Great room in a nice hotel. No bar or food on Sunday night and nothing that close that is open.
- 5/5
Staff was remarkably helpful and helped us check in early after an early flight in. Gym was good, restaurant was delicious. My son and I stayed two nights and were enormously comfortable.

My stay was excellent from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always willing to help, which made a big difference throughout my trip. The hotel was impeccably clean and very well maintained, providing comfort and peace of mind during my entire stay. I was extremely satisfied with every aspect of the experience and would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it without hesitation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The morning coffee was excellent. We asked about tea in the evening and akettle and wonderful teas were brought to our room. We went to the bar for happy hour and the appetizers were great as were the prices. Nice location. Friendly staff.

Beautiful property. Convenient location for anything in the Loop area. Love the coffee and wine hours. Great restaurant in Boleo, too!
- 5/5
Didn’t like how pushy one of the female door staff was, as she grabbed my bags when I got out of an Uber without asking. Took them all the way to my door, hoping for a big tip. Also, very strongly suggested we use a cab that was one of her friends, instead of an Uber. Won’t get bath/shower combination again as the faucet wouldn’t stop dripping. .

Rooms were cleaned. Suprised there was no coffee provided in room.

Loved the lobby area Room didn’t feel as luxe as other Kimptons I’ve stayed at, and weren’t as nice as I was expecting given the lobby and the price. The room felt a little “plastic-y” - like I was in a cheaper hotel. Also there was hair in the shower that wasn’t cleaned.

Staff support was amazing. However, they are not engineers. The room was freezing the first night, fixed the following morning temporarily, but the second evening, it could not keep up, so I endured another cold night.
- 4/5
Enjoyed our time at this hotel.
- 1/5
The most rooms are really noise! 3 rooms next to each other and you can clearly hear what other rooms doing. No carpet outside your room as a 4 star hotel?? I have to upgrade to the room with tub - almost the price of a 5-star, then it's quieter and those will be located with carpet area. I forgot my book after check out, spent 20-25 mins to get connected to the right people and no feedback yet almost after 24 hours. Can not believe it!
- 3/5
How they had water and coffee at the check in station and complimentary wine. No door for bathrooms, no water left everyday when housekeeping came in. It was dark
- 5/5
Friendly and welcoming staff, extremely helpful valet, beautiful room, comfortable beds, and a warm ambiance. We genuinely enjoyed our stay here. We were only in town for one night, but we would have easily been comfortable here for a longer stay. Walking distance to many popular places, and the hotel itself was in a safe area. (Whenever I travel without my husband, that is of particular concern, so it was appreciated.) The next time we're in town for a show, we will absolutely stay at the Kimpton Gray again.

Great check in. The wine was a best treat with check in.

It was okay. I believe the photos were more impressive than actual in person.

Room was decent. The room service hung up on me twice. My third attempt I was told it was too late to order room service. It was New Years Day and choices in food was very slim. It was pretty frigid and my daughter did not want to go out in the cold.Ms. m at the front desk offered

Nice welcome! Complimentary “happy hour.” Room was clean, friendly staff, great location. Expensive nightly parking.
- 5/5
I've stayed at a few downtown hotels in the Chicago Loop before and this one is by far my favorite! The staff was very friendly and attentive, and hotel itself was very beautiful, clean and comfortable. The location is fantastic, especially so close to the trains. Would happily come back for another stay!
- 5/5
Absolutely fantastic pet-friendly property located in the heart of downtown. Every staff member we interacted with was incredibly friendly and helpful! Will definitely stay here again!

Excellent hotel. I highly recommend.

The hotel staff are very warm and attentive. They do their best to help every guest. Guests can pick up bottled water at the front desk, and there is a spot at the entrance where you can temporarily park to load and unload your luggage.

Spacious, beautifully decorated room. Beautiful architecture in the building. Great location close to lots of restaurants and shopping.

I absolutely loved my stay at this property! Everything—from the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the beautifully maintained rooms—made the experience unforgettable. The staff were incredibly kind, and every detail felt thoughtfully designed for comfort. I can’t wait to come back!

- 5/5
Overall excellence! Wine hour was great. Staff couldn’t have been better.
- 1/5
The hotel charged me $50 more than Expedia’s quoted cost. The old bait and switch for a substandard hotel.
- 3/5
Check-in with the concierge was smooth, and the staff was polite and efficient, which I appreciated. However, the condition of the common areas left a lot to be desired. The hallways and entrance carpets looked unclean, and the elevators also did not feel particularly clean. The lighting in the entrance area was poor and gave off a rather uninviting vibe. Service was inconsistent: I requested a blanket one night, and it took nearly an hour to arrive. Access to water was inconvenient—only two bottles were provided, and there weren’t enough fountains. Offering reusable bottles for guests to refill would be a much better experience. The in-room amenities were disappointing. Towels looked worn and old, the shower had weak water pressure and limited flow, and it was unclear what room service was available, if any. Overall, while the staff was professional, the property itself did not live up to the standard I was expecting. Definitely not on par with what a 4.5-star rating suggests. Will not return and certainly do not reccomend.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel with great options.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel
- 4/5
Although it’s a nice conveniently located and clean hotel in the downtown area with great staff, ask for a printed invoice when you check out rather than get an e-invoice. And the reason for that is, we were going to be charged for parking for 2 days ( parking isn’t cheap in Chicago at all) although we didn’t even have a car! ☹️ and also for a meal we didn’t charge to the room. They were all reversed but was a bit disappointing.

But, I'm going to find the words to say more, because this hotel and its great staff deserve it! I booked this hotel a while ago for my husband's surprise birthday vacation. It was a total of 6 of us, I love IHG! This one is definitely 1 of the top locations that I've visited in the past 15 to 20 years. I'm talking conveniently easy to locate, and very kind staff. Everyone, from the door person to registration staff, to the cleaning staff was so courteous all the time! They speak when they see you. They hold doors, and they answer questions! Our first great experience was with Shay and Andrew. We arrived a little early, a little too early to check in, and was told that they sold out the previous evening, and there would be a wait to check in. These 2 individuals were very helpful with allowing us to store our luggage and provided great recommendations for things to do while we await our room. Their enthusiasm and personality were top-tier. And to be honest, they looked great! They were the perfect representation of what I want to see when visiting a business. This dynamic duo spoke very well, provided great professional, genuine, kind service. These guys are gems! Management, make sure these two get anything they want and everything they deserve to keep them representing IHG. I've written so much about the staff, I forgot to mention the décor during my stay! The décor was amazing! 5 Star Stay!! Highly recommended !!
- 5/5
The front desk folks were super helpful for local recommendations. The beds were very comfortable, the metro was just a couple blocks away, and it was easy walking distance to many restaurants and points of interest.
- 5/5
Amazing stay
- 5/5
Our room was comfortable, clean and exactly what we needed for the trip. I wish the room came with a coffee maker and I didn't have to request one but at least that was an option. The hotel was nice and close to everything we wanted to do.
- 3/5
Unfortunately, the overall experience was significantly affected by an ongoing issue with housekeeping during my stay. On the first day, after spending the entire day out exploring Chicago, I returned to find my room had not been cleaned. I was told that a "Do Not Disturb" sign was on my door, but that was not the case. I didn’t make a big deal out of it and simply asked for fresh towels and for the trash to be emptied, which I received. The next day, I was personally asked by housekeeping if I needed service — I confirmed yes. Later in the day, while changing outfits, I answered the door in a robe and was told they couldn't clean the room unless I left. I said no problem and mentioned I’d be heading out shortly. However, when I returned several hours later, the room was still untouched. At that point, I raised the issue with management. While they did offer complimentary breakfast and wine, it felt like a minimal gesture considering I was checking out the next morning — making the offer more symbolic than helpful. I truly appreciate many aspects of the Kimpton Gray, but consistent room cleanliness and responsive service are essential for a hotel of this caliber. I hope this feedback helps improve future guest experiences.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful and I love the art deco vibes. Every staff member I interacted with was kind and helpful. The food options weren’t necessarily all my favorite but the rooftop was cute and there are so many nearby options.

Love Kimpton! Alway
- 5/5
The Kimpton Gray is luxury at an affordable price. The property is beautiful and the amenities are top notch. The location is central from many things and it was perfect for hopping around multiple parts of the city. On this particular visit, I arrived very early in the city and the hotel was able to accommodate an early check-in for me, which was very much appreciated. I had a wonderful stay and will most definitely be back.
- 5/5
This hotel was excellent! It was very clean and tidy. The location was walking distance to a lot of different areas. The staff members were friendly.

- 5/5
Unique property. Beds are a bit too firm.
- 5/5
It was my first visit as well as stay at Chicago, I was very impressed by the warm and sincere welcome hotel reception had shown. I’d definitely stay here next time I travel to Chicago.
- 5/5
I loved this hotel. The location was convenient and many sites were in walking. The room was spacious and nice. I loved the decor.
- 5/5
Great!!
- 5/5
Very helpful staff member explained train system to us so that we felt comfortable giving it a try.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay! I love the atmosphere here.
- 5/5
This property is a hidden gem. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The hotel itself is an icon in my opinion and very well done with a baron the reception floor, a restaurant on the floor below, and a dinner restaurant upstairs. Quiet and convenient. Very safe, just a gorgeous property with Starbucks and another breakfast place inside as well. Staff was exceptional, rooms and amenities perfect , clean and well done. There is also an old school barber onsite downstairs as well on the building. Will be back and would highly recommend over many of the other mid to high end hotels, just fabulous
- 4/5
Wonderful bed, shower and memories you don’t usually find in other hotels. Will book again and again when I attend Chicago Symphony and Art Institute events! I miss the other Chicago Kimpton locations😩

- 5/5
The coffee and tea area was fully stocked and there were many places to sit that were open and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and one of the restaurants (The Fillmore) associated with the property was excellent.
- 5/5
Close walk to the symphony- it’s my go to when I am seeing a concert!
- 4/5
Good place if you need to be loop adjacent!
- 5/5
Very pretty, clean, fun complimentary wine hour!
- 5/5
Lovely decor and front desk service!
- 2/5
Very decent hotel but less than expected for Kimpton brand. Hotel seemed a bit run down despite apparently being redone 10 years ago. Furnishings in the room were lightly banged up. Windows in the room were small and oddly placed so limited visibility outside (lacklustre view on adjacent building which I was told was "good view"). Common areas were underwhelming in terms of appearance and vibe, and slightly inconvenient that 2 closest elevators are reserved for staff.
- 4/5
Convenient location
- 5/5
Clean and a great service
- 5/5
The Kimpton Gray Hotel was even nicer than expected, brought my fiancée there for his birthday day and we enjoyed this hotel so much between the multiple bars to the deep soaking tub will definitely be staying there again.
- 5/5
Smelled great, secured entry, mostly friendly staff, and good dining options/suggestions.
- 5/5
I had a great stay at the Kimpton. The staff were terrific and my room was perfect - comfortable, quiet and roomy. When I booked I didn’t know enough about the city to realize how central I would be, but I walked everywhere that I wanted to go to - the lake, museums, restaurants in the west loop, the opera - all within an easy walk. Loved it.
- 5/5
Staff was very nice and it was a more than quality experience
- 5/5
It was also a great location to Union Station. I had to catch a train and I was able to walk from the hotel to Union station in 12 minutes.
- 5/5
The Kimpton Gray allowed me to celebrate St. Paddy's with convenience and my bday witb Don Draper-style!
- 5/5
The Kimpton was wonderful. Staff was so curteous, kind and paid attention to every detail - even calling me by name after just one meeting. We were in town before check in and they kindly parked our vehicle and kept our luggage until check in. The hotel was stunning, clean and very comfortable. In walking distance to all that Chicago has to offer. We will definitely choose the Kimpton again!
- 5/5
Everything was ok except my room wasn’t in a good window view. Not sure if it was because of who I am.
- 3/5
This was once a really charming property, but has lacked upkeep and the updates that have been done have are low in quality. We didn’t have fully hot water for the first 24 hours, and after that it was decent. We opened a drawer to get an extra blanket and it was mildewed and smelled of mold. The manager’s response was that she had forgotten it was even there (she did say she was going to dispose of it). The breakfast is decent, but the happy hour consisted of stale packaged cake and carafes of unknown red and white wine. On the upside, the location is fantastic and the room was very spacious.
- 5/5
Unique and charming! Great stay!
- 5/5
Excellent service, very comfortable bed, elegant but chic decor.
- 5/5
The Kimpton Grey was a beautiful, clean and quiet hotel. The bed was very comfortable and with our accessible room, the walk in shower was easy to use.
- 5/5
Perfect location
- 5/5
Everything was great. Staff was very accommodating
- 5/5
This hotel was absolutely beautiful. All staff members were very warm and welcoming. I can't wait to go back!
- 3/5
Not a lot of storage space. Pretty much had to leave most things in my suitcase due to lack of storage space
- 4/5
Had a great time and the valet guys were great. They gave me great advice on places to check up. Thanks
- 5/5
Hotel was wonderful from check in at 1am until check out. Beautiful and modern inside and the rooms are beautiful and comfy. Valet parking mirrors that of downtown however there is a cheap and secure lot about a block over that you can book online.
- 4/5
The whole inside design
- 5/5
From valet to check in, nothing short of amazing. The hotel was nice, very clean, quiet, and modern. Staff was polite & friendly, the rooms were super nice & comfortable. Everything was 10/10! Even the restaurant in the hotel was great! I would highly recommend to anybody
- 5/5
Shay at the front desk was so personable and kind! Made check in a breeze!
- 5/5
Great Valentine’s Day get away!
- 5/5
Lovees it
- 5/5
Very clean in a beautiful building with lots of character.
- 3/5
The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a nice atmosphere and decent staff. However, there was no room service, and dining options were extremely limited. Nearby restaurants closed by 7 PM, and even the downtown Walgreens, which could have been a backup for snacks, closed at 6 PM. If you’re planning to stay here, be sure to grab food early or bring your own, as late-night options are nonexistent.
- 5/5
This hotel is nice. It's conveniently located, the room is spacious, it's clean and quiet. The restaurant (the Filmore) is ok: the food isn't that good and the service is astoundingly slow.
- 5/5
Loved my stay
- 5/5
The hotel was beautiful everything was so elegant and just felt right.
- 1/5
Horrible service that resulted in my injury. They are refusing to involve their insurance carrier at this time. I require that corporate involved an insurance carrier.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, clean comfortable room, great location. Easy check-in and checkout.
- 5/5
Amazing stay at a great location.
- 5/5
Delicious Breakfast and brunch at the Filmore which is on the first floor of the building. Staff is very nice and friendly. A place to relax and enjoy Chicago!
