The entire staff was incredibly courteous and helpful, and the property itself is beautiful, immaculate, and loaded with wonderful amenities. We loved using the gym, and taking their golf cart shuttle to dinner one night was an absolute highlight! The location is truly perfect, offering easy walking distance to local shops, sights, restaurants, and the university. With my daughter starting graduate school at UTK, I’ve officially found my permanent lodging for all future visits.

From the moment you pull in and your car is parked, the welcoming greeting and the professionalism walking in the door is exceptional. They actually make you feel you are important and welcome and happy to have you. Everybody treats you like a VIP. They go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable, you have everything you need, and happy to answer any questions and make excellent recommendations.

There was only 1 coffee cup in our room. Also it would be a nice amenity to have a coffee/tea "bar" in the lobby instead of guests having to buy such in the shop.

Only complaint is that when I received the bill, there were many "extra" charges such as parking (very expensive for a city this size), amenity fee, credit card fee, and taxes adding about $70/night.

The rooms are beautiful and generous in size, especially the shower. The location is both close to campus and to Gay street. The Drawing room staff were exceptionally friendly when we stopped for a cocktail.

This room was an upgrade from the rooms I usually get and it outdid my expectations. I raved about the rooms before, but somehow they outdid it with the 2 king bedroom with the city view. Great place and will keep on visiting in the future.

The establishment was clean, and the rooms were very large and spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and if I’m ever back in the area, I would absolutely stay there again.

Beautiful hotel. Rooms are clean a little dated compared to the rest of establishment. Restaurant is a hidden gem to get away from the marriot restaurant on site. Fantastic bourbon selection.

The AC in room only got the bathroom and entry way cold we had it set on 65 and could not feel the AC in the bed. The hot water in shower was hard to control and could not get it hot

We wanted something luxurious to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and The Tennessean did not disappoint! We liked the gorgeous rooms, and the bathroom felt like a spa. The car/golf cart service included in the stay was a huge plus, so we didn't have to pay for Uber or transportation for the ride to and from our dinner choice.

Excellent visit. We stayed at The Tennessean for convenience to the University of Tennessee tour we had scheduled. We appreciated the local recommendations for what to see and where to eat. The shuttle around town was a bonus so we didn't have to drive. Loved the style of the hotel, and lattes at the coffee shop downstairs were delicious! I was legit sad to leave.

The only negative things I can think of is room service wasn’t available at 9:30 not 10a and our body soap in shower didn’t pump but other than it was amazing!! Love the valet and black car service!!!!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff and service were terrific! Only one complaint: the food. Not to judge based on one experience, we ordered food on two separate occasions and neither lived up to expectations of finer dining we had hoped for considering the price we paid. It would have been better to have taken the free shuttle service Tennessean offered and supported another restaurant in the area.

The rooms were large, bathrooms were fantastic. The location is unbelievable, walking distance to all of downtown and the university. We had one small issue the staff jumped in and were super accommodating and handled the issue with dignity and class. We will be back.

I knew about the valet parking (and charge for that) but additional charges --amenity or destination fees ($20+) on the bill were a surprise. I read recently that NY just passed where these charges must now be disclosed when a room is booked. (I think other states should follow)

Love this place! We stay on our stop from Texas to Virginia every year to see family. We travel w/small dogs and this place makes it very comfortable for us and our dogs. Plus its just a beautiful hotel. The decor is amazing. All the art…etc. Its why we will continue to stay here. Hopefully one day we can stay longer cuz we would!

Room could have been cleaner, hair all over the bathroom. Room service breakfast was truly awful, timely, but awful. Location was great. Valet is less than desirable being attached to another hotel. The Tavern and coffee shop were severely understaffed for so many large groups/events happening. Run the shower for at least 10min before expecting any hot water.

There were crumbs on the floor when we checked into our room, shower water was cold and overall hotel has gotten run down in the past few years. We used to love this property but it’s not what it used to be.

My experience here was very mixed. Overall, the stay was really nice and we enjoyed our time. The things that went well were the room was spacious and comfortable and the front desk staff were welcoming and friendly! The not so great things were the lack of help with luggage by the valet staff both arriving and departing the hotel, nonworking items (the reading lamp), and the insufficient cleanliness of the room (there was trash and dust in various places). For the cost of the room, I expected more

There was more things in the room that didn’t work properly then ones that worked as it was supposed to. The internet was out my entire stay. Come to find out it had been out days before I arrived to the property. No notification or information on it until I called management later that night. That’s when I finally learned of the internet being out days before my stay. Food was overpriced. Once I tried the food I realized I’d get better quality food from Burger King. This was supposed to be a relaxing stay but turned into nothing of the sort. I will not recommend or stay at any location with this name ever again. I also didn’t get the room I already paid for when I arrived. They set the check in time but don’t expect your room to be ready once you arrive at that time. They will just pass it along as if nothing is different. I hope everyone has a better experience with this property. But I wouldn’t risk it just stay somewhere that actually has a nice hotel that knows how to fulfill the expectations of guests that pay them to stay.

Stayed in a Premiere King room — it was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The bathroom was spacious and room was plenty size! The room service was both quick and delicious. Every staff member I interacted with, from valet to front desk, was kind and professional. Overall, a clean, comfortable, and welcoming experience. Highly recommend!

The front staff was very friendly and the hotel is nice, the room was comfortable. My only complaint about the room is, put a normal coffee maker in there. Not everyone wants foamy Expresso. I just wanted a cup of hot black coffee. Oh, and I had to have someone bring caffeinated Expresso cups because they only had decaffeinated in the room.

The front desk staff was unwelcoming and unfriendly. Check in experience was horrible. With kids at UT I have stayed at many area hotels and do yourself a favor and stay at The Graduate or Embassy Suites where you are welcomed and valued.

Very nice hotel. From the minute we drove on to the property & were greeted by a very friendly valet to the helpful young lady at the front desk that checked us in, our stay was great. Clean, spacious room with everything we needed (except for a men’s size robe, that I was really looking forward to using). This was our first visit to Knoxville & I’m positive that I selected the best hotel.

For the amount we paid to stay here and how fancy they would like to make you think it is it’s not what it’s hyped up to be. HVAC system was horrible, if you’re going to have rooms with windows on each side with the sun glaring in you need to have a suitable hvac system to balance that. The beds made us itchy and we were up all night tossing an turning because of it. We asked them to switch the sheets the second day but we noticed there was a ton of dust and debris between the headboard system around the bed. Then they nickel and dime you for everything. Why would I be paying a $19 internet fee with my room when they don’t even password protect the internet? Parking was $40 a night which seemed worth it but then they tack on fees to that as well. We stayed there two nights and it ended up being $137 total for parking. So total we paid about $303 a night with internet and parking and fees. What I will say is the cleaning staff and the valets were extremely friendly and nice.

Great stay right in the middle of everything.

Overall, the hotel was very nice. Our room was spacious and very clean. The air conditioning was not working properly in the room which led to a tumultuous night’s sleep. The elevators and hallways needed vacuuming, even early in the morning, but the room was great and that’s what really matters most. Ed, at the front desk, was absolutely the best part of our stay. He greeted us promptly, offered prosecco and was very thorough with his introduction of the hotel. Later that evening after returning from an event, Ed greeted us by name, offered us water and asked if we needed anything else. We were extremely impressed and were beyond impressed with his professionalism and courtesy. It’s a rarity these days!

Hotel was clean & modern and we were given a room with a great view. Breakfast selection and coffee was fantastic.

The only observation for improvement was that the hallway carpet leading from our room on the 2nd floor (room 4) to the restaurant is very worn and needs to be replaced.

Room for improvement: There is a strong deodorizer smell that was a turnoff. I’m not sure if it has old carpet, but it looks and feels like it needs to be updated.

I grew up in Knoxville and I try to get back as often as I can. The Tennesseean is my hotel of choice when I come home, the staff is always polite and helpful, my room is spacious and welcoming and the Tennesseean has a very efficient valet set up, I like that!

FLAWLESS. This is an exquisite property. My husband and I stayed here years ago, and I made a stop here traveling cross-country (despite Nashville being a better stop for the night) because of this hotel. The Tennessean is the primer for how a hotel should look, run, and be maintained. There is thought in every detail, every nook of this property - fresh flowers, thoughtful amenities, impeccable staff. The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautiful. My only regret is being too tired to order room service, which I'm sure would have also been fantastic. I will always land here when in Tennessee - it's the gold standard.

A great stay for our college visit to UT. Room was amazing.

Tv remote wasn’t programmed for the tv. The tv had limited working channels, most channels were showing green lines across whole screen so you could see anything. Door going into the bathroom was extremely hard to open and close, something maybe with the track the bars door is on. Pool hours are only 10am-10pm making it so you really can’t use it if you check in late and check out on time. Also, no signage with hours on second floor door leading to pool.

Room carpet looked dated (by about 10-15 years), room phone did not work, and otherwise is was the location and handling of an unsafe dispute occurring next to our room that was a little shocking given the claims of being a luxury property. But our unfortunate experience started at a little after midnight when a neighboring room had two males threatening one another. Starting with muffled argument and escalating to threats of “cutting you” it was clear it would not subside by around 12:45AM. It sounded like the sort of argument where gunfire could present. Which is undoubtedly a much larger security issue in a hotel… So, I attempted to call the front desk to report a need for security but my in room phone would not connect. I used my cell phone to call the front desk and let them know. Security came up within 5-10 minutes and you could hear the exchange at the door. It was jovial and clearly a non confrontational. Around 3PM threats great loud again and I called again this time resulting in someone’s removal (I think). Why I had to monitor the situation is absurd. What’s worse is no one from the hotel acknowledge it at checkout or me. I was given a credited “resort fee” which is lowly at best. There has been no followup since

I think I was expecting more from the room, just didnt seem welcoming and was plain, also you should know there is no microwave. The staff was outstanding and the bar was great. Location was great. Also its 40 a day to park.

All staff was very hospitable! Clean sheets. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Room could use a little dusting and possibly mopping on the bathroom corners but we could not complain about this stay. Well-equipped gym, which we used and enjoyed. Their restaurant, called “the drawing room”, offers a nice menu - try the carpaccio and house cocktails - they’re delicious! Coffee shop at Lobby level. This hotel connects to the Westin so there are plenty of lounging places if you need a rest. Either hot tea or a chilled infused fruit-water awaits you in the lobby as you depart from or arrive to your room each night. Complimentary shuttle service offered by the Tennessean (first come, first serve) within a couple miles of the hotel, which was incredibly helpful! Old City and Downtown were walkable, which included many restaurants and little shops…and the farmers market! Highly recommend this hotel and their team! They are a 4 diamond hotel and we’re just awarded a Michelin star!

All was great, but the hot water temperature on the third floor was just warm. No hot water for 10 minutes in the sink.

We had gotten married on that Saturday and just wanted a place to get away for a few days because we aren’t doing a honeymoon till later! The staff was so nice, the room was spotless, the drinks were soo good! I would stay here again!

Hotel was nice overall. Our room was spacious and clean. Valet service was slow upon arrival, but friendly service once they appeared. Not necessarily the hotel’s fault, but loud talking neighbors at night did detract from stay.

This hotel is wonderful. Staff was amazing and went out of their way to help us with restaurants, beverages and transportation to the restaurant via golf cart on a rainy evening. I would give it six stars. Only downside was pillows are a bit poofy so if you like a flatter pillow then bring your own.

This hotel is well maintained, pretty, smells great on the floors, has rooms with 2 king beds and plenty of room, has a nice reception area to relax with a fireplace, French pastries and great coffee.
