Was disgusting. Didn’t even stay, had to go book another hotel.
- 1/5
I have stayed at the red horse a number of times when visiting Frederick MD. But this time I woke up to find 3 cockroaches in the bathroom. The place is getting a little run down. The drapes had holes in them and the bathroom tile had cracks. The low flow shower and faucet aren't to good. The air conditioning works really good.
- 3/5
One of the chairs could have been replace. Dirty stains. H by bottom curtains either washed or replaced. . Had to walk down to basement for breakfast. Not good for bad feet folks. It’s an old hotel I found the beds clean comfortable. Bathrooms also clean. breakfast satisfying.
- 4/5
This place is always convenient and comfortable fir me when I visit my family in the area
- 3.5/5
Close proximity to my destination Elevator was old and I had to figure out that I had to push a door open button on top because door wouldn’t open otherwise
- 0.5/5
The Breakfast was good but we were not informed of the hours of operation, so we missed the first day. There is mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The elevator hasn't been inspected for a while and it broke down. The staff did not inform us of the hours that breakfast was available, so we missed the first day. The staff did not notify us that we had to request that our room be cleaned, so we did not get fresh towels or the beds made. There was also a strong odor of marijuana in our hallway.

Stay was good. Staff were friendly. Towels were GREAT!! Beds were comfy and pillows as well. Elevator is a little funky but once you figure it out...it's good. Hotel itself is older but they have worked to make it better where they can. I would stay there again for sure. Oh breakfast was good as well. Several options.
- 5/5
This hotel is very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
Room was clean and updated. Front desk were courteous and helpful. Will consider for next trip. Excellent location.
- 3/5
Our experience was OK, for one night. The hallways had odors of smoke in some areas, and deodorizer in others. Our room had neither of those, but just smelled a bit stale. Otherwise the room was clean and the tv worked fine.
- 0.5/5
Well I was suppose to have a king room, they put me in a 2 double, went and got a different room that just smelled like urine. Then was given a 3rd room… wasn’t the most helpful staff
- 0.5/5
First, our door key wouldn't work. Every time we would try to get back into our room the door key card wouldn't work. We had to go back down to guest services to have them fix it. The rooms were dingy and smelly. They are dark and not welcoming. The fridge and microwave were unplugged, and the outlet was behind the heavy tv stand. The shower knob was backwards. Not much hot water. You can hear other guests through the vent in the bathroom (as if they were in the bathroom with you). Elevator got stuck. We had to push the open button to get us out of the elevator. It was not the best feeling knowing it gets stuck. We didn't take the elevator after that 1st time. We would prefer to walk up all the flight of steps then get into that elevator. We will never stay at this hotel again and we will never recommend this hotel.

great breakfast
- 3/5
The hot portion of the breakfast was wonderful - great sausage one day and delicious bacon the next. The 'egg suns' were less than than I had hoped for. As someone who cooks, the microwaved, rubbrey 'egg suns' were less than appetizing. There was very CHEERFUL attendant who I have no doubt could have cracked 6 to 12 eggs depending on the expectation when they entered the breakfast room or history , beaten eggs (scrambled eggs are made in 1/2-gal containers) ( added a bit milk (optional) salt and pepper salt to make a soft scramble (in the microwave stirring couple of times) and when they have gotten 'to hard' and rubbery, determined if more scramble eggs were needed. They can be bought in 1/2-gallon milk cartons and REAL NICE AND NOT RUBBERy when initially made only takes 3-4 minutes depending on the amount of egg mixture and stirring every 20-sec or so) and replaced the cook egg tray before they were ready to service them selves.. The hostess in the breakfast was VERY congenial and make the breakfast experience very enjoyable. One day a young mother came in with a newborn to one year in her arm, The hostess if she need some help the making the waffles offering to hold the child while the mother prepared the waffle and the other item she was taking back to the room for the second child. The hostess did not 'insist' that the child could be hurt while she gathered the other items for the children's break face. However she paid close attention to the mother juggling the baby in one arm. It was uneventful, but the Hostess was aware of the potential danger

Entire building reeks of cigarette smoke. There's a one-device-per-day limit on the wifi, which I've never seen at a hotel before.
- 1/5
My experience was terrible. The room was infested with cockroaches all over the furniture. I’ve never seen a Comfort Inn in such poor condition. This place deserves no more than 1 star, and I would never stay here again

Carpets need cleaning, Breakfast area was in the basement. Not convenient for anyone who has difficulty using stairs.
- 2/5
Front desk staff was argumentative We stayed 2 nights & our room was not cleaned, garbage wasn’t emptied, sheets not changed Front entrance door was malfunctioning— it did not open automatically There were bed bugs Room light bulbs had to be changed (because we asked for them to be changed) We went to breakfast room at 8AM & there were 2 yogurts, NO sausages, NO eggs, we had to wait until about 9 AM for food to be put out
- 5/5
The staff are great !! Even went the extra step and helped me carry breakfast to my room !!
- 5/5
Good front desk staff, good food room had what appeared to be red blood stains in floor..room 107.

Shitty property, nothing to like. I waste my money Book the hotel because of Comfort Inn name. 0 Rating. Worst place not worth mom and pop motel are better than this comfort. I book and paid $ 154 on name of comfort inn. I cant beleive Comfort keep this level property in their brand.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous.
- 3/5
For a 2 star hotel it was okay. The cleanliness of the outside and lobby wasn’t ideal, but the room itself was okay. I wouldn’t recommend or revisit but it wasn’t bad
- 3/5
Staff very courteous, breakfast was nice, but it was lumpiest bed I ever slept in.
- 3/5
Rooms were not worth the amount of money asked fir. They looked more like a neighborhood motel. Amenities were less c than .upgrade the eatinnh food list add space saving food carriers. The staff was the best of all. Very respectfull and accomodating. Just great. Rooms dirty carpet spressuee. Low warer in bathroom 405
- 4/5
Nice property Especially for the price!
- 4/5
More variety with breakfast.
- 1/5
cost. Pictures online look nothing like facility. no one ever called me about my complaint. Franchise property with no accountability. Poor
- 4/5
Good breakfast. Easy on/off major highways. Nice areas to visit. Reasonably priced for a one night stay.
- 4/5
The room had all the listed amenities and everything was in good, clean condition. The room was comfortable and the staff were very polite and friendly. Location is convenient. Check-in was slow, but I didn't have any issues.
- 1/5
The air in the room and the entire hotel was dry and stell. The rooms chairs where smelly smelled like cigarettes and had stains need to be thrown out or replaced. The snack machine on our floor didn’t work. customer service wasn’t good the from desk man was rude and said he called me many times and never received a single call. The sign in the front is asking for help but it’s not even spelled correctly it says hel wants. Overall it was a horrible experience
- 2/5
Properly is dirty, and smells like marijuana.
- 3/5
room was okay was clean but kinda small...sketchy neighborhood around the area and some people hanging outside were definitely not to be trusted but area lighted well and across the road is all types of retail establishments so that's convenient...great restaurant right next door, red Horse restaurant been there 40+ years and great ambience and food there, mostly a high end steak place, bartender very friendly
- 2/5
Person in the back parking lot running and revving his car engine at 3:30 in the morning. Lots of action going on around the outside of the hotel at night. Desk attendant the next morning seemed unconcerned with this info.
- 4/5
Very dated property. Site was clean, but dingy due to age.
- 4/5
Sheets/bedding was stained...

Microwave didn't work..Refrigerator wasn't right temp. hair dryer didn't work..had to ask to dump my garbage after 4 days and also ask for clean towels....bugs in bathroom early morning..someone should really check this room out.

- 3/5
There was a foul smell in the hallway for many days. Humidity in the room. Staff did not change toiletteries nor clean the room even once for a 5-day and 3-night reservation, even upon request. We like the proximity to stores and restaurants. It is quiet.

Fair price for the room. Good breakfast options.

When we return, there were three police cars in the front of the hotel. Who were responding to a call for a strange man I saw earlier in the lobby. Later that night the same man was screaming and banging on doors naked and bloody. The police came and arrested him. I clearly heard the policeman arresting this disturbed individual. In the morning my uncle and I walked towards the elevator. There were heavy blood stains on the walls and on the carpet. Even the surveillance camera by the elevator had blood on it. I never leave reviews but I was so scared for my uncle and I, that I wanted to warn future visitors not to book at this property. They need to cater only to the unfortunate and leave out us visitors for our safety.
- 2/5
The hotel did not provide room service. No one made the bed, replace my dirty linen or towels, or emptied my trash during my entire stay.
- 4/5
The carpet in the room had a smell needed carpet powder and staff wasnt really friendly
- 1/5
There were dead roaches in the bathroom, the main door had a large gap on the bottom, there was weird perhaps drug deals going on in the parking lot, the room was crazy expensive and no exceptional amenities matching the price I paid
- 3/5
The room smelled musty. Not sure why.
- 3/5
Shower pressure was not good
- 2/5
My room smelled like cat urine. The tile in the bathroom was mildewed. I asked for a late check out when I arrived. It was granted. The next day the manager was rude and a smart aleck about it. “If you had late checkout, why isn’t it the computer?” Like I should know.
- 3/5
Poor
- 5/5
the building could use some updates but the staff were very nice and helpful
- 4/5
Nice place for the price. Breakfast, rooms clean. The location ius near many reseruants, shops, a cannabis store. I come for work so I will defiantly stay again.
- 4/5
All linens and bathroom was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Property older and shows signs of wear. Some wall issues not repaired professionally.
- 4/5
4/5 I feel is fair. Staff was nice and helpful, but you get what you pay for. Some areas were unclean, such as a stain or two on the chair and foot rest. But other areas were clean such as the bed, fridge, and bathroom. No bugs or pests noticed and convenient area with lots to eat. Second time staying here and haven’t run into any major complications that make me want to stay somewhere else.
- 5/5
This was my 2nd visit to the Red Horse Inn. I stayed 50 years ago with my Hood College girlfriend for a night of carnal pleasure. 50 years later the Red Horse is showing some signs of wear (as is my wife) but they both exceeded my expectations. The iconic red horse still stands proudly on the roof, a real Frederick landmark. And while i must restrain myself a bit with my geriatric wife, i may have slipped into 'beast mode' and become a bit of a untamed stallion during our frenzied lovemaking. Thank you Red Horse!
- 1/5
I could not shower , front desk tried to say the water was fine and sometimes itakes awhile
- 1/5
Cockroaches in bathroom
- 3/5
It was a decent hotel, the halls smelled like cannabis, which is funny because they talk about a smoking charge if they think you smoke in your room. The continental breakfast was actually pretty solid. No real complaints except the price of an OK hotel nowadays, but nothing we can do about that.
- 3/5
Staff members are very nice but the hotel is very old and not updated at all. Not well maintained neither.
- 3/5
While I appreciate the breakfast, it is cumbersome to access. A flight of stairs is involved, which is bad for limited mobility people like myself.
- 4/5
Good shower. However, the stopper in the sink is bad. You have to pick at it with your fingers to drain the sink. Other than that, great room.
- 5/5
Great staff!
- 5/5
Excellent customer service
- 2/5
No cushion. Will never stay here again. Finally, I usually stay in Hilton hotels. Not any morre. Unhappy with the two beds in room 300. No quality control at this Hilton hotel.
- 3/5
I made the mistake of not reading the posted reviews, I tried to call and make changes but of course the manager was not available and you can't talk to a live person on hotels.com. I gave up and we went anyway to the hotel. it does not look like the pictures for sure but was pleasantly surprised the rooms were not as bad as the previous ones posted. It was clean not noisy as others stated. The breakfast was adequate for what we paid. The tubs drained and I really did not have any complaints for the value and what we paid for the room.

Carpet definitely needs to be replaced. Other wise good for age.
- 4/5
They don't give out extra towels for washing up!!
- 4/5
The property is aged and it shows. The night staff was amazing. The beds were comfortable. We were only really there for a few hours to catch up on some sleep on our road trip.
- 3/5
This hotel is in dire need of renovations, not very clean, but service desk people are friendly, breakfast is ok. Location is convenient for us. And the price is right!
- 1/5
I checked in and checked right out due to the overwhelming odor in the hallway and in my room. The mixture of marijuana, cigarettes and air freshener doesn't smell too well.
- 1/5
Room smell so bad. Worst experience.
- 2/5
The table lamp was faulty and did not remain on consistently when I turned it on. The bed and pillows were reasonably comfortable and the TV set and microwave worked properly, at least.
- 1/5
Was old and dirty
- 3/5
The hotel is is dire need of maintenance and updating.
- 2/5
Water was cold,,,,Shower had no pressure,,,,Mouse hole in the wall.... Room was not ready at check-in time,,,bed was old and lumpy...no handycap to the lower floor
- 4/5
Nice staff, Glad to see that they are hiring minorities, but maybe a alexa at the desk to help translate? Signage for the breakfast was vague and didn't say that it was on a different floor.

Next door to Red Horse Restaurant, and the red horse statues lend a touch of nostalgia and uniqueness. Staff was very helpful.
- 2/5
Crackhead people around even ate at breakfast area. Uncomfortable. They stood outside of the hotel too.
- 4/5
Thanks!
- 4/5
Super clean older hotel. Great value for the money.
- 1/5
Avoid this hotel. I checked out 2 hours later to go stay at another hotel. No refund for 2 nights that were prepaid.
- 1/5
This hotel needs pest control. I saw a few roaches crawling in the bathroom. I didn’t feel good about leaving my luggage open. No one wants to take roaches back home with them. I won’t be staying here again.
- 3/5
It was an ok stay for a day but definitely not for longer stays
- 4/5
This hotel is easy on and off the highway location with dining within walking distance. Clean with nice sheets and towels. Great free breakfast with stay
- 1/5
Bathroom door could not be shut - tv didn’t work - bedding below the bottom of of the mattresses. Was soiled - basement hallways and the room itself was shabby - was not able to be transferred to another room or have the bathroom door fixed to close for privacy - only good thing about the experience was the courteous and friendly young women working at checking desk - we had to leave to find other accomodations for two nights and requested a full refund to our Visa Card - am waiting for a reply and full refund now!
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to highway.
- 2/5
No hot water for shower this morning.
- 3/5
It was a definite "Okay." The hotel is old and out of date. They advertise breakfast from 6-9 each morning...there was no breakfast, only coffee. They advertise a restaurant associated with the hotel, it's been closed for quite some time...makes me wonder if the room service menu in each room was just as out-of-date. Bare lightbulbs...old, worn carpets. I can say the front desk staff were very friendly!
- 3/5
The room was not truly clean. We only stayed one night prior to a wedding in the area so we made the best of it. There was dust in the vents, lots of hair in the shower drain, stains all over the carpet, and an oily substance on the desk and TV stand. It was really not ideal at all.
- 2/5
The wait to check in was very long. Very little engagement from staff as we entered and exited the building. The room was dirty with a serious big infestation. The closet door was broken and barely attached to the wall. Unsavory clientele were hanging around the public spaces in the hotel.
- 3/5
Dining had walk down steps & limited in options in choices
- 5/5
The Comfort Inn doesn't pretend to be a luxury hotel, but no one seems to have told that to the staff. Unfortunately, I left some items in the hotel room when checking out. The staff bent over backwards the following day to enable me to recover my items. I truly appreciated their willingness to go beyond the usual perfunctory service so common in other locations.
- 4/5
Not well maintained but mostly a safe, affordable, and comfortable hotel to stay in for my stop through Frederick.
- 4/5
Overnight stay. Room had a few stain marks but was clean and quiet. A/C worked great. Water pressure was strong, with quick hot water in flow. Bed was comfortable w/ plenty of pillows. Breakfast was adequate w/ staff replenishing when running low. Had a good night rest.
- 3/5
Not very appealing… the room had a strange order… don’t think I would recommend this hotel to anyone
- 3/5
It says the room is non smoking but it is giving a bad smoke smell in the walkway and also in the room
- 4/5
Furniture in the lobby is old and should be clean. Staff is friendly but check-in took too long, computer was not working properly.
- 3/5
The staff was really awesome, friendly, helpful, all of them. The room was clean and comfortable. However, the shower rod was held up with 1 screw and a ton of caulk and the shower curtain would not do anything but roll to the middle of the rod and water poured out onto the floor every time you took a shower. It would be a simple fix, but it was just awful and poorly done. My room key did not work until the day I checked out when the manager finally got it to work. I had to get the front desk people to let me in every time I went in and out - luckily for me and them I was on the first floor only 4 rooms down - but had I been on a higher floor it would not have been good. So room was clean and nicely done, but you cannot let the condition of the bathroom stand. It's unacceptable for any standard. Plus holes in the wall by the vent - no patching, sloppy job, looked substandard.
- 2/5
I picked this hotel because it was close to where my friend lives and had decent reviews, but DO NOT RECOMMEND. It was very run down. When we got into the tiny elevator to go up to our room I noticed it was very dirty. The hallways had lots of miscellaneous stains on the carpet and dingy walls. And then when we got into our room the lights were not connected to the switch by the door so we had to walk through the dark to turn a light on AND THEN my husband SAW a couple of ROACHES scurry away as the lights came on. He also saw roach eggs (he lived in some pretty sketch places as a kid, so is unfortunately familiar) and there were several small stains on the walls that looked like they were from bugs being smashed. When we complained to staff she was nice enough, but did say that room "wasn't usually a problem," which was not reassuring AT ALL. We were "upgraded" to a jacuzzi room, which we did not find any bugs in, but was also kind of dirty. There was pen or crayon scribbles ALL OVER the bottom half of the drapes. The ceiling in the bathroom looked like it had been poorly patched up after water damage. There was no trim between the jacuzzi tub and the regular flooring, just an awkward strip of bare flooring. We arrived late so sucked it up because we didn't have energy to find another place. The only positive I have is that the bed was actually fairly comfortable. I slept well, once I was able to sleep (visions of bugs crawling on me were distracting).
- 2/5
Don’t stay here.
- 3/5
Con: Quite dated, old carpets, beds and bathrooms. Basement cave breakfast. Odd smells and security cameras everywhere making it not real relaxing

Had a pleasant experience staying in this hotel. Room is clean and customer service is great.

Was traveling with wife and sons (15 & 16). Half the power outlets in the room were none functional. The AC would not lower the room temp below 80. The front desk refused to move us to another room. All in all, it was miserable, and we check out the next day after 1 night. All in all a disappointing stay and cannot recommend this place

I want a cheap and clean room. Thats what I got. Hotels.com stated there was a breakfast with the room. They do not have breakfast of any kind.

The room was clean but smelled musty. They had just cleaned the carpets and not aired out the room or turned on the AC. The shower curtain was torn, as was the cushion on the chair. There was an unidentifiable stain on the side of the box spring. All in all a solid Meh on the recommendation scale.

Dirty, run down, broken furniture, stairs coming apart, rusty shower drain, no toilet paper holder oh and the elevator was out of order! But shockingly the beds were actually comfortable.

The staff was friendly. When the hairdryer didn't work, someone appeared immediately to install a new one. Breakfast hours lasted for a long time and the food was reasonable.

It was just ok, the elevator was broken so we had to walk to the 3rd floor, also the stair way was really smelly. Staff was really friendly and apologized for the inconvenience. Room was good enough to spend the night.
