Super clean establishment with a calm environment. Would stay here again

One of the front desk people doesn’t speak much English, so we had a really hard time communicating with him. My husband asked two different days for more coffee for the room, and the guy just pointed to the coffee in the lobby and said, “coffee.” The maid service changed our towels daily (even though they were hung & not on the floor), but they didn’t replenish the coffee or make the bed. The elevator smelled awful, so we took the three flights of stairs to the room each time. Overall, it wasn’t a bad place. The price was definitely right!

It was close to our event. There was a crackhead in the parking lot during our stay that came up to me, the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable, the room smelled so bad. We were charged $87 for towels that we didn’t even use. They claimed we stole them. I don’t think they were in the room to begin with. I never really check because we always bring our own. The manager said the property owner would call me to discuss further after he rejected my request to refund me for their error but he never did.

Room is clean and spacious. The staff is amazing.

I had an amazing stay at the Mainstay hotel. It started off by meeting the receptionist by the name of Dana. I would give her a 10 out of 10 rating. She was awesome in helping me feel welcomed. She tended to any information I needed and/or needs. The room was clean and peaceful. However, the mattress hard so it gave me a bit of a struggle to get comfortable. The kitchen was perfect. The showering was great, but the toilet sits very low so if you have bad knees, this could be a struggle. Overall, I did enjoy my peaceful stay at this hotel. I would come back.

Checking out a pleasant woman, I did not catch her name, was at the desk to take my room keys. Location was great, restaurants & grocery nearby. I was very pleased with my accommodations. Great Job to whomever is running this property.

Staff was good. Got charged a pet fee of 25 dollars each pet, even though the web site did not specify how much or if there was even a pet fee. Could have stayed somewhere else cheaper.

Great location; very clean room; excellent rates.

We asked for a rollaway bed ahead of time as stated on the hotels website that they were available and when we got there they had none. Bed was uncomfortable and my son had to sleep on the couch which was hard and smelled. Shower overflowed and got bathroom floor soaked.
- 5/5
Very nice clean room every type of anatomy that could be needed with a new little comfortable hotel small apartment stay for a vacation for no matter what day
- 4/5
Convenient location. The TV mount had loose screws, though.

Room was clean. Biggest issue was the strong smell of cooking all around the place. Specifically, strong smell in the corridor and the room

Great 👍
- 4/5
The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful!
- 4/5
It’s located near everything that is convenient. It’s not too far from what you need such as restaurants, shopping stores, or fun amenities like Kemah Boardwalk! It’s not that I didn’t like, but was a little cautious for it being tucked away in the corner, however, it really was a nice stay.
- 1/5
The staffing and management were very professional and nice and apologetic My room door was very hard to get in...once inside it was roach infested I brought food and wasn't able to cook so I had to spend extra money that I didn't have... room had a AC unit on floor told by management that it would keep cool by the end of the day I needed 2 fans and it was still hot throughout the night my guest left because it was uncomfortable the roaches was horrible...very uncomfortable couldn't rest I checked out around 7:00am
- 5/5
Air conditioning heating could be better and tv was not working properly it was old and not modern

Que hay que solicitar siempre el servicio de limpieza si no, no van. Pero de ahí en fuera todo en orden.
- 2/5
I’ll give them this, they are trying. They’re in the middle of renovating a pretty old and rundown facility.
- 3/5
The property managers are really trying hard to clean up the place - it is clear they are working hard. Saw folks spraying for pests, but they were still in the room. Nice note to welcome us - handwritten! Nice touch. Front desk staff VERY friendly.
- 2/5
Property was not kept well. Towel racks missing from the wall in bathroom. Two pit bulls were on the property while we brought our small dog, making us all unsafe. Both pit bulls got in a fight in front of our room. Staff informed us that the owner of one of the pit bulls had been staying on the property “for a while”. Why? The location was good for getting to Johnson Space Center for a camp, but it was not a clean, safe place to stay.
- 3/5
The front desk staff and workers around the property were very nice and courteous. The rooms were spacious with the 2 queen suite having two rooms, a kitchen, and living area. However, it is in need of some serious renovations. There was a large quantity of what appeared to be mold in the bathroom, and the sofas had multiple stains. The shower handles were not screwed in and made it difficult to adjust the temperature. There were also many gnats flying around. 2/3 Tvs worked well and could connect to Netflix and YouTube.
- 3/5
Mold in the room

Staff was exceptionally friendly and he
- 2/5
Wet carpet, wet sofa, bad smell.....a huge cockroach
- 1/5
Terrible. Got there my roo. Was not ready, they switched me to a studio. First night, i wole up to a bug crawling o. My leg and found another on top of the mirror. They would've change my room and told me the maintenance guys was off, on a Friday. I stayed at my daughter's house and came back Saturday and checked out. No one had been to my room and no sprayi g happened. I was yold the exterminator was there on Wednesday and the bug scatter. Do not book here. The guyI checked out with was really nice. He said his manger was going to check me out remotely and credit my last two days ( should have been at leadt three days). I am still waiting for my refund.
- 2/5
Roach motel. Pest control even came to each room during my visit. Management knocked on all the doors and multiple of us had our doors open so the pest control guy could spray. I still had roaches for the remaining 2 days of my stay. Was waiting on a family member to be discharged from the hospital next door which made visits super convenient which is the only reason I stay. Staff was super friendly though. Place looks nice and clean to the eye but there’s just a German cockroach issue.
- 1/5
Worst stay ever!!! The TV did not work and would randomly glitch (the cable antenna was Jerry rigged with a spark plug and another cable), the room was not cleaned (crumbs on and a napkin on the floor from MOD pizza - We did not go to MOD), there was a roach in the sink, the shower did not have any soaps to shower with (they were missing), the bathroom sink stopper was broke, the couch had stains, and the ac had specs on mold and dead roaches on it… and of course manager was not in during check out and was told she was going to call me the next morning (and did not) and when I tried to call the phone is a busy tone constantly…
- 1/5
There were Roaches in the kitchen and on bed. The place is gross. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE.
- 1/5
Very humid in the whole property. Strong mold smell in the unit I stayed. Got a welcome card on a side table together with a cockroach running next to it. The bed felt damp and the sheets had strong odor as if being used. Asked another set of sheets. They came warm but still have similar used odor on them. Mold on the AC air outlet. Front desk was nice and tried their best.
- 3/5
Room smelled. A lot of maintenance details needed
- 3/5
Will not go back!
- 1/5
smelt bad
- 4/5
Excellent staff, starting with Courtney at the front desk, John, maintaince, & everyone else
- 1/5
The employee working the front desk was very nice and helpful (I believe her name was Destiny). However, the room was quite dirty and poorly maintained and the entire building smelled strongly of urine. My 2-year-old daughter pulled drug paraphernalia out of the couch cushions, so be sure to check everything thoroughly if you stay here with children.
- 2/5
The hotel was dirty, smelly, and not clean at all. The front desk girl was very nice and polite and really tried to accommodate me.
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff!
- 1/5
encountered! The smell in the hallways and inside the rooms are insane. The TV's didnt work. When we called about it, we were told that it goes "in and out"! I guess it went out and never came back in! The bathroom doors didnt close properly so they can lock. The sink faucet for hot water takes 2 people to turn on its so tight, and when you do turn it on, it leaks everywhere. On top of that, theres a 100 dollar deposit, which i understand, but i think we should charge them 100 dollars for even allowing people to stay there. Never again!
- 1/5
Very poorly maintained lot of damage and missing hardware cockroaches everywhere in the room
- 5/5
Loved the rooms, the property management is great, and its in the perfect area 5 min from nasa and 10 min from the malls. Will stay there every time we are in the area
- 4/5
ok
- 5/5
Good service
- 5/5
It was ok
- 1/5
It smelled of marijuana in the rooms and hallway, and was given a room with an adjacent door and for me I was very uncomfortable with that
- 1/5
Doubled billed on deposit. Room was not clean. Coffee pot smelled of mold. Would not recommend staying at this property
- 1/5
They would only allow 3 towels and there were 7 in our suite, we ran out of toilet paper, they told us we would have to wait u til Monday, as they keep that closet locked and only the manager has a key. Asked for kleenex, nope we are out! Asked for soap, nope, we are upgrading and don't provide it any longer. They provided a roll away bed, which was appreciated, yet could not get sheets. Curtains were shredded and just hanging, the lamps in the bedrooms did not work, wallpaper peeled off wall. Stains all over couch and ottoman. No utensils in the kitchen, only 2 cups, 2 glasses and no pots or pans. So! to say the least it was miserable.......
- 1/5
Left for dinner, returned and hallway also reeked of Marijuana. At about 11 pm door opened with a key and it was front desk personnel. She apologized profusely assuming the room was empty. The whole night i couldnt sleep, Marijuana smell from hallway was seeping through, everytime i heard the building door open, which was just outside room, i felt as if someone was entering my room, like earlier. Terrible mistakes and terrible hotel. Definitely DO NOT Recommend.
- 4/5
Not the quietest, walls seem thin but overall l liked it. Kitchenette and full size coffee pot.
- 1/5
Furthermore the manager has no customer service skills or basic understanding of purchase & receipt. Beware!! Beware!! The hotel charges guest an unexpected deposit at check in but she refuses to give a receipt for the charge. Then I was alerted by my card later that "someone" from Mainstay constantly tried to make unauthorized charges on my card. Fortunately the card was locked. Several of the staff live on property & hang around the office entrance smoking. AVOID this place!! They need to get new management before the current manager & staff run this property further into the ground.
- 4/5
The room looked and smelled clean. The pillows and sheets smelled freshly washed. The ac unit was clean and quiet.
- 2/5
When I arrived in my room, the TV cable and TV were partly pulled out of the wall(broken plates and wires hanging down. As a result TV and WiFi were intermittent to on-existent. I reported this immediately. Ii was not offered an alternate room. Instead, I was told that maintenance had left for the day (it was 4 pm), and it would be fixed the next morning. It was not, so I had another evening without TV or internet. Also, the thermostat didn’t work. The room was clean and otherwise fine, but I will likely avoid this chain in the future.
- 3/5
The young lady on the night shift was phenomenal as were the other staff but the only complaint would the sheets should be cleaned better. There was left over stains on the sheets
- 1/5
Some man broke into our room through the window.
- 3/5
The room was not up to par. Light burned out in bathroom, stains all over carpet, outlet covers missing which is dangerous. Looks like the smoke detector was missing from the ceiling. The room had a bit of odor. However, room was quiet and bed comfortable.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, comfortable bed and the room was above and beyond my expectations
- 2/5
The property was nice. As for as room #205, there were dead roaches and live roaches on walls and crawling on room door and cabinet doors (recorded and showed video to secretary of roaches crawling on wall) as well as bed bugs in the first room. Talked to secretary, got moved to 3rd floor rm 304, room was in much better condition but when it started raining, it started leaking in the window pane and water leaked into AC. Stay wasnt the greatest but pest control most definitely needs to be prioritized frequently due to those kind of situations.
- 1/5
There were roaches on the dishes. Big wet spot on the carpet. People were up all hours of the night yelling and selling. Young lady at the front desk was very nice. Showed her pictures of the roaches.
- 2/5
It says non-smoking, but the room and hallway reeked of cigarette smoke, and mold. It was hard to sleep with how heavy the smoke smell was. It wasn't the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, but it was close.
- 2/5
My room wreaked of old animal urine and wet dog. There was mold on the a/c vent/ceiling around the vent. The carpet was stained. The tv’s half worked, limited channels. The baseboards in the bathroom were pealing from the walls/tub. The toilet seat was too large for the toilet and broken. It was my birthday trip, and the room was very unpleasant. I even called the front desk to switch rooms, but she stated they were SOLD OUT for the night and that if I wanted a refund, it would be 5-7 business days. I felt they could have been more understanding or had a better solution to problems, even half off would have been a nice gesture.
- 5/5
I’ve been here for a week and a half. Everything was perfect, except for the “Accessible” bathroom. I have leg and foot conditions. The tub was very narrow and the sides were rather high. I need a shower seat as well due to vertigo issues. Also, the toilet is rather short. Should have an higher, handicapped toilet. Other than that, I had a great stay!
- 4/5
Good spot for business.
- 2/5
Floors in the bathroom and kitchen were a mess, TV didn't work, and the last night I was there had to kill a cockroach.
- 5/5
Buildings are undergoing renovations for improvement. Everything is adequate if not spectacular. The most impressive part of this stay is the staff. Jessica and Dana from the front desk, Rosalina of the housekeeping staff and Johnny from maintenance….all of these folks seemed not only willing but happy to help with any issues that were identified. They are the real stars of this place.
- 1/5
When checking in we.was gven a room not cleaned, so the front desk changed that to room the bed was made but the cleaniness of table tops and bathroom seemed neglected. At night after 2 am you coukd hear people outside in the parking lot just hanging out and the smell of the smoke was overbearing. I didn't rest at all from the noise and the feeling of the room not throughly cleaned. I cleaned it didn't seem like it. Couch looks worn out and most of the faucets was loose or appeare old and leaking. We have stayed here the last 5 times we have come to Hoiston but this will definitely be our last time. I didnt know this was considered a residential arear and i understand people pay their money but this place needs security for its after hours activities. Upon check out the front desk seem distracted and not concern
- 2/5
The first room they put us in had black mold all over the shower and bathroom ceiling. The faucet and water knob for the shower would litterally pull out of the wall by several inches when you tried to use it, so it wasnt even caulked on or sealed right. The floors were torn and shredded. One of the two fire alarms wasnt even on the ceiling it was in a drawer beeping and the other was hanging from the ceiling by exposed wires. Half the furniture was falling apart. The room they moved us to was much cleaner, but the favt they thought that first room was acceptable to move guests in to was ridiculous. Most of the day staff were rather nice, but the night staff lady who swapped our rooms seemed irritated at our request. Will not be staying here again.
- 1/5
I've never stayed at a place that smelled so much like urine from animals! I have a daughter with asthma you think I wanted her in a room like that. And then gave us another room that the tv was broken. I thought I was going to enjoy our night stay and nope! We had to rent another room elsewhere
- 1/5
I was chrcked into a room that someone was already chrcked into. I was downgraded to a smaller room due to unavailability. It smelled horrid in there. There was no way in hell i would wake up the next day had i stayed in that horrible place.
- 1/5
The hotel was absolute trash!! It’s smelled like a cat litter box. Ammonia smell was so strong. The ac vents were molded and the ceiling had mold on it. The couch had cigarette burns on it and the trim around the bathtub was molded and coming apart.
- 5/5
Overall I was beyond impressed with the hotel me and my wife loved it and pretty sure we are staying there again !!
- 3/5
The hotel was nice but the floor was too sticky. The carpet was sticky and you could feel that they haven’t cleaned it in forever. Overall it was great except cleanliness.
- 5/5
Secluded from others and a homey environment.
- 5/5
Would stay there again.
- 3/5
Needs new flooring! It’s peeling up and can’t even walk on it. The carpet is so old, you don’t want to walk on it without something on your feet. All the furniture and beds need to be replaced. You can’t sit on the couch and the beds are so hard you might as well lay on the floor. I thought I was getting a good deal because they said the rooms were on sale. These rooms should be about $29/night or less. Thank you
- 5/5
Thank you for a great stay while evacuating with my son and three dogs for a hurricane!
- 1/5
The cable didn’t work. I didn’t stay in the room. I left. Wanted a refund as well.
- 5/5
I wish i would booked this room for longer. It was a home away from home, and I will be back for another stay soon.
- 4/5
Good.
- 5/5
Very friendly
- 1/5
The gal at the front desk was kind and direct. Our room was clean. But.... the room had warped flooring in the kitche , a leak from the shower, under the wall, and into the kitchen, the shower wouldn't run hot water, and the kitchen faucet ran scalding water. On top of that, the room across from us had a few dogs. I get it: pet friendly. But when your dogs have been barking non stop for about 2 hrs, the appropriate response from front desk is not "we're pet friendly". They refused to do anything about it, even though they were still barking at 12:45am and many many people on our floor were complaining. Either we eventually fell asleep from pure exhaustion, or they stopped, but rest assured they started back up again at 6am.
- 1/5
As far as the rest goes, we had fleas and the room smelled like a wet dog. Odors were strong. I went to ask for a deodorizer since the room smelled horrible. I was not offered another room and we got bit by fleas. We had multiple flea bites, fleas all in the kitchen, restroom, beds, and our luggage! Will never stay here ever again! Fire alarms woke us up 3 times between 6-7am and no fire occurred luckily. Also we found our tv remote inside the bed covers that protect the mattress. Hope management reaches out to us. We were in room 317
- 1/5
Right near NASA. The room has an odor of mold or mildew. I asked to change rooms, but they said they were full. Full kitchenette with some dishes. Around the outside bottom of the tub has stuck on hair and dirt. We had a fire alarm go off on Wednesday morning 5am. Fire department showed up and everything. They lost power at 6am Sunday morning and it was restored 2.5 hours later. Pool was out of order the whole time. This is an at risk booking through hotels.com

The pool was closed still. I know a lot of fixes are happening because of the recent hurricane.
- 4/5
Room was nice but I did experience an ant invasion in the kitchen
- 4/5
I’m it was good but I got sick from the room, the tv didn’t work & they don’t let it be known that it’s a connecting room. :(
- 3/5
I was there to check in at 3 pm didn't get my room until 5 pm just not right
- 2/5
It definitely didn't make me feel good when i was walking to our room with my young son and one of the hotel guests told me to make sure and lock my door because itwas a bad area. We booked this hotel to stay at the night before driving to Galveston for a cruise. It is very run down and dirty. The staff was nice which is why I didn't give it one star.
- 1/5
Elevators not working, pool closed, no batteries in tv remote, only one wash rag, room was not cleaned on second day, towels were never replaced etc…
- 5/5
Staff was on point nice and helpful. Room's are ver clean.
- 1/5
Getting to the property, there no power, and the receptionist can not even try to explain, all I was told is there is no power and nothing they can do, then they still go ahead to charge my card for where I did not stay.
- 1/5
Not a good hotel
- 1/5
Stay away!! This was the most filthy place I have ever stayed from Travelocity. The front desk personnel was outside smoking when I arrived and the hotel smelled horrible. There was so much difficulty getting someone to answer the front desk phone before my stay and not I know why. They claimed the temperature was too cold but they were outside smoking
- 1/5
This hotel called me the morning of my reservation to “confirm” I wanted to stay even though it was fully paid. I confirmed it was for my 84 year old mom who had no electricity after the hurricane and she was in danger from 95° heat with no power. 1 hour before check in they called me back and said they canceled the reservation because they overbooked their reservations. The person who called was extremely rude and unapologetic.
- 1/5
We immediately found another hotel with vacancies and left. The young woman at the desk said she couldn’t give me a refund since it had already passed the cancellation timeframe. 😳 I said it is UNSAFE! On the way back to our car we noticed the dumpster was over flowing with mattresses and trash. A car was on jacks. I called the next day to speak with a manager but was not able to reach them. I will continue to try and get some kind of refund. DO NOT BOOK HERE - save yourself some unnecessary traveling stress.
- 3/5
Staff member Holly appeared to be on drugs
- 1/5
Did NOT get what I paid for!
- 2/5
Was not told to put towels out. So the next day we do not get towels. Kitchen only had two plates and two glasses small bowls nothing to cook with and we had to take turns eating. First night we heard a loud noise and through our eighteen year old had bumped in furniture. Next morning we found window had fell in on chair. We were on second floor. Was no elevator was not informed of this. We like the lay out, and it was quit quiet liked kitchen but there was not need for dishwasher as we never had einough dishes. Livingston furniture was hard. All of staff was very rude.
- 5/5
The room was clean. has some thinys to fix, but overall, it was confy. the hotel is pets friendly, I travel with my dogs and it had no inconvenience about that. The only thing is that the pool was out of service, and the water was green.
- 5/5
Very nice staff, the room was spacious and comfortable to be in; check in was quick. The room does need a few minor repairs, but overall, a good stay.
- 1/5
Swimming pool was closed, Next door dog was barking whole night, most of things are pretty old , sofa was wear and tear. Hotes.com show image of MainStay Suites with Marriott but its NOT. My kids was very upset with no pool
- 4/5
Very unfortunate had a dog next door barking all night.
- 1/5
Discussed with Expedia customer service for a full refund
- 4/5
Everything good for me
- 4/5
The rooms have so much to offer and are very clean
- 5/5
It was a nice place for the price. A lot of shops available nearby and was easy to get around.
- 2/5
No remote control for the TV & TV couldn’t work without it. Toilet seat broken. Front desk said there was nothing they could do.
- 2/5
Staff are friendly and helpful but limited in what they can do regarding customer service. (Lack of toiletry supplies)
- 3/5
For the cost is was great. But the fake wood floor in the bathroom and kitchen were awful it was all warped! They didnt have enough towels we only got 2 full size and every time we went to the desk for more they didnt have any ready !
- 4/5
Not crazy nice but definitely safe and nice for our mini vacation. Only thing that sucked is the pool was freezing it wasn’t heated which that’s something I really enjoy to do on vacation. And no hot tub which is also something I really enjoy on a vacation. We stayed in a 2 room suite .
- 1/5
The night we checked in. We were a little late because of a delay in our flight and then issues with our rental car. We checked in easily and when we got to our room, it hadn't even been cleaned yet. This was about 1 am. So we went and got another room. The sheets were clean, but we sat own to eat our food that we brought and the table was dirty. We then looked around and the .majority of the surfaces hadn't been wiped down. There was even what looked like food splatter on the wall next to the bed. There were also many things on the room in disrepair. The floor was damaged in both the bathroom and the kitchen. The safety bars in the bathroom were very loos, the shower head in the shower wouldn't stay put. The girl at the desk seemed to be helpful at first, as we were leaving and she said that we should be able to get another room later that afternoon. Pretty sure she just threw out list of grievances away because when we came back for the evening, the new desk girl had no idea what we were talking about. We got a new room. It smelled ean and looked clean at least , but the TV wasn't connected to the TV mount and a picture was off the wall and stuffed behind the couch. This hotel needs some major work and needs to hire more professional staff that is not lazy and actually does their job. I know I left stuff out. This hotel is THAT bad!!

I had room 130 in second adjacent building. Carpet and kitchen/bath area was very dirty. Floors felt water damaged from perhaps recent flooding and did not dry properly. Had moldy smell. Bed made me itchy. Stayed only one night and managed thru it but extended stay would be intolerable. Was another room with a dog that barked all night. Should try second floor room. On the plus side, fridge and desk was clean and check in/out was not any problems.

The property was worn and not clean in places. There were holes in the sofa, rotten and mouldy seals around the bath. We booked as a group of 4, two adults and two children but there was only enough cutlery, plates, and glasses for two people. We requested more at reception but the person at the desk didn’t know how to retrieve more. Said she’d ask her manager and they’d bring us some, however the additional items never arrived. The hob didn’t work properly, and one of the tv’s didn’t work. The building also had an odd musty smell. There was a chair and loads of leaves and debris in the pool when we arrived so my daughters missed out on a swim. Having said that the beds were comfy enough, and our particular bedrooms were in a quiet spot so we slept okay. The hotel is in a good location to get to Space Centre Houston, which is only a five minute drive and the main reason we we’re visiting.

THE HOTEL CANCELLED MY RESERVATION. I arrived at the hotel at 1am with two children in tow to find out that the hotel had cancelled my reservation and not informed me. The hotel was of course full and so I had make a last minute reservation in the middle of the night for another hotel. The lady at the front desk was rather uesless and could not tell me why or when my reservation had been cancelled.

The only thing that I wasn't pleased with was i had to reactivate my key card every day which was 3 times in my stay. If I'm ever back in the area I would stay here again.

Door frame to bedroom was broken and bathroom caulking strip on tub pulled down. Room is clean and set up nicely.
