Also, not all pool-vew hotel rooms true pool-view as some are blocked by the ledge of the building. At the 5th floor, my pool-view room is half blocked and the remaining half was the 5 freeway. Staff didn't seem to be aware of this so moving a few rooms down from 528 to 522 did not help as the ledge extends throughout that side of the building. The silver lining - at least the chocolate cookies were still readily available and pool was well maintained. I had fond memories of this hotel from previous family travel but this stay definitely did not reflect that.

For the price I paid, I wanted a better experience. The food was mediocre, the hot tub didn't work the first day, AC didn't get cold enough, toilet didn't flush well, elevators took forever, and house keeping never cleaned our room. Additional charge to park seemed excessive. The pool was over chlorinated and hot. The first floor bathroom had no toilet paper. The staff was friendly though and the cookie and bottle of water was appreciated.

Great location, great front desk staff. Cleaning staff does not change bedding or clean rooms daily. One day cleaning staff barged in at 4 pm to give towels after knocking two times and room had a rusted fixture in the bathroom and hole in the wall by HVAC unit.

The room and hotel were clean, but the ac wasn't working. It would run and blow out air, but it was warm air even when we turned the thermostat down to 65 it stayed the same. It was stuffy and made it hard to sleep.

Location Dirty, smelled like vomit. Bathroom had hair that wasn’t ours, parking lot and street was being paved. They charged me to pay in the parking lot but there was no parking and I ended up parking in a bank parking lot across the street and they still charged me. I asked for my money back and a female got attitude w me saying they had a deal w the bank which was not the case. I won’t ever be back.

For the price of the breakfast, I was very disappointed. The eggs, bacon, sausage were cold. An adult only gets one free child breakfast. So I had to pay $12 for a 5 year old who ate a bowl of cereal and an additional $12 for a 7 year old who ate 2 pieces of bacon.

The room reflected a poorly maintained facility. The shower faucet handle fell off every time used. The hot water required turning on the shower five minutes before it turned hot. The faucet was improperly installed - cold was hot and hot was cold. A safety bar outside the shower was missing. All in all, the condition of the room was in need of some attention.

Staff was incredibly friendly at check-in! We were only there one night, for other reasons, than a vacation. But we often have to come to that area. We have stayed at other hotels nearby, but this one the best! Will return in the future.

I hadn't been here since they were in the middle of the remodel. The remodel overall looks good but what you miss out on with that change means paying even more than you would expect to pay. Not only is parking $28 a day now, but now their breakfast is not complementary and you have to pay $25 per person for their breakfast and the options are not worth the cost. Overall the price for breakfast, parking and the room charges are just a little over the top to have minimal amenities. Yes there is a pool and a hot tub and seating, as well as a 24 hour gym, but in all honesty for 2 nights and paying almost $600 was a bit outrageous on top of parking. Parking should be included in the cost or it should be offered when booking. You also have to pay a $100 deposit fee, which yes is returned, but again these are all fees and charges that shouldn't come up when you have prepaid and feel you shouldn't have to continue to put money out. All these hidden fees are why most customers will charge back the charge back to the hotel because of one reason or another mentioned. Even being a Hilton member you still need to spend a large amount of money in order for it to even pay off.

Nice property. Pool was heated which was a plus since it was kinda cloudy. There was some construction going on in the parking lot and it was a little tough to find a spot in the evening. Other than that, it was a great stay and would definitely come back

We would stay here again, for sure. The location is very convenient and in the middle of San Diego. There some old fashioned designs in the hotel room but it was clean enough.

Hot water did not work in room shower. Called to ask it be fixed while we went to dinner, and front desk said it would be fixed. Next day when we woke up I went to take a shower and it was still broken. No hot water. Called again told front desk we still had no hot water. It took over an hour to get it fixed making us late starting our day. When we checked-out we complained and they did not charge us for parking for one day. We spend far too much time trying to get hot war for our shower.

i am surprised at the level of deterioration of these facilities. I happened to stay at two Hilton related hotels in the last week i am surprised to see how these facilities have been ignored and ran down including the rooms, somewhat outdated, lamp hanging by a wire the window where the pool view is very dirty, dirty carpets, however i do give it to staff at the doubletree in Del Mar they were courteous and super friendly

The pool area was very clean. The hotel was clean and the staff was really pleasant. We did not eat at the hotel so we cannot comment on the restaurant experience. The location was perfect for nearby hiking trails and San Diego and La Jolla side seeing.

Housekeeping barged into room with do not disturb sign. Checkout was at noon but they made a mistake. Then falsely charged for “taking a water bottle” from the room, at checkout. Never took a water bottle plus I am a gold member which allows free water bottles. Victoria at front desk was rude and kept arguing over $3 which I never took. Customer service very terrible. Will not stay here again.

The bed was horrible! We were so sore in the morning that we didn’t even end up doing what we had planned for the day.

(2) The breakfast spread was no different in kind or quality to the free breakfasts found at at best western or holiday inn express hotels-- scrambled eggs, assortments of small yoguarts, make your own waffles, selections of breads and ceareal. Double tree chargred 25 for that breakfast buffet. (3) We were offered a delayed checkout to 2pm ( typically a free courtesy offered if requested). Doubletree wanted $25 an extended checkout. As for regular cleaning, there a noticeable blue paper trash in the hallway when we arrived in Friday and it was still there when whe left on Sunday morning.

I stayed here last year and loved it but this time around no no no, the parking was terrible, the room we got assigned to is the first time was dirty an half the electricity was out in the room, the room new room was good but was very old wallpaper coming off in the bathroom near a pipe there was dark spots visible from toilet seat, the bed was springy in certain areas I felt like you could feel the actual spring,again I usually loveeee staying here it’s just the weekend was such a bad experience I’m not sure if I’m goingi to give a another chance until I ask if certain I stayed at before but I feel I shouldn’t have to because everything should be the same throughout the hotel

As far as service, we were disappointed. For example, we had gathered all of our trash in one paper bag and left it for easy pick up. We came back later to find it still there. No cleaning had taken place. They made the bed, refreshed the towels and left the floors and table with crumbs, and the couch and furniture in disarray. The parking lot was ridiculous. All of the lines had worn off and people were just parked at random. So no matter how much room you tried to leave so you weren't to close, someone would just park too close. If they are going to charge you almost 30 bucks a night to park, at least repaint the lines. If it was cheap, I'd be more generous with my review, but it's not. They seem to be banking on the reputation of the brand. Very disappointed, I do not recommend staying here.

The staff was great. The shower didn't work properly, neither did the AC. Charging 14.00 for wifi in 2026 is laughable; as is $28.00 for parking in this area where there is nothing but concrete. $200.00 per night; thankfully only there for 1 night. Do not stay here.

Breakfast was not included in the booking. When tried to add breakfast for additional cost, the sales team quoted $58 per person for breakfast, but checking with the restaurant I came to know it was only around $17 per person.

I usually love to stay here. However I booked a room for my employee and he came back one day to other people in his room. He had to remove his items and go to the front desk. They then gave him a new room. They were so unorganized they tried to look up the reservation and say he checked in Wednesday when really he checked in Tuesday and the incident occurred on Thursday. They did not offer anything until I called and made a point to say how unacceptable the situation was. Only offered to reimburse one night. Will never book there again.

This place was pretty basic, nothing outstanding. It served its needs. Coffee in the room sucked, the little machine is a joke, coffee ends up tasting watered down. What kind of hotel doesn't offer free coffee in the lobby? The staff doesn't communicate with one another if there is a change in the room status, we almost had to move rooms because of a miscommunication or lack there of in the change. Plus, the young lady was very rude about the situation until she realized she was wrong. My biggest complaint is the charge for the parking, what a joke!!! $28 a night for a lot they don't even monitor or even a space that might not even be available.

Not happy with my stay . There is a continental breakfast what they don’t say on site is that you have to pay for the breakfast $15 a person. The parking is a joke there is no room to park the garage is is about a 2 block walk to garage and it’s dark at night . My room smelled like mold horrible. Over all most horrible experience

Sam and Donnetta were so nice and helpful doing check-in and through out my stay. The pool area is beautiful at night. So quiet and relaxing in the jacuzzi. Outdoor bar seating with a fire pit, a view to watch the games and have a drink. In regards of my room it was okay. Double beds, small refrigerator, complimentary water, coffee maker, safe, iron and ironing board. Room needs a few cosmetic upgrades. Housekeeping staff was nice and pleasant. Parking is available with limited space by the hotel, the garage is not that far. Did have to park by the garage one night. There’s a shopping plaza in walking distance, with a few food options and grocery store. Next time I visit San Diego will definitely stay here.

Everything was outstanding except for the daily $28 parking fee to park in the hotel parking lot, which was simply an outside lot that we've parked in for free for forever.

All went well. Everyone was super nice. Bartenders were professional. Room was clean and in good condition as expected. The only disappointment was the fact that the cafe was not open for lunch on our departure.

Rude front desk. Made me wait to check in while she stared at me in front of the computer. Didn’t help me until a white client came in and she called on him.

Upon arrival to the hotel we were welcomed by a rat in the main lobby. Staff didn’t seem this was a big deal and kinda ignored it. Coffee shop was out of certain milk and lids for our hot coffee cups. The Bautista was incredibly apologetic and handled the situation with a great customer service skill. Having breakfast at the restaurant, felt like the waiting staff was not that much attentive, maybe working short staffed or just tired, almost halfway through the meal we needed to ask for water , and few small things that were missing or needed attention that unfortunately were not recognized by the wait staff. Otherwise the stay was fair. Nice property with a fun pool. Calm .

Conveniently located closed to torre pines preserve/beach and children pool (our primary destination) … room was good quality, and nice, affordable food option in less than a mile. Stay was very good at affordable price point.

Breakfast was typical but with many options and the staff was great, especially Ruby.

Breakfast says complimentary but it is not you must pay everyday. Also you have to pay to park and finding a place to park is a nightmare. Our room was musty, hair stuck to the ceiling in the shower. The tub would fill with water while you showered and then take 30-60 min to drain. Our door key stopped working every time I left the room. I needed up having to get 4 replacement's. The elevators were sketchy and would get stuck on a floor and the door wouldn’t open. Everything just felt gross. And the pool closing at 10pm is way too early. Overall terrible experience, but we loved the pool, what little time we got to enjoy it.

This property was super clean and the staff was super nice! A great safe location as well only 9 minutes from Del Mar beaches and 16 minutes from la jolla! The only reason it is a 4 star rating is the $28 a night parking. When I originally booked the details said "free parking" upon arrival we were astonished that there was a $28 a night parking fee. I would understand if the hotel was in a busy area but it is not. It is in a low traffic corporate area and they have their own big dedicated parking lot. To me it is clear that the property manager is being greedy and attempting to make money.

Where do I even start? Our booking promised EV parking which of course was a lie bc they don't actually offer that. Instead, they charge $28/night for parking which is criminal considering the parking lot was full on both nights so we had to park half a mile away in a parking garage. We had to change rooms TWICE because the rooms were so dirty. Stains on the sheets, crumbs on the couches, stains all over the bathroom floor, toilet seat with hairs on it, hairs on the shower walls, rust on the lighting fixtures, wallpaper peeling off the bathroom wall & musty smelling carpets. Not only that, the mattresses are insanely old box-spring mattresses. We're young with no back issues & we could hardly fall asleep on the mattress. The first room had such an old mattress, that half of the box spring seemed to be depressed. When we finally got transferred to a new room (third room), while it was cleaner than the previous ones, the mattress was still horrible. For a place that charges as much as the Hilton, it's INSANE that they’re clearly using the cheapest mattresses that are probably over a decade old. Most of the staff seemed to gaslight us and would make it seem like no one has ever had any issues. I would ALMOST believe it if not for the fact that as we were complaining to the front desk, a family walked by and immediately told the staff "the new room is better, less of a smell. I think it's the old carpets”. We ended the trip early because of how gross the room was.

This location is a great place to stay. Quiet and clean, a great place to sleep in peace and comfort. A minimum distance drive to popular SAN locations, but easy to connect since HWY is close by. The staff is friendly, and so are the housekeepers very helpful and attentive. Felt very welcome, and the cookies were an extra plus. It’s definitely a yes for me!

Big size pool with a hot tub including a splash pool for the little one’s. Food was just ok. Not the best, but convenient to order or eat from the property restaurant if you didn’t want to drive anywhere. Breakfast was nothing special and it’s not free. Wished they had more food options. Our room was a double queen pool view. Plenty of towels in the room. Only problem was that the closet light didn’t work, remote battery was low and the shampoo bottle was out.

They charged $28 a night eventhough parking lot was under construction. Had to park a ways away. Breakfast was not what was advertized. Asked front desk for extra towel it never made it. Will never stay there again!

Staff is really informative. Good location if you’re planning to explore Torrey Pines, Del Mar, and close access to freeway. Got around the main attractions within 20-25 mins. Parking was bad

Room was clean, pool was great and yard games were fun, weather just didnt coorperate. Location was about 10-15 minute drive to beaches. Breakfast was good, pay ahead if you can. Not really any family friendly resturants nearby.

Room was great, super comfy and location was very convenient. I enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant downstairs each day of my stay. My only complaint is that the elevator was slow and often very crowded, it seemed like they only had one running at a time. The button for the right elevator on the 5th floor didn’t seem to be working at all. Overall I enjoyed my stay and felt it was good for the price I paid.

The room we stayed at smelled like dirty feet but they let us check in early so we didnt ask to get switched to another room ( we were going to be out and about most of our stay so we just stayed in that room.) The air conditioning doesnt seem to work well. I dropped it to lowest setting (60 something degrees) and room still felt stuffy and a little warm at time but again we were mostly there to sleep. Last night when we arrived, no parking. We had to park in a parking garage about a 10 min walk on 3rd floor. There is definitely not enough parking in front or side of hotel and the off site parking was a good walk away. The biggest and most concerning problem was the bed bugs and the way the situation was approached. Housekeeping came and took bugs (2) in a cup and left. Upon checking out my parking of $28 a day was waived. I feel the whole stay should be refunded. This is disgusting. The bed bugs was crawling on my daughters chest.

Breakfast was way overpriced and the parking was terrible. I called for room service and they didn’t answer for almost an hour. For the area they were in I think the cost was too much. I would not recommend paying for parking because it was always a hit or miss.

Stay was nice, close to everything. Nice pool hot tub. Staff was ok, continental breakfast was good only down side stop sticking well before ending time 10am. You cannot bring outside food and enjoy by the pool which was not good. Other than that we enjoyed the stay.

My daughter and I had terrible allergies the entire time and I developed a terrible rash on my arm and face.

The gym was out of service and were not able to use it and when we checked into our first room, there was a lot of stuff that was broken. However, we did show up and fix it, but we had to be relocated because the AC was sparking.

Only one item that needs improvement is the parking lot situation. There is no parking during Saturday nights and the parking width is too narrow that you won’t be able to get out or inside your car if a car is parked beside you.

Unusually nice mid-range chain property with beautiful outdoor area both near bar/restaurant and pool, sizable clean quiet room, and super friendly and accomodating staff. Decent hotel restaurant open til 10 pm was appreciated given my late arrival on a very long travel day. Good breakfast in the restaurant costs extra. Parking was a bit of a problem on a Sataurday night because the hotel was full and one of the lots is being repaired so I had to park somewhat far away in a near-empty "parking structure," but pricy fee ($28) was waived for my trouble.

When we first checked in, they say they did not have any connecting rooms like we request, but they did give us two rooms next to each other. When we went up to our rooms 1 of the room was already occupy by another party. When we went downstairs to tell them, they gave us the wrong room all of a sudden they were able to honor us a connecting room for the troubles. After we got a room keys, we went upstairs again and this time one of the key wasn’t working to one of the rooms so we had to go back again for the third time to the front desk. The pool was dirty and not heated.

They did respond by message through the Expedia app. Also, the smallest parking spaces ever! Nightmare parking lot. The room and staff would be 5 stars otherwise. Great value for the area!

The staff was great but the hotel wasnt. My door and toilet was broken. It didnt even have an area to do online work (most places have an office area). The worse part about the hotel, they charged for parking per night. I expect to pay for parking in a downtown or beach area. This was off the highway near corporate offices.

Bathroom showing signs of age. Surprisingly worn for a Hilton. Small but annoying, the shampoo/soap bottles are in the worst possible spot in the shower. The parking charge is very steep and not enough available parking. I have never stayed at a hotel that charged for coffee in the morning. Has a great pool, and the beds were nice.

Our stay was terrible here never come back, we had issue with the lock for the door. We have ran out of toilet paper. Management was aware about the issue and had not done anything to solve it. They had the nerve to give us some cookies. The gentlemen at the front desk act like he did not care. I wish I had is name. Overall again I will never come back here again.

This hotel is gorgeous and I was happy to stay here. I was attending a concert nearby at the Del Mar racetrack, which was only a short drive away. The room was very comfortable and spacious and I had a great night’s sleep. I would highly recommend!

The amenities are minimal at best. Room decor is dismal and depressing. Zero soundproofing! The walls are paper thin. Awful! You can hear people next door just talking normally and kids screaming outside at the pool all night. Parking is a disaster! Charging $29 a night to park in a lot, and then it’s a tiny parking lot without enough spaces. The spaces are so small that every large car was taking up two spaces! Overflow parking is a very far walk.

This hotel and the rooms are great. Very clean unfortunately the staff and check-in process was absolutely terrible. We were assigned a room and swiped. Our car to go into the room and there were other people inside the room that were assigned the same room. Being three young girls checking into this room. It was very scary. Thank goodness, we walked in on a family and not older men. It could’ve been a very serious situation.

After some mix up due to our flight being delayed, we were able to enjoy our stay immensely. Staff was very kind and accommodating. From the front desk to the restaurant staff and housekeeping. Comfy clean room and a fantastic staff! We had food in the bar evening in the evening and Sean the bartender was awesome! Breakfast was great and the staff keeping it up were so nice. Only real complaint was that it looked like only one elevator was in operation and there was a long wait time. Overall though we would definitely stay here again.

The check-in was great. Payton was friendly and gave us delicious cookies as a treat. The mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable. One of the hand towels had hair on it and there was hair in the bathtub.

The hotel is in a good location and the lobby was nice. The room was dated and the bed was not too comfortable. The bathroom door was the worst design possible. It was so hard to open and close the door. Also, the ac was so loud that it kept waking us up throughout the night every time it turned on. I would not stay at this hotel again .

It’s as if they give Expedia customers the rooms they wouldn’t give customers who paid on their website or in person… The tub faucet was twisted to the right causing water to get on the side of the tub when you go to take a bath and the light in the closet just flickered when I tried to turn it on I had to use the bathroom light for lighting in the closet I took pictures and videos

Room was renovated and clean. Bed and bedding were great. The bathroom door was super hard to open and close. Bathrooms need some renovation but overall good hotel. Proximity to Torrey Pines is priceless. Staff was super nice and helpful.

This was an overall amazing stay and truly loved the staff and how kind they were and the ability to bring our furry family member with no issue.

Water in shower was cold, front desk staff helpful but never heard anything back from the manager after repeated requests for a return call. Daughter was scheduled for surgery early next morning so we had no choice but to take cold showers. May not sound too important but with stress and illness it didn’t help.

The hotel is rundown inside and the power went out while I was getting ready, and this hitehas no backup generator or power plan, so the room was completely dark, shower water was freezing, and had to use my phone flashlight to get ready in the dark, and it also made me late for work. I will never stay there again.

The front desk staff were professional and kind at checkin. Always greeting coming in and going out. Very nice entry and lovely restaurant and pool area. We did not eat at the hotel so not sure how the food was. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms on the other hand are old, outdated and in need of a rehab. Marks and stains on the walls. The bathroom in particular was old and dated. The tub was obviously caulked over and over with signs of mold as well as the sink. The toilet ran constantly unless you wiggled the handle. The pocket door was heavy and hard to open and close. We spent most of our time at the Marriot across the street with family.

Equipment was left in my room upon check in, the room for a Hilton, is run down. There was a fake eyelash stuck to the telephone cord. A coffee straw on the floor by the floor lamp. The outlet on the bed blew the second I plugged in my blow dryer. Hair pieces on the shower wall. The ac didn’t blow cold.

bathroom, and two of the bathroom vanity lights were flickering off intermittently - we didn’t request for these to be fixed during our stay because we didn’t really stay in the room during this short trip. Room was quiet and check in and out was quick and painless. Elevators came quickly coming and leaving our room on the 5th floor.

We had a great stay at the Doubletree. My only recommendation is for the hotel provided toiletries to be restocked. There was none available in the room that we stayed at, and also the cleanliness of the restroom can be kept up a little bit more. Otherwise it was a good stay.

I refer to the restaurant as the "Chum Bucket". It is a small afterthought aside from the lobby. The place has maybe a smaller menu than a Del Mar roach coach.

The hotel was excellent- about 25 years ago. Now it is beat up and poorly managed. The plumbing in our shower did not work and was only partially fixed during our stay. We came back late to find our room was not made up and had to use dirty towels picked up off the floor. I recommend staying somewhere else. We certainly will.

The room was nice and roomy. The air conditioner unit is on the wall vs. on the floor which allows for more floor space. Bathroom is large & supplied with body wash, shampoo & conditioner. Ice and water bottle refill station in a plus for families there for sports tournaments. 10 minute drive from Surf soccer complex was a plus. Would definitely stay here again!

During breakfast, staff hunted down my son because we assumed breakfast was free, which felt completely unnecessary and humiliating. The room was dirty and neglected, with dust covering surfaces, sheets full of dust, and bites all over our legs from the bed. When I raised these issues with the manager, my complaints were disregarded, and the room was never properly cleaned. Given the misleading advertising, poor hygiene, and lack of accountability from management, I will not be staying at DoubleTree again.

Property needs renovation and upkeep. A lot of things were unserviceable from the phone in the room, to the lobby restroom, and a water heater that went out temporarily. There’s a $28 parking fee which is egregious considering it’s just an open, shared parking lot with other office buildings. Worth staying here for short duration at a budget rate. For vacation recommend looking elsewhere.

What I appreciated most was the attention to detail and the level of service — anytime I had a question, the staff was quick to help with a smile. It really made a difference. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant, hassle-free stay. I’d be happy to come back again!
