Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. Its location is a major selling point, with guests appreciating its proximity to restaurants, shops, and trails. However, the hotel is often criticized for its outdated decor, thin walls and floors, and lackluster breakfast offerings. Some guests also express frustration with the hotel's pricing and additional fees.
- Clean and comfortable rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Outdated decor and amenities
- Thin walls and floors leading to noise disturbances

Fire pits didn’t work and the front desk didn’t care or even offer to help when we asked. No microwave in the rooms, mini fridge sits on the ground in the walkway so there is barely and room to walk between the bed and tv. Overall a terrible experience and will not stay there again.

Everything about the hotel was excellent
- 5/5
Room was very small along with small balcony. I made and paid for this reservation 6 months in advance expecting a more generous room. I did not get that!!!
- 3/5
Location and staff were LOVELY! The property is just a bit dated.

- 2.5/5
The property was just I asked for my room to be clean the floors to be mopped. They were filthy. I mopped the floor myself and sent it down to house cleaning, and they tried to give me a different story. I asked to speak with a manager who never contacted me. The first room they put me and had Cheerios on the floor glitter in the chair and the fan to the air conditioner would not shut off. The beds are hard as rocks.

The location is nice Our room smelled terrible. There was some type of deodorant or air freshener that made the room uncomfortable. It was so strong and never went away.

Spacious rooms, great area for walking and dining.

The hotel is beginning to show wear. This could be a red flag. A five star hotel that lets basic maintenance slip could be a sign of financial insolvency.

- 3/5
The property is convenient and ok. But expensive for what it is. Rooms are very small and very basic. There are no amenities and no extra so the cost is what is the issue. Stay only for convenience.
- 1/5
During such a difficult and emotional time, I had hoped for a little compassion and flexibility. Sadly, that was not my experience. Because of how this situation was handled, I will not be staying here again.
- 5/5
Parking was good do you still get charged for parking and yes, the bar was open and running everyone there is very friendly
- 3/5
Toilet broke down at 11 p.m., no maintenance staff on duty. Had to get luggage cart and change rooms on my own. No valet service-all luggage handled personally with luggage cart. Only one elevator to use. Dated furniture in room. One lamp out, no bulb replacement. Hall light near elevator out. Great location. Los Gatos is a beautiful town. Probably wouldn't stay there again until it is updated. RIght now it's a place frozen in time-maybe 1980. The new owner could turn this into a first class place appropriate to the town.
- 5/5
Room clock broken. No restaurant available for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Small breakfast offerered ran out of sweet rolls by 8:30 am!
- 3.5/5
Location Restaurant open past 8:00 pm. Arrived hungry and struggled to find open restaurant nearby. No room service available either. No microwave in room.

Hotel is very dated and definitely not worth the high price it once was. Room was large and comfortable. Appreciate that hotel is dog friends ($75 for two dogs max). Restaurant/bar wasn’t open on a Saturday which was weird. Staff was very friendly.
- 4/5
We enjoyed our stay and I'm planning on another just to enjoy downtown Los Gatos. The room we were in had drywall falling off the roof in the shower, and I wouldn't recommend these rooms if you are not comfortable with sharing bathroom space-the trendy frosted glass thing in the bathroom was more transparent than another room we had stayed in, so if you're not comfortable with that level of sharing...it's important to know. Maybe because I booked through Hotels.com they give out lower quality room? But in general, the facility was wonderful, suited our needs, was as comfortable as a hotel can be. I would recommend staying there.

Great hotel with nice rooms in a really fun location. Special shoutout to McKenzie for being extra helpful with my million questions and requests
- 5/5
We had some real travel challenges, and the hotel was very kind and accommodating through it all. I can’t say how welcome it was to be treated so well.
- 1/5
Don't stay here. It's neglected and poorly managed. Paper cups in the rooms, too cheap for glassware. Elevators not working Staff are not professional. Hotel Los Gatos is vastly superior. We will never stay at Toll House again.
- 5/5
It was a comfortable get away. But I did expect better based on the price. Having to plug in the lamp between beds to have light was inconvenient. The heater was loud all night - even when we turned it off. The bathroom door isn’t on it’s track right and I almost got locked in. The bathroom doesn’t have a light separate so as not to turn on the whole vanity light in the middle of the night.
- 4/5
A nice refurbished older hotel.
- 4/5
The internal decor is the one of a business hotel, plain and very clean. I wouldn't describe it as a high end hotel but is still very nice. The best part is its direct location in downtown Los Gatos close to many nice restaurants. The bed was comfortable, only suggestion: i would use king size pillows on the queen bedstoo
- 3/5
The heating system in the room has a fan that is very noisy. Needs upgrading..
- 5/5
Fabulous hotel! Awesome hotel reception and staff! Room was very clean and everything was Fresh Clean Fresh! The hotel itself is wonderful to walk around. Located walking distance to shops and restaurants!
- 5/5
The room was clean and a good size. It didn’t feel small. The gym was modest but functional. The downside was the restaurant was closed during the holidays so we had to eat at Parkside instead. That was a very pleasant dining experience so we weren’t disappointed. The proximity of the hotel to downtown Los Gatos was ideal. We walked everywhere and thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all a fantastic stay and we look forward to returning, especially when the restaurant is open.
- 3/5
Greatly located, rooms are old but ok but the blinds are horrible. Probably the worst I’ve ever since. The lady at the front desk was great…
- 5/5
Great location & very comfortable bed.
- 5/5
I love staying at the Toll House because of it's proximity to the Sunday Farmers Market and Downtown. It's well maintained, clean and staff are friendly. It's reasonably priced in comparison to some other Los Gatos hotels.
- 5/5
All great
- 5/5
Ivy is always helpful. Always friendly staff and helpful
- 3/5
The thermostat in the room was not consistent. The room was chilly most of the stay when it should have been toasty. Called the front desk from the room phone to check out. Rang about 10 times then someone hung up. Called again no answer. Called from my cell phone after the 5th ring it was picked up. I let them know I tried calling from my room with no acknowledgment of the attendant. I would not return to this establishment.
- 5/5
Nice hotel in the heart of downtown
- 4/5
Room was nice and comfortable. Losing a star because Fridge didn’t work even after requesting it be fixed. Bar closed for the whole time of my stay.
- 3/5
The hotel is a fine place to stay briefly. It wouldn't take much for them to upgrade..... it's a bit beat up. Great location, easy parking and access to the freeway.
- 5/5
Very convenient location !!
- 5/5
Staff was great!
- 5/5
Great Hotel in a great area.
- 4/5
It was all good.
- 4/5
We went to the bar at 7:30 on a Friday night and it was closed. It was supposed to be open until 10:00. We were very disappointed.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly, great location and lots of amenities
- 5/5
It was very nice and staff was professional
- 5/5
very nice staff and a very comfortable clean room with a balcony.
- 5/5
I would stay at the hotel again. Thank you!

Nice stay all night n all
- 5/5
Greeat place and location
- 5/5
Hotel seemed very quiet for a weekend Bar was not open at 4 Room was spacious, plain and clean ADA bathroom was huge and easy to maneuver. Garage was spacious and pretty empty
- 1/5
Didn't get a refund.
- 3/5
We complained, nice receptionist gave us fresh towels etc but did not resolve our grievances. Stayed in better motels to be honest. Attached restaurant and bar closes at 9pm so no food or beverage offerings after that, despite being marketed as a tavern. Location is great, parking, and recharging your car but at this s price I could not recommend.
- 4/5

- 3/5
Rooms are very small older hotel that has had some remodeling done. charged a resort fee but the bar was closed there was no restaurant (they say they have dinner service but we were there at 6pm no dinner noted) First night there bar had a private party of about 20 people but the whole bar area was inaccessible the courtyard was closed no breakfast coffee and apples! just what was the resort fee for???
- 3/5
Bar and restaurant were never open. Place needs a complete update. Location and lack of other options is saving hotel.
- 5/5
Always feel safe here.
- 4/5
Clean room, half bottle of wine given at check-in, room unit for heat/air conditioner was efficient and not loud, comfortable bed and pillows, Loved the outdoor gym.
- 4/5
Great location downtown. Love the outdoor courtyard common area. Free parking is always nice and 10+ EV chargers.
- 5/5
Everything was awesome
- 4/5
Good for the price
- 5/5
Loved the hotel and enjoyed sitting out on the deck off my room.
- 3/5
The hotel was hosting to very loud activities on a Friday night AND Saturday night. Our room was just off the front lobby and these groups of people were so obnoxiously loud that my husband finally went to the front desk wearing his pjs asking for assistance. The guy said he was just getting ready to get off but he would say something, he did NOT. The following night, same scenario! My husband finally went to talk to the people gathered outside just two doors down. Clueless! I get it, they were most likely drunk but there’s no way the hotel employees couldn’t hear them and should have acted on the behalf the other guests! Upon check out we recapped our less than nice experience with the front desk and there was an “I’m sorry you had a bad experience” but nothing beyond that. I was hoping for a manager to reach out but still nothing. I decided to write an honest review. Toll House should have offered much better guest service.
- 5/5
The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel properly overall was very nice and in very close proximity to restaurants, shopping and nightlife. We will stay again.
- 3/5
It’s old hotel, not clean. Needed to use my sandals to take a shower and walk around the room.
- 4/5
The hotel overall was nice and clean and front desk service was excellent. However, our room wasn’t cleaned for 2 days even though it was available for cleaning. Also there’s no restaurant on property, so food options are limited.
- 5/5
Lovely
- 5/5
Great place we stay here every Labor Day
- 2/5
Booked double queen room for family of 4. Checked in and that room was not available as it was oversold. Placed in a single king room with fold out couch and roll away. Fold out couch has disgusting stain on the mattress. Asked for another roll away. “Sorry, we are out of roll aways.” All of this at 11pm. Total disaster. Front host did the best she could and was friendly.
- 5/5
The property was clean and located centrally in the city. There was plenty of restaurants and eating options. I had a great time walking the city with my puppies.
- 3/5
It was okay
- 4/5
The room is well appointed with a split bathroom. The only annoyance was the a/c unit. Loud and the cold air blasts directly on the bed.
- 5/5
Great place with easy access to downtown.
- 3/5
Dated facilities, cost similar to other high end hotels in the area. Very little staff. Bar costs very high, on a scale of five I’d rate it a two. Until new management and reduced charges I will not return.
- 2/5
As of 8/15/25, Toll House Hotel's listing on Travelocity and its own website falsely state that the hotel has an on-site restaurant. It doesn't. There are plenty of great eateries within steps of the hotel, but for our own reasons we explicitly requested a hotel with a restaurant. So we canceled after the first night of a planned five-night stay. Staff cheerfully assisted in getting our partial refund from Travelocity. But I suggest you de-list the hotel until they update their property description.
- 2/5
When we got there, we were charged more than what we paid through Expedia only because they offered us two bottles of Water for $50 and the amenities that doesn’t sound like a good property to stay at hidden prices
- 5/5
Thank you
- 3/5
Property is very clean and staff are very friendly. Outside of the hotel being very clean and new, the amenities are very minimal.
- 3/5
The property has seen better days, toilet would lean when you sat on it, patio furniture was coming apart, took 2 hours to deliver a crib to the room - all fixable things, but put a damper on an otherwise pleasant experience.
- 3/5
Very pleasant experience for the most part. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
- 4/5
Aesthetics of a Holiday Inn - spartan accommodations - plain room - upgraded to a balcony/ problem was view was of water treatment equipment and parking lot -
- 2/5
Restaurant closed. Construction noise at 5am. "Celebration of life" event in the lobby all afternoon/evening
- 5/5
Will book here again!
- 4/5
Great location, clean
- 5/5
The lack of any kind of breakfast was unexpected.
- 5/5
Nice and reasonably placed hotel
- 5/5
The hotel is very convenient to everything. While older, it is well kept up for the most part.
- 4/5
My friends and I meet in Los Gatos once a year to go have dinner and hang out. We stay at this hotel because of the proximity to everything and the price is reasonable. The only thing the room is lacking is a full length mirror.
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 5/5
The hotel was in an excellent location. The room was very clean and the staff were great
- 3/5
Staff needs training. Kind of rude and unwelcoming
- 4/5
Hotel is quiet and comfortable.
- 5/5
Very enjoyable. Only thing was as I was waking up, I stared at the horrible ceiling patch job in the Sheetrock
- 1/5
My room was not ready even though I arrived after check-in time. They said it would take 10-15 minutes. An hour later I asked and my room was ready. Magically. Then the power went out which was unfortunate but I got stuck in between emergency doors. I got no help. I walked down three flights of stairs in the dark it was so dangerous. There were no signs no lights no safety measures. It was scary and I almost fell. The doors towards the lobby were closed I had to go out to the street in an alley and then get back to the lobby. By walking around the corner by the trash cans. I have major health issues I have handicap placard but busses were blocking all the handicap spots. The room had a portable AC unit but nobody told me ahead of time. The window was open to have the unit work out the window. The room was on the street - exit of a freeway, it was really loud all night. There is a bar and some sort of truck work going on. It was so loud. I asked to speak to a manager they said they would call me asap it is four days later no manager. I spoke to the front desk they were not helpful. Yet charged me for upgrade. And cleaning crew spoke about me in the hall, I speak spanish. I understood it all. I was told $35 fee waived for waiting an hour but no discounts on bill, not shocked There is supposed to be breakfast/food but restaurant is roped off. I am not sure what the resort fee is for, no AC, no pool, no food, no parking, no working fridge, no nothing. Will never be back!!
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Perfect location and within walking distance to all the restaurants and shops!!
- 3/5
Hotel was in a nice location and room was fine. Lower star rating because of poor customer service. We had a power outage the morning we checked out and were planning on staying up until check out (to walk around town). We left around 8 am instead due to the outage. When I asked about compensation, the manager just said it was not their fault and there would be no compensation. The response was absent an apology or empathy. That's just basic customer service.
- 5/5
Great rooms with easy access to an amazing downtown with amazing shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
They gave me a better room than before.
- 4/5
Needs some updating. There was a gap under my door to my from from the hallway. The bartender was very friendly and the service was great, but the food was not.
- 5/5
Loved that it’s right in downtown Los Gatos.
- 5/5
Walkable to everywhere in LG
- 5/5
The hotel was clean and updated. The staff was efficient and knowledgeable. Downtown was walkable and had many options.
- 3/5
Bar closed. At times it was hard to find staff. No bedside charging nor outlets.
- 4/5
I wish the bar was open.
- 4/5
Close to all the restaurants and shopping
- 5/5
Upgraded our room. Lovely front desk staff. Room was well appointed
- 3/5
There was nothing outstanding here. Hotel is very much in need of an upgrade as it is dreary and very dull. That being said, it is quiet and clean.
- 5/5
Beautiful and spacious. Had a wonderful time here! The breakfast is simple just fyi! bagels, pastries, yogurt, and coffee.
- 4/5
Very nice property in every way except the room was small amd the bar isnt open on Sundays, the day we arrived, and room drrvice is not offered. Otherwise very nice.
- 5/5
Clean and very nice.
- 4/5
Great place
- 1/5
It was safe . But my first night I was up all night with a loud noise in the way !! So mad
- 4/5
The receptionist both at check in,check out and the bartender were very professional and kind. They made my stay better then expected. Unfortunately I had a bear sleeping next to my room and could hear him snore all night long. I checked out went home and took a nap. It ruined my plans for the day.
- 5/5
Very happy with location. Staff was excellent.
- 5/5
The grounds were immaculate and the staff was simply outstanding.
- 2/5
I was met with the dreaded resort fee upon checking in. It is amazing how a place like this, which is the most basic of accommodations, feels entitled to a resort fee. Aside from a morning coffee bar there is nothing “resort” about the Toll House. It is rather tired old hotel in need of many updates and a serious boost in water pressure in the rooms. There used to be a decent restaurant but it is now a “tavern” as they call it serving bar food. The housekeeping staff are doing good work on their end but it is hard to keep old things looking new.
- 4/5
Only negatives were the bathroom tile was slippery and I slipped out of the shower and fell on my back...ouch! The faucet is set so that the water comes out on the counter or is hard to get your hands under without making a mess. The door extra lock that I always lock was missing. Super easy parking!
- 5/5
Beautiful place no complaints
- 3/5
On the downside, the "breakfast" is only coffee and pastries (so nothing for anyone with a GF restriction. Also, it would have been nice to know ahead of time that the bar/restaurant was going to be closed the entire weekend, so there was really no option at all for food or a drink on-site. A group of us convened in the lobby for a glass of wine (we brought our own) before dinner and they wouldn't even allow us to use the glasses that were sitting out at the closed bar. Also, as a OneKey platinum member, I was supposed to receive a complimentary bottle of wine with my stay and they didn't have that available to give me.
- 3/5
Everything was just adequate. Not great and not good but OK. Elevator was out of order so we had to carry luggage up the stairs, which was only a problem because it was New Year’s Eve and my female companion was wearing heels (we had three bags and I could only carry two.) The shower hadn’t been properly cleaned (see photon- eeeeww!). And there were no glasses in the room so we had to drink our champagne out of paper cups.
- 5/5
I’ve stay ever new years there and I love it
- 2/5
Location is good. However, for a pricey hotel, their customer service and breakfast is terrible!! For breakfast they just had a table with some really cheap quality bagels and danish. Coffee was mediocre. More like gas station quality. A few fruits but no bananas.. and worst was cartons of pineapple juice; one of which has moss inside!!! There was no room service.. we called to change towels and take out trash on the second day but no one did.
- 4/5
Long walk to room, very clean, hard pillows , took a long time for water to heat for shower , toilet flush worked intermittently
- 5/5
Thanks for the bottle of wine
- 5/5
The bar/restaurant was ok. Bartender was awful….we received wrong drinks and she didn’t know how to make a simple drink.
- 5/5
Everything was good
- 5/5
Very convenient to shops & restaurants. Plenty of parking & easy access to elevators.
- 5/5
One of the finer hotel in bay area.
- 5/5
Very pleasant, quiet, and barely a block from downtown. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Great area, parking super easy and safe
- 5/5
Nice staff
- 4/5
Food services were lacking. No decaf coffee service.
- 5/5
Great location. Really pretty hotel.
- 4/5
Location, clean
- 5/5
I have been staying here for over 25years... love the place.
- 4/5
Th I thought it was a good hotel. It was very clean. Staff was good and the location was great.
- 4/5
The property is amazing. Unfortunately the water heater was out so we couldn’t shower for two days while we were there, but there’s not it was fabulous. That’s rare for that to happen.
- 5/5
Beautiful accommodations, comfy room, very convenient to Los Gatos.
