Breakfast is very light

Continental breakfast was great. Rooms were kept clean when we arrived. Only stayed two nights didn’t get a chance to use the pool. Nice big tv with lots of channels.

The Franca staff was very helpful and wonderful since we arrived very early in the day. They were very accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was very Continental. They have complimentary coffee all day long. We did not use the swimming pool but it did look nice. The only comment my husband has is that the remote control was not user friendly, as we had a hard time finding local channels. We love to stay and would stay there again. 😄

We stayed for a night. The staff were nice and friendly. The room was clean, but air conditioning machines are loud and have the clicking sound every 5 minutes. The bed sounds when you sleep on it and you move or turn your body. Just couldn’t get a good sleep.

The room was clean. The staff was friendly. My only issue was the door to the room. There was a lot of space between the door and the floor. This caused us to hear everything outside the door especially in the morning.

The staff was great, very friendly. It was clean and trash free in the parking lot. The hot tub jets really didn't work and the water smelled a little weird but we rinsed our suits out and showered afterwards. Breakfast was good and a nice variety. I will definitely stay here again. Great price point for a single mom's budget.

I stayed here for one night only because it was close to my friend's hotel and because it was relatively inexpensive. It did the job, but it was hardly first-rate. For one thing, it's more of a motel, not a hotel. If you're on the second floor, you'll be walking up stairs to get there. The WiFi in my room was about 2Mbps, so it was pretty much unusable. There were no outlets at the desk to plug my laptop in so I ended up using it on battery. The remote control on the TV was not very responsive. The A/C at full blast took a while to cool down the room. And the continental breakfast was kind of anemic, although I guess you can't complain too much about something that's free. But the bed was big and comfortable, the shower was nice, and the staff was helpful. For the most part the place is clean and well-kept, just don't expect luxury accommodations. One other thing: The street this place is on is a one-way street going east. So if you want to get anywhere to the west, you're going to have to go east, make two turns, head west on another street and make two more turns.

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The shower did not provide hot water, which was a major inconvenience. Additionally, the noise level was poor throughout the night. I could hear car alarms going off in the parking lot as well as constant street traffic, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Overall, the lack of hot water and excessive noise negatively impacted my experience.

I was greeted by a most wonderful woman at the front desk. Calm peaceful and caring. This property is safe and secure. Not due to security but by a wonderful presence of peace and order. Each room has a little surprise. It maybe a toothbrush kit, a comb or nail file. It’s the little things they care about. Thank you.

Cute hotel rooms really clean smell like Fabulosa when you were in the room. They need to add some towel holders in the area where the bathroom sink is. Continental breakfast not so great little mini muffins from Costco Etc. Yes I would stay there again.

I stayed at the hotel for the OC Marathon weekend. The hotel was extremely accommodating to the runners. They set up breakfast a couple hours early for us. I have stayed at this hotel every year for this race and I will continue to stay there in the future.

Honestly it was Terrible. I’m a single mom of 4 kids and I saved money all year for this trip. The pics were deceiving. The staff was rude to me. Breakfast was sugar and crap and when I asked for milk refill the lady was annoyed with me. Ac didn’t work well and phone didn’t turn on at all. No ice in the machines even though we checked it twice a day. When I went to front desk, nobody was there to help me. I wanted to cry at the whole waste of money

The staff were all friendly, check-in was quick and easy, and the room was excellent- very clean, comfortable, and plenty of space with two queen beds. We ordered from the room service menu for dinner and the portions and quality were equal to the costs. Will definitely stay at this hotel again when we’re back in town!

We were greeted by a friendly and helpful front desk agent, she even gave my daughter a nice candle gift for her B-day. It went downhill from there, the beds had glitter and make-up (not from us) on the bedspreads, pillowcases, and sheets. We checked in a bit later (7 pm) so we just dealt with it without complaining. The next morning a new desk agent was there, who played some kind of soap opera at a loud volume, right next to where everyone was having their continental breakfast. After we ate and we're heading to the beach for the day, I asked the agent if we could get all new and clean bedding because of the glitter and make-up, and she said we would be charged extra! I said it was not from us, and she changed her mind about charging us. She then said she had a complaint from the elderly couple staying in the room below us that we were stomping around all night, and if we had complaints again this evening, she would end our stay! For one thing, both rooms were connected directly to the main stairway (no elevators) which had people stomping up and down all Friday night until at least three the next morning. I informed her that we were all in bed by 10:30 pm, and my 50 pound daughter and 105 pound wife were not stomping around, and I had done quite a bit of driving so I was resting. The hot tub is lukewarm at best, the decor is slowly deteriorating, and the location is subpar. I do not know how this place has a 9 rating on hotels.com. Do yourself a favor, don't stay here.

We’ve stayed here before and had a good stay then, but this time we were in a room with a huge gap between the door and floor. I had to put something to block out the light coming in from the nearly one inch gap, We also had no hot water for showers in the morning. That was a major bummer. I’m not sure I would choose to stay here again because of this recent experience, even though the renovations are nice and staff is lovely. This makes me sad. I was hoping for a better stay.

Room was clean. Beds were a little firm for my taste. Staff was friendly. Stay included breakfast assorted pastries, coffee, juice, cereal, oatmeal and fruits. They had pool. Others seemed to be enjoying. I didn’t get a chance to use it. Hotel was close to freeway. Once doors closed, freeway noise was no longer heard. Overall nice stay. I would stay there again.

No frills, just simple comfort. I’ll go back for sure.

My ONLY negative is that the doors do not close quietly, which could be a guest issue more than a door issue.

The room was clean. The beds were comfortabl but the pillows were so thick they caused us stiff necks. Day light could be seen between the door and frame. We went for breakfast once but it was disappointing so we didn't bother with it again. There was very little seating in the eating area and it was miserably hot anyway. But we would stay here again.

Breakfast was minimal. Only hot foods were Jimmy Dean egg and sausage breakfast sandwich that had to be microwaved and packages of oatmeal.

Loved our stay at the OC. Walked to the fair grounds for an event so we saved money on parking. Plus they had great coffee and light breakfast items. The spa was nice after a long day and the staff was super friendly. I’d stay there again!

This is a well maintained hotel where the owners take pride in customer service and doing something extra that other hotel chains don't. For example, I was surprised to see the little spa slippers and complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste

It's not a hotel, it's a motel with a lipstick. Beds are terrible so are pillows, very noisy, not very clean. Staff is nice, but that's about all.

This was a very nice hotel in a good location for anything going on at the OC Fair & Event center. I had a convention at the OC event venue & it was a very pleasant walk (about 1/2 mi). It is also located directly across from Vanguard University campus, & about 2 mi from Newport Beach. The pool was clean, & the hot tub was nice & hot. There was tree flowers floating in both, but I didn’t mind that. The only thing I’d say I was disappointed in was the continental breakfast. It was basically fruit & coffee (machine made). I was expecting at least toast &/or bagels. If they had them, then they were gone by the time I got there at 8:00 AM. Other than that, I liked the hotel. Several good restaurants within a block or 2. I never had to drive anywhere over the weekend.

Street noise is noticeable. Toaster in breakfast area did not work, but food choices were good.Shower was warm, not hot. Shirted one washcloth but got another with no issue.

I had to change rooms due to a cleanliness issue but luckily the front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. The room I ended up getting was a bit cleaner, although I did have a pincher bug as a bed mate when I want to tuck myself in.

The not so good: Too clean - I don't want to smell cleaning products for days while I'm only in the space for one night. It seemed like the scent was being pushed through the fan so I had to turn it off and just deal with stuffy air. The other was the pillows. They were super thick and there was no variation. I wish I had brought my own. It wasn't fun. I didn't sleep well here unfortunately.

We always stay here when we visit Laguna Beach (it’s about a 15-20 minute drive from Laguna Beach) It’s affordable, clean, the air conditioning always works, the pool and hot tub are great, they clean you room every single day, the breakfast and coffee are perfect in the morning before we head to the beach. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I love this hotel, I stay here every time I’m coming to Newport Beach for business. Great customer service, quiet and clean rooms. Easy access to restaurants and the neighborhood is walkable an safe. After a long day at work I like to walk along Santa Isabel St toward the estuary, a nice place. Recommended.

I’m a big fan of hair in general and like to style my hair with a fun assortment of different products. However i prefer not playing with other people’s hair which was in abundance all over the bed covers, pillows, and main sheet. Enough to actually stay up all night and play stylist but I was staying to get sleep so I’ll bypass this hotel next time and forever. Great water pressure tho!

The hotel is very nice for the price! Our room didn't get cleaned on the first day, and they said they didn't have extra towels when we asked after our room wasn't cleaned, but when they came on the second day, they did a great job, and we were given two new towels. Bedding seemed to be mismatched (the pillow cases) but comfortable and quiet!

Only suggestions - the showerhead is awkward. If you want to wash you hair everyday, fine; if not, it is tricky to take a shower and keep your hair dry. Not a goodplace for the showerhead.

The hotel was spotless from the parking lot to my room! They had coffee available anytime, and the staff were incredibly professional and friendly! I highly recommend the place for anyone coming down to the area.

Room was decorated nice and very updated, aesthetically. Hotel itself was older and not quite what was expected. Prob wouldn’t stay there again.

The beds are more like metal cots than traditional beds. The photos on the site make them appear sturdier, but the frame is a cot-style metal frame, and the mattress was a bit lumpy. One family in our group also found a dead bug in their bed—not a bed bug, but a bug nonetheless. I found it somewhat ironic that there was a note stating “Your room has been cleaned by…” which wasn’t filled out, and the same note asked for a tip for the cleaning crew, while there was still some crusted residue on the bathroom counter. There were also a few hair bunnies on the floor that clearly weren’t ours. I also would have felt more comfortable having flip-flops for the shower. Additionally, the in-room coffee hadn’t been replenished; the only options available were two packets of decaffeinated coffee. Overall, the room did what we needed it to do: we slept there, showered quickly, and moved on. As long as you know what you’re booking, it will likely meet basic needs.

The bed was uncomfortable as well as the pillows. The floor in the room was so dirty that the bottom of our feet were black. I needed to check out early, we went to get continental breakfast and check out. There was no staff anywhere. I tried to call someone from an open door behind the desk and no one came. The coffee machine was empty. I waited for 10 minutes and no staff arrived. I had to leave my room keys on the counter. I tried to call once I got to my destination and no one answered the phone. I would not stay here again.

We have been staying at the OC Hotel for over 5 years. We visit from Las Vegas and appreciate the cost, cleanliness, location, and most of all customer service. Way to be consistent and keeping cost affordable!

The room was clean and cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable nicely newly remolded rooms.. I would not describe this place as a hotel I would say a nice motel. A full hotel experience I would expect a gym and a full breakfast. The breakfast options was grab and go options items, not much nutritional value low end of the food chain. Self service.If you are conscious of what you eat, I would suggest you order your breakfast or go out to find a nice cooked breakfast. The hotel is located by the main road but parking area was fully lit up. The highlight of my stay was the comfortable cozy room and bed linens smelled fresh and clean,I surely had a comfortable night sleep. Which is extremely important. I would stay there again don't mind eating out or even bring my food since there is a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Price was perfect, convenient location. I did not use the pool or hot tub. I will not pay more to stay there since service is limited.

I chose OC Hotel for a short stay and it turned out to be a great decision. Check-in was smooth, the room was comfortable, and everything was well organized. The hotel feels safe and well managed. I liked how easy it was to access nearby shops and transport. Overall, it was a hassle-free and comfortable stay, and I would consider booking again.

The room was spotless and the beds were super comfy. The bathroom was big and bright, super clean as well. The bathroom had a large rainfall shower head and the soap smelled so good! It was easy to get to our room and the check in process was so easy, the lady at the front desk was so kind and friendly! The breakfast in the morning isn’t anything crazy, but it was complimentary so I can’t complain. They had a great coffee machine and a filtered water station which was super helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

The room smelled Like dirty mop water. The ac unit didn’t work to air out the room and the phone in the room to call the front desk doesn’t work. We had to call online. This place seems family owned. The help desk guy tried seemed to be the only one working since he was the one to come look at the ac, he got us into the room next door by knocking and unlocking it. Smelled still like mop but not as bad as the other room. Won’t be coming back.

Bed was hard and the “comforter” was a sheet, the AC didn’t work, no lotion in the dispenser, the hotel has had a huge upgrade from what it used to be and is acceptable for a one night necessary stay. Just don’t expect anything and you’ll be satisfied.

Yes, breakfast was good

We changed our room due to a very loud and crazy next-door room guest. The 1st room had a very noisy toilet flush which was annoying to use in the middle of night. We stayed 3 days. The last day, hot tub was not clean and warm enough. The main reason I gave 3 stars is taking care of the drunk guy (kicking him out of hotel through cop's involvement) that made us very uncomfortable.

A special shoutout to the front desk team who stayed up late to check us in, held onto our luggage after checkout, and went out of their way to accommodate our requests.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. The room is simple but comfortable. Love the rain shower! There's a good size pool and a hot tub. There's a nice little Italian restaurant 2 min walk away, and a Starbucks 2 min drive away. It's a convenient and accessible location. Get a room on the upstairs level, and in the back, it is quieter.

The rooms are clean. Bed is comfortable. But! Bring your own pillow if you don’t prefer a very overstuffed pillow. My husband ended up throwing his on the floor and his neck hurt in the morning. We have stayed here a few times now. The plus is the near proximity to the freeway and harbor. Another important fact about these independent motels - the rooms tend to not be sound proof like the big chains are so we heard plenty on our last night there from the room above us. Sounded like they were moving furniture til midnight. That may determine if we stay here again. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel. We stay here often, because we live in Palm Springs & head to Baja out of John Wayne. The OC Hotel is clean, quite, has a great breakfast, is close to the airport & the staff is always so nice!

We love the hotel, but the location next to Newport Blvd and the Freeway makes it less than ideal for us. Too noisy! Everything else was great. Comfortable bed, friendly staff, free parking, cool shower! But won’t stay here again id we can help it.

The staff was very friendly. Dated motel that appeared clean, comfortable beds. Off the highway so it was noisy. We were given a room in the back of the motel on first floor. We smelled weed right away but realized it was from the houses behind the motel. Adequate size room with a king size bed. The review I gave was due to the faucet not working properly, the ironing board was dirty and ripped. The iron almost ruined my shirt because it was dirty. The last day the shower wouldn’t drain and a roach scurried out of the bathroom when I turned the light on this morning. This freaked me out and we checked out right after. I’m glad we kept none of our stuff on the floor. I’m sorry to say I couldn’t recommend this motel.

The staff was incredibly supportive, and the rooms were spotless—felt just like being at home. Loved the coffee machine! We checked in late, so we couldn’t try the hot tub, but I’m sure it’s just as wonderful as the rest of the hotel.

This is an older property, but the folks running it are very hardworking and take pride in its upkeep. Free daily breakfast was prompt, adequate and well-stocked. Location is very convenient to beach towns and John Wayne airport. A little roadway noise at night, but nothing that kept me awake. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Very nice, clean and updated hotel for the price. It was clean and staff was so nice. I arrived after a terrible experience at Cozy Inn where it was so gross I had to immediately find a new hotel. This was perfect for what I could afford.

Noticed stains on the curtain and the pillows were basically unusable, overall was a solid budget option, the parking and stay felt safe. Overall would stay again, if needed.

Had an exceptional experience here. Was allowed a courtesy early check-in. The rooms look renovated and modern.They put a lot of work into the details. Breakfast was modest but varied. About a 10 min ride from the airport. Would stay here again without hesitation.

While the room has an odor of "old building" and some door frames show deterioration, etc., the room was as clean as it could be. Keep your expectations low for breakfast! :) But I do recommend this facility for budget friendly travelers.

The Hotel was very nicely kept. The property was clean and safe with convenient parking, we were parked right outside out room. Room had nice beds, BIG screen TV, s refrigerator and microwave. Had a complementary continental breakfast thank you no no no Disneyland. I love you. I love you too. I’m glad you love your hair too. I’m getting of it should continue with the haircut you’re getting, but she’s taking bulk. Yeah, I like it a lot and like spray with these headphones

I requested to change a room , and i was told all the rooms fully booked . Well, i know it was a total lie because i can see all the rooms window curtains are open and rooms a available . Which is approved by another front desk person in the morning “ i am sorry, i don’t know why she told you we were fully booked, we had plenty other room” . Being said that , that was a very unsafe hotel and i am questioning their credibilities and I AM DEFINITELY WILL CONTINUE TO REPORT THIS THAT THEY WROTE DOWN MY CREDIT CARD INFO. and PIN . UNACCEPTABLE

The hotel was exquisite for the price, the front desk woman was incredibly kind, the room itself was clean and even had toiletries and slippers for the guests! We travel often, and this by far was the sweetest family owned hotel we've stayed at and will be back to when in the area. The pool was also very enjoyable.

Property was quiet and clean. We tried the pool and it was so clean, cleaner than our apartment pools back home. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip.

I stayed here because it was one of the only hotels close to an event I was attending. Overall it’s clean and well decorated. One huge problem. The AC is so loud it’s impossible to sleep with it on. Could’ve just been my room. But it was frustrating.

Love this place!!! This is as close as you'll get to a resort without the price. Property is well taken care of and rooms are clean. Other "motels" and "inns" in the area are NOT as well kept up and most of them have turned into residential motels with substance abuse programs using them for patients. Not the case here. I stayed here and mixed up my checkout date. They gave me a call when I didn't check out on time (we went out for day activities) and I added another day. Close to Newport Beach waterfront, shopping (Target, Sprouts, Vons, fast food, Walgreens, etc.) and free parking.

The receptionist and staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed using the hot tub and eating the continental breakfast. The coffee machine was especially nice - it served hot chocolate and latte as well as coffee.

Friendly staff, clean room and comfortable beds. Easy walk to amphitheater at fairgrounds. Not much nearby for food though. The only problem I had with motel is it is mislabeled, this is a motel not a hotel. Motel looks to be recently remodeled and is very nice for a motel.

The room was very adequate and comfortable. The staff friendly and polite were usually visible. The breakfast was a little disappointing. It was not always stocked and the tables were dirty as well as the floor. It was a bare-bones breakfast.

This hotel stay was outstanding! They provided all of the usuals, and plus. They had free toothbrushes and toothpaste, a free comb, makeup removers, etc in the room! Me and my wife stayed here one night only, upon check in our first room had exposed wire from the fire alarm being ripped out of the ceiling. During our stay there were 4 loud explosions that went off from 10:30-12:30. We literally almost left because we couldn’t sleep after the last explosion in the middle of the night. We were contemplating sleeping in our car. I asked for some sort of reimbursement in the morning and was just given the run around to call back later. Steer clear of this place.

The good: pool and hot tub are nice, decor is fine, had a big TV/mini-fridge/microwave in the room. They have a coffee machine in the lobby that makes lattes, cappucinos, etc, and that was above average. The bad: it's a motel, so it was somewhat noisy when people walked by, and there was no privacy unless the blackout curtains were shut. There were some odd design choices, and the one I liked the least was the bathroom sink, which has a spigot where the water runs down an open trough before coming out (see attached picture ... similar to this, but not exactly this). This is gross. How many people have spit in that while brushing their teeth, and how is it cleaned? Aside from the coffee, the breakfast was pretty basic (store bought muffins/pastries, cereal, fruit).
