Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. However, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the breakfast options and the lack of free coffee in the lobby.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Limited and expensive breakfast options
- Lack of free coffee in the lobby
- 3/5
Staff was very helpful but bathroom had no fan and elevators were old.
- 1.5/5
We did not receive breakfast vouchers. Paid over $400 for room and no breakfast! Paying over $400 a night we would have expected at least to get breakfast! After check in it was hard to find anyone to help who knew any answers to questions.
- 3/5
Charge you for parking after paying $200 a night for a standard room.

It has food on the property Love love the staff

Did not eat there. Room was clean. Pillows and sheets did not smell like the sweat of another guest, which is quite common in many cases. Check in was simple. Lots of handicap parking spots. Grounds were nice. Having to pay to park at a hotel is absurd, but seems to be the norm in Chapel Hill. Tiny elevator. Bed was very hard. Wya overpriced for what it is.

Location was perfect and walkable to the Friday Center. Room was quiet with a comfy bed. Will return!
- 5/5
My room was clean and bed was very comfortable. The shower was large with perfect water pressure. The Starbucks and Bistro in the lobby were a perfect start to every day!
- 4/5
The menu could have been more variable.
- 4/5
Pleasant stay overall clean and comfortable room, no microwave no usb ports, annoying pay scan for parking especially when one is tired and it’s dark.

Exceptional
- 4/5
Other than issues with the Wifi (they really overcomplicate it) our stay was very good and the hotel was in great condition.
- 3/5
Offer complimentary coffee in lobby prior to 10:00 am. Plenty of parking but charged $6.50 a night. Marriott can do better!!

Not super clean or well kept
- 1/5
Room attendant not available, couldn't turn off A/C fan, requested 2 blankets (one had yellow stain - urine or semen?), hand to ask for towels as only 2 towels and 2 washclothes for 3 pax, only 1/2 roll of toilet paper for 3 pax, 2 night stay. All things, except for the blankets required going to front desk, no one available to deliver to room, when bartender was asked for a small cup of ice, you thought we were asking for the moon (very negative response). NEVER, EVER using this Marriott nor any other based on this experience.
- 4/5
The hotel was in a great location, staff were kind and helpful, and the room was comfortable. I think the price was a little high for a dated room. Door to bathroom didn't stay open, there was no bag in the trash can, and I was frustrated with having to pay for parking given the price of the room. I wish they'd consider just adding parking to the reservation, as it was annoying to do so at check out and have to use a QR code to pay with a separate credit card. It was very loud when people shut their doors and noisy at times in the hallway.
- 2.5/5
When I checked in, the bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke. That went after a while, but not a good experience. If I hadn't spread my things all over the room first, I would have asked for another room. The breakfast was a disaster. I ordered a cooked breakfast with 25 minutes to go before my ride, and it was not even delivered in that time. So I got a refund, and left hungry and disappointed. I actually asked the employee if it could be done in time, and she said yes, then let me down.
- 5/5
The room was very clean and the property was in a convenient location. Very friendly, helpful staff.
- 4.5/5
Quiet and secluded feeling yet close to the university The regular location for dinner at the hotel was closed— just a timing issue with my stay.

She went out of her way to find the perfect room to meet my needs. She was very kind and friendly. She is an asset to your cooperation. Please make sure and let her know that her kindness did not go unnoticed.
- 4/5
Stayed two nights for a college visit. Just about 10 minutes from Chapel Hill. Hotel room and bathroom were updated and clean. Staff was friendly. Comfortable beds and pillows! One downside was the AC unit wasn’t working properly and our room was pretty stuffy and hot. Staff said the maintenance comes only once a week so it could not be repaired during our stay.
- 5/5
Lean room nice lobby
- 5/5
The hot tub was broken that’s the only reason I give it 3stars bc I got it for the hot tub
- 4/5

I tried to cancel and no one returned my call or email to do so. The storm impacted our travel.
- 5/5
I travel here for medical reasons. The hotel is clean. The staff are great. It is quiet which is important to me so that I can rest. I will be here again in 6 months.
- 5/5
Check in was so nice and front desk was so professional and sweet! Room was clean and comfy!
- 4/5
2 Things-I don't like that...
- 4/5
2 Things-I don't like that you have to pay for parking, and that there was no microwave in the rooms
- 3/5
The property was nice and the room was clean and well apponted. However, we booked it because of the indoor pool and hot tub and found out at check in that the hot tub wasn't working. We also woke the day of checkout to a hot water outage in the entire hotel so we were unable to shower. The person at the front desk was very apologetic about both and said we would be rewarded points but that, unfortunately, doesn't change the experience. Another minor thing, but annoying nontheless, was the bedding. It wasn't large enough for the bed so we were constantly pulling it to one side or the other. Otherwise, the hotel was in a convenient location and was generally well kept. I would stay here again if the items noted were corrected.
- 5/5
The location was ideal. This hotel is tucked away in a pristine setting. The staff exceeded our expectations and greeted us with true southern hospitality. The rooms were very clean and stocked with plenty of towels. We will definitely be staying here every time we travel to Chapel Hill.
- 2/5
I really liked that we were offered water when we arrived and that there was a large selection of breakfast items to choose from The only things that I didn’t like was paying to park and we did not have hot water so could not shower
- 5/5
Danielle goes out of her way to accommodate all the demanding guests. Trying to get everyone in their rooms early! She is a real gem!
- 5/5
The staff at check in were great. Very thoughtful about placing us in a quiet hallway.
- 5/5
Excellent stay! Friendly and helpful staff. great amenities w/bar and cafe on sight. on sight parking affordable. comfy beds, very clean rooms. Stand out hotel in Chapel Hill
- 1/5
I didnt stay there, can I get a credit or something? I booked the wrong area of NC, thinking I would be in Charlotte but i booked near Chapel Hill which is 3 hours away from where i needed to be. I would like if a manger could at least give a credit to stay at another Marriot, instead of 300 for 2 nights down the drain, thanks
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and professional.
- 5/5
Very nice!
- 2/5
When we arrived were told The hot tub was broken and they did not know when it would be repaired. Turned out it was not working for the length of our stay.
- 3/5
A bad start to our stay was learning that they now charge for parking which was not the case the several times we had previously stayed there. There had been no indication there would be a charge for parking which made this a surprise, "gotcha" fee that is really dishonest. It was especially annoying because you have to pay for the parking by a separate process which complicates an otherwise smooth check-in process and makes it take longer. Whatever revenue they gain from parking they will more than lose from future stays by people who get annoyed by this dishonest treatment.
- 5/5
Robert at the front desk was courteous, professional and kind. Exceptional. Room is clean and quiet. I will come back.
- 5/5
Nice room
- 5/5
Clean room, especially beds.
- 5/5
Stayed here for a conference. Comfortable bed and nice location.
- 5/5
The hotel appeared to be clean, well-appointed and convenient to my destination. The staff at the front desk were professional and welcoming.
- 4/5
My only complaint is that I feel like we are charged for stuff that we shouldn’t be charged for. Parking? Used to be free for rewards members, but apparently that has been discontinued. No free coffee, only Starbucks at the cafe.
- 4/5
Aesthetics from lobby to room very nice We paid a little extra for mobility impaired room and didnt get it. Regular tub. No barrier free shower. No rails in bathroom. Not helpful / Not happy.
- 5/5
Great location for the conference, clean and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staffs here are nice, the breakfast is delicious, rooms are big and quiet, and staff here are really nice as well.
- 5/5

- 5/5
The room was clean. The staff was great. The receptionists were very helpful and answered all our questions. The location was perfect for exploring the city. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
- 5/5
Great beds
- 5/5
The hotel was very clean and had everything that I needed. The only thing that I didn't like was having to pay for parking. I understand that, in the middle of a big city, parking is very hard to find, and it can be a big cost for a company but, in here, there were plenty of space available. It was not a gated or security watched parking so, why the extra fee?
- 5/5
The rooms were very clean and comfortable with convenient fridge (although no microwave but looked like one should've been the room) Staff was very polite and cheerful and the amenities were quite satisfying (especially the little convenience store inside the lobby)
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and very helpful!!
- 4/5
Very clean and quiet. My son enjoyed the pool. Hot tub was nice as well. It was a quick trip . Easy in and out . Only minor issue was you had to pay for parking by scanning a QR code and paying seperate. It could not just be included in the bill. Seems like a hassle for no reason. parking was plentiful
- 5/5
Everything was wonderful we love staying at this hotel the only thing i would have wanted to see was the pool and hot tub a little cleaner but Everything else was amazing
- 4/5
Nice Hotel, Nice area. However, unnecessarily property charges its guests for parking and its simply another money grab.
- 3/5
The rooms were average Marriott rooms. What is actually included in the price of the room is minimal. There was no complimentary coffee, so I bought 2 cups for about a total of $13 from Starbucks in the lobby. Parking is not included, even though it is not located in a city setting, just a regular parking lot. Only an indoor pool, that looked less than desirable. Fan in the bathroom didn’t work and this might be the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a Marriott. A small area is provided outside to hang out with a fire pit and a few chairs. Beds were fine but disappointed with parking and no complimentary coffee - also no microwave. Fell short of what I expect from Marriott, I will say check in was pretty fast and the front desk staff was friendly.
- 5/5
We were in town for a college visit. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, and breakfast was great. Would stay there again.
- 5/5
It was well kept and managed for a great experience.
- 5/5
Nice property and comfortable stay.
- 5/5
Customer service
- 5/5
Great experience.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 1/5
Non responsive staff. Surprise $20 parking fee.
- 5/5
I appreciated the quietness and onsite amenities ♥️♥️
- 5/5
The best customer service I’ve ever had at the bar , the bartender was amazing she’s was great at serving all her customers in a timely manner
- 4/5
Very clean & quiet room
- 5/5
After a terrible experience at my previous hotel, checking in to the Marriott Durham City Center was a huge relief. The evening front desk staff was incredibly kind, fast, and efficient he made the second part of my trip completely stress-free. Clean rooms, great amenities, and friendly staff all around. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
This is a very nice Marriott Hotel. Quiet, clean, short drive to downtown Chapel Hill and UNC Hospital and University. Harris Teeter grocery store and other shopping within 5 min. The staff is friendly and efficient. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe in the area of this hotel and enjoyed my stay very much.
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
excellent stay
- 3/5
Air conditioning is old under window units. Not central. No place to get food between 10 am & 5 pm! No shuttle to nearby restaurants! Very lacking in amenities. Shower only opens at far end. Therefore you have to Turn on cold water & jump out of the way.
- 5/5
Lovely all around, clean and luxurious, friendly staff, very safe
- 1/5
We woke up to construction noise around 8 am, an hour earlier than advertised on their website (although this information is not on Expedia)
- 5/5
Rooms were nice and clean. Happy stay
- 5/5
Friendly service and nice clean room
- 5/5
My stay was perfect. Smooth transaction.
- 5/5
Will definitely stay here again if I’m in the area again!!
- 5/5
Polite and responsive staff.
- 5/5
Very nice place. People were very friendly.
- 5/5
I stayed here to attend an appointment and it was a very enjoyable stay. I will return in the future.
- 5/5
The lady running the bar at happy hour on May 1st was rude and unfriendly. Not sure why she works in customer service. I don’t like the fact that they charge you to park at the hotel now. Makes no sense whatsoever. You pay to stay period.
- 5/5
The only downsides were that they charge for parking even though it is a pretty remote area & also not sure if it’s the usual but the pool closed at 6:30pm, which was a bummer.
- 5/5
Will stay again
- 5/5
everything was great. only thing I did not like was having to pay for parking. it was only 5.00 per day it wasn't about the money just the fact you had to pay and there is no where else you can park. other than that I would definitely stay there again
- 5/5
Convenient location, quiet and comfortable rooms. Building is under construction so workers in and off floors. Carpet in some areas are worn and dirty-likely due to work.
- 5/5
Very nice stay. Great amenities and comfortable bed. Safe area, convenient to stores and food. My only feedback for improvement is that the carpet in common areas/elevators looks really worn out and the furniture in room shows signs of use/stains. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
This property just started charging for parking. We have stayed here before and never been charged parking. They are located in a wooden area with a flat surface parking lot. Not sure why they are charging for parking in the middle of the woods. Very disappointed with this.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with nice lobby and pool. Rooms are large and spotless. Front desk was excellent.
- 4/5
Air conditioner was really loud.
- 5/5
Very nice stay even though I only stayed one night. Room was very clean and the staff was appropriately nice and pleasant.
- 2/5
Pool closes at 6:30! Ripoff parking fee of $10 plus $1.50 service charge! No free breakfast - but they will sell you a $6 bagel!
- 5/5
Very clean space, staff was very friendly and made sure we enjoyed every night while here in Chapel Hill, NC.. Danielle was amazing
- 5/5
$10 parking hard to understand.
- 3/5
We chose this property for the amenities. The pool and hot tub were not able to be used. Big bummer for our weekend getaway. Also lots of kids running around the hallways and outside unsupervised and loud!
- 3/5
The lobby puts on a big show, but the rooms were pretty underwhelming. I also booked this hotel 4 months in advance and specifically booked this one because it was one of the few in the area with an indoor hot tub and pool. When we got there, it was closed. When we asked the front desk they said that it was, “Just the time of year for the pool to be transitioned outside.” I can certainly understand that there are times pools will be closed for scheduled maintenance or even surprise unscheduled maintenance. But if it is going to be scheduled maintenance, I feel like they should have to put a note up in advance on the website. Feels misleading otherwise. The staff were so incredibly helpful. The service was great. They made it right and were very kind with what was honestly somewhat of a silly complaint. Grateful for the staff but was overall unimpressed with the hotel itself.
- 5/5
there was construction going on in some rooms
- 3/5
The room left a bit to be desired, it was not very clean, there was hair in the tub, the beds were barely made. The highlight was breakfast was included in the cost of the room, the onsite cafe is pretty good.
- 1/5
First room had steady faucet drip in shower, non-working refrigerator which we needed for insulin, no sound on tv. The pool is much smaller than photos represent with open lighting & heating vents over the pool, electrical hazard, whirlpool was green, tepid & hardly any jets. Breakfast bar is slow, employees rude, as was front desk person. They charge $10/night to park in their lot! I would not recommend this property to anyone!
- 5/5
Had a few issues, but they were very quick to make it right. Definitely the hotel. We will stay at when we come back.
- 5/5
The hotel was at a perfect location for a conference. Friendly staff, great service and well maintained.
- 4/5
Super convenient. Had to pay for parking and breakfast. Very comfortable room. Very clean.
- 2/5
Would not recommend this property. Not only is it somewhat dated, there is an $11.50/day parking fee. The first item on the list of amenities when I booked was “free parking” yet I had to pay $10/day plus a $1.50 service fee. This is a bait and switch and made the whole experience unpleasant. There were maybe 10-12 cars in the entire parking lot. It isn’t in an urban area with limited parking. What a scam. I contacted the hotel two weeks ago and have not received an answer. The management knows what they’re doing and refuses to address the lies about parking fees. Expedia should require this property to update its listing to the correct information so other travelers aren’t surprised by this useless charge, or remove the ability of this property to list itself on Expedia if it continues to lie.
- 4/5
Nice clean hotel I did not like having to pay for parking. It was an open lot. No gates, security, nothing! So what was I paying for? It was $10 a day and then a $1.50 fee?? So $11.50 for what??
- 1/5
Clean
- 5/5
The hotel was nice, clean, quiet and very close to the hospital. I will be returning.
- 5/5
They have that awful pay-to-park system. Because of that alone we may not stay here again. It's like being charged a fee to sit in a chair at a restaurant.
- 5/5
Overcharged for parking
- 3/5
Uncomfortable bed and pillows. No free coffee
- 4/5
Typical Marriott courtyard. Spacious rooms, comfortable bed, etc.
- 1/5
I did not stay here because there was no clean rooms available.
- 3/5
Pay for parking when there is plenty of it and a service fee on top? Pretty bad.
- 3/5
They have started charging for parking and it needs some work
- 4/5
I used to stay here when the rooms were less expensive. Ok, I understand. It's an ok place to stay if overpriced and you have no other choices. The breakfast isn't as good as it used to be. But the parking lot charging an extra fee to park when the hotel is not in an urban area or where parking scarce is just annoying and petty. QR codes posted everywhere make sure you don't forget to pay the additional fee. Don't forget! Get that code!
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Nice and quiet.
- 2/5
Day1: Had to have dead bug removed from My room. Day3: Also killed a bug crawling On wall.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
We had a great stay here! Our 1st time in North Carolina and we loved it
- 2/5
I thought for the money I paid that the service would have been better. The bathroom wasn’t clean I cleaned it myself housekeeping came in and only made the bed
- 5/5
We traveled with a college sports team and the staff were very supportive and friendly. The lobby was comfortable and the amenities were small but clean and convenient.
- 5/5
Nice hotel. Nice and clean room.
- 5/5
Convenient location, may be older however the rooms were very clean and staff extremely accommodating.
- 5/5
staff even assisted w/ Amazon delivery!
- 5/5
I thought the indoor pool and hot tub were a relaxing and enjoyable experience!
- 5/5
Super location for going to UNC Chapel Hill!
- 3/5
The air conditioning was not working/turned on in the halls on the floors or in the elevator, it was stifling hot. I told the front desk and the staff member said they were aware. He also said “ is the AC working in your room? That’s what you are paying for” I thought this was ridiculous to say. Next, the pool is not adequately maintained. No chemicals could be detected by smell and the water was yellow. I asked the front desk about this and I was told the pool chemicals were checked once a week. I am sure this doesn’t meet standards. The gym needs a mat to do floor work/sit ups. Both myself and another woman were not happy…it costs a minimum amount to provide this. There is a Starbucks in the lobby (awesome!) but which is open for maybe 3-4 hours in the mornings. The rooms were clean, the location was excellent for us. The beds were comfortable.
- 5/5
Lovely hotel, conveniently located next to the convention center. The room was fantastic. I do wish they carried the Turner Classic Movie channel (TCM), and it was frustrating that parking was not included. Otherwise a great stay.
- 5/5
Amazing stay! The staff members are friendly and helpful. It's also helpful to do laundry during my trip. I haven't had the chance to use the swimming pool or gym, but it's great to have the facility.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel.
- 4/5
Nice hotel, close to everything in Chapel Hill. Only problem was the A/C was loud when it ran. There was not much hot water for a morning shower. Prices at bar and Bistro were inflated but guess par for the course at a hotel. Great place, location, quiet.
- 5/5
Everything was great , nice stay , felt safe
- 5/5
Efficient check in. Excellent room. Very nice surroundings, i.e., short walking path around property.
- 5/5
At check in I was informed of the free breakfast and given the Bistro card showing "Redeemable for One Breakfast Entree & One Grande Coffee of the Day" times it was available, Mon-Fri: 6am-10am Sat & Sun: 6:30am-11am. I went to the Bistro at 10:42am prior to checking out and I was informed that they closed at 10:30. I inquired to the young lady at the bar was this a one time occurrence, she responded, No and proceeded to do what she was doing. I went over to the front desk to check out and brought it to the attention of the front desk personnel that the Bistro card shows breakfast ends at 11am on Sunday. She informed me that, no it's 10:30am. I would like the manager or corporate to be aware to follow through on the services you advertise. Often selecting a hotel is based on the additional amenities offered. Please consider reprinting your Bistro cards or display signage with the correct times of operation. I would stay at this Marriott location again.
- 5/5
It’s an amazing stay, very polite and respectful.
- 5/5
💪
- 4/5
Good customer service, nice location and good room sizes
- 5/5
very comfortable
- 5/5
Comfortable and welcoming. Small but good dinner dining option.
- 4/5
Nice clean place - nice people at front desk
- 5/5
The facility smells amazing, so fresh and the staff are extremely accommodating.
- 5/5
My TV did not work in my room. The front desk person, Chris, gave me another room and provided complimentary service for the inconvenience.
- 5/5
The hotel staff were very friendly. The hotel is located within walking distance of a game day shuttle. The room was clean with comfortable beds. Our only complaint was the walls are very thin. We were in an adjoining room, and our neighbor’s cough kept waking us up throughout the night. Nonetheless, we will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
My family and I were thrilled with the hotel. Room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. When we got off the elevator we saw our room was the first door, and maybe we got lucky with considerate guests, but it was still a quiet night's sleep. We appreciated the front desk giving us all the bottled water we needed or wanted--seems like many places would charge you for that. Finally, the hotel is literally across the street from the Friday Center which was convenient for picking up a bus to take us to the Smith Center. Will return again.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, helpful and upbeat. I still don't know how many points or rewards towards free night?
- 4/5
The place is dated, but it was clean and made sense. Indoor pool was a plus for our granddaughters. Connectivity should be updated. My husband was disappointed with the lack of complementary coffee in the lobby. The bed was comfortable. Linens were nice.
- 3/5
Clean towels and coffee with cups should have been provided on day 2
- 5/5
Staff were very friendly and helpful! Customer service was outstanding!
- 5/5
It’s a great location, and all the amenities I needed was there.
- 4/5
I had an amazing experience. I am so sure to stay here again in future
- 5/5
Excellent location in Chapel Hill.
- 5/5
Commend the hotel to other people.
- 3/5
Super scary slippery tub and safety handle was in the wrong place so useless.
- 5/5
Nice atmosphere
- 5/5
Very friendly service, at all levels, from check in to room service, good price, convenient location, quiet.
- 4/5
Convenience was A++ for this trip and this hotel was A+++. Staff were awesome, willingness to accommodate our needs perfect, and availability were excellent. Our wishes were that the bathrooms were bigger and a more acceptable coffee arrangement in the room was accessible.
- 5/5
Very convenient to UNC and surrounding area. Clean, quiet and friendly. Our #1 choice when traveling to the triangle.
- 5/5
Comfy and clean
- 4/5
Great location. Very clean
- 5/5
Our grandson was having surgery at UNC childrens hospital. The hotel was a short drive. Awesome frontWould definitely stay here again.desk staff. Very clean and the beds were comfy.
- 5/5
Convenient with good pizza across the highway.
- 5/5
Location worked great for my purpose.
- 5/5
First time staying there, and i will definitely be back. It was clean, comfortable, and well- maintained. Staff was very friendly and professional. Ample parking. Lovely hotel.
- 5/5
I loved the Marriott . However the bar was limited on drinks. Selection was not good . The bistro was open limited hours
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, staff very friendly hotel central to everywhere
- 5/5
A very clean and welcoming hotel with good size rooms and within easy driving distance of all of the Chapel Hill amenities
- 3/5
The staff at the front desk is great. The staff at the cafe needs work.

- 5/5
Only there for a very short time
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful - nice big lobby, our room was very spacious and everything was extremely clean and well kept. The night manager was also very helpful. And the breakfast was delicious - everything was fresh and made to order.
- 5/5
Alonzo and Robert were very helpful with getting me checked in and situated with my early arrival, very friendly and great conversation. I would stay here again
- 4/5
great location and friendly staff
- 5/5
Exceptional motel but it needs more lights in the far reaches of the parking lot at night extremely isolated and extremely dark.

Quick and easy check in. Room was comfortable and clean. Hotel was easy to find and near a store and restaurants. Easy to get to UNC campus, but not so close as to be bothered by the nightlife.

Property was beautiful and well kept. My only complaint is I requested a roll away bed. The mattress was old and worn and sinking in the middle. Definitely needs to be replaced.

Fantastic stay, exactly as the website described it. Easy access to the city.

This is a great location close to campus. The staff is always friendly, accommodating, and helpful. While location is easy to access and convenient / it is a quiet location.
