Reviews
The Russell is a unique, beautifully converted church that offers a boutique hotel experience in a quaint neighborhood in East Nashville. Guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfort, and design of the rooms, as well as the convenient location and easy parking. The hotel's mission to support the local community and homeless ministries is also highly appreciated.
- Unique, beautifully converted church building
- Clean, comfortable, and well-designed rooms
- No staff on-site (though communication is easy via text/email)
- Some rooms may have thin walls or lack windows
- 5/5
Those with mobility issues should be aware of the need to climb steps into the building and potentially to your room. Also, while there are signs to rooms, they’re a little hard to read at night and not at the entrance.
- 5/5
Love staying here so much! It's always been a wonderful experience when staying in Nashville. The beds are so comfy, the robes are fantastic and the room has many amenities and details that take the experience above and beyond. And the customer service has been top notch even though there is no on-site staff.
- 5/5
Great location in East Nashville. We were able to walk to bars, restaurants and shopping nearby. Hotel was beautiful. The free parking was convenient.
- 5/5
Awesome place. Would definitely stay here again and the fact they give part of the profits to help the homeless….makes it that much sweeter! Stay here! You won’t be disappointed!
- 5/5
This place is amazing! Will be staying here again!
- 4/5
It was Loud the door isn’t sealed well for sound - but before we left we found the earplugs - so that tells me they are aware of the situation the layout plan to help homeless is amazing and I loved this concept
- 4.5/5
This hotel is in a great location. Very walkable neighborhood with great restaurants and coffee places nearby. Also, it was so close to downtown Nashville and so much more affordable. Comfortable bed. We stayed on the third floor, and while all the steps didn't really bother us (no elevator) because of how the room was situated in the church, our room was kinda dark even though it had a skylight.
- 5/5
Very comfy beds, a different type of set up but highly recommended. Very clean modernized rooms.
- 2.5/5
The lobby. Very pretty stained glass windows Our room was so tiny. In the attic with no windows. Just a skylight looking into another attic. No natural light at all
- 5/5
Great place. A little quirky but we liked it a lot and would stay there again. And really loved that some our money to the hotel goes to non-profits working with the ungoused.
- 5/5
Property was beautiful! Easy access to town and all amenities were spot on. Would definitely stay again!
- 5/5
An incredible stay, in a gorgeous neighborhood, close to everything with plenty of parking. My room came with complementary snacks and champagne and I really loved trying out the Dyson fan and hair dryer! If I’m in Nashville again I would want to stay here again. I attended a show at the Basement East and it so close to the hotel.
- 4/5
No need to faff with check-in (a bonus when you just want to get in after a long flight) as all the details for accessing the hotel and room are sent before arrival. Very easy to follow, great communication from the hotel. Room was good for a quick stopover. I think cleanliness can be improved as some areas didn't look fresh. Pillows need replacing too as looked and felt very lumpy. We were lucky that the room had a seperate Dyson air unit that we could use as the wall mounted unit had mould along the flaps so we switched this off immediately. Lovely hotel, just a few improvements necessary to make it 5/5.
- 5/5
The vibe and location!
- 5/5
Excellent on site parking, exceptionally clean and everything you could possibly need. Staff was available and answered promptly with any questions. 100% will stay again
- 5/5
Loved the free parking! There wasn’t the usual hotel noise. Very quiet and peaceful place to rest. The beds were comfy and the shower was spacious. We will definitely stay there again.
- 4/5
Other than that, this was our second time to stay at the Russell and it was very nice. Oddly enough, our last stay was in the same room. The property is unique, very interesting and well suited for our purposes in the Nashville area. I'm sure we'll be back.
- 5/5
Easy parking. Character hotel in a good location
- 5/5
A Very beautiful place and great location. Extra stars for the free coffee and tea and the lobby environment.
- 4/5
The room was spacious and the bathroom had a great shower with luxurious towels. It was all fabulous.
- 4/5
Designated parking across from hotel is a plus. No parking fee. Walking distance to restaurants and Nissan stadium (1.3 miles). Close to downtown. Room we got has no windows. I think it’s my fault that I didn’t read description carefully. Dyson hair dryer in the room. I’ve been wanting to try it out. Feel save walking in the area.
- 5/5
No staff on site, no restaurant. But our room was spacious, well furnished and clean. Bathroom just fine. Good TV with streaming services available, which one sometimes doesn’t find in full-service hotels. No windows in our room, which sounds weird but wasn’t because of a large skylight in the ceiling (with an electronically retractable and opaque shade) that provided a view into a well lit vaulted ceiling above the third floor lobby. Located in good section of East Nashville where one can easily walk to numerous dining options. In short, it was cool. And secure. One is given access codes into the building and one’s room. We never felt insecure because of the absence of staff. And a representative of the property was very responsive by text to various questions. Highly recommend unless you need a restaurant, bar, fitness center, pool and staff on site. 5 out of 5.
- 5/5
Parking is right next door and convenient. The rooms have several thoughtful touches-sound machine, local chocolates, plush robes. The best part of The Russell is the location-great neighborhood to walk around and eateries nearby.
- 5/5
Great location in a walkable historic neighborhood. Room was quiet. Close enough to downtown to walk, if you don't mind walking on a busy street for a short bit. Nice room treats,
- 4/5
It was fairly close to Nissan Stadium and the photo booth. No elevator for people to get to the upper rooms (did have a luggage elevator though). My room only a skylight in the room that you couldn’t cover to block out the morning light when you’re sleeping. Also, it still looked and felt like you were in a church so it was weird trying to enjoy having a drink, etc.
- 5/5
Very unique and a good location. I liked everything.
- 5/5
The beautiful building and comfy beds and Photo Booth ♥️ Loved everything except maybe the 3 flights of stairs ?
- 5/5
Made top five of our list of favorite hotels in the country.
- 5/5
Marvelous and thoughtful interior design. Smart and empathetic costumer experience. Excellent location and a true sense of a one of a kind stay. Room was a bit small but cleverly designed to solve for that. Internet connection was a bit sketchy.
- 5/5
Incredible stay. Beautiful space. Very clean.
- 3.5/5
My bed didn't seem fully clean. It felt sandy/gritty when I first slid into it. I had to take the duvet off and brush the whole bed down with my hands before getting back in. I don't know, it could have been a weird fluke, but it made me feel a little uncomfy with the cleanliness. I also booked a skylight room and it was suprisingly dark. It made sense with the architecture of the building but was a little different than what I expected for a room labeled "skylight".
- 5/5
The Russell was one of the best stays I’ve had in a long time. This hotel was very thoughtful in every aspect. This is a hotel without front desk concierge but you could not even tell. The communicative signs around the building made navigating simple. Free local coffee in the lobby, Photo Booth to capture daily moments, and absolutely breathtaking stained glass. The thoughtful touches preserving the history of this building was so well done. The room was fantastic too. Spacious bathroom with nice amenities and the robes were absolutely necessary. My birthday weekend was greeted with a sweet note, a bottle of champagne, and local Nashville sweets. This hotel is also in a prime location where walking to hotspots like 5 points is only about 10 minutes. Coffee shops, bakeries, and great bars were about a 5 minute walk. All in all 5 out of 5 for The Russell.
- 5/5
This was a gem! I am so glad I found it.
- 5/5
Super easy parking and check-in. Really unique, cool property. Lots of amenities, free snacks and coffee, etc. Easy walking distance to great music and food. We'll absolutely be back at some point.
- 5/5
Such a cute hotel! Convenient location, easy check-in process, quick text and email responses from staff, comfy, unique rooms. Highly recommend!!
- 5/5
The Russell has been on my bucket list and I’m so happy to check it off the list! Incredible vibes. Beautiful spaces, great neighborhood. 10/10
- 5/5
Great location for a show at the Beast! Walkable to many great bars and restaurants.
- 5/5
Fun design in an unusual space, but comfortable and convenient
- 4.5/5
I loved how funky and colorful and unique it was! I would’ve liked to have stayed on an upper floor and not the ground floor. The grounds could’ve been a little nicer. We looked at a window to a bunch of cut up pipes. Also, couldn’t figure out how to get into the recording booth.
- 5/5
Highly recomended.
- 5/5
Yay! Best place ever!
- 5/5
Safe neighborhood.
- 5/5
Rooms were exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel was in a quiet neighborhood and only 8 minutes away from broadway street. Also had its own Parking so parking wasn’t an issue.
- 5/5
Excellent location and one of the most beautiful boutique properties I’ve ever stayed (and I’ve stayed in many). Our concierge, Hannah was beyond accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we had the best stay possible. We will definitely stay here anytime we are in Nashville. It was also a bonus knowing that a portion of the proceeds from our hotel bill were being donating back to community. I’d give this property even more stars if I could.
- 5/5
Avery was incredibly responsive and accommodating from start to finish, which made everything feel seamless and welcoming. The thoughtful touches truly elevated the stay—the snacks, koozies, plush bathrobes, and overall amenities far exceeded my expectations. Parking was easy and felt very secure, which is always a huge plus. The location was also super convenient—within walking distance to a few great restaurants, and only about a $5 Lyft ride to Broadway, making it easy to enjoy everything Nashville has to offer without the hassle. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
- 5/5
Safe neighborhood, easy self parking across the street, very comfortable beds, and cozy room. Surpassed my expectations. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
All the facilities were good, the room was well laid out and spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. We liked the location and even without staff on site, it worked seamlessly. It was a great place for our family of four to stay!
- 5/5
Completely self managed technologically advanced marvel. Unique and memorable. Self accessed free storage lockers were a godsend. Easy walk to the bus stop and quick $3 ride to Downtown. Interactive HD TV, hundreds of channels. If ever wanting to see a band at Basement East again would book at the Russell in a heartbeat.
- 5/5
Such a great location and amazingly comfortable beds.
- 5/5
Felt like staying in an art museum. Loved it
- 5/5
Such a fun hotel! It’s a church that is converted into a hotel and loved it. The snacks and champagne made my trip and will absolutely stay there again.
- 5/5
Testsrant
- 5/5
Parking included across the street. Loved The Russell. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in that area. Close by to restaurants. Beautiful lobby to hangout. There was a filtered water and ice machine on each floor with a microwave. Bottled water and snacks provided in the room with a coffee machine. Coffee and tea available in the lobby. We did notice that grab bars are needed in the shower for safety reasons.
- 5/5
The hotel itself was amazing. They did a great job with the decorations and set up. It is clean and has great amenities. Free coffee stand, and they provided the room with a couple of great local snacks and a couple of water bottles. I strongly recommend the Russell hotel. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit. Plus there is a parking lot for the hotel so parking is not an issue.
- 4.5/5
Great location for East Nashville concerts! We drive in from Memphis and typically stay here so we can walk over to Basement East for a show. The room we were in needed a little refresh/ update and was smaller room than we stayed in before but was listed as same room type as previous stay.
- 5/5
Unique, comfortable, easy-access
- 3.5/5
Didn’t realize there was no concierge or staff on property when booking — it was a beautiful space but a little dystopian
- 5/5
It's a gorgeous property. It's very comfortable with al the amenities you'd want - a great shower, a great bed. All good.
- 5/5
I enjoyed the easy access to my room, the complimentary bottle of champagne was a nice gesture, and smart tv was a nice way to relax with my favorite shows.
- 5/5
This place was amazing!!! I would recommend to anyone that needs to get away by themselves or with their significant other. I’m definitely staying here again!
- 5/5
So many Great Surprises!! Fabulous mission, fabulous experience! Comfortable, great vibe, wonderful staff. Free parking, nice room, fun commons.funcommonareas.
- 5/5
We had a great overnight stay at the Russell. The building is BEAUTIFUL! The area is very walkable with several restaurants, cocktail bars, and entertainment venues a block away. The room was lovely and very comfortable. The champagne choice was excellent! Thank you so much for the welcome gift. We will definitely be returning!
- 5/5
My check in experience was only complicated by booking.com. I think I got 12 emails or texts from them before checking in. I finally just called The Russell so I could stop trying to find the right information in an email somewhere. It was complicated and ...a bit stressful to try to find the right email with the information that I needed at check-in time. See above. Too many emails / texts!!
- 5/5
Great location. Walkable to great shops and restaurants
- 4/5
Cool design and good location in East Nashville. There is no staff. Cool concept, but in practice you need trash collection. Garbage cans in the stairwells were overflowing the entire weekend we were there with guests' trash that they took out of their rooms. There is single-use plastic water bottles in the rooms, but there is a filtered water tap downstairs. I wish they provided reusable water bottles and mugs for coffee/tea. We stayed on the 2nd floor and could hear upstairs guests footsteps. I'd recommend only staying on the top floor.

Beautiful hotel in a great location

Everything Nothing
- 5/5
Awesome location, really stunning building. We will be back for sure!
- 5/5
Great location, the contactless system worked smoothly, staff quickly responsive via text, thoughtfully laid out room that included a sound machine and a hot and cool bladeless fan. Our stay was quiet and comfortable. They even have a cute Photo Booth. The building is beautiful. And we love that it’s not part of a large hotel chain and that part of the cost goes to local homeless ministries.
- 5/5
Beautiful property built in an d church with stunning stain glass windows. Very clean and quiet. Easy free parking across the street. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
The sheets, towels, and robes were spotless. It was the cleanest place Ive ever stayed in. The treats and wine in the room were a nice special touch. Also it was so convenient to have an ice maker and water machine right down the hall.
- 5/5
Church as they give back to the community! I think the property was fine
- 5/5
Very unique property (use to be a church) that was very well kept. My room was clean and had many nice amenities. The neighborhood was calm with restaurants and dive bars walking distance.
- 5/5
This hotel was so thoughtful! It had everything I could have needed and is so beautifully curated.
- 5/5
Absolutely incredible experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Nashville. We will be back and staying at The Russell again, without hesitation. Stunning! 100/10!!
- 5/5
Unique hotel. Very clean, comfy beds, appreciated the bottles of water and wine. Parking was simple and the keypads worked flawlessly. Highly recommend a stay here!
- 5/5
Great spot in East Nashville! Easy, convenient and clean. Would stay again and recommend highly!
- 5/5
The building inside and out was beautiful!!!! Everything was so clean and thought out . The best was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on . The experience of booking , checking in and out and everything was so easy !!! Def a must stay !
- 5/5
This place is awesome. We've stayed here a couple of times and it is always clean, quiet, and SO COMFORTABLE. The beds are awesome. Good water pressure. We're typically in town for events at Basement East so the location is prime. We love The Russell and book for almost every trip to Nashville.
- 5/5
This hotel was lovely! We loved the location, the sitting area with the beautiful stained glass windows, and our room was clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.
- 4/5
Clean room. Parking is an unsecured lot, so my truck was broken into. Apparently not first after talking with cleaning employee.
- 5/5
What a find! Loved the vibe and the bottle of prosecco!
- 5/5
Clean room. Very cozy.
- 5/5
Parking was easy, and the place is gorgeous and clean
- 5/5
Stunning! I loved the stained glass windows and the skylight! The goodies in the room were awesome as well!!
- 5/5
The hotel (a former church) is breathtaking with stained-glass windows and nods to country music’s most iconic stars (hi, pop-art Dolly). Check-in and out were easy, convenient, and seamless. I loved being able to brew a cup of coffee before heading out to the airport or on my way to explore the city. My room—an interior king—was perfectly appointed with complimentary snacks, waters, and even cute koozies. There were plenty of outlets and USB ports to charge my phone and battery banks, an easy-to-use air/heat unit, plus a Dyson fan and a noise machine to help me sleep. The dimmable and ambient-friendly lighting let me set the mood when I woke up, settled in for the night, or relaxed. The bathroom was huge—and, honestly, the Dyson hair-dryer sealed my five-star review—and made getting ready in the morning even faster and easier. The hotel is walkable to some of East Nashville’s finest restaurants, coffee spots, and shopping, and nestled into the most adorable brick-lined neighborhood that I suggest you explore. And getting to the airport and downtown was a breeze. I can’t wait to come back and explore other rooms and see more of Music City while staying here.
- 5/5
The room was clean it had snacks and water bottles which I appreciate. The neighborhood was low key and had a couple of bars and restaurants around. The rooms also had robes which is a nice touch. Tea and coffee are available downstairs and the hallway had a water station and microwave available. Most things you need for a pleasant stay are available. The only limitations are that parking hours are limited due to residential permits and rooms are not cleaned daily. It was odd not having any staff onsite, but if you are used to staying at air bnbs you probably won't mind. It is an interesting building with nice decor. Guests weren't loud so I didn't experience issues with noise. It would be nice if there were a hot tub, but you can't have everything.
- 5/5
This is the cutest place! Check in was the easiest process and everything you could possibly need is on site or in the room. I love love love that they do outreach in the community with some of the proceeds which made me choose this place. Everything is decorated so perfectly and fun and everything was super clean!! Only one note-If you cannot do stairs, make sure your room is on the first floor. There are no elevators. We knew this so it wasn't a problem for us.
- 5/5
Beautiful clean rooms in a great location. Love the historic building and all the unique character of this hotel. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
What a wonderful hotel! Definitely will be my go to when traveling to Nashville from now on.
- 5/5
Amazing place! It gives back to the community on top of being a fantastic place to rest your head. Soft robes, sheets and pillows, great shower and cute design throughout. Would highly recommend and I will stay again. Loved it! 5 stars.
- 5/5
Gorgeous, clean and a great location!
- 5/5
I love that this hotel is unique and conveniently located. Thoughtful touches that have made me a repeat guest. Whether you’re in town for a game, a concert, or business, I highly suggest The Russell.
- 5/5
So unique and amazing! Beautiful, clean, safe, great parking, and lots of attention to detail. We may never stay anywhere else in Nashville :)
- 4/5
Great location, clean, good coffee bar. Think it is overpriced for value
- 5/5
Great location with restaurants and bars nearby. On site free parking was a plus! Clean rooms and felt like we had the whole facility to ourselves. Highly recommend this location.
- 5/5
great stay! will be back!
- 5/5
Loved the building, room, and neighborhood!
- 4/5
Place was very cool. But bookings a sky light room, you expecte the sky light to look out side like the rest. Not the interior ceiling of the church.
- 5/5
We loved our one night stay at The Russell. Beautiful neighborhood and we were able to walk to dinner and then our show at Basement East. Complimentary snacks and waters!! Dyson hair dryer! Easy checkin and great communication. Recommend!
- 5/5
Such a cute spot! Enjoyed our short stay! Loved it and would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property as in old church. Room was super spacious and comfortable. Recommend highly as by staying there you also help the homeless.
- 5/5
Super cool converted church - great East Nashville location. Comfy bed and great hot shower. No checkin desk or staff per se on site but everything super easy and user friendly. Remote check in - key codes emailed for entry. Felt very safe. Very clean. Hope to stay again.
- 5/5
Excellent value. Nice area. Comfortable room. Great communication with management. Quiet and beautiful room with high quality amenities. Included parking is absolutely amazing, considering the options available in the city. Would love to stay here again.
- 5/5
The Russell was beautiful, clean, they had complimentary snacks and water, I appreciated the Dyson hairdryer (fabulous for thick hair). The bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend staying here. Nice historic neighborhood, quiet.
- 5/5
It was awesome 10/10
- 5/5
It is an amazing and wonderfully unique location.
- 5/5
This was one of my favorite places ever. It’s so comforting and cool. Great place to hang out and relax. Room was awesome. Only thing missing is a patio or deck area. We will definitely be back.
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Rooms are small, and there is no service to replace towels or tidy up room.
- 5/5
Absolutely loved our stay. So unique. Well decorated. Would stay again
- 5/5
Loved
- 4/5
There really is no staff at The Russell. No concierge, no continental breakfast, etc. Since there are plenty of restaurants nearby, it's not that big of a deal, but just keep that in mind. The bed was pretty comfortable, especially compared to the "boards with a blanket" beds of the normal hotel chains. I stayed in room 1:6, and I found that there isn't enough counter space to put things. They should add a table inside the door or something like that.
- 5/5
Just an awesome building inside and out
- 5/5
Really awesome property within walking distance of plenty of entertainment.
- 5/5
The room was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. I appreciated the comfortable bed, modern amenities, and little details like the local artwork and the convenient self check-in process. It all felt seamless and stress-free. The East Nashville location was perfect—close to cool restaurants, coffee shops, and a quick ride to downtown. I honestly didn’t want to leave! I’d highly recommend The Russell to anyone looking for a one-of-a-kind stay in Nashville with a purpose. Can’t wait to return!
- 5/5
Exceptional property and rooms. Check in was by text and you receive a door code to enter the hotel and separate code for your room. The communications were top shelf.
- 5/5
My stay at the Russell has been very enjoyable. A beautiful renovated church with stained glass in the lobby makes for a gorgeous backdrop! The staff, although not on site, is very accommodating and truly want you to enjoy your stay to the full! Next time I’m in Nashville, I will definitely stay here again!!
- 5/5
East Nashville neighborhood is much less frenzied than Broadway, which is only a $10 Uber ride.
- 5/5
I love the fact that this hotel helps the homeless. It is a very unique hotel. Very pretty. Our third floor sky light room was cute, a little tight but still very nice. Wish I would have known there was no elevator and that we were on the third floor, I would have requested a ground or second floor room. It was nice, however, that they do have an elevator for your luggage. That helped! Also the complimentary champagne and snacks and water were a very nice touch!
- 5/5
So far so good
- 5/5
This hotel is located in a quaint neighborhood that is close to shops & restaurants. It still has the beautiful church stain glass windows with modern decor. We also, enjoyed the snacks & water provided.
- 4/5
Easily the best shampoo conditioner and body wash of any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Very unique hotel and awesome location/ dining options. If you have a bad meal in this area, your taster is off. I think the only drawback was that they allowed kids. I’m a family person, but this hotel shouldn’t allow small children. The walls were paper thin and you could hear kids running up and down the halls/ playing with the luggage elevator
- 5/5
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Luggage elevator was down but even that didn’t change my five star review. Such a cool vibe to this place!
- 5/5
Great place! Everything was just as described. The staff we delt with were very helpful and responsive to our messages. The area seemed safe. There were a lot of things to do within walking distance. Will definitely try to stay here again!!!
- 5/5
Had to book and emergency stay for extra night due to concert change. The Russell was great. It was very charming and the process very easy. No human interaction was necessary.
- 5/5
Headboard was a church pew Loved it My wife suggested they need a makeup mirror in the bathroom We will probably stay here again
- 5/5
Good location (5-10 mins driving to downtown) and cool building (looks like renovate the old cathedral) prompt response to text message before/during stay!!
- 4/5
Everything was good except a ticking noise coming from our AC unit. Sounded like a phone vibrating every 5 minutes.
- 3/5
I have been to The Russel before. It’s really unique and beautiful. The only downfall was that I thought the room was going to be bigger. Other wise it’s a really wonderful place.
- 5/5
Very unique, clean, and quiet. Comfortable bed, beautiful bath, easy checking in and out. Communication with this property was easy, informative, with quick response time. Great place and Will definitely use again!
- 5/5
Unique property with fun decor. Love their mission of giving back to the community. While they do not have an elevator, they have a luggage lift that was very helpful.
- 5/5
Second day. Loved it once again. Some of the rooms have no windows so make sure you inquire about that. Booking online is very convenient and each of the rooms available are listed with photos that are very accurate. The space is beautiful beyond words. The customer service is top-notch. Although you check yourself in with codes, the customer service is available 24 seven by text. Which is very convenient. They will honor late checkouts an early check-in if it’s available. They are dog friendly for service pets. If you are looking for a very simple, clean and convenient place to stay with clean and quiet accommodations, this is 100% worth looking into. They provide coffee and tea and water and even have microwave ovens, etc. vending machine quiet spaces books…
- 5/5
My second time staying here. It’s so unique and wonderful.
- 5/5
Everything is so simple and clean and lovely. The customer service was very impressive as they were just a text away or a phone call if you needed. The free bottle of wine was a really sweet touch and they have water in the room and a few treats as well. There is a TV in a refrigerator very small but it worked for me and there is a very roomy shower. Highly recommend the Russell. This is my second trip out to the Russell.
- 5/5
The building was unique and interesting
- 4/5
It was an interesting experience: an eclectic hotel in an ex-church — managed from "afar" (remotely, via code numbers, internet communications, etc.)
- 5/5
This was the comfiest bed of our whole trip and close to great restaurants and bars. Very hip neighborhood and the hotel had such good charm and great coffee in the lobby for the morning.
- 5/5
Even before we arrived, the hotel was great with communication, reaching out via text and email with parking instructions and the code, which was helpful since they don't have a concierge. Check-in was smooth and easy. I also appreciated the relaxed atmosphere in the lobby with people just hanging out. The decor of the hotel is really unique and vibrant, with pops of color and interesting artwork. My son and I were excited to get settled in and explore. Our room was just right for the two of us, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The complimentary snacks and drinks were a lovely and welcome addition. The hotel had a really calm and quiet atmosphere, and every staff member we encountered was kind. The little extras, like the photo booth and the complimentary coffee with their branded cups, added to the experience. Overall, our stay at The Russell was wonderful. It felt good to know that our stay was also contributing to something positive.
- 5/5
This hotel was converted from a church so you can see a lot of its past in the design/architecture. The stained glass windows in the lobby are beautiful. Modern and spacious, each room is different in size and color/design. Not far from downtown Nash and in a good neighborhood with food options.
- 3/5
This place is a way to experience modern dystopia in its fullest. A former community house of worship and celebration turned into a building with pretty glass and nice enough rooms, but devoid of all humanity. It is operated by electronic locks and security cameras. Beware the panhandlers and thieves you may encounter in the parking lot. Both were present on the night I was there.
- 5/5
Everything was great! The layout and attention to detail was outstanding!
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
This was a nice stay, beautiful and interesting building. We never saw or heard any other people during our stay. Our room had a skylight to a skylight. There was a window in the ceiling of our room that opened up to the larger room where you could see out of the roof skylight. A little odd, but otherwise there would have been zero windows or natural light in the room. There was a remote control where it could be closed as well. Seems overall like a nice area, but our Lyft driver told us someone had recently been mugged nearby. We never felt unsafe, but it's good to keep in mind. There is parking across the street that we utilized with no issues. Fairly close to a lot of restaurants and bars, but I didn't want to walk it at night. Comfortable bed! Enjoyable stay for an overnight.

If you are in Nashville and looking for something different and designed - The Russell is your place. Plus, the neighborhood is so cool with things to do (coffee places, restaurants, etc.)

Got text messages about everything and had no issues with getting into the building or our room. The room itself was amazing. My wife was on crutches after a surgery and needed to be on the first floor and we loved the room. She had no problems getting in and out of the building with the ADA ramp and it was just an amazing experience. Will definitely stay there again the next time we are in Nashville.

Blown away when i walked in the photos don't do it justice. Cool history and place to stay.

The Russell is a super short walk to The Basement East where we saw some music so this was terrifically convenient for us. The church is beautiful and our room, albeit quite small and snug, was quiet. We will stay again when/if we are ever back in the area.

The quiet facility is relaxing. A true sanctuary.

Awesome hotel! Very unique, contactless check in and free parking on site. Hotel is within walking distance of restaurants. This is my 6th time staying. My go to hotel close to everything but far enough away.

Comfortable accommodations, friendly staff. an elevator would have been helpful.

Wonderful experience and I would go back for sure! The check in was easy, as in nothing to do! Just use the codes they give you! Complimentary snacks and water in the room. The hotel is nice and has stained glass windows that are beautiful. 10/10. Can’t wait to go back when I’m in Nashville again.

Unsafe, dark and creepy

Lovely old structure masterfully turned into a sweet hotel. Art abounds, high ceilings, stained glass, modern luxuries, comfortable and hip. All the good stuff. Just a short walk down a charming street to the heart of East Nashville. Seeking to avoid the madness of downtown? Stay at the Russell!

The BEST! I only wish that every single hotel experience could be this amazing. The church was gorgeous and there was so much attention to detail, ensuring the comfort of the guest. Communication was phenomenal, the bedding was superb, and the welcome basket was such a splendid touch! I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay at The Russell. I will definitely be staying here again. Also...did I mention their mission...amazing!!! Hands down the best place to stay in Nashville.

The hotel is really awesome. My family and I were on our way back from a Florida beach vaca and wanted to stop at a fun hotel on the way home. This option came up and we were really shocked how cool it was. The room had ample space for a five person family and the overall vibe of the hotel was great.

The perfect stay.

An absolute fabulous stay! The building is easy to access & parking is impeccable. There is a luggage lift for 2nd floor rooms & the first floor rooms, where I stayed, were all quiet & well maintained. My room, a deluxe king, had picturesque garden view & very comfortable bedding. The shower was clean & well designed. Looking forward to my next visit.

We were in town for a concert and the Russell was the perfect base for us to land after a very busy travel day :-). Super clean hotel, and very quiet.

What a beautiful place to stay. Quaint neighborhood, free parking and a percentage of our stay goes to help people in the community. Rooms were clean, beds comfy and coffee available on demand in the lobby. We will definitely stay again.

The bedding was comfortable, the shower had great pressure, and the whole hotel was very clean and comfortable. It's centrally located in East Nashville to be able to walk to a lot of locations. We rented a car but would have been able to do without. Overall would recommend, and i hope we get to come back and enjoy it again.
- 5/5
Such a unique experience. Very neat and clean, I will be back! And the mission, amazing!
- 5/5
Everything about this place far exceeded all expectations. It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and we wished we didn’t have to leave it. Want to come back and would highly recommend to anyone staying in Nashville.

Very cool experience! Chuch turned into a boutique hotel. Loved it! When I first exited the interstate and approached the area, I was a little hesitant. Wasn’t sure it was such a safe area. But the area surrounding the hotel was very nice. The parking lot across the street was well lit. Cameras in place too. Traveling alone on this trip, I felt safe bringing my luggage across the street. Once inside, the layout and decor is very cool. My room was spacious. Loved the use of the church pew and stained glass windows. There were so many extras that made the stay even better. Also ideal… I had dinner at the butcher and bee, which is right down the street. It was a good stay!

Friend recommended we stay at The Russell for our three-night holiday in town and it was a great choice. The shared space is top-notch, comfortable, and easy to navigate. Our room had a comfortable bed, was quiet at night, and roomy shower. We'd be happy to come back next time in Nashville.

The hotel was so unique and felt high class. It was very welcoming.
- 5/5
No staff on property but that is okay.
- 5/5
We loved the design and vibe. The ability to leave luggage locked and pick up extended our enjoyment of the city. The East Nashville restaurant/bar scene was an excellent contrast to the crazy SoBro mess. We liked that the owners support the community with the money we pay to stay.
- 5/5
Beautifully furnished and great vibe. Nice bedding and accessories plus champagne. Loved it!
- 5/5
We strongly recommend staying here!

The Russell was a perfect place for a long getaway weekend! The location was unbeatable and was close to downtown Nashville and other hot spots. The hotel is very clean and the staff also made the effort to text me while I was there to make sure everything was okay. The next time we decide to take a trip here, this will be my first choice. Thank you again!!

Lovely building and neighborhood. Pretty lobby and large room and bathroom. They were able to be reached by phone until 5, not after.
