The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are often described as outdated, with uncomfortable beds and issues with hot water. There was never a staff on site the whole time I was there the website says check in till 10. They called me at 8:40 telling me that nope I only had till nine to get there after that I’d have to get the key from the lock box.. the rooms are very tiny, but were pretty clean, did not like that The shower and toilet were all in the same area. It was just a big bathroom with the toilet a sink and a shower with no doors no walls no nothing just open. There were lots of places to walk to around there so that was really nice and convenient.Parkside restaurant and Los Gatos roasting coffee were really good.

My ssenior parents said there, super easy access to ADA room from parking lot, not steps, smooth pavement and direct to room. Only issue was (room 41) the tube/shower. Not a walk in shower setup, for older seniors negoiating the tube was not an option. Should be a walk in shower.

The room was run down. The bathroom had peeling paint on the walls, and around the sink. The toilet was so close to the wall you had to sit to the side or you legs would fit. There was a pile of equipment, boxes stored outside the door.

It is an older property and currently some of the rooms were being renovated. I wish we had been notified and given the opportunity to select other rooms . The work going on in the rooms next to ours was noisy, and started early. I'm not sure if the room we were assigned to had been renovated yet, but the grouting in the (nice large shower) was dingy looking and shower slippers were a must. Also the toilet was unusually low to the groung requireing deep knee bend to use. The bed was too large for the room, making it so that there was a nightstand only on 1 side of the King size bed. Perhaps changing the bed out for a queen matress in that room makes more sense The addition of another mirror outside of the bathroom also would have been helpful. The room was nicely appointed with a coffee /tea machine, a small microwave, refrigerator, and real plates cutlery, and plenty of drinking vessels . Parking was adequate for our midsize car but I noticed larger cars struggled finding space. Staff were pleasant, and welcoming.

The room was kind of clean but there was at least a half inch space between the bottom of the door and the threshold the wind. The dust blew right underneath the door. I tried to get out of staying another night but they said that since we had paid for 2 days as a package deal that could leave if I wanted but they wouldn't give me any money back. There was spider webs and dust bunnies all over the ceiling. There was no soap in the bathroom. We called the front desk they said come pick up a bar of soap. They're doing upgrades and people are working on rims. Very close by where we were so it was very noisy. Dusty dirty.

  • Shawn Apr 2026 · via expedia

The front desk does not stay open as long as they say. Their recording says they are open until 10, but--despite calling and leaving a message about what time we would arrive--the front desk was dark and locked when we arrived at 8:45 pm. We sat on the sidewalk wondering what to do before deciding to call the "emergency" number. Then the person on the phone directed us to the lock box via the phone and helped us get in the room. It would have been nice to recieve a message about procedure ahead of time to avoid the stresss involved with tired travelers not able to access a room after dark. Not a pleasent experience.

It is definitely not the most modern hotel and needs some cosmetic updates BUT there is a lot to love. Location is perfect, very walkable, safe and lots of parking. They have free coffee and snacks in the lobby which was really nice after a long drive. The bed and pillows made for perfect sleep. It's quiet here. Bottles of ice cold water in the fridge was another thoughtful touch. Staff could've been nicer (smiles go a long way). Would definitely stay here again.

I love the property. However, the room did not smell great. The toilet wasn't connected to the floor properly and there was no toilet seat. The "patio" was full of construction materials. There was... a toilet in the courtyard. It was nicer than the one in the room. But it was in the middle of the courtyard. There was nobody at the front desk. I never actually saw anyone. It was an interesting stay.

Excellent location!! Allows pets! Easy messaging and communication with the property. Would've given 4.5 instead because the security gates don't actually close well and the next door neighbours arriving and situating was pretty loud, not a lot of sound insulation, the driveway to enter and park is narrow and dead end requiring a 4 point turn around to get out, and my specific room wall air system would not shut off the fan (even Off) and stayed colder than I chose. But minor complaints! Room, bath, office and kitchen were wonderful. Location is *stellar*. I'd stay there again!!!

My room was one of the less expensive rooms near the courtyard (#121) and is in need of at least some renovation. Noticeably, the drapes were in need of cleaning. The room was otherwise clean and adequate, and had a mini fridge and Keurig. Parking was easy though I'd imagine a large vehicle may be cramped. The desk clerk was friendly and personable. I do appreciate the retro style as opposed to antiseptic chain hotels, and Garden Inn still retains its charm.

Parking area very safe and has cameras. Room was so quaint and tasteful. It felt like a bedroom from the early 1900's. Historic and so well preserved. The walls are thin, cause it's an older building, but the bed and amenities were outstanding. Bathroom very "newish", nothing lacking at all. Maid staff did a great job. Angel was very helpful the second day I was there. Thanks Angel! Unfortunately the front desk person that checked me in had a condescending horrible attitude. It felt like my questions were bothersome. I didn't like that. It doesn't cost anything to be cordial and decent to people. Everyone and everything else was exemplary. Definitely recommend this little gem and I like it better than The Toll House or the Los Gatos Hotel. Much less stodgy and not Silicon Valley uppity at all. It was a great trip to come and see family. Everything centrally located, all I needed was in walking distance. Thank you!

I am very familiar with this area and this hotel is in THE prime location to everything I need. Your right off HWY 17 which can get you to the coast in less than 30 min if desired, SJ airport 15min, walk to dining and shopping 2-5 min. Vasona lake trail is A MUST( go south for challenges and north for more even path trail. Both directions are filled with beautiful landscape. Every level of dining from brunch to dinner quick or full Dining options s are at your fingertips. Hotel: basic needs are met, no frills, clean and safe. Older but functioning devices and interior decor. Very much like a bed and breakfast feel. Recommendations: update the mattresses, bedding and air. Overall I find this place works well for me.

Checking in was great but the person working the front desk in the morning was absolutely miserable. We came down around 10:15 am to see if we could get some coffee and the office was locked. Came back at 10:50 to check out and it was still locked. I ended up giving the keys to the house keepers who were great. When we were leaving the parking area I noticed someone was at the desk. I ran in to let them know we had left the keys with the house keepers and he couldn't have been more rude. It's the hospitality business, maybe try and be hospitable.

I have stayed here many times over the last decade. It's lovely, but it does seems to be fraying around the edges. Not as well maintained as it once was. Keys for the gate locks worked intermittently or not at all. The resurfacing material for the tub surround tile was peeling off. In general the furniture, walls, doors, floors and trim could use repair, paint and attention. Still the a great bargain for the area, though.

There was a lot of confusion when checking in. They did not know which room was available. It took 20 minutes to sort it out. I did get a room upgrade to an executive suite, though. Sitting on the bed, the top cover was making my legs itch. Not sure if it was dirty, or what, but it was certainly a problem. Also, when I went to check out at 9:45AM, the door to the office was locked and no one there. I stay here every 6 weeks for the last 4 weeks. I hope that this isn’t a sign to come.

There’s a drop ceiling in the bathroom and the drywall wasn’t put in correctly. One spot had a hole that someone had shoved Kleenex in. The vanity looks like it had taken a beating and the faucet wasn’t attached correctly. The cold water was fine but it was nearly impossible to get the hot to turn and when you did it moved the whole fixture. The sink also wasn’t draining. The bathroom was long and skinny so you had to sit sideways on the toilet or you didn’t fit. There was also paint separating and sliding down the wall. The seating in the room was a folding chair. Someone had shoved bits of Kleenex in the peepholes in the door. The remote for the fan and lights was broken and taped together to hold the batteries in. It barely worked and turning the light on and off was an issue unless you didn’t mind the fan off and used the switch. Throughout the night the light would turn itself on, repeatedly. The walls were also paper thin and you could hear everything the neighbors said or did. The room wasn’t dusty, but judging by our socks the floors weren’t very clean. They also charge way more through Expedia. One of the nights alone was $75 more. I’ve had hotels contact me to let me know. Here they show you after and say book direct next time. I’ll pass on a repeat visit.

Everything about the place was nice, I like how each sections of rooms has their own gate that u have to unlock for u to get inside, good way to prevent outsiders from being in the area, area also looked nice in general, there was a little patio area by my room, I never went but I imagine if I came with a friend we would’ve gone out there for sure, the room was great, spacious, big closet thought I didn’t need it, bathroom was a bit small but not an issue, they provide with lotion, body wash shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, the towels are one of the best I’ve used at hotels, they were very soft compared to other places I’ve been. I’m not a coffee drinker but room had a coffee machine and some expressos to choose from, also came with a fridge (also had 2 waters in there waiting but idk if that’s from previous customer or if the hotel provides it) and a microwave, I bought food from my place that I was able to heat up thanks to that. although I didn’t use it, place also had an office area, would be great for someone if they wanted to some work at the place, the TV had a whole selection of channels to choose from, the bed was a bit noisy when u would get on/off and move around but otherwise really comfortable, also the area/street is all looks great would definitely recommend this place, and would like to come again

Location: Excellent! Just a few minutes walk from the core of the Los Gatos business district, which is very cute and filled with restaurants and shops. Hotel grounds: A lovely garden courtyard that is clean and well maintained. Room interior: Clean and spacious. It was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and even proper plates and silverware. The shower was not enclosed and did not have a curtain, so it had a tendency to get water in the rest of the in the long, skinny bathroom despite best efforts to avoid it. Hotel breakfast: Prepackaged muffins and similar. EV charging: Unfortunately access to the chargers was intermittent. There are 3 chargers (one non-Tesla, 2 Tesla), which is excellent for a building of less than 30 rooms. Charging is free, which was a nice unexpected perk. Day 1: I arrived after the office closed at 10 PM. The EV chargers are installed in locked cabinets, so I was not able to access them on my first night. Day 2: The code provided by the front desk did not unlock the charger. The front desk used a key to unlock it. Day 3: At 9:30 PM, I learned that the hotel does not allow overnight charging; a non-guest might unplug my car and charge their car at cost to the hotel. This struck me as a bad reason. I was not able to charge before departure.

The hotel owner was extremely nice. I didn’t like the fact that the cable TV was not working the entire time, the ceiling fan was broken, the AC unit was stuck on two modes of cold, the luggage lift did not work causing tenets to have to pull their belongings around to the street, then back into the property. I’m sure that the owner would have prorated the cost in compensation, but I feel that Expedia won’t care to make any adjustments. That would be the right thing to do, but again, I don’t think that Expedia corporation will do that.

Great location, quiet, yet blocks from downtown Los Gatos. The plants on the property did add a nice ambience when walking to the room. However, the room was dated and not kept repaired (large sections of paint missing from tiles, cheap bedding, and aged faucets). The walls were very thin and the gym next door contributed to early morning noise with gym members dropping/bouncing large weights onto the floor. The front desk wasn't friendly. The lobby isn't open until 9AM, so coffee must be obtained down the street or using the machine in the room. Questions can be addresses from 9a -10pm, not earlier, which is inconvenient for business travelers. And... they use actual physical keys -- one to get onto the property and a second to get into the room. Over-all, the place was tolerable, but little things add up, so there is no reason to stay there on my next business trip to Los Gatos.

The staff was really nice. The area its located is perfect, and the little patio area is cute. The room is pretty small and a bit outdated for my taste. It reminds me of a grandma's small spare room with a bathroom, and it smelled like it, too. That was a BIG negative thing for me. It smelled dusty and old. There was purifier, which was nice, and I definitely ran it all night. The room was cleaned ok, but there were cobwebs in the shower and other small things that made me question if they actually really cleaned it. FYI, I would not call it a hotel at all. A motel or inn would fit better. I most likely would not stay here again, but if you were pressed for time to find a place like I was, you can't really beat the price. Ps: The shower was pretty nice besides the cobwebs.

I have stayed at LG Garden Inn many times. After staying in most of the various rooms, it’s my opinion that all of the rooms need to be updated. Bathrooms are extremely uncomfortably small. The A/C heat unit may or may not work in various rooms. Most of the mattresses need replacing. I only stay if the rate is low. You get what you pay fire. If the rate is high, I stay at other nearby hotels.

Los Gatos Garden Inn is a bargain within an expensive town where hotel rooms often run $300 or more. Beds and rooms are clean and comfortable -- and within a locked courtyard. Rooms can feel a bit randomly put together re furniture, but for these prices who cares? Free parking behind the motel.
