Lincolnshire Marriott Resort

This was a trip down memory lane, stayed at this resort when the kids were little, 24 years ago. Today the resort frankly speaking feels neglected. Reception was friendly but the hallways and rooms feel dated (popcorn ceiling, ‘dusty’ color of carpets). No amenities in the room (coffee maker or Keurig absent, no safe, etc.). Many hotels now offer hand showers, not here. While the usual wall mounted dispensers of shampoo, body wash and conditioner were present, at the the sink a small soap bar was offered, not the by now expected soap dispenser. No complimentary water bottle, no refill stations for water throughout the resort. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and attentive and one has to mention that daily towel change took place without asking. The new towels felt a little damp though, perhaps the laundry facility needs an update as well. Mattresses were good, a Marriott characteristic, but the hallway noises really carried through and we had a lot of wedding guest traffic past our room in the wee hours. Lastly, the resort roads have substantial potholes and the parking lots miss lane and parking space markings. Breakfast in the ‘old days’ was quite ‘opulent’, as far as we remember. No longer so, food in the dinner location and à la carte or buffet at breakfast was disappointing, as were the Starbucks options. The resort is in need of some renovation and upgrading/ modernization.

Very clean. Pools really nice, outdoor patio very cozy. Room spacious. Privacy. Beer tower in lobby upon arrival due to people drinking outside alcohol in lobby. Fist fight in lobby due to people drinking in lobby the third night. No microwave in room. Patio closes at 11 on Sunday and can’t sit out sit outside. Only one elevator long walk to room.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but overall the hotel felt dated and underwhelming for a property presenting itself as a resort. The rooms were average, and the building itself feels very old with limited renovations. The pillows were honestly some of the worst I’ve experienced at a hotel - very lumpy and uncomfortable, and definitely in need of replacement. Overall, I’d consider this more of a 3-star hotel experience than a true resort stay.

No complaints - solid location, restaurants were nice, room was cozy and clean.

My husband and I came to celebrate our wedding anniversary & his birthday. Check-in was a breeze & she took care of us because she gave us such a nice view of the pond behind their property! Loved it! We ordered from their on-site restaurant and they got to our room in 15 minutes and even brought our food in the room which was lovely! The pool/hot tub was amazing!! Loved it, will definitely be back!!!

The property was clean, and the Starbucks was convenient.

I like the location,and the accommodation I didn't like that the breakfast wasn't included if you book through a third party. I didn't like thst they didn't give you a pamphlet or someone to tell you everything about the property.. Marriott Resort have alot to offer but they don't talk about it.

Excellent room, dining was very nice (great apply, walnut and beet salad at the restaurant and great beer options), nice and attentive staff. Could grab a water downstairs at any time and the options to find a space to hang with a colleague to chat were ample.

The Wi-Fi did not work which was a huge inconvenience. It was a ton of children there due to events taking place which we didn’t know an wanted to relax a tad bit more an enjoy the jacuzzi but the children were in jacuzzi jumping in an out

The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly. Would have preferred not being "kicked out" at 9am by an eager housekeeper-

Rooms were not that clean i found hair on the bed and pillows and in the bathroom there was hair on the walls and ceiling the shower drain was full of hair and water was flowing over I actually have to clean out the drain myself. The mini fridge barely got your drinks cold and most of the time I watch tv the internet was lagging.

Very nice resort. Clean room and comfortable bed in my king size bedroom. Great food at Wright's Brew & Bistro - friendly staff as well. Excellent catered food for our conference! I would have given 5 stars except for the fact that I called the front desk for a blanket but it never arrived and after calking back a few times, no one answered the phone. Even with that, I wouldn't hesitate to revisit this location.

Hard to believe (and sad) that Marriott can’t afford to repair all those ellipticals & bikes. While our waitress was very knowledgeable about celiac disease and gluten free options, you need more than 2-3 gluten free options at the brew pub restaurant.

Possibly consider a veteran discount or complementary for breakfast, especially on Christmas. We asked and it was an immediate no. Not even an offer to check with a manager, just immediate shut down. Property in the back and parking lot is not well lit. Paid for a king bed but seemed much smaller than our king bed at home. Staff was very friendly. Please also consider at least complementary coffee in the lobby for the mornings vs a $5 machine in the room.

Room was very nice. Disappointed there was a charge for WiFi. We’ve stayed at less expensive hotels & there was no charge. Not happy about that.

Pool was nice. A bit dated but staff kept plenty of towels and water warm and clean Frustrating we were put in a first floor room 2 rooms off the lobby when hotel clearly wasn’t full.

Rooms are out of date, need new toilets Booked room for overnight stay on a Saturday because we had tickets for an 8 PM performance at Lincolnshire Theatre that evening; only to find out that the performance was cancelled 2 weeks ago, without any notification; ( I . E email, sighs, phone call; etc)

Room was small, broken furniture, heat not working correctly, dirty kleenex in garbage, used almost lotion. Charged me 300 instead of 212.00. Will never stay here again!

Quite far from community mall.

The hotel itself was clean and welcoming. We were big fans of the restaurants and bar at the hotel and LOVED the show that we saw at the theatre there. Our room was clean and cozy. We loved our stay and everyone was so nice. We look forward to staying again!

The parking was fine. There's multiple exits to the hotel parking lot which makes it easy to load/unload luggage and to get to the room/ car quicker without exiting the main lobby area.

The staff was very nice and it was a comfortable stay. Our server in the restaurant worked very hard on Sunday evening though they seem to be short staffed. Pool area was great.

Nice getaway from busy city life quant setting

The staff was extremely rude, which makes it hard to consider staying here again. The only reason we stayed was because it was prepaid. The room was not very clean, and the bathroom was unpleasant—especially the bathtub, which felt unsanitary. Overall, the experience was not worth the price. The place felt dingy and unwelcoming.

Great place to stay north of Chicago. We stayed to see Catch me if You Can. We liked the safeness of staying in the suburbs, but Chicago is only a short drive to to the sites there during the daytime.

Our room was disgusting. Stained comforter, hair in sink and dust and dirt all over the phones, floor and furniture. Switched rooms but didn’t get what we originally paid for. Bar staff was incredible, but other staff were rude and unhelpful.

I paid top dollar for this room hoping to get a view of the lake or at least some trees But instead my view was of the child’s play area and reception hall. A wedding was taking place and I understand it’s a time of happiness. But, the music was playing LOUD and the front desk promised the music would be done by 11:00….not!!! The room was so far away from the front desk, it took 15 minutes to get there. In addition there is only one bank of elevators. Also, the toilet ran constantly!! Absolutely nothing nice about the room. And had NO safe in the room?!? As far as food, we ate in the “Bistro”. Don’t remember the full name. Very pricey and by far the worst meal I have ever had and I travel quite a bit. The waiter was great. Breakfast was to be included…in was not!!!

Everything was great but be aware of awful bathroom doors in room. They are barn door style without locks and large gaps that offer very limited privacy...Terrible design and would reconsider staying at this property just because of this.

Only one Ice Machine works in the whole Hotel, The Beds are hard and the Room Refrigerator Didn't work...

The grounds were beautiful and I wish we had more time to explore them. Unfortunately we were a bit confined to our room due to an injury, which was nice and clean but not worth the cost on its own.

The sheets were soiled two dark spots on them sheets very wrinkled not crisp and clean inviting trying to get enough or replacing linens or towels and washcloth were very difficult and staffing and acted troubled when asked! One of the rooms next to ours a man knocked on it and told us to keep it down and turn volume down on tv I assured him the tv was not on and my mother 84 years old was in the bathroom!! The front staff was notified and never followed up! There was no table or place to set our food and and have a light meal in our room! The lighting is awful and no extra place to get ready if someone in bathroom. Very bad experience!!

This is a great place to stay in the area. Great lobby, 2 bars, a restaurant , pool, etc. I like the sprawliing resort feel much more than the typical boring tower hotels. Ill be back.

Great stay! I would recommend water be in rooms also to have an alternative to pork for breakfast. Everything else was perfect. The ice machine was out of ice so we had to search for water.

The staff was very attentive and responsive on every detail. Facilities alothoght good couks be updated to feel more modern and updated.

It was clean, bed was comfortable. We requested more bath towels & response was quick. It was clean, reception desk staff were pleasant & helpful. Starbuck’s coffee shop On site. Will stay here again.

I had my son's rehearsal dinner at the restaurant, with 38 people 15 from China, and they all raved at how good the food was. I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants to impress the other side of the marriage.

Expensive. Not fancy. Asked for room near elevator ahead of trip, but assigned room two hallways down. I’m walking with a cane and it was very painful for my back. Restaurant was good and theater was very good. Starbucks closed at 8:00 pm so couldn’t get decaf after theater.

Pool area very private and lush. Lobby spacious with nice comfortable chairs and couches in close proximity to Starbucks and Bar.Theatre easily accessible through hotel or a short pleasant walk in nice weather.

Just an overnight relaxing stay.

Overall a good stay…it was slightly crowded at property due to hosting 2 weddings. The pool is great but they should have more than ONE server working the pool & restaurant. Wait time for order was very long. It was ridiculous how the server was hustling with no other help. Put a damper on otherwise good time at the pool.

Cons: The hallways are dated and had a nasty smell at times. The bathroom glass cups weren’t clean. The pressure of the shower water was mid. We had to hold the toilet handle down for it to properly flush. You pay for Wi-Fi if you’re not a Bonvoy member. For what I paid for and the pictures I saw on the website, I expected better!

This is the second time I've had a disappointing experience with Marriott.

The staff was great. Friendly and accommodating. The bartender in the lobby was very nice. Enjoyed spending the holiday by the pool and watching the fireworks.

After a disastrous stay somewhere else I booked multiple rooms late in the evening for this hotel. We didnt arrive until after 9 pm. The man working was very friendly and super helpful. We asked for a trash bag to cover the window that was broken at the last place we stayed. He not only got us the bag but also tape and had us park it where it could be watched by security. We didnt get to utilize any of the amenities but the staff was wonderful.

I was charged twice for my stay and had to go through the fiasco of having extra charges removed. There was an issue with plumbing that WAS NOT resolved during our stay. Very disappointed and will never book here again.

Clean and quiet

Overall the stay was fine but I guess my expectations were higher going into it thinking this would be a higher class establishment. At one time I'm sure this place was but it just needs some TLC to bring it back to that type of level.

Pictures of the rooms are false advertisement. I paid $220 per night. The rooms are very small. The restrooms are super small. Furniture was dusty. Looks like an old hotel. Definitely not worth the money.

everything was fine. rooms & bathroom were comfortable. we went to the restaurant in the hotel & were told we needed reservations. There was never any indication that this was necessary. We ate at the bar in the hotel .

The bridal suite that I rented for a large sum each day did not have a properly running AC. No one informed me of this and it was not pleasant.

The accommodations and easy access to Marriott Theatre were awesome. Menu options at Three Embers did nit include any traditional steakhouse options which was disappointing. Some items were creative and delicious but a little too different.

The Starbucks was a great addition

Room was not clean, dirty room. We’ve been told there was a lack of staff. Giving us clean towels and blankets would be the minimum, they didn’t do that.

We went to a musical at the Marriott Lincolnshire and had to drive a bit so we stayed overnight. Such a nice place to stay.

My room stunk of mold, the ceiling looked speckled in mold, the hot tub wasnt hot, the carpet felt so disgusting I couldn’t walk without shoes on in the hotel room

This property is great. We spent the weekend and enjoyed our stay. The outdoor pool, the employees, the room, and the restaurant choices including Starbucks are very nice. We did not leave the hotel since everything is available inside.

The only things that bothered me were that I paid for a room with 2 double or queen size beds and when I checked in and went to my room, there was only one bed in the room. I quickly got that changed. Then I wanted a refrigerator and there was one in the room but it did not work and they had to bring another one and that one was not much better than the one that did not work. The conference that I was there for was perfect from my stand point and I beleive that others felt very good about the meals that were served, etc.

We liked cleanliness. Very comfortable bed. Quite. On the downside we came here for relaxing weekend by the pool but we couldn’t use it. Overcrowded with kids and even though there were plenty of chairs they were all taken. We didn’t get to use the pool. Next time we will go to pool earlier to get a seat. 😀

Went for a weekend get away, staff was extremely nice. Bed was a little uncomfortable (update) but everything was clean! The Starbucks is an added plus . I think having an indoor pool is great , ad well as a beautiful outdoor pool. We will definitely be back!

My room was 4 rooms down from an elevator - Very hard to sleep, people were walking around very loud at close to 2am in the morning.

The breakfast buffet was really nice. There were walking and bike trails. Overall, good stay.

The staff was friendly! The rooms were old and outdated. The bed was worn and should have been replaced. The site itself is beautiful but should be in line for a refresh soon. Despite the beautiful property it wasn’t consistent my Marriott experiences.

It was a very nice stay. Checking in was a breeze. It was so convenient to stay at the Marriott Lincolnshire because we were here to see a musical. It was a great time and great place to stay.

In the meantime, readers beware. Booking your trip through these third parties basically gives hotels immunity - you could die there and all you'll get is Starbucks. I only booked this place because it was a convenient middle ground between my destination and the airport. Never again. I'll happily drive an extra 30mins and stay at the Four Seasons. Marriott just reinforced why that's a good idea. To the reader: save your money or take your business elsewhere.
