacks at their location. I wish it had a complimentary breakfast as their restaurant is very expensive, so we walked to nearby breakfast place called Jack's which was great.
- 5/5
We had a great stay there. The view from the room was amazing.
- 5/5
We stayed at this hotel with our two daughters. Check in was very easy, and staff was so friendly any time we saw them. Our room was clean and spacious- we very much enjoyed our time and can’t wait to return! Thank you for a great stay!
- 5/5
Perfect location. Close to King Street and across from the water. We loved our room with the water view!
- 4/5
AC is v noisy; otherwise would have given 4 stars. Also do not like paying extra for amenities like gym. Although they give a credit of $15 towards snacks.
- 5/5
Great location for walking old town area and the riverfront.
- 5/5
The people are really friendly and inviting. The location is excellent!
- 5/5
We stayed here one night and it was great, convenient location, walkable and quiet. The place across the street from the hotel offers excellent breakfast.
- 5/5
Loved everything
- 2/5
Had to call maintenance for two different problems with my room. They corrected the problems, but the problems shouldn't have existed in the first place. Also, while check-in time is 3:00, my room wasn't ready at 3:00 and I had to wait to check in.
- 5/5
Walking distance to all the mazing restaurants!
- 5/5
The location was great and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We will return.
- 5/5
It was our third time staying here, everything was exceptional.
- 5/5
The staff are great. Lyndsay and Steffon super helpful and welcoming. Housekeeping staff is great too. I'll come back.
- 5/5
It was lovely
- 5/5
All good.
- 5/5
Always a fantastic stay here!
- 4/5
Convenient, quiet and clean. Parking fee was high and not well communicated either in the website or in person( both at check in and the next day when i inquired at the desk)
- 5/5
Nice place!!!
- 5/5
Very convenient. Within walking distance to activities on King Street including the Principle Gallery reception that was reason for the trip. Friendly staff and nice room.
- 5/5
Staff very helpful
- 5/5
This is a wonderfully clean and comfortable hotel down in the midst of old Alexandria. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Our stay was wonderful which made it easy to enjoy the beautiful area around there.
- 5/5
We live to stay here. It’s close by to all restaurants and the water. I wish the rooms has windows you can open .
- 5/5
My wife and I arrived on Valentine’s Day after attending a concert at mgm national harbor and the front desk staff was very friendly and chatted with my wife and I upon checking in. The room was very nice and clean. We had a very nice stay and highly recommend this hotel to other potential guests
- 5/5
Hotel Indigo is exactly what I was looking for with this trip. It was convenient to shopping and restaurants, and a short ride to the airport and DC. The staff were AMAZING - super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and updated, the lobby perfect for waiting for my ride share. I will stay here again when returning to the area.
- 5/5
Front desk very helpful and friendly. A beautiful view of the river!
- 4/5
Coffee and tea service in the room was nice. The river view was beautiful, even in the rain. Loved how they provided a refilable filtered water station and 2 glass bottles for our use in the room. Much better than water bottle waste. The linens and pillows were comfortable, but the mattress was too firm for my liking and I woke with hip pain during the nigjt. Staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
Easy check in, friendly staff, room clean, quiet and comfortable.
- 1/5
Paid a deposit for this stay via hotels.com, i showed the front desk clerk my receipt, i showed management my receipt, all from hotels.com and they never ever credited my account. The bank will do it no worries, last stay there. This place has crated in quality over the last few years. I've held my tongue about the mice in the restaurant for a while, so now you know.
- 5/5
Awesome location
- 5/5
We were only there for one night but the staff was excellent and the hotel is right on the water and close to many excellent restaurants and shops ! Definitely would recommend!
- 5/5
The stay was wonderful. Stephan went out of his way to make it such a pleasurable experience - as did Nigel - and the room and view was beautiful. Looking forward to coming back.
- 5/5
Convenient to dining
- 4/5
My only issue with my stay was with the size of the parking accomodations. Parking our 4 door sedan led to some tight fits and needing to squeeze carefully out of the car as a small person. Parking attendants did their best to assist but garage limitations made parking a little bit stressful. Not enough to deter me from returning to that was overwhelmingly a great stay but good to note.
