The pool and music at sunset was magical! The food is very overpriced and they don’t have enough plastic wine glasses in stock which makes no sense for a room that is 400-500 a night. The beds are nice and rooms were clean! Overall good time and short 25 min walk to the beach!

The location offers the best sunset and sunrise view, free breakfast and it’s close to beaches too.

The view from our balcony was beautiful but no privacy from the other balconies. The room was average at best, very hot upon arrival and multiple outlets didn’t work. The water pressure from the bathroom sink was pathetic. The pool was very cloudy all week, either a result of improper water chemistry or filtration. Eat breakfast elsewhere.

It was right in the marina where our boat club was located so that was convenient. Room was clean and balcony was nice. Didn’t like that we weren’t able to have a late check out or that that you have to pay to use the bicycle, unlike other places we’ve stayed at.

Rooms are very comfortable, family friendly as well as quiet and convenient for business travel. Staff are always friendly, engaging and accommodating. Well designed modern and clean facility even with the amount of traffic. The breakfast was so good that there was a ton of people who either stayed to eat or came in. This caused bottlenecks in the line and food to be unavailable for a small time period. Some cups and utensils were also unavailable. Also there wasn’t a microwave in the room to heat up other meals we had.

Location is nice. Room was clean and had large bathroom. Nice bar area and free breakfast. We moved to another hotel after one night because there is almost no place to store your belongings. 3 dresser drawers to share with 8 days worth of clothes. Smallest closet we've ever seen. Could maybe hang 5 pieces of clothing, but the iron is attached to the wall in front of this small area making it almost worthless. I guess all rooms are like this according to staff. Also no safe for valuables.

Was a great stay!..would definitely stay again

Most everything? All handicap parking spots are the farthest from the entrance of the building, the water pressure in the shower was a four on a scale of 10 and this is the second floor for water pressure, being on the causeway 1 mile from the beach makes it extremely hard to exit and enter the hotel. There are no stop lights and people will not let you cross the road to go into town or to the beach.

The room was very clean and comfortable but we had a few issues. The front desk said they would notify us when the room was ready but failed to do so. The coffee maker in the room did not work. They replaced it. The conditioner in the shower was empty. They replaced it. The breakfast buffet was not maintained well. Many items were empty or close to empty and there were no plates. There were 30 minutes or so left to serve. The beverages were placed in the beginning of the line. Everyone had to set down their juice several times to serve themselves and then carry the beverage through the line. It would be much better for the drinks to be at the end. In all, maintaining the buffet line and coffee should be better. Upon getting ready to check out, we found a small black bug located on an article of clothing. Not knowing if it was a bed bug, we took it to the front desk. She said she would look into it. We checked out, left, and most likely will not return.

We had a wonderful time. The staff at the restaurant/ bar were great and attentive. The pool could use some cleaning, but everything is clean.

The breakfast was included and had a good choice of hot and cold options. The location was excellent just across the Manatee Ave bridge from AMI. The pool wasn’t huge but we spent most of time at the AMI beaches and chilled by the pool in the evening when it was a bit quieter. The outdoor seating area was very nice overlooking the marina. The hotel is a bit outdated and needs some attention. We chose the hotel initially because of the location and reviews. It definitely wouldn't be my choice again. The breakfast was not good at all. Staff didn't speak unless spoken to first. There was only one working elevator during our stay. Take my word, there are better options.

The hotel itself was great, nice staff,beautiful rooms. The only problem was staff shortages Saturday and Sunday Mother’s day weekend at the pool/bar. Bartender did not know menu for drinks, did not know correct ingredients and a 2 hour wait for food on Saturday, no pool service at all on Mother’s day. But hotel was clean, staff friendly and a great location, this was our 5th time at property and our only bad experience.

Only one ice machine worked I was on the 6th floor had to go to the 2nd floor to get ice there are 2 elevators one was broken so it was a 15 minute wait to get on the elevator the room was nice the pool area was nice the cocktail server at the pool was slow had to wait 25 minutes to get my change other than that is was nice.

The pool was amazing, the bar and restaurant staff went above and beyond. No need to even leave the resort!

Breakfast was chaotic at best. They put the plates in the middle of the buffet instead of the beginning so people are constantly cutting in line reaching over others to get a plate. The 2 elderly women running it were very slow to respond to any requests n seemed overwhelmed and out of it. No cups for juice, the main items, bacon, potatoes were not replenished, forks ran out. Nobody behind the bar to assist. Its like the staff was actively hiding during that busy time. Pool service is slow and they add a generous tip your bill after you cant find the server n give up n leave the pool area. Elevator not in service so constant wait n line to get in the one working Elevator.

Front desk staff often seemed bored or disinterested. Not too helpful. The coffee, breakfast bar and snack station in Lobby were not well monitored. Empty tray with crumbs sat by coffee carafes for a day. Breakfast Buffet was very good but dishes, silverware and some food items were not maintained or restocked. Buffet staff not always present to request assistance.

I love this Hotel and stay here every time I visit Anna Maria Island. It is less than a mile drive to Manatee Beach. The views from the hotel are gorgeous!

Good for what I needed

We wanted a self parking hotel so we could leave frequently without getting valet so this was great as well as a great location. The hotel has a community feel with staff being very friendly. Breakfast is included.

We loved this hotel. It's located right before the bridge to anna maria island and there's a natural cove behind it that's a marina. If you get a marina view room you have a beautiful view of the gulf and anna maria island. Also, there was a large manatee living in the marina while we were there, and that was pretty cool.

Staff was super friendly, room was clean and comfortable, pool area was beautiful, and breakfast was very good! I would definitely stay here again!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful, although room service was a bit underserved and we went a few days without any clean towels or trash removal. The breakfast buffet was also depleted fairly quick and utensils and plates were scarce.

Not up to the standards of other Margaritaville properties. Air conditioning did not cool in main area. Bathroom floor was filthy and bathroom smelled. Furniture was stained. Had a room on the Tiki Bar side and we could hear the banging from the music through the walls, thank goodness the music ended at 10 p.m. Not worth $300 per night. One positive are the Mararitaville bath products!!

The property was beautiful! The pool and Tiki Bar were so much fun to return to after a day exploring. The room was comfortable and the balcony was a plus. The view from every angle was amazing. The staff worked hard to make our stay relaxing.

It's a wonderful hotel with a great view, excellent service, and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is incredible and varied—we loved it so much. My only complaint was the cleanliness; I found some hairs in the bathtub, which I suppose could happen, but I wish they were more thorough. The hotel was very crowded—I don't know if that was the reason—but it's just a minor issue.

I would definitely without hesitation. return to this hotel. The customer service was fantastic.

Our original accommodations on the island were canceled last minute and this was a great, budget friendly location that we were able to book last minute. Room was clean and comfortable and location was good- with the ability to get to most places easily. Traffic can be bad in the area but hotel was a good alternative if you can’t find an affordable place to stay on island.

Lots of barking dogs and screaming kids on the weekend. Would recommend weekday stays for sure.

The property was in an excellent location. It was clean and had a nice, large pool. Breakfast was definitely beyond the normal continental breakfast provided by typical hotels. We’d definitely stay here again.

The location is perfect if you’re planning on the beach. It’s about a mile away if you want a cheap Uber or a great walk over the bridge if you like walking. Hotel has a great view of the water. Total win

En route to my trip here, the engine of my car suffered catastrophic damage leaving me having to tow my car and never making it to this property. Because it was around 11am the day I was supposed to check in, I was unable to do anything in Expedia to cancel or change my reservation. When I attempted to contact the property they left me on hold for over 15 minutes. When I explained my situation they said “Sorry it’s a 48 hour cancellation policy, and you booked through Expedia, we can’t help”. I contacted Expedia and the travel insurance I purchased in hopes they would be able to help in this one time situation and had no luck there either. Matter of fact Expedia also tried to contact this property multiple times on my behalf and could not get in touch with the property manager. So basically I paid around $400 for a hotel I never even checked into or stayed at. 0% customer service, very disappointing

Clean and convenient. Suiten layout was not the best as bathroom could only be accessed through main bedroom. Bathroom had only one hook to hang towels and no other hooks in rooms. Shower curtain was too short and shower head could not be angled so water sprayed onto bathroom floor.

Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and efficient, location of hotel was fantastic. Pool couldn't have been better! Morning coffee was tolerable, but back veranda was perfect to relax and start the day. Definitely would stay again and recommend to others.

Front desk was very nice and the breakfast buffet was good. The only issue is that it is in the room to the side of the restaurant and they place the plates in the middle of the line so everyone is knocking in to each other. Placement of plates on either end would be more helpful and/or a sign for navigation through the line so people are not bumping in to each other. There needs to be fast replacement of food as well - when we wnet though the line, many of the items were empty or almost empty.

We booked this resort very last minute when our current amenities were a massive fail. We checked in immediately and were greeted by the most genuine and kind gentleman at 11pm! The pool was just the right size and heated, our view was spectacular, and room was clean. What more could we ask for? We had lunch and a few drinks one day poolside, never waited at all for elevators, and parking was always available steps from the entrance. The included breakfast was worth waking up for, my kids (20, 14, & 9) devoured each morning! Fabulous experience. We frequent Ana Maria and will look into this resort first for future visits.

Nice place. Conveniently located close to the beach. Restaurant bext door is awesome. Blackened triple tail meal is one of the best meals I've ever had.

Four of my girlfriends had a visit and enjoyed two of the rooms here. The breakfast which was complementary was nice. The staff here was more than pleasant. The room was clean and plenty of space.

An incredibly friendly staff. The room was clean and the bathroom large. The bed and pillows were so comfortable - top of the line. Free breakfast was good. The location was great, just over the bridge from the island, overlooking the Anna Maria Sound. We watched a beautiful sunset from the harbor outside the hotel. We had a great stay.

Room was too small to have 2 queen beds. The one nearer the window had the AC unit protruding into the room leaving insufficient space to fit My leg. The opposite bed had only a few more inches clearance. Should have single king bed

Rooms are half cleaned and not up to par. Stains that look like blood on the curtains. If you stand back from the sinks you can see a black dirt/mold ring at the top. Drain in bathroom has mold and stinks back of shower had hair and dirt because it had not been rinsed out. Room smells bad. When you walk in you are hit with old beer, dog, and a stuffy old smell. This “resort” that is simply a motel collecting an extra fee needs some serious upkeep. Tiles broken in the lobby. Even one in the elevator that had a wash rag taped down to fill. Crappy pillows. The bar, bar staff and restaurant are wonderful though. Will question another Margaritaville stay.

My only complaint was the housekeeping came around 9 a.m. and knocked on our door before we were up/out of our room. I would recommend making housing keeping come AFTER 11 a.m. which is the check out time.

We enjoyed our accommodations and the breakfast. It was a quick drive to Anna maria island. The winter windstorm took the power out on much of the island and most of the island was closed. I will have to return when weather is ideal.

Clean room, nice view, fun atmosphere, along with kind and helpful staff. We didn’t eat breakfast, but heard it is great! Just a couple of things to note, there are no microwaves in the room, no tub in our room, and no hot tub by the pool. There is bar service by the pool, but a walk up Tiki Bar would have been great. The restaurant next door is adjoined, but you have to enter it through a little door and there is a gate. No biggie really. All in all a good stay.

This hotel was clean and well operated, close to the barrier island beaches. The breakfast is above average with extra touches like frittatas, fresh fruit and juices. The pool was inviting and staff were friendly and helpful. What great value with no unpleasant surprises like huge parking fees or resort fees. We even found two complementary waters in our room! Keep up the good work Compass!

We arrived late, the staff was very welcoming. We were greeted immediately and check in was quick and easy. The rooms was nice and clean. I personally wasn't a fan of the shower, it's just cold while you're showering with no door or half wall to close it off. Overall very pleasant stay.

We booked our stay through Expedia after reading the reviews and checking the area. Name recognition was another reason. The staff was knowledgeable about the area and knew how to treat their guests. Breakfast was a big plus. Most places we go advertise free breakfast which generally is a disappointment. Not so at the Compass. Perfectly cooked scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon potatoes, and spinach frittatas. I almost forgot the breads, muffins, oatmeal, assorted fruit, coffee and tea. Fit for a king. Our room has a king bed and a large bathroom with a shower. The room was spotless and it smelled fresh. Not artificially fresh either. Parking is available in the front and on the side of the building. If the weather was warm we would have spent a lot of time at the pool.

The hotel offered clean rooms, comfortable beds, and very friendly staff. However, the breakfast experience could be improved. The staff in the breakfast area did not seem to monitor the stations closely, and many items were almost empty, including fruits, eggs, cottage cheese, cheese and deli plates, as well as utensils and cups.

Our balcony room overlooks the water so we were able to see the manatees and dolphins from our room. The walls in the bathroom could have been cleaned better. Other than that everything was wonderful and extremely clean. Dawn at the breakfast restaurant was amazing. She sent us to top notch areas we’ve never seen, very helpful and so happy and friendly

The only minor negatives was the rooms facing the marina have no sun direct on the balcony [possible this could be a seasonal thing in December], more as the views are stunning and it would have been nice to utilise the balcony more. The shower [or strength of the shower] was adequate but not great. Also on the room size [for a family on 3] it would have been nice to ha e a family suite available as the room was a little cramped. Other than the above the stay was fantastic

Cleanliness. I get good help is hard to find these days. But, do you have a housekeeping manager? Do you have someone who inspects the rooms on occasion? Little things make a big difference. The floor of the shower was filthy. Yes it’s white, yes it’s textured. So is mine in my home. But it’s pure white only cleaning it once every couple weeks. I wiped up some lotion that fell on floor and the tissue was black. The caulking around tub is stained. Appears bathroom gets cursory attention.

Front desk and breakfast staff were helpful and kind. Room was excellent with big balcony and comfortable bed. Pool was great- warm enough to use in December. We enjoyed the proximity to AMI and the reserves for hiking/biking. Hot breakfast was very tasty with frittata and fresh berries as a bonus. Amazing perfectly cooked bacon. Coffee was excellent, too. We will come back!

Overall really nice stay.

We stayed seven nights total. Extended our stay by an additional night from this original booking. We chose to have service for the room two times during our stay but they only changed our bed linens once in the seven days. They also did not provide a total restock of toiletries on the second service and we ran out of toilet paper. I have stayed at many hotels over many years and was surprised by not having a complete reset of all of the expected toiletries and services. The breakfast set up is too small and is not staged well for efficiency. The plates and silverware are in places that do not make it easy for the flow of service and there is no instructions on how it should flow so people are just everywhere and going in all different directions. To further complicate the flow, the hot entré dishes are covered and require removing a lid at each option to serve yourself, there were five morning hot food options, five lids to remove and replace each time. Though we appreciate an option of breakfast included with a stay. I would suggest posting an entry and exit layout for the breakfast nook and heat lamps in place of lids on your entré options to help with your patron flow and ease of this self service option. All of this made for a chaotic breakfast experience when we are looking to relax and enjoy ourselves on vacation.

I loved the view, the atmosphere, the music they played at the pool, the service. I will definitely be back. The only negative to me was the balconies were so close together. It ended up not being a problem for me but if other people would have been out it would have felt uncomfortable. Also, I did not feel there were as many channel options as I would have liked. These are only slight negatives. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and if I could have afforded it, I would have stayed longer. my balcony overlooked the boats and I could see the water. I never left the hotel to even go to the beach. It was peaceful and I felt very safe.

Some hotels putting those near ice machines. With larger balcony on one bedrooms, please have 4 chairs. Dog friendly but needs specific area for dog walk. Food was good, bartenders very friendly, hotel clean and fresh, mattresses nice. So overall, a very nice stay and a good price. Enjoyed the view over the marina.

The rooms are well furnished and spacious with a large shower in a modern bathroom. USB chargers next to bed. We had a standard king with no balcony, but if I visit again I will choose a balcony room as it has a nice outlook. Pool area was clean and nice. Due to the time of year it was quiet but a really nice hotel. However you may need to drive/uber to Anna Maria as the free trolley stop is a mile away, and you are not allowed to park at Publixs, so we parked at CVS next door.

The Compass Margaritaville Anna Maria Sound is good value. The construction and fittings are high quality, and there is a relaxed vibe. The food at the Floridays grill is good.

Dawn in food services, Cynthia at the bar, Kathy at the front desk were all great. However, Suzie was the star of the show! She was like my personal concierge and she did so everytime I saw her.

Don’t waste your time or money! Room was awful and looked like it was put together bye a child! Closet was very small and to top that off the iron was secured to the wall right in the way of the already limited space to hang clothes! Baseboards were dirty and pieced together poorly and the caulk was five shades different color than there paint. Door to the porch had to be opened and shut with much force, and the bed and linens weren’t changed from the last guests! Had to request cleaner linens! For the price paid it isn’t worth it! Staff was very unfriendly at check-in and restaurant food was bland at best!

We stay at the compass Hotel as much as possible. This is the first time that we have had a room that was very dirty. The shower still pan was chipped and dirty and scum around the bottom of the shower. The baseboards throughout the entire room and bathroom were absolutely filthy which is not what we are accustomed to at the compass Margaritaville. However the sheets and beds were clean as well as the furniture and Floors. We did each experience exceptionally soft beds and not in a good way we each had to sleep on the opposite side of each bed for any type of firmness they should change these out when they get a chance. The staff however was friendly and exceptionally helpful each and every time we came in contact with any of the personnel.

Has a great expereice at the "Compass Margaritaville Hotel" Anna Marie Sound. Staff extremely friemdly and outgoing, social. Tended to my needs while staying on the property. The property is well situated to many things to go and see in the area. I recommend staying here at this property you will not be disappointed.

The whole property was exceptionally clean. Our room was huge! We did have a loud noise coming from our air conditioner but halfway through the night my hubby banged on it and it thankfully stopped. The shower nozzle was also a bit wonky too. But overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even saw manatees from our balcony.
