The Abernathy of Clemson

The hotel was beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet it was. We were in town for a birthday party and didn’t realize the hotel is right across from Clemson Stadium. It’s the perfect location if you’re attending a game or event there. We stayed in a King Full room and absolutely loved it. It was spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I would highly recommend it, especially if you’re traveling with a group and need a little extra space. There is a bar on-site, although we didn’t have a chance to check it out during our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again!

The bar/restaurant was only opened one night and the room service was subpar. The location is excellent and the property was clean, but this is a no frills hotel.

Absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms were extremely spacious and front desk staff was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

Everyone was so nice. Especially the bar tender. Very clean. Great location. No restaurant. There are some breakfast options but no real menu for lunch and dinner.

Large comfortable and quiet rooms with fridge, microwave and breakfast table which is also good to work at. Convenient location just across the street from campus and a reasonable walk to downtown.

I wanted to get coffee upon waking up in the morning. I went down in the morning and ther person behind the counter told me she needed to finish counting the drawer before she could help me. So I needed to wait there about 10-15 mins until the drawer was counted. Seems like the customer should be served first, pause the drawer counting until after.

We were in Clemson for a college tour and picked the Abernathy due to its location. It was super close and convenient to both the college in the downtown area. Staff was super friendly and the room was extremely clean.

Only used the fridge and coffee maker, so paid no attention to other kitchen type ammenities. Loved the space and Catherine at the desk was charming, kind and so helpful!

Great staff who demonstrates true southern hospitality. Five minute walk to campus and 10 minutes to downtown - could not be me more convenient. Also cozy bar allowed us to relax after a long day on the road. Nice to see them hiring Clemson students as my daughter who was there for a college tour got some great insights on life at Clemson.

The property was very clean and lovely. Hanging out downstairs after the basketball game was wonderful. The bar was closed but Cheryl (the front desk manager) was very gracious in making sure all overnighters were taken care of whether they were warm or needed some sort of drink. Room is large and clean. Lights from outside shine in and there are no blackout curtains. Otherwise great!

Great hotel with spacious rooms. The staff were very pleasant and friendly. The only criticism was the WiFi. Very unstable, low speed and dropped frequently. Every hotel should offer high speed reliable internet even if there’s a cost.

Front desk manager on duty was awesome! She was nice, provided great information and helped with extra sheets and blanket for blow up mattress. Im traveling with my two teenagers and everyone wants their own bed. Spacious, comfortable and nice! Highly recommend!

Phenomenal hotel - would stay again many times! Staff went above and beyond for us & they checked all of the boxes. Rooms were comfortable and spacious, bar and food were wonderful, couldn’t ask for anything more! Also great location!!!

The staff members we interacted with were very friendly and helpful, so no complaints there whatsoever, but we were less than satisfied with everything else about the stay. Our room wasn't clean to the standard it should have been. The sheets for the pullout sofa were soiled and stained, as well as the pillows, and many of the towels were also dirty. Worst was the padding under the fitted sheet on the bed. It was absolutely covered in hair, dirt, debris. It was gross! We were also kept up late into the night because of the people above us. I can usually ignore those things, but in this case it was impossible so no one really slept. This was supposed to be a fun getaway for my son's birthday, but it wasn't the best experience, particularly given the price!

The staff was extremely friendly. The lady that greeted me when my family arrived that night was great and friendly. The two ladies (forgive me I don't remember names) were great as well. They were also extremely accommodating by allowing us an extra hour before we checked out. Also, one staff member helped me take some pictures and completed connected with my daughter! Lastly, if you are staying for a visit to Clemson, this is prime location!

Hotel was great however upon leaving we saw a roach crawling in the lobby area. Otherwise stay was good.

The perfect option with super close proximity to Clemson University

It was a great stay!

The majority of the staff were welcoming, friendly and wonderful. The bartender and service the evening of Feb 26th was awful. He could not have made us feel less welcomed. We stood in the bar area for a solid 5+ minutes, waiting for the bartender to finish chatting with someone who was working on her laptop. When he finally acknowledged us, we asked for the food & drink menu. It was at 9:30pm, just after the Clemson basketball game. We were told, “food’s done at 9”. The bar and cafe/small plates is advertised to be open 4-10pm or later. He didn’t ask if we wanted a drink; he just said what he said and then went back behind the bar. Everything at the Abernathy was great. The male bartender that night did not represent the hotel well at all, in our opinion.

I loved that the room key was a Poker chip tied into the Tigers “All In “moto!

Wonderful stay: friendly staff, room was spacious, with nice features, details and furniture. Bed was comfortable with nice bedding. Large bathroom and the whole room was super clean. Very close to the university and the stadium. Highly recommend a great experience.

It was in walking distance to everything. They had Clemson and Duke bakery cookies on our bed when we arrived. Staff was wonderful. Tea, the bartender, was so lovely and friendly. Great experience.

Love, love, love the Abernathy!! We only live an hour from Clemson but we go there for quick getaways just to stay at this hotel. Friendly staff, big clean rooms with great amenities. Never had anything but a great experience there.

The stay was great. The staff was kind of weird friendly. They just took service with a smile a little too seriously. They were awesome, don’t get me wrong, but at any moment I thought I was going to be in the movie SMILE where you got the “demon” and ended up blah blah blah….. 10/10.

It was wonderful.

We had a late check in and as anticipated, no food or beverage available. Front desk clerk was not the epitome of southern charm; no alternative options suggested. It was a great room but when I asked for a later check out since I got in at 11:30 pm she said she couldn’t accommodate us and to ask someone else after 8 am. We just packed up early, went on our tour and hit the road. I’d stay again if I were coming in earlier. There should be a mini-bar in room for drinks and snacks since there was no floor vending machine either.

Great find in Clemson! Close to campus and walkable to many shops and restaurants. Free on-site parking. Friendly staff: front desk, bartender and housekeeper were all wonderful. Rooms are spacious, clean and functional. Would highly recommend and stay here again!

Maintenance started remodeling the room above us at 6:00am on a Sunday. (Remodel room 311). Did not make for a good morning.

The beds were atrociously, uncomfortable, and even though the staff had come in to clean, there was still garbage on the floor when they left. Not necessarily garbage but pieces of paper toweling I’m assuming that was from cleaning or try to clean.

The room are large comfortable and clean. The hotel is located within view of the clock tower at Clemson

I was a bit surprised that the front staff was not at their desk. Both times at checkout and check in I had to call them from their side office. At check in. I wasn’t explained everything. I had to ask questions.

Property was convenient and comfortable. A deep cleaning is needed as there were stains on shower floor and other area of the room. Air conditioner cycling on and off through the night was disturbing to sleep. Layout of the room was nice with couch/chairs and table for additional seating.

I gave this property a one star because I always pull the fitted sheet off the bed to check for bed bugs and as i did that the mattress pad had splatters of blood on it. Needless to say I was grossed out. The front desk girl was able to track down housekeepers and they changed it out so i give the service a 4 star for fixing it. I just couldn’t believe someone put it on the bed when it was obvious there was blood on it. They gave us two free breakfasts. It’s super close to campus and Esso which was great.

Quick stopever at Clemson and decided that a good price was worth the try si we stayed at The Abernathy. Wonderful property that was quiet, comfortable, convenient and very nice. Will definately stay again when possible (not football weekends of course).

Very helpful and pleasant staff; extremely clean; huge rooms. I would prefer a continental breakfast buffet to the current setup (ordering from an extremely limited menu at a counter in the lobby) but other than that, absolutely no complaints. Highly recommend.
