Functional, clean and value priced for an overnight stay

Our room was very nice, clean and cozy and we got some really good rest there. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Parking was also very convenient.

Check in was easy, room was clean, pool was great and breakfast was a highlight. I would stay here again.

The key for the room would not unlock the side door for the week. The front desk was aware but no one came to fix the problem.

Location, Price, rooms were clean and so was pool. Service desk attendants... SOME could have been more pleasant. One even came across as rude. Check in person was on great. So just depends on who you get. No air in elevator or second floor hallway. Second floor hallway smells a little musky. We were done in plenty of time, but lady started taking up condiments off tables at 9 am when breakfast is served until 9:30. I could see others rushing through line because of it. The MOST uncomfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on!

Very nice and clean hotel. Breakfast was good and really enjoyed the 24 hr coffee in the lobby.

The biggest issue was ! There was no AC in the elevator or hallways. It was 87 degrees outside . There were a few dark hairs on the bathroom floor . But the staff was great guy at the front desk & the lady at the morning buffet was so very nice . Food was good & lots of choices.

Vending machines consisted of coke and club soda. No food or other drink options.

Found the room to be clean, the pool area well maintained, and the dining area common area kept clean. Would suggest if anyone is staying only tonight to have some sort of signage, letting them know that the dirty towels are not taken from the room and fresh towels replaced. The front staff was not always available in the mornings and did not see a way to alert anyone that assistance was needed. My biggest disappointment and I did speak to the manager was on the second evening. I wanted to print my Southwest Airlines boarding pass. Both computers in the common area did not allow access to the site, the gentleman that was working that evening did not know how to access the Internet site. Additionally, he did not offer to allow access to from his computer. And the most disappointing part was he did not appear to want to help other than instruct me to just go to the airport and print my pass there. Even a suggestion to let the am shift know would have been helpful so that in the morning someone could have assisted me would have been an option.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We had two issues that were not addressed while we were there, we were staying there two nights and they did not clean the room in between. We had to ask for extra towels and they only gave us one set of towels for two people. It's been 6 years since covid, there is no more excuse of not cleaning the rooms when guests are staying multiple nights. The second issue was the breakfast on Sunday The buffet was well stocked with multiple choices. On Monday there were only half of the available items. I understand less people are in the hotel on Monday but that just means putting out less of each item. Not eliminating the items all together. We would have a hard time staying at this hotel again.

Great location for West Ashley. Soft comfortable beds, good a/c. Breakfast was okay, meats were a little dry and overdone. Good coffee and pump creamer.

Breakfast was quite nice with a variety of hot and cold items. Loved my egg white with veggies omelette and turkey sausage. Something for everyone!

We stayed 4 nights and our room was never restocked. No housekeeping. Had to go to front desk every evening to ask for new washcloths and towels. Trash build up and so did dirty towels, also had to ask for more tomorrow paper When we asked the front desk about id housekeeping would be coming at all to clean our room we were told they didn’t know. Nothing more was offered. front desk provided us with fresh towels but never offered any other assistance or removal of trash or dirty towels

Breakfast wasn’t great. When I checked in, I had to wait for the agent at the desk to get done eating potato chips and then she proceeded to burp several times as she checked me in. She did say excuse me though.

Parking was convenient, and breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus. The only downside was that the outdoor pool was not in good condition. Overall, a pleasant stay—thank you.

The included breakfast was delightfully good in comparison to other hotels that offer the same amenity. The hotel was also nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. This hotel is in a convenient area outside of downtown Charleston if you are looking to explore some of the southern areas around Charleston.

The room itself was somewhat dated. But it was clean and had a comfortable bed. Stayed for two nights and was quiet both nights. Breakfast itself is excellent with a great coffee the seating area could have been bigger. Overall a good stay.

Had requested a pack and play and it was all set up when we arrived. We also received early check in which was wonderful with a fussy baby! The pool was a little scary which was a disappointment especially coming from snowy Canada. Otherwise a nice stay!

Breakfast was excellent, lots of choices and very appetizing. Front desk staff was always willing to help. Please note that housekeeping never cleans the room during the stay; we had to request at front desk towels, trash removal, etc.

Clean, convenient, staff friendly, comfortable. Public areas dark and outdated. Nothing lights and paint/carpet couldn’t fix. Room very nice, comfortable, quiet. TV outdated. No streaming, remote so worn couldn’t tell function on buttons. Overall, lower end 3 star at upper end 3 star price.

Whenever we have trips and we need to stay somewhere for a single night, we always use holiday inn express because they are consistant, have a easy breakfast, but this was not the experience we usually have. 1) there was a huge fight in our hallway at 4am in the morning with a younger couple throwing each other against the walls, and cussing each other out because one cheated. it was so loud it woke both of our children up, and our older child couldn’t go back to sleep and was exhausted for her dance competition that morning! 2) the heaters for the breakfast didn’t work so there was no warm food…other than that, everything was consistent, and comparable service!

Place is undergoing some renovation. Unfortunately the renovation efforts seemed to be an avenue for some pretty slack service. Called desk when heat would not work with an overnight temperature forecast to drop to 20. Woman at desk respindr was that it works because that room had been renovated. Not an absolute by any means

This is our 2nd time staying at this location. The breakfast was the same daily just changing potatoes for one egg dish one day. The pancake machine was broken all week. Ice machines were broken. Third floor where we stayed was tore up, under construction but no one worked on it all week while we were there. Two years ago this was a great place to stay snd now it is not. Sad

Perfect road trip stop. Good breakfast. The room luggage holder fit two full sized suitcases, which was a big plus. Room size large. Location was easy to historical district. Price was right. Excellent value and no complaints.

The first room mattress pad was nasty with yellow stains on it.I feel should have been new pad when they change bed and seen it.That was disgusted.Than they put in another room when I complain about it

It was great having a restaurant next door. I arrived by Charleston taxi from the airport. The restaurant made it easy to have a good meal at a reasonable price.

The room that we first got when we checked in smelled strongly like cigarettes. We requested another room and that room didn’t smell like cigarettes, however the room overall didn’t feel that clean. The blinds barely worked and had holes and stains. The bathroom had random red hairs all over it.

The hotel looks nice but my hotel room had spots in the carpet, a roach on the ceiling and the bathroom had a funny smell.

Was taken back with how dirty and unkept this property looked. We only stayed one night thank goodness but it didn’t feel clean, carpet was dirty and had to ask for a new room as our first one was really musty. Front desk staff was very nice

Nice hotel. Very clean with the most attentive breakfast staff I've seen anywhere I've traveled. Both ladies were quick to help my daughter get the food she wanted, vigilant to wipe tables between parties, and constantly refilled dishes. Other staff were also friendly and always offered a "Good morning!" like they meant it. The pool felt more like a hot tub than a refreshing place to cool off...not sure if there’s anything to be done when the outside temperature is so high. Despite an elevator outage I was warned about before staying, service didn't suffer.

Staff were working very hard to address numerous issues with the property. Phone didnt work in our room and the TV has no remote. I got one from the front desk and programmed it for them. Beds were fine, although I'd recommend bringing your own pillow. It was fine for one night, but no more.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Charleston US Hwy 17 & I-526 by IHG over Father’s Day weekend, visiting from Nashville, TN for our first family trip to Charleston—and it couldn’t have been better! Ms. Sherrie, the Assistant GM, welcomed us with warmth and even took time to write down local dining and sightseeing suggestions. Molly at the front desk was equally kind and helpful every day. Breakfast was a highlight thanks to Ms. Kim and Ms. Angie, who served up hot food and heartfelt hospitality every morning. They made it feel like home. Our room was always clean and comfortable thanks to Sammy and Tasha in housekeeping—so friendly and attentive. And Mr. Richard from maintenance kept things running smoothly with a smile. Location was good, a Ruby, Tuesday restaurant next-door other restaurants nearby. When we arrived I requested room on the first floor due to my wife’s illness. I was told there was none available so we went to the second floor. We got there unpacked and turned on the air conditioning. Almost immediately there’s a strong odor coming from air-conditioning unit that smelled horribly close to urine. I went to the front desk and report the issue. I was told that there was no other rooms available. Another staff member I assumed might’ve been a manager overheard the conversation and went to the room with me. The moment she entered the room. She smelled it and told me to follow her back to the lobby. Miraculously they found a room on the first floor, which is available.🤔 I don’t know if that’s some kind of policy where they would hold back a room for emergencies, but I don’t care if a personal room is available when I asked for it initially it should’ve been granted. The room is average. The breakfast is subpar.

You can tell this is an old hotel that has been remodeled. The AC controls are on the unit attached to the window. There was hair in my shower, but overall was a nice place to stay. Staff was nice and breakfast was good.

This was a pleasant stay with a short drive to many attractions nearby. The breakfast was great each morning with a lot of variety. The room was a good size. Beds were comfortable but pillows were extremely flat. Room service did come each day and gave us new towels but kept forgetting to replace soap and tissues. The one day they did not make the bed. Overall it was a good stay for the 3 nights we were there and there are a lot of restaurants and stores around. Easy parking in the parking lot.

This Holiday inn was for us a great place. We stayed there two nights. They have a good hot breakfast and a nice lounge to sit in to eat. The rooms were very nice. We were in room 122 and the bed was very comfortable. The pool area was nice, although we didn't use it. Only about 10-15 minutes from down town the old part of Charleston. Straight down the road. There is a Ruby Tuesday in the same parking lot, and a very nice restaurant right across the street in another lodging place. We would differently stay here again.

Perfect spot outside the busy downtown area that is easy to access from the highway. The staff was great and the area is quiet.

As HIE hotels go, this one was just adequate. Nothing special. The biggest annoyance was the lack of water pressure in the shower. We were both so glad have a good shower when we got home. Hard to fix this issue, but there is only one elevator, and it is very small. I can imagine at peak usage, you may have to wait a while to use the elevator. There wasn't very much diversity for the breakfast menu and we tired of it after 4 days. The hotel is alongside a busy highway, but the noise never infiltrated our room. There is a red light at the entrance to the hotel, so no issues coming or going during the busiest traffic. There are a number of good restaurants within 5 mins of the hotel. It takes about 15-20 mins to reach downtown, if that is your goal. This hotel was at least 1/2 the cost or more of downtown hotels. We prefer to be away from the crowds anyway, so this was a good location for us. All of the staff were very friendly and seemed glad to have visitors and were proud to call Charleston home. We enjoyed our stay overall.

The staff was great. We got a late start in the mornings but our room was always cleaned and fresh towels provided. The only downside was we stayed almost a week and the small closet space and 2 drawers was limited so I kept everything in our suitcase

Man barricaded himself inside his room and the cops came at 4 am. This went on for until just after 6am.
