Reviews
The Hotel Monte Vista is a historic hotel located in downtown Flagstaff with a unique charm and character. Guests generally enjoy the location, staff, and cocktail lounge, but frequently mention issues with parking, noise, and outdated rooms.
- Great location in downtown Flagstaff
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Limited parking for guests
- Noise from the bar and surrounding streets
- 3/5
It is a 100 year old hotel, with a vintage feel. Needs some work…. Desk clerks are not very friendly, but helpful if they feel like it. I listened to them laugh and criticize a guest that had just walked passed them. I arrived 20 minutes till check-in. Clerk had me and another guest wait until 3, then she nodded ok. Rooms are clean and housekeepers are friendly and helpful. It was nice being in Oldtown Flagstaff….
- 5/5
Nice older hotel in downtown. We played pool in the bar onsite. The room was small but functional, our room was a "haunted" one.
- 1/5
A small window air conditioning unit was what you had for temperature control. Had to keep it running to drown out the street noise. Don’t work all that great for temperature control. I’ve stayed here before on another floor/room that was the complete opposite. Was it because of Expedia room????
- 3/5
Not many amenities. Bets were comfortable. Bathroom sink would not drain at all. The air conditioner in the window was quite loud, but it did mute noise from downstairs and outside. downstairs staff was friendly, but not overly helpful. We had to park a couple of blocks away, walk to check-in, get a parking sticker for the parking lot. Walk back to our car, drive to the parking lot and then carry our bags in. try to avoid karaoke night, which is Thursday downstairs in the bar, and rooms on the third and fourth floor are quieter than the second.
- 5/5
Great location, cozy room!
- 3/5
we stayed in room 402, I do not believe that the manager of the hotel has walked in to this room. the windows in booth rooms were facing east. and do not have curtains that can block the sun rise. they also do not block the spot light on the building down the street.
- 5/5
The place is quant but in the perfect spot downtown near everything in walking distance
- 1/5
Chose this property due to its location to downtown. Reviews weren’t the best but the pictures of the room worked for a one night stay.. got to the property and they have no parking available.. was told I have to park on the street with metered parking. Get to the room and it was very small, but that wasn’t a big deal. Set my bags on the bed and open the door that was in the room to find out it was a closet. These rooms have no bathrooms. The guy at the desk told me that it’s common restrooms and showers for these rooms even though the pictures when you book the room showed a shower and a bathroom in the room. He told me that the pictures online are deceiving and that I should’ve read the fine print. Who reads the fine print on our room when you check into a hotel, every hotel room has a bathroom. Went and had dinner then came back to watch TV and go to bed only to find out the TV does not work. The guy downstairs at the desk proceeds to tell me that the TVs never work because the remotes don’t know how to read the cable box. So now I’m in $150 a night room with no bathroom and no TV. Definitely will not stay there again.

This is a great vintage property. The room was comfortable and clean but still has the old hotel feel. We always stay here when in Flagstaff.
- 1/5
Our king room (#407) was dated and poorly maintained, with chipped paint and a window air-conditioning unit that allowed significant drafts into the room. The advertised “view” consisted mainly of rooftops, HVAC equipment, and railroad tracks. Wi-Fi on the fourth floor was essentially unusable. The biggest issue was noise. Freight trains passed regularly, and loud street revelers continued shouting outside until after 3:00 a.m., making sleep nearly impossible. After one miserable night, we decided to forfeit the second night of our two-night reservation and check out early. Customer service was disappointing. When we mentioned the drafts, the response from the front desk was, “I do not control the wind.” When we checked out early and explained our concerns, there was no apology or apparent interest in our feedback. The one bright spot was dinner in the Lotus Room, which was enjoyable and reasonably priced. We relocated to the nearby Hyatt Place, which was quieter, cleaner, more modern, and less expensive. I appreciate the hotel’s history and character, but based on our experience, I would not stay here again.

Was right over the bar. Got way too noisy at night into the early morning hours. Nice staying in a historic building and in downtown, but it gets pretty rowdy there after dark...
- 2/5
This place has a VERY LOUD BAR on the first floor that's open until 2am, and they rent out the rooms right above it. If you're looking for a party, this might be the place for you. It's not a place to rest. The first night, around 11p, after realizing my room was directly above the bar, I asked if I could please change rooms. The guy said I'd have to pay the difference. I don't blame him - he doesn't make the decisions - but they have no business renting out 211 or anything else over the bar, and there's absolutely no reason I should pay extra to have a room I can actually sleep in. The area with the pool tables - one of the reasons I wanted to stay here - isn't open on Sunday or Monday (my days). There's also very, very limited free parking. I thought the place looked quaint, and was okay taking a single room with a shared bathroom, thinking it would be a nice bathroom. It was not. They were tiny closets, nowhere to hang your clothes. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, just based on the fact that someone willing to charge $100+ a night for a closet over a bar shouldn't get your money.
- 1/5
The hotel rooms are right above a night club the music is very loud making it difficult to sleep. The club goes until 2am! So be prepared to be kept up.
- 3/5
Location is the best part about this hotel. But it’s extremely dated and just not worth the money. Dingy carpet floors, questionable bedding, extension cords all over the room to get items plugged in.
- 4/5
Historic property with super friendly staff and a great location for dining, shopping and nightlife. Smallest room I’ve stayed since Europe, but it worked. Would definitely return.
- 4/5
The bar and people downstairs were very loud. The bathrooms were tiny and shared with several rooms. Unique experience.
- 4/5
One thing to keep in mind... The place is a club on sat night so if you are early to bed don't book the second or third floor. We were in a suite on the second and it was pretty loud. I must say it wasn't too loud for any of us to fall asleep and stay asleep. Just something to keep in mind. Parking can also be tricky with their small lot. I'd get there a little before check-in.
- 1/5
The manager Jason was banging on her car and yelling at her for pulling into the parking lot. When I confronted him because there was a strange man in a t shirt and cargo shorts was yelling at my sister and hitting her car. He proceeded to get into my face and cuss me out. I would love to give this place 5 stars but Jason completely ruined the experience.
- 1/5
The bar was right below our room, which obviously comes with a level of understanding on our part being in a historic building and all. However as the bar began to close patrons from the bar, came upstairs to use the bathrooms and then proceeded to bang on our door at about 1:30 in the morning and then stand outside the window on the sidewalk, talking very loud loudly until about 2am. As we were just falling asleep, the trash truck rolled in and parked right outside of our building for a solid 5-10 minutes. Needless to say no sleep was had. The next morning the front desk man was rather nonplussed about any of our complaints, when asking how our stay was. Though he was finally able to reverse the charges on my room that I was wrongly charged for that still took about three days to process back to my account. All in all, I think that’s our last time staying with the Monte V.
- 5/5
The retro vibe is fun, though it might not suit everyone. Great location, awesome lounges.
- 3/5
old rooms, vintage vibes.
- 4/5
Rooms were quaint and fun. Staff were excellent. Downsides: No coffee in rooms and no wifi. Both were available in lobby.

- 4/5
Parking was impossible on a Friday. I had to use the parking garage that was $50 per night
- 4/5
Not enough parking for them to be having parking passes, the club they had down stairs could be heard up to our 3rd floor room. And rooms needed better airflow. But overall cute place, great location
- 5/5
Great room. No fridge or safe. Very limited parking.
- 4/5
Great location!
- 4/5
A very convenient spot with a unique vibe. Shared bathrooms were quite small
- 5/5
Parking was very convenient and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
- 5/5
This hotel is super central to downtown flagstaff. It is cute and charming. Great for a home base. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Very cool vintage hotel in the heart of Downtown Flagstaff. Park your car, walk everywhere.
- 5/5
Just a cute, old place to stay at. Had a blast.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities and a great view of downtown flagstaff!
- 3/5
Location was great to walk around town. Parking out back was convenient for an extra tall vehicle.
- 3/5
There is coffee I. The room and none in the lobby as they said the machine was broken. So my wife put money into the soda machine to get a Diet Coke and another flavor came out. The guy at the front desk really didn’t seem to care much about our concerns.
- 5/5
Loved the old charm of the hotel. Ample parking for our stay and close to many shops and eateries in downtown.
- 4/5
The staff was profrssional. The rooms were clean. Be aware that there is no airconditoning. We had a problem with parking. The hotel parking lot is very small. One person in our party checked in early evening. There was no parking and they had to park 1/2 mile away.
- 5/5
Parking is horrible but the hotel is amazing
- 4/5
Large comfortable room with good bed and adequate bedding. Separate shower in closet but good. Quiet. Elevator. Right down town.
- 3/5
One of the 2 rooms was not clean but we got comped for it. That was kind. No mini fridge to store leftovers. The BR is 3 feet from bed with no fan in the BR. The sink was outside the bathroom. It’s an old funky hotel. And it was meh. The staff all had different answers to questions or concerns. It seemed like no one was really in charge of the hotel or had a solid answer. Good parking but small lot and definitely not large enough for all guests. Had a decent bar. It wasn’t horrible but it was also not wonderful. The history of ghosts made for an interesting night.
- 4/5
great location, no AC, very noisy from popular bar area
- 5/5
The atmosphere and location couldn't be better.
- 5/5
Friendly customer service and very clean rooms
- 5/5
Clean room. Good location. Would stay again.
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
Great location! Front desk staff wasn’t very friendly.
- 5/5
Everything was great! Love this hotrl
- 4/5
Great historic hotel.
- 2/5
Parking didn't feel safe or easy (no signage on where to park). VERY noisy if your room is on the San Francisco street side. No fan or window in bathroom. Very few electrical outlets. Staff at front desk are not well trained and not friendly - do not know the area and just a seat holder. It has a TV about the size of a computer monitor. Lighting is poor - one lamp and one overhead light. It is ornately antique but could use with some upgrades, water especially, bathroom sink had very little pressure, shower took forever to get warm (never truly hot) water, never sure if the toilet would flush okay.
- 4/5
Cons: Bathroom sink was clogged the first two nights. Hair dryer did not work. No mini fridge, microwave or coffee pot. Vending machine in lobby wasn’t working. One morning there was no staff at the desk for 2-3 hours. Pros: Unique hotel with interesting history. Fun to see celebrity names and photos in rooms where they stayed many years ago. Friendly staff. Sink was fixed after second request. No issues with Wi-Fi. Coffee available in the lobby in the morning. I was on the 4th floor, and the room was comfy and quiet even with a bar/cocktail lounge downstairs with music. Nice location, walking distance to downtown Flagstaff and Amtrak station. Overall, I liked it and would stay again.
- 3/5
Bed was uncomfortable and bathroom small. Complementary coffee was undrinkable. TV volume hard to hear. Great location walking to everything and good parking.
- 5/5
History, charm, and location
- 1/5
Do not let the "historic" and "haunted" marketing fool you. I stayed here expecting quirky old-Flagstaff charm and got something much worse. The hotel is a dump. The decor is not charmingly vintage, it's oppressively outdated and poorly maintained in a way that makes you wonder when anyone last cared. The "haunted" angle is a gimmick; the only spirits here are the cheap ones being poured at the two lobby bars. And those nasty bars, wow. Every afternoon around 4 PM, the lobby turns into a full-blown dive bar/nightclub. Loud music, rowdy crowds, zero consideration for anyone trying to sleep upstairs. This goes on until 2 AM, at which point the street outside your window picks up where the bars left off. It was genuinely one of the most sleep-deprived nights of my life. This hotel has made a deliberate choice: the bar crowd comes first. Guests come dead last. If you book here expecting a hotel experience, you'll be very, very wrong. Stay literally anywhere else in downtown Flagstaff.
- 3/5
We love Historic hotels ... Monte Falls short in the rooms where the beds are uncomfortable..a suggestion is the beds need toppers. The rooms need to be renovated to maintain the Historic vibe. In our room the sheets were ripped the bathroom had a broken toilet roll holder, the tank was cracked and doors would not shut. The carpet was over used and needs replacing. The check in was smooth although they could of warned us the 3 bands were playing that night until after 1 a.m. they put us on the second floor instead of a higher floor so as not to hear the fans screaming and loud music... hoping all this will be taken in as constructive criticism and not just complaints...
- 3/5
I stayed here because I wanted something historic. The room smelled very musty and I was woken up as soon as the sun came up by construction or something on the roof. Bartender in the lounge had zero personality and put zero effort into my $14 dollar drink. The lounge didn’t open on time and no one knew why. The hotel provided parking but not enough. Wouldn’t stay here again.
- 4/5
In walking distance from train station and downtown stores and restaurants
- 5/5
The decor, architecture, history of Monte Viscombine to make
- 2/5
Property allows staff to park in the small lot for guests leaving guests with extremely limited parking. We had to park on the street and run out every hour with a credit card to park. When inquiry was made to staff at front desk why there were so many vehicles in guest lot with no parking permits.in then, she was less than helpful in assisting in parking our vehicle for the night. The hotel described that parking was available in a lot for guests.
- 3/5
Staff was nice.
- 5/5
I very much enjoyed staying good evening Hotel. The shared bathrooms was an interesting but perfectly acceptable and doable accommodation.
- 5/5
We only stayed one night, but we were looking for a hotel with character; something other than a chain hotel along the interstate. The location in the downtown area was great for easy walking through the surrounding area. The room was clean and comfortable. We liked the energy of the hotel with the adjoining club with the live band. We had been doing a lot of hiking prior to staying at the hotel. The jetted tub was perfect for helping us recover. We really enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
Friendly local place.
- 2/5
Everything was great
- 2/5
This is an old hotel. The room looked quaint but the bathroom did not look clean because of the old fixtures and floor. The absolute worst thing was the front desk staff. Very unfriendly. Out of 4 guys at the front desk NOT ONE of them was nice. I would not recommend staying at this hotel. The ONLY thing good about this place was the location.
- 3/5
It’s a fun old-school hotel with a rich history. We enjoyed just about everything other than the fact that our room was located directly over the bar, that was blasting music until 2am. The charm of the place became overshadowed by the frustration of being unable to sleep until the bar closed. Would not recommend unless you are a very heavy sleeper! 😬
- 1/5
When we complained upon checkout, we got the obligatory apology with no effort for compensation. If you plan on going there, make sure you know what's playing in the lounge. We'll never go there again.
- 5/5
Cozy, quiet room centrally located in town.

- 1/5
Dirty, filthy room! Avoid this hotel as much as possible, worst experience ever, dirty rooms.
- 3/5
Be prepared for very noisy stay. Heard dance music and yelling and base thumping until early morning. It’s ok for location, not ok for quiet rooms and amenities.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, great location
- 4/5
Great old time location. Very pleasant staff. Just no iron or hairdryer.
- 5/5
Super charming hotel with a bar and restaurant that was a hit with both locals and visitors. We stayed in the Freddy Mercury room and it was very quaint with a super comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom is pretty small but was fine for our needs. Only strange thing was there wasn’t any temperature control other than a ceiling fan in the room. We were fine but depending on the weather and if you’re dependent on white noise to sleep that could be a challenge. The location to literally everything can’t be beat. A fun place and we would dsray again!
- 2/5
The property is nice and a very convenient location but expect to add $50 a night parking on top of the price of the hotel, and a front desk staff that has no desire to help give information on surrounding overnight parking after waiting a long time to figure out what to do with my car
- 3/5
We arrived shortly before check in time and asked if our room was possibly ready. The girl behind the counter was very rude and acted as if we were bothering her. She told us the room would not be ready until three. We proceeded to the bar and the bartender was also rude, accusing the ladies sitting next to us that they ordered their drinks incorrectly. My husband and I heard the ladies order and it was not their mistake
- 3/5
Old school but clean
- 4/5
Everything was good
- 5/5
Room was great. Shower did not drain.
- 1/5
Bedsheets bedcovers dirty , stunk. Bathroom sink was dirty had toothpaste marks , toilet had skuffs in bowl, pee and hair on lid. Rug needs to be burnt. Years of dust everywhere. Our receptionist that checked us in horrible. Could not answer any of my questions about the room. I get this is an old hotel and that’s cool but keep them clean!!! Especially the bedding!!! DO NOT STAY HERE.
- 3/5
Historic value is the draw. The bathrooms are outdated, cleanliness could be improved upon. Bar noise/music volume from the lobby can be heard on all floors.
- 5/5
Charming
- 4/5
Everything was great except the mattress in room 405. It was firm and bowed, high in the middle.
- 5/5
First room was not clean but when we told the front desk they put us in a new and nicer room.
- 4/5
Seems like the more you pay, the less you get. No micro/fridge. Yes it’s a historic bldg some modern amenities would be nice.
- 5/5
Very nice historic hotel with a lot of charm. It’s located right in the middle of great restaurants and bars.
- 3/5
The craft cocktail bar inside serves spectacular cocktails that are extremely unique. And though the bartender kept serving the young girls who came in after us first, we still enjoyed the experience very much. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Location is awesome
- 2/5
The bar was loaded with college students and such which seems regular at the motel. Also, the front desk staff seemed indifferent to my wife and I. The computer screen was more important. It's too expensive for what you get.
- 5/5
Great stay:)
- 5/5
Great location with restaurants and shops all in walking distance
- 2/5
Terrible parking situation…Staff was not helpful at all…Hotel lobby and lobby bathroom was very dirty… Have stayed at Hotel Monte Vista several times before and it was great but it has really gone downhill…will never stay there again nor will I recommend it to friends and family as I did before
- 3/5
Rendezvous was closed, Monty V was closed. Main reason we wanted to stay there. Otherwise decent room rooms and a great location.
- 3/5
No parking avail.
- 5/5
I love this place! I always come here I go to Flagstaff. Right in the heart of downtown and you can walk everywhere. The rooms are clean and staff is great and will help you out if you need anything. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
I don’t know if there are any “quiet” rooms, due to the shenanigans downstairs, but our room’s decor was charming.
- 5/5
Great downtown location
- 5/5
Lovely and great staff!
- 2/5
The motel had a DJ event that shook the walls till 2 AM. This was not revealed at check-in. All attempts to contact a manager have been unsuccessful. It was very expensive for a very bad experience. The second night was fine
- 5/5
Everything was great. Although one of the bartenders was very rude with me from just simply asking a question on if I could get coffee there in the morning. Very unprofessional.
- 4/5
People need to understand before they stay here, this is an historic hotel and they keep it dated to preserve the history. Rooms were dated and fabulous, I loved it. There are two bars on the first level and the walls are THIN. Know that you will hear music and noise inside and outside until 2am, even in your room. This is a college town and college kids are every, it’s to be expected.
- 3/5
Stinky room but good vibes
- 5/5
The front desk attendant was welcoming & talkative. The vibe I expected, walking into a nearly 100 year old hotel, was reassessed. The energy was vibrant while still maintaining its nearly 100 year old patina. Bravo!
- 4/5

- 5/5
Bed was comfortable, location was great, room was quiet and clean, jetted tub was a bonus! The only negative was the receptionist when we got there, she was not very friendly or knowledgeable. But later in the evening there was a gentleman who helped us and he was amazing, kind and helpful!
- 5/5
Our stay at the Monte Vista was great & the staff was excellent! Both Joy & Marissa went above and beyond for us. My husband knocked his wallet & phone off the table and they fell behind the curtain & we did not realize it until we were on the train headed out of town. Joy went across the street (thats where my locator said it was) then back up to the room to listen for the phone pinging - she went right away when I called - it was a good thing because the phone was about dead. She found both items behind the curtain for us! Then Marissa had to print 2 labels & box up the items twice then make 2 trips to the post office to mail it back to us (1st time I messed up the label). We so appreciate their honesty (I told them to keep the little amount of money in the wallet but they wouldn’t do that) & all the extra lengths they went to getting our items returned to us safely. We will never forget your kindness!
- 1/5
We chose a, "standard king room with a view." The room measured about 12 X 15. The closet was the width of the suitcase and about 4 feet high. The bathroom was like a broom closet. No shelves, no hooks. There were 4 electrical outlets, one behind the bed. They were so loose the cords would not stay in and our electronics went dead. The little wall heater barely worked and it was freezing in our room. We requested extra blankets to at least warm up while in bed. There is a small elevator but no carts. We made 3 trips to carry our stuff to the room. We sat on the edge of the bed to watch TV which only got local channels. We were supposed to be there 4 nights. We checked out after the first night. I would never stay here again.
- 4/5
Room was clean and staff was very nice.
- 2/5
The music and noise from the bar area made it impossible to sleep until after the bar closed at 2 a.m.
- 4/5
Comforter wasn't clean and had to be replaced.
- 2/5
The room was 1 hour late getting ready. The air conditioning unit looked like it was installed by a 10 year old. The sheets were stained and threadbare. The rave music was thumping till after midnight. You’re catering to the wrong group of people. Watch “Restaurant Impossible” and get a clue.
- 3/5
Room was okay. It was hot and the water in the sink was a dribble. Bathroom was tiny.
- 4/5
The location is great!
- 5/5
Love the history and the ambiance, especially the bar.
- 3/5
no parking, no restorooms in room, staff not very helpful
- 5/5
The young man at the front desk was professional and helpful
- 3/5
We were looking forward to staying here, but unfortunately, the bed albeit soft, had dips in it and then it was extremely noisy as our room was over the bar which was EXTREMELY noisy, and that lasted until one or two in the morning so sleeping was very difficult. Hotel itself is very beautiful. The area around it is really nice, but not sure that I would stay at this hotel again.
- 5/5
Classic and clean, attentive to guest
- 5/5
Our room and the bathroom were spotless. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They only thing we would have liked is some tee and coffee in the room. But other than that we had a wonderful stay here.
- 3/5
The walls are thin, and combined with the club activity on the first floor, makes for a tough night of sleep.
- 5/5
Always enjoy staying here.
- 5/5
Staff was great, very efficient. Room was clean and spacious. Being a historic location the bathroom was tiny but we expected that. Perfect location downtown!
- 3/5
Front desk person, a taller Asian woman, lacked friendliness and customer skills and wasn't very accommodating. Even though we chose and paid for an upgraded room, we were place directly above the bar which was very loud and distracting till 2am in the morning when they closed.
- 5/5
Parking was a nightmare.
- 5/5
I loved the antique look. Place was clean but had a lot of character. I loved the small night lounge and bar on the first floor
- 1/5
Wild extremely loud party starting at 10 at night. So loud I had to leave
- 3/5
The staff was great. There was no parking. We had to pay $50 for overnight parking across the street. This was after parking blocks away and paying for parking elsewhere but it was only valid for 5 hrs. The tree lighting ceremony was the same night we got there, so we expected it to be busy. What we didn't expect was to not get any sleep due to people drinking all night, yelling, fighting, etc at the bar just below our room/windows. The room itself was cozy enough, but could use a good scrub. I would probably stay again, but would hope to find better parking next time.
- 3/5
The shower was smaller than an rv shower. Had difficulty washing my hair due to limited space. I had to put my shampoo and conditioner on the bottom of shower on the other side of shower curtain since I was unable to get all 3 bottles to balance on shelf. The travel sized shower gel was on the soap tray but barely fit due to the top of soap tray curved in. My boyfriend barely fit in the shower. The noise outside was contant through the night. We could here shouting and conversations. The staff was pleasant. The room was clean and spacious. Walkabilty for downtown excellent.
- 3/5
Front desk needs to be nice when have recommendations
- 5/5
Loved the property, parking was a little tight but great location and super cute.
- 1/5
The room was very old, run down, and kinda dirty. They have a club downstairs. It has extremely large skylights right outside the 2nd story rooms. The music and lights protruded out of the skylights. It did not stop Friday night til the wee morning hours. The windows and walls both vibrated and rattled. I want some kind of restitution. The kid at the front desk was like it's always that way? I'm going to reach out to the manager.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Check in was great. It’s a two second walk to the bar. Amazing.
- 2/5
Had to wait 30 minutes for someone to come to the front desk to check in while other employees saw me and walked away. You could hear the bar downstairs from the room and after bar hours someone playing guitar and yelling the same phrase over and over until 4am. Shower was also dirty.
- 4/5
Room was clean. Staff was not outwardly friendly but they were polite when we directly asked questions. Parking was nearly impossible to find. There are very few overnight parking spaces in the downtown area and the hotel only has a very small lot.
- 5/5
Showers are short king friendly
- 3/5
TV remote not working. No mini fridge in room.
- 5/5
Yes, I had an awesome time while staying at Hotel Monte Vista, and the staff were very friendly and informative. I'd definitely stay at Hotel Monte Vista again. Thank you for your warm hospitality... MARK
- 5/5
Will be going back!
- 5/5
Our stay at the Monte V was great! The hotel is in excellent condition despite its age—it truly feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. The location is unbeatable, with all the good restaurants within easy walking distance. We'll definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Super fun old hotel, right in the heart of old Prescott. Staff is super friendly and rooms were super clean. My only complaint is that I could not open the windows for fresh air. There was a portable air conditioner, but I like fresh air.
- 2/5
The hotel was in a great location, walkable to shops, restaurants, and bars. There was a bar next to the front of the lobby and an entrance to a karaoke bar in the back of the lobby. The hotel was built in the 1920's and seems not to have been renovated since. The bedding and pillows were lumpy, and the top cover was frayed at the bottom. The curtains were old and when you sat on one of the chairs, the cushion sank down. The bathroom shower curtain was sad.
- 3/5
The bathroom sink drained very SLOW! Didn’t use the shower for fear of slow draining. Convenient location! Probably wouldn’t go back.
- 3/5
The place is cute, but old. The shower had a rain shower head. Not great. Not easy to rinse your hair, not to mention feeling like you’re drowning the whole time. This location is loud. Especially on Saturday night. There was a rave in the hotel..the bed was comfortable.
- 5/5
The room was nice and the place
- 4/5
Historic interior and rooms had celebrity names
- 4/5
Little parking
- 5/5
Place was spectacular
- 1/5
The room has a sewage smell, dusty, dirty pillows, the bed sheets stinks too. The double lock is obviously broken. It’s beyond the cleaning staff ability if they don’t change the pillows when they need too. It has some dirty marks in it. Wall is thin as you can literally hear the sounds of everyone passing the room. We can’t have decent sleep and over Friday night it was extremely noisy because of the bar down stairs. Front desk staff were not friendly at all. We’ve got the vintage feel of staying in a 100+ year hotel. Their internet connection is extremely slow don’t expect to use it for work. You’ll be disappointed. They have locked internet and they wont let you use a more reliable internet connection which is exclusive for employee use only. (Maria, David’s wife)

Check in staff were very cut n dry but efficient and knowledgeable. The room had a musty smell maybe carpet and day 1 we had luck with parking but sat was terrible and we never got any guidance so we drove around a lot and weren't familiar with parking fees. All nite loud noises due to bar and street sounds was terrible and we are older guests so we will not be staying in the future. The room was cold even with heater and mattress lumpy and uneven.
- 1/5
Showed up at 3 for check in after calling ahead to confirm and was not able to get in until 4pm since it was being cleaned. Get to the room and the sheets were obviously used I ran to get a maid myself who admitted she rushed and forgot. I had them change the sheets. The girl up front was dismissive and gave no resolution or updates she said she didn’t know anything she was alone. The street noise has booming bass from the clubs on the first floor of the building that are going at 1am with no end in sight. I am young and traveling and reviews did not match this place.
- 2/5
The hotel is really badly aged. My room was carpeted, looked pretty nasty. Shower tile needed work and wasn’t good. I wouldn’t stay there again.
- 2/5
Clean room
- 3/5
I think the mattress were original from 1926. There were no blackout drapes, but on the positive side it’s an awesome old hotel the great bar also the windows did not fit properly so you heard all the noise from the outside.
- 5/5
Very noisy due to the bar under the room
- 4/5
Excellent cocktail bar attached. At the heart of Flagstaff. Plenty of casual eating places within minutes. AVERY social scene every night
- 5/5
Wonderful old hotel with lots of charm. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Lots of loud partying in downtown Flagstaff on weekend nights but the front desk provides earplugs on request.
- 1/5
No A/C in any room. Had large rave party in there large bar disco. People brought in their own large speakers. Nobody in motel could sleep till after 3am. Whole hotel loud music and thumping base music
- 4/5
It’s an older hotel; but, it was fine! Saturday night noise from downstairs was pretty loud even being on the 4th floor. The location was great for exploring town. Parking is first come, first served and not much of it.
- 2/5
plus the staff walks in on you an hour before checkout.
- 4/5
In downtown Flagstaff walkable to shops, bars, and dining. Old classic hotel with 2 bars. Open since 1927.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed the closest to Amtrak as well as the historic and well preserved nature of the hotel. The shopping was very eclectic.
- 3/5
Old property that needs some basic updates. No AC and windows don’t work well, and don’t lock. Bed was too old but clean.
- 2/5
Flagstaff is wonderful. The fall colors are what we are here for. Our room is far too small! I paid more money for a bigger room with our own bathroom but the bathroom we got was tiny, tiny! It feels like the hotel may have divided one bigger room and turned it into two to make more money. My partner and I aren’t large people and we had a hard time fitting into the tiny shower provided. Also the windows have lovely views covered in several dubious smudges that give me the ick. There’s hair in the shower drain and the water has a hard time coming out of the faucet.
- 4/5
Overall the hotel is very dirty. Think dusty baseboards, stained carpet, dirty corners and cobwebs on light fixtures in lobby. The things you use, bathrooms and beds, are clean. Staff was very friendly. Lady at the front desk left her station to fetch us an extra pillow. Go early to get parking in their lot. Unfortunately we did not encounter any spirits.
- 2/5
Location excellent. Parking lot was full, no space for our car. Left in our own to figure out alternate parking.
- 3/5
Not clean
- 5/5
Loved staying at this historic hotel!
- 4/5
Enjoyed the charm of this old hotel. Things were clean and well maintained. Lounge was a hot spot for a young crowd which is fine, but there were times people were hanging out on the sidewalk and bit noisy. I'd suggest the security guy I saw working maintain the level of outside noise of bar patrons for people like myself staying there to sleep.
- 5/5
The jacuzzi was great and we loved our room and my partner and I just love how everything is within walkable distance!! Must stay place when visiting Flagstaff, only thing that I found inconvenient is that if the hotel parking lot is full, you have to find street parking (which can be far) and pay for that which isn’t a big deal but just be prepared. Overall a great stay at this beautiful haunted hotel!
- 5/5
Everything was serviceable for a historic hotel. I liked how every room was unique and likely furnished from estate sales or antique shops. My only suggestion would be to keep the beds/bedding uniform between all rooms and use duvets…old bedspreads and blankets are charming in a cabin but not in a hotel.
- 2/5
The front desk staff who checked us in was terrible. Unfriendly. Fast talking. No eye contact. No welcome. No smile. A few hours later when we entered the area by the front desk to access the elevator , the attendant (a different one ) gave no smile or acknowledgment. One time when we entered he hotel , There was staff at the door area cursing amongst each other about something. I believe it was in jest but , it was shocking to have no greeting but instead hear cussing.
- 3/5
The bar was the main attraction but the bar tender Kelly was more interested in customers who ordered drinks that needed shaking to put on a show. We waited a half an hour for another drink while she kept telling us to wait while she served people who had just walked in. It was rude. As I guest of the hotel she treated us with total disrespect. The hotel is old. We had adventures that made us leave the hotel at 4:00am. It would have been nice to have a coffee pot in the room…just saying
- 5/5
Great place. Fun ghost hunting!
- 5/5
I like everything!
- 3/5
We booked our room on a Friday which we learned is live music night. If you want a quiet night don't get a room on the east side, but the hotel does give complimentary ear plugs.
- 1/5
I reserved a wheelchair accessible room 7 weeks a head of my visit, there were 5 calls weeks ahead ensuring I'd be placed properly. When I checked in I was assigned the "Bob Hope" suite. My chair BARELY fit in the room where there was a small path just around the bed, I wasn't able to access the restroom at all, and the entire room (including into the restroom) was adorned in long shaggy carpet so I was unable to ambulate in the room at all. When I reported the issue I was first offered half off my stay, I had to argue to get a full refund. This left my sons and I scrambling to find accommodations (we finally did 10 min away for over double what my initial reservation price had been) and by the time we got checked in I missed the event I came to town for making the entire trip a waste! I emailed management on 9/22, today is 9/26 and I haven't even received a response. Very Disappointing from a place I previously considered my favorite in all of AZ.
- 5/5
Great historic hotel in the middle of downtown Flagstaff. This hotel is an Arizona gem.
- 3/5
have stayed at this property many times since my son went to NAU. This was the first time.i had to park my vehicle.off.the property because of a show they had in the bar. It was also extremely loud until 1am when the show concluded. Probably won't stay here again.
- 3/5
The downside... parking is atrocious. There are about 10 spaces total available to hotel guests. Park anywhere else and you have to pay. The desk clerk was not helpful answering parking questions either, so if you don't get a hotel parking space, you're on your own. If you're lucky enough to get hotel parking, you're golden because everything is within walking distance. Because of the age of this hotel and the fact there is a very popular bar/lounge at its base, noise is a bit of an issue. However, if you can deal with the noise, the bar is a really awesome place to hang out. Cleanliness is a bit of an issue, mostly because rugs and comforters just need to be replaced. Overall, I loved the vibe enough to put up with the rest and I will definitely stay there again.
- 3/5
The hotel is absolutely exactly what you expect when booking a historical experience. We loved the decor, the ambience and how everything seems very on theme for the atmosphere we expected and were sold on when we looked it up! It was beautiful. The hotel does need to do a better job of warning guests of the “nightlife” that is mentioned on website. It’s states there is some music you will hear. This is NOT a fact. You will absolutely be kept up until at least 1-2am with not only loud club music but a loud yelling DJ. The hotel needs to be advertised as a “Club Hotel” where you come to NOT sleep. I appreciate the night life but again, the false misinformation on how loud it truly is should be rectified. Besides that it was everything I expected!

Night out in Flagstaff
- 4/5
Downtown Flagstaff was vibrant and entertaining. Very fun place to stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was nice
- 5/5
Solid pick for downtown hotel.
- 4/5
A classic, quirky architecturally significant hotel, supposedly haunted, but I saw no evidence.
- 1/5
Dirty, dingy rooms and furnishings; dirty, moldy bathroom;
- 5/5
Love the hotel and preservation of this historic site. We stayed next to some "haunted" rooms but there really wasn't anything out of the ordinary that happened during our stay. This was easily the loudest hotel I have ever stayed at as the bars and street were both very active. Parking was anxiety inducing as I could either find a spot close or walk 2 or 3 blocks and pay if the lot was full. The bed was not terribly comfortable but was fine. I would probably stay here again as walking around historic downtown was great and offered plenty of things to do.
- 2/5
Front desk staff needs work, not attentive or informative, first thing first..no restrooms in rooms or showers..public restroom & shower which were dirty 1 small sink in the hall, no ice machine & the room was dirty, bedding was filthy..location was great..thats it
- 5/5
This was my second time staying here, and it was just as good as the first. I love this historic hotel, I love the antique feel of it, and its central location in downtown Flagstaff is ideal. We had a corner room with a great view, a comfortable bed, and fast wifi. Check in and check out was a breeze, and the lively atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Parking is limited, but nearly everything is within walking distance.
- 3/5
Very old very small rooms highly do not recommend
- 4/5
The moment I walked in this place I felt an energy even when I was alone it felt like I was not. Place is definitely haunted. The hotel staff were awesome the price was decent and it’s conveniently located downtown Flagstaff. A great place for solo travelers and couples, would I stay there agin
- 4/5
I love the Monte Vista, and I usually stay here when I visit Flagstaff. The facility isn't perfect because it is old, but it is well maintained, and the owners have done a good job of balancing the need for modern amenities with preserving the historic character of the hotel.
- 5/5
Neat old hotel, close to everything in flagstaff.
- 4/5
Sheets need to be changed. Room 212. My sister is witness to stained sheets. Room 211 needs new flooring. Stinks. Was supposed to be the room for me to be in.
- 3/5
Our bathroom was not clean, couldn’t get extra pillows, and the staff was horrible! It was noisy there as well! Pull out sofa was broken and who knows if the sheets were clean or not! Mattress on the pullout sofa had springs that you could feel all over!
- 5/5
Cool area that's rich in history. Loved all the unique shops within walking distance.
- 4/5
This is a great Hotel but has become a hot spot for the young college kids. They have taken over the night life leaving no room for the hotel guests to get a drink and socialize. Also, the bed was rock hard so could not get good sleep. That and the music goes to 2:00AM so be prepared with ear plugs. We still like Monty V's but maybe section off the far end of bar for paying guests only and let the kids wait on us instead of other way around.
- 4/5
Security at the lobby during nights act like rent-a-cops. There is many ways to approach a customer if the did something wrong and treatening to kick them of the property is not one of them. No civility or effort to correct the action. Bathroom in our room was not clean properly either. The location of the hotel is great, but the parking isnt. Front desk is responsive and gives local recommendation. Overall the stay was 4/5. Hotel is historic and has a great ambiance.

Went to college in Flag, but never had the opportunity to experience the Monte V. So glad I have now! It's just perfect! A gem! A welcoming lobby, bar area is great, room was clean & cozy. We were on top floor so didn't have any noise issues or concerns. We slept like babies! Such a great-central location to everything you need! Awesome food and entertainment within steps. The only bummer was the rep at front desk didn't seem very happy or welcoming.
- 5/5
Fun place
- 2/5
It’s obviously an old hotel. Floors are pretty dirty. It’s nice and boutique. But for the price, I would’ve expected to have parking. They have this very small alleyway as a parking. And all of the parking spots are literally always filled up. We had to park like three blocks down. Very annoying.
- 5/5
Place is fantastic
- 4/5
I gave this hotel a 4 star due to it being what it said would be. As a ghost hunter, I give it 5 stars since there is a hot bed of paranormal activity which would satisfy any curious soul for proof of the other side. I did not give it overall, a perfect score because it is noisy. There's a bar Rendevous on the lobby floor that has late night drinking activity. In addition, it is located in downtown Flagstaff where you start hearing morning activity around 6 am. It's great as a one night stay, but for a longer visit, I would put the noise factor in when making your decision about a longer stay.
- 5/5
Good service thanks !!!
- 5/5
I love the location and the quirkyness of it
- 5/5
Had a great one night stay at this historic hotel. Has a great bar that plays a mix of punk, industrial and rock. Friendly staff. One thing to note a suite will have two rooms. Can’t say anything bad .
- 4/5
A/C in room could not keep up with the heat. Other than that everything was great.
- 5/5
In the heart of downtown, old flagstaff. Within walking distance of great food and drinks. Hotel was super clean and comfortable. Fantastic upgrades to the bathroom and flooring (soundproof) yet still keeping its historic charm.
- 3/5
Clean rooms however the wall ac unit was off when we checked in. The unit did not work correctly & never cooled the front room. I had a 2 room suite. Why was the ac unit shut off to begin with ?
- 5/5
It was tremendous! I would definitely recommend it to any of my family, member friends, etc.
- 1/5
If only zero stars were available . . . arrived at 11:30pm via Amtrak. Lobby is sandwiched between a club and a crazy bar. Drunks roaming the lobby, loud, loud, loud. I asked if I would hear this from my room, and I was handed earplugs. Took the elevator to the 2nd floor because drunks were making out in the stairwell. My room door wasn’t locked, I went in and almost cried. Flashing disco lights outside my window, dirty toilet, it was awful. Called five nearby hotels, nothing available. Thank goodness for the earplugs and pm aspirin, I was able to sleep. Checked out first thing in the morning. Asked for manager to call, never happened. I was told they would be in next day, they were not. When I called back, told later this week. So I lost a nights stay, better than staying there again. This place could be so much, but sadly it’s not. Sadly, and definitely my mistake, I had not read all of the reviews.
- 3/5
The room was very cute. However, the room had poor ventilation after taking a shower and made the room humid. Great location to walking around downtown.
- 4/5
We were there for just one night and really didn't spend much time in the room. We wanted to stay there for the nostalgia and that did not disappoint! It is perfectly located for walking every where downtown and the attached bar makes it convenient to walk up to your room at the end of the night.
- 5/5
The hotel was as old as it is and just a beautiful place to stay
- 4/5
The location was ideal.
- 3/5
Stayed here for its convenient location. With a little effort and $, ownership could make this something spectacular…
- 5/5
Love the location and the quirky old details.
- 4/5
Overall, pretty good. It's an old historic hotel, it's all about the experience. Very limited parking, had to park a block away and walk in...
- 5/5
Love the building and our room was comfortable. Very clean facility with a fun bar and a lounge downstairs. Great location-walkable to a lot of restaurants and bars. Parking for us was alright-we were lucky to get a spot in the hotel lot-but it would have been challenging to find parking if we hadn't.
- 4/5
Overall we had a very good stay.
- 3/5
Didn’t realize it was a shared bathroom until after I booked the room and not actually a shared bathroom, more of a hall bathroom like in College dorms in the 70’s.
- 5/5
I absolutely LOVED this hotel, however, due to the age of this amazing building and when it was built, there's no air conditioning in the rooms. They do have heat. We when went in April and it was cold out at night so we opened our windows and slept pretty comfortably with ceiling fans on full blast. Room was just lovely!! Our extra guest out by the elevator was fun too. He played nice.
- 5/5
We love the history and location. A really fun place.
- 4/5
We enjoyed the historic hotel. It was nice for our day for NU graduation.
- 5/5
Great location for the 4th of July race and parade
- 3/5
This hotel is a true architectural gem with a rich history. It needs additional love and care before it can host guests. Bathrooms need to be redone, rooms need better decor that is more true to the period, and less pieced together. floors need attention. The most challenging part, was that it was incredibly noisy until 3am because I was above the bar - request a room AWAY from the bar - people were loud on the street all night. Some sort of delivery woke me again at 4am. This hotel deserves more love and care and a substantial financial investment to bring it back to its former glory.
- 4/5
needs upgrade nice locations
- 3/5
I first stated this prosperity and approximately 2007. A lot of things have changed since then and few of them for the better. This property has not been updated since I can remember. I had the Freddie Mercury room and the carpet was absolutely filthy. The bedding was probably there in 2007. Time to sell this property to some investors that can put some money in Life360 back into it and turn it into his former glory. I won’t be staying here again after having saved their previously at least a half a dozen times.
- 2/5
The staff is extremely rude. They do not care about guests and guests experience. You are supposed to receive complimentary coffee and when I went down for coffee at 8 am they were out. When I asked if they could make more I was told to go across the street. The attached espresso bar was also filled with rude staff. You will sit there for a long time without being acknowledged and ignored.
- 4/5
Character 10/10. Could improve on amenities
- 5/5
Really nice stay Lots going on in the area hotel restaurant excellent
- 4/5
I adore this hotel I love the history and little quarks and epic sign and it’s in the perfect area of downtown Flag. The music near by was loud until 1:30 AM. I read the reviews prior and thought people were being wimps but it was loud with bass thumping.
- 4/5
Great location downtown by all the nightlife. Can get noisy trying to sleep.
- 5/5
Great location, we always stay here when visiting from the valley!
- 4/5
Convenient location to train stations.
- 5/5
Nice chill spot to get away for a mid-way Grand Canyon adventure. Quality stay
- 5/5
The check in staff are great. The gentleman who checked me in and the night clerk lady who let me leave my luggage after I got off Amtrak at 4 AM - both are star employees

- 1/5
The hotel was in a great location for restaurants and shopping, but parking was limited, and the noise from the main floor bar, neighboring bars, and party busses was unbearable til 2AM. Plus, it was the end of May and the rooms were uncomfortably hot. No air conditioning provided until June I understand. And the furnishings in the room were very worn, however the beds were reasonably comfortable. A couple of the staff members were amazing but the other half were rude. If you’re picky, don’t stay here. You’d be better off at one of the modern chains across from the university.
- 3/5
Took forever to check in. Room is dated, dirty and has holes in the wall. Ambiance/decor is cute. Staff had to install a wall a/c while I was here. Was extremely difficult to sleep with street traffic/noise going ALL night right outside the window
- 2/5
Room 1 had not been cleaned when we arrived at 5:15PM. Room 2 experienced a domestic violence incident next door requiring the police at 4AM. Hotel bar music very loud. Carpeting on stairs to 2nd floor ragged and duct-taped. Not a good experience.
- 3/5
It is an old hotel and could use some updates. The receptionist was not friendly or helpful. Our room was over a bar which had loud music both nights until quite late. The location is great and our room was reasonably clean, but the property needs work. I would not stay there again.
- 2/5
Location is good with a lot in the area to see/ explore.
- 5/5
Cool old hotel with lots of personality in the heart of Downtown Flagstaff. Staff are great bar is cool. Night club can get loud but totally ignorable. Cannot beat the location and the prices are reasonable.
- 2/5
Very dirty and outdated!
- 1/5
Really nice staff, we appreciate them. But the hotel almost killed us! Zero sleep for 2 nights, we had to check out a day early and book another hotel. Earplugs at the check-in desk should have been my first clue. Bar and street noise well past 2am, loud cars, trains, activities in the square all night long. I can see this hotel being GREAT if I were 20 years younger and bar hopping. Cute rooms, decent beds, amazing location. Just not where you want to stay if you expect to sleep.
- 3/5
I had a travelers room, no bathroom in the room. Shared one in hallway. The room itself, for an old building, was very good. No complaints. The toilet room was filthy, trash can overflowing. Parking was non existent. Had to park 3 blocks away & pay to park until 8pm. Then free.Info says 1 parking space for each room. Not enforced.
- 3/5
Cool to be in an old hotel. Don't expect much though, and you won't be disappointed.
- 4/5
I enjoyed the old-time feeling to this hotel in Flagstaff that is nearing 100 years old. The rooms are small but had a full bathroom. The hotel is located centrally in historic downtown Flagstaff with lots of places to eat nearby.
- 5/5
Super close to all shops and dining in the middle of downtown.
- 5/5
There really wasn't anything I did not like. Room was beautiful. Bed amazing. Staff was great. Beautiful building. Area is fun, pretty. Great walks. We will definitely be back.
- 2/5
Too noisy
- 4/5
Great location in downtown. Easy to walk to surrounding stores and restaurants. It's an old building with character. Cozy room like a B&B style. No thrills room and not updated so you need to be comfortable with that. I liked it and would stay again. Also, there are local bars on each side of the building that you can walk to from the lobby. Good setup.
- 3/5
I did not like that the hotel did not have A/C.
- 4/5
Everything was close to bars, stores and centrally located
- 5/5
.
- 5/5
I should’ve read the description of the room better so anything wrong was my own fault. The place was wonderful. Just clicked on the wrong room and could not get a refund some of the rooms. There are just a room and a bed and the bathroom is down the hall. The second story where we stayed the bar plays really loud music 2 am so if you’re going to be on the second story, just a heads up
- 5/5
It is always nice when I stay here
- 3/5
They tried to be trendy naming rooms after famous people but interiors had nothing to do with the person in their design. Very average
