Breakfast at Greenfinch (?) was good and filling. The wait staff were attentive. The day we were at the pool, the cafe was closed. If you go to the pool, go early. If you wait, there may not be any chairs. We had to rent a cabana. Definitely not worth the money. In the first cabana, the TV didn’t work. In the second cabana, the fan didn’t work. We were told maintenance would come to fix it. That didn’t happen. Additionally, the pool waitstaff did their best to keep. But, we only saw the waitstaff once during our 5 hour pool time. The rooms were large, as were our the bathrooms. Good water pressure in the shower. The beds were comfortable. The valet staff were amazing. Prompt, efficient and professional. Out of all the service we had here, definitely the best. I saw many people (leadership staff walking around in suits). They never spoke, nor asked how the stay was. Additionally, after all of the issues with the Caban, no one apologized nor asked if we would like a discount. Very disappointing. Compared to other resorts (we travel frequently), I would not return. The reason I gave it a 4 is for the valet staff and grounds. Otherwise, I would have given it a 3. Also, if you aren’t from California, the weather in the morning and evening was cool.

Beautiful property and amazing staff! We had such a wonderful stay at Estancia la Jolla. The hotel was such a nice, peaceful, escape! We loved everything- the plants, gardens, and whimsical touches. We had our wedding at Estancia and it was the BEST day! Our hotel guests loved their stay and the entire experience! They commented on how the good the food and service were. However, what really set this place apart from other hotels is the staff! Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and professional. They went above and beyond! The rooms were clean and stocked with water.

Really quaint hotel better than expected I'm happy that it wasn't in the busy part of La Jolla we were in our own little bubble and had some nice walks down by the beach

It was a great experience. I would recommend this resort as a vacation destination.

We arrived a bit early for the 4PM check in and were unable to check in. We tried to hang out by the pool but the DJ was raucous and there was no space, which felt surprising given the occupancy of the rest of the weekend. It felt like an oversold day party. Once the 4PM check in hit there was a huge line to check in. The system felt a bit chaotic but the staff was efficient. The rest of our stay was lovely.

When I checked in, I was told that there were various discount packages for food consumed at the hotel. The pricing of those packages was anything but transparent. The receptionist offered to email me a sample menu, which she thought might shed some light on the discounts being offered. I never received it. The hotel is labyrinthine. The designer or designers should have never been allowed to practice architecture. The carpets inside my room and on the hallways were dirty. As a saying in German has it, I stayed at the Estancia La Jolla three times: the first time, the last time, and one time too many.

Unfortunately, this meant we did not receive the room type we had paid for, and the response from staff was that we just had to deal with it essentially. Additionally, we encountered billing issues, including being charged twice for parking and several other unexpected room charges, which we had to request be corrected. While the spa massages were excellent, the overall experience was disappointing, especially for a hotel that positions itself as a higher-end property.

Hotel was lovely and well located . The “ pool view” room was not pool view unless you craned your neck from the little balcony but the room was a nice size . A very limited room service menu for dinner despite the extensive poolside menu for lunch which was odd . All in all a very nice place to stay.

This resort is amazing! The facilities such as the restaurants, bars, pool, lounge areas are the best! Very clean and the rooms were large and comfy and quiet. You can hike down to the beach and there is a fun cliffhanger bar overlooking the ocean just a 10 min walk away. It was fun to walk through campus and the town is a short drive away. Highly recommend!

Our 2nd stay here and it was just as amazing, especially while having a baby. No play places but plenty of walking areas and great restaurants, inside and outside. Not to mention they serve amazing coffee until 9pm!!!

This was a spa day and staycation for us. We try to visit different areas in our city and this location is amazing. Our room was impressive with a balcony view of the garden and a little breakfast nook. Shower was great and the products available were of great quality and smelled good too. We sampled food from one of the restaurants on the property and there was a nice variety of choices as well as some great vegetarian options. The pool was well maintained and heated to a perfect temperature and there is a nice outdoor bar area as well. The hot tub was insanely hot. We also tried the spa, which is pricey but maybe worth it. I had a facial and will see how I look tomorrow. The spa uses high quality products and the atmosphere is really comforting and friendly with lots of opportunities to drop off your stress and anxiety. All of the staff we encountered were perfection. Professionals with lots of personality and great customer service. We have been all over the city! This property is definitely one we will revisit.

From the moment you walk in that ambience is so chill and relax. Have amazing views you can see the sun setting. I had a cute little patio outside of my room overall will recommend this place and definitely will be going back.

Staff location restaurant. We’ve been a few times and it’s near family in La jolla so it’s a no brainer.

Our room seemed to be dark, stuffy and an uncomfortable distance away from the property's single elevator. As we parked our own car, we also had to haul our luggage up and down two flights of stairs. I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it, especially at the nightly rates we were offered. The staff was friendly and kind.

The property is beautiful. The staff are welcoming. The overall feel is warm. The gym has enough good equipment to get a good workout. It is clean and options for strength as well as cardio are there. Yoga is offered three times a week. The pool and hot-tub are beautiful with plenty of room in shade or sun.They also have areas with fire pits at the pool and right outside of the lobby. Really nice . Did not do it but noticed the schedule. Restaurants are great. Food is delicious. Cafe for take and go has great options as well as an espresso bar. There is also a bar that offers N/A healthy cocktails. Really a nice niche to go a sit. There are alcoholic cocktails as well. The main bar is another option which is staffed with friendly bartenders. You are greeted with helpful valet and check in staff. I love this place. I have stayed in multiple other hotels and VRBO’s. Nothing compares if you want comfort and convenience to UCSD, area restaurants, the beach and LaJolla. Love it!

We will be revisiting. The rooms are beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, and the staff was really helpful and friendly.

We just returned from this very lovely property. The plantings are gorgeous and the public spaces have plenty of comfortable seating spaces to relax. We especially enjoyed the evening in the lobby bar listening to a guitarist play gently in the background. The beds and rooms were comfortable. The housekeepers can be heard talking through the doors early in the morning. I shushed them! And I would not recommmend the very expensive, mediocre restaurant for dinner. Too many great and far less expensive choices around town. I do thank the front desk staff who listened to my issues and reported it to management. The front desk staff were all wonderful. The woman in the cafe was a little frosty. No idea why. But we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this lovely little gem to anyone.

Best part of this hotel- the pool. The menu is great and the staff at the pool is super friendly. We booked a veranda king room and didn’t like the location of the room; the girl at the front desk was very reluctant to change our room and didn’t offer any sympathy. We notified the hotel it was our anniversary prior to checking in, but did not receive any special welcome at all during our stay. Property is clean and very pretty. Great dining options. Expensive self park, it’s 45 a day. 55 for valet. Wish the front desk staff was a little nicer, but they just didn’t care.

Better to check your rooms before checking in your guests. Overall the property is lovely but the inconvenience didn’t make it pleasant.

Loved the mocktail bar! Staff were friendly. Dining options are open to the public without room reservations. Unable to get to the free walk tour and yoga classes but love that these are offered.

The hotel has a lovely environment with beautiful gardens and a relaxing holiday atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience with housekeeping was disappointing. Our room was not cleaned on the second night, and after we informed the hotel, the manager apologized, assured us our room would be prioritized for cleaning, and kindly gave us a $100 credit. However, that evening we found the bed was not properly made—one bedsheet was missing, and we had to wait 15 minutes for staff to bring one. Since it was already late, we didn’t wait for them to change the duvet, which also had a black spot. While we really appreciated the surroundings and atmosphere, the housekeeping issues left us disappointed, and we may consider other options in the future.

I came to the hotel about 2:30, and I knew that the check in time is 4PM. The staff sounded like I can get a room earlier than the check in time, so I stayed at the lawn area, which was nice. When I checked the status of the room a few times since then, they kept telling me it's gonna be ready soon, but I did not get the keys until after 4 PM. Had they told me the real situation, I would have gone out for some sightseeing. I just wasted my time.

The room was not what I made reservation for I paid for room with balcony but due to fully occupied they didn’t give same room I paid for .

Love this hotel from previous visits. So, went for one night to enjoy some time by the pool. The pool was overly crowded with guests saving loungers ahead of time for family not at the pool. As a result, we were not able to enjoy anytime by the pool after waiting 3 hours for 2 lounge chairs to become available. Really disappointing. Other hotels have figured out how to manage this “saving” loungers challenge. Not sure why they haven’t.

Amazing resort. We only booked it from the room photos, but once we got there we were amazed by the entire grounds/space that we had no idea about. Great restaurants, bars and they even offer free morning yoga and nightly movies on the lawn.

The Estancia La Jolla is beautiful, the room is very clean, the staff were very friendly and I loved the garden. But in the first day they forgot to clean our room. When I complained, they promptly resolved the issue and the room was cleaned. I also thought it was bad because each bed only had two pillows. So these things took some of the shine off the accommodation.

Property is beautiful to look at, but I’d steer clear if comfort is a priority. The beds left me and my husband with hip and back pain, was extremely hard to fall asleep due to how uncomfortable the bed was. We stayed here for 2 nights and got the worst sleep ever. Also the walls are paper thin, you can even hear the flip flops of people just walking past your door, let alone entire conversations of people anywhere in the hallway. We were really disappointed and didn’t feel like the cost matched what we got. You’re really just paying to look at a nice property.

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and we didn’t wanna leave! They have everything here! Cade, breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. and it is so fancy and beautiful, you don’t even wanna leave! We only left to enjoy the beach but we dinned here since out there was filled with people and insane wait times, we loved this place so much! Definitely will return! Staff is amazing! The rooms are beautiful, you definitely feel relaxed and taken care of !

Amazing experience, from the moment you pull on to the property.

First, Grant greeted us at the valet. He was so helpful, he made check-in easy. Our room was great. We had a view of the garden with a balcony on the second floor. The grounds and amenities are incredible. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly Grant at the valet.

Centraly locator is open very nice lobby bar. The rooms are clean and spacious. There’s hiking trails nearby. It’s a wonderful place love the Spanish style.

Quiet, pet friendly, great service. Food at the Greenfinch Restaurant was very tasty - ate there both mornings. Karina provided us with great service both mornings.

The property of Estancia is truly wonderful and beautifully maintained gardens are magical. People working in the hotel are nice and helpful. The rooms are kind of average and I would expect crispy white linens for bedding, which was not the case. In addition, the breakfast was a total disappointment! We were served black-burned toasts, and 3 days old cooked and cold potatoes. Chia pudding was horrible, also it looked like it was prepared very long ago and inedible. I couldn't believe my eyes how this can pass the QC in the kitchen in this hotel. All together it is a true disappointment that the food is half preprocessed and such a low quality not matching the property elegance and the elevated concept this hotel is advertised.

The property seems tired. We were in a room at the end of the hall so every time guests entered there was a loud door banging noise. Not very pleasant.

My family and I just stayed here and had an exceptional time. We found our room was spotless, and the twin queen room worked perfectly. My daughters loved the pool and hot tub. The grounds were beautiful, and the service was top-notched. 10/10!

The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained, and the room was nicely appointed. The staff was gracious and kind. Food was just okay in the lobby bar and breakfast restaurant. We booked a couples massage a month in advance that was supposed to include the soaking tub, but didn't. We live in San Diego, so this was a stay-cation for us. I would opt to stay at one of the many other luxury resorts in town next time.

While Estancia was absolutely beautiful and welcoming, the staff was amazing..from the valet to the front desk, the grounds folks, housekeeping the spa. There was not one interaction that was not positive and friendly. Will definitely stay here again

This is a very cute boutique hotel and the grounds were beautiful. The rooms were nicely designed and up to date. I didn’t feel that our room and bathroom were very clean. When we checked-in to the room there was urine on the toilet seat. The pillows were awful, very thin and dense. The door to the bathroom was a barn door style with no lock that kept sliding back open after you close it. The pool restaurant and bar was not open during our stay without given any notice or explanation.

Spa services expensive but worth it—spa staff went above and beyond to make our experience (couples romantic massage) enjoyable and luxurious. Our room was at the end of hallway which made it loud with the door opening and closing at all hours.

Very nice property with nicely redone rooms. A bit too much of a horse theme in halls and rooms but nevertheless nice. The property grounds are quite beautiful. A couple things that were not great: our room was a long walk from lobby which is ok for a walk but our requests for service had us waiting a very long time. Also, the lobby and all public rooms have all outside doors and windows open at all hours making it uncomfortably cold indoors. We spoke to tge front desk multiple times and days and nothing changed.

Took my mom for her birthday, overall wonderful expierence. Service was amazing. Suggestion when multiple weddings are happening would be great if they were kept together. Drunk guests loud in hallways till 2am. Also families with younger children yelling in the early mornings.

This is a wonderful hotel with a beautiful lush property. The staff is exceptional- everyone we met was pleasant and eager to help. There are great dining options right on the property which is an added bonus. Spa services were wonderful but the facility itself could be better appointed.

The landscaping and natural plants are beautiful. Please loose all the fake flowers in the hallway/restaurant.

Always happy to stay here. We got an upgrade this time. Staff are friendly, the property is so pretty and comfortable, and the recent remodel is just top notch! We love it here, we just don’t look for another hotel when we’re in the area.

At first I received a call that hotel was completely sold out for 4th of July weekend and they didn’t have 2 needs available, but when we arrived, they upgraded us to a suit and it was lovely. Very relaxing and their restaurants are great. If you need a weekend getaway, this is a good one. Lovely areas to walk and good food and coffee.

Lots of friendly, competent staff. A little pricey. Shocked when I got bill and valet parking was $50 a day. Then I learned that self parking quite a ways away was $45!! We left on a little bit of a sour note.

This is the third time we stay here and we really like it, especially now that the hotel was remodeled. They did a great job at the main lobby and coffee shop. The rooms got a refresh as well, and the service was very good. Definitely will come back.
