We ended up having to stay longer after my surgery at stanford and the owner went out of his way to help us stay in the same room. the hotel is VERY clean. All staff is very kind. Will be staying here again.

Room clean but I got problem with ac and i reported and they never checked ac did not work properly and i feel like they ignored my claim in the office

The room and cleaners in itself was great BUT There was a HUGE issue with the male staff there not knowing about a charge on my account from there exact hotel and he himself couldn't even explain where it was coming from. He advised me to call my bank and I did. When calling my bank I let them know of such charges and that the staff could not explain where that charge was coming from apart from the hotel and deposit staying there was an extra $50 charge that I was unaware of. When going to the front desk again to notify the staff member that had told me to call my bank he didn't really like that my bank in fact let him know that there was such charge on my account and he let him know that if the charge didn't come off and investigation would be started for a dispute He then told me to wait a day or two to see if the charges went through or not because he personally couldn't do anything about it which was odd because he was the supposed manager. waited later that night and I did in fact see that the charge was taken out of my account apart from the hotel state I went through the reviews I truly dislike that I didn't go through the reviews and I usually do and I seen that I was not the only one that has been going through this of anonymous charges that they cannot even explain themselves to me this is very very shady business because of the fact that we give these people are trusted information when it comes to our credit cards our name and IDs and they are doing some sort of shady business without our knowledge. I don't understand how booking.com still has this hotel listed as a service provider for hotels I would never in my life recommend this hotel to anyone as it being my first experience here it was terrible BOOKING PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS AND INVESTIGATE INTO THEIR REVIEWS. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH SUCH CHARGERS FROM THE HOTEL AND THEY TRY TO HAVE A SORRY EXCUSE AS TO WHY THEY HAVE SUCH CHARGE!

But seaside from what i would advise them to do and clean the floor. Was a 10/10 spot for the price and would 100 percent stay again when i need it location wise. Staff was very friendly, the bed was comfy, and the shower was good.

The pics of this "motel" do not show reality. This is a semi renavated motel. Not even close to a 300/night room. I was embarrassed when I brought my guest there. The AC worked horrible. Had to borrow a fan from the owners unit. guess they were kind enough for that. No, will not recommend or stay again.

The hotel was okay. However, upon check-in, the staff weren't very friendly. I understand they were dealing with another guest issue but I wasn't greeted at all and while being checked in, the lady only asked for my ID and card, and that was about all that was said to me. I requested maid service the next day and was gone most of the afternoon, upon returning, no one had cleaned the room or replaced towels. Normally, I don't complain but the unfriendly environment upon check in and lack luster service, just felt others should know what to expect.

I can’t believe how wonderful this room was that I had here. It was quiet cool the bed was comfortable. The TV was crystal. Clear plenty of closet. Space I was more than impressed and in fact, I just booked another room for tonight. Thank you LIA HOTEL‼️

I picked it because it looked nice (from their online pics), the reviews were OK, and it was slightly more expensive than other comps in the area. I stayed three nights. No housekeeping. Had to go to the office to get more Kurig K-Cups and didn't get/wasn't asked, so I also needed cups!! So went a couple of days without coffee - one of the few amenities in the room! There was an article of clothing hanging in the closet, and the entire closet smelled like something had died in there. So, I lived out of my suitcase for a few days. They had also turned a small dining room (closet, really) into a very large work environment. The wifi was spotty, which made it hard to do Zoom client calls. Overall, the stay was fine. Nice people. Not sure they get the full hospitality level of service. Not sure I'll be back.

This is essentially a clean motel that is close to a major road and train tracks and does not have good soundproofing. The walls are very thin, you can hear everything and it does not make for a restful night. The pros are the location in the general cleanliness of the property, but the noise factor makes it extremely uncomfortable. Part of the problem is the doors feel very flimsy with a lot of space around them and you can just hear everything. It’s OK to stay here if you are simply looking for a affordable well located motel on the Peninsula, however, bear in mind, you will experience a lot of noise.

Shower was freezing cold. I called front desk, they said they’re looking to get it fixed Tuesday. My stay was for Friday night! They had me speak to their maintenance guy. Maintenance guy said let it run a bit (I ran it for 20 minutes, still not hot, not even warm). Then he said there could be other guests using shower same time (this was at 10:32pm) little concerning if other guests are affecting the water temperature. Just really bad service. But to make their guests wait 4 days to get water heater maintenanced, that’s pretty bad.

Value-based, no-frills motel with secure parking with easy walking to downtown San Carlos' Laurel Street with lots of shops and restaurants. Front reception gave me an early check-in when I arrived. I was there one night to visit nearby son. Would consider for return visits due to overall value and convenience.

This is not a hotel, it's a motel. And though there are some cute photos in the rooms, it is very basic, a little shabby, and loud due to low sound-proofing. The internet was fine, but not fast enough for a Zoom call.

The room was not spacious and not super clean a lot of dust. The furniture is old and the floor not very clean to walk on, the sink in the bathroom was very tiny so there’s no space to put any of your essential stuff.

The positives are that there was plenty of hot water and close to walk to several stores and restaurants. Also parking was free and you could park close to your room.

The room was very noisy, you could people in the surrounding rooms and the traffic from the street. On the Sunday that I stayed, there were piles of dirty laundry outside the door. I understand that many guests check out on Sunday but I really don't want see their dirty sheets sitting outside the window and every time I leave or return to the room. There were some nice things like it is location with many good restaurants and a great grocery store in walking distance. The rooms were clean and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash were very nice. I like that they were kind that were attached to the wall instead of the small, disposable bottles. It had the potential to be very good but was just okay.

My wife and I stayed at the Lia hotel and loved it. We were here for the S.F. Giant’s game and it was a perfect walk to and from the park. It also is so close to Chinatown, Union Square, and downtown. The front desk manager, Vincent was awesome and we look forward to staying there again.

hotel manager was disrespectful and rude! would not give a room on 1st floor, hotel was not booked up, hotel manager handed my credit card back and said (I don't want your business), very unacceptable!!!

The hotel is close to the restaurant row. The property is ok to get in and out of. The room is very average. Beds are uncomfortable. Room had an odor, bathroom had mildew and mold.

It's clean and met what I needed. It's definitely loud. There's some sort of workshop behind the hotel that was running a grinder well past midnight.

Small fridge and small microwave. Short 5 min walk to great dining options. And a couple of nice looking places right behind that I haven't tried yet. The price is often right and I would stay again.

Rude staff. When asked about parking a second vehicle staff said it was against policy. I questioned why this wasnt stated in the policy online at the time of booking. Staff rudely responded "did you call and ask". Location was noisy.

Desk clerk was surly the whole time. The refrigerator did not work properly. There were not enough blankets for the bed, the shower left water all over the bathroom floor even though the curtain was in place.

I think it’s new owners .. I could smell the curry as I walked into the office.. clerk was not helpful or friendly.. door key did not work and had to wait 2x to get new one .. TV did not work Finally clerk begrudgingly came up to tinker with it and it finally worked .. I stayed here three or four times before and it was a good experience but this time I will never go back

Also, it would’ve been nice to have a hook on the bathroom door or somewhere in the room to hang up my robe. But for the price, it was very reasonable and sufficient.

The hotel has a rating of 8.6 out of 10, which is considered excellent, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. It felt old and a bit cheap. I’d give it a 6 out of 10.

The location in San Carlos is surrounded by silicon valley so you got Menlo Park is a few minutes away Palo Alto isn't far San Jose and it's really cute Little Saigon district is lots far at all. I had pho in Little Saigon and then headed to the motel and got a good night's sleep. The shower was by good temperature and water pressure and for the money it was great value. The level of service by the family of managers was just great. I arrived a little late, perhaps a little after 11:00, and they weren't cranky.

I made reservations and paid whole amount . When I arrived the manager of hotel said that they don’t have any available rooms. This was terrible time for me. Because I have never had the same experience. I hope the hotel. come will return my money back.

Had everything we needed for a quick overnight stop. If you’re a light sleeper, noise from other units might be bothersome. Recommend staying on second level so no one is above you. Clean and comfortable and felt safe.

To be honest, I did not want to remove my shoes or sit on any surface that wasn’t wood or plastic. On the surface, the room didn’t look too dirty, just rundown. The tub was stained, we did not use it. The sink bowl was cracked. The pillows on the bed were flat and the mattress was not very comfortable. We could hear the upstairs occupants walking on the floor, dropping things. Someone outside was playing music and the Caltrain was heard. We noticed door cracks. However, the icing on the cake was when we were awakened by constant car beeping at 3am in the parking lot, which then led to 2 people yelling and cursing outside their room on the property until closer to 4am. Unclear what came out of it, but we definitely did not feel safe in the room. Once we were able to finally get back to sleep, which took a while, we woke up around 10am. We slept in our clothes, then noticed stains on the flat sheet facing down on the underside of the comforter…that we slept on!!! We took images and video of the entire room/contents as past reviews indicate they were falsely accused of damage or theft. Needless to say, this was the worst hotel experience of my life.

I asked if i could check in early, he said it would cost me $20.i looked at him and " said this place is empty, why would i waste $20... ill come back" I returned at 3pm he checked me into a room that hadnt yet been cleaned. So i went and ran some errands , since i had my key now i figured Id come back.in a bit. I returned at 4pm and my room still wasnt ready for me. The pictures make the room look a lot more modern but when i finally was allowed into my room the dresser was some 20-40yr old wooden dresser. The bathroom tile is atleast 35 years old and the vanity sink had a crack in it. Very disappointed in the service and the overall property

Immediate surroundings are nothing to talk about, but it just a few minute drive over to a very cute part of San Carlos with good restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is cute and clean. I would come back.

By far the most comfortable and luxurious bed of any property in its price range I have ever stayed at. The king sized mattress, half dozen pillows, and comforter were all generous and soft.

At 10:00pm as we landed in SF after a long day of travel, o got a call from the property stating" Your reservation is canceled, because there aren't any rooms available." I am sorry, isn't it the point of a pre paid reservation? I tell you I will be there on a certain day and you have a room available? Especially when i pay for the room up front. I my many years of travel, domestically and internationally i never had this happen. TRAVELLERS BEWARE!

Cute room! Very soft sheets and good pillows. It’s also a safe area and the street behind has restaurants and shops.

The property is relatively cheap, and you get what you pay for. I booked the "inspiration" room, which was supposed to have a whiteboard. Instead, it had something that looked like a blackboard, but with literal black paper - so I did not risk writing on it (and there was no chalk). I also was unable to sit on the desk chair because it was broken - not sure why they keep it in the room.

Bathroom could have been cleaner. Hair in the tub and small black flies everywhere.

The room was very nice. Especially for the price. Walkable. Some very nice restaurants within walking distance. Only thing I didn’t realize was that the showers only had soap bars and no shampoo. But other than that great.

Did not feel safe staying here with my toddler. Hotel does not look like the pictures online. Room was dirty. Very loud location. Can hear cars driving constantly. Hotel is run down. Lamp shad was dirty. Floors were dirty. Table was dirty. Shower looked dirty. Very disappointed. We ended up leaving and not staying the night. We went to another hotel. We asked for a refund but we were told there’s no refunds even though we weren’t in the room for more than 5 minutes. There are plenty of better hotels in the surrounding area. Don’t go here.

This isn’t a fancy hotel (gym, cafe, etc), but it checks all the boxes for a nice clean safe place at a reasonable price.

Sink was falling off the wall, poorly maintained. Sheets and bed linens appeared to be clean...this is about the best I can say about this place.

This was our first time here (visits to Stanford Medical). We chose this hotel because it was $100 cheaper than the place we normally stay. It was very basic but suited our needs.

I found this hotel on a travel website. The location was great with easy walking to food, entertainment and shopping. The beds and bathroom were clean, but the floors are filthy. The floors appear to be linoleum and had not been mopped with a clean mop. My room had a kitchenette, but the table had something dried on it. I had to buy disinfectant wipes to wipe the table and floors off. It was a disappointment for sure. The parking lot was also full on a Friday night, and we had to create our own parking spot one evening. I was not happy with the security as the deadbolt on the door was all that kept the door secured and could easily be breached. The lack of cleanliness and security would prevent me from staying again.

Man at checkin was surly. This place is a motel, not a hotel. Got the last possible parking space. Linoleum flooring not pleasant to get out of bed onto. Way too close to train tracks - NOISY! Furniture was shabby and chipped. They did not have fitted sheets on the mattress. Flat sheet was just tucked under about 2” along with top sheet and blanket. So bottom became untucked while getting into bed. It was a rumpled mess in the morning. Seriously, get some linens that fit. No responsibility of the hotel but neighbors above were stomping around at 6am.

There was a cleaning rag left on a table in my room. Somebody’s food was left in the refrigerator. Also, they need to turn up the water heater. I basically took a cold shower.

My boyfriend and I planned for this trip and this hotel was very affordable and nice for our stay.

We needed somewhere to stay while visiting my baby brother at Stanford. I had accidently reserved for 3 nights instead of 1 and the property manager saw that we had just come from the hospital and did everything he could to help. The room was very clean and the staff were extremely kind.

Would not stay there again. very confusing on trying to find the property because there are (2) 950 El Camino Real addresses. My GPS took me to the first 950 El Camino Real address and it was an abandoned building. I was tired and rather shocked. I called the phone number for the hotel and it went to a recorded message that said I had received a non-working number! We had drove 3 hours and was pissed! We kept driving down El Camino Real, decided to find another place to stay as I contacted my bank regarding the charge for LiA hotel, as I thought the LiA hotel didn't exist. Right about then here's we see a sign for LiA Hotel! We pull in and I explain the other '950' address, and I can hardly understand him! Something about a different zip code. Then I proceed to tell him about the discounted phone and he shows me his phone showing that I had called! I just wanted my room so we could relax and get some sleep! What a ridiculous ordeal!

Lia Hotel delivers every time! Clean, good shower pressure, microwave, fridge, and parking included.

Our check in was not late but the female staff seem irritated. Overall the room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The area is quiet and nice.

This place did not seem clean to me &I felt very uncomfortable because of that. Looks like they tried to do upgrades but there was a lot of damage to doors, floors etc. I would not recommend this place. One good thing was location near downtown & train.

Look nice in the outside, room was clean except there were 4 small flies in the bathroom. I had to kill 3 flies and the 4th one was high in the ceiling I could not reach 😖 closed the bathroom door.

I have stayed here 3 different times and will he back. Very clean, bed is comfortable, shower has hot water with pressure. Iron is clean, microwave, refrigerator, good lighting and includes parking. Staff is nice and check-in is easy and quick. I highly recommend!

I was very impressed by their room options, particularly with what was basically like a having second room which was essentially a mini boardroom with big desk, 4 office chairs and a big wall mounted monitor in addition to the big bed and T.V. in the main room area which also had a lot of horizontal surfaces area to set stuff down on. I will definitely stay here again. Excellent, polite hosts.

I’ve stayed at hotels all over the Bay Area, and LIA Hotel is my favorite. It’s a family run hotel near lots of dining options. It’s very safe and very walkable. Free parking. It’s very clean and I love the art theme and quotes that adorn the walls.

It was ok for the most part but when we were checking out they come to check room out for the return of my 50.00 deposit . We had went to a benefit concert on the train to SF and my friend tripped and busted her lip on the way back and was trying to get lip to stop bleeding with a wash cloth from room. It had been rinsed out but had traces of blood and they deducted 10 off of my 50 deposit for the one washcloth. I was appalled that they did that.

The LiA hotel is conveniently located near the San Carlos city center/walk street…parking in the courtyard is easy and usually available. Those are the good things. The bad things are that the walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbors and the people above you if you’re on ground level. We were there for a week and there was loud music most nights. Probably won’t be back.

I liked everything about the LiA hotel. The proprietors were pleasant and personable. The price was reasonable, especially for the area. The room had a coffee maker, a microwave oven, and a refrigerator. Lots of hot water in the shower. There were many restaurants within a short walk.

The first room I got had a super loud heater (I mean louder than a car engine, it was clearly broke) and the guy at the front gave me a bit of an attitude, but I shut it down quick by telling him "I'm not here to argue. You just give me a different room. And you should've had that fixed before you gave anybody the room". Other than that, it's pretty good. The new room they gave me is fine.

Nice staff helpful , but the rooms were filthy. The floors need some serious cleaning and conditioning, I had to keep my shoes on the whole time. Light switches tables all dusty and dirty. Shower was clogged. Although the staff was nice this was enough for mento never come here again

The roon window's blind opens to the path way so it can not be leave open without being seen from outside and if you close it, the room becom very dark. Also, this is a motel not a hotel.

Stayed for my son’s football tournament, left at 6am and accidentally left my favorite water bottle. Called 10 times throughout the day and they never answered once!!! I drove back to the hotel when the tournament ended so I could go ask if the housekeeping had found anything in my room and they said nothing was found and they couldn’t (wouldn’t) be able to ask them till the housekeeping came in the next day???

I love this place because the price is right! It’s old, somewhat dumpy, but very inexpensive. I am comfortable (except when it’s garbage day and the trucks in the alley wake me up before 6). But that inconvenience is worth paying $100/night.

Clean and nice staff. Room was really small but ok for one person. Towels were scarce but it was a decent place to stay.

I so appreciate the efforts to turn this old motel into a place with some charm and style. I appreciated the design of the tile on the floor and the updated bathrooms between the loud heater and the traffic on El Camino, and the train, it was very hard to sleep. it didn't help that the smell in the room was not pleasant. We even used a candle to help improve the odor. I wanted to like it and feel the art vibe mores but it just was a bit of a dump. Sad but true!

Seriously horrible customer service. Had to cancel the morning of our arrival because my boyfriend was very sick with the flu. What can we really do? Not our fault he got seriously ill. They would not let us cancel without penalizing us. The full cost of the room stay.🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕zero mercy!!!!

We stayed there before a procedure at Sutter San Carlos which was very convenient. However even though the front desk person was great and put us in a quiet room, with it being so close to the rail tracks I could hear the trains all night. Not a problem if you live in a city but noisier than where we came from.

Nice place for a guys trip to watch sporting events for the weekend.

Tv broke and staff said they wereg going to fix it but never did. Next day guy working gave us another room with a smaller bed. Floors and bathrooms were not very clean. Would not stay again.

I stayed for 7 days and was told at check in by clerk that maid service is once every 3 days . I didn't get service at all my entire stay had to reuse same towels. When i checked out at the end of my stay i complained to front desk about this issue and she said she didn't know why that happened and apologize 😔 . And i was ok with it until they charged me my deposit plus and extra charge! And wen i called in to inquire why this was front desk girl told me her maid said the towels were damaged and they had to throw them away. And wen i explained to her that i was the one that complained about not getting maid service for 7 days she apologized and said she didn't realized it was my rooom and that she would give me back my deposit and i thanked her and went on with my day.....and then 3 days later i find out that she recharged me my deposit.......very disappointing that hotel was located conveniently to families and friends when im intown for the holidays.....very unprofessional and the maids very bad experience........hope it changes !

The bed was comfortable and bedding was clean. The bathroom could use some upgrades, however its clean and usible. This is how they keep costs down. I will definitely stay again for business travels.

Overall, the facility was clean and well maintained. The only thing was, seemed like the tile floor in the room was not as clean as I thought it should be.

Perfect for my needs. The limited staff interactions I had were good, the hotel felt safe and comfortable. The room was clean enough, not spotless but nothing glaring and gross was missed. I'll stay here again.

The location and price were good. The front desk was friendly and helpful when I needed to request a new coffee maker in my room. One very noisy evening on Saturday night/early morning. Not sure I will return. You get what you pay for!

The staff at the front desk was very nice and got us checked in early morning. There was free parking on site which was great. The walls are extremely thin and you could hear everything outside. If you are on the ground floor, be prepared to hear everything the upstairs neighbors are doing. You could hear every footstep, creak on the floorboards, and every door opening and closing. Besides that, the property has everything you need

Great little place to stay but there are workers with white trucks staying every night laughing and talking ing the parking area. There was also a train that past about every hour.
