Reviews
The hotel is undergoing renovations, which is both a positive and negative aspect according to the reviews. Guests generally appreciate the updated decor and historic charm, but some have experienced inconveniences due to the ongoing construction. The staff is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness.
- Recently renovated with historic charm
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Ongoing construction causing inconveniences
- Some rooms lack basic amenities like phones and coffee makers

Great historic building in the heart of Colorado Springs. Extra large rooms provided lots of space to spread out in. Excellent food options.

Valet guys - SO AWESOME!!!! Patrick & Mark really are helpful and know how to make you feel welcome, & which direction to head to see the town (even if it is in the alley right next to them) ! I felt these two - especially Patrick, went above and beyond!! Was a bit disappointed in the coffee staff - 3 or more workers, but it seems only the young lady that had her arm in a sling was carrying the brunt of the work, while others seemed to stand around & chat. We did enjoy our stay, & the friendly folks - we just might go elsewhere for coffee next time...

Staff was super helpful

I've stayed here multiple times, highly recommend. Close to some great restaurants and bars.

It was fabulous, the hotel...

Great property - convenient, great amenities and a great staff. Highly recommend!

the room did not include a chair for relaxing, only a desk chair

If i could give you 100 stars, I would. Lulu and Jill are so professional and helpful on directing us around town.

Everything was great. The bathroom situation is a little odd. You need to be comfortable with anyone in the room being in view of you while you shower or use the sink as there is no wall dividing the sink/shower area from the room. There is no mirror by the sink except for a small vanity mirror on the side of the sink and a large wall mirror outside the bathroom area. The shower itself is great and pretty but it has no privacy.

From the moment we checked in, we were impressed by the property but what stood out was the friendly staff (esp Lulu!). Great location, easy to access and really enjoyed our stay!

A beautiful historic hotel with amazing ambience and proximity to great options for tourism, dining and relaxation. Not haunted but feels like it should be. Breakfast, dinner and entertainment all located in the lobby. Would stay here again.
- 3/5
Room we had was sort of the typical “old hotel trying to stay relevant on a budget”, so it is nice enough, but has old beds and creaky old furniture and odd layouts. We stayed there for an event at the World Arena and would stay there again.

The people at this place are what make it "Exceptional". The building is fabulous and the rooms were wonderful. It even had a large soaking tub. But again the staff are all amazingly dedicated to exceptional service. Cost of the items such as croissants and bagels in the lobby. Lack of coffee maker and microwave in room was somewat annoying. Coffee availability in the lobby is 6AM to 3PM which for a travelling person is pretty narrow.

This is truly a superb property. Staff is extremely friendly, beautifully appointed rooms, great bar and restaurant. Location within walking distance to restaurants and shopping downtown. If you are in Colorado Springs, this hotel is a must stay!
- 3/5
Room and bathroom were separated by a huge empty room. A pointless room hallway that made the room we got alot smaller. No bench or anything to sit down and put our shoes on at least. It was an empty space that didn’t have to be there and could have been part of the room. Instead it was cramped because of it, the bed taking up the actual “bedroom” it’s a beautiful hotel but pricey and very cramped and smelled really bad.

A hot tub would be nice but overall it was a great experience
- 5/5
The staff was absolutely amazing! Room was super nice, the experience was second to none. I wil be going again. Thanks for the great experience!
- 5/5
Warm woods, art deco meets midcentury modern style. Lovely historic building. We loved our stay at the Mining Exchange! Their Oro Restaurant was amazing
- 4/5
Club level is not worth the extra expense as they advertised photos on their website that include sour patch kids, Swedish fish, M&Ms and so on but in reality you’ll find craisens and pretzels. Not worth the club level pricing.
- 5/5
The bar was great! Jill checked us in and was fantastic!!
- 5/5
We stayed in a suite and it was beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable. The location of this property is amazing and within a block or two of fantastic bars and restaurants.

An exceptional hotel (and value),

We love this hotel. Great value for the accomodations. Always clean! Love the soundproof rooms and water pressure in the shower. We also love dining onsite.
- 5/5
If I could design my own hotel room, it would look exactly like where we stayed. Such a gorgeous hotel
- 5/5
Tom and the check in staff was amazing.
- 5/5
I cannot rave enough about this hotel! I am so happy that I chose The Mining Exchange. The history, vibe, staff, rooms, decor, coffee, all of it! Too notch! Jill at the front desk is amazing, also! Every need or want we had was met! This hotel did not disappoint. I will be returning!

Loved this stay! Vibes were great, so was the staff and the room!
- 5/5
Wonderful experience !
- 5/5
One of the best hotels and downtown locations we've ever stayed at as a family! The food, service, and rooms were all top notch at this historic 120 year old building. We loved the art gallery and vault in the cafe. Can't wait to come back!
- 5/5
Clean and unique place to stay. Employees are very kind too.
- 5/5
The room was so amazing! Music was playing on a vintage radio, the restroom was amazing loved the shower! Overall best hotel I’ve stayed at and definitely will stay again!
- 5/5
Spotless room, beautiful decor. A great place to stay.
- 5/5
Amazing spot! The design and vibe was excellent.
- 3/5
Hotel was definitely renovated and everything about it was good. Only and major issue was that we found underwear under the sheets, giving us the indication that the cleaning crew didn’t change the sheets and just did the bed. Super disappointed with that.
- 5/5
Lovely room, comfortable.
- 5/5
Beautiful atmosphere
- 5/5
Fantastic hotel with on the spot staff. From check in, to the end of our stay we had excellent service, with pristine rooms. The bar in the lobby is a well curated area, the textures, and the collection of eclectic sitting areas made every night fun and relaxing. You won’t find a better cup of coffee in town, and we can also highly recommend the morning sweet rolls!
- 5/5
Yes and yes!
- 5/5
Great downtown location. Staff were absolutely wonderful. Clean, cozy rooms. Super fast valet.
- 5/5
Jill was amazing at the front desk! The bed was awesome and the room was super cool. Would definitely return and recommend.
- 2/5
The thermostat was not working in our 2nd room. Ordered food to take to the room, made it to the room only to find out they did not put the lid on the soup, and it spilled all over the rest of the meal. They do not have change at their front desk to break large bills to tip for their valet drivers. As a platinum member, we were not offered an upgrade upon check-in. Dissapointg at best!
- 5/5
Great hotel through and through.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and rooms.
- 1/5
Staff was super friendly. However, the first night and next day we didn’t have a toilet that worked and constantly ran all night. Finally got it resolved later in the afternoon the second night. Just to have a heating unit fan keep you up all night, every night. Then the fridge decided it wanted to go out and we ended up unplugging it and loosing everything we had in it. Parking credits from Expedia package never applied. Cute hotel though. Avoid room 254!!!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Everything was great. No negatives. Glad we stayed for 2 nights. Nice town as well.
- 5/5
All of the above! It was beyond expectations.
- 4/5
Hotel is amazing! Beds were very hard and thermo didn’t work but loved the vibe and the staff were great!!

Beautiful remodel of historic building in downtown Colorado Springs. Super friendly and helpful staff. Spacious rooms with interesting decor and features. Great coffee bar in the lobby. Walkable to many restaurants.

Room was spectacular! Staff was Amazing. I am so happy I booked here!!
- 5/5
Old charm, big rooms with high ceiling, easy check-in, good location, good service by all of the staff
- 2/5
Cleanish room, usual soap/water marks from previous customers, dead fly at the window sill. Lulu at check in was friendly. Room refrigerator made a super loud ringing noise at 1am while we were asleep that woke us up, thinking the fire alarm went off. It scared us. Couldn’t figure out where the noise was coming from initially. The sound went on for about 10 min. Then thought the sound was construction. Reached out to front desk and they told us to unplug the fridge since there was no one there to fix the issue. The fridge outlet plug was behind a heavy wooden desk that two females couldn’t move in the middle of the night. The super loud noise stopped eventually but it continued to hum at a lower volume. It completely woke us up and the rest of the night was uncomfortable. Other than that, hotel was quiet. Lobby was cute. Ate at the Golden Hour and food was good, service was good. Coffee cafe was good.
- 5/5
The staff was wonderful too.
- 5/5
There were a few small asthetics that stood out because the rest of the room was so impeccable. There were paint touch ups needed around the temp control box and in the bathroom. But everything else was absolute perfection!
- 5/5
The rooms were fantastic. So pretty! Lobby was very nice too...
- 5/5
Everything was great.
- 4/5
Cons: no bathroom mirror at the sink other than a small handheld one and no privacy divider between the bathroom and main part of the room - I guess they wanted natural light to reach the bathroom shower and sink more than for someone showering or brushing teeth to have privacy? … a/c and refrigerator noise was extremely loud (refrigerator must have been going out it was not a normal noise) and kept us up through the night. Staff didn’t respond to complaint. Coffee from blk mgk in lobby is flavorless and their limited am pastry options are mediocre. Limited metered street side parking is available or else must walk to other downtown garages, which isn’t reliably convenient if traveling with a lot of luggage.
- 5/5
Staff was so nice and the room was very clean
- 4/5
The room was great, bed excellent comfort. But no towels for 2 on arrival. Shower was great except one dispenser was empty and another was stuck and not working. Refrigerator woke us up both nights. The staff was very attentive and dropped off hand towels for an army, just no washcloths. They need a little polish but it's up and coming in my book.
- 5/5
We used it for an Army Reunion!
- 5/5
Amazing hotel! Everything exceeded our expectations — from the beautiful rooms to the exceptional service. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be coming back!
- 5/5
Breakfast was delicious ! It was the best breakfast and hotel of our entire Colorado trip. All the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed the drinks , food, and music at the bar.
- 5/5
I didn’t try the food but the vibes were great, clean, and staff were lovely
- 5/5
Beautiful boutique hotel with lovely rooms, a great restaurant, coffee shop, and arts scene. Fabulous for adults who are looking for a sophisticated hotel downtown!
- 5/5
Loved the eclectic decor.
- 5/5
Staff were professional and beyond friendly. They were proud to share their knowledge and history of the property.
- 5/5
Clean room. Nicely appointed.
- 5/5
Feels like home. Love the renovations and spending time in the spacious and welcoming lobby feels like a party. Exceptional bar and great coffee with very friendly service. We will be back
- 5/5
Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel with a lot of charm, and perfect location close to all the restaurants and bars. Great drinks at the bar. Attentive, helpful staff. I wish the room had a coffee maker rather than having to come down first thing in the morning and pay for drip coffee.
- 4/5
I was pretty disappointed with my stay at the Mining Exchange. We were not offered a room upgrade and in fact we were put into a handicapable access room that I did not want nor did I ask for. The hotel charged me for a resort fee even though Expedia said all the fees were included. It was $27. There were absolutely no resort amenities as the spa is under renovation. The soaps in the room smell like really cheap cologne. It’s pretty awful. The conditioner has “Cilantro” as its fragrance. Who picked this stuff? It’s pretty bad. I found a hair in my bagel in the morning while trying to eat breakfast at Blk Magic. The staff were very apologetic. It was pretty nasty. I was very underwhelmed with the hotel overall.
- 5/5
Great hotel and would stay again
- 5/5
Everything from the service to a comfortable bed and bath supplies was perfect. Beautiful recent remodel, too.
- 5/5
We love this hotel and have stayed here six times in the last two years. The rooms are remarkably quiet showers are huge and the decor is fantastic.
- 5/5
Every stay here is perfect, the rooms are so well – appointed and comfortable, very clean, and the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful.
- 5/5
Nice
- 5/5
Excellent guest service/relations. Unique, beautiful decor. Great, walkable location.
- 5/5
S tier worth the price
- 5/5
Front desk and valet staff were very prompt and professional. The staff at the coffee bar left a lot to be desired, unfriendly and mumbled. The rooms were lovely as was the decor throughout the hotel. Location was perfect.
- 5/5
The newly renovated room and the soaking bathtub was nice.
- 5/5
This is a fabulous hotel in the heart of downtown. Classic buildinhotel with great staffg that was converted into a five star
- 5/5
Nice staff, great location.
- 5/5
enjoyed our stay
- 3/5
The hotel was really neat. The staff was wonderful. However, this stay will be more remembered by the things that didn’t work. First, we were unable to book anything at the spa because we couldn’t get the website to work. Then, the shower light was out (they replaced it promptly), finally the mini-fridge made a loud grinding sound when it turned on. By that point, we were just tired, and unplugged it for the duration of our stay. I’m sure they would have fixed it promptly. But we were just kind of done. Also, my wife has pretty bad allergies, and while they accommodated our requests for the room, I think something about the age of the building got to her. Every time we walked into our room, her allergies were awful until we left. We did think it was a really neat place. However, we can’t say we’d stay there again or recommend it to friends.
- 5/5
Location was what worked for us. Walkable to the areas we wanted to visit. History of the hotel and the decor on point. Bed, nice. Large shower. Everything worked as it should have. Strong drinks at the bar. Part of our 9 day, 6 stay trip and was great compared to our first 2 stays. Worth the stay!
- 5/5
Great location. Fun property.
- 3/5
- First issue was the noise. If you aren't a heavy sleeper and you have a room near the inner building alleyway, good luck. There is an EDM club that plays extremely loud music until 3am. I had to sleep with headphones. The staff tried to accommodate, but there were no rooms available to switch. - The parking situation is bad. You have to hope for a metered street spot in front of the hotel, pay $49 a night for valet, or use a parking garage down the block. If you are handicapped or have trouble walking longer distance, I highly suggest somewhere else or be willing to pay the valet. - Originally, when I booked my hotel, the deposit was supposed to be $192 according to hotels.com . The hotel charged me $222 upon me booking. Total booking was supposed to be $694, but by the time I was in the hotel I had been charged over $1000. After multiple phone calls with hotels.com and the Mining Exchange, I finally had someone explain they charge $125 per night incidental up front, then the charge falls off later. I am not sure why over the month leading up to it, no one could explain that.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent. Rooms were beautiful. One gentleman was gracious to provide a small area outside the hotel which simulated green space for our dogs with astroturf. How accommodating!
- 5/5
Great location! Very kind staff.
- 5/5
Nice hotel with a fun history.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved the interior design of the hotel!
- 5/5
Great stay at an historic hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. We've stayed multiple times. Always good.
- 5/5
Amazing staff and beautiful hotel! From check in to checkout the staff was great.
- 4/5
A great landing base for our time in Colorado with easy access to Pike’s Peak and Garden of the Gods.
- 5/5
The room was a little small but we know it’s a pretty old building. Everything was very clean and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
- 2/5
What I disliked was my dealings with the front desk staff. My initial check in was a mess. I booked a 2 queen room for my dad and myself. Check in at first was easy, until I had gotten into the room and discovered they put us into a single king. So, after pushing my dad in a wheelchair and full of luggage, I had to go downstairs again to get this sorted out only to find out the hotel was sold out and they don't have any queen rooms until 2 nights later. Needless to say, a full days worth of travel with a wheelchair I was unhappy. After showing them my travel arrangements with Expedia showed what I booked is an error that they made and verbally acknowledged. They transferred us to the Antlers down the street for 2 nights and covered our faire with a $50 gift certificate to their in-house restaurant. Problem is, the letter they gave us and to the Antlers said 1 night, not 2, so upon check out at the Antlers, we had to pay our second night. Got it sorted out and refunded with this hotel and upgraded into a 2 queen suite and an early check in. GREAT! However, we find that there is a hold of $500 from the Mining Exchange which interfered with travel funds and a ~$55 charge of an "Urban Amenity fee" on our card, which they're claiming to Expedia that it is just an incidental. We'll see.
- 5/5
Great modern but historic property in the heart of Colorado Springs
- 5/5
Amazing atmosphere and sense of history. Great amenities and awesome location.
- 5/5
10/10 would definitely stay again!
- 4/5
Valet did not inform us that car had arrived while we were waiting for it. Air conditioner was very loud in room 227.
- 2/5
Two separate $100 holds were placed for incidentals, even though I only stayed one night. A $185 hold was added “in case I wanted to buy a drink at the bar,” which I did not. I was also charged the full price of the room. I was told this was because I booked through Expedia, and the hotel was holding the charge until they were paid by Expedia. I was assured these would only be pending charges and would fall off, but they have not.
- 5/5
The food was really good and the staff very attentive.
- 5/5
Hotel was atmosphere and decor was excellent. Food options were great and there are several more that are in the area. Would definitely stay again. Jill was awesome!!
- 5/5
Loved the beautiful décor and the super comfy bed. The place was spotless, and we’d be happy to stay again!
- 5/5
beautiful rooms and lobby
- 5/5
Nice hotel in great downtown location! Very nice hotel and room was great with a great view and comfortable bed. We had a few drinks at the bar with great service as well. Front host staff was exceptional.

Check in was easy and staff was very knowledgeable and kind

- 5/5
Unique hotel, as a brilliant renovation of a historical site. A nice lobby with historical feel, comfortable and inviting furniture, space, lighting, and vibe for adults, including coffee bar and live music happy hour.
- 5/5
Great location and friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Property is very unique and quite popular. Always fun.
- 5/5
Everything was perfection!
- 4/5
The hotel was very comfortable, clean and elegant. Not being able to adjust the temperature in the rooms is problematic especially during the hot summer nights. We also experienced there not being a lot of bartenders or wait staff to serve in a reasonable amount of time. We would give it another chance though.
- 5/5
Loved this quirky gem! Recently renovated and beautifully decorated. The lobby is a great place to just hang out. Conveniently located. They even have a crystal concierge!
- 5/5
We had a problem with the cleanliness of our first room but hotel staff were very gracious and accommodating and moved us to another room right away which we found to be very clean and comfortable. The gym was great with one treadmill, one arc trainer, and two stationary bikes. There was a rack of dumbbells that started with 5-lb pairs and went up in increments of five pounds ending at 50-lb pairs. There was an adjustable bench plus another inclined bench for ab-work. In one corner there was a cyber workout station with options for lat pull-downs, chest press, etc. There was just enough room to do a modified floor workout. There’s a parking garage less than 1/2 a block from the hotel entrance that charges $1/hour, which felt very reasonable for city parking. We were pleased to find an art exhibit along the hotel’s back stair case.
- 4/5
The decor is great. Our Room was huge, very spacious, which you do not get in most hotels/
- 5/5
Great!
- 5/5
Just in town for 1 night but this hotel was the perfect place. Clean, friendly, accommodating for an early check in.
- 4/5
Location excellent. Parking - pay $50 per day for valet or park on the street at a meter. Hotel common areas lovely with a great location. Our room was a bit disappointing. Very dark and zero view from the window other than a brick wall. I’d stay again but would avoid that room. Staff were friendly and helpful
- 5/5
We liked that it was close to restaurants. We had a corner suite and it was very roomy, quiet and the customer service was top notch! Enjoyed our stay and the wonderful staff! Thank you!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at The Mining Exchange. Historical stays are the best. We loved the high ceilings in our room and the creative touches throughout our room and lobby. Our room was so quiet, we never heard another door close or anyone talking in the hallway or other rooms. Highly recommend a stay here. My only complaint is the customer service could have been better from the front desk attendants, it’s pretty sad when you walk in right by the front desk and no one greets you. Two people working, no customers, and no one could speak.
- 5/5
We really like this place, this was our 2nd time staying and it was just as lovely.
- 5/5
Excellent staff
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Keep it going. Pay attention to details like clean corners in rest rooms, dirty carpets, etc.
- 5/5
Unique, quaint hotel. Built in the early 1900s, enjoyed the old architecture and area around the hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful
- 3/5
Many Inconveniences. No coffee in the rooms.
- 5/5
convenient great coffee shop
- 5/5
Charming gem in downtown Colorado Springs. Beautifully decorated and very comfortable room. The staff was super helpful especially Lisa and Mariah. We would definitely come back. Parking in the City Garage across the was perfect for us and very inexpensive as compared to valet.
- 5/5
This hotel was awesome! The location was perfect for walking anywhere in downtown COS. The guest rooms were roomy, clean and well appointed. Bathroom was huge for a hotel bathroom. The staff was friendly and attentive. Would stay there again and highly recommend as a great value!
- 5/5
This hotel is one of the cutest and nicest hotels I have stayed in. It gives a boutique type feel with safe that are beyond nice. The BLK magic coffee shop in the lobby was great!!!
- 5/5
Expensive to park via valet so use the parking garage 1 block away. The hotel was nice and clean and the people that work there were very nice as well.
- 4/5
No breakfast was included and had to pay parking and urban amenities fee…
- 5/5
Wonderful staff, great accommodations, good food. Terrific experience.
- 5/5
Loved this place will be back someday!!!
- 4/5
This is a beautiful hotel and I loved the staff. The room was amazing, but because of the eco-friendliness of the hotel… The room was too hot to sleep in. The air conditioning really didn’t cool it down very much at all. The only other things were little. Because of the size of the bathroom and the entire room, there needs to be at least two more trash cans. Also, when I was going to try and order room service, a menu didn’t come up at all. But like I said, I truly enjoyed my stay and would do it all over again. The absolute best location I could have found and a really beautiful hotel.

It was the perfect spot for downtown. I really did not need to move the car. Everything wasnin walking distances
- 5/5
It was a nice room.
- 3/5
They skipped my housekeeping, don’t have phones in the room to call the front desk, don’t have coffee machines, small bathroom counter area.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Good service.
- 5/5
What a unique hotel. It was a beautiful space and well decorated.
- 4/5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mining Exchange. Our room was beautiful (loved the high ceiling and fancy wall paper!) and the bed was very comfortable. Most importantly, we loved how quiet the HVAC system was. The staff members we encountered were all pleasant and cordial. We would definitely stay at the Mining Exchange again.

Beautifully restored historic building. Great lobby space that was full of people whenever I walked through. I had 2 issues with the staff that were disappointing. Housekeeping was in my room changing the bed before I checked out and they had packed up my toiletries and taken the towels. Seemed like a miscommunication, but it was uncomfortable. When I went to check out, the front desk person was on the phone for a long time and never acknowledged me even though I was standing right in front of them.

Jill the concierge did an incredible job helping us with each of our needs! The entire staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. The property itself was absolutely stunning, and the whole experience felt elevated and luxurious. We loved getting to use the gorgeous lobby as a space for lounging with coffee or late night chats when the bar opened. The location is perfect for walking around downtown, and parking was very easy. Overall, we were blown away and absolutely hope to stay here again some day.

Will be our go to property in Colorado Springs. Beautiful hotel, great location, attentive staff. Only negative is the resort fee which seems to be commonplace now but for a property like this exploitive.
