This hotel is OK. Pros: It's in a great location - near the L train, easy to get to many parts of the City, next to a CVS, the room was clean, and the bedding was comfortable. Cons: the room was TINY - the smallest hotel room I have ever had in the US! There was no where to put anything, not even a closet. Our room looked out onto a dark air well. There was only one working elevator, which sometimes took 10 minutes to arrive. AND, the one working elevator was tiny, so more than once, after waiting for a long time, we could not even get on the elevator, and had to wait even longer. There is no real ambiance - a bad cafe, no lobby, an exclusive bar with a maitre d. It would be much better if guests could hang out in the bar, like a lobby bar for the HOTEL GUESTS! I would not recommend this hotel and I would not stay again.

Great location and price was decent, looked to be a lively bar downstairs (but didn't disturb me on the 4th floor) It was FINE I suppose. Like a lot of these modern boutique style hotels from bigger hotel chains (like the Moxy) you get a some small attempt at an amount of modern character but sacrifice some basics things you'd expect in a hotel like room service, coffee machine, getting your room made up each day. the traffic noise (hooting) from the street was pretty bad, Chicagoans seemingly unable to drive more than 50 meters without leaning on the horn. I think next time I'd be tempted to not try and be a hipster and just book a mainstream hotel brand.

Well maintained boutique hotel in a perfect location. Rooms were nice but VERY small. There was only one working elevator which made for long wait times during busier times of the day.

Urban grunge..which was not what I was expecting (so maybe that’s on me). Only one working elevator for my entire stay —5 days. Thankfully I was on the third floor and could take the funky stairway. Nice employees. No coffeemaker in the room. Curtain rather than a closet door. Not all TV stations worked. I am a Marriott person and haven’t stayed at a Hilton in some time…I am running back to Marriott.

The hotel was wonderful, the only downside was the elevators were reliable. Both were down one night and then one was down the whole time.

Bar is great. Location is walking distance to just about anywhere. The mattress needs replaced. The last couple of times I’ve stayed the mattress was uncomfortable so to a huge dip in it.

From the beginning of my experience it was beyond awful. First things first, I was unable to check into my room until after 8pm. If that wasn't bad enough I had to wait in the lobby area for over an hour while I was berated by a man whom I presumed to be homeless for 15 minutes. When I finally was able to go-to my room, the room was dirty and not at all what was advertised. Also, my wife spotted what we presumed to be blood stains in the bathroom. All in all this was an absolute horrible experience. Subpar is an understatement.

The staff were incredibly kind allowing to check in early as a room was ready. What a treat to be able to settle in a bit before a very fun day of exploring Chicago.

Air conditioner was brutal. Loud, woke us up a lot. Its like 5 feet from your face it feels like. Its a good hotel and its the 3rd time Ive stayed here. Not all rooms are the same so we just got unlucky with this setup. At one point with the thermo set at 71, it was flipping itself nonstop between cooling and heating because the room is so small. You hear stuff in the hallway as if its in your room. Thanks to the dude on the floor who had a 30 minute speakerphone conversation at 3 am with his "boo". Appreciate that.

The Acme hotel is the best hotel I have stayed at in Chicago. The rooms are on the smaller side but you have everything you need. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is amazing. I have stayed in several of their rooms and they are always very clean. But, the main reason I always return to this hotel is for the staff. They always go above and beyond what is expected and I appreciate all of their hard work. The manager, Jennifer, is the absolute best.

The bed was really comfortable but the walls are paper thin! We could hear the guy in the room across from us when he was talking at normal levels and—much worse—the washer/dryer in the housekeeping closet which runs all day and well into the night and makes pretty loud thumping noises. If you have sleep problems it may be worth asking the (very nice!) staff about this when you’re assigned your room. Relatedly: our room overlooked a shaft between buildings so it’s very dark with no view to speak of

Charge for any odor. Double charged me and had to wait for the refund. Room was barely cleaned.

They charged me for smoke fee when I didn’t smoke in the room. I had stuff with me but only went outside to use it. Interesting to charge for any smell outside of smoke. $250 smoking fee when I didn’t smoke. They must charge for any “strong” odor.

Clean room. Enjoyed the booth table in the room for late night snacks. Excellent location within walking distance to a variety of bars and restaurants.

When I needed extra towels they were at my room quickly. There’s parking next-door for $40 but no In-N-Out privileges.

As for the hotel itself, it’s clean and has a nice vibe. The staff was a bit of a mystery—they were super fast and efficient, and they handled a barking dog near my room right away, but I don’t think I saw a single person smile the whole time. It threw me off a little but hey, they got the job done. I’d definitely stay there again, I just know better than to take a room on the alley side next time.

My flight was delayed to the next day, which was completely out of my control. I booked the stay through Expedia and immediately tried to work with the hotel to find a reasonable solution. I wasn’t even insisting on a refund—I asked if they could change the reservation to a future date, offer a credit, or simply allow me to add a friend’s name so someone else could use the room. The front desk staff was extremely unhelpful and had a very unpleasant attitude when I called. To try to resolve the situation, Expedia contacted the hotel directly and proposed several possible solutions on my behalf. The hotel rejected every single option without any effort to help. The lack of flexibility and the rude, dismissive tone from the front desk made the experience even worse. Many hotels understand that travel disruptions happen and try to work with guests, but that was definitely not the case here. Very disappointing customer service. I would not recommend staying here.

On check in the staff was very welcoming. The hotel has a really cool vibe with a hot tub and weight room downstairs as well as a great bar and breakfast bakery/ coffee shop. The rooms are on the small size but very nice and clean. Overall excellent visit and I have recommended to several traveling friends I have. Parking was the only negative as the convenient next door parking garage was $40 with no in/out priveledge. Casino across the street and surrounded by great restaurants as well as 2 blocks off Michigan Ave. Stay here.

The amenities were quite limited, only glasses for water and no mugs, teas or sugar, kettle. The hairdryer was functioning but plastic was partially broken. It was convenient to have iron board and iron.

We stayed at the ACME for a girls weekend in December. It was great! The staff were friendly and accommodated us when we arrived early due to flights. The room was BIG and clean. We loved the funky decor throughout. Coffee downstairs was easy but they didn’t have much food so maybe plan somewhere else for breakfast. We walked the whole city from the hotel and felt safe. Recommend making a reservation if you want to go to the hotel bar, they were full when we tried to go for a pre-dinner drink.

There are several parkades in the immediate area but only one has a discount with the hotel. Otherwise a great experience!

The room was very clean and quiet. The bathroom was cool with a lip print light on the mirror and the shower had a rainfall shower head. The bed was large and comfy. We were given plenty of towels and pillows. The hotel was decorated uniquely with lots of charm. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a bar downstairs with nice options and a more upscale look. I was very nervous that this booking would be too unique that I would not feel comfortable however, I think it was very nice for the price. I would definitely stay here again I was in the area.

Our stay at Acme hotel was amazing! We were warmly greeted by the best receptionist Jerome who made us feel comfortable and provided us with some tips for getting around the city as he assured us that we’d love it. And we did! He shared some good places to visit during our time in Chicago and none of them disappointed. The location of Acme is PRIME for exploring downtown. The Berkshire room downstairs is perfect to get the night started and the vibes and aesthetic of the hotel made us feel like a part of the city. Acme and Jerome were very hospitable and left us with the impression that we’d always have a reliable hotel to come back to. 100/10 recommend! Thank you Jerome!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for our anniversary. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location in the city. Close to shopping and lots of restaurants. Also the vibe of the hotel was so different, in a good way. Would definitely stay here again.

Despite us getting to the hotel a half hour after check in time, one of our rooms was not ready and there was no apology or explanation. Just “it’s not ready, it’ll be an hour.” While we waited in the hotel lobby, my mom was pickpocketed near the doorway of the hotel. This was reported as soon as we discovered it and the hotel did nothing to help us out. There were no extra sheets for the pull-out bed and after 5 calls to front desk with no answer, we went down to lobby to ask. There was nobody at desk until finally someone came from the back. The whole front desk area smelled of pot smoke. In the morning before check out time they sent someone around to change locks on all the doors, so there was a stranger in the room as I came out of the bathroom. The whole hotel experience was shady and unwelcoming.

Had a small issue which was resolved efficiently and effectively by hotel management. Pleased with the follow-up.

Furthermore, the parking credit that was noted in the reservation was not honored upon check-in, which was disappointing. The beds were excessively firm, making it challenging to sleep comfortably. Lastly, the carpet in the room was not properly secured to the floor—it shifted easily and resembled temporary flooring rather than standard hotel carpeting. Unfortunately, due to these combined issues, I would be unlikely to stay at this property again.

This is always my go to hotel whenever I plan a stay-cation in Chicago. It’s the all around comfort and the entire vibe of the hotel. I would recommend a more thorough cleaning when turning over the rooms, as this stay I found an old Popeyes bag and an old sock in my room neither belonged to us lol however it’s no big deal because I’ll always come back and I know I’ll get the excellent service as always

am not sure why the ratings of this hotel are so high. Our room was dark and dingey. The dinginess of the room made it feel unclean although there was no noticeable dirt or grime. I did not feel relaxed due to the terrible ambiance. The bed was broken on one side — springs broken and noisy with a dip in the middle. The air conditioning/heating unit was extremely loud and ran at most hours of the day and night. No closet. No microwave on site. No disposable silverware available for guests. My husband said this was one of the worst hotels he has ever stayed in.

I only gave two stars because of the terrible service after we left. My daughter left a shopping bag in the room. We contacted ACME via phone call and text asking if we could pay to have it shipped home. We were not able to get a response after four attempts.

this is my fifth visit in the past three years .. heart of Chicago .. convenient to shops .. restaurants .. public transportation .. indoor parking attached to the property .. an converted office building .. it’s a hipster spot - even for this 75 y/o retired hippie/hipster …

I LOVE this hotel. The room was clean, cool and hip. I stayed in a room with 2 queen beds and there was plenty of space to move around. The bar downstairs is the best with knowledgeable mixologists who make unbelievable cocktails. The location couldn’t be better for my needs.

The rooms are super clean, modern, and made for relaxing in between our outings. Yes, they’re a little compact, but they’re smartly designed — we had plenty of space for our bags, makeup, and all the essentials. The rainfall showers were a treat after long days out, and the beds were so comfortable. Bonus: The syaff was really nice, helpful, and accommodating. They provided excellent tips. The location is unbeatable — we walked to the Magnificent Mile, Riverwalk, and had amazing restaurants and bars just minutes away. Great spot for shopping, photos, and nightlife.

I liked the cleanliness of our room and friendly staff! I didn't like that there was no accessable microwave, even in the lobby or near the ice machine. I LOVED the lobby vibe, the R&B music always playing as we entered or exited!

Great location right off the red line el and surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Steps from the Mag Mile. Friendly front desk. When we were super early and just going to check our bags, our room was ready and the front desk checked us with no issues whatsoever. The bed was comfortable there was a nice mini fridge in the room and we couldn’t hear any street noises. Please do yourself a favor and swing by Eatily, on the next block. Fantastic pastries and coffee there!

Having stopped in Chicago on my way back to Oakland, CA for a visit after spending a month in Italy & Spain, the Acme was all around perfect. Especially for the location; so much of Chicago in walking distance. Excellent room amenities, very helpful staff.

Check-in was akward. When we entered, two employees were screaming at each other, just playing around, but they did not stop when we came in, that's for sure. No apologies from them, at all. Ironically, the first thing we had to sign was regarding their noise policy!

However, there were a few small inconveniences—there was no toothpaste or drinking water provided in the room, and the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan. Aside from those details, everything else was fine, and we had a good experience. With just a couple of improvements, this could easily be a five-star stay.

Great location for the price.

Also there was a leak coming from the unit above mine. At one point the neighbor upstairs was running water and I could hear it leaking in the walls. Next thing I know it started pouring down on me through the light fixture. I had to clean myself off and sop up all the water with towels. I think the problem may be that there is no shower curtain or door to contain the water in the shower, so it just runs out of the shower and all over the floor, and over the years it has rotted away the floors and walls, so now there are major leak issues throughout the building. Until they fix this, they’re slowly destroying their building.

Great place to stay at. Good location and steps away from the L. Quick check in too. Only complaint was the water from both the sink and shower came out too hot (even at lowest hot setting). Apart from that, would stay here again.

Nice hotel, room was much smaller than I anticipated but clean nonetheless. My only issue was with the noisy neighbors at 2am and the busy street.

I have zero complaints about my stay at the Acme Hotel. Extremely satisfied with staff, cleanliness, location of hotel. Very hip, quirky atmosphere, loved it!

Overall hotel and room was clean, well kept, great location in River North. No complimentary water, it was $4 at front desk. Room walls were a bit thin, and room next to mine was really loud and partying until 6am, no security to stop them.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and I appreciated that they were happy to store my luggage after check out. The bed was very comfortable, and the location is incredibly convenient for getting around. I also enjoyed the quirky touch of chalkboards on each room door—it added a bit of charm. Cleanliness was generally good, though I noticed some dust on items that aren’t often moved, like the hanging bathroom robe. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Everything about finding the hotel to parking was so easy and convenient. Hotel is very clean and up beat. Love the music theme and unique rooms. Extremely convenient if you are wanting to do things downtown. Walking distance to Magnificent Mile & Millennium Park. Tons of other shopping around like Target, Ross, 5 Below and so much more. Will definitely stay here in the future.

Had to redo room keys each day, so not great. Staff was ok, seemed very new. Obviously tons of options for walkable restaurants, retail, etc. I'd probably look elsewhere in the neighborhood next time, but wasn't terrible.

Central and walkable to the Magnificent Mile shopping, Navy Pier, Millenium Park, the Loop and many restaurants. Hotel is older but still comfortable. Parking available next door to hotel (public parking). Cute coffee shop and bakery in lobby and great tasting bar in hotel.

We loved our stay there. Couldn't have picked a better place for the price . Staff were very nice and helpful. It was within walking distance to almost everything we went to see. Will definitely go back

Loved the "old school" decor. Very creative use of album covers in the elevator - I almost forgot to get off on my floor because I was so busy looking at them. Comfortable rooms that were very clean and the staff were amazing to work with. Also, the rain shower was relaxing after a long day.

The room was fairly beat up and the noise level outside did not allow for a good nights sleep. They need to up grade their windows. The location was great.

Unique place

Really good location, right next to the trains and dinning. Walkable to everything, there was a really nice bar in the hotel and a cafe. Only downside was the pillows, they were like paper and the shower head was very dirty, also the room we got with the king bed was very small.

Key card didn’t work half the trip, tried 4 or 5 different cards
