Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendly and helpful staff, and the convenient location. The breakfast is often highlighted as a positive aspect. However, some guests have issues with the condition of the rooms, such as peeling paint and wallpaper, and certain amenities like the shower and thermostat. Additionally, some guests have had negative experiences with parking and extra charges.

Then, upon arriving after a long road trip mind you, our room had a foul odor. It smelled like a moldy old mop. The room looked clean - but the smell was horrible. We were honestly too tired to deal with requesting a new room. But it was noticeable immediately, which leads to believe that the management doesn't check the rooms for quality assurance and/or doesn't care. Then I received a charge for parking, several days later - which I was not made aware of upon check in. So, a "surprise charge". When I called - the staff rudely pointed out that the information "is found on the website". It still would have been nice to know in advance when my card is being charged for something several days after check out. The breakfast is really good. And the housekeeping staff is really nice as well. I don't blame them for the awful smell in the room. Judging my the way the staff and customer service acts - I could only assume that the company itself is responsible; perhaps not supplying adequate supplies, new cleaning materials, not appropriately hiring vendors to clean the rooms/carpet in more drastic scenarios, etc

We checked into the room and found a live cockroach by the door. Called the front desk and requested a different room, which they provided. However,

CHECK IN STAFF WAS TERRIBLE. THE LAYOUT OF THIS PROPERTY IS COMPLEX. SHE MUBBLED, SPOKE VERY FAST, AND GAVE MINIMAL ASSITANTS
- 3/5
The room i booked was very large but exceptionally outdated. The sink was clogged and the room was dirty all over. When I checked in, I was told the hot tub was not working. Breakfast looked ok in the lobby but it was so busy I didn't bother. The staff was helpful-ish but didn't go above and beyond.

We always stay at Holiday Inn Express - consistent and always clean and comfy. just a block or two from a few nice restaurants... This location leaves a bit to be desired. The location is pretty sketchy - although it is old and shows it. could use an update.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, clean room, lots of guests, bright parking lot. Shower was either boiling hot or cold and water pressure was weak. AC was not good and again either too hot or too cold.

We enjoyed our stay at the Pasadena Holiday Inn Express. We were delighted to use the hot tub. The breakfast offered a great selection of food and the coffee was good! Would definitely stay here again.

I booked a king suite room but the sofa bed is broken and very uncomfortable.
- 5/5
The Suite was very nice, not to mention the bed was super comfy. The room was a little stale in smell needed airing out a bit in my opinion, other than that I have no complaints. My husband and I review hotels . We're both retired and we're comparing all of the hotels we've stayed in this past year up to now.,this was by far one of the best stays we've experienced so far, congratulations 🎊

The location, the bed was comfortable. The coffee was good. I’ve stayed at many holiday inns and I have to say this one was the worst out of all of them. The breakfast was lacking. The room was very small and the balcony door had no screen and no chairs outside to sit. The room was put together sloppily. There were no laundry bags.

I picked HI Express because of my last stay in Long Beach, CA. This location was no real comparison. When I pulled up the first night, there was an impromptu takeover on the street thale hotel is on. It took us 15 minutes to go from the corner of the location to the location, about 100 ft., because there were lowriders lined up and down the street, blocking the street, with many people just standing in the middle of the street. Because of that takeover the parking lot was also full. To make matters worse, the hotel parking lot is completely packed with old dead cars because the hotel has a deal with the car dealer across the street, and there's hardly any parking. The parking garage spots are also painted so narrow, my rental, a average sized sedan, could NOT properly fit in any of the spots, so the other guests and I couldnt possibly parke properly, reducing the number of parking spots in total. The interior of the hotel is very nice, and i like the breakfast. Our room was one of those 2 double bed rooms, which was fine, but it has the bathroom sink outside the bathroom, which is awkward and kind of gross. The shower was also much smaller than the Long Beach location, which isnt good for a big guy like me. Then theres the pool, which had trash in it by the deep side filter and entrance steps, so that was a no-go. I know the location isn't exactly fancy, but neither was Long Beach, and Long Beach was SO much nicer. I could've saved a few bucks and gone somewhere else.

Everything was perfect! From checking in to checking out everything was smooth and easy. They gave me an upgrade to the room, so I was able to stay in the renovated part of the building and it was lovely. I enjoyed how clean and close to everything the hotel was. That I couldn’t stay longer!

The room was nice and clean and so was the hotel. My only complaint is that the queen beds and not queens. It's more like a Twin XL. And the carpet had a slight smell to it. Not too offensive but not ok. Breakfast was great and the staff was nice

Upon arrival, we were given a room that someone was already staying in. We opened the door to find guests and their belongings and had to go back down stairs to find a different room. The second room reeked of cigarette smoke as did much of the floor. on our second night, the smoke alarm in the room started to go off every five minutes or so at 10:30pm when we were already in bed. When we called the front desk, they wanted us to identify the issue and then suggested we remove it and take out or replace the battery. seemed odd, but we did and it still beeped so we wrapped in a rtowel and left it in the hallway. Overall not a great exerience. not to mention the room itself was dingy and

Crying baby in the room next door. Huge Language Barrier with the Room Server. No diversity in the entire hotel. Won't be staying at that one again.

The shower head was horrible, it gave only but a sprinkle of water. The faucet was dripping all night. The beds were very uncomfortable. We happened to forget toothpaste so we called the front desk. They said to come down and they would provide, but when arrived to the front desk, they said they ran out. The breakfast was really good, that’s why I gave it one star.

In a safe area. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were spacious enough. Staff was friendly. We stayed here for the Rose bowl so we were here over new years. They opened breakfast early and gave us a goodie bag when we checked in with some festive attire and snacks. Was a nice stay.

Very responsive and the front desk attendant provided great service.

We needed a super late check in, I called ahead and the lady at the front desk was able to help me with that. When I arrived around midnight, the lady at the front desk was still helpful, even though it was late she had a great attitude. The breakfast was delicious, more than i expected, and good quality, well stocked by attentive staff.

The last thing I like to do is give bad reviews but I need to share. The smell that came out of the air conditioner was not pleasant. I believe it may have to do with the filter? Not sure why that smell exist but I just wanted to share. I also understand breakfast is complimentary but I certainly enjoy pancakes for breakfast at each of your hotels. To my misfortune, your pancakes were not available on this day.

Friendly and helpful front desk staff, very nice and quiet room, excellent breakfast, great and safe location.

Clean property and location, . Walkable for some dining options but not great for walkable food locations.

Our stay was great - no issues except that when my husband went to the front desk to check out this morning at 4:30am before his 7am flight, the front desk representative told him he was not allowed to check out before 11am because that is the check-out time.

Great price. Fairly quiet and the pool was very clean. Check-in at 4pm and check out by 11am was a great price for a quick family trip.

This is my second stay in 2 weeks. This time, we were not in the main building, but across the upstairs patio, above a restaurant and nail salon. NICE ROOMS!! It was quiet, very clean and very comfortable. Plenty of room for 3 even 4 people. Not cramped at all. Breakfast was again, very good. Nice hot breakfast - choices of scrambled eggs v cheese omelette, potatoes, sausage links v patties, oatmeal, cereal, various breads, juices and coffee. Add to this very nice customer service, this is absolutely one of my favorite stays in my years of travel. Don't let the parking lot fool you (there's quite a few Tesla charging stations); this is absolutely a 5* stay!

- 4/5
Overall our stay was pretty good. Very convenient location. A lot of food places nearby. Easy access on and off the freeway. Was able to check in late. Great variety of breakfast choices. The only downfall I would say is to many Tesla charging stations using all the parking spots up front. Was hard to find an open spot where our room was located.
- 3/5
Very slow check in. Also, needed to use key card 3 times to get in. Felt a little like a prisoner! Once in, very comfortable room.
- 5/5
Check in was easy, staff was very friendly and efficient. Parking was tight but more than enough spaces available. Good location for my family, safe & quiet. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay at this location again.
- 4/5
On the positive side, the bed itself was firm, but very comfortable, one of the best hotel beds I’ve ever slept on and the staff were really nice. Go on balance I’d give it a good very good.

There was some sort of a late night loud party on the property of the hotel causing issues with parking, quiet and sleeping. When the staff on Sunday were asked nothing was said to apologize or anything close to let me know that they were concerned or cared. Which made me feel that i spent my money and nobody cared or concerned about anything. Extremely disappointing in so many ways!!
- 1/5
The cleaning people stole my bag of old and collectible money worth maybe over $100,000! Then for almost six months lied and said they had no clue what I was talking about but then when I called to find out where my deposit was and how long until I got it back they miraculously found my money bag!!! Of course there were a few select missing items the most expensive and most valuable items! Unbelievable

Minor things - Breakfast on Christmas Day was slim pickings by 9:00am, probably due to reduced staff. On Christmas Eve, the housekeeping staff in the hallways were talking loudly from 12noon thru 3pm so daytime napping was not possible here. In the evenings, it was very quiet and nice.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel in Pasadena, CA, is easily one of the best hotels I have ever been to. It may not be the biggest hotel I’ve been too, but certainly one of the best, and it had everything I needed. The staff were incredibly kind and very helpful. They have a pool, a hot tub and a fitness room there. My room was very nice, had everything I could ask for in a hotel room. Breakfast is complimentary with your stay, the food itself was good too with good variety. And the place itself, my room and all the hallways were very clean. I can tell it is a well-managed and well-maintained place. The prices were very reasonable as well. It’s also located in a pretty convenient area. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Pasadena, or just in the LA area in general.
- 5/5
Great location for easy access to freeways and good food areas nearby. Toiletries were always restocked.
- 5/5
Very quiet and clean breakfast was good sausage eggs pancakes fair for continental breakfast

The room had 2 double beds that weren't very comfortable, but rather decent, room is not very spacious, shower pressure wasn't that great, it was quiet at night, parking was easy and accessible, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion dispenser were available in the bathroom and it had a good HOT breakfast. The front desk employees weren't very friendly or welcoming. They were average. The lobby area had some sort of remodeling going on. It was an overall good stay, but nothing over the top. It's about a 25 minute drive to Universal Studios Hollywood.
- 1/5
Small, at the end of a strip mall!!! Pool was a tiny joke. Room had smelly carpet, shower didn't work, room dirty.
- 4/5
It was clean and quiet. For breakfast when we went down they were out of bacon and sausage. That was a little disappointing
- 5/5
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast had a nice selection for everyone. The pool was clean and the hot tub was hot. We had a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend it.

The staff at this Holiday Inn was extremely nice and helpful. When staying in Pasadena, I would prefer to stay downtown but prices were really extreme during this weekend and this hotel had a good rate. The room was clean and everything worked great.
- 4/5
Hotel is a bit dated; but bed was comfortable and shower good. Typical HIE breakfast (good). Liked the parking garage. Daily housekeeping was nice. Pool and hot tub seemed clean (we didn’t use); but there weren’t any covered tables or chairs in pool area. Guest laundry very clean.

- 5/5
Very friendly check in, clean room and hotel and easy parking.
- 4/5
The rooms were very clean and updated. I was surprised they charged for parking. Did not notice they were going to charge me for parking when I booked the hotel.
- 3/5
Staff very helpful
- 2/5
There were ants crawling up the wall the morning of our check-out. When I notified the front desk she said she would notify maintenance. That's it. It took another agent to step in and say that she would comp us $25 for our stay. Will not return to this establishment.
- 5/5
Clean and staff was friendly
- 3/5
We usually love Holiday Inn Express and Suites hotels, but this location was more like a Best Western. The front desk staff was great, the building was older, elevator wasn’t working upon arrival, and breakfast was terrible.
- 5/5
Quiet , loves that. Breakfast was good. In the rooms you get Dove shampoo, Dove conditioner ,in dispensers ,good to know next time I won’t pack shampoo , Conditioner or bodywash
- 1/5
We went to a swim meet , to stay in the hotel to sleep between prelims and finals. , I couldn’t sleep because the cleaning person was vacuum all the time between 2-3 pm that it was the time for us to rest , then at night couldn’t sleep because the guest from upstate was stomping too much . I report this incident .
- 1/5
Wouldn't let several guests (including me) to check in until after 5 PM. Will never return.
- 5/5
We loved everything about this hotel. The staff were very friendly and professional. If I were being really particular, the shower water pressure was pretty weak, but otherwise, we had a wonderful time visiting Pasadena! So many places to walk!
- 2/5
The room was clean but not well maintained especially the bathroom with chipped tiles. The small refrigerator was not functioning well. It wasn't cold & it didn't have any type of control mechanism. Front desk said repairman will come in 15 minutes then after 30 min, she called back & said all refrigerators have the same temp. She offered change of room but that didn't make any sense if the refrigerators are the same. Breakfast isn't cook to order like the other Holiday Inns we've been to. Parking is not secure. Location is noisy even during the night. Some recording kept playing about 'police have been notified' - it's some security being breached but no idea where. Also lots of Tesla jockeying for position at the charging location which takes up most of the parking in front of the hotel.
- 3/5
All very good until the last day. A large cockroach appeared in the bedroom
- 4/5
Property was okay. The A/C unit under the window had a sign that said “do not touch, use thermostat on wall to adjust air” but there was not a thermostat on the wall so that was confusing. Even after figuring it out, the bathroom did not have any A/C so even though it was only February, it was warm and stuffy in the bathroom. The bathroom only had 1 towel hook and 0 towel bars so that was annoying. Also, I saw a huge rat right outside the main entrance.
- 4/5
Aside from the hallways and my room having a weird smell (my room was fine after a day), overall it was a very nice hotel. The room was great, I loved the bathroom, and the complementary breakfast was very good. Would definitely say here again.
- 5/5
The hotel is clean, in a safe environment, and near our favorite Mexican restaurant in Pasadena. Staff is friendly and parking is easy and at a low cost.
- 5/5
Very comfortable stay at this Holiday Inn Express. Great reception upon check in. Delicious hot breakfast. Friendly, professional check out by Pricilla. She anticipates needs and delivers. She should be Employee of the Year. This was one of several stays at this hotel. We will definitely book this hotel again when we come to Pasadena.
- 4/5
It’s ok
- 5/5
The breakfast buffet was fitting for the level of service we expected at this hotel price. The fitness room and pool were clean and well kept. Rooms were nice and spacious. Overall, would stay at again
- 4/5
Hotel itself is older but very clean. Staff was friendly and very eager to do anything asked of them. Hotel offers a nice complimentary breakfast, but does not have any restaurants on site. Neighborhood does not offer many restaurant choices either since it is mostly retail stores. Metro train is within walking distance and is easy to use to get to Old Town Pasadena.
- 4/5
It was a good place to stay near Sierra Madre Station which gets to Old Pasadena and anywhere else you would like to go around LA. Shopping mall close across the highway and Amazon Fresh within walking distance. Right on Route 66 Colorado Boulevard if you want to drive into Old Pasendena. Overall excellent location. Breaskfast was good. Rooms were a little old. A few maintenance issues like shower plunger hard to pull up and door release had to push really hard to get door to open. Overall a good stay.

Room was VERY nice and clean, I felt extremely safe on property. Complimentary breakfast was nice
- 3/5
The room smelled musty. Something like mold, or maybe cleaning products covering up a bad smell. It just didn't smell good when we entered the room. I appreciate the front desk staff giving us complimentary bottled water when we checked in. I also really appreciate the excellent service on the phone from Priscilla, who set us up with the room we wanted and an early checkin.
- 5/5
I liked that they were very friendly and accomodatinb. The place was clean.
- 3/5
Average hotel with a parking fee.
- 2/5
furniture in the cafeteria badly torn and worn food in cafeteria was low quality I have taken some pictures that wold shock you all the drawers in the room were open in the morning as the building is not level and they slid open in the night no towels in the sink area, had to go into the bathroom to get a towel to wash hands and face. a simple towel rack would have eliminated the situation. garbage cans were not where they should have been so we asked for another one grab bar in shower should have been placed on the other side (left side of the tub) nothing to hold onto when getting in th shower or tub. bar was behind the curtain and beside the toilet. toilet paper roll came out of the wall used Kleenex found behind the pillows on the bed. safe deposit boxes were not safe at all. they're 4-6 small boxes as used in a bank vault that had to be opened with a key, and shared!!!! They told me they watch when people want to get things out or put in but if someone needs them at the front desk they will not be watching. And, what kind of security that you share your passport, jewellery, with total strangers. very appalling. R.DEVLIN,Vancouver, Canada
