Reviews
The Delta King Hotel offers a unique and historic experience of staying on a riverboat, with a prime location in Old Sacramento. Guests generally appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, but some find the rooms small, outdated, and in need of maintenance.

The boat is 100 years old, rooms are not very big, bathroom is tight fitting. Excellent location, lots of restaurants, sporting events, and walking trails
- 4/5
The idea of a river boat was awesome. Great presentation and the staff were superb The noise that the seals make is extremely loud so that earplugs are provided and it’s all night. Something that you should be made aware of as the noise is so bad you will be up all night, ear plugs or not. Moving the seals by 100 metres by relocating the pontoons across the river would suffice.
- 3/5
the ac unit made a lot of noise and is blows directly at you. whoever slept on that side had cold air blowing straight on them. even when turned down, it was still freezing. the shower pooled up in one corner so water was not draining. didn't have complementary soap bars for shower or hand washing. no refrigeration so we couldn't keep anything cold. especially with how hot the weather was. Although the water front view was great, there were people just hanging out in the front making it feel unsafe to walk around at night. at one point, we saw some lounging just chilling on the back of a boat, which I'm sure they just hopped on. they gave us vouchers for free drinks, but the restaurants weren't open like the hours said. so we didn't even get the drinks. oh and our check in was delayed by almost an hour when we had an event to attend which we had to rush

Wonderful stay , want to return in the fall

Classic riverboat accommodations. Restaurant onboard was excellent. No onsite parking except for valet which was $30.

Loved staying here. Loved the location!

We enjoyed the historical onvionce of the Delta King. They did an excellent job in the restoration, keeping the old parts and pieces. The bedroom and baths were small but adequate, adding to the charm. I would definitely recommend staying on the Delta King if you are into historical things.
- 5/5
Loved the location in Old town Sacramento. Shopping was amazing. Room was a typical smallish ship stateroom. Restaurant was good. I was awakened in the wee hours by barking Sea Lions. They provide ear plugs, but I thought it was uniquely charming and annoying all at the same time.
- 5/5
I mean you’re staying on a riverboat what’s not to love
- 4/5
Good location in the historic area.
- 3/5
Small rooms, they didn't clean or change the towels until I said something.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the incredible view from the deck while having dinner and drinks in the bar. The food was excellent! We were confused when we saw ear plugs on the nightstands in our room - but they made sense when we heard the Sea Lions barking early in the morning. Not a big deal for us … but something to be aware of if you’re sensitive to such sounds.
- 2/5
Walking around the boat was nice but when we finally got to our room we immediately noticed how dusty they lamps, coffee machine, counter, and blinds were. At first we said it's an old place so it must get dusty fast but then we opened the blinds and after so the dust settled we saw a giant spider web on the inside of the window! That's disgusting because it shows they have not cleaned or duster the room in forever. I went straight to Cheryl and told her and she said "I'm surprised" and "we're all booked sorry about that." There was nothing we could do. So we slept on the firm bed in the dusty room. The next day we went back to the bar and grill excited for the food but it was a completely different experience! Turns out they had new chefs working that morning and the delicious calamari we ordered the previous day was not delicious anymore, the eggs Benedict were not cooked all the way you can see the egg white dripping down.

Amazing experience in downtown Sacramento. Room on a boat!! Great fun
- 2/5
I expected it to be a little funky because the boat is nearly 100 years old and I was right. The rooms are a little small and you have to pull a chain to flush the toilet, which I thought was cute. I stayed on the river side which was perfect! I woke up to seals every morning. The front desk staff were excellent, especially Albert! The reason for giving it two stars is because I have been trying to get a hold of the manager, Apple Mota through email, and leaving multiple messages for a return call. As I was checking out, I told the front desk that I needed to speak with a manager and that it was very important and they said she would not be in until Friday and this was on Wednesday. I ended up writing a letter to Ms. Mota describing the incident that happened in my room. I was traveling alone without my husband and was put in a very uncomfortable and frightening position by one of the employees. To me, the Delta King is like royalty among boats. No one should ever feel that way when they’re staying on a property and especially the Delta King. I’m embarrassed for them and their manager should be in the unemployment line. If I was in the position over her head, I’d certainly fire her on the spot!
- 5/5
Breakfast was great ! Dining rooms have views of the river.
- 4.5/5
Great to stay on a converted boat, room was not huge but comfortable enough for a one night stay. Staff were helpful. Public parking close by was fine. The seals over the river were a bit noisy, despite the provided ear plugs. The food in the restaurant was average, the service was poor and the drinks very expensive. It would be nice to have a small refrigerator.
- 5/5
Great place to take your grandkids
- 5/5
Our room faced the river and we enjoyed watching and hearing the sea lions on the pier across the river. The room was small but comfortable.
- 5/5
Room was small, bathroom was spacious. Complimentary drinks was a great amenity. Valet and staff were very accommodating. We would stay again
- 4/5
The room size reserved based on the photo provided was smaller than anticipated. The doorways to the cabins are 2’ x 6’ so be aware if you are a larger person. The bathroom was just wider than my shoulders, but clean. Also there are sea lions that vocalize at night, all night, from the river.

It was nice

Fun hotel in an old ship. Location was excellent for Old Town Sacramento.
- 4/5
Good view of the Delta River, and the Tower Bridge.

You can't beat the location. You walk off the boat right into the middle of Sacramento Old Town. Sutter Health Stadium is an 11 minute walk. You have a bar and a restaurant right on board, and a view of the river and Tower Bridge. The boat itself has an interesting history and it's a unique experience to stay there. Pro tip, skip Joe's Crab Shack and eat at the Railroad fish and chips place right at the top of the boat ramp. Go to the train museum, it's only a block away! I wish you had to be a hotel guest to enter the sections of the boat that are hotel rooms. We had a few sightseers hanging out in front of our room a few times, including someone filming themselves doing a tiktok dance. Made taking naps a little difficult, but this is really a first world problem and I should shut up.

We loved our stay at this unique hotel--a restored and converted river boat. The room was snug but comfortable with modern amenities. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at the hotel bar--good food and friendly bar tender. The hotel is conveniently in old town, which is very walkable, and close to other sites like the baseball stadium and the state capital too.

My overall impression woukd have been much better except for the valet and check out. I had to leave at 2:30 am and conveyed this to both the valet and front check-in desk. I was told my car would be in valet drop off area and would just need to get the keys from the front desk. When I checked out my car was not in the valet drop off area and valet was not on duty that early. The desk clerk was wonderful. She located my keys, shut down the front desk and then walked the 3 blocks to the parking garage with me to locate my car. I specifically did valet so I would not have to walk 3 blocks with my luggage in the middle of the night. The hotel still charged me for valet parking and never responded to my messages about this charge since I had to locate the car myself. Ruined an otherwise nice stay. The night clerk was wonderful!

We stayed overnight on the Delta King after attending a murder mystery dinner and the room was clean and quaint. We had a delicious breakfast the next morning at The Pilothouse restaurant on the boat. Nice little get-away.
- 5/5
Very unique experience staying on a paddle wheeler. The staff was wonderful. There was so much to do within walking distance. We really enjoyed spending the evening on the deck for a night cap.

Being right in middle of old town, also more personable all staff excellent wish I had more time Just wishing I got the discount we got staying there often many years ago as a San Francisco police officer Now retired Richard DellAgostino Everything

- 4/5
Everything was wonderful everybody was wonderful it is a beautiful property and a historic masterpiece. Fifth Star was I stayed on the riverside and the walruses across the river can be a little much. I would stay there again but I would give the city side a try just so I could get a little better night's sleep talking about sleep the beds were Rockstar.
- 5/5
Tremendous place
- 5/5
It was a unique experience we thoroughly enjoyed! Was hesitant about the potential seal noise, but had a room on the city side and never heard the seals at all.
- 5/5
Great stay! I was only there one night and did not realize it was a river boat until I got there. I thought to myself, “this is going to be rad or totally suck”. well, it was rad! Really cool vibes, great area, the food was awesome! Not built to accommodate tall people (I’m 6’3”), but still a great stay!
- 4.5/5
The nostalgia of an old operational steam ship. The bar and restaurant are excellent. The bed was comfy and room was clean. The Sea Lions barking all night.
- 4.5/5
The Sea Lions barking all night.
- 3/5
Rooms are small and very overpriced for the size and amenities. The Sea Lions are on the dock across the river and bark all night long. The hotel does provide ear plugs but they don’t help much and the constant barking kept us up all night. The drinks are overpriced at $12 for a well drink. They give you vouchers for 2 drinks but it is limited to beer and house wine. If you want to stay on a 100 year old riverboat this is the place to do it but I wouldn’t recommend multiple nights. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
- 4/5
I have always wanted to stay at the Delta King. I love that it is a restored paddle wheeler built in Stockton docked on the river. It has beautiful wood details and views with a bar, restaurant and theater. I stayed in a river view room which was just big enough. One day I hope to splurge for the Captains Quarters with private access and enjoy a performance in the theater. The wait staff was attentive in the bar and restaurant. I loved the history displays on the 2nd floor and was able to take home some souvenirs. Be ready for some vocal residents (sea lions on the dock) Overall a memorable experience
- 3/5
The food and drinks are god. The staff was nice and accommodating. The negative part of our stay was that the seals located across the river side rooms kept us up half the night. Ear plugs and a pillow over my head still did not drown them out.
- 5/5
It is very convenient close to many attractions in Old Town.
- 3/5
I was expecting more for that price , $450 dlls for the small room and 30 dlls for valet parking and not even a complementary bottle of water in the room .. other thing you can see everything through the window because the curtains don't cover all , with all the respect that's very expensive place to stay ....
- 2/5
Bed was super uncomfortable, room was full of bugs and moths, water pressure nonexistent. The noise in the area was absolutely horrendous and we couldn’t sleep. It was the first time in my life I seriously considered checking out in the middle of the night to find a different hotel.
- 5/5
We loved our stay and will be back again.
- 4/5
Very good
- 5/5
It was an interesting place to stay. Definitely a unique experience.
- 5/5
Great experience! Fun place to stay, excellent location and very nice staff.
- 4/5
Had a very pleasant stay, would definitely stay there again. Unique experience.
- 5/5
The Delta King is the perfect hotel for a stay in Old Sacramento. Easy walking distance from the train station, close to museums and shops. Entertaining wild life on the river including sea lions and geese. We had dinner at the restaurant and the service was excellent. The hotel itself is charming, and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud.
- 2/5
Only reason i had to give a poor rating is because of the constant noise from the sea lions next to the river that kept me awake all night. Never had such a poor sleeping experience anywhere. I know its not the property’s issue and it might not be a concern for many people. I am a light sleeper and had to attend a conference next day. This thing made it quite challenging to be at my best the next morning.
- 5/5
I opted to stay at the Delta King for a weekend baseball series at Sutter Health Park and was not disappointed! Walkable to the ballpark, Old Sacramento, and Downtown. I stayed in one of the smaller rooms, and although it lacked "storage" space, it was more than enough for me as a solo traveler (although the lack of a desk made remote work a bit challenging. Staff were kind and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
- 3/5
It was a beautiful view and nice clean cute room. The staff was absolutely kind and helpful and friendly. The bar and restaurant was very nice as well with above average food. The only downfall was the noise and chaos from Old Sacramento at night.we where woken up one night to a group af kids(not staying on the delta king) screaming and fighting. Did not feel safe that anyone can wonder on board and no security. It’s a shame because it’s a fun place to stay.
- 3/5
Check in got mixed up with another guests check in. I was over charged was supposed to get straightened out but hasn’t. Loud, obnoxious guests at the restaurant/bar. Thankfully the bartender finally cut them off but unfortunately didn’t make them leave even though they were not staying on the ship which left them still bothering guests.
- 4/5
The Delta King was a welcome change to the traditional hotel stay and made our recent visit to Sacramento a lovely experience. This historic riverboat is in a great location to Old Sacramento and the Golden One Center. Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to take advantage of the amenities onboard. We would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Only bad thing is bed was awful. Good , comfortable beds should be top priority fir any hotel. T
- 5/5
Waiter, Julian @ The Pilot House was excellent! The outside bar/grill area servers were not attentive. Not one of the servers came to offer to take our order. The bar was easily accessible from the outside & we were able to order our own drinks and food.
- 5/5
Super cool and quirky place to stay while in Sacramento. It’s close to the stadium where we went to see an A’s game. Close to Old Town and plenty of food choices. Rooms are small but the charm of the boat makes up for that. Sea lions sing their song loud and proud so we used our ear plugs (they’re provided). We will be back!!
- 4/5
Breakfast there is expensive
- 5/5
Nice place to stay, can't beat the location. The local seal lions on the river are noisy pretty much all night and early morning. Hotel did provide earplugs in the room.
- 5/5
A straight, short walk to Golden 1 Center, which was great for us. Awesome little room with great views of the river. Perfect for exploring Old-Town Sacramento as well. Would recommend. Extremely friendly and helpful staff as well, they had our car valeted at 6:45 for our early departure, which was so nice. However, we did not get to try out the restaurants. Emma's Tamales nearby is tasty though!
- 5/5
Friendly staff & helpful Great food & entertainment within walking distance
- 5/5
Enjoyed our 1 night stay. Super cool to see and hear the seals. We stayed in a river view room. Staff was nice and helpful. Fun to sleep on a ferry! And we enjoyed walking to the shops in Old town. Great location!
- 5/5
Really cool place to stay. Small rooms, but very unique.
- 5/5
We only stayed for one night but we definitely plan to come back! The Delta King is a boat and it’s pretty cool! It’s on the river in the middle of old Sacramento. The front desk people are very friendly and valet was very easy to use, I highly suggest using the valet. The rooms are tiny but remember it’s an old historical boat. We were there for a concert so we really only were in the room to sleep. But there is so much to do and see around the Delta King you’re not going to want to just sit in the room. It was also very clean!!! I was actually surprised at how clean the room was for being a boat. The only thing we couldn’t figure out was the AC and I’m sure if we had asked the front desk they would have helped us but we didn’t even need it since it was a cold day anyways and I’m always cold lol. But seriously it was a great stay!
- 3/5
The bar was fun as was the wait staff Great location however
- 5/5
Delightful hotel made out of a real decommissioned paddle wheeler. First time I’ve ever had ear plugs provided by a host and I needed them at 4 am because of the sea lions outside the hotel on the opposite shore!
- 5/5
Beautiful location, fun to stay, walkable to shops and attractions.
- 5/5
Clean and suitable, just not for me the next time.
- 5/5
The delta king is a fun place to stay. Our room was very clean and the staff was friendly. If you have a room on the river side you are treated to the song of sea lions barking at all hours though. Complimentary ear plugs are provided.
- 5/5
Fun stay aboard a river boat. Right in the heart of Old Town Sacramento. Easy walk to downtown Sacramento. Great location for Kings and A's games, or the train museum. Friendly staff and a nice bar.
- 5/5
Felt like I was part of history! Clean room and right there in Old Town Sacramento. Some reviews commented on noise - we were on the city side and heard some folks partying in the distance, but didn't bother us at all!
- 5/5
Clean room, nice bar.
- 3/5
I understand the desire to remain "authentic" but bathrooms with the old "johns" are ridiculous.
- 4/5
Location was wonderful. Super convenient to Old Sacramento and the Arena area.
- 4/5
We had a delightful stay, great staff, fun venue, clean and good linen. We had an excellent dinner, the short rib pasta and Cajun pasta were well prepared, good Caesar salad and clam chowder. Lovely view. Our breakfast next morning as also delicious. We will recommend this hotel to our friends, for sure.

It was fun to stay on the Riverboat. Location is great, lots of people watching and shops.
- 5/5
Charming room. Excellent meals in the restaurant.
- 5/5
The Delta King provided a delightful alternative to a sterile hotel environment. It is an old converted river ship with gorgeous woodwork and features like a pull-chain toilet and 2 shower knobs to adjust hot and cold with good water pressure. The restaurant was good and the staff extremely attentive, friendly and interactive. Our room, while small, was clean and more than adequate with a great view of the river. Close to Old Sacramento tourist area with a great railroad museum. We totally enjoyed our stay

This ship has been beautifully restored. The wood throughout is beautiful. There are photos everywhere with history of the boat. Will definitely be back!!
- 5/5
Very cute stay and an affordable price.
- 3/5
We were in a tiny room just across from the main desk. There was hallway/lobby noise at all hours and the bed was too firm to be comfortable.
- 5/5
I lived and worked Sacramento for 30 yrs - downtown has turned to garbage.. the Delta keeps the homeless away, the restaurants and bar - top notch.. don’t expect a 800 sq ft hotel room.. love every thing about the king.
- 4/5
Valet parking was a gem -the way to go if staying here Restaurant and restaurant staff excellent -very nice and friendly
- 5/5
Staff was excellent!
- 5/5
We loved this hotel! Super unique and the staff were so friendly! It’s so close to everything and we didn’t need to rent a car our entire stay. We will be back.
- 5/5
I loved the view of the river and city of Sac from my room.
- 4/5
Staff was phenomenal. The hotel is definitely an experience unlike a regular hotel. Definitely like staying on a boat in the early 1900s when people were a lot tinier haha. But would gladly stay again. The hotel is very convenient to bars, restaurants, tourist spots, and concerts. Very nice walkable.
- 5/5
Parking was nice and easy
- 5/5
yes!
- 5/5
I loved this place. I recommend getting the bigger room , it was totally worth the extra space! Super cute place with excellent views and location for night life. Will definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
I seen by to a concert that was walking distance from the hotel.
- 5/5
Nice spot closes the water and nature. Good experience.
- 5/5
Friendly staff and room 320 exceeded our expectations.
- 5/5
The location couldn’t have been better, right in the heart of Old Sacramento and within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. The ambience throughout the hotel was amazing—warm, historic, and full of personality. If you’re looking for something a little different from the usual hotel stay.
- 4/5
Unfortunately, i won't be coming back to this hotel.
- 4/5
Staff at the hotel was great, the restaurant I would not recommend, poor poor service
- 4/5
Yes great on location everything is walking distqnce
- 5/5
It’s right in the heart of ‘Old Sac’, offering a great room right on the Sacramento River! We loved hearing the sea lions, watching all the different birds and the nearby shops and dining places were way over the top!!!
- 4/5
We found the location to be very convenient.
- 3/5
Nice experience but the food was disappointing. There is virtually no breakfast; bagel and cream cheese but no cream cheese. Juice and coffee or a pastry That's it.. Very nice bar but the dinner menu though extensive left a great deal to be desired taste wise. The braised ribs and fettucine tasted like fish.
- 5/5
Wonderful super helpful staff
- 5/5
Awesome experience. Room was clean. Boat was awesome. Great bar service.
- 5/5
Interesting fun place to stay. In a happening part of town.
- 5/5
Fun trip, I would book this again.
- 5/5
Everything about our stay was top notch! We will definitely stay there again!
- 5/5
Cozy room, friendly and helpful staff. Be aware that if you're sound sensitive, maybe don't pick the river view side of the boat as there is a family of sea lions that love to chat 20 hours of the day.
- 5/5
Nice room . Unique atmosphere. Staff was warm and friendly
- 5/5
The staff was really friendly. They made us feel welcome and well taken care of.
- 5/5
We ate in the onbaord restaurant and it was good. Again the staff was super nice. The location is realky great. It is about a 10 minute walk over to the Golden One Center. It is conveniently located in Old Sacramento and there are llots of places to eat. The location
- 5/5
Clean, staff beyond helpful and friendly
- 5/5
Our room was teeny tiny but just enough for my daughter and I for the weekend. The boat is super charming and the staff is warm and welcoming. The sea lions outside of our window were so cute and it was a super unique and charming experience.
- 5/5
Great staff comfortable rooms and fantastic bar and restaurant
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
That place was an amazing adventure ☺️
- 5/5
There was some strange light bulbs in the room and in the restaurant that were mismatched and flickering like a horror movie set, like the handyman put in some very cheap bulbs. It was irritating and made me not return to the restaurant the second day. I could unscrew the one in the room, but it was a detail that became an actual headache.
- 3/5
Sweated and tossed and turned all night
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean room, excellent location!
- 4/5
Great experience!
- 5/5
One of a kind hotel. So pleasant to sit on the deck. The bar is super cool.
- 5/5
Always a great place to stay.
- 5/5
Fun hotel, great bar. Excellent location and unbeatable views of the river and old sac. It’s got great history.
- 5/5
The room was really nice! I loved the comfortable bed with the extremely comfortable linens! The valet who brought my luggage up to the hotel was really helpful!
- 5/5
There was nothing wrong with the room specifically but be prepared for tight quarters and rustic plumbing.
- 5/5
Clean room.
- 5/5
Cute rooms and excellent bar and restaurant
- 5/5
The shower is very small but had amazing water pressure. Best shower I've had at a hotel in several years. Unfortunately, we only stayed there for about 12 hours before having to leave for our flight home. So we didn't get to really experience much of the hotel, but the staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable and the hotel seems safe despite being in a terrible neighborhood. The area is swarming with homeless drug addicts.
- 5/5
Quaint, clean and comfortable in a great location
- 2/5
There was no microwave or fridge in the room.
- 5/5
Nice staff,easy check in

Very clean, period era. Would stay again, plan on coming back.

Amenities
- 5/5
This is a great experience if you want to relive a bit of history. The ceilings are low, the cabin doors are tiny, the rooms are clean and smaller than usual. The bathrooms are spacious with claw foot tubs. The restaurant and bar are beautiful wood paneled walls with historical photos and paintings on the wall. Staff was polite and helpful. Great experience. Looking forward to staying there again.
- 5/5
All was great.
- 5/5
The Sea Lions on the pier serenading us throughout the night….
- 5/5
Excellent hotel, friendly staff and a great experience.
- 5/5
The service is always amazing
- 5/5
Staff was helpful and kind. The room was clean. The whole experience was fun!
- 5/5
Unique experience of staying on a ship, like being transported to the 19th century.
- 5/5
The perfect riverside retreat. We decided to upscale our room as we had a longer stay and glad we did. We were at the rear of the steamship on the 3rd floor and had large windows looking out at the bridge and across to the sea lions on the dock. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and the space large enough that we never felt crowded. Housekeeping did a great job of freshing the room when requested. Shower was hot and all the amenities for a pleasant stay were available in the room including great coffee and tea.Valet parking did a great job and provided for an early departure time with no problem. Quick walk to restaurant on board and easy access to Old Sac. Perfect in so many ways!

Took Amtrak no driving. Very clean room. Pleasant and helpful staff at the front desk checking in, bar staff and breakfast server as well. Pleasant stay.
- 4/5
Sea lions serenading us all night. Don’t get that every where. The room was a bit small but that is to be expected on a river boat. Very unique for sure. Best shower I must say. Bar and food were good as well.
- 5/5
Clean room. Staff helpful.

- 5/5
Valet parking was great as parking in the area with the Polar Express activities was crowded.
- 5/5
If you don't mind listening to seals most of the night. It did not bother us but I can see it bothering some. Other than that, we had a great trip.
- 5/5
Nice room, great location, staff helpful. Reasonable price for location.
- 5/5
Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room was great! The only funny thing that I found was the startlingly noisy toilet when flushed! 😂. Regardless, A+!
- 4/5
Charming hotel even though it is a little outdated. The food could be better. The riverside view roommates was nice.
- 5/5
Hotel is charming. Hotel staff are very friendly
- 4/5
Staff was wonderful. I think every effort was made to make the stay & room amazing! Best pillows ever in a hotel! Shower was amazing for a small space. Fantastic Water pressure and lots of hot water. It’s an old boat & that’s the charm of it. We wanted something different & fun. I would totally recommend it. Lots of original features like the toilet with the tank above & brass accents. Room was very clean. But if you want modern & lots of room this might not be for you. I loved that we didn’t need to drive anywhere. We walked to dinner and to a show at the railroad museum. Had breakfast on the boat in the dining room. Food was really good with a view of the river and sea lions (noisy sea lions, but I loved seeing & hearing them!).
- 5/5
They have us a room that has a broken
- 4/5
Charming vintage room. It was small, but the use of space was good
- 5/5
Quaint, clean
- 5/5
The staff was friendly. The environment was nautical and inviting.
- 4/5
Sometimes loud at night
- 4/5
Larger than expected, room slants a tiny bit. Comfortable.
- 1/5
Couldn’t carry my luggage that far and was refused any kind of refund…..a hotel with only street parking! What a joke
- 5/5
Convenient to transportation. Nice view of sea lions from my room’s window.
- 4/5
Historic river boat. Seals on river were barking thru the night so maybe the dock side would be quieter.
- 2/5
Room had a strong urinal cake smell that made it smell like a public bathroom and was surface-level clean as the decorative fan had a thick layer of dust on it. Valet parking was $30 and not open 24 hrs so plan accordingly. Free drink ticket but bar hours were limited (11:30AM-9PM) so never got used. Convenient location to shops, restaurants and museums around Old Sacramento.
- 5/5
Now, it's a historic paddlewheeler; not a sparkling new cruise ship. So, it's got patina -- everywhere. But that's the whole charm of it. Loved the views across the water, the relaxing water, and even the sea lions barking at all hours of the night. Wonderfully different!
- 5/5
Steak with spinach I added A1 sauce- required a touch in more of flavoring! 1/2 house salad- artsy, but soggy I'm parts of greens- too much dressing Ice tea with lemkn-no stevia raw sweetener, ( will place on packing list! Bloody Mary-tasty, but missed celery to crunch into! Almost $100. (only 2nd steak dinner this cost in dalmost.72.years!
- 5/5
Small but great room
- 5/5
The room was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Cozy and clean room.
- 4/5
Parking was a little bit confusing as there was no Valet attendant when we arrived. But we valeted our car easily once we checked in. The room was clean but very cold. Staff was helpful and kind. Overall we enjoyed our visit but wished we were warmer at night.
- 3/5
The stay was not as expected for the price. The room was very small, mold was growing on the ceiling in the room, and the whole room was lopsided to one side. I felt like I was going to fall out of bed at night. The parking was ok considering we had to run out at 10:00 am to put money into the meter.
- 3/5
Guests know that it is a historic boat so it has limitations. Service is friendly, but amenities are almost nonexistent. The restaurant opens at eight so if you need to be at a meeting in Sacramento, it’s no good. The lobby really needs new carpet and a refresh to feel more welcoming.- warn people to tell the Uber or Lyft the actual address because there’s something else in the map application with the same name and it sent me on an expensive misdirected trip from the airport. Use 1000 Front St. if you want to arrive at the hotel!
- 5/5
Close to the outstanding Rail Museum.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Everything was perfect. It was convenient to "Old" Sacramento shopping and Rivercats Ballpark. The rooms were comfortable and clean considering the historical nature of the facility.
- 3/5
…..
- 4/5
Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Check in was a breeze and the room was very cute and cozy. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there isn't any ac unit but I guess that's expected when you stay on a boat. The restaurant and bar had beautiful views, especially when you wake up to a river view of seals starting their morning swimming around! I couldn't have asked for a better stay. I'll be back!
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Really enjoyed our stay and loved the close proximity to the historic downtown. Will be back next year for aftershock
- 5/5
The staff was excellent. I loved the view of the river. The room was nice. The bed was comfy. The shower was nice and hot. We loved there were sea lions on the other side of the river, they talked all night both nights, we loved it. We'd stay again.
- 5/5
The incredible Delta King is what stood out.
- 5/5
Stayed in room 528. It was on the top deck, center and facing the river. We loved the sea lions on the dock. We did the valet parking for $30. Worth it because it’s a busy area. The bartender wasn’t very friendly. It took 20 min before she even asked my order. Thankfully, she went on lunch and was replaced by a way nicer one. I finally got my drink 35 min later. We had dinner there which was very yummy. My 9yo had a blast and loved walking around Old Sac. I would return!
- 4/5
These hotel needs some upkeep but is reasonably comfortable. I wish they would enforce quiet hours as there was a loud party out on the deck until the early morning hours.
- 5/5
Really cool place to stay and eat
- 2/5
The check in was honestly horrible. The girl checking me in gave me the room
- 5/5
The property is ok, small room but clean; the bed was comfy, the bathroom no frills. No place for a fridge to store anything, microwave, and the coffee pot was inside the closet, which of course we didn't use it. No room cleaning for an overnight stay. The best was the scenery, a view of the river which was great. The worst was no elevator for handicapped; VERY hard to climb the stairs with bad legs.
- 5/5
Classic historic steamboat hotel.
- 5/5
The Delta King is the perfect place to stay in Old Sacramento. Great staff, dining options and location. Our room was clean with a beautiful view of the Delta (and sea lions!) Loved it!
- 5/5
Parking was easy once we figured out where the valet station was.
- 1/5
Dont waste your money tiny room , seals outside . its a waste
- 2/5
The bathroom sink was not cleaned. There were food and olad soap paste in the sink
- 5/5
Really pretty and historical
- 5/5
Great place and wonderful staff. Lots of good places to eat and close to discovery park. They provide earplugs to block out the seals barking. But they are beautiful to see. I loved the view and will definitely be back. Shower was great.
- 5/5
This property was clean and the staff was friendly. Great place to st
- 5/5
All good!
- 5/5
Such a delightful hotel! Loved staying here, will be back when I visit Sacramento again :)
- 4/5
Cute for a special occasion but a little over priced. Plus valet parking was an additional $30 per night adding to the feel of being overpriced.
- 5/5
Very nice and a fun place to stay.
- 5/5
Beautiful views
- 5/5
Great location only complaint is mattress was very uncomfortable and seemed old.
- 5/5
Nice with character
- 5/5
Loved the rooms, history and Sea lions.
- 5/5
I made the right choice! i was going to a show at golden 1 center and needed a place to stay. the delta king was PERFECT. it was walking distance and there were plenty of food and drink choices along the way. also it was just fun to be on a boat! (cue lonely the island song) the staff was nice and helpful. would definitely recommend!
- 4/5
That said, there were a few drawbacks. The rooms did not provide shampoo, which was a huge inconvenience for an overnight stay. The valet parking also took more time than expected—it would have been much easier to have standard come-and-go parking instead of waiting for the valet, especially when multiple cars were ahead. On the positive side, breakfast was very good and the bar had a nice atmosphere. The only hiccup there was that my husband ordered a pale ale but was served an IPA instead. Overall, I’m glad I finally got the chance to stay here. It’s a unique spot with plenty of charm, though a few small improvements could make the experience even better.
- 4/5
The only complaint I have is the bed wasn’t as comfortable as I would’ve hoped for, but it wasn’t totally uncomfortable either so all in all not too bad. There is a train that runs close by and there’s lots of sea otters that like to talk all night long so if you’re a light sleeper, I suggest taking some earplugs.. It was very beautiful on the Sacramento river and you could sit out outside the bar area and watch as boats go by and jet, skis and all of that. I would definitely stay here again, especially knowing what I know now the price is right and the location is great.
- 5/5
Good spot to walk to baseball games.
- 4/5
Very convenient for A’s baseball. Clean well kept. This is an old boat . rooms are small. Old Sacramento perhaps not as developed as we had hoped for . convenient access however to downtown. Nice views in the morning, looking out over the river.
- 5/5
Such a unique place, wirt wonderful history.
- 4/5
Staff seemed short handed at dinner. Dinner was great. Accommodations great. Location perfect
- 4/5
Heart of old sacramento
- 4/5
The staff was super friendly and helpful with all my needs. They only negative thing was that there was no parking for the hotel.
- 5/5
Decided to stay in town and hang out a little bit after a ball game. Got the hotel last minute always wanted to stay here the hotel itself the rooms everything was great. However there were quite a few things going on in Sacramento that night so there was a bit of a scary crowd in Old Town that made me a bit nervous I would not say that it was unsafe because it was cops everywhere but it was a little shady. That has nothing to do with this facility or the process or the room. And everything was fine we saw no evidence of anything no one directly spoke to us that I would have been concerned with and we made some great friends at one of the local pubs. So all in all a very good experience just a little shaky and noisy at the street. The hotel room was completely silent we got a Riverview room it was amazing the next morning. I would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Food at the Hotel Was Very Good
- 4/5
Bummed that the bar was not opened at 9pm for a glass of wine. Everything else was great.
- 5/5
We had a great experience
- 4/5
The location is great for visiting Old Town Sacramento. Walking distance to many shops and attractions. Staying on a boat was fun. Don't chose this if you have to have luxury accommodations, but it was clean and nice. I recommend going anywhere else to eat though. The quality was poor and prices high.
- 1/5
Don’t stay Monday to Thursday main restaurant isn’t open and bar closes at 8pm, staff were really nice but there are no services available am sure a weekend stay would be better but would avoid
- 5/5
Coming in knowing you’re staying on a classic river paddle boat built in 1927 helps when you find uneven and sometimes small spaces. But we really loved our stay. There’s something special about this ship and the location in Old Town Sacramento can’t be beat. My suggestion is you must try the food at the bar. Excellent.
- 5/5
We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Nice staff.
- 5/5
The staff here are welcoming and fun. The boat is a classy lady showing her age but clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed a little shopping nearby.
- 5/5
Was a great stay, definitely get the deluxe room it’s worth it. Really centralized with old town and down town sac.
- 5/5
Went to an A's game. Pulled up and had the car valet parked ($30 with in and out privileges). Hotel is a riverboat with a very cool restaurant & bar. Many bars and restaurants in old town within a couple of blocks. Will definitely stay again.
- 3/5
It is docked right next to Old Town and thus very covenient.
- 4/5
Ate dinner in the bar where Conner provided excellent and friendly service. Seems the bar was once the wheelhouse of the riverboat. Rooms are what you expect from converted staterooms, and the AC struggles on a hot day….we would definitely do it again!
- 5/5
The staff went above and beyond for us. Providing much needed accommodations for out stay
- 5/5
Such a cool place with an awesome staff
- 5/5
Nice hotel stay. Very quiet and peaceful. Great relaxing views.
- 5/5
It was a great experience staying on the boat. The only negative thing I have to say is that the room had a strong irritating smell of disinfectant.it was difficult for me to breathe.
- 5/5
The staff was the best.
- 5/5
The hotel’s restaurant bar is comfortable, features indoor and outdoor seating with nice river views . You get free drink tickets with your room, which was an unexpected, nice touch. We got a great night’s sleep here and had a nice, steamy shower before setting off. We’ve been on a three 1/2 week holiday, in three states. The staff at the Delta King, everyone we had contact with (valet, check in, bartender, housekeeping , etc.) was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
- 3/5
Awesome location. But room was small and the toilet flush was really loud. Understandable for being on a boat.
- 4/5
Too hot
- 5/5
Old Sacramento is a historical little town with wood walkways, old saloons, lots of different shops to explore. Delta King fits right in and is a unique place to stay right on the river and within easy walking distance to everything.
- 1/5
Not as advertised. Hotel was completely unresponsive. Stay at a real hotel instead.
- 4/5
Disappointed in restaurant. Loud and appeared cater to locals
- 5/5
Valet parking was ok. They could use more staff. We waited about forty minutes in the heat. We requested the car when we checked out. We huddled in the shade of a tree waiting for the car. They could put benches out there.
- 5/5
The venue was absolutely fabulous as a special old world experience and excellent value The food was great and the service at the restaurant was excellent really enjoy a special time in an incredible location
- 4/5
The ship cabin was small but adequate—our suitcases had to sit on the floor, closed, so we could step around them. But the historic neighborhood was delightful as was the staff.
- 4/5
The location is excellent as it is on the river, giving it a wonderful view. It’s also in Old Town Sacramento so there are many restaurants, etc. the train station is right next door, and we walked to Golden 1 Center for a concert much more quickly than we’d expected.
- 4/5
Please understand that this is a converted paddle wheeler and it's old and loud. The hotel thoughtfully provided earplugs and they were sufficient. The bar and restaurant closed much earlier than advertised and that was a bit of a bummer. However, there were plenty of walkable places near the hotel. All in all, it was delightful and we'd stay there again.
- 4/5
Nice quaint accommodations and on the “River”
- 5/5
It was a nice place, parking was not the greatest.
- 5/5
Sweetest little hotel ever, historic charm but just simply well appointed, too
- 3/5
The bars 🍸
- 5/5
Excellent romantic stay
- 5/5
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The pull chain toilet added charasteristics of the time-era for the ship. Friendly staff. Appreciate the valet service!
- 5/5
Beautiful moments to see around you!
- 4/5
Room cleanliness it’s look like they don’t vacuum the carpet.
- 3/5
Was city side of the boat so noise was an issue as our room was by the gang plank. Services within room were basic, tv didn’t work, and bed was lumpy. Outside area clean but frequented by the unhoused and intoxicated.
- 5/5
Everyone was very nice, lobby has extra beverages avaliable 24/7.
- 5/5
It was so pretty and had great views. The staff was amazing
- 5/5
The riverboat/paddleboat is very cool
- 4/5
Helen, I think her name was Helen working this morning 7/23, was extremely helpful and friendly making several suggestions that I took! She is a true testament to customer service!
- 5/5
Fun to stay in this historical river boat.,
- 5/5
Did not care much for the Pilothouse, the on site restaurant. Way overpriced for very plain breakfast. Bland eggs Benedict for $25 and $15 for a bowl of oatmeal that was nothing special. We will return to the hotel, though, for the beautiful and quaint accommodations and location. Just not the restaurant.
- 5/5
We came for a concert at Golden 1 Center, we really enjoyed staying here, it was a quick 8 minute walk straight to the concert. Sitting on the deck of the boat having drinks over the river was the best part. Food at their restaurant is really good too. Room was a little smaller than we were expecting but it was clean, comfortable, and enjoyable for the night. We will definitely stay again!
- 5/5
It was absolutely amazing first time experience for me and my daughter.
- 5/5
Cute hotel, nice unique room, friendly staff. Area was touristy, cute. Relatively safe, but I'd be guarded at night if I was by myself. But I had no issues.
- 5/5
Would stay here again
- 5/5
Really loved this place love the old charm. It’s in great condition. The room was very comfortable. Bed was comfortable bathroom is very sweet. If you’d like something nice and quaint this is definitely a place for you but if you want a big Vegas room, this is not the place for you. The food in the restaurant and the bar is very tasty. Staff is helpful and friendly and everything that you want from old town. Sacramento is right there.
- 5/5
We stayed there to watch a Braves game. It was a very easy walk to the game. Small room. But expect it for a ship. A very fun experience. I would stay here again.
- 5/5
Located a block from Old Sacramento. About a 4 block walk to the baseball park. Has a nice dining room and pub. Staff were very friendly and room was comfortable. A complementary glass of wine or beer was provided. Apparently, there is a dinner theatre which also runs at various times of the year.
- 4/5
The rooms are on a boat so smaller the stanard rooms, but didn't spoil our stay. Curve of the deck meant room has small slope but did not fall out of bed.
- 4/5
Located in the heart of Old Sac! Very convenient, great around the clock access with front desk service, and walking distance to everything. Only complaint is the A/C in our room could have been a little stronger. Full disclosure, I do run hot! LOL
- 5/5
Fantastic stay. If you are looking to plan an outing for the family in the area of Old Sac and are looking for a room thats close by then look no further! Where this hotel is located makes it really easy to rest, relax, and prep for your next activity in the area.
- 1/5
Us would close their door it will Wake us up Because it was loud like slamming the doors. I wouldn’t recommend this place to Nobody. The only good thing is that is near the golden center (concert venue) is walking distance. That’s the only good thing. And the welcome drink. That’s it.
- 5/5
Nice place to stay for one night. Room was small but that was to be expected. The only complaint was that the AC was on all night and was quite cold and there’s no control for it. Staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the free drink as well.
- 1/5
Receptionist at most times rude to us and our guests. When we asked for help.. always seemed annoyed that we asked anything. We came as a group. Most of our group noted the rudeness.
- 4/5
Enjoyed the history and historical location. Drinks and dining were top notch. It is an aged naval vessel and there were some forewarned features which had to be watched out for.
- 4/5
Great stay as hotel is convenient to activities and good restaurants
- 5/5
Angel checked me in on a nightmarish day for me and she was so kind and patient she deserves a raise the epitome of what a front desk clerk should be at a hotel. 5 stars.
- 5/5
It was a great, safe and affordable option to meet up with family.
- 4/5
Very quirky hotel.
- 4/5
Room was clean, bed a bit on the hard-as-a-rock side. Nice old fashioned fixtures in the bath. Easy walking to anything in old town and the capital mall.
- 5/5
Charming hotel. Old world feel with modern amenities and wonderful history of the Delta King.
- 5/5
Clean, charming, friendly staff, wish we had more time in town to relax and just enjoy.
- 4/5
A great stay however the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired.
- 5/5
The exact cute, funky little place I hoped I had booked enhanced by an awesome staff. Wonderful stay!
- 4/5
Loved the location in old Sac. Restaurant and bar were great for hanging out and food. Just a little loud as I was next to the lobby. Was clean with nice staff.
- 5/5
Wonderful stay.
- 3/5
Old, small, not my favorite stay, not terrible.
- 5/5
Loved this boat turned hotel. Definitely would come back and the front office was very helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
Definitely a must stay in Sacramento
- 5/5
Really cool location
- 4/5
A lot of rude people hang around Old Sacramento.
- 5/5
Front Desk lady was very polite and helpful. Room was clean
- 5/5
Such a cool, unique place to stay for one night after going to the A's game!
- 5/5
The hotel is clean and very well maintained. The rooms are small but that is expected. We loved the vibe of the boat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My only suggestion/complaint would be the bright lights right outside the windows. Black out shades would address that.
- 5/5
Only complaint I have is the surprise extra charge for parking. I was there just a few years ago, and parking was included. I will be looking for other accommodations in the Sacramento area. Between 1978 (approximately) and April 2024 (my wife passed on April 7, 2024, and I was hospitalized for a month), I used to go up to Sacramento about 2-3 times a month, on political business, either as a representative or consultant for educational organizations, a visiting professor at USC’s Sacramento Center, or as an elected official. There are many nice places I have stayed at in Sacramento that are as nice as yours. Think about it. Thank you
- 5/5
Staying on a boat was unusual, but a good experience, will be happy to use it again when in the.area.
- 5/5
We really enjoyed the Delta King as a different experience, Also docked right there in Old Town. It couldn't have been better. Food and Bar a tad pricey but other options close by.
- 5/5
The people working there are fantastic. This is a uniquely awesome experience!
- 5/5
Wanted to spend one night in this historic riverboat hotel.
- 5/5
Great stay on holiday weekend for a couple. Food was great as well.
- 5/5
Ceilings are low, so if you’re tall, you’re going to be in trouble. We’re short, so no worries for us. Our room was clean and tidy, hotel staff was great. We ate at the restaurant onsite, and it was excelllent. Side note - The water pressure was fantastic!
- 5/5
Nice staff. Great location
- 5/5
We loved are stay on the Riverboat! Small 1925 quarters which was expected. Was quiet for a Monday night in Old town Sacramento tourist area. Our television kept turning on to cartoons. I guess the reported children ghosts were at play.
- 4/5
Very fun, unusual overnight. It’s an old riverboat, so it isn’t expected to offer the same amenities or experience of a regular hotel, but that’s why we chose it. Night time views on the river were magical. Front desk staff took very good care of us. We had a great experience, and would do it again!
- 5/5
We arrived early and the front desk went out of their
- 4/5
Location, location, location 👍👍👍
- 5/5
Love it! Fourth time staying here. Such a charming place.
- 3/5
Again, it’s a great experience for a few nights. Longer if you stay in the lake side and bring a bug zapper. And there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Sacramento is beautiful. Old Sac is really cool. Delta King is an experience to be taken for what it is and nothing more.
- 5/5
Easy check in with super helpful staff. We liked the room and the decor. The outdoor seating at the bar and grill looking at the river was fabulous. We will be back!
- 5/5
I really enjoyed my stay. The room was nice and i really enjoyed learning about the History of the Delta King.
- 1/5
I know, it’s a boat. That means people walk around 2 feet from your ears. The walkway lights illuminate the room all night. Suffice to saw i was sleep deprived at my family event. Never again.
- 3/5
Neighborhood questionable
- 5/5
This boat/hotel experience was great! Great bar and restaurant, that also gives a great view of the river
- 2/5
The room smelled. When I asked how to turn the air conditioner off they said in summer ‘it’s on’ and in winter the heater is on. No way to adjust it. They brought me blankets but I slept terribly. For $250 they said I had a City View. I had the view of the backside of the stairwell. I would never stay here again.
- 5/5
This is one of my favorite places to stay in all of the U.S. It's not just a hotel, it's a throwback to a bygone day. It's in Old Sacramento right now to the scenic yellow Tower Bridge — so once you check out the boat, be sure to walk around and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants immediately adjacent to the boat. I go to Sacramento simply to stay on the Delta King! The locals know what a gem it is — they solve mysteries on it, school kids come to check it out and people regularly stop their strolls to take photos in front of it. Stay there, it will be a great memory.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful
- 4/5
Unique and interesting hotel with very cool history. The room is small but expected as it’s a river boat. It’s a little worn so it would be nice to see a little sprucing up. Definitely some new mattresses would be an improvement. My biggest complaint would be the lack of air in the room. We weren’t able to open the windows for fresh air and it got pretty stuffy. I would imagine the summers must be brutal. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the property was mostly clean (maybe pay attention to corners). All in all we had a great time and enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
The Delta King is like 100 years old, so the facilities, while small, were about what you would expect for being an old steamboat turned into a hotel. It's very cool & unique but the spaces and doorways are tiny and obviously old-fashioned, so plan accordingly. The bed was not very comfortable and the bathroom didn't even come with soap, though, so that was a bit disappointing. The staff was friendly and the bar was a great spot to sit & enjoy some cocktails & yummy food. FYI - we did NOT expect the sea lions and how much noise they made literally ALL night long. I guess that's why there were ear plugs left next to the bed. Even with the ear plugs and white noise on our phone, you could still hear the sea lions barking all night. That being said, it's a very unique stay.
- 3/5
We tried to get drinks and appetizers at the bar. The bartender seemed overwhelmed and never helped us. So we went elsewhere.
- 4/5
If you don't like listening to sea lions making noise most of the night, don't stay at the Delta King. Also, the rooms are tiny, even without a desk. You'll have to hang your clothing up on hangers on the wall to the side of your room. The ceiling in the bathroom is so low, you can cut your hand on the fire-sprinkler head in the bathroom while drying off from the shower (I did). Otherwise, it is a quaint experience, especially if you only stay one or two nights. The staff is friendly and everything is clean. It is convenient to Old Town, but your call will be shuttled back and forth from a parking structure a block or so away, for a $30 per day charge for that privilege. I wouldn't go back, but more or less happy to have experienced it for a few days. My interest in the area was that it is walking distance to the baseball stadium.
- 4/5
yo it’s a boat
- 5/5
This is a museum! Slept wonderfully. Great valet parking. Very friendly staff.
- 5/5
Unique hotel on the water located in Old Town Sacramento and very close proximity to where the A’s are playing. A must stay if you’re visiting Old Sac.
- 2/5
Seals across from the property barking all nnight long. Couldn't get any sleep. Had to change hotels because they were so loud
- 4/5
It was quite exciting to be sleeping on a boat that had so many years behind it. The rooms are small, but just to think that they went from 88 rooms to 44 by removing a wall in between two rooms to make it a little bit larger for travelers nowadays, it worked for me. Walking around the boat and seen the old rustic look of this boat and reading stories of what it’s been through. It was pretty exciting.
- 3/5
It was a fun stay for pictures, but it lacked a few things. Getting water was a mission. Had to walk to general store 2 blocks away. Most local stores nearby close early. Not too many amenities on the ship.
- 5/5
Great place right on the river. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great restaurant and food. Great views.
- 5/5
The rooms are extremely small so plan accordingly

A great stay

Great place and restaurant on the river
- 5/5
Highly recommend for a different experience with amazing dinning options on boat too
- 5/5
Staff was wonderful. An affordable and cool experience. Lots of tourism spots around
- 5/5
Very easy stay. Not fancy but I was just there to stay the night after event at Golden One. Recommend esp if you can get a discount rate.
- 5/5
The stay was amazing so was the food
- 4/5
Ok

Oh my it was wonderful. From the valet’s friendly welcome to check-in staff everything was first class. The pinnacle for us was the dinner. Nigel was the best server ever. We live in Las Vegas and are used to 5 star restaurants and our experience was absolutely amazing. Thank you
- 5/5
Staying on the moored riverboat was a first. Unique accomodations with an interesting history. Was super clean, desk staff was friendly and helpful. Valet parking lot is a bit of a distance so be prepared to wait a bit for your car, but attendants are friendly.
- 4/5
Not so Much: Carpets need shampooing!! Not vacuuming but shampooing.
- 4/5
Great experience to stay on a paddlewheeler riverboat. Check in was easy, got a coupon for a complimrntary glass or wine or draft beer ( or soda if you prefer). The roo.s are small but very well done, but you're on an old fashioned authentic riverboat. At night the whole boat is lit up, very fun. And there is a bar and nice looking restaurant on the boat too. Highly recommend!

Awesome experience to stay on a historic boat.
- 5/5
Walking to everything we needed
- 5/5
This was an excellent choice for downtown Sacramento. The room was a classic on a riverboat. The meals in the restaurant were very good and service was friendly and efficient. It was an easy 1/2 mile walk to Sutter Health Field where the A's will be playing their home games through 2027.
- 5/5
Unique location and surrounding. Sea lions barking.
- 5/5
Excellent restoration of an historic paddle wheeler. All the modern conveniences in an elegant setting. Comfortable, well appointed and furnished room. Small but more than adequate bath. Good shower and towels, lots of hot water. HVAC worked well. Quiet despite near historic RR museum with active trains and busy Old Town tourist haunt. Efficient and welcoming staff. The Pilot House Restaurant onboard is the perfect setting for a fine meal. Fine views of the river scene, Tower Bridge and close to restaurants, saloons and shopping. Valet parking is $30 per night but other self parking options available in walking distance. I will stay here again.
- 4/5
Small room with low ceilings, but that was expected for a repurposed boat. AC did not work, and it was hot all night. A small fan was in room, that helped. Great view of the river and sea lions. Great location

March 25 5:15 PM. We arrived 4:00. Place was in disarray. Never got our room. Rooms not cleaned. No A/C. Lobby full of unhappy guests. No estimate on when or if room would be ready. Had to book elsewhere. Late to Kings game. AND refusing to refund us the nearly $400 for two rooms. Will never be back!!
- 5/5
Fun to stay on a boat hotel.
- 5/5
It was wonderful. What an amazing boat. We were well taken care of and the dining was wonderful. I highly recommend it.
- 4/5
Interesting environment being on a historic ship. Very small room without a chair. Staff helpful. On the river dining was unique. Right in heart of historic old town, which can noisy on weekends.
- 5/5
Amazing view of the River. Many options for dining. Great staff, very helpful and friendly!
- 4/5
Check in was fine. Room was small. Bed was uncomfortable. Pillows were uncomfortable. Glad we tried it but we don't expect to return.

The reason for 4 stars…I had booked 2 riverview Queen staterooms. I paid for both rooms. When we arrived at 3:30(a little earlier than check in) our room was ready but our friends room wasn’t. That was no problem. All of us went to our room and waited for their room to be finished. We sat at the nice tables and looked at the river. About 5:00 our friend went down to see if their room was ready. They were unsure if the room was cleaned. Our friend asked for the key to check and it was indeed clean. They got to go to their room and it was all good. When we went to their room, we found it was twice as big as ours and had a desk and chair as well as a large bathroom. Our room was so small it was hard to walk between the bed and amouire. If two rooms are booked by the same person for the same night for the same room, they should be the same. I complained, but they didn’t have any of the larger rooms available. Our room #’s were 522 and 430. That being said, I loved the whole vibe and would stay there again!

I had a great time staying here! The boat was surprisingly quiet once I was settled and everything worked great! Everyone was super nice and helpful the whole stay and nothing was difficult about the trip. I would definitely recommend the valet service, otherwise if you park in the garage overnight you will pay for the day again in the morning. I even woke up to sea lions across the Sacramento River!
- 2/5
This place was not as expected. The doors sounded like someone was trying to break in the room everytime the other rooms shut their doors. The shower was terrible. The water pressure was nonexistent and the temperature was changing from hot to cold throughout the entire shower.
- 4/5
Great spot
- 5/5
What a neat experience!
- 3/5
The room was small no microwave or refrigerator in the room and felt it wasn’t worth the money you pay for the room
- 3/5
Old fashioned rooms and appliances. Everything old fashioned and very compact rooms.
- 4/5
This turned out to be a wonderful option for our stay in Sacramento. The paddle boat was such a cool experience. The bathroom could use some updating. It would be nice to have a larger shelf to put our toiletries on. The claw-foot tub has a lot of character, but for seniors, as we are, it was a little worrisome getting in and out of the tub for our showers. Having said that, I loved being on the boat, looking out at the river and watching the walrus swimming and sunning themselves nearby. I did not find their "barking" to be an annoyance - it was part of the charm and not constant. No earplugs necessary for us. We loved being able to walk into the old historic area of Sacramento and went to the museums and enjoyed the restaurants in that area. We had a function to attend in the capitol area and were able to easily walk to that. It was nice being able to comeback for a nice after dinner drink onboard the ship. We had breakfast one morning, and a dinner in the restaurant. The food and service was very nice. The valet parking worked out well. The staff were attentive and helpful. It was a unique and fun stay. Thank you! We would definitely recommend this hotel, and would love to return.

Every time I went out of my room there was a couple making out in front of our room. But the worst part is that the door only worked sometimes, so one of us had to stay in the room or we would get locked out. The poor girl that was working all by herself was able to offer me a different room but after unloading and settling in we did not want to change rooms. We just went to sleep, woke up and left. Even though the door was faulty and we could not come and go when we wanted they could not even comp the $11.97 we were charged for 2 coke cans and one bottle of water. It is a cute room and a cute boat but I will never go there again.
- 5/5
Loved it, the sea lions were adorable!
- 4/5
Very nice for a special occasion!
- 2/5
I didn’t like how I paid for a river view and I was located at the stairs. I was moved to a higher floor, but still in front of the stairs. It was super noisy and the light stayed on all night outside the room. There were no blackout curtains so it was bright all night. The bed was hard as a rock. I expected more for close to 300.00 per night.
- 1/5
I drove from San Francisco, the GPS said Front street and it took several tries to get to old town, impossible to drive in front of the hotel. I was told by web site and oral that valet parking existed. Impossible to park in front of the hotel. overflow of folks on the 16th of Februay you caused me frustation by your horrible instructions on how to find the hotel and that there would be valet parking. not the worst but one of worst experiences of my life
- 2/5
I liked seeing the history of the ship and having the view of the Sacramento bridge was nice. At first glance, the room looked very clean but then I noticed hair on the pillows and hair on the shower wall. Also the bed wasn’t as comfortable.
- 3/5
It was a bit noisy with the seal lions living by the dock.

Highly disappointed with this hotel. Two nights cost me $427. I thought it was cool to stay on a refurbished steamboat but it felt dirty, loud and uncomfortable. Front desk staff were less than friendly and homeless people added to the outside decor. The room wasn't level, sligtly slanted. Imagine using the restroom in the middle of the night. I almost stumbled into the front door. Its like being drunk without drinking.
- 4/5
Loved the valet parking. Main downside was noise.. trains, and seals. Bring earplugs. Always a good time on the Delta King.
- 5/5
The Delta King is an old paddle boat turned hotel. Located in Old Sacramento…tons of shops and restaurants all within walking distance. We had a river view room and it was gorgeous! We will book again.
- 5/5
Great Experiance!
- 4/5
If you're looking for an interesting option for an affordable place to stay in Sacramento, the Delta King might just be your place. The place is older and the rooms are small and you've gotta be cool with sea lions barking (at least the night I was there) but it was pretty fun and plenty clean with good service.
- 3/5
The rooms are small - nothing special. We stayed on the city side by the stairs, and I will say, it was loud until about 11pm with people walking up and down and talking loudly. There were a lot of sounds early in the morning like 2-3am, we heard some lady screaming (could have been a displaced person, which there are some around that area) and cars screeching around. All in all, it’s more convenient than anything and like I said, a unique stay, but will probably consider another spot next time we visit.
- 5/5
I stayed at the Delta King several times and have never been disappointed. The customer service is wonderful. The rooms are clean and not good and it’s comfortable. Customer service is a priority and they treat you with respect and professional.
- 5/5
I loved the view of the river and how quaint the rooms were
- 1/5
Staff was rude and unprofessional. Was charge more than what was quoted. Would not recommend this place
- 4/5
Check in / out was quick and simple The gal who cleaned on my floor was always friendly and if I were around during the day made sure to ask if I needed anything at all. NotSoYay: The water doesn't stay a consistent temp, during my shower without warning the temp spiked, I jumped away from it and touched the pipes the water flows through leaving a good size burn on my arm. Found alternative showers the rest of my stay. When I needed ice I was sent upstairs to the restaurant, 8:30pm, and they were already closed, chairs against door and cleaning inside. Quite loud at night, nothing they can control but you could hear everything/everyone above and beside you at all hours of the night.
- 5/5
We have stayed here many times. Close to railway (wish you had a golf cart to pick us up). Entire experience is like going back in time. Views are amazing. We watched pelicans catch fish, sea lions doze and a great blue heron land on a piling
- 5/5
The bed was really hard, but that’s just me…
- 3/5
The seals were so loud all night, the shower faucet leaked loudly all night and was not clean(there was hair on the shower floor from the previous stay), the bed basically has sheets and not a comforter so it was cold even with the heat up, there is no longer a breakfast included with stay just a voucher for a drink (I’m not to sure when that started) for the price of the stay there should be breakfast included. Overall just not the best stay this time around.
- 5/5
Loved the view
- 5/5
We had a wonderful romantic stay! It’s definitely something you do for the experience not because there aren’t nicer hotels available. The staterooms are cozy but supplied everything needed. We loved walking along the outer deck before bed and seeing the sea lions on the docks and the city lights reflecting on the river. Breakfast at the Pilothouse was delicious. The service was fantastic all around. Location can’t be beat for ease of walking around old town.

Great place

My trip to Sacramento started with my arrival at 6:30 in the morning but my check in time wasn't until 4 that afternoon. About 11:00 I asked if I could drop my bags off and asked if it would be possible to check in early. Angie, at the front desk, could not have been nicer as she checked my luggage, checked me in and said she'd call if a room became available. It was perfect and off I went! The food was good and the bed was comfortable, the rooms quiet and warm. Though the service in the bar and restaurant was great the breakfast was less than I expected with modest portions and some underdone eggs at one point. No big deal. Their coffee was very good. The proximity to all of the Old Town sights can't be beat! It's all either at the end of the gangplank or within a block or two. All the shops and museums and bars are right there!

It is fun to sleep on a boat
- 5/5
Very helpful and warm greeting at check in. Clean and nice historic accommodations. Simple but perfectly located.
- 5/5
The Delta King is a wonderful experience, run like a smooth machine! The staff parks your car, ever so nicely, with instructions to retrieve it when you need to drive somewhere. Valet to Front Desk orders are perfect. The staterooms are a marvel of last century elegance. The food superb in both restaurants. The only critique I would give is please please don't have drinks and snacks displayed at Front Desk. It's ever so tacky, and detracts from the elegance. Other than that, the staff is wonderful and it's a great experience. Stay there at Old Town waterfront instead of a generic hotel. Same prices, but oh so lovely!
- 5/5
We stayed on the river side and I was initially worried about the sea lions being too loud at night but they quieted down and weren’t a problem. The restaurant was also great!
- 5/5
very cute and very friendly staff
- 5/5
Maybe paint the paddle wheel ? Other wise everything was perfect and we are going back for New Years Eve!!
- 4/5
The stay was excellent. The sea lions across the river were a perfect scenery for the waterfront! Attached Old Sacramento. We did the underground tour from the history museum and it was the best.
- 3/5
The Delta King is an Old Paddlewheel Ship, turned into a Hotel. The location is excellent., Located in Old Sacramento. However, the Air Conditioners in ALL rooms were not working. My room way musty and very warm. When I turned on a small fan, there was dust everywhere. NOT HAPPY with my stay there. Not for $242/nt.
- 5/5
Great place, centrally located.
- 5/5
Christmas getaway. So much fun and the Delta King is an amazing place to stay full of history
- 5/5
Great Holiday experience. Festive vintage bar and great food & service. Making this an annual holiday event

First time staying at Delta when in Sacramento. Was excited to try this riverboat hotel. CHECK IN clerk attitude was TERRIBLE ! Absolutely rude and aweful. Have great things to say about bar staff and restaurant staff. BUT Angela at front desk was rudest young woman I’ve encountered in a long time. so disappointing. We walked in and her greeting was terrible. As if annoyed with us. Not a hello or a welcome. Her statement “well it would be nice if you would start by telling me your name”….. I was so taken aback by this rude greeting. It got worse from there. I have traveled far and wide. This young women at front desk was deplorable. Rest of staff was GREAT! Lastly, I went to ask when Valet opened in morning , then asked her name. She said “oh, am I going to get a complaint?”….. I said maybe. She said “ that’s just fine”. Sadly this is the person welcoming thier guests. The room was clean and quaint. Valet good. Front desk needs hospitality training.

Love this floating "hotel." It's my go-to location when I'm staying in Sacramento. There's just nothing like it - with a great view of the Tower Bridge and in the middle of Old Town Sacramento, with lots of quaint shopping, a merry go round and ferris wheel nearby. This isn't just a place to stay, it's an event. Good food too.
- 5/5
Staff were so kind and helpful

Enjoy our stayed
