Reviews
The Thompson hotel is a modern and stylish property in a prime location with helpful staff and great restaurant options. However, guests have expressed disappointment with hidden fees, parking costs, and some aspects of the rooms such as size, comfort, and cleanliness.
- Modern and stylish hotel
- Great location with walkable dining and shopping options
- Hidden fees and expensive parking
- Small and uncomfortable rooms with damaged furniture

The hotel was amazing. From check in to check out the experience was great. The staff were excellent. Location was perfect! Food in Marsh House was great as was the bar LA Jackson on the roof and coffee in lobby at Killebrew's. Filtered water the hallways for all - first time I've ever experienced that!! No complaints as all.

Nice staff. Great room. Unfortunately the odor in the lobby is almost unbearable and it lingers into your room. We switched hotels after two nights

Overall the hotel was lovely and we had a great night's sleep with no issues. The location in the Gulch neighborhood is fantastic and makes it easy to explore the city. The hotel advertises a rooftop bar as an amenity, but at check-in, we were told it "gets long lines" and were directed to just use the lobby bar instead. That feels like false advertising. There is also no pool, which feels like a significant oversight for a hotel in a city like Nashville. On top of that, there is no outdoor space for guests at all. When the rooftop bar is closed, guests cannot access the roof, even just to sit and relax. At the very least, the hotel should allow guests up there with a book, even if the bar itself is not in service.

- 5/5
The rooms were clean and comfy, the bed was cozy, and housekeeping was very prompt. We also found the staff to be friendly and the elevators to be pretty quick. My only complaint is that on our last night they seemed to turn off the AC because a cold snap came through. However, being cold outside doesn’t mean it’s cold inside, so our room got too warm. Other than that we’d definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
It’s gorgeous. High end and in The Gulch - an upscale neighborhood. Only valet or public parking but the valets were truly amazing guys. Ice is in plastic bags and easy on the floor we stayed on. Filtered water. Wonderful bar in the room. Awesome view. Easy walking stance to roadway bars and nightlife as well as the country music hall of fame - definitely worth the tour cost and the visit. Very high end shopping and excellent restaurants nearby. The Dove Daughters bakery was so good but get there early they sell out. Really nothing to complain about at all. Only that don’t expect to access your car. There is no hotel parking only valet.
- 5/5
Clean room and attentive service! Great amenities.
- 5/5
The room was perfect, and the staff was wonderful.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel is very clean and has a comfortable and laid back atmosphere. The coffee shop, bar and restaurant were very good. My family and friends will be staying there again.

- 5/5
Excellent! Friendly
- 5/5
The room was clean and the bathroom was spacious. The coffee shop in the lobby was excellent. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional! The beds were very firm. They were too firm for our taste and our back!
- 5/5
Amazing !
- 5/5
that my room was not ready until 5:30
- 5/5
beautiful property. this will be my go-to anytime i’m in nashville. staff at the front desk was nice but not as friendly or warm as hotel staff usually is
- 5/5
Rooftop bar was a great convenient perk. Small walk to the broadway strip was also a plus.
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Had a great time! Excellent location for everything we wanted to see and do!
- 5/5
Staff was very friendly and always helpful. They went above and beyond at all times from the moment we arrived with the doorman, the bellman and the receptionist to the time we departed. In addition, the staff at the restaurant was also friendly and the breakfast was amazing! Their biscuits and their cinnamon roll in a skillet were delicious.
- 5/5
Bed and the service was great
- 5/5
We love this hotel! Perfect location and perfect experience!
- 4/5
Only thing I didn't like was all the bachlorettes and the noise and running in halls. I was on the third floor and road noise was loud on occasion but these are all things that the hotel couldn't control.
- 5/5
Clean and great location. Very friendly staff Nothing
- 5/5
Loved the pitchers and water stations on each floor. The valet was well staffed with friendly informative staff. The front desk staff was also friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 5/5
Staff was very helpful and friendly. The area was great love the rooftop bar. I will stay again.
- 5/5
Unique boutique hotel - no public parking, and not enough staging in front of the hotels for valet
- 5/5
Loved It
- 5/5
Kick off the day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
Stayed in a pet friendly room and the carpet in the hallways was dirty and the rug in the room was dirty. Floor did not look clean either. I understand it was a pet floor but, maybe remove all carpet. I have stayed in lesser pet friendly rooms that were far cleaner.
- 1/5
Very loud young crowd lots of open drunk kids language just not a good spot for me if your 20 to 28byour spot
- 4/5
Excellent hotel but pricey and the beds are tiny
- 5/5
beautiful property
- 5/5
Front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
Beautiful room and bathroom design/decor was exceptional. Great location, loved the rooftop bar. More of a food selection at the restaurant.
- 3/5
Everything is VERY pricy! No store or gift shop for basic needs should you forget something. I feel like this property caters to young adults, but that may be just Nashville as a whole. The line to get coffee in the morning was out the door. Wouldn’t choose to stay here when returning to Nashville. Would choose a hotel outside of the downtown area, with more space in the lobby area to find a quiet spot to read or chill on my vacay.
- 3/5
We proceed to check in and four staff members at the front desk. No pleasantries or basic customer service. I noticed immediately that the male front desk staff shot a look and chuckle to the staff that assisted us. It’s obvious it had to do with us. There were no one other customers checking in. The aesthetics of the room was very industrial and west elm. Our room was a city view with double beds. The room had a heavy musk/cologne smell. It was either the bedding detergent or a potpourri to set a mood. It was overwhelming. The rug had stains, glass cups were dirty and room was dusty. Leaving was the same service as arriving. The shower was the best amenity of the hotel.
- 4/5
the pillows were terrible and they charged me for a beverage out of the room when I never had a beverage from the room we had 2 bags of chips no drinks.
- 4/5
Have stayed her many times. Great Location. Good staff everywhere except front desk.
- 5/5
Nice location and structure. I met my wife on the hotel rooftop so it will always have a special place in my heart.
- 4/5
The day of check-out, housekeeping knocked on the door three times between the hours of 9:00AM and 10:30AM. BTW, no swimming pool.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, we really enjoyed the roof top bar !
- 5/5
Friendly, clean and efficient
- 5/5
Extraordinary staff
- 5/5
Excellent Service
- 2/5
The rooms were clean and they have a very nice shower. We didn’t go to the bar because of the children. Good location. The beds are like rocks, and sheets are scratchy. The bellman was aggravated because we brought our own luggage upstairs (I guess he wanted a tip) for $400 a night I was underwhelmed.
- 5/5
All good 👍
- 5/5
Awesome
- 5/5
Great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms. I was not eligible for rewards points because I booked through a 3rd party. Over $1200 and no credit for the stay.
- 3/5
No drawers for clothes, no hooks to hang clothes, towels and no fan in the bathroom
- 5/5
Staff was great, close to everything. Great location. Quiet at bed time with no outside noise
- 5/5
Tyler at the front desk was very informative, professional and friendly. The view from our room was impeccable at night. Amenities were great as well. No pool.
- 1/5
I would look into hotels like the W as they have nicer rooms and much friendly front desk staff.
- 4.5/5
very rowdy crowd, some people were loud and drunk in the main areas and hallways on the weekend
- 3/5
If you’re looking for a family friendly hotel, this is definitely not it. Still waiting for an invoice from my stay, which I have requested twice. Location is great and valet was very quick.
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful & relaxing stay! Will return!
- 5/5
Amazing team at the front desk and concierge team. Huge shout out to Paris and Megan for their hospitality!
- 5/5
Amazing stay. Customer service is awesome! Gym is awesome! Water stations and glass karafe in the room is awesome! Peloton bikes (2), Peloton rower, lovely gym with an urban view, spring water. Just wish the spring water was in glass bottles. Right now, plastic with no recycling. Wish their bath amenities didn’t have color and was like rest of the ambiance. Overall, awesome stay. Looking to see glass bottles for spring water and organic/eco bath amenities. We’ll be back.
- 3/5
My room was dated .
- 5/5
Great stay
- 5/5
It was an absolutely wonderful stay at the Thompson. Anytime we are back in the Nashville area we will be staying at the Thompson for sure.
- 5/5
Good.
- 4/5
Coffee shop in the lobby was nice but again staff was not very friendly or welcoming. Filling stations of water were convenient during cold and dry weather. Nice touch of Prosecco for NYE was appreciated. Rooftop was cool but closed early, before 2:00am, on NYE after people paid entrance fee to attend.
- 5/5
Outstanding.
- 5/5
The property is beautiful and everyone is very friendly. Check in/out quick, valet speedy rooms were very nice and the entire hotel smells divine! I will certainly stay here again. We walked to dinner, breakfast and broadway from the hotel.
- 5/5
Place was clean. Staff was friendly and informative. Rooftop bar was fun. Location was great.
- 5/5
Great location! Great property. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
The Thompson is one of my Nashville go-to options. The staff is always so friendly, plus I love the rooms, the restaurants, and even the bath products =)
- 4/5
Nice hotel. But not a great value for the price. Had to ask to have our room freshened up. Staff was average
- 5/5
A perfect spot in town but not in the middle of the noise.
- 5/5
I will return . Lovely hotel and great area
- 5/5
Lovely room with great amenities in a very good location.
- 5/5
I love that you didn't have to leave the property to have a great time. The rooftop bar and restaurant on the first floor is amazing!
- 2/5
Had to pay an additional $180 for an occupancy fee when arrived and $60 for overnight parking.
- 5/5
The blonde (younger) girl at the front desk on Wed night around 7pm was unfriendly and seemed annoyed by us asking for our commentary glass of champagne. She embarrassed us and didn’t care. Rude!
- 5/5
The room was just spacious enough and the amenities were great. I highly recommend this property.

- 4/5
Location is excellent!
- 2/5
THE ONLY THING THAT I DID NOT LIKE WAS THAT I HAD TO PAY SOMETHING EXTRA WHEN I HAD PAID EVERYTHING UP FRONT. IT WAS 125.00 EXTRA. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS CHARGE UNTIL CHECK IN TIME.
- 4/5
Close to where I needed to be
- 5/5
I had a great experience
- 3/5
Loved it but expensive for what it is. Biggest rip off was $220 for 4 hour late check out!!
- 5/5
The hotel was modern and the restaurant options were great.
- 5/5
I had a lovely stay here - the staff was helpful and kind and its in a perfect location. thanks!
- 5/5
Love the modern style and the location. Parking garage right across the street. Everything u need is within walking distance.
- 5/5
Located in nice neighborhood, plenty of walkable dining and shopping options nearby, within short driving distance to broadway and downtown.
- 2/5
Bathroom has one small sink with very little countertop space. One small mirror and low lighting. Overall for the price not worth the stay. Rooftop bar is great, however not owned by the hotel. Disappointed with this property.
- 4/5
Enjoyable stay overall.
- 4/5
My stay at the Thompson was great, however, i was incredibly disappointed in how uncomfortable the bed was. I'f i'm paying $600 for a room, the bed better be top notch. Instead it felt like a dorm room bed. Stiff with zero comfort.
- 4/5
The only negative comment was the housekeeping could be more diligent. Dirty glasses were not changed during room cleaning and shower rug not left. I will say when notifying front desk it was quickly rectified. One bonus with this property is they provide bagged ice and have still and sparkling water stations on each floor.
- 5/5
Fantastic decor, walkable to downtown whilst being quiet at night. Great coffee downstairs
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
Great location and property.
- 5/5
Nice and clean room! Helpful staff!
- 5/5
Place was nice and clean. Beds where not the most comfortable and pillows small but nice place to stay
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay at the Thompson. Our only complaint is that it was too short. Next time we will stay longer.
- 5/5
Rooms are nice and spacious. The coffee shop and bar/'restaruant downstairs are also great. The location in the Gulch is quiet, but with access to several local stores, and only a short drive to the major tourist areas.
- 5/5
The bars and restaurants were good and unique. All the staff was excellent throughout the property. The area was walkable with a variety of places to visit.
- 5/5
The hotel was phenomenal! Marsh House was outstanding! Our room was spotless and we loved the ice and sparkling water provided! Everyone was friendly and helpful! Be aware that it is 54$ a night for the valet parking. Excellent stay over Christmas
- 5/5
Great food, friendly staff, luxurious rooms. Beds are a little harder than I’d prefer.
- 4/5
great customer service
- 5/5
was the location. We wanted to go to the Station Inn and it was directly behind the Thompson-in fact we could look down on the top of it from our room. We loved the Thompson! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the restaurant was wonderful, the location was convenient to restaurants and about a 20 minute walk to Broadway. The room was clean and comfortable, we even had nice robes and house shoes. We loved the water filler that was conveniently located next to the elevator with chilled water or sparkling water and bags of ice ready to take to our room. Even though the coffee shop downstairs was convenient and offered a good selection-we missed having a coffee pot in our room. We are planning a trip back in May and we will stay at the Thompson again.
- 5/5
Awesome all around
- 5/5
Much nicer than the price would have you believe. I actually would pick this over the four seasons or the St. Regis
- 5/5
Staff was extremely pleasant. Loved the restaurant and coffee shop.
- 5/5
Very lovely hotel. Comfy and well decorated rooms. The staff as friendly and super helpful with questions. We didn’t have dinner at the Marsh House on sight, but enjoyed some cocktails at the bar and the rooftop bar as well. The rooftop bar has a very YOUNG vibe. If you’re looking for a more relaxed drinking environment- that’s really not the place for you. I imagine that it is more chill during off hours or weeknights. Overall, this hotel was wonderful! I fully recommend it!
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 5/5
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The room was very comfortable and the hotel is situated in a great location, close to all that Nashville has to offer. The Marsh House restaurant at the hotel had excellent cuisine and great ambience. I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Unfortunately we were there during a busy weekend(George Strait and Chris Stapleton) and rates were increased 4 fold ....(price gouging) it was not worth $980 a night when the the traditional rates the day before and after and the following weekend for the same room were easily under $300. But it seems all hotels were doing the same thing ... kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth
- 5/5
Great staff. Yummy breakfast at Marsh. Comfortable room. Convenient area.
- 5/5
Great location and staff. Only knock--would be nice to have had coffee maker in the room.
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Nice room. Great location. Nice to have apps and drinks at LA Jackson before heading out. Looking forward to a return visit.
- 3/5
No ice makers, no coffee maker in the room, didn’t leave bath mat or clean wash clothes after service, parking charge when we didn’t have our car there ( they did remove when I called) it’s a nice clean and safe hotel but at $600/night should be exceptional!
- 5/5
Stay was amazing! From front desk to the restaurant staff, everyone was helpful and friendly
- 3/5
The hop on hop off tour is 2 min walk . The front desk staff was v nice . Bellman was kind of useless and hardly ever there for assistance . Worst part was the cleaning crew . When we came back to the room after the whole day , bed was barely made , shreds were rumpled and comforter just thrown and smoothed over , Dirty disposable glasses were there with leftover morning coffee along with dirty napkins , the bath robe was still on the chair … it was a disaster ..expect much better from a 4 star property with such expensive room rates . Stayed at grand Hyatt previous 2 nights .. amazing service , food .and cleanliness ..10/10 in everything .
- 5/5
Great location, walkable to most of the attractions that people come to Nashville to experience.
- 1/5
This is a very trendy hotel but for not worth the value. There is a popular rooftop which you can hear from the room in the evening till midnight. People who are not staying in the hotel are coming in and out at all hours. Also there is a restaurant/ bar across the street which you can also hear music as well. In the morning got woken up at 7 am by noisy street. Towels were ripped. Took 45 min to get a bell hop. Overall very expensive with 3 star service. Very disappointed.
