It was okay The wifi stopped working late night when I would have needed it for work. I went down to ask the reception. They said there is nothing they can do and that I could call a support number. I called the number but there was no answer. I went downstairs again to ask if there is anything they can do and also to ask what they are going to do about this issue. They said they would "file a report". In the morning when checking out the receptionist asked if everything was ok. I told her about the wifi problem and the fact that the nobody answered at the support number. The receptionist did not say anything. I have also not heard back anything from them. I doubt any reports were actually filed. This is a very expensive hotel. A) the wifi should work. If it does not, they should somehow compensate. B) the customer service around the issue was terrible.

Great stay

Room wasn't ready initially, but we got the check-in and parking done and were texted as soon as the room was available. Spacious room, good black out curtains, comfy bed, functional TV, spacious bathroom with decent shower and plenty of towels. It did get quite noisy at 2:30 am in our hallway as there were wedding parties returning from their celebrations. We didn't do anything about it because you can't make drunk happy people shut up, you can only make them drunk angry people. Breakfast was included but we didn't try it as we had other brunch plans elsewhere.

6th floor ice make was down. No sign posted to notify customers. Room 616 bath faucet was completely loose. Property maintenance needs improvement.

This is the nicest hotel I have stayed at in a long time. Everything is clean and new. The room was spacious and comfortable. Great breakfast, constantly monitored for freshness. I have a new favorite place to stay in Champaign-Urbana.

Room had issue with air conditioning. Front desk was helpful and moved me to another room where the a/c is fine. They also comped a water bottle for the inconvenience. Appreciate that!

No breakfast

Parking garage was stressful to enter for a large long SUV- very tight. Breakfast not included , no pool and less nice than expected. Not as nice as the Hyatt place in another town.

We got in late the first night of our stay, tired and ready for a shower, and bed. My kids understand how to be quiet and considerate. Like I said, we travel a lot. With that said, ten minutes into unloading our bags and getting situated, we get a call about a noise complaint. The lady below us said we were being loud. We were confused because no one was jumping, running, or horse-playing. The gentleman at the front desk told us she had complained prior to our arrival and is apparently a light sleeper, so we asked for a different room. The gentleman said that wouldn’t be necessary. An hour later, everyone is literally in bed, and we hear banging on the floor of our room. She was banging on her ceiling. It woke up our kids and startled them. Once again, we got a call about being loud. I don’t know how, because we were all asleep except for my wife who had went downstairs to wash a load of clothes. This time the front desk clerk gave us another room. We had to load all our stuff back up and move even though we were not being loud whatsoever. He then tried giving us a room below those same people. I refused that room, so he sent us on the other side of the hotel. That new rooms air conditioner didn’t work, it was hot and sticky, and the hot water kept going out. At least in the first room the ac was cold and the water was hot. Never again.

condition of the room was not good. carpet was bad enough to be a tripping hazard. Furniture was very worn/chipped

Like always the early check in has been so helpful. My wife and I smile every time we arrive in Champaign on Amtrak and walk over to the Hyett. We’re so excited when we are greeted by Aisha and Amanda we know they we are in good hands and with family.

Every thing it was perfect. Clean welcoming. You did have to pay for parking I didn’t like that and restaurants near by were closed at nine. But beautiful hotel.

There is a charge for breakfast but it’s a pretty good selection of items, including bacon, that many places don’t have any more.

I wanted to give a special thanks to Aisha the Assistant GM and Amanda. Both of these ladies were amazing host. Both my wife and I were so touched by their kindness and amazing customer service. We look forward to our next visit. My wife and I want to also send a special shout out to the amazing Hispanic lady who took our rooom number down at breakfast. She is a very helping and kind lady.

We enjoyed our stay and would happily return. The room was clean and comfortable, and we had no complaints. Although we didn’t stay for breakfast, we did grab coffee for the road. The breakfast options looked great, and we’d love to try them next time.

This hotel has a hidden fee of $11 for breakfast per person. This was the nastiest food ever. The water also doesn't get hot in the shower and the water pressure is very light. I would not stay here for $145 per night ever again

Room was clean, bed was nice, however, TV didn’t work. Called the front desk to ask them to fix it around 8:30 PM. They said unfortunately they didn’t know how. The bar restaurant that said it was attached was not really attached and their drinks were Poorly made, and extremely overpriced.

The room was clean and smelled fresh! All amenities were restocked.

What stood out the most for my wife, daughter, mom and I was the amazing kindness and support that we received from Amanda at the front desk. Both my family and I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many hotels and Amanda wins the trophy for being the BEST of the best. Hyatt has a Diamond in the Rough working for them!

The place is a little run down. There are zero USB ports in the room. Getting charged for parking and breakfast. Every place we have stayed in the past offers free parking and free breakfast. Won't be staying there again.

Very good service, the night clerk was very patient with my ol lady who had one too many Long Island ice teas. I think his name was Mike but very courteous.

The first room we were in, i went to draw the blackout curtain and the whole curtain came crashing down on me. We let the front desk know and they quickly moved us to an identical room with a working shade. Everything seemed acceptable as far as cleanliness goes. I really appreciated how secure the building felt. (Room keys to use the elevators, etc) and the walking distance to nice restaurants. Also love the bar/restaurant connected to the hotel, and they were very accomodating with taking drinks back to our room (albeit pretty overpriced for the quality of wine, but the convenience of not having to drive or walk to a store makes it worthwhile.) All in all happy, the hotel wasnt anything extravagant but for the location its perfect

I have stayed at the Hyatt place downtown multiple times especially with my family coming down every year as I went to school at UIUC. This weekend I experienced an unpleasant experience, It immediately felt as thought the service was lackluster and the overall vibe of the hotel was not as welcoming as usual. Throughout our stay we noticed other minor things that contributed, when having an issue with the tv at night the front desk belittled my issue telling me to resolve in the morning (which would be after I checked out) and insisting that I must be doing something wrong as he saw someone streaming to a tv downstairs and assured me it was possible instead of offering help. After that we noticed a big downgrade in what used to be complimentary breakfast. We now had to pay for a breakfast that felt less quality than it used to be during prior stays. After speaking with the front desk further, we found out there was recently new management that had taken over and all I have to say is it is very noticeable from a consumers point of view and not in a positive way…

the room Hotels.com showed me and I thought i had booked was changed without notice. the staff and stay was great but i felt a little bit baited and switched by Hotels.com

Very clean and nice staff but they shouldn’t advertise a pool if it’s been closed since covid. Also $15 a day for parking is a little outlandish. Finally, they didn’t even have a waffle or breakfast sausage, but they charge $11 per person for breakfast.

It seems the property was a good property at some time in the past. The rooms and the facilities are still good but the staff and service are not good - staff and policies are quite rude. Breakfast is not worthy of Hyatt brand. They advertise 24x7 The Market but it is barely stocked. They advertise The Placery but it's been shut down.

Staff at the front desk are very quick to help with check-in/out and all other inquiries. Appreciated their kindness.

I was woken up at 8:20 from housekeeping when I called the front desk the girl was rude and said it was all my fault for not putting the sign out. Check out is at 12 why would I expect the housekeeping come at 8:20am. Will never stay here again!

This hotel was perfect for our first stay in Champaign. Loved how close it is to restaurants and shopping. The room was spotless and very comfortable.

Love this place! This is our 3rd time staying. Fabulous hotel! Lots within walking distance. Never like to pay for parking or breakfast but that is typical with all downtown hotels. Its worth the price. Stay there again in a heartbeat!

Parking is $15, found that out a week later after the charge hit my cc and I had to call to find out what it was, had been told during my stay parking was free. EVERYTIME my husband or I walked passed the front desk to go leave, someone at the desk asked our room number..it was very annoying and strange. We only stayed one night, room was fine, but I'll consider another place next time I stay in champaign.

This hotel is located near restaurants and close to the Amtrak station, making it easy to access. It's also nice that it has a restaurant on site for breakfast.

The area around the property looked good but there was alot of siren that night, we counted 6 different times so that was a little alarming. the hotel was secure though so that was nice. I had to call the next day for questions about a bill and whoever answered the phone was rude and it sounded like it was because i had booked on hotels.

Was a noisy room with Friday night performance somewhere around the hotel after 10 pm, very loud. Breakfast was warm and hearty, with hot oatmeal, fried egg and fruit. The staff asked me why I needed an extra box of facial tissue, a bit awkward.

Stayed for the second time. Was not offered an upgrade and honestly have no idea about the amenities. Did not offer any information on local shops or recommended restaurants. Not very personable. May be looking for different places.

Love staying at this hotel. But from our last stay, from about a year ago,there is a mold inside the shower. No more breakfast included in the price, learned that only after booking.

We liked the location! It was great to be able to go out the front door and walk to restaurants and bars. The room was super clean and roomy.

The Good: The room was clean and comfortable and the free buffet breakfast was good. The Bad: The room technology needed updating. The room phone was too complicated to even call front desk. I had to use my cell phone! The TV itself was very old and the cable offerings were abysmal. The remote was difficult to use (no real menu option - you had to input channel number into remote! I expected a lot better from Hyatt. When I spoke to front desk about my difficulties with the room phone and TV, the front desk person kindly offered to credit me for parking - I didn’t know Hyatt was even charging me for parking! Hyatt also advertised it had 3 EV chargers (two Tesla chargers and one generic charger) for guest vehicles, but upon arrival, it turned out Hyatt only had two Tesla chargers - no generic EV charger at all.

Great location if you need to be downtown. We were able to walk to dining. Not many businesses open in the area during week days. Did not go to breakfast in hotel. Preferred to walk to Mad Goat coffee. Loud at night. Cars racing and music bumping.

Staff that checked us in wasn't friendly ( we had stayed here before but this is the first time we have encountered. I think he became annoyed when we checked in while he was eating his dinner on the table beside the service desk. Every time i asked him a question, his answer make me feel like i am stupid. Definitely not expecting from hyatt personnel!

The set the bar very high in everything I have worked for Hyatt and with Hyatt so my expectations are always very high They blow them away. All the staff are excellent especially Dean. This is my third stay at this Hotel and many more to come

Great for a visit to UIUC

Terribly disappointing experience with Hyatt, which has otherwise been a great place to stay. Inquiries about my booking went unanswered by Hyatt staff, which caused an error in the date of my arrival/check-out.

I stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend. When she noticed that my wife appeared to be walking with difficulty from an earlier fall off-property, Aisha at the Front Desk immediately brought out a wheelchair for our use. This was wonderful proactive caring behavior exhibited by the staff of Hyatt Place.

What was terrible- no hot water for the first 24 hrs. So no bath, shower or warm water to even wash face or hands. Called front desk - yes we know. No one has hot water a boiler broke and they’ve been trying to fix it. Faucet in sink sprayed water all over - no matter how slowly you lifted lever. Faucet connection also leaked. No offer to make the stay right beyond “ I’ll leave a note for the manager “ never heard from them. Extremely disappointing for any hotel, let alone a Hyatt!

This was my first stay at this property, and it will be my last. The hotel is dated/worn overal . There were several obvious stains in the carpet in my room and the halls. I had a horrendous asthma attack in the middle of the night that was most certainly triggered by something in the room and almost required a hospital visit. I have never had such an experience when traveling. The front desk staff allowed me to check out early but could not do anything to compensate for the condition of the room because the room was booked through Expedia. I emailed both managers and have yet to hear back. I was told the hotel is pet-friendly and that customers sometimes do not disclose that they have pets in the room to avoid a cleaning charge, so rooms are not cleaned as they should be. My room smelled slightly of urine, so it's likely there'd been a dog/cat in the room that triggered the attack. Also, the hotel says they have a bar, which they do, but it's a very small counter next to check -in. Don't count on a traditional hotel bar. There are better hotels in the area including the Marriott and I Hotel.
