Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its convenient location near shopping centers and UCSD. Guests appreciate the clean rooms and friendly staff. However, many guests express dissatisfaction with the high cost of parking and some find the rooms and facilities to be outdated or not up to par with their expectations.

Clean, comfortable bed, good rooms and location No breakfast, daily water included.

The location is great The AC was old and super noisy. Couldn’t sleep during the night when it was on. The AC needs an upgrade.
- 5/5
Short stay but the room was great, clean. Everything worked great. Check in and check out was smooth. Very close to UCSD. Will definitely stay here again.

The bed was super comfortable and so nice to have a choice of pillows! It’s a little ‘tired’ but just right for our stay. They don’t provide guests with bottled water!

Good sized room, nice bathroom, fridge and microwave. The grounds and pool area are nice. View of the parking lot and the back of the mall. Expensive parking $30/day. Not really walkable area. Not close to the beach
- 4/5
Gorgeous property, very well maintained. Kind staff that checked us in The coffee bar cost me 25$ for two small lattes that tasted like burnt beans. Terrible taste, I didn’t even drink it. We were given a room literally one foot from the main entrance. We could hear people coming and going all hours. That wasn’t great.
- 5/5
I love it!!
- 5/5
The property was great. Clean, quiet, and it was very helpful having a connected secured path to neighboring stores where you could have breakfast, coffee, or shop for anything you might need from groceries to clothes with a Nordstrom‘s Rack and a Whole Foods Market.

Overall, I completely enjoyed my stay and the room. It was a short stay and I did not utilize the pool or restaurant. The gated parking lot was a little weird. When checking out, I left my card in the room and then was confused about how to get out. Caused me a bit of a panic since I was on my way to the airport.
- 4/5
The bar is good but the food isn’t so good. The dinner was stale, possibly the humus help too long so was quite gassy. The burger was ok but a little overdone. The breakfast was a pricey for what it is. The a-la-carte at the deli was simply too pricey; a croissant for $10 and a coffee $8! The breakfast buffet options were a bit weird. One was a lite breakfast that didn’t say what it was and the other was a club breakfast which was at the other end of the property which wasn’t clear either as to what you get for it.. apart from the description that says you can have some rarly evening drinks too as part of it( not ideal if you’re wanting to see the city and be out at that time. It would have been better that they just had the option of an included buffet breakfast in the room rate and be done with it! However, there are ample breakfast options just a 5 min walk from the hotel in the adjacent retail park. The car parking too was a bit dear at $30 per night.

Close the freeway but did not hear it at all. Lovely area because it was just a few minutes away from the beach.

We had a lovely day. The staff was super friendly. The pool and Jacuzzi areas were very well kept.! love all the tropical areas throughout the property.

Smelly carpet in the hallway Room was clear and roomy
- 5/5
We traveled with two teens and got a suite. Nice and roomy, quiet and dark in the mornings which we all appreciated. We loved our stay.
- 4/5
Happy with everything except the room A/C / heater — never been a big fan of under-window console units. They tend to be to extreme when on. I realize that is something you probably can’t do anything about.
- 5/5
The staff are helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and quiet. There’s a cool shopping center next door, with a gate that you can walk through and renter the property with your room key. We already have reservations booked for another trip.
- 5/5
Stayed for one night. Had everything in the room that we needed. Ate breakfast at the hotel and food was delicious and plentiful. Grounds are beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, great location
- 5/5
Gym was nice, pool was nice, didn't get to try the breakfast or bar, but I'd go back to this hotel for sure.
- 5/5
The location was perfect for where I needed to be. The staff member that helped me check in was friendly and helpful. The middle of hotel area is beautiful.
- 5/5
Awesome
- 5/5
Great hotel for quiet nights and very comfortable rooms. I travel a lot for lectures and the setting of this hotel is perfect for preparing, especially after long flights. I grew up in La Jolla and it’s always nice to come home.
- 2/5
Parking was awful! You pay $30 a day to park and its very liimted. Very little hadicap parking as well. Booked here online , paid for a garden lower level, remarked handicap and service dog. Got 2nd level. Food was SO average, skip the Thai Tacos! Club sandwich good. The best part was location and beautiful gardens and pool and hot tub. would not stay again.
- 5/5

Requested late check out as I was there as a UCSD patient with 3 appointments in one day. Was told I’d receive a discount for being a patient & that’s why we chose the convenience & location here, didn’t receive any discount & had to ask about late check out 3 times to receive only 30 minutes longer.
- 5/5
It’s absolutely very clean, staff is very nice and helpful. The property is not new but nicely maintained.
- 5/5
An excellent place to stay in the La Jolla area...beautiful grounds, like a jungle oasis in the middle of the town. Great pool & hot tub, gym, very nice rooms and excellent little lobby bar/dining room. Walking distance to shopping next door so you can park the car and forget it. Will definitely stay again, a very pleasant surprise.
- 5/5
Aside from the construction that’s going on that has nothing to do with the hotels. It was a wonderful stay and a beautiful resort tropical setting enjoyed every bit of it.
- 5/5
Good experience
- 5/5
Room accommodations were very good. The room was exceptional clean with a nice large sofa and work table for my computer. Nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room, plus I always enjoy making coffee in the morning with the appliance provided. I stayed only one night but used the fitness center, and took an early morning walk around the gardens before I checked out. Nice price for a hotel with such a pleasant setting.
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
Everything was great!
- 5/5
The pool and spa were amazing. The rooms were refreshed. Lighting and bar fridge very convenient. Even plenty of outlets for electronic charging. Someone had some great insight here. Close to shops and freeway. Great location with easy access to San Diego if needed. I can’t wait to go back. Even front desk manager had ties to Australia. You can’t ask for more :)
- 3/5
Our room wasn’t cleaned during our 4 day stay except once. The housekeeper apparently cleans in the late afternoon to evening, once we returned from all of the days activities already and are ready to relax in our room—that was when she’d come by to clean which was very inconvenient. We would just ask for a restock of towels and toilet paper which was skimped on as well. We had 4 people in our room and we would only get 3 bath towels. Aside from cleaning services, the pool and garden area are beautiful and well kept. Good location to restaurants and stores.
- 1/5
With exception of your great house cleaning whom cash tipped. Your front desk was awful. I believe she was from Australia or something. I tried to stay by stay I asked for extra towels. She was super weird and rude.
- 3/5
The room was clean and it was up-to-date. It’s close to UCSD and close to food options. But every morning between 5:30 AM and 6 AM, there was very loud beeping of trucks backing up, then it sounded like trucks emptying dumpsters. We faced the parking lot so if you have one of the rooms that faces the pool it may not be as much of an issue.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our 2 night stay near the beach. Easy check in. Property was clean, quiet enough (we were by pool), and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Area felt safe enough. It was nice to have the restaurants and shopping center nearby. We had Snooze for breakfast both mornings. A quiet bar also onsite was pleasant, friendly bartender (would have been nice to have stayed open until atleast 11). I believe we would stay here again if in the area.
- 4/5
Breakfast options were really few. The rooms are usually far from Garden.
- 4/5
Newly reniovayed—bery attractive—great bef!!

Overall, great location and great hotel
- 5/5
Convenient & Quiet
- 4/5
Pool and garden provided such a peaceful setting to rest and recharge.
- 5/5
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the beds are very comfortable. Staff is so friendly and helpful - they even let me borrow a mouse since mine wasn't working. While it's disappointing they recently closed the karaoke bar, they still have the beautiful hot tub and it's a great way to unwind after a long day of work. With the shopping center right next door, you can walk easily to CVS or Whole Foods, grab a bite to eat from several restaraunts, shop at Nordstrom Rack or Marshalls, etc. This hotel is so nice and convenient. It has everything you need. I've been staying there for over a decade whenever I travel to SD for work and I will always stay here!
- 5/5
room was great and hotel is close to freeway and places in San Diego and La Jolla
- 5/5
Great hotel! Would definitely stay again Very clean and comfortable
- 5/5
Very beautiful place I see you soon 😉
- 5/5
Excellent service, nice facility. The amenities are slightly aged but everything is clean. One of the best managed hotels that I stayed at.
- 1/5
The room and hallways were musty smelling. The bed was hard, microwave didn’t work. We were going to order from the restaurant and noticed soft drinks were $12.00. There was a $30.00 charge for parking. Will not be staying here again and wouldn’t recommend it.
- 4/5
The room was clean but quite a distance from the lobby. To be a Sheraton, I thought it was going to be a lot bigger hotel. My wife enjoyed the pool and hot tub and we had a great steak in the in-house restaurant.
- 5/5
Renewed rooms, great shower and very comfortable bed!
- 4/5
Clean room, fast check in
- 5/5
Staff very friendly. Clean comfortable rooms and great pool area!

Everything went Smooth..
- 5/5
Friendly and helpful staff
- 4/5
Beautiful, calm property, very close to UCSD and lots of things to do.
- 5/5
My room with a view of the pool was very nice & clean. Even though I do my own touch ups here and there, it was very inviting and comfortable. All the amenities are there at your disposal. The mini frig, micro-wave to the umbrella if needed, plus quick room service. The grounds are nicely manicured with accessible parking near by. The staff all of them very courteous. As you can tell I loved it and will do it again in a heartbeat!
- 3/5
had some extremely loud neighbors who woke everyone in my room up in middle of night not sure if i would stay again
- 2/5
The staff was fine but the maintenance of the room didn’t meet basic hotel standards. When we first booked the room, the description online was off so we had to switch when we arrived. When we switched, we noticed there was hair in the bathroom tub, didn’t think much of it. Once it was time to shower, the water would not drain. My partner got to shower but since we were on a time crunch I had to skip it and go about my day without one. The worst part was the ants I saw crawling on the bathroom floor.
- 5/5
Kind and welcoming staff. Clean rooms and uber comfy beds! Restaurant has great food! :)
- 4/5
We have stayed many times. Building B is not the favorite. To much noise from dumpster pickups every morning at 5am. Also, add a full length mirror to the rooms.
- 5/5
Very nice
- 3/5
Shower was great, underwhelming, tv was old and room in general felt old and dusty.
- 5/5
The grounds are beautiful
- 5/5

was not aware of pet fee. card key did not work.
- 5/5
Very well maintained, updated, and clean rooms. Best service from staff. 5 stars all around!
- 5/5
Super easy check in and room was nice and updated.
- 3/5
Rooms were nice, however I didn't like that the hotel charged $30 for parking
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Clean room excellent service at check in and out
- 4/5
Lots of good things, staff helpful. I would say when someone is staying (10 days in my case) they should not be put into a room next to the freeway. The road noise was unpleasant and woke me a number of times.
- 4/5
Spotless room. Friendly front desk
- 4/5
Nice staff
- 4/5
Friendly and helpful staff at check in. Would have been nice if the refrigerator was working/plugged in. It was in a built in cabinet and at age 75 I couldn't pull it out to plug it in. I suppose I should have called the front desk but I was gone from the room from 6:30 am - 9 pm. When a guest is coming the refrigerator should be useable.
- 5/5
Facilities are great, staff was nice, pool was fantastic, room was great.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff
- 4/5
Yes
- 3/5
The hotel was nice. The room was not. I was down there for work and so my time was very limited. I dropped off my bags and noticed an odor but thought it might go away as it appeared that room might not had people in it for a while. When I returned that night, the smell was like a rotten olive jar, vinegar and brine and something else. Then I went to open the slider to air it out and all I heard was the freeway and a train. Then I went to take a shower and the toggle between the shower head and hand held made a horrible noise and so I couldn't use the hand held spigget. The towels were musty and the bed mattress had a HUGE dent in the the side that was in front of the TV, so I slept horizontally across the bed. I would have moved rooms if I had the time but had to leave the next morning so I told management. They said they are going to take care of things but we will see
- 5/5
Always happy to stay here. Very cozy! One of my favorite hotels in SD.
- 5/5
Pool and grounds are amazing
- 3/5
Pool was nice. Staff were not.
- 5/5
The only small suggestion: I did think the carpet in the room looked like it could use replacing. It was not dirty at all, but it was older. I would stay in this hotel again for sure. It’s convenient, clean, safe, hospitable and reasonably priced.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious room; friendly staff; lovely pool, hot tub and garden.
- 3/5
large nice room. Bad maintenance. toilet worked some times. telephone did not work
- 4/5
For some reason the staff all where black masks. Made us feed uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Staff were very respectful and awesome. Room was very clean and breakfast was amazing.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff were friendly. Had great time at this hotel.
- 4/5
Clean rooms
- 5/5
Great location. Quiet and clean. The heated pool was fantastic.
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel has a warm and cozy décor, a convenient self-service business center, and polite, friendly staff. The prices are very reasonable and breakfast is included. I mentioned in my email that I would be traveling with an elderly family member, and they thoughtfully arranged a room suitable for seniors. That was such a kind and considerate gesture — truly appreciated!
- 5/5
Front desk staff was great! I wish I could remember her name. We got there at 9:45am and just stopped by to let them know we were around when a room was ready. No expectations of getting a room that early. The woman at the front desk was very nice and said “let me see what I can do for you” and got us a room early! Really unexpected and very appreciated
- 5/5
Close to UCSD. Clean. Friendly staff. Lush grounds with pool.
- 2/5
Room was ok, it was really noisy there was a dog in the next room that would bark all day and night and a lot of loud drunk people in the hallways in the evening. The outdoor area is much smaller than advertised, honestly got catfished by the photos of this hotel.
- 5/5
Very nice pool and towel service.
- 4/5
The property is nice and clean but some nights can be noisy because of next door delivery.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay!
- 5/5
Very clean, front desk staff was top notch. Pleasantly surprised!
- 4/5
No shopping
- 3/5
Everything was great except the A/C was so 9old and loud we couldn’t sleep with it on.
- 5/5
Loved to landscaping, pool area, hot tub, and lounges on the patio. Had a good gym and water available. Was right across a strip mall with Whole Foods & good restaurants. Location is excellent!!
- 5/5
Perfect as usual
- 3/5
Our complaint : for the price , the hotel offered no complimentary anything ( except 2 bottles of water , big deal !! ) Paid parking was ridiculous at $30 a night . Won’t recommend.
- 5/5
This property has become a go-to for us thanks to its proximity to UCSD. It's convenient to have shopping, restaurants, and transportation nearby. Philz coffee shop in the adjacent shopping center is a bonus!
- 5/5
The rooms look very modern compared to outside. Great location for parents visiting UCSD.
- 4/5
Nice place to stay especially if you have business with UCSD Thornton Hospital. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They have a restaurant, breakfast, lunch and dinner but what they offer is limited.
- 3/5
The hospitality and front desk staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The A/C is too loud to get a relaxing sleep. Close to eateries, grocery stores, UTC mall, and UC San Diego.
- 5/5
Love this retreat.
- 4/5
Just really was in and out of the room. Though the hotel is old, I appreciate the refresh look. There was a coffee machine but no coffee kcups to use. I also wanted to leave a tip in room but front desk has no cash.
- 3/5
Great walkable area.
- 5/5
Everything was great except for the Cardboard boxes in the lobby beside the front desk were an eyesore
- 5/5
Great stay! Comfy beds.
- 5/5
The staff was helpful
- 4/5
Ice machine needs to be updated. Good environment, with trees and plants.
- 5/5
We always stay at this hotel and have a fantastic time visit our son at UC San Diego.. However, at this time, the air conditioner was condensing and created super high humidity in the room. I let the staff know, so hopefully they fix it. The location is fantastic. Very nearby is Philz‘s coffee or breakfast.
- 5/5

The stay was
- 5/5
Lovely property
- 4/5
The dislikes were the pillows. They really need updated. I actually slept terrible for that very reason. I also saw a homeless guy with his bike lurking around which I didn’t enjoy.
- 5/5
Great spot! Will stay here again.
- 5/5
The pool and gym are nice added amenities.
- 2/5
The doors to the parking lot were open the whole time allowing others to park and leaving no parking spaces open to the guests. We were then charged $30 a night for parking that we were not able to utilize
- 5/5
The property was beautiful, staff were very welcoming and accommodating, and access to shopping and dining were literally next door - a 2 minute walk.
- 5/5
Check-In was quick and efficient, and Staff are very friendly., Our room had ample spacing with two queen beds for 2 adults and 1 teenager. Amenities included mini fridge, microwave with in room coffee maker. The facility is a short walk to the U.C. San Diego University campus, and shopping.
- 5/5
Did not like paying for parking and breakfast Separately.
- 5/5
Room was very comfy. Was surprised about the lounge. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our free breakfast there before we started our day touring UCSD. Definitely would come here again.
- 5/5

- 3/5
The room was meh
- 5/5
Pool was gorgeous and all the amenities were always well kept and tidy. Super helpful staff all around. Really close to where I was visiting in La Jolla village so plenty of food and shopping options that are walkable.
- 3/5
Just ok but price is not cheap, just normal view they say it have KOI fish I think I a lot when I take my kid to see just about 4 or 5 fish ,
- 3/5
Construction made it very difficult to exit and enter the hotel.
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
My partner and I came here for getaway weekend and the hotel service was amazing. Everything around us from coffee shops, to restaurants, and shopping centers were walkable distances. We loved it here and we will definitely come back again.
- 5/5
Staff was friendly and room was clean.
- 3/5
I don’t like that they charge 30 bucks a night for parking In their parking lot
- 3/5
buyer beware, wifi is not complimentary and requires marriot bonvoy membership.
- 5/5
Everything
- 5/5
I liked the hotel and I’ll more likely stay there again
- 3/5
Conveniently located to areas of our interest and the pool was nice. The room ac locked at 68 was annoying as we like to sleep cooler and the air blowing out of it smelled damp and musty. The room was only cleaned twice during our 4 day and I had to ask the staff in the hallways for new towels.
- 5/5
Clean comfortable and good staff close to shops
- 5/5
Convenient to both UCSD campus and major stores including Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, CVS, Marshall’s, Ralph’s, three big banks, FedEx, etc
- 5/5
Perfect treatment and service.
- 4/5
Had a nice stay here recently! Our room was cozy and clean, though we found the lighting in the room to be oddly bright with no way to adjust it. Staff were friendly and courteous. Location was great for driving down to San Diego and for a quick trip to La Jolla Shores for a beach day. Would definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Food is over priced but you can easily door dash or Uber eats. Walking distance to restaurants
- 5/5
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The rooms were exceptionally clean, the environment was quiet and peaceful, and the surrounding greenery made it feel like a perfect escape. It’s a great place to relax and recharge, whether you’re traveling for business or leisure. I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a calm and refreshing stay.
- 5/5
Quiet and great beds
- 3/5
The bathroom shower was not properly cleaned. The pool was nice, large and pleasantly warm
- 3/5
Staff didnt try to help me with my
- 3/5
Did not like being nickel and dimed to death. One internet free and second charged,. Parking extra and water for each little bottle to make coffee in the room. Prepaid too much for breakfast with only 4 choices allowed and then mandatory twenty percent For service and then tax and there was still a place for a second tip….REALLY ! I also got charged a room tax when all fees were to be included in the Expedia rate….
- 5/5
Property was unique in today’s hotels since this Sheraton has an ambiance of 60’s hotels with it’s central courtyard pool, garden and waterfall.
- 4/5
It’s OK place for vacation
- 5/5
Every staff member was so nice and accommodating…would highly recommend
- 5/5
Staff was extremely friendly!
- 4/5
It felt like I was on a tropical vacation. Loved the friendly staff who let me hang out at the pool while I waited for my room to be ready. My only drawback was that my room was right next to the door leading out of the hotel and starting at about 5:30 in the morning every 30 seconds there was someone slamming the door and leaving the hotel and it was very Very annoying
- 5/5
Ok
- 4/5
Is a great property a little pricey but is in a pretty convenient location. Could use some updating.
- 5/5
Hotel was clean, staff was great, and the location was convenient as we attended a wedding nearby.
- 5/5
The front desk staff was so kind and so helpful.
- 5/5
This is easily located; walkable to shopping and restaurants; near airport and freeways. It is our “go to stay” for visiting family in La Jolla.
- 5/5
Great location. Beds good. Cleaning staff was great. The added feesfor a third adult was not mentioned at check inn. Parking is 30 dollars.
- 5/5
helpful staff
- 5/5
Loved the lush plantings, palms and flowers and koi pond. Pool was nice, too.
- 2/5
The WiFi they provide worked maybe 15 minutes out of the 6 days that my family was there and that wasn’t 15 minutes at once; that’s in totality. They have access to a better WiFi but request you pay $11.99 each day for it. One of the nights the power was out and when asked about a back up generator as this has usually been a standard at the hotels that are contracted with hospitals (they are contracted with UC San Diego) they said they only use a generator for their lobby. As this is extremely concerning when there are patient from the hospital that stay here and are 100% reliant on medical devices that require power. Their tvs are not smart TVs so you can not log into your accounts such as Netflix, Disney Plus, YouTube TV, etc. Our housekeepers were so nice and sweet. The gal working the front desk upon our departure was so kind.
- 3/5
It is a clean hotel but the pool is small and you wait in line for sezlomg

I was life flighted off a boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and then discharged from the hospital and had nowhere to go. I was from Australia and my USA land logistics was trying to get me in the hotel. They were not helpful and treated me like I was some sort of homeless person. I was pregnant and had wet clothes from having come straight from the hospital and straight from the helicopter. I wished I would’ve been greeted with a bit more care and kindness.

Close to the San Diego LDS temple and UC San Diego. Staff were friendly. Rooms have been recently renovated beds are comfortable. No complaints at all, just one suggestion to add an extra mirror in the room.

The room doors were so heavy....we heard all the other room doors slamming most of the night.. especially up to 230 am. When there were drunk people in the hallway being very noisy ..etc . Had to ask for the bedding for the sofa bed.

Satisfactory overall.

The room was clean, however missing bathroom fan ventilation made the room humid as we were getting ready Enjoyed the pool and hot tub, gardens very well maintained.

Very convenient

Enjoyed our stay. Room seemed clean but in bathroom found two wormlike bugs that may have been very small centipedes. I removed and flushed them down the toliet. Next day found two more which were shown to the front desk. They said they’d exterminate and were appropriately concerned. TV has limited options. I was hoping for streaming but only option for kids cost over $20. Didn’t really need it anyway, but will make a difference for future bookings.

The room was very nice and clean. The beds were comfortable and there were a variety of pillows to choose from… soft/squishy like I like and some firmer ones. The hotel is very close to UCSD.

Was not aware I would have to pay $30 to park my car. It took the charge for one room to $255.00 per night instead of $189 as advertised on Hotels.com.

Great location. The staff was very helpful and provided great service

Nothing to like about this place. The rooms were small and dated, couldn’t open the window because it was facing the car park. The bathroom was small and not organized well. There was construction on the outside. A simple bagel cost $12, parking was 30$ per night.

Average hotel in good location. Close to restaurants and shops. Clean. We did not have a good experience staying in a room in Building A, adjacent to parking lot. Trash collection was loud every morning and came to pick up trash at 6am. Too much noise and disrupted sleep.
