Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a mix of positive and negative experiences. Guests often appreciate the friendly staff and convenient location, but many express dissatisfaction with the cleanliness, comfort, and condition of the rooms.
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Convenient location
- Unclean and outdated rooms
- Uncomfortable beds and furniture
- 2/5
Rooms had a really strong odor like dried cigarette paint, had to get an air freshener to clear it up some smell. The beds were really uncomfortable, it felt like the bed concave in, I woke up with a bad back. Also the headboard kept rocking and making noise. The pillows were really flat, I woke up with neck pain. The floor was dirty, after taking a shower, I went to the bed and my feet was dirty from the floor. The pool was closed due to maintenence and dirty. I wished I had known all of this and got better rooms from somewhere else.

The beds were not great. I had to switch rooms because the mattress in the first room was so worn and soft.

The bed was a little hard and there was no volume on the television, but the room was very clean.

Booked a single queen room for four people that was listed as "roll away" beds available for the additional 1-2 occupants. Received the single queen room, and no roll away beds were available. Seemed like no roll away were ever available, so the listing was misleading. Fortunately one of our occupants was a child, but one of the adults had to sleep on an improvised mattress made of pillows scrounged from the front desk on the floor. Terrible experience, never had to deal with that before and I've stayed in every chain around. Shame on this property.

I am sure the mattress was from my original apartment 40 years ago. No coffee, no chair to sit on, no wi-fi and the front desk had the audacity to tell me it was a delux room! There was NOTHING DELUX about that room. It was my fault to stay at a hotel that was literally 100 feet from a freeway. Worst hotel stay EVER!!
- 2/5
Furniture so old as well as carpet, drapes! Toilet seat has paint coming off … Corridor outside look unclean even the bedroom lock card doesn’t work properly ( must be so old) Continental breakfast is so poor … my sister and her husband skipped it … only me use yogurt, apple juice , coffee and instant oatmeal! I don’t think I come back !
- 5/5
Nice rooms, nice towels, nice pillows. Super hot water, a plus. My room is cleaned daily. I do not eat breakfast so I can't comment on that.

The breakfast room was inviting, sometimes had a good selection of cold food choices and provided a toaster. However, it was not kept up or supervised. It often lacked utensils. I saw a guy drive up and come in and load up and leave. He may or may not have been a guest. If you got there early, the water for tea would be tepid; if you got there later, the choices of bagels, etc. would be meager. You have to haul your luggage up and down stairs. There are no elevators or ramps.

Say they are renovating. Have stayed there twice, and unfortunately will not stay again. We adked for a renovated room and did not get what we requested The mattress we had was horrible and very old. Staff is very friendly though.

The outside lock was broken (and a sign inside the room said to always keep the door locked while in the room), there were several prominent signs saying that they are not responsible for damaged or stolen property, a person was smoking meth in the parking lot, the bed was worse than a cot. I left within minutes and they refused to refund my money. Do not trust the pictures or the reviews!!! Stay far away. Their logo may reflect a national chain, but they are far from it. Do not trust the positive reviews or the pictures.

Many years ago, my husband stayed here, I think it may have been a Best Western at the time. So, since I was traveling to Clackamas, I reserved a room here. I guess my two issues were: 1. No coffee in the room. I travel quite a bit and have never stayed at a motel that did not have coffee available in the room. 2. There was a sign on the door that said for security to lock the bolt lock and secure the chain. There was no chain, apparently broken at some point and not repaired. I definitely did not feel that safe in this location.

People were great! The whole place is under renovations, our bed was so squeaky you could not turn over without waking the people in the next room. (Bed springs was broken in two places) They never changed out the sheets, and when we asked for towels they said they ran out. The breakfast was the bare minimum and the bagel was stale. They did not have tea - but the manager went out and bought some! (Then the next day they did not have hot water.) :-) Anyway, we cut our stay in half and were SO much more comfy at the Hol Inn Expr just down the road. A bit more pricey, but very much worth the change. I hope this place gets their act together, as the people were very nice while we were there. They just had nothing to offer.

- 2/5
The amenities were below what I consider standard. For example. No in room coffee maker. The bed was the absolute worst. Lots of noise from the interstate. Wifi connectivity but no internet connect. They never did get if work in the 4 days 3 nights I stayed. However, the staff were all very pleasant, polite and genuinely seemed like they all were doing their best for a budget hotel.
- 4/5
What stood out: the stairs to first floor rooms need power washing, and the walkway. The pea gravel needs raking. These are the first things we see getting out of the car. The room was clean—if you don’t check corners. The bed sagged on one side and the springs creaked. 4 stars because we appreciated the price for the quality. QUIET. the shower faucet needs REPLACING. beautiful sink faucet but no drain protector‼️

But at least I got into one of my preferred buildings.
- 4/5
I stayed here because it was close to the hospital, and the location really is the biggest advantage—just a few minutes away, which made everything much easier. The hotel itself was okay: nothing fancy, but clean enough and comfortable for a short stay. The staff were polite, and check-in was simple. Some areas could use a little updating, and the rooms aren’t the most modern, but for the price and the convenience to the hospital, it did the job. If you need somewhere practical and reasonably comfortable while visiting the area, this hotel works just fine.
- 3/5
The room only slept 4 instead of 5 as listed on our reservation...one of our party had just gotten out of the hospital hours before...we asked for a room on the ground floor with no stairs. We got a room the was "ground level" and we had to walk down two sets of stairs...not happy!
- 3/5
TV did not work. Several lightbulbs burnt out in room. Extensive mildew on bathroom ceiling and walls.
- 5/5
Ok
- 3/5
The mattresses—not very comfortable. No odors—so that’s great! Details not clean, like Corners everywhere. Great parking.
- 3/5
Room was clean and good value for the price. You can tell it's a renovation in progress as the rooms have elements of the old with some new updates. The bed is memory foam but pretty firm, the frame squeaks anytime you move. There are no arm chairs aside from 1 stackable chair and table in the room. No dressers or stands, the mini fridge is on the ground and the microwave on top of that. Staff was very friendly checking in and out.

- 5/5
It was a nice location. The employees were there when we needed.
- 3/5
I requested a renovated room — while it was updated, the furniture and bathroom still felt a bit dated. The shower worked great the first night, but the next morning there was no hot water, which was disappointing. The bed was comfortable (a mix of firm/soft), clean, though a bit squeaky when moving around. My room was on the 3rd floor of the far building and there was a lot of highway noise. Luckily, Spotify’s “brown noise” helped drown it out so I could sleep. If you’re a light sleeper and looking for quiet, just keep in mind this is a busy area. On the plus side, the room had everything I needed — microwave, fridge, and a freezer that worked perfectly (great for keeping my cooler ice packs frozen while traveling). Breakfast was basic (bagels, toast, donuts, yogurt, cereal, coffee, tea), but honestly, for the price, I don’t pick hotels for the food — I usually bring my own. Overall: friendly staff, convenient, clean, and good value for the cost — just set expectations for noise and dated features.
- 4/5
Our stay was comfortable and clean. Really enjoyed it! Thank you staff for being so welcoming and assuring.
- 3/5
The tv was no working, when we arrived and the little refrigerador was dirty.
- 3/5
Stairs were crusty and stained with ink types of liquid, garbage cans and very dirty storage for them was disquieting and smelly. Property is dated but room was clean. the tv was internet download and very slow often full minute pause watching a show etc. ey noisy third floor next to a very busy 205 freeway.

- 5/5
Spacious room, clean, friendly staff. Outdated outside, but the inside is nice. In a good location.
- 4/5
Room is spacious and there is plenty of parking. You could feel the springs in the mattress though. Pool is small, which is okay, but it wasnt vwry clean and one adult on a pool float takes up half the space of the pool. It was clean except for the pool, convenient to the airport and several other destinations, and easy to fine. I wouldnt stay more than 1 night though because my back couldn't handle the mattress more than that.
- 4/5
It was okay just really old, not that clean and room was next to hey 205 I think , ladies at desk did there best checking in the internet was out in SE Portland
- 4/5
The people were very nice. Our room was clean. The breakfast was cereals, bagels, and yogurts. Its a simple place, no frills, but nice for the price and no skeevy people. Beds werefine, linens clean, and near stores.
- 3/5
Not much of a breakfast
- 1/5
The worst experience I’ve ever had. I booked this hotel for two nights thinking it would be a decent place to stay, but I couldn’t even last a few hours. I asked the front desk if they could change my room, but they refused. I left the next morning and stayed somewhere else instead. The photos online are very misleading. The actual place looks like ghetto.
- 2/5
It was okay just a hotel not very fancy
- 3/5
Lumpy and old No 2nd chair at table Tollet seat would not open all the way open seat counter top at the sink Paid for the king and suite
- 5/5
I especially enjoyed the pool. It was neat, tidy, & there were plenty of pool towels. The grab & go breakfast could be improved. Maybe add cereal bars, granola bars, dried fruit bars to the mix. There are good gluten free options available in those. Overall stay was enjoyable. The staff was friendly & helpful. I would recommend to travelers.

- 1/5
Stayed last weekend at this property front desk person seems to be also the breakfast person ran out of bagels Saturday morning and Sunday morning there were no more plates and Saturday morning there was a tray but had nothing on it the front desk lady was rude she literally slammed the cabinet door while getting the plates and literally slammed it on the counter then when the gentleman with glasses half bald went to ask hee for bagels her words were the same she told me “you guys completely wiped us out”!!!! This was Sunday morning 8-.30 am he also was gonna complain but other guests were also upset the owner manager should check the camera and Friday I complained about a lady she smoked 3x on the steps by the pool while kids were swimming pool bottom had literally a whole handful of hairs like they forgot to clean the bottom with the net! Very disappointed I will never come here ever again quality inn across the street I be staying there for now on! Room was spotless super clean was very happy with that windows have no window screen and front door was faded I stayed at room 221.
- 4/5
The rooms and property were pretty dated but other than that really nice hotel to stay at. Clean rooms, comfortable bed, free breakfast good price.
- 4/5
Well, for the price it was good and we had what we needed. I’m going off the price. We barely were there since we had a soccer tournament. If the price were higher I would say definitely not worth it. But once again for the price and not being there much it was perfect.
- 4/5
traveled down to Portland for a wedding & needed a place to stay near clackamas. Place was great! Nice renovated hotel. The room was nice and quiet, no homeless or sketch people around. I wish there was free breakfast, but luckily there was lots of surrounding stores! Nearby plaza and Walgreens. Understanding staff & if you have pets you can take up to two for no charge!😊
- 3/5
Beds were squeaky and not comfortable. Rooms are older a bit out dated and backs to the highway so it is loud. Our key lock on the outside of the door was missing parts, and didnt work from time to time, you could look into our room from the missing pieces which was scary. Rooms smelled stale. Overall clean and AC worked great. Not a bad place if youre looking to save a buck.
- 3/5
The absolute worst most horrible “breakfast” ever. What a joke.
- 3/5
I was in town for Pickathon. The Sunnyside Inn was okay. The room was efficient. Free breakfast is cereal and bagels. Coffee was always on. Clerk denied my request for late check out, after a 4 night stay. Said they were too busy. It was Monday in Clackamas!
- 1/5
Terrible hotel, i won't stay anymore
- 4/5
The smell in the room was a little off. I think it was from the cleaner they used. The staff was very very nice. The hotel is basic on bed nothing fancy but comfortable at a good price. The breakfast is good.
- 4/5
Didn't like: lack of WIFI access; no local Info available in the room; The room we were assigned needed repair work to the bathroom door - When I went to close the sliding pocket door it fell off the track- They did however give us an upgraded room. I had two rooms, one for a guest of mine, their room had a BROKEN light bulb left in the lamp it was reported immediately. This is a major safety issue --- After an hour no one had shown to replace/repair the situation. Had to place a second call and it was repaired during the 3 hours we were out visiting family though. My guest was a smoker and extremely handicapped. There was insufficient guest smoking accommodations. Smokers were suppose to go over near the unsanitary TRASH container to smoke. There is plenty of out door space where small gazebos can be constructed to accommodate guest. The small trash cans placed in a number of locations were uncovered and with the winds that happened to blow the trash was blown out and about.... Not always picked up.
- 3/5
Landscaping is dead or dying. Room is clean and large. Beds are comfortable. Would probably stay here again.
- 3/5
Staff were friendly. Room is very dated, beds are super thin, sheets are rough, carpet has many many stains, bathroom has odd layout and tolet is in a cramped little side room that is almost impossible to close tge door
- 1/5
Not the experience with the room I was looking forward. We had to wait for the front desk person because they were on a break. The mattress was uncomfortable, felt dirty, the bathroom was old, the room door was in the saddest shape, I felt that that door could be open by just pushing it with no effort, I could not sleep because of the insecurity feeling, as soon as the sun came out I was out of there.
- 4/5
Sunnyside Inn & Suites was in the best location for my stay in the area! Price was good. Property was a little rough but the room was clean. Bed was OK but needed a little attention. Air worked great! Overall, for the price it was good for the stay. Staff was excellent. I needed a needle and thread to sew on a button and they had a little kit. He was able to thread the needle and thread! I couldn't even see the tiny hole in the needle!!! He was great!
- 1/5
Easy access from highway. Room had very old spiral fluorescent light bulbs that did not work. The light in the bathroom ceiling was an empty socket. Light over the sink flickered rapidly and constantly on and off. light between beds was two different types of bulbs but only put out light less than a candle, literally. Only other light in the bedroom was a floor light with a broken switch. So no lights in there at all at night. Full house so they could not or would not change out our room for another. Breakfast was a joke. They ran out of food early into breakfast and did not restock. There were a half dozen mini muffins, two soggy English muffins, and about 5 bagels. Also 4 individual packages of cereal. Everything ran out well before breakfast time was over. They did have plenty of yogurt and juice. That is it. I will ask for a refund but doubt that will happen. I will not stay there again.
- 1/5
I would not recommend this place.
- 3/5
You get what you pay for. This place is run down and lacks standard amenities of most mid-level chain hotels. But it is was relatively clean and is tolerable for a day or 2.
- 5/5
Good for the price

No in room coffee. For older handicap adults, it would be very nice. I didn't see an elevator. Again this is just one person's opinion.

- 2/5
Friendly staff but room smelled like urine. Also bed frame was leaning. I had a reservation for 2 nights and left after the 1st night. They would not refund me for the 2nd night.

I actually really liked it. Nice pool, the rrom was pretty big and you could tell it had been renovated. Nice pool area. All of the staff was great to work with! Close to the freeway and Clakamus Town Center with shopping and restaurants. I would stay here again!

I was there 5 days and no one came for towels or to clean the room. One day someone came and removed trash while we were gone. Breakfast was very weak. I could have spent less money at a Motel VI.

I would like to be refund it was dirty broken and bad smell
- 3/5
It was in a decent area and close to each way we traveled on our visit - The room displayed in the photos from your site are not what we encountered on our stay
- 5/5
This is our 2nd stay, and we'll almost certainly be back a 3rd time and more. Great location, easy to get in and out of, with comfortable beds. The shower in our room this time was a bit run down, and the showerhead leaked more than it sprayed, but the water was hot, pressure was good, and the AC kept the room nice and cold on a blistering hot day, so I cannot complain at all given the price. Great people, too.
- 5/5
I am very satistified with what they are offering. staffs are fery friendly. And big credits to the cleaning team, they are doing awesome!
- 4/5

The key card was so complicating to use. Not the usual key card. So crazy. No wi-fi and no TV!! Terrible lumpy beds!! The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
- 1/5
checked in & went to room assigned; it wasn't cleaned & noisy facing freeway. Went back to front desk & they gave us another room - went there & it smelled like smoke & was dirty. NEVER STAY AT SUNNYSIDE INN! They are not caring for or cleaning the property.
- 2/5
It wasnt a bad stay but the pictures definitely do make it look way nicer then it is. There was a punch hole in the bathroom door. Bathroom door didnt lock. Bottom of door was cracked. The bed was super uncomfortable and springy. Big wall with a supersmall tv. It was super noisy because it was right by freeway. The ac was super loud.
- 2/5
It’s a motel; the set up is a motor inn; outside doors no hallways. The traffic is noisy. The window covering let in a lot of light. The bed is creaky and not very comfy. There’s mold along the window and there’s layers of wood that has been used to repair the window many times over the years but based on the condition they should prob just replace the window. I liked the shower because they did not update to low flow; lots of high flow hot water. The breakfast was cereal, juice, coffee, maybe toast. I did not try the outside pool but from a distance it looked nice. I give the staff high marks - everyone seemed nice and I appreciated a person at the desk at 11:30p vs some places that don’t have that. The price is right and close to where I needed to be.
- 2/5
You get what you pay for I guess
- 1/5
The receptionist staff are incompetent. I booked my son and his girl friend a room to celebrate his birthday. They wanted a relaxed night, just the two of them. When my son arrived, he was harassed and turned away due to a non-existent minimum age policy. This policy was not posted anywhere on the website nor on expedia, where I booked it. When I called the front desk, the awful receptionist talked in circles and couldn't come up with a legitimate reason for turning them away. She also stated the hotel didn't allow anyone under 18 to stay at the hotel (they're both adults but my sons girlfriend is small and looks young). Nothing but discrimination and job incompetence. Expedia found in my favor and promptly refunded my money. Unacceptable. We will never return and have made sure to tell anyone who will listen never to rent a room from this establishment.
- 3/5
The fresh coat of paint helped the appearance.
- 1/5
The outside looks much nicer than the inside. The bathroom was painted blood red and the light in the toilet kept going on and off by itself when we I was in there. FREAKING CREEPY! Furniture was badly scuffed and damaged and second hand. Beds were not very comfortable. Long walk and upstairs with bags, not super convenient. Listing claimed there was breakfast but when we went down we only saw coffee... and it was out. We won't be back.
- 3/5
Arrived to a musty smelling/dirty room.
- 4/5
The staff was awesome -friendly and helpful. However, the breakfast offered was less than our usual "continental breakfast" and the room was adequate but needed some updating or a little more decor. The beds and pillows were comfortable.
- 3/5
first room was cell-like spare and the bathroom lights didn't work. They moved me to another room that was much nicer but still basic and it was clean. breakfast was cereal, toast/bagel. yogurt
- 3/5
Actually, I booked the eating hotel
- 3/5
Room was on the smaller size with an oversized bathroom. Bathroom was dirty.
- 2/5
No bedspread. One tiny thin blanket. Only 3 pillows. No lamps so to read you had to leave the wall sconces on and disturb your bed mate. HORRIBLE bed. Hard but not firm mattress. Every time he rolled over the entire bed shook. NO ice bucket and none available when we asked for one. No plug for the tub drain. We like to soak in the bath. Shabby place in general. Appeared clean, but hard to tell since so so run down in general. But super inexpensive, so that is on me. You get what you pay for, but even Clackamas Inn was nicer and it is next to an adult video store and probably in the same price range.
- 1/5
It was dirty falling apart. The outlet in the room was falling out of the wall. The room was dark and the lamps did not work. I would stay as far away from this hotel if I was you. We will never go there again. In fact we never stayed there because it was so bad.
- 2/5
Remote to the TV didn't work. A hole in the bathroom door.
- 2/5
Okay, itchy sheets
- 2/5
They had a stupid setup for the television. You had to try and point at a cable box under a table in the corner of the room. All the outlets in the room were worn out, so loose that we had to hold the plug on cord in the socket while trying to blow dry our hair. Looks like they are trying to remodel. They have a ways to go.
- 4/5
It's a reasonably affordable & convenient stay. It's nothing fancy but a good place for the night.
- 5/5
The room was ckean and the front desk was very welcoming. We also went in the pool and it was nice and clean
- 3/5
Did not like bed. You could feel the springs of the mattress.

Old building with decent decoration. Not a very good mattress, but a fridge and microwave and everything clean and in order. Good parking and access to rooms. Good for the cost.

The latch to the door was missing. Just a small dead bolt which could be easily compromised. A little concerning.... Other wise it was an economical choice for a good night's sleep.

It also needed to be cleaned up outdoors. There was trash around and a lot of weeds.

Hotel was pretty rundown. The rooms were clean, but very dated and all the furniture was worn down and mismatched. Bed was super uncomfortable and the fan was super loud. Outside, the landscaping was unkept and there was garbage. Parking lot had homeless people hanging out.

Room was clean and service was friendly, but stay itself was not comfortable. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The satellite box was in the corner under the table, and you have to get out of bed to change the channel. Very annoying.

Drug addicts running around a pimp with a knife, trying to threaten people would not stay here at all

There were ants at the sink counter and bathroom around the tub area. No matter how many time you get rid of them they keep coming back. The air conditioner also had a musty smell whenever you turn it on so it definitely hasn’t been cleaned in a while. The TV also didn’t work.

Nothing fancy, but great basic motel. Staff was friendly, and guests were courteous. It was conveniently located and easy to access the highway.
