The hotel is praised for its prime location near Central Park and public transit, as well as its friendly staff, particularly Stephanie. However, guests frequently complain about the small size of the rooms, cleanliness issues, and a slow, single elevator serving the entire building.

Complete misrepresentation by way of description and photos. This is a one star at best. The room was so tiny and oddly shaped. Barely could fit in the shower and water was lukewarm. Wyndham should be honest with its photos. Location and staff were good on one positive note, but this hotel needs to be refurbished.

The staff was helpful and friendly. When our scheduled cab didn't show up, the front desk called a car service that quickly arrived. The breakfast is adequate but could use more than one fruit. The hotel is clean, but some carpet areas have bleach stains. Overall, a good stay and good location.

The location is great but the hotel is in much needed help. The hall carpets are worn and have several of what looks like bleach marks, the toilet seat did not fit the toilet, the door to the bathroom hits the toilet and you have to squish yourself around it to get to said toilet, not sure the last time the windows were cleaned, etc. the would not check you in until 3PM….period. They didn’t check to see if a room might be available. There was a significant line because of this. Would have been nice maybe even courteous to check people in then tell them to leave their luggage and come back but no, there literally was no one there until 3PM and there was no sign letting you know what was going on except one that said the person stepped away and would be right back. That sign indicates someone went to the bathroom for a couple of minutes, not that folks needed to wait for hours. Some waited several hours.

I arrived before check in hoping to be able to leave my bag in a secure location if my room was not ready (check in was at 3 - I had a ticket for a 3 pm show at Lincoln Center). I have traveled extensively and have arrived early in many places. The usual process has been that my info including a credit card was taken, my bag was stored in a secure location and I was given a bag check. No info was taken and I was instructed to leave my bag in an open area in the lobby just inside the front door with three tall windows on the street. No bag check was given but I was told staff would be there the whole time. When I arrived at 1600 to check in, there was nobody at the desk and the area was open to anybody. After waiting, I called the phone # for the hotel twice. It rang for a long time but no one answered and there was no way to leave a message. Finally a staff person came from the back of the hotel. This is COMPLETELY INADEQUATE SECURITY for my belongings. Generally the staff was rude and unhelpful. The bathroom door in the lobby did not close properly and the security lock on my room did not work (an alternate method of securing the door was available. I would never stay here again and would certainly not recommend this place.

Staff was very nice Location great Great coffee Wyndom needs to refurbish the LaQuinta --the awning outside did not clearly mark the hotel. That is lazy. Lots of off colors stains in carpeting leading to room. We only asked for towels the first 2 nights. The last two days no one cleaned room or left towels. The shower faucet fell off. The toilet did not flush properly.

The staff was very helpful. Room was very small. Bathroom very small. it is an old building. It appeared clean but just was uncomfortable and looked dingy. It was very expensive for what it was. Prices in NYC are ridiculous. Only stayed for 36 hours to see a few things and then flew home. Could not afford a longer stay. Breakfast was nothing special or appetizing just what could easily put out and clean up.

You get what you pay for. I didn’t spend a lot on this room, but booked because the location is amazing! The room was tired, the outlet in the lamp was broken, the purple walls were fingerprinted…I was glad to only be there two nights. But the sheets and towels were CLEAN! Again, location was key. Staff was super nice. I just expected a less worn hotel. Would I stay there again? Probably, because the price and location…but, had to leave an honest review.

This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. I booked because it was wyndom. La Quintas are always good. Not this one. Tiny, tiny rooms. The bathroom is so little you literally have nowhere to even lay a toothbrush. The sink was falling off the wall. Windows were filthy. Black mold growing in the shower. Key card didn't work. Locked out of our room for 45 minutes waiting on maintenance man. Tv had 'no signal'. The staff was very friendly, but we won't be staying there again!

Negatives: Where do I begin? If it wasn’t the hotel room from Hell, It was surely three nights in Purgatory. In the first room we were given, the dresser drawers did not stay closed (an accident waiting to happen) and the bathroom door wouldn’t latch closed (Cave men had more privacy) so they gave us another room, marginally better at best. Our room for 3 nights was cleaned once-last day there. No hangers (none!) in cramped closet provided, no hook on bathroom door. If you want drinking water you have to get it from faucet/sink — or buy bottled water. The bathroom sink sits partly over toilet-SAFETY HAZARD!! The sink/toilet proximity made it necessary for one to perform an advanced Yoga twist just to sit on the potty. Who designed this nightmare?? The old but functional AC would have been satisfactory if it didn’t sound like a lawnmower every third cycle. 0ur total bill with taxes/fees came to $1165. Basically, your paying for location.

My experience at this hotel was very poor. The motion-sensor lights in the room repeatedly turned on throughout the night without reason, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The lights stayed on more than they were off, which was extremely frustrating and disruptive. For the price paid, I expected a much more comfortable and restful experience. I would not recommend this hotel unless this issue is resolved.

It was awful, dirty and dingy, the room was soooo small you cold barely turn around in it. The entire bathroom was the size of a bathroom stall at the airport. I’m so disappointed and it makes me sick that booking.com has this hotel on its site and they charged $440 for the night! It was awful, the only good thing were the friendly staff but let me tell you, if I worked in a dump like this, I wouldn’t be that friendly so extra extra kudos to them. It was dirty and definitely not worth 1/2 of the $440 we paid for one night!!!

Location is excellent. Staff was nice, but there's a limit to how helpful they can be. Many suitcases hanging out in the lobby until check-in at 3:00 p.m., or, the next day, after checkout at noon. It would be kind of nice if there were a more secure situation, but it was okay. The room was adequate. I think that was kind of included in what I wrote above.

The bed was very comfortable and clean and the hotel is in a great neighborhood right near Central Park. Staff was very welcoming and did what they could while dealing with a corporate chain management who apparently does not care about acceptable hotel standards. Maintenance persons came quickly when things broke (e.g. the toilet) and the hotel brought us a surge protector since there were not enough outlets in the room. The air conditioner worked although it was noisy. This is a hotel badly in need of renovation, and at at $300/ night once city and state taxes are added, was not a bargain. The surfaces (floors, furniture) were generally quite clean, but there was grime all around the edges of everything in the rooms, and in the elevator. The room was tiny with one minuscule closet and no dressers for our clothes. The windows were quite dirty, with window shades tattered around the edges, and peeling walls and ceiling in the bathroom. The hallway carpets on every floor were grossly stained, although there were no bad smells so I think they were clean, but it took some getting used to. One very small elevator for all of the guests and for staff and maintenance as well. Some trash and piles of dirty towels were left outside the elevator in the afternoons. On your way to dinner, if you are lucky enough to squeeze into the elevator, you may be riding along with staff and the trash and dirty linens. Some younger guests just took to the stairs even for higher floors. Staff reports that renovations are underway, but I would recommend waiting a few years as the pace appears very slow indeed.

The location was the only positive thing here. Apart from that, horrible hotel to stay in. The staff were extremely rude and shouted on us multiple times. They accused customers of various things and listened to no requests. - They served Pork and Egg on the same vessel and when we requested to just give us some Egg separately in a bowl, they created a furore and shouted at us. They very clearly said that “ We are in their country so should adjust to their eating habits” - The breakfast frankly was insipid. Though the bill claims that prices are inclusive of breakfast, they kept saying that it’s complimentary and so we should eat outside if we have problems. - The rooms were broken and in a pitiable state. Toileteries were insufficient and when asked to replenish were never listened to - 2 out of the 3 plug points broken and not fixed (pic attached) - Lock hatch almost coming out (pic attached) - Unclean windows (pic attached) - Though we booked the hotel believing in the Wyndham brand since we have used their premises in the past, this is nowhere near a Wyndham hotel and this should be immediately unregistered from the brand

When I arrived they down graded my room as there was a leak to our original king room. On the 2nd and 3rd day of our stay there was wall scraping sounds and hammering by the headboard. When I called downstairs they said they were aware of the noise as they are refurbishing the room next to ours. I asked why they didn’t advise me or not assign that room. She replied with a snarling remark of, “that’s what they do. They remodel rooms!” No apology or suggestion to move rooms. The weekend day stay was less than stellar. The night staff was amazing. Customer service is key to a lot. Although I realize hotels are transactional I also hope they understand that we book a nights rest and day relaxation. I was very disappointed at their customer service at certain points of the day.

The staff members we interacted with were kind and polite, which I truly appreciated. However, when we went to pick up our luggage, there was nobody supervising the front area, meaning literally anyone could have walked away with our belongings. That felt very careless and unsafe. The facilities felt poorly maintained and outdated, and the mattresses were extremely worn out and uncomfortable, which made it difficult to rest properly. One of the worst design choices was installing a motion-sensor light switch inside the room. The light would turn on every 10 minutes during the night, constantly waking us up and interrupting our sleep. The elevator was also extremely small and looked neglected, which is surprising considering the large number of guests the hotel accommodates. The only real positives I can mention are the affordable price and the fact that breakfast was included. The breakfast area was clean, and while there was not a huge variety of options, there was enough food available and it was decent overall.

Overall Rating: 1/5 Stars Our family stay at this Upper West Side property near Central Park was an absolute nightmare. This hotel is poorly maintained, physically unsafe, and completely lacking basic hospitality. The Room & Safety Issues: Filth: The mattress was heavily stained, and there were visible food stains splattered on the walls. Safety Hazards: The electrical outlets were corroded. The bed frame was actually installed backward, causing me to painfully collide with it twice, leaving my foot severely bruised. Missing Essentials: The room was completely missing a door, and the closet had no hanging rod. Broken Amenities: Climate & Water: The air conditioner barely functioned, leaving the room stuffy. The shower water never got hot, making comfortable bathing impossible. No Toiletries: The hotel failed to provide standard showering amenities. Food & Customer Service: The Food: Absolutely terrible. My children normally eat anything without complaint, but even they could not stomach the meals here. Management: Zero flexibility or empathy. We had to extend our stay by a single day due to circumstances, and management refused to waive any fees or offer any goodwill discounts despite the horrific condition of our room. Avoid this place at all costs. The location near Central Park is not worth the filth, the injuries, and the abysmal service.

The bathroom door didn’t lock, and the paint was peeling. Both the bedroom and hallway carpets were stained. The people at the front desk didn't have much experience; we asked for a taxi service to the airport, and they said it cost $65, but in the end, they said that wasn't the rate and it was $95. We ultimately opted for Uber because it was a variable rate and they charged inside the car, which didn't give us much confidence. We ordered food, and they never notified us that the food had arrived at the front desk

locaton The room was tiny and beat up and didn't smell fresh. For the price (close to $350) is was a rip off. The bed was jammed into the corner, supported on an old, rectangular bed frame, and tilted toward the dresser and TV which was about 4" from the edge of the bed. The table lamp was falling apart and the tiny bathroom door was about 1.5 to 2 ft from the end of the bed. The 'window' was completely taken up by an air conditioner and 'looked out' on a brick tunnel about 2 ft from the 'window'. Awful, dark, and again, a rip off.

This place is disgusting. The bed had bugs, the air conditioner filter was dirty, there was dust everywhere, and the bed was horrible. I had to cancel the reservation on the same day as soon as I saw the room because my son had an allergic reaction to the bug. I don’t recommend this place at all.

The hotel itself feels worn down. Only one elevator was working and it was extremely slow. The room was small, typical NYC style, but the carpet was frayed and dusty, walls looked dingy or possibly water stained, and the blinds near the bathroom had a line of holes running through them. The bathroom was very outdated with visible wear on the tub. Positives: the bedding and towels appeared clean, AC worked well, lighting was good, plenty of outlets, amenities were stocked, and surprisingly the room was quiet enough to get a decent night’s sleep. Parking is something to plan ahead for because there is no on-site parking. Street parking is extremely difficult in that area. We booked a nearby garage through SpotHero, which I highly recommend because garages fill up quickly. Also make sure you check garage hours and overnight access rules before parking. Best part of the hotel is definitely the location. It’s steps from Central Park and near Strawberry Fields for John Lennon fans. There are also a lot of hidden restaurants nearby. We ate at a charming Italian restaurant called Canto.

The carpet in the first room that we were asigned was soaking wet in water, coming from the bathroom. The second room was a little better, but over all, the hotel was very dirty. The location is the only aspect that is very good. The overall cleanliness of the building is something to improve. All the carpets were either wet and soaking or dirty with food, dust and sand.

Room condition old, carpet ripped up in the corner very dirty. One of the blinds on the window had holes. Walls stained. One elevator and we were in a room on the 12th floor, the elevator very slow. We took the stairs going down but not going up. The bathtub crusted dirt with rust stains around the drain. We arrived 15mins early and the receptionist looking down at the computer telling us we will do check in in a 15 minutes. There were some other guests waiting as well. The clock on the wall said 3:00pm, but it was actually 2:57pm and I was again turned away. Customer services very poor, upon check in. Check out and breakfast staff much more pleasant.

Staff was super friendly. Our room was the tiniest I've ever experienced but you can tell they use the space they have to give us what we need as guests. Location is great. Near a lot of restaurants and the park. My only real complaint is their motion detection lights in the room and bathroom. Maybe it's me and I couldn't figure out how to keep the lights off or there is actually no way to keep the lights completely off, but it was a pain in the butt to move at night and the lights would come on. I would stay here again if it wasn't for those motion detection lights.

I was not expecting much given the reviews and the price I paid (I visited in April). The room was decently clean, nice staff and the included breakfast was acceptable for my standards. Pro: - Perfect location near central park and metro station - Nice staff - Good size for the King sized room with big windows and a lot of light. - Breakfast included Cons: - They got some bleach stains in the corridor carpets. - The elevator is kinda slow - Some dust in the drawers and a few stains here and there. Overall I was satisfied. It's for sure not a five-star hotel, but for the price, the location and the staff it was good. I will definitely come back.

The television was mounted on the wall with chords hanging beneath it in disarray and the box to the TV was just hanging on the top of the television. The window screen was peeling off the window. When I read the reviews for this hotel, I was a bit worried about what it would be like. While the room was expensive at $287 per night and fairly small, we are glad we stayed there. The Executive room has a king size bed, a bedside table, a desk (with 3 drawers that could be used for clothing), one rolling chair, and 2 small closets with 4 hangers in each. The bathroom is small but everything worked fine (it had a nice shower). The carpet could have used a cleaning and the AC unit was really struggling to keep the room cool on an 80 degree day, but the bed was clean and comfortable. I would have loved to have one more chair (even a folding chair) so that one of us didn't have to sit on the bed. The huge attraction of this hotel is that it is 1/2 block away from the west side of Central Park and one block away from the 72nd subway station. Walking across Central Park to go to the Art Museums was great (we walked miles every day) and walking to the American Museum of Natural History was around 10 minutes (the same with Lincoln Center in the other direction). Tons of restaurants surround this area and a grocery & a laundromat are 1/2 block away. Breakfast was fine - nothing fancy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 9 nights & really got to know the neighborhood (which is lovely). If you want a fancy hotel, this isn't it - but it was perfect for what we needed and the price wasn't insane (for Manhattan).

that I could not move to from a queen to a small room for one day. and jennifer the clerk told me that she could not call or email booking because she did not have an email or a phone to request a change of a room. that is big total lie. she told me to have to move out of the hotel or ordering a new room???? and loosing the reservation SHe said that i could not be transfered to another room and that cost me $270 plus for not beeing abled to be accommodated for by jennifer, then I had to go to another hotel that cost me another 2005, plus i had to move and pay uber and tips uselessly, in the amount of $600. All that was because jennifer told me that she could NOT get in touch with booking by email or by phone and that i had to loose the money that my son paid, that he recserved by mistake for the smaller room that is not acceptable and also fraud. I should be reimbursed for the room that jennifer could not accommodate me and i had to move out , that caused me and my son $600 plus wasted a day. and a lot of money. there is one elevator, for 92 tenants????and it takes a lot of time to get into my room i did not like the jennifer action that she could not get in touch ith boolig to transfer the room from a small room to my present room 401 queen size.' that is fraud and not acceptable. is like stealing moneys

We had requested early check in and they said they never actually approve those. I said I got an email saying we were good to check in at 11 but they said no anyway and told us to come back at 3. I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. From the moment I checked in, I clearly requested that the invoice be issued to my company. The staff verbally agreed at check-in, and the same request was later confirmed in writing through the messaging system on Booking.com. Despite this, when I checked out the front desk employee issued the invoice in my personal name. When I reminded her that the hotel had already agreed—both verbally and in writing—to issue the invoice to my company, she told me she could not change it. She then walked away from the front desk and was gone for about 10 minutes while I waited there trying to resolve the situation. When she returned and I again asked about correcting the invoice, her attitude became aggressive and the discussion escalated unnecessarily. I was told to leave the hotel and security was called. I have the entire interaction recorded. After leaving, I contacted the property through email and through the Booking messaging system. In those messages the property again confirmed that they would issue the correct invoice. However, more than two weeks have now passed and the invoice has still not been corrected. I also attempted to resolve the issue by phone. During one of those calls, the person at the front desk stated that it was not them sending messages through their Booking account, which I found quite surreal given that the written confirmations about the invoice were sent there. On several other occasions my calls were simply hung up when I explained the issue. Regarding the room itself: it was acceptable but not particularly clean. The windows were very dusty and the room felt quite cold during my stay. The bathroom was fine and hot water was available. The biggest problem here is not the room but the handling of a very simple administrative request and the way the situation was managed. The hotel agreed multiple times—in person and in writing—to issue the invoice correctly, yet this has still not been done.

No amenities except a snack machine. Shower is not a shower it's just a spray attachment I never figured out. Lobby and floors are unkempt and even the canopy outside is frayed and unreadable. Called front desk a few times and never got an answer. It is close to the park but you can cab it to the park from anywhere so that's not a reason to stay there. Restaurants are all high end, no place for casual dining and no good breakfast joints.

The worst stay I’ve ever had at a hotel! Trust the bad reviews!! I was booked for 2 nights but left early after the first. We were visiting our daughter and thought we would give it a try after she thought it was in a good area. I got the room around 4 because I wanted to make sure it was decent. Then didn’t come back until late with my wife. Room kind of cold and I could feel wind through the drapes. Heater was loud then about every 30 minutes or so sounded like a nut was banging around in it for 2 or 3 minutes…louder than someone banging on your door. My wife had to put in earplugs trying to sleep… very little. Then once morning came I would the a mouse had eaten through a bag of M&Ms I had on the dresser right next to where they put our extra towels… yuk!! That mouse had to be close to do that in the few hours we were “sleeping”. Then to top it off, my wife was going to take a shower and the rusty water came pouring out. I could stay there again so immediately checked out that morning… room 307. I showed the girl at front desk the pictures and she was sympathetic but couldn’t do anything. This hotel is just dirty !! I received no sort of refund for the 2nd night so it shows what kind of management and ownership they have. No wonder this building is pest infested and run down! Would never stay here again. I hate writing bad reviews and usually just don’t if I have less than good stay… but folks need to know just how bad this hotel is!! Sincerely unsatisfied travelers!!

Location and night staff were the best thing about the hotel. The night staff were attentive and very nice. Can't say the same about the girl manning the front desk and the woman who yelled at guest to clear out the breakfast room. The bedroom was sufficient, but I had concerns about what looked like mold in the bathroom ceiling and walls. The window unit was not working, so no heat. On my first night I was startled awake on my first night by the sound of a rat rummaging through the trash can. When I turned the light on, it jumped out and ran across the bed. It was extremely unsettling and I had trouble sleeping for the rest of the stay. I don’t feel like I got the experience I paid for because I was very on edge for the entire stay due to the incident and could not relax. The staff at La Quinta were the best part of the stay. The hotel physical environment was dingy and decrepit. Our room had what looked like blood or ketchup stains on the wall under the television, there were holes in the walls and plastered up parts in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom tub drain was slow so when showering, the water did not go down quickly, nor did the water drain properly in the bathroom sink. In the second night, we had no heat in the room and it was 8 degrees outside with the wind chill factor. We had to sit in the lobby because we were too cold to stay in our room. The air conditioner/heating unit only blew cool air. We were told we would not be charged for the second night but have yet to receive a refund.

Later that evening, after asking twice about the pillows, I returned to the front desk and was told they were out of pillows. At that time, we were again told someone would be sent to fix the phone. Unfortunately, no one ever came to repair it during our entire five-day stay. Additionally, the front desk associate seemed more focused on talking with a friend than assisting us. For the nearly $2,000 we spent, we expected a much nicer experience. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. We showed up to check in and they informed us that they overbooked and no longer had a room for 3 available. They suggested we cancel and find somewhere else to stay with no offer of assistance. It was the hotel’s fault, they over booked, and it became our problem. We were then 2 hours late to the event we were here to attend because we had to find a new place to stay. I am appalled by this hotel and will never stay at a Wyndham again. Housekeeping: Supposed to be every other day, but nothing was done even after five days. I had to insist strongly to get service. Towels: Only bath towels were provided. Initially there were washcloths, but later only a bath mat. Never received face towels, though the hotel confirmed they had them. Tissues: An empty box was left and never refilled. I had to ask the front desk. Toilet Paper: Not replenished even when housekeeping came. A kind staff member later brought two rolls upon request. Shampoo: Not refilled unless I asked directly during cleaning. Coffee: Three packs were provided at check-in, but never replaced afterward. Amenities: A refrigerator was listed but not in the room. They brought one after I requested it, but due to limited outlets, I had to unplug the TV to use it. Drawer: One drawer was broken and kept sliding open by itself. Elevator: Only one, and it frequently broke down, forcing many guests to use the stairs. The Good Points Breakfast: Quite good for a free meal, though fruit, bagels, and bottled water were available only once or twice a week. Front Desk Staff: All were friendly and helpful. Night Staff: Brought toilet paper late at night when the elevator was out of order, climbing up to the 5th floor—very kind. Location: Excellent—close to Central Park and the subway. Ideal for the NYC Marathon, though breakfast started too late (7 a.m.) on race day.

Stayed for two nights and the elevator didn’t work 95% of the time. It would randomly get stuck on a floor causing us to have to take the stairs up/down to our 11th floor room the entire weekend. Bathroom was so small you have to dodge the sink to sit on the toilet. One family member had to walk down the 11 flights of stairs to use the lobby’s restroom because it was too hard for them to dodge the sink to sit on the toilet. Window in the room was filthy and hair was found on the floor of our shower. Prepaid for the room, but was randomly charged $76 in taxes and fees after check out.

This hotel had no decency to give us a room with sunken mattress with torn carpet, no bedside light. The toilet bowl has metal scratched mark, the closet missing a door. The drawer cannot close properly. Breakfast is the only decent thing during our stay.

The property features only one elevator servicing all eleven floors, which appears to be quite outdated. During my stay, it frequently became inoperable—often getting stuck on the 11th floor—forcing guests to use the stairs to access their rooms. Additionally, the lobby lacks air conditioning, creating an uncomfortably warm environment. Overall, I found the property to be misrepresented in its advertising, as the listed amenities and conditions did not accurately reflect the guest experience. I would like a refund.

The rooms were small, but efficient. The staff was helpful. The night shift receptionist for 10/18 was amazing. The evening shift for 10/15 misinformed us about daily housekeeping service, and it was disappointing when we arrived and the room was not flipped by them on two nights in a row; we would have been ok with NOT having daily service, but it was mentioned at check in so we were pretty excited for it. The following morning (8am 10/17) we requested service and it was promised to get done, and again, it was not done. Other than that, we were very pleased with the stay.

This was officially the tiniest hotel room I have ever staid at. As you walk into the room, the single bed that my daughter used was right at the door. And the door opened not as to cover that bed for at least the minimal privacy, no, it opened right to "expose it". There was the smallest 'walkway' between the bed and the wall, leading to the area for the "main" bed, which in-turn had barely enough space for my wife and I to get by and get on/into the bed. As family of three, we would usually use the bathroom to change - my daughter is almost 14 and it is a requirement... well, when I walked into the bathroom and the front of my body touched the sink, which was strait in front of the door, the closing door touched the back of my body. I had to step to the only "half-step" available between the sink and the toilet to even close the door. There was NO room whatsoever between the sink and the shower, which was wet, so there was no room of any kind at all. I had to ask my daughter to step outside of our room into the hallway for me to change my cloths before our "main event" for which we've come to the city. The furniture in the room, the beds and the bedding were... 'OK' at best, there was no mini-fridge at all, or any other amenities, and the elevator took at least 4-to-5 attempts to start on the way up.... but it had at least 3 things going for it! LOCATION IS amazing! breakfast was very acceptable (not the best, far from worst) and water pressure in the shower was great.

The hotel is in a dreadful state of repair. Door handles falling off, walls dirty and full of dents/cracks. Only supplied one towel for 2 people; blanket was too short for the bed. Rooms are tiny. Sink is so small you can't really wash your face. Elevator was not functioning for part of stay. Do not stay here. The staff however was very polite and doing their best in an awful situation. Plus we are disputing a significant unauthorized charge.

I understand that the way this building is doesn't allow for large rooms. However they could have done MUCH better with the money they charge. The good: Walking distance to Central Park. Breakfast included and not bad. The not good: No room service unless you request it (at least for a 2-night stay). Elevator (only 1 small one) almost always stuck somewhere and sometimes not working at all. Upon arrival and leaving we hauledour luggage 4 stories. Staff is helpful but the management has to pick up the slack. Netflix didn't work. If you ask for a fridge they'll bring you one. They should 1. Fix the elevator 2. Repaint and decorate these small rooms BY chic 3. Fix Netflix 4. Add a coffee maker to each room 5. Have something ready in the fridge/freezer to warm up for those who leave early (beakfast) since breakfast is included 6. Add one more reception person. This is a 14-storey hotel with just 1 person. As we were leaving the reception attendant apologized for the elevator not working

Arrived early after requesting early check in, was told by a fairly rude person we weren’t approved after we thought we paid. The room was ridiculously small, you couldn’t get into the bathroom without touching the television set. The light on the night table kept blinking on and off, seemingly a loose connection. The faucet in the bathroom sink was so loose we were afraid to use it. This is not to say the room wasn’t clean, because it was, and the location was excellent.

The room smelled like a dead corpse. I had my partner and dog with me and we had to literally shimmy around the corners of the room to get from one side of the room to the other. Next morning told clerk I needed room made-up and drain cleared. Didn't happen. No towels, no drain cleared, nothing! They claimed you needed to request it, but duh, I did! My daughters room smelled so bad she asked to have it changed 1st night. Nothing available. Second night, nothing available. Finally, before last night of three-night stay, they made her move out of the room so they could "clean it" and gave her another room! Last day in lobby we started booking an Uber to LGA. Desk clerk said they worked with a limo service, $65 to LGA. At LGA driver asks for $82.50!!! No caffeinated coffee in room or at Breakfast. Ask at desk, "there is a delivery tomorrow". Next day, SSDD. Consider Subway or bench in Central Park before you choose to stay here!

Hotel staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Local eateries were fair to good. However, remodeling of the hotel is still on-going. Room sizes are very small but not unexpected given the density of NYC and particularly the Upper West Side. We booked a "King, Executive" room which was worth it to us for our 5 night stay. Not fancy but the location and ease of access more than made up for it.

Location was perfect for us - beautiful tree lined street, close to Central spark, subway and places to eat. The interior of the hotel is a dump! Carpets in the halls old and dirty, ripped shades in our small room, elevator fickle-used stairs and we were on the 9th floor. Staff is nice. On arrival no tags for our bags, woke up Monday am - hotel didn’t have water - couldn’t flush the toilet. This was corrected in a few hours. Breakfast was adequate but no coffee. We got a great rate but see the rates is way higher now. Pictures are not true to live.

What I did mind was the rat running in my room at 1am. A RAT IN MY ROOM. At first they said there was nothing they could do. They were fully booked and didn’t have any exterminator or manager on call. The staff member couldn’t even come look in our room because they couldn’t leave the front desk. They were able to move us to another smaller room a few hours later, but only because there was a no-show. They had no backup plan for something like this and our choices would have been to stay in rat room or go find another place to stay at 2am. No one from management has contacted me about this. The only thing that has been done is the third time I asked the front desk staff about getting in contact with management, they waived my “resort” fee. It was a great location, but I think a rodent free room outweighs that benefit. I didn’t get a picture of the rat in our room because I am terrified of rodents, but here is one of two dead rats we saw outside the hotel, along with many live ones scurrying around.

“This hotel was absolutely horrible. It smelled bad everywhere, there were even rats in the breakfast area, and they only cleaned the room every three days. Our bedroom was unbearably hot because the air conditioner didn’t work, there weren’t enough power outlets, and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. When we first entered the room, it hadn’t even been cleaned—there was trash under the bed. The space was small, suffocating, and disgusting. Breakfast was terrible, definitely not worth eating. The elevator was so slow that we had to use the stairs all the way from the 14th floor, which was exhausting. On top of that, the hotel is old, dirty, and ridiculously overpriced for what they offer. Every time we arrived, we found huge rats outside because there was always garbage piled up. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel to anyone—it was a nightmare.”🐀🐀🐀

The most unprofessional, rude, incompetent staff I've encountered anywhere. I alerted the staff, and got confirmation, that my room would be ready even though I would arrive late at night. When my flight was delayed 12 hours, it took 6-7 calls before hotel answered. When staff answered, I again received confirmation my room would be ready. When I arrived at hotel I was advised my room wasn't ready. I promptly asked for manager, and woman at front desk began her belligerence stance. Told me I couldn't talk to her manager, made poor excuses for room not being ready, couldn't tell me when it would be ready. She offered I could leave my luggage at unattended front desk while I waited for the room to be ready. After more than an hour of waiting I inquired again about the room, and again no response. I then demanded to speak to manager, and she then revealed she had manager contact info. I asked numerous times why the room wasn't ready but didn't get response. More than an hour after being told that my room was being cleaned, I asked exactly when it would be ready. Woman at front desk didn't know, wouldn't ask cleaning person. She made NO ATTEMPT to resolve situation. Then after the room was FINALLY ready, I thanked her (what for I don't know.). And 2 minutes after being given keys to the room, I got call from woman at front desk saying she cancelled my reservation, would issue refund, and I would be escorted out of hotel by police! That is NOT Customer service. AVOID this hotel!

We feel location was the best thing going for this hotel, which is why we booked it. I looked at reviews, but the value location was there and we booked it. Unfortunately, some of the things spoken about the reviews were still a problem. For example, the elevator that is something that needs Major attention. Major replacement repairs maintenance whatever it takes it didn’t work half the time we were there. it was awful. We were staying in the tough story to climb all those steps to our room. It is an ongoing problem based on the many bad reviews and things spoken about the elevator, and it’s such a problem that there was a paper taped to the wall next to the elevator the whole time we were there where there worked or not saying that they were having problems with it yet I never seen anyone working on it or at least when we were coming in and out of the lobby or trying to use the elevator. We tried the breakfast one morning and that’s all we needed to do to not go back to it. Things that were supposed to be hot or cold things that were supposed to be cold. Well just cool. Things were beyond basic. As far as the cleanliness of the room if I gave it a rating, not nasty, no hair or stains, but just not sharp and clean. We’re hoping for a very nice view from our 12th floor room, but the windows were too dirty for a good view. We were told room service only by request, but yet they came in one day with all our personal private items in the room that was unacceptable.

They dont vacuum the rooms or floors in the guest rooms Had 3 rooms for a week. Challenge everyday to get in to our rooms Would suggest a totall knock down and rebuild.

Location is really convenient with Central Park and subway within a block. Easy to get to most lines on the westside. The elevator is a little slow but they seem to know how to get it to work. Hot breakfast from 7-10 has potatoes, some type of egg and pork sausages or bacon. The wafflemaker is a nice touch. Cereal, toast etc. Coffee and Tea available all day which is nice. Breakfast area has a microwave.

Best thing about this hotel is the location, fantastic spot. The room we got was actually pretty spacious for a budget friendly NYC room. It was clean but dated. Biggest issue was the AC. Only a small window unit that could not keep up with the room. We had it set as low as it could go and still the room was pretty warm. Also another thing was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the bathroom window was forced open and unable to shut which likely contributes to the cooling issue. Hotel staff was friendly, the included breakfast was decent. All in all I would stay here again.

We love the location. The room was tiny. It has to be the smallest hotel room that I have stayed at. The bathroom was the size on a cruise ship bathroom. The bathroom was dated. The window ac unit was tiny and could not cool off a very small unit. We have to use my portable fan to help cool us off. The breakfast choices were not great. My wife could not heat up a bagel even though she heated up 4 times. However, the apple juice and the lemonade were great. The hotel only has one tiny elevator-the smallest elevator that I have ever been in. Overall, we will not stay here again and I cannot recommend this hotel.

Room was dirty; covered in hair and feces. Rude staff. I paid and checked in early on their website and included my id and credit card, they had no record of this, even though I had the confirmation email. Staff beat on our door at midnight our first night, until we answered and threw a pillow at us. I told them I didn’t ask for this, but they didn’t speak English and just said “yes” and walked away. Awful hotel/service.

Location was fantastic if you want to be out of the business. Conveniently located right off of Central Park as well. The room is small, and 2 people feels like a squeeze. Luckily it is a full bathroom. I wish there was some sort of mini fridge for beverages or leftovers. The room itself is really warm in the summer unless you have the AC running constantly.

Great location near Central Park and Columbus Avenue. The hotel itself has clean but otherwise grim rooms with no natural light and the smallest layout I've encountered in my many stays in NYC. The window AC unit blows directly on one of the beds, and the collective drone of all those units facing the light and air shaft is loud. We will not be returning.

I woke up to bed bugs crawling all over me. I brought the evidence of some to the front desk and they refunded my money. I left in the middle of the night and had to find a replacement hotel as well as a 24 hour laundromat. Truly horrible.

The good: Location location location, 5 minute walk to tons of restaurants and the subway entrance. Quiet, residential, safe. Room was clean, staff was helpful, free breakfast in NYC is hard to beat (though we hit up a ton of breakfast spots close to the hotel so we barely needed to enjoy it!) The bad: room was tiny, but it’s NYC so it was to be expected. Very glad I upgraded to the bigger room size. Well worth the breathing room. Having one elevator for the whole place was also kinda a bummer but I get it. If you’re worried about staying here, I’m telling you won’t regret it. Thanks to the staff for being helpful and cool, see ya next time :)

You need to update your pictures on your website for this property. The place was not clean & falling apart. Our bathroom was rusty, the AC unit leaked, the walls & carpet were stained in our room & it seemed every hallway. Paint was shipped/peeling off the walls. The ceiling of the room they serve breakfast had leaked foot he night before, the couched were duct taped together. The towel rack fell off & my husband had to put it back on. Seriously, take those picture of this property off your website, it is misleading. felt sorry for the girls at the front, they had dead with several customers that made a HUGE stink about the condition of their rooms.

Very small rooms. Unreliable housekeeping. All I could say is Steven the night man is the saving grace for our experience. He got our room cleaned, helped secure transportation always very respectful and professional. And the location is very nice. We’ve stayed here before and so we knew about the rooms being small. But there were bug bites from the ?pillow this time. Doubtful if our next stay will be here unfortunately.

I was not accustomed to staying at a hotel like that; the place was dirty, the staff was rude, I had holes in my bathroom door, the rooms were small and cramped and my air conditioner malfunctioned; the room that’s shown on the internet is not an accurate picture of how the place actually looks; the only positive aspect was the location; I will never stay there again; thank you

Although the rooms were clean, the corridors were dirty, and the place looks a lot more run down in real life than in the pictures. Lamination from the furniture is peeling off, fixtures in the bathroom were rusty and the carpets were stained. The bed and bathroom was clean. Breakfast is served on plastic cutlery.

This hotel just seemed like it hadn't been updated in years. The door to the bathroom was splintered on the bottom. The furniture looked beat up. I could barely fit in the bathroom by myself (although that's a very NYC hotel thing.) It was just okay for a one-night stay for one person.

There are 2 kinds of trips to NYC. You are coming for a deluxe vacay with spa treatments, shopping, musicals, etc. Then there are the stays where you just need a clean/safe place to sleep while you go explore the city. This La Quinta is perfect for the latter. I had one of the smallest rooms, but who cares? I literally used it for sleeping and bathing. The bathroom was spotless, great water pressure in the shower, comfortable bed and pillows, and it was 3 minutes from the main attraction for me, Central Park. The staff was very nice. I saw them yelled at by a number of people who apparently thought this was a more deluxe hotel. At $200 a night in this neighborhood, manage your expectations. The elevator is slow, the rooms aren't big, there isn't room service, but they have a friendly and helpful staff, the location is primo, and I felt safe as a solo female traveler. My only complaint was that the walls of the room and the doors looked like they needed a good scrubbing, but I would absolutely stay here again. Great location, great value.
