Pool area was pretty gross there was lots of hair in the pool and around the pool area. You would literally catch hair in your hands when swimming and step on it when going back to your seat or when getting a towel. The breakfast was overpriced, the front desk staff wasn’t very helpful. When I checked in she gave me my room number and key and that was it. Did not explain amenities, did not explain breakfast, did not explain where anything including the elevator was located. Seemed annoyed when I asked for pool hours (came with children, of course they want to swim). Honestly won’t be back.

Did not like the checkout system. It was “just throw your keys in this basket” no chance to get a receipt.

The rare hotel with a large, functioning hot tub. That was nice. Good restaurants and bars are a short drive away. The Bennigans restaurant that’s attached to it is fine, but temper expectations on food quality. It’s basically a TGI Fridays. Hotel is pretty good all around.

Room and hallways were immaculate. Pool was overcrowded for the size. Breakfast buffet was okay.

Only issue was wirh breakfast that we paid for, it was a good, however the staff that morning could have been more attentive it was a full house with a girls hockey team when we arived for breakfast at 830am they were out of alot of the food and not able to replace it quickly and had issues with getting our coffee brought to us.

The blinds in our room were broke! The black out shade was also broke. I was very disappointed when our shades were broke. The breakfast was just okay it was not impressive. The toilet when flushed sounded like a jet engine.

The front desk gave me a hard time with checking in saying I didn’t have a reservation after I showed and called before I came. He give me a regular room I reserved a suite. And I had free breakfast he charged me for breakfast

Great lobby. Lots of places to lounge. Great bar area and restaurant super specious. Breakfast is available in the lobby and in the restaurant.Big pool with a nice design. Hot tub. Hotel has recently been renovated. Great place to have breakfast behind the building. I mostly enjoyed having my cup of coffee in the lounge in area.

Hot tub wasn't working, I cut my foot on my bottom of the hot tub. The power went out for about 5-10 mins. You have to pay almost $20 a person for breakfast that wasn't worth it!! Very unhappy stay!

The pool was gross, the entire hotel felt under-managed and dirty.

The room was very clean and up to date. I slept very well!!! The wifi wasn’t working very efficiently. I think a major safety concern is unsupervised children in the pool. I heard multiple people complaining about not being able to enjoy themselves due to the wild kids taking over the pool and hot tub. The staff however is very friendly and accommodating absolutely no complaints whatsoever with them. The inconvenience was minor.

This hotel is great— wonderful amenities, comfortable rooms and beds, an awesome breakfast and a restaurant in the hotel for when you get in late and are hungry. I stay here every time i make the drive from Minnesota to the east coast.

There was a lotta noise in the hallways till 11pm. Kids screaming and running around the hallways, people coming back from the bar, even dogs barking. The pool was broken, they initially said they needed to do a clean up and was going to be down for a whole day. Then without an hour later there were kids swimming in the pool! The girl at the desk was clueless, she said it was a cleaning issue. So did they clean it properly or why did it reopen so suddenly? I requested a partial refund cause we have kids and they wanted to use the pool and we weren't reassured the pool had been cleaned properly, and cause of the noise the previous night. Expedia is blaming Holiday Inn for denying the request. Holiday did not even have a manager on site, so we never spoke to a person of authority. Whole thing was a mess.

We turned on the air and both of us got overwhelmed by allergies (stuffed up nose, cough). Made it nearly impossible to sleep.

The area was a mess and there were no towels. The hot tub was broken. We couldn’t check in until 3 so there was limited time to use this amenity as it was.

I brought my kids to have a fun time and swimming. The pool was closed and they didn’t get to swim. I am a frequent guest as my son is autistic and loves the water. No one tried to accommodate anything. Very disappointed

My only negative is the locks on doors. They were very delayed with recognizing the key cards. When you are outside at midnight potting a dog I want that door to open quickly and not be fussing with it trying to get it to recognize it.

The breakfast wait staff was very rude. They told me I couldn’t fill up my water at the water station. This was right after I paid for breakfast. Front entrance door also did not open all the way. The room was very nice, but the breakfast staff ruined the experience.

Everything was good till I had to leave for a family emergency and got bounced between the hotel and hotels.com to see if I could refund one night since my plan was to stay the whole trip but obviously couldn’t due to family emergency. The lady we got at the hotel to talk to the manager was very rude and unpleasant. The rest of staff was great.

Clean room. Attentive staff. Great location. This is my 3rd year staying here for business and I will continue to choose this location whenever I’m in the Elgin area.

Hospitality, though, was lacking when members of my group tried to gather in the lobby and enjoy a meal together. We were told we could not gather as a group in the lobby unless we rented a “party room.” We were told we could eat in our rooms in groups of 4 only.

The beds were very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. Even the carpet was clean. The hotel is in great condition except for one glaring oversight. The elevators! The elevators are not regularly cleaned (built up dirt and grime). Its a shame because they don't represent the care being given to the rest of the facility. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my stay and will return.

I paid Expedia $170 to rent a room at this Holiday Inn for one night. When I got to this Holiday Inn, they did not have a room reserved and charged me an additional $215 for on night. I paid twice and had no help from the Holiday Inn desk to resolve the problem. Can Expedia help me?

hot tub was cold at that point should’ve stayed in the pool ,there was stains in my hotel bed n pillow's overall it was fine but idk if id go back because i mostly went to get a relax day away especially for the hot tub and that really just kinda ruined it

It was very close to the wedding reception we attended and the price was very reasonable.

I did notice all the "black people" were put on one floor. Intriguing, it didn't too much bother me (just an observation really) as this area is moderately known to be fairly segregated, yes still in 2025. And all of us "blacks" were pleasant and friendly. Maybe I like it better this way over all. Just a heads up, don't be surprised if this happens. Of course if I were to mention it to management. I'd most likely get a " oh that's just a coincidence or we apologize, we didn't intend it". Maybe that's all true, who knows... Either way no need to apologize, it did not make the service or the cleanliness or overall experience any less than 4/5 stars. Maybe it was better that way. Let's be real, America, and particularly the Chicagoland area, still has a problem and sometimes being with people who accept you feels better anyhow. If I may make a suggestion. If you are going to group us all together, remember there are two types of us. The friendly, hard-working, less dramatic bunch and the louder, less desirable, trouble makers. Don't just group us all together, there are different types of all groups of people on the planet. I strayed off topic a bit. Great stay overall!

Nice renovated hotel with lots of parking and a good restaurant. Nice indoor pool. Gym a bit limited but walking around the parking lot is nice. Although near busy road, it's quiet.

Fun bar (Bennigans) attached. Housekeeping is doing a great job, including daily room cleaning which I really like and don't see much anymore. Pool and hot tub are good. The gym is really small by any standard and doesn't have much there. The breakfast is not a good value. It's equivalent to a free breakfast in most places and they're charging $17 for it. A bit of noise (knocks and bangs) throughout the night prevented me from getting good sleep.

Also, maintenance or someone should walk around the building(at least once a day to pick up obvious trash/sacks of garbage

This was my first time here, and if I'm back in the area visiting the Fox River Trolley Museum, I'll be staying here. Nice facility, and it was recommended by the folks at Fox River Trolley Museum.

Overall the room was nice, the only miss, we had 4 people staying in the room and there weren't enough towels to accommodate for the number in the room. We had to ask a few times for extra towels, that would be the only negative.

Very nice rooms. Comfortable bed. I gave 4 stars for cleanliness because as I was getting ready in the morning a very strong odor of cigarette smoke was coming through the ceiling vent/fan. We were in a non-smoking room and I didnt have the fan on, so not sure how that was possible.

Two-night stay while attending a multi-day sports event at Now Arena. The hotel is conveniently located and a very nice property overall. Front desk service was excellent. The room was spacious and clean. Only complaint was the in-room wi-fi was very weak that I relied on cellular data to stream video on my devices. The pool is nice, but the fitness room (which I used) is cramped for the amount of equipment they have. Bennigan’s is a decent restaurant. Lastly, it is a safe and secure building. Will stay here again if I’m back in the area!

I was quoted one price online to book it. When I got my bill it was quite a bit more because of two charges that I didn't know about. I showed have known what the total bill was going to be!

bennigans attached a big plus

Our entire floor smelled like weed…and the smell came into our room every time we opened the door. Someone pulled in the pool so that was closed the entire night…including the hot tub for some reason. When the pool is one of the mason reasons for selecting this place, there should be some reimbursement/discount.

We arrived first for dinner. A friend told me there was still a Bennigans restaurant in the area as my husband and I first met at one in Virginia almost 25 years ago and this was the first visit to one since 2008. The food and service is the same. We then checked in at the front desk and they gave me our keys and breakfast tickets as we prepaid. We got into our room and couldn’t figure out how to close the blinds as there was no pull chain. Maintenance came and we were surprised that there is a remote control on the wall to the left of the window! This would be something I think should be told to us at check in. We had to call maintenance again because our room had no tv remote and when they brought us one it didn’t work because the battery compartment was corroded. After all that and finally getting a great night sleep we notice the shower had a large crack and the shower head wouldn’t stay upright. It’s a handheld shower head so it kept falling down. Breakfast was amazing and there was so many options like bacon, sausage, potatoes, breads, muffins, cereal, French toast, coffees, teas and juices.
