Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its updated rooms, quiet and romantic atmosphere, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the availability of fresh water, comfortable beds, and spacious bathrooms with spa tubs. However, some guests have noted issues with the staff not always being on-site and some antique furniture being in disrepair.

Very clean, quiet and lovely B & B. We did have significant issues with the reception as our card had been destroyed by the bank and there seemed to be an issue in order to use another card.
- 5/5
We had a great stay the jacuzzi tub was a nice touch for the birthday weekend
- 5/5
Awesome overall! High recommend.
- 5/5
Neighborhood was a little Scary, but the HOTEL was soooo PERFECT & BEAUTIFUL it made up for EVERYTHING!!! Can’t WAIT to STAY HERE AGAIN!!!! USMC Approved
- 5/5
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, very quiet at night.
- 5/5
Always nice to stay here. Very clean and great customer service
- 5/5
Very nice and quiet place.
- 5/5
Very nice atmosphere all together
- 5/5
Friendly staff, great location
- 4/5
Clean, very nice amenities, but our room facing the front and near the highway was fairly noisy from traffic. Also, parked on street across from park was a bit nerve testing after hearing a drugged out girl yelling near our building late at night.
- 5/5
Very comfortable stay
- 4/5
Coffee could be improved but it's a lovely place.
- 5/5
The cutest spot ever! The tu
- 5/5
The rooms are always really clean i will definitely be back its worth the price if you just want a place thats nice clean and relaxing
- 5/5
Our second time staying at Parkside. The ambiance is fantastic, the rooms are charming, the jacuzzi tubs and large showers are romantic, and everything fun in Sacramento is only a short distance away. We'll be returning, definitely!
- 5/5
Very nice
- 3/5
I booked the room for the fireplace and it didn’t work so was kinda disappointed about that. But overall it was fun and nice
- 5/5
An amazing stay overall!!!
- 5/5
Clean, spacious, check in was easy and the staff was very responsive to any questions we had. Loved the room and the spa tub. Will stay there again.
- 4/5
Everything was great, but the walls were thin and our neighbors were having too good a time!
- 2/5
Across street from major park with a lot of homeless walking by
- 5/5
Beautiful place worth every penny
- 4/5
Very beautiful place in central Sacramento. Note - Breakfast is $15 and consists of a bag of items given to you the night before so has, I imagine, something like muffin, yogurt, fruit. Did not get it.
- 5/5
The room was squeaky clean, great service and the breakfast was amazing.
- 5/5
Such a beautiful room. The bath was immaculate. Definitely will be back.
- 4/5
The registry and dining/bar area are in a separate building than the rooms. No attendants after hours. Entry to the room and building are based on code entry. Quiet neighborhood in front of the park. Each room appears to be different. Enjoyed the serenity room with in suite jacuzzi.
- 3/5
The bed was comfortable and the bathtub was nice. The room was clean.
- 5/5
Everything was amazing. Definitely going back. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was so great!!
- 5/5
This is a lovely, quiet place!
- 4/5
I arrived at 8pm, after their regular business hours and the staff was super accommodating and texted me all of the details. With that being said, as a single, female traveler l felt a bit weird showing up, finding the right doors and getting inside at night alone. If possible, I'd definitely try to check in during the normal business hours. While I am not a nervous traveler, my only other concern was that my room didn't have a deadbolt and it felt like anyone with the code could have easily gotten in in the room in the middle of the night. I love unique properties and this one was great! I do wish I would have had more time to explore the beautiful main building and get to meet the staff, next time!
- 5/5
The property was very nice. It was comfortable and had a historic feel. The area around the house seemed safe with a park/playground across the street. I wished there were more restaurants or shops with in walking distance. It was in more of a neighborhood. Not a huge negative but something to people might want to know.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful! We had a wonderful evening! It was everything we wanted. It is a little hidden treasure. If you are looking for a romantic night with your partner, this is the place to go
- 5/5
Well located for downtown. Beautiful property and well-appointed room. Very quiet.
- 5/5
Really pretty room and outside. Everything was really nice
- 5/5
Love it. Will stay again
- 1/5
Property office requires all be done by 5pm. Want you to send a selfie with your id?! Weird. Employee was in a Training meeting and was unavailable until meeting ended which was too late. The deposit was more the room itself. Which I cldnt have Our employee come up with since we cldnt have our company card approved since this was a last min booking. Had to Changed up to Marriott and No Issues of course. Very stressful when in middle of work training, receiving multiple text to complete screening. Better to just go with a reputable hotel that does have so many issues.
- 2/5
Air conditioning was off in August in Sacramento room was hot hard to sleep and super bright from outdoor lights around property that stay on all night
- 5/5
We absolutely adore this place and the amazing, outstanding customer service. We've been in this beautiful mansion and we feel like we're home. We'll definitely come back and stay here again, thank you.
- 5/5
Loved this place. Friendly staff. Clean, homely, large living space. Lots of parking. Walkable area to restaurants, bars and parks.
- 2/5
it should be advertised that this hotel is not ADA compliant. I had to pay $300 and basically crawl upstairs in terrible pain. The receptionist stated that she usually just helps people in wheelchairs manage the two stairs to the lower quality room. That is incredibly disrespectful and I have a wheelchair that is 450 pounds! I didn’t drive five hours and pay $300 for the lower quality room! And I shouldn’t have to risk my health unexpectedly non-ADA compliance should be advertised! I had a terrible stay at your hotel and exasperated my medical conditions by having to walk upstairs. Along with that, the bathroom fan ran all night long and kept me awake. And the coffee machine was broken!
- 5/5
Awesome and relaxing
- 5/5
Such a beautiful mansion and extremely clean! Staff is super friendly and will answer any questions you have which I had plenty of. The room we stayed is spacious and beautiful. Wife and I enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend!
- 5/5
Definitely get the breakfast if you are visiting over a weekend, it was delicious! The space is chatming with photo's of the home in its original state with the original owners. It is beautiful and comfortable!
- 5/5
The place is stunning visually with an incredible history published. We were lucky enough to book the Harmony Suite and another for our girls. The location is ideal and a very easy walk to the downtown area. Excellent service, a beautiful history and an A plus experience. Thank you!
- 5/5
We loved it. A great weekend getaway.
- 5/5
This charming converted mansion from the 1930's is a far departure from the myriad of chain hotels dotting Sacramento. It is situated by a beautiful, and somewhat funky, park and is a very walkable half mile from the state capital in an older section of the city. The current proprietors have done an excellent job of keeping the charm of the old building while updating it for modern amenities. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. If there is any downside, it is the proximity to US 50. As any traveler knows, a good sleep mask and ear plugs solves any road noise, which you really do not notice unless you sleep with the windows open. If you want to get away from the stale, beige of the chain hotels and have a unique experience in something better, this is the place. And besides, if we do not patronize these older, off the beaten path places, history shows they will disappear. I give it a thumbs up.
- 5/5
Neighborhood is a little borderline, however, they offer a parking pass to park directly out in front of the hotel. Access to downtown is absolutely amazing. It took me four minutes to get to my meeting in the morning. The service here is excellent, and the rooms are beautiful. I really enjoyed the whirlpool tub in my room.
- 5/5
Very pleasant, peaceful and quiet wish more time allowed for a longer stay!
- 4/5
Helpful in keeper, beautiful spa. Everything was just about perfect except for some small random maintenance issues. Loose shower handle and floor board. Simple fixes. Well worth the stay and would recommend it. Nice and quiet, close to town. Thank you!
- 5/5
The customer service was very accommodating and friendly. The room itself was very comfortable and clean. It’s away from the busyness of downtown. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

A lovely location and comfortable setting. Breakfast is extra and not a full breakfast until the weekend. Very safe location. Room is excellent with very comfortable bed and spa tub in bathroom.
- 3/5
Too many stairs, staff were very nice, understand this is for lovers not seniors with health problems.
- 5/5
The property was easy to locate and was charming. There were decorative hanging lights outside, which made it stand out. The trees were tall, providing nice shade around the home. There is a secure entry system, which I liked. Inside the home was beautiful, with what appeared to be some of the furniture from the original owners of the home. It was serene, quiet, peaceful. I would love to stay again, anytime!
- 5/5
Great experience all around.
- 5/5
Everything was great. Loved the set up of the room and the hot tub
- 4/5
Just not sure how its classified as a B&B when you have to pay for breakfast and it wasn't cooked it was just a sack of snacks if you wanted, which we did not.
- 5/5
Excellent place! Romantic getaway
- 5/5
I would definitely come again and recommend this olace to anyone it literally felt like home away from home staff was extremely welcoming and had great customer services.
- 4/5
Beautiful inn, elegant vintage rooms, great service. Our only concern was that we had early flights in the morning and the shower wouldn’t get hot. Will come back to take advantage of the other amenities.
- 1/5
I'm spending 100+ nights a year in hotels and doing so for a long time. So far, this is the least professional staff I've seen.
- 5/5
This location was a nice alternative to the traditional hotel experience. I loved that the staff walked me through the property and reviewed the amenities as we went along. Very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Love this Inn. 2nd time staying. The rooms a nice comfortable quiet stylish and warm. The tubs are amazing
- 5/5
Such a beautiful and unique property. We wanted to stay longer! Staff make you feel at home and the accommodations extend to the whole place. Gorgeous lounge and bar area to enjoy as well as a dreamy room/bathroom.

not my favorite

Charming and well appointed.

- 5/5
Minor suggestions: I would have loved the option to buy a soda! (however, drinking the iced water and hot tea were probably better for me!) Also, blowing off the leaves from the patio would have been nice. We would have enjoyed sitting out there despite the briskness! But these are very minor!!
- 5/5
Each room is unique. “Happiness” is exciting and unusual. However it is not recommended for persons who have difficulty with mobility. It is located in the former attic and must be accessed by a circular staircase.
- 5/5
Place was great.
- 5/5
Stunning old Hollywood style property in a beautiful renovated Victorian house as is the style in Sacramento. Beautiful details and furnishings. Room was quite small so a couple or people built bigger might find it too small for longer stays. Opposite a big park and walkable to the mall area and Capitol building if you enjoy walking (approx 20 mins). A few food options around but about 25 mins walk to the closest Safeway. Friendly and welcoming staff and they held my suitcase for me after check out for a few hours. Would recommend.
- 4/5
The only thing that was unusual was the parking, but it seemed safe
- 5/5
Overall a great place to stay!
- 5/5
The rooms are very quaint and nice but the surrounding area is a little sketchy.
- 5/5
We visited Sacramento for a wedding and were blown away by this place. So peaceful and clean. Check in was easy and the attendance was very kind. We will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
It was amazing!!
- 5/5
Clean, friendly, knowledgeable about the area.
- 5/5
Nice place would stay again
- 5/5
Nice property with updated rooms in easy access location.
- 5/5
First Class place. Great place to take your sweetheart.
- 5/5
The staff is not always on-site, though. Except for the bed, which was very comfortable, the room was furnished with antiques. Unfortunately, some of the pieces were not in the best shape. The bathroom was spacious and well appointed with beautiful tile floors.
- 5/5
Second time staying here. Love the experience!
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and the room was great. Will definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Beautiful property, loved the spa bath in the room!
- 5/5
Thank you! &Century was so helpful !
- 5/5
We stayed in the Happiness Suite. The whole experience was excellent. Such a special place, really unique and comfortable.
- 5/5
We had a lovely time at the Inn. The innkeepers are so gracious and welcoming, the room was comfortable and the bathroom is absolutely luxurious! So glad to know about this treasure in Sacramento!
- 5/5
Enjoyed our short stay will definitely be back!
- 5/5
We had a cute room that is opened with a code instead of a key. They provide you with a parking pass to the street. I slept like a baby on their bed. The overall best part though was the bathroom, there were two shower heads for couples to shower and a jacuzzi tub. I melted while taking a long soak. Most relaxing stay ever!
- 5/5
Absolutely loved staying here. We stayed in the Harmony Suite, and it was perfection. It was really quiet and had all the amenities we could want or need during our stay. The staff were wonderful, and made checking in and out so easy. We will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend Inn & Spa at Parkside.
- 4/5
It was a wonderful stay and a beautiful room. My only critique was that there are no spa services available (despite the name) and only having access to breakfast on The Weeknd. Otherwise, it was a relaxing stay and everyone was fabulous!
- 4/5
Place is charming. We enjoyed the location and surrounding neighborhood. The room was very nice. The staff was very helpful. On the downside, there really isn't a "Spa" as claimed in the name. We had been looking forward to enjoying it, maybe book a treatment, so we were a bit disapointed. The spa hasn't been staffed since before the pandemic so it really shouldn't be suggested in the posting. Also, no breakfast available in off peak months. Finally, the room was a bit warm with no way to cool it down (i.e., couldn't open a window or adjust a thermostat).
- 5/5
This is a wonderful place to stay! I’ll tell you more, but I don’t want it to book up!
- 5/5
There is a large park across the street. Busy on weekends but quiets down after dark. Parking is still available despite park patrons.
- 5/5
Very comfortable. There was a lot of attention to detail. They gave plates and utensils for doordash orders or anything else you have. Extra coffee if you ran out. Comfortable temperature setting. Comfortable bed. Friendly host.
- 5/5
Great Place!!! Highly Recommend!!!
- 5/5
We stayed just one night. Hotel was nice, like an old fashioned B&B. Big room, great bed
- 5/5
I never leave reviews unless it was a very bad, or very good experience. I'm happy to say this was a great experience! We loved it! We only stayed one night but I had no idea this existed in downtown Sacramento. It was clean and quaint and just all-around adorable. I will definitely book here again!
- 5/5
Absolutely loved the Parkside Inn. Beautiful old manor house. Room was very large with one of the most comfortable beds ever. Gracious Inn Keeper. Lovely living room with a free glass of wine. The breakfast was one of the best ever. Highly recommend it from a seasoned traveler.
- 5/5
A fantastic large home designed as if were 1940s, but with up to date bed & bathroom. Downstairs it was living history with furniture & decoration. Cute little dining room for weekend breakfast.
- 5/5
My partner and I stayed at the “happiness” suite it was gorgeous!! To the stairs to the hot tube we had an awesome birthday! Front desk woman was very informative and nice! We also got to enjoy a free glass of wine!
- 5/5
The property was great and I definitely will come back. The room and staff were great, my only negative is that it across from a public park and so the surrounding location at night is a little sketchy, but it won’t keep me from coming back.
- 5/5
We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed a delicious breakfast there in the morning
- 5/5
It’s California home of the homeless and junkies, that make everything beautiful, less than. That said once inside everything was done to the nines and the staff were very nice. Will definitely stay here whenever in Sacramento.
- 5/5
We loved this small, intimate hotel; every bit of it! This is our new go-to place to stay in Sacramento.
- 5/5
The room was beautiful and the service was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy a clean and relaxing stay.
- 5/5
Happiness room was amazing
- 5/5
We stumbled unpon this place for our 11 year wedding anniversary and glad we did. It was perfect for romance. We stayed in the happiness suit and it was beautiful with ambiance lightening everywhere. It was so peaceful and much needed. The breakfast the next morning was amazing and intimate. Plus right by the nightlife and freeway without the noise or traffic. Perfect place for relighting that relationship candle. Definitely will be returning.
- 5/5
My stay was amazing. That's literally my dream room. I love staying there!
- 4/5
Beautiful bed and breakfast in an old mansion. Rooms are comfortable. Service was great - anything we needed was dealt with very quickly. The area surrounding the inn was a bit dicey but not too bad.
- 5/5
Excellent stay!
- 5/5
What a beautiful space, very clean & great balcony. I has some work to do with a glass of wine on the balcony. Great accommodations, highly recommend staying here
- 5/5
Very nice
- 5/5
It was an amazing room
- 5/5
Absolutely beautiful rooms. My husband and i went for our homeymoon and it was perfect. We stayed in the indulge room. Loved the Jacuzzi bath, and everything about the room. Staff was amazing, super nice and helpful. Highly, highly recommend this inn! Definitely will be going back there!!
- 5/5
We absolutely loved our stay here! Great atmosphere.
- 4/5
It was exactly what I wanted it to be for my first visit
- 4/5
LOVED the actual building and our room. Probably our favorite room we’ve ever stayed in (we stayed in Happiness). Only downfall is the surrounding area. Lots of homeless people, graffiti, and overall not a very safe neighborhood to be walking around. BUT we loved our room and visit so much, we’d definitely stay here again if we’re in the Sacramento area.

Everything was perfect
- 5/5
Overall this place is a great stay. There’s no breakfast currently and the spa is closed but the room The Happiness Suite was definitely worth. This is will be a place I’ll visit again!!!
- 5/5
My wife and I loved the room, very nice, my favorite part was shower. Will stay there again.
- 5/5
Property was beautiful had a great time, will stay again
- 5/5
The lady at front desk was very understanding, she went above and beyond, she apologized about the misunderstanding and gave me a pick of all available rooms regardless of price. And gave me a complimentary bottle of wine. The room / location / etc was flawless & charming, way better than a big chain hotel, no complaints. Good service is everything, when ppl are good at their job, it makes all the difference. thank you for an amazing stay, we can’t wait to come back.
- 5/5
This was a great find. My wife and I loved our night at the Parkside Inn. We will definitely book again. The staff was great, the room was awesome and the location was close enough to walk places, but not right in the middle of everything which we enjoyed.
- 5/5
Love this place! Will try to be back soon!
- 4/5
The worst parts of our stay was the fact our room wasnt ready until 3pm and the parking situation is bad especially when an event is going on
- 5/5
Good use of technology in a historic setting that is charming with spacious rooms and a comfortable bed.
- 5/5
Loved the light in the room 😍
- 5/5
The room itself is spacious and the ambiance was warm and inviting. There’s a desk, a huge king sized bed, flat screen tv with a tv stand which could serve as storage for clothes as there’s no usual closet in the room. A electric fireplace and soft lighting in the ceiling, colors of which one can change to his/her liking, add a modern touch. Of course, my eyes went straight for the hot tub! The bathroom is most unique on its own. The tub is spacious and jetted, perfect for two. There’s also a separate shower and another fireplace. A beautiful chandelier with soft light gives one that cozy feeling and calls to relaxation. A little unusual is the open layout between bath and living space. Although L shaped, and hidden it is designed for people comfortable enough to not have doors between those spaces. Unusual is good in my book and my husband got accustomed quickly. Tall visitors- take into account this is an attic room, and ceilings may be tricky:) Overall very romantic!
- 5/5
The staff very, very helpful. The location was central to all of our activities. Wife forgot one of her prescriptions at home and there was a Kaiser facility 5 minutes away. Price was right. Thanks again.
- 2/5
A Bed and Breakfast with no breakfast. I didn't know their kitchen was closed down until after check in. Jumped through alot of hoops to confirm stay. I was fully charged one day before Hotels.com stated as to the refund deadline. I was supposed to be charged on arrival, not 8 days before. I was supposed to recieve a text with codes to enter, however I had to call, quite anxious, to receive these codes, later in the early evening. The worst thing of all, the bathroom and bed are in the same room. No privacy when showering or taking a bath, which is right next to the bed. The entire room fills with steam. At least the toilet is in its own closet, however the automatic fan is so strong, that you wake up your husband when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. There is no way to control it. No spa services either. We will not be staying there again. It is clean and pretty, however. Potential, if we chose a different room, there was breakfast and other services.
- 5/5
Pillows sucked but everything else ok
- 5/5
Beautiful place to get away
- 4/5
I'll definitely go back
- 5/5
Beautiful room. Host was the most friendly. Close to restaurants and entertainment. Dream suite has THE BEST shower
- 5/5
Nice property. My wife and I spent the night in Napa and this was the perfect spot to stay over. Affordable, clean and classy. About 5 minutes from downtown restaurants and shops.
- 2/5
The actual suite was extremely small although amenities were halfway decent for the price there’s other places that can offer more space. The property was all around, was not amendable for communal living.
- 4/5
Room is great area outside wasnt the best, but the room itself is great.
- 2/5
If you have heavy luggage good luck getting it up the tiny stair case. Not worth the price, especially if the spa and breakfast is not available.
- 1/5
Very quiet and privacy.
- 5/5
Quaint. Fascinating house and history. Gracious welcome.
- 1/5
People were very impatient and rude
- 5/5
It was a really good stay, no complaints about anything. Comfortable, clean, and very nice. Everything was greet went according to plan didnt have to ask for anything. A few places were a little used such as walls and stuff that need repainted but it was overall great.
- 1/5
So i purchased my hotel stay through affirm and because i did not have the actual credit card since it wad a virtual credit card used through affirm i was denied my stay there. What a joke this day and age where everything is going digital and if they accept affirm throigh hotels.com thry should honor the process
