Reviews
The hotel's location is highly praised for its proximity to downtown Bend, making it easy to walk to various amenities. However, the majority of reviews express disappointment with the ongoing construction, noise, and lack of communication about the hotel's renovation. Guests also frequently mention issues with cleanliness and maintenance.
- Excellent location in downtown Bend
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Ongoing construction and noise
- Lack of communication about renovation and its impact on services

The staff are really nice the place is well located. This is my second time there and I sure will be back
- 3/5
Location and comfortable beds Misleading pricing and square footage: room very small, shower narrow and small. No balcony. No breakfast included. Charged for parking. Short hours for hot tub and cold pool.
- 5/5
This is one of my favorite places to stay in Bend. Its location is perfect; right in downtown but only a 15 minute walk to the mill area. Very quiet, clean, and the rooms are fairly large. Had a great stay, can’t wait to come back!
- 5/5
Wonderful stay here! Very clean and staff was amazing!

The location and staff were friendly. The bar hours.

Location perfect for enjoying downtown Bend. Sometimes one goes to an under priced hotel and is surprised and delighted by the unexpected comforts, treats, or perks that are made available. Then there is the NEWBERRY in Bend. It’s Memorial Day weekend so you expect to pay more - in this case over $500 a night. From the descriptions on various booking sites this hotel is a step above and deserving of premium pricing. Unfortunately our expectations and this weekends reality did not match. Let’s start with $20 a night to park in a motel parking lot. Then there is the $2.50 per bottle of 12 ounce water in the room - in our case our hotel status meant we did not have to pay for this ridiculously overpriced eminity. The room had two towels, one bar of soap, and they offered bicycles for $20 for the first hour and the breakfast, while excellent, was served by an obviously over worked solo waiter who obviously couldn’t provide the level of service one might expect. I think you get the drift. This place charges top dollar for substandard service and seemingly penny pinching extras and perks. We will definitely find another hotel when we next visit Bend.

Check in was great, staff very helpful with great customer service
- 3/5
Room small and bathroom tiny, very hard to keep shower curtain in tub to prevent water on floor, not good value for the price, particularly because the tub did not drain.
- 5/5
Great!
- 3/5
Clean, good location You have to pay for parking. Seriously?! You have to pay for a bike. You have to pay for breakfast when 90 percent of hotels in America provide free breakfast for the same price. It feels like a rip off

The employees are so wonderful and helpful, especially Teresa, the receptionist and Erin in the restaurant.

Dave at breakfast. He totally made our stay. Housekeeper, Leslie, she was so sweet and so helpful.

Lovely stay. Cleaning appears to be on an alternate schedule, as our room wasn't cleaned during our stay.
- 5/5
nice and clean and cozy
- 3/5
Great location to downtown Bend. All within walking distance. Only complaint is hotel charges $20 per day for parking I feel if you are staying there they should allow you to park there. There’s plenty of parking for their guests Its just a way to gouge customers for more money.
- 5/5
Nice clean hotel
- 4/5
Breakfast menu was limited and not a good value.
- 2/5
Was charged about $70 more for two rooms than quoted on Hotels.com
- 5/5
Excellent hotel with excellent service.
- 4/5
It was exactly what we were expecting. Great location and friendly staff.
- 5/5
I had difficulty regulating my nighttime temperature. The quilt was too hot but the sheet too cold with the heat turned down to 68. more layered covers.
- 5/5
It was great, one of the best hotels that I stayed at

Newly updated, clean and friendly staff. Great location!

Location, we love a downtown hotel. Walk to everything. Our room faced a busy street, so some road noise.

Stayed here numerous times and it's always a great stay
- 2.5/5
Passable
- 3/5
The hotel was very well located. There are lots of places to eat and drink within a 5 minute walk and getting to the rest of the city is easy with a GPS system. The staff was friendly and very accommodating in choosing a room. The lighting in the room falls short. All of the lights and lamps are a distance away from the coffee maker so I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see what I was doing there. The TV was wonky every time I used it; turning itself off after a time and then I had to go through a whole restart process. I'll stay here again though, for the reasonable cost compared to other hotels nearby.
- 1.5/5
Breakfast was great, location was perfect, staff was nice BUT kept saying that room was only booked for one (not true, I rechecked this with Booking) Staff seemed to imply that we were trying to sneak an extra guest in. Gym door lock broken so gym not available. Expresso machine broken. Room refrigerated not working properly, kept items cool but not nearly cold enough. Stains on the carpet, blinds. Had to replace our room key three times because it wouldn't work -- each time staff insisted that my very ill husband had to come to the desk as only he was a guest even though the reservation was for two guests. Paying for parking --annoying!!! Paying for a bottle of water -- insulting.
- 5/5
Love this spot - great hotel and location and Teresa is exceptional. I’ll be back.
- 5/5
Great hotel if you want to stay in downtown Bend.
- 4/5
Room was fine, although the wall thermostat told us to use the heater thermostat and the heater thermostat told us to use the wall thermostat. Overall, quiet, comfy. We did NOT appreciate learning--after we'd paid what we thought was the nightly charge--that we would have to pay an extra $20 to park onsite. I think that little oversight probably violates Oregon's consumer protection laws. We also had reason to contact the hotel before our arrival, only to have to deal with a robo assistant who praised us for our fine choice of hotel. The robot connected us eventually with someone NOT at our hotel and who couldn't answer out question. AI sucks.
- 4/5
It was a very nice hotel. There was a musty smell to shower only.
- 5/5
What an amazing hotel! In the middle of downtown, excellent service and spacious and super clean rooms. A great scoop for the price for sure and will gladly come back!
- 5/5
Convenience to downtown. Room was fine, quiet. Would stay there again if I go back.
- 3/5
Proximity to downtown The breakfast service was totally inadequate where insufficient staffing led to long delays
- 3/5
1. The heating system in our room was flaky - room was too hot, even with the thermostat turned low or off, the in room heating system kept pushing the same amount of heat into the room. 2. The bed was sunken in towards the middle leaving us drifting into the center. 3. The pillows were far to soft
- 5/5
Great access to downtown bend and Old mill district at a reasonable price. Updated hotel with a friendly staff.
- 5/5
Front staff were so knowledgeable of the area for walking and very efficient at check in. Will stay again
- 5/5
Great location, close to all the shops and restaurants. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms.
- 5/5
Great room, helpful staff

Perfect walking distance for everything downtown. Clean, comfortable and quiet.

Great staff great accommodations
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean and well appointed rooms, and the property is very close to great Old Bend shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Very nice, big, clean, room. Staff were very friendly.
- 5/5
Nice hotel with great staff and wonderful location close to everything downtown. Beds were very comfortable. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Clean rooms, great location & reasonable price.
- 4/5
Yes and Yes
- 5/5
Awesome.
- 3/5
Overall, this hotel was fine. Nothing special but we did appreciate how close we were to downtown bend. We were annoyed that we were told parking would be $15 a night when we checked in and then got billed for $20 a night. Not sure how the Hilton thinks this is acceptable when their staff quotes one price and then they charge guests a higher rate.
- 5/5
Booked last minute and was a great experience for a quick stay.
- 5/5
Room was spacious and bed was comfortable!!
- 4/5
Overall.. not terrible.. just expected more.
- 3/5
The food was good but the service was barely average. Not very efficient or observant. My room wasn’t cleaned the second night at all.
- 2/5
The black outlines would not go up despite maintenance coming twice, the showerhead would not adjust to the proper position, there is a charge for parking and coffee is not available. If I am to be nickel and dimed, and I expect everything to be perfect. The rate is too high for what you get.
- 5/5
The breakfast was the best. It was very fresh, the staff were friendly, and the rooms were neat and spacious. I didn’t get the chance to use the hot tub; it was broken.
- 4/5
It was easy, safe, clean, and pet friendly. Thought it was weird that two of the towels had holes. But otherwise the stay was fine. A little pricy, but did the job.
- 5/5
Other than that, it was nice and hotels like this make me not want to use AirBnB.
- 4/5
The staff was nice and the room was comfortable
- 2/5
Very old and dated. Bathrooms were old, moldy, and unclean. Elevator had a broken floor and was extremely slow. The price tag didn’t match the property.
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
Great customer service
- 5/5
Perfect location - right downtown - walking distance to lots of restaurants and the park. Large room with balcony was great and super comfortable. Fridge and microwave. We'd definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Outstanding in every way. Great staff, great service, great room. Would have been five stars, but they charge paying guests to park there, and that is unacceptable.
- 3/5
It was ok. Note that the WiFi is very slow (5-8mbps down) so if you brought say an Apple TV with you it can lag or go to really poor quality. Easy to hook said AppleTV to the 3-4 open hdmi ports. Parking was $10/day. Breakfast was in the $18-20 range. For the price I’d try someplace else next time I come thru
- 5/5
Inadequately trained front desk staff made check in tricky and he didn’t even check my Hilton rewards so the stay wouldn’t have been credited for points had it not been for a better trained person at check out.
- 3/5
For the amount of money (and choices) I expected a lot more. It was a $200.motel for the price of a $500 hotel. No real service-no valet, Reaturant-both evening and morning, had 1 person staffing-cook, bar tending, bussing tables, it was hard to watch, let alone wanting to order but feeling sorry for them. Exactly the same for breakfast-that we paid extra with the room. We had to wait 45 minutes after we ordered, were charged and had to remind them we prepaid. Not mad at them-very terrible management! We were not the only ones taking about this-other guests were also commenting that for this price it was a low budget hotel.
- 5/5
Great for meeting folks and wirhin walking distance of great eateries
- 4/5
The downtown is all walkable from hotel. Room with a balcony was nice. Only complaint is the room was difficult to keep comfortable at night. It was usually to warm even with setting @65 degrees. We should have opened the window. Pillows were horrible didnt see any others in the closet nor did I ask about them having others. These two items made it difficult to get a good nights sleep.
- 5/5
The hotel was great. Strongly suggest to get the optional breakfast. There are good options and it is a complete sit down experience.
- 4/5
The only complaint is that the shower floor looked old and cheap, and was a bit stained, as was the tile grout on the lower portions of shower tile. Otherwise, everything was very clean and tidy.
- 4/5
Great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Entire staff made our stay warm and welcoming. Sephine at the front desk, Dave, Rochelle and Erin at the restaurant/bar and each staff we encountered were very friendly. Since we checked in late, it was nice to have someone at the front desk 24/7. Property was very clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. We had a few maintenance issues in the room, and the $15 per night parking fee is the reason for deducting one star.
- 5/5
Excellent location. We walked around and did dinner two blocks away and then walked a couple blocks to concert at Tower Theater. Very comfortable room and bed.
- 5/5
Comfortable place to stay in the heart of downtown Bend. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Honestly loved everything about this hotel staff was lovely super nice and professional. Definitely will be recommending people to stay here.
- 5/5
The remodel was very nice
- 5/5
staff was super friendly
- 1/5
We waited in the lobby and were never able to check in because the computer system was down. People were waiting for hours and totally displaced. We never got to actually stay and need a refund.
- 5/5
Loved it was downtown Bend
- 4/5
dont like getting dinged for parking after the fact. 15 bucks was added to the bill. petty annoyances stick in a consumers memory.
- 4/5
Great family friendly option in downtown bend! Hotel is newly renovated and the breakfast was delicious and a great value. My son loved the pool and hottub. All of the staff were kind and friendly especially Jodi at the front desk!
- 5/5
Elevator was out and somebody parked and blocked the parking lot and should have had their car towed.
- 4/5
I didn’t like the extra fee for parking my vehicle on hotel property. Paid enough for the room and shouldn’t have had to pay extra to park…
- 4/5
Great walkable location for access to downtown Bend. Noisy due to street traffic.
- 5/5
Clean
- 4/5
Great location! Easy to walk to downtown. Property needs updating.
- 4/5
Great location!
- 1/5
You can stay in a beautiful hotel for 50.00 more
- 4/5
It was very clean and cozy.
- 5/5
This hotel was perfect for walking around Bend, beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. We would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
nice breakfast options
- 5/5
I want to go back again
- 5/5
The hotel was excellent! Everything was central to food, transportation, and entertainment. Room was super clean, beds soft and the air conditioner was a huge plus. I would stay here again...
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff.
- 3/5
Not sure if it's moving away from being a Hilton property, but the big sign outside said "Newberry Hotel" so it took us a minute to figure out if this was actually the correct hotel! The big D on the exit doors told us it was the DoubleTree, but otherwise it was hard to figure out! The location was great, as downtown Bend was easy to walk to, and parking was plentiful.
- 5/5
Just wish there was a sign outside that explained why there was a different name on the building. There were ZERO signs outside that indicated the building was or previously was a Doubletree by Hilton. We drove around several times thinking we had the wrong address, not realizing they are in the works for renovating and it’s getting a new name.
- 3/5
The hotel is under construction and transitioning from a Doubletree to the Newbury Hotel. We were not made aware of this prior to booking and do not feel the rooms should be full price. Hammering and drilling started in the morning, and the hotel is a construction zone overall, including the lobby and common areas. They have a make-shift registration desk set up in a room that is difficult to find. Also, the door to our bathroom was not attached properly and scraped across the floor and could not be closed all the way.
- 3/5
We had a very difficult time finding the hotel Friday at 10 PM because of the name change., If we would not have had Maps on our phones, it would have been a real problem. We drove around it twice before we decided to ask, the front lobby is closed for renovation, the front desk is a make shift setup on a conference room.
- 1/5
Hotel was going thru a rehab rooms smelled like adhesive, lobby and halls were a construction site. No lobby or dining. Breakfast was a collection of packaged items. A construction job that rented rooms. We all deserve a refund or suscount
- 3/5
Lots of construction going on at the hotel, noise early in the morning. Showering with cold water or barely warm water. Ice machine on 2nd floor broken. Needed toilet paper, called the front desk and was told to go to the ground floor bathrooms and take it from there. We will not be back at this hotel.
- 4/5
I'd stay again, no problem.
- 2/5
No restrauant/breakfast available as advertised, no access to pool or gym…you had to visit a sister hotel down the road! Very disappointed that we were not notified of this situation at booking. P.S. construction started at 6am!
- 2/5
Not sure what this hotel is anymore because by all indications it's not longer a "Hilton". Major construction going on everywhere and not necessarily for the best. We had lamps with no plug ins. A shower that was more like a phone booth. A TV that didn't have a guide. Two whole towels. While it may be under "renovation" it doesn't feel like it's for the best.
- 1/5
Hotel under renovation. Construction noise and dirt everywhere. No maid service. Front desk personnel poorly trained. It took thirty minutes to check in because the girl couldn’t start the computer! I will never stay there again.
- 5/5
Good location
- 2/5
The property was under construction, we didn’t even have a view from our room due to the painting they were doing outside. Also really no food options at night, no bartenders Saturday evening. So no services completely! This was the big reason we booked this hotel is to have eating survices at night if needed. The room was recently renovated and nice. The staff behind the front desk were mediocre at best. Wish I knew renovations were commencing, would have stayed somewhere else.
- 4/5
Nice location. Property under construction with lots of noise for a Saturday. Swimming pool and spa out of order, but rates remain a book level. Nice staff - certainly not their fault.
- 2/5
Again, no advance warning that apparently the gym, spa and pool were not available, and that we were essentially staying in an active renovation. For some reason our rooms door would not lock, and when brought to the attention of the front desk they would "send someone to take a look", which never happened. Every morning we would truck out our valubles to the car since we couldnt trust the door to actually lock when we were away. Totally understand that renovations happen, but without any notice was unacceptable. Certainly not what I would expect from a Hilton property.
- 1/5
No pool smells like construction
- 3/5
They were renovating.
- 3/5
The property was clean. The staff lacked any interest in customer service and actually seemed bothered when asking for assistance. The hotel was renovating and the odor from chemicals was extremely strong. The workout room wasn’t useable. Parking was a joke. But the elevator worked!
- 1/5
Full on construction zone. What a mess.
- 5/5
Great location, easy walking downtown Bend
- 5/5
The hotel was great for what i needed. Even though renovation was going on it did not bother me. The spa was in horrible condition, it's a shame that this is not addressed by the hotel. It's not much of a complicated fix, just resurfacing.
- 3/5
The beds were perfect! So comfy and the fluffy pillows hit the spot. We areive very late, 11pm or so. The gal working never smiled or made eye contact. She was very short with her words and made you feel like an annoyance. At one point my husband who she saw with me when we arrived, forgot our room number and she refused to assist him in locating it. I understand not being able to just tell him for security reasons but she could have callled the room or my cell thats on the reservation. He eventually found the room. It was a bad first impression and we started to lose confidence in the stay. However, the rest of the staff were delightful! Breakfast was delicios and everyone else was friendly and full a smiles! Everything was clean, chrckout was smooth. Wonderful!!
- 5/5
They are currently remodeling, but other than that. It was a great place to stay.
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and the room was very clean!
- 5/5
The front desk people are awesome and so friendly. The rooms are so clean and the beds so comfortable. It's the 2nd time we've stayed there in 6 weeks. Everything is so close to this hotel in downtown Bend, Or
- 5/5
Very convenient to downtown Bend, with parking included, which is a bonus in this area.
- 3/5
charge our phones without buying plug-ins. Also, parking isn’t free.
- 4/5
I don't have any complaints, but I would recommend some maintenance to avoid future water damage. My room was in need of new sink, tub, and counter sealant. There was also a crack in the shower pan that could let water down to the floor below.
- 1/5
The real problem came during checkout and after my stay. First of all I bought snacks from their front desk. Upon opening the popcorn the entire bag ripped and popcorn fell everywhere. There is no vacuum in the room so I was unable to clean it up. I tried my best to get what I could, and left a generous tip for housekeeping. After I drive 30 minutes to the airport I notice my wedding ring is not on my finger. I remember I left it on the bathroom sink when I was washing my hands. I call the hotel and tell the front desk. To which he said he would have house keeping check. I call back 15 minutes later to check if they found it, the man insisted it was not there. He said he went in and searched EVERYWHERE with a flashlight, even got on his hands and knees. I asked if I could come look myself as I KNEW it was there. He got defensive and said there was no reason for me to come it is not there and the room has already been searched, cleaned, and is ready for the next guest. I insisted I am coming back to search as I would not be leaving town knowing my ring is in that room. I drive the 30 minutes back to the hotel and the man I spoke with walked me up to the “clean” room. As soon as I walked in I went right to the “clean” bathroom sink and behind the tissue box there is my wedding ring! Mind you, if someone had wiped down this sink would’ve seen my ring. Yet there it was! And to top it off they charged me 20$ for the popcorn on the floor.
- 5/5
Pillows had a bad smell need new pillows
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Very well located. Nice to have some food service available in the lobby. Easy walk to downtown.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Fairly clean, Stairs to downtown are great!
- 2/5
Lots of additional charges that were not apparent when we made a 3rd party reservation.
- 3/5
I didn't like the parking fee or the cost of breakfast
- 4/5
Close in to everything in Bend. Property is a bit dated. The warm cookies they gave us at checkin were awesome.
- 4/5
Should supply more linens. Could use more parking.
- 5/5
Very bad customer service at the front desk. Really bad. Sad, because everything else was wonderful. This doesn't stop me going back to your hotel in Bend. Perfect location, excellent service. Just one person can be nasty, but it gives you a bad feeling.
- 2/5
I went to the front desk to get help and the woman there was no help at all. She just said sometimes it doesn't work with Apple products because of extra security... I work for Apple and travel all over the world and never have problems logging on to Hotel Wifi's. When I mentioned that to her she got flippant with me and said 'well you explain to me why it doesn't work then'. Pretty ridiculous encounter and not helpful at all to say the least. Not to mention Apple products make up a pretty significant user base I don't think you want to exclude. I ended up having to use my phone as a hotspot in low data mode to get some work done. Regardless not acceptable
- 5/5
Front desk staff cheerful welcoming.
- 2/5
Very very expensive for so-so rooms. Check in takes way too long, poor front desk clerks are typing away forever to get your room keys. Makes no sense. Getting the "free" internet is a crazy hassle ... enter all your life info, then click through a zillion ads, and then it fails, start over! Not good won't stay here again.
- 5/5
The gal at the front was very nice and friendly. Makes all the difference. Rooms were clean and looked nice, although a bit of an “old” smell. Great location and price, would stay again.
- 5/5
Nice hotel with clean rooms and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were super helpful, we asked if we could have two beds instead of one and that was sorted quickly and easily. We needed an extended checkout (1pm) and again the staff were accommodating and it was arranged so that we could go rafting and come back, shower then check out. All in all very good service. There are a lot of food options in Bend and the staff were happy to recommend places. We didn’t use the restaurant, but they did advise the all-you-can-eat breakfast was $13 per person and was available until 9.30am. The is a small pool on site as well, which was good.
- 1/5
Since we booked through Expedia, they kept adding charges to our room. Breakfast, parking and wifi. When we chose the "complimentary" wifi, wifi service was extremely slow and we were required to divulge personal information to logon. Very poor service compared to other places we have stayed!
- 5/5
Great location, very clean.
- 4/5
The property is very close to downtown Bend. However, our room was a bit dingy with a lack of power outlets, old/damaged lamp shades and older furniture.
- 4/5
The price we paid was not equal to the quality of room in my opinion. It looked kind of outdated (for the $500 per 1 night stay), but kitchen & sink area were updated. The room had an unpleasant smell when we first arrived, but we opened the window to air it out and really only were there to sleep. The pool door was unable to be unlocked with our key, but a staff member helped and let us into the pool.
- 5/5
Breakfast wasnt the greatest. We couldnt even finish the coffee or juice we poured. Room and facilities were great, bed was very comfortable. No easy guide menu on the tv so was a little annoying to scroll through for a movie or show before bed.
- 5/5
The customer service was absolutely phenomenal. Every single employee was helpful, kind, and went above and beyond to take care of us. From checking in, recommending food/entertainment, greeting us, and just every encounter was positive. Great location!!
- 3/5
Shower curtain wouldn’t stay put so water was splashing out on the wall and floor, part of ceiling was coming down due to moisture, walls in shower were moldy, and shower head was very dirty. The rest of our room was clean and staff was friendly
- 4/5
Property was clean and the staff were very nice. Close walking distance to eateries and shopping.
- 4/5
Fantastic location right in downtown Bend. The hotel is quiet, clean and had everything we needed. Some of the furnishings are a little outdated but the bed is comfortable and the shower was nice. They do charge $10 per day for parking, which we knew in advance and given the fact that we didn’t have to drive much due to property location I didn’t mind. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
The kids loved the pool, and the rooms were nice. What made our stay was how helpful and nice the staff were. Our hire car broke down and they were only too happy to help and accommodate us. Would definitely stay here again!!
- 3/5
Asked for but never got cleaning service. Safe in room didn’t work asked for maintenance but never came to fix
- 4/5
We have stayed here several times over the years. You can't beat the location, right in downtown Bend. It is close to several great restaurants, shops, and the park. But it is getting a bit dated. The bathroom could use a deep clean. The shower also seemed very cramped, as it was narrow and had a glass door, rather than a curtain. The safe in our room was malfunctioning. The keypad glowed with a blue light all night (we had to drape a towel over it to let us sleep), and it beeped randomly, starting at 6:00 a.m. The bed was comfortable.
- 3/5
Great location but needs a facelift and update.
