The hotel offers beautiful views and well-maintained outdoor amenities, including pools and a beach area. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, and the location is convenient for exploring Charleston. However, many guests have complained about small, outdated rooms with inadequate bathrooms, as well as issues with noise and cleanliness.

The lack of food options especially for breakfast were disappointing for this size of a resort. Also, no room service in this level of property is a HUGE miss. The main/common areas are nicely maintained but the rooms definitely could use some fresh paint and TLC. Also, bring your own soap and shampoo. The dispensers in the shower are so low quality it takes forever to get the soap out.

Our room was nice enough. We had room 215 which was a “harbor view” room, we could see the next door beach club swimming pool. The beds were nice, I would’ve preferred less giant pillows and a couple of standard sized pillows. 6 lg pillows per queen sized bed is too many! I liked the bar and grill, nice staff and ok bar food. The hotel could use a few nice vending machines. The downside is that there is only 1 restaurant . The fish house, it has a magnificent view, but we were not impressed with the food. They did not have takeout. The free shuttle to downtown was nice. James should have been a tour guide!

They could’ve done a better job at cleaning the rooms and the bedsheets, but the view is beautiful. The property is fun with a lot of great restaurants in the area. Keep in mind if there’s an event happening on the grounds like a wedding you will hear loud music well into the night.

For those who like all the details, the décor is a little dated, and some areas of the rooms show wear and tear from the years. Our bathroom pocket door did not close all the way, and the bathroom itself was just average. None of that bothered us, though. The beds were comfortable, and the sheets and towels were very clean, which is what matters most to us. The balcony is a must-have, and the harbor view was spectacular. The Reef Bar is older and has a musty smell, likely from years of being right on the harbor, which is probably unavoidable. That said, the staff was amazing, and the food was excellent. My teenage girls loved the hand-battered chicken tenders, homemade chips, and ranch. The pizza was also very good—top-notch bar food. The complimentary coffee machine was delicious, honestly better than Starbucks. We also loved the free s’mores kits available at the front desk. Just ask, and they’ll provide everything you need. Staff will even light the beautiful harbor-side fire pits. The water taxi was a fun adventure to historic downtown. We highly recommend Ruby’s for brunch, it looks closed from the outside, but it isn’t! The pool was our favorite part of the property, with great chairs, a tiki bar, and beautiful views. For dinner, Shem Creek is only minutes away and offers even more stunning waterfront scenery. Overall, if a little cosmetic issues dont bother you, its amazing

Great location, grounds are wonderful, pools, etc. rooms are small though for a family of 4. Room phone didn’t work and pocket door for the bathroom wouldn’t close completely. We just returned from a 16 day roadtrip & this resort was bar-none the finest & most beautiful of all our stays. 5 stars all the way. The grounds are immaculate with lovely walkways along the Marina. 3 pools; fire pits; ping-pong; & a no-swim private beach. The restaurant was very good as well. The rooms were beautiful! Beautiful ocean views; coastal decor in blues & oranges - immaculate! The bed & pillows were comfy & the rooms were quiet. Very convenient location - right next to the Aircraft Carrier USS Yorktown & the ferry. We loved Charleston overall - particularly this resort - 2 nights weren’t enough! 5 stars. ⭐️

The resort views are nice, but the room needs a bit of extra care. They gave me a blanket with holes in it. The bed protector needs to be replaced; it has holes and stains. All the bed skirts are about to fall off as we walk around, especially since the room is so small. The floor is scratched, and the bathroom door has no handle. I don't know how this resort got a 4-star rating.

Staff was just okay. No one was overly friendly but not rude either. The bedding was clean and pillows comfortable. Pools clean and outdoors kept nice. I will say that the bathroom could use fresh grout in the showers and some updating. And fresh white paint would go a long way. I’ve definitely stayed in nicer places for less money but the location and amenities were good.

For 350 a night and a 40 a day resort fee, I don't think a moldy, mildewed shower is acceptable. The doors doesn't close properly, paint was peeling off my door, you can't start the shower without getting soaked because of the half glass door, the hot tub was down the entire time I was there. No one ever cleaned the wheelchair sidewalk. There was a shower one afternoon and no one came.back to wipe tables or chairs after and it was a beautiful evening. Even after a few guest came out and was wiping things down themselves, no staff ever showed up to assist. There was a band that was supposed to play Thursday evening, never showed. So, for 1300 for 3 nights, this was subpar. Id never recommend this stay.

    4/5

The amenities at the property are amazing, multiple pools, beach area, ocean front with great places for relaxing, walkable pier and Mariana with Harbor, Bridge, and Charleston views that are so beautiful they seem unreal. On the downside, this is more of an upscale property that needs TLC, cob webs in the ceiling fan over the bed, towels look dingy, walls, doors and trim need to be repainted and everything needs to be refreshed (room 440). Also seeing 3 portable restrooms and tents with junk sitting in the beach area distorted the view a bit from our room. Additionally, the food from the Reef Bar was inconsistent. On 5/24/26 the grouper sandwich was cooked perfectly. On the evening of 5/25/26, the fish was burnt and the chicken on the Cobb salad was too tough to eat. However, I would still stay here again because of the relaxing and majestic views. Also the Harbor side was quiet and relaxing, we did not hear any noise.

This property is situated in an excellent location in the Mount Pleasant area. If you have a car, Sullivans Island, Isle of Palms, Shems creek are all within a 5-15 minute drive. There is a shuttle that will drop you off in downtown Charleston for a day in the city. The property was fairly clean overall, but certain things are very dated. It could use a “freshen “ up in some areas. The outdoor areas were really enjoyable! Nice clean pools and fireplaces right on the water. Due to the excellent location I would definitely stay again! But a little sprucing up would really take this hotel to the next level!

This place was absolutely beaten up. Grounds were not maintained, walls, rooms, hallways etc stained dirty broken and just really bad shape for the price. Things that were offered were not available and if there is any event scheduled, guests are pushed out of those areas over 4 hours before an event when eating lunch in a common area (even though charged an amenities fee on top of the stay by the ownership). Extremely confusing to get on the property and everything listed as “on property” was not accurate as there is an adjoining “higher end” facility which other guests thought was where they were staying as well. First and last time ever. Would have been a memorable 25th anniversary but now it is for all of the wrong reasons. Suggest bite the $$ bullet and stay in Charleston.

I’ve stayed at this property more than a dozen times. During this stay, I am very disappointed at its declining condition overall. In addition to hair in the bathtub, I found the disgusting neglect of cleaning the bathroom grout, a large spot on the sheet, and a collective ‘grimey’ feel of the room. Normal wear and tear is acceptable. Uncleanliness is not. And to add insult to injury, I paid for a harbor view room and got a pool view with a very minimal view of the harbor. Since we got in late the first night, I waited until the next morning to very kindly ask the desk clerk to move to a harbor view room. He said he could not accommodate. I wasn’t asking for an accommodation, only what I paid for. After fees and taxes, I spent nearly $1,000 for 2 nights. I could’ve stayed upscale in downtown Charleston at that rate. I will not return.

We had an awesome stay at the Harborside at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina. If we had any regrets, it would be that we only had one nights stay. It is a beautiful and well kept resort. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Charleston area.

This resort is easy to navigate and in an ideal location to visit downtown Charleston, Daniel Island and Mt. Pleasant. A shuttle to the downtown area is available (NC) as well as a water taxi that runs to downtown and Daniel Island (fee). The property is spacious and provides two hotels (Harbor and Beach), several pools, a beach area, bike rental, restaurant, and plenty of parking. There is a full service marina and access to the aircraft carrier Yorktown (fee). The views of the harbor are amazing! I am a local and was enjoying a short get away for a few days with a room on the Harbor side. The hotel is well kept and the staff was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my time being a tourist and had a totally "chillaxin" time. Would highly recommend for visitors to Charleston wanting to experience a variety of options in the area.

This resort was wonderful. It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable. The only thing I will say about the room was it was a slide door to the bathroom and it didn’t have a handle and it was kind of heavy and hard to slide. But really not a big deal. The area around the resort was beautiful. Loved that we could walk out the pier and along the water. We enjoyed that every night we were there. The pool area was very nice as well. Plenty of room and lounge chairs. But the pool water was way too cold to swim in. There seemed to be a pool that must have been warmer that was filled with kids playing. But the other 2 bigger pools were basically not being used because they were so cold. The hot tub was very nice. The weather was perfect when we were there and we would have loved to be able to swim comfortably. There were large fire pits you could sit around that was another nice feature in the evening. The resort had dining options but we didn’t get a chance to try. But seemed like others did. There was also a water taxi available but we didn’t try that either. But the resort wasn’t far from things in Mount Pleasant or even Charleston. It was perfect for what we wanted. We would definitely stay here again if in the Charleston area again. It was a beautiful resort in a beautiful city.

It was a quiet room, however I’m glad it was cold out because our room faced right over the pool, but we had a nice view. You could see the Harbor view however I didn’t like being next to the pool… they were doing some construction so that was a little disappointed because you could see like the mess besides the pool but other than that, it was fine the bar downstairs a little bit weird but they had a nice little fire pit outside

The staff overall was friendly but we had to keep asking for stuff. I called ahead to have a pack n play set up and it wasn’t done. When they brought it late at night they didn’t give us a matters with it. I had to go ask for one the next day. The biggest issue we had was the room view. Straight to the dumpsters that were getting picked up at 7am. This should have been noted when picking the room, I would have paid extra to not see/hear this.

Be careful paying extra for any type of room with a view - it’s not always what they say. We paid extra for a harbor view. Our balcony faced the neighboring building. You COULD see the harbor if you leaned out and looked to the left…so I guess you can have a harbor view if you work at it- but not from inside the room with the doors open. When I asked if that was indeed a harbor view room- The staff laughed and literally said let me know if you have any issues. I told them that was an issue and got another friendly laugh. Disappointing

Unfortunately they had some sort of mechanical issue with the HVAC system on our floor and we had to climb over workers' tools and disassembled cabinets to get to and from our room--and there was some noise from the construction work, which also was a bit of a bummer. But we dealt with it. Only other issues were that this property advertised laundry facilities but did not have any in the hotel, and the shuttle, which runs every hour into Charleston would leave people if it got full and would not come back for another hour. I would recommend sending a backup shuttle to pick people up if there are crowds--rather than stranding people in town and forcing them to take an Uber home.

Our stay was perfect as always. But we did have one meal at the restaurant that wasn’t up to par. But our waiter corrected the meal promptly. The dish was lobster ravioli. We expected the ravioli to be stuffed with the lobster. Instead it was cheese ravioli with a couple of pieces on small lobster on the plate. More or less just cheese ravioli. They need to invest in a charging station or two for ev owners. Charger s are almost ten miles away from Mount Pleasant. They do have a 120 plug in which after charging barely got me to the faster charger. Be sure to stop at a fast chargers station before coming into Charleston.

Check at the front desk was friendly and prompt, unfortunately we had issues right after we got into our room and went to use the bathroom, toilet handle was completely broken. The front desk agent called for maintenance to fix it, it took longer than expected for them to arrive, then we had to stay in the room while he went to get a new part, after that was fixed the sink backed up. I went back to the front desk to ask for assistance getting a new room. The sweet young lady moved us to the next floor up matching the same room from our reservation. The room was nice, yet felt old and slightly run down. The shower was a nightmare, zero water pressure and took forever to get hot water running, and the mold in the grout was disgusting! The tv in the room had horrible reception and the picture went in and out all 3 nights of our stay. Also we were moved to the top floor and shortly after the elevator stopped working, leaving only one for the whole property to use. Thankfully we are active and able to climb flights of stairs. We were on the Marina side, the pool wasn’t heated and the hot tub/spa area was under construction making it unavailable for use. The bar was small and crowded with families, toddlers running around, not making it the ideal place to relax and enjoy a cocktail. The restaurant on the property was nice. Never got to use the hotel shuttle because it was always super crowded.

I love staying here!! But, #1. The bathtub bottom was very slippery. Never fell, but slipped multiple times. Very dangerous! You might want to correct this. Someone WILL fall and you will have legal repercussions. #2. The comforter on the bed was way past its time! Needed to be thrown away it had no value as a source of comfort and warmth. #3. The bedskirt—did nothing but fall off the bed and collect dust in the floor. It needed to be attached properly to the bed. Otherwise, great stay! Thanks!

The location is truly the highlight of this resort — beautiful harbor views and an excellent setting, especially for enjoying sunsets and the waterfront atmosphere. The bikes provided by the hotel were a nice touch and made it easy to explore the surrounding area, which we really enjoyed. Cons: Unfortunately, the hotel itself feels dated and in need of updates. We were traveling with family and were told at check-in that our rooms would be connecting, which was important to us and had been confirmed in advance. However, they were not connecting, which was disappointing and inconvenient. The bathroom door in our room did not lock, which was uncomfortable, especially for a family stay. Breakfast was average at best — comparable to a free hotel breakfast, with the addition of smoked salmon, but not what you would expect at the restaurant.

Extremely small room for 2 beds, bathroom door was off center and had to drag it across the floor only for it to close a little, requested handicap room that they claim they did not get, free coffee 24/7 but the machine was only working 1 of the 4 days, the pump bottles in the shower were so restricted you had to pump several several several times to get anything out, non slip mat in the shower only covered half the tub causing the other part to be extremely slippery, free s'mores kits but we're put every time I asked. I'm sure there were other but this is just off the top of my head. On a scale of 1 to 10, the experience would have been a zero if zero was an option. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NO ONE TO SRAY THERE!

The room was not what we were initially expecting. We thought we had a fireplace and a balcony. When we arrived we only had the fireplace, no balcony. We checked with the desk and they said they could accommodate us in another room with a balcony. We transferred all our belongings to the next room. However what we found was a much smaller room, two beds, ( not a king) and no fireplace. The bathroom exhaust fan did not work and the light over the shower was burnt out. We made due for two nights but were very disappointed with our room. The hotel itself was lovely but aging. The food at the Fish House was delicious!

The resort itself is beautiful and could be a 5 star resort. However, their bathrooms need to be redone as they are outdated; my shower faucet handle needed repair and as such would not provide a steady stream of water nor keep the water temperature consistent. On a more minor note, the cappuccino maker in the lobby broke the second day and staff seemed annoyed when guests asked them to refill the other (simpler) coffee maker.

The balcony room with the view was magnificent. Hearing people laugh and the music going on was great at night. The room was so so. Clean but lacked a coffee maker that worked, fridge was tiny. The bathroom was tiny and a challenge to get into the shower because of the fixed glass wall on the tub. Lacked any water pressure and tiny streams of water. It was just very tight. Th paint could use some polishing up. Some of the areas look dingy. Corners and back of the doors are dirty looking. In room 318 the bathroom door know was on backwards…. Why?? Room could definitely use some TLC. The resort would profit from meal service in the rooms.

Our room was beautiful as was the view. We were there too happy relaxing trip before a cognitive test at a doctor in Mount Pleasant. So the scenery should have provided that. However, the toilet quit working around 11 PM. After 11:30 PM, the maintenance man said it could not be repaired and we can either flush one more time or move rooms. Of course we chose to move rooms after 11:30 PM. In our new room, the lamp that was on would not turn off so I had to call the floor to unplug it. We gotta pull the sheets down and the dust ruffle is in four pieces and falls on the floor. That’s apparently how they are designed. So I tripped over one of those. It is now very late and we need to fall asleep so we wanna turn on the TV to help relax and the TV will not turn on. The next morning, one of us showers, and when the second one showers, the shower will not stay on. Meaning we have to hold the knob with one hand and try to shower with the other. So then my wife wants to lay down and chill herself out because she needs to be calm for this test. She’s about to take. It’s 1030 and check out is at 11. And at 10:32 housekeeping beats on the door. We have stayed at numerous hotels and I’ve never had one that we paid this kind of money to stay in that needed this may repairs between two rooms.

We recently stayed here 2 nights. I would classify the photos online as a bit deceiving. The room was a basic hotel room that was a little dingy. The built-ins were there to look nice, but just took up way too much of the room. We got in about 6pm. We were hoping to warm up some food for supper and make some popcorn. We were informed there was not a single microwave on premises. I understand if it's not in the room, but even the cheapest of hotels will generally have a microwave somewhere. Once in our room, we discovered the TV did not work. After about 1/2hr wait, their "engineer" came to work on it. He left an hour later saying he would tell the front desk and get us a new room. We spent the next 2 nights without hearing anything from anyone and watched TV on our computer. Then upon leaving, we were charged over $45/night additional for "resort fees". I'll stay in a Holiday Inn next time. Better service, better amenities, no resort fees.

The facility was excellent, but we encountered several issues like towel holders and light fixtures falling out of the wall, doors that were hard to open, things like that. The real disappointment was Housekeeping. They did a fair job but every day we had to point out to them things they missed. One day they didn't restock the coffee. Another day we told them the bodywash container in the shower was empty - the good news is they restocked it; the bad news was not with bodywash but, rather lotion - go figure!

The only good thing I can say about our stay is that our room had a nice view and a comfortable bed. Otherwise I would have given only 1 star. Paid an extra resort fee for what? Pool was freezing cold, beach was just sand with no access to water really. Patio with fire pits were closed one night of our stay for a special event. Room was not well maintained with one wall not even painted correctly. Halls looked tired and worn. Our safe did not work and needed to be replaced. No water pressure in shower. Forget about breakfast options. Had to walk to Fish House for two muffins and an OJ for $22. Did not use the shuttle service to the historic district because it did not leave early enough to make tours we scheduled.

Beautiful location on the harbor. You have access to the pool next door at the Beach Club, which is very nice and has great views. The place itself is clean, with a friendly staff, but the Harbor Resort is in desperate need of a paint job and some upkeep. Overall our stay was nice. The location was great and the shuttle to the city was convenient. A few things to improve on: there were dogs on our floor and one large dog woke us up multiple nights after 1130 PM and after midnight barking very loudly in the hallway. The owners were also talking loudly like it was daytime. Pets should be on a pet floor, not with other non-pet guests. It also would have been nice to light more than two firepits because most nights groups took them over so we couldn't sit there, but there were other pits not lit. Also there should be more options for breakfast other than just the expensive buffet. A continental option would have been nice because we had to drive to breakfast each day.

This location was not a bad choice but left something to be desired. The room was very small; the condition of the room and bathroom needed some upgrades and some work. My wife had seen avocado toast but there was none when we had breakfast there. While we will certainly go back to Charlston, we're not sure we would stay here again.

The amount of fees held for a two night stay in a room with basic cable , walls super thin I could hear the people next to me having sex, there was hair and dirt in the tub (thank goodness house keeping cleaned it for me ) . I grabbed a drink from the tiki bar. The bartenders made eye contact but didn't want to serve me and when they did it was not friendly or engaging like they were with other people . I would not recommend a person of color to go to this hotel No updates not worth the Money

This property is on the harbor with beautiful views of the sailboats and cargo ships passing through. It’s amazing to see. The grounds and the hallways were very clean, as was the room. Restaurants on site and bars, a little pricey for drinks and food. Walk to the gift shop and to get the ferry, which will take you to Charleston or you can ride all day $17.00 There is a long boardwalk that is peaceful to walk. I would definitely recommend this place. AND they allow PETS 🐶❤️

We had a wonderful visit at this resort. The grounds were lovely, the view was fantastic and the staff was friendly. The room was large with a walkout, balcony and fireplace and huge bathroom. The oet fee was $150 for a 2 night stay (not $25/night as advertised). The bathroom tub surround had severly damaged tile that was caved in and evidently water damaged. The amentities in the bathroom were absent. For over $200/night youre typically given a shower cap, q-tips, etc. All you get is tissues. Thats it. Our fridge was on its last leg and it made a humming noise all day & night off and on when it turned on to cool. For the price i did not feel like it was worth it. However. The property redeems itself with the convenient travel options to Charleston. The qater taxi was unique, fun, and we found it efficient and very convenient because the resort is a stop on the water taxi. You can WALK to the USS Yorktown from the dock. And we didnt use the free shuttle but it was nice to know we had it if needed. The beach was clean and had lots of games and seating: ladder golf, cornhole, etc. Pool was clean and not crowded. The onsite bars and food were a bonus. The free coffee im the lobby could produce almost any coffee drink you can imagine, including non coffee options like hot chocolate. The grounds were well maintained and made for nice evening walking. The common areas are wlel maintained. The firepits are on until 11 PM every night & were great for ambiance. So since we werent in the room a lot, it was not a total let down to have a mediocre room.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past and it was very nice, but this time it was very disappointing. Although the grounds are nice, the room was horrible. The shower had very little water pressure and you were lucky to get hot water. The room was very outdated and the bathroom was very old.

One issue, train bartenders to make drinks the ame, not different from one bartender to the other. An example would be The Old Fashioned. It was never the same. This is a high end hotel and drinks should reflect this. Television was very basic, no options for Netflix, Prime, etc.

We booked a harbor view room with a balcony. The room they gave us actually overlooked the pool, with an obstructed view of the harbor if you looked sharply to the left. My husband went back to the front desk to ask for a room with a harbor view. The lady at the desk was kind and moved us. We had a room with two queen beds. Overall the room was small. The bathroom had a pedestal sink, with a shelving unit next to it. It also had a pocket door, which was hard to open and close. A knob on both sides of the door would be helpful. The sliding glass door to the balcony was also very hard to open. We enjoyed the harbor view. There are three pools to choose from, and one of them is heated year round. You are charged $40/ day resort fee, which seems excessive to me. With all the restaurants close by in Mt Pleasant, we did not eat at the resort.

The facility was nice, but needs some maintenance. I’m accustomed to the Beach Club so this was different. I was also charged a $100 unknown fee after I checked out without explanation. This was not the best experience and I would expect better.

The rooms need major upkeep. Our shower handle was broken, the water in the shower kept running hot than cold, no water pressure in the sink. The air conditioner made a loud bang when turning on. the shower door would not close and the closet doors would not close. Maintenace was called and he fixed the bathroom door, but could not resolve the other issues. Our room was run down, bedding was good and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Just needs some loving care to details. The staff was excellent., pool area could have used pressure washed.

This resort could use many improvements. The lobby is nothing special. The dining/bar area is dark and dingy and has a very bad odor. When we checked in no one told us, if you stay at the Harborside resort, you could also use the pool at the beachside resort. A another guest told us. The pools weren’t cleaned until after 9:00am when guests were already in the pool and had to get out. The pool patios were dirty, no maintenance to clean empty cups and food container left by the guests. Trash cans in the front, back and pool patio were overflowing with garbage. The views were nice, the pools were nice. There were plenty of loungers for guests. The rooms were clean and spacious. There is a shuttle that runs every hour to take you downtown. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great in Mt Pleasant.

Firstly, the extra rates that were to be paid at the hotel were WAY more than were estimated. Hotels.com estimated approximately $90, it was almost $400 in extra fees! It rained all weekend so we didn’t get to use any of the amenities, the room was filthy and badly in need of a refresh. We decided to splurge and stay near the water, would have preferred to stay in a nicer cleaner hotel inland.

Property was very dated. Absolutely no water pressure barely dripped out of shower, sink stayed clogged. When I checked into the room and could not even open the door to the bathroom because it was stuck. Maintenance had to be called into the room before I was even able to unpack. Not sure if I will go back. Staff was very friendly though.

One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. I had made a mistake when booking dates and Colleen at your front desk was so forgiving and accommodating even though I didn’t book directly. When we went to our room it didn’t have a balcony so she very generously upgraded us to an incredible room with a beautiful view to watch the sunset. We will come back and recommend to all our friends! This was southern hospitality at its best! If I could give 10 stars I would! Thanks again Coleen and Denise and all the other wonderful staff members who made our stay special.

The property needs updates and improvements. The room I was in was run down, AC broken and made very loud noises cutting on. Did not cool enough.
