Bath tub was dirty and slippery.

Staff and room was good. Ceiling was dirty for some reason. Looks like dirty footprint. We like the little kitchen and fridge. Breakfast start and end too early. Water was expensive. Overall location was close to a lot food and 18 mins from UCSD.

I drove from the Bay Area I called the hotel around 7 or 8p letting them know that the drive was taking longer than expected and we would be check in late and to please note the reservation just in case you are not there. She simply said okay took my info and that was it . Now we get to the hotel at 3 in the morning to be told our reservation has been canceled due to no check in or card on file . I let the front desk know I called to inform you that we would be arriving late. She said she started a 11pm and there was no note so it got canceled! She was able to get us in a room … but overall It was a very frustrating experience. I will not book here again. The room looked like people with dogs just stayed in it. Hair on the couch ,covers and bathroom. Bathroom walls were dirty … oh and My lint roller fell on the floor and let’s just say it was disturbing ….. long human hair ,dog hairs , dirt , and sand . Are theses rooms ever vacuumed! Never again!

It’s in a good location. Very spacious rooms with a full kitchen - can cook in it if needed. The elevators were being maintained so only 1 was working.

The location of the property was perfect for our San Diego family trip. The room was clean. We had to wait an extra hour to check in, we were also waiting and they had rooms Ready for people who got there after us. We asked if our room was ready and the lady at the front desk forgot we were waiting. That felt very unprofessional because we were stilling there for 45 minutes.

The ac/heater in the room did not work. The room smelled like a locker room. This was a great property a few years ago. The condition and maintenance of the property has clearly declined.

My check in time was at 4 pm and I was not able to be let in into my room until 5pm.

I stayed two nights and I absolutely loved this hotel. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel was quiet and had lots of amenities (gym, pool,...) and common spaces available for relaxing. Breakfast was included and offered a good choice overall. Located close to a commercial area, it offers a good variety of food options at walking distance. Extra points to Skip at the front desk, such a welcoming, helpful and pleasant person to interact with! I would not hesitate to come back in the future.

The housekeeping policy appears to be limited to once-weekly service and guest turnovers, and unfortunately, it shows. The high-traffic areas, specifically the bathroom and kitchen, were in poor condition upon arrival and did not feel properly sanitized. The noise level was overwhelming throughout the stay. The walls and floors provide very little insulation, meaning I could hear everything from the hallways and neighboring rooms. The property seems to cater primarily to utility and construction crews. While it may serve as a functional base for workers, it lacks the comfort and upkeep required for a family trip or a relaxing vacation. I would not recommend this location for leisure travelers and do not plan on returning to this or similar properties.

Front desk staff were amazing. They were kind, super nice to my toddlers and even got a rose and a cupcake for mother day. Thank you for making our experience so great.

It’s a great quality room. The kitchen is cute with nice appliances. The room smells good, the bed and pillows are comfortable. It’s ima shopping center which is convenient if you want to eat out and get some groceries. I will stay again!

Great staff, great ambience and great breakfast

This is our go to location whenever I visit my daughter in Mira Mesa. Hotel is very clean, staff is friendly and helpful and the breakfast is well above average. Price isn’t bad for San Diego and there are plenty of dining options. The only issue, very minor, is that the TV was placed in such a way that it could not be watched easily from the bed or the sofa.

I really loved the room and hotel. But what makes it a 4 star is that we only had see through curtains. We were in the first floor and if people wanted to look in and have a good stare, they would be able to see through the thin white curtain. Also the TV was not a smart TV so we could only watch cable TV. Other than that, 5 stars for everything else.

Only 2 complaints from me. Microwave was "broken" and had to call service to have someone take a look at it. Toilet gasket needed replacing so the toilet was constantly flushing water. I'm a light sleeper so it was more annoying than I would have hoped. Besides that everything else was good.

Well…. I’ll start by saying. Usually I love these Sonesta Suites this is my first not so good experience with them. We checked in it was late about 10:30pm. I got a room that was pre booked and when we got up to the room, it was a mess and smelled like mildew or pee, something nasty!! Turn on some lights to see that, what looked like housekeeping started and never finished!! Bedding waded up on the floor, pillows scattered around, trash cans propped open the cabinets, floors filthy etc etc. I used the room phone to call the front desk. Told her what I walked into, and it was like no big deal to her, like an “oh well” in her tones. We had to go back down to the desk to get another room assigned, this one was made up and mediocre. The floors weren’t vacuum and the hardwood and tile floors were sticky. We were disappointed but by this time it was around 11:30pm and we were tired. So we dealt with it. Not what I was hoping for, for a not so cheap weekend stay.

Great property. Really enjoyed the outdoor patio area. Cornholenwas fun. My only suggestions would be upgrading the TVs. The quality was very poor and not a very good selection of channels. Also; no jacuzzi which was disappointing, but other than that this property is perfect

Our room was not available after our check in time. We had to wait nearly two hours for the room to be cleaned. Traveling with a newborn and a toddler and having this inconvenience was rather frustrating.

There's too much to complement and only if the kitchen vent hood could improve, shared laundry machines can be cleaned properly everyday then it would be PERFECT. Can't find anything else to complain. I highly recommend this hotel and definitely will go back if I ever visit San Diego.

Staff was nice, but the room wasn’t ready at check-in time & wasnt cleaned very well. The tub was clogged. Breakfast was alright. Be prepared to pay $10/night for parking and $75 for bringing your dog. But it was very nice to have a 2 bedroom room.

The overall size of rooms TVs need to be upgraded. They only had cable tv. Would be better if had a tv to watch apps like Netflix and Disney +

When we arrived we noticed dried up fried rice all over the bedroom carpet. We had mushrooms growing out of the carpet near the closet in the bedroom. All doors really need a good wipe down. Hallways were pretty dirty and we walked past the same trash and food pieces on the carpet for an entire week. A bit disappointing overall.

The ac worked great, we got so cold we gad to turn it off. We had two bedrooms and bathrooms, mostly quiet. Clean and comfortable. However the hot water in the main bedroom didn’t work, but did in the other.

Our room and stay was amazing. It was clean, our kitchen had everything we needed and it was very quiet! The breakfast was delicious and they kept it going pretty steadily! Our beds were so comfortable! We will definitely be coming back to stay.

We were travelling with young kids and although this was a bit away from main attractions, driving was easy to get to and from all of them. Pool was awesome. Proximity to food and amenities was close and convenient. Staff were great and accommodating. Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately, there was a daily parking fee to park in the surface parking lot.

The location was convenient to go around to anywhere that we want to visit. The hot breakfast was great, my kids enjoyed the pancake and overnight oatmeal. The noise coming from the car vacuuming business right outside the hotel. The hotel has been renovated, however the bathroom in the suite wasn’t not part of the renovation, there could be some updates to it.

I liked that the facilities were clean . The staff checked us in right away and gave us a run down of the hotel . Everything was super comfy for myself and family. The kitchenette was super helpful as I have a baby so washing and preparing bottles was easy. I also like that it was close to lots of restaurants The only thing I didn’t like was that it was located right in back of a car washing business .

Property was clean and well maintained. Was close to the marine base which was my reason for the visit. Many stores and restaurants in the area. The room was nice, spacious and very clean. The full kitchen was great for cooking and they have grill if needed. Staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. I will definitely come back if I'm ever in San Diego again.

Check in and out times, could be better. Although they accommodated me for an extra price. Coming in to do the fire sprinklers was kind of off putting on my 5 day stay, but they also were able to push it into later in the day. Car wash is annoying at 7am. Over all, would stay again so that I could have a kitchen, and a somewhat 7/10 experience.

The rooms were a perfect size. Enjoyed having a variety if options for breakfast. My child enjoyed the pancakes.

When choosing this room based off reviews, foe a family trip (2 adults and 2 children) I realized people were very generous with their reviews!!! The grounds are beautiful, and there is a nice pergola with some tables and chairs that make for eating outside enjoyable. The pool is small and is "heated" There was garbage under one of our beds upon arrival, and we were told at checkin that they do NOT have daily housekeeping, so if you need more towels to call the front desk. I called the front desk on day 2 and asked for more towels. I was told there was only 1 person working and I needed to go get them myself. The TV channel selection is beyond less than par (all news channels minus 5 stations to include the weather channel) Breakfast was decent but is only till 0830 during weekdays. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the 4th floor. Minimal noise inside, but there is a gas station with a SUPER LOUD car wash running 24/7 in the adjacent parking lot. Not a fan favorite, and will not stay again due to the inconveniences.

The clock did not work stove top did not work the alarm clock was not working. If you tried to enter the building side entrance between the hours of 1600 and 1800 the door did not work. If you wanted fresh towels you would leave your towels in hallway but you had to go to front desk to get replacement since they did not clean rooms

Our room number 247 is great. We had a good time. The bathroom door hinges needed to be repaired as some screws are coming off. The room is clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff and guests are friendly. We enjoyed our stay and will consider coming back again next time.

The suite was incredibly clean, quiet, and spacious enough for the whole family. Having a full kitchen stocked with all the supplies was a lifesaver for traveling with kids—it made mealtime so much easier. We also loved the "yummy" breakfast every morning and the super friendly staff who made us feel welcome. The location is unbeatable, being so close to downtown and great restaurants. We loved it and highly recommend it for families!

The air conditioner is so loud we had trouble sleeping also the toilet ran off and on all night. That also caused restless sleep. We didn’t complain because we were super busy and didn’t have time to address it. The staff was great. The breakfast was great. Their room was clean. Everything else was fine but good sleep is most important to me in a hotel.

Everything was fine, except for breakfast. They use powdered eggs. Scrambled eggs look grainy, and it didn't taste like eggs. Turkey sausages aren't appetizing either.

There was some dog hair in the room. And the bathroom sink ran very slow. We had to stop using it and let it drain from time to time. Most of the front desk staff was very friendly, polite and efficient. The breakfast staff man was very friendly, polite and efficient and nice to us. The food was very good for breakfast except all versions of eggs tasted very artificial. The hard bow legs were rubbery like you bought them from Costco, pre-cooked and made and peeled. The egg circles tasted like cardboard. There was one egg thing where it was a little bit yolk, and a little bit white you could see and that seemed more natural. There was a cool looking Corvette in the front lot for a couple days that was fun to see. We actually got used to and liked the noise from the car wash, it made the place seem livelier. My wife used the Treadmill every day. It was great, but the exercise room was extremely cold. We asked the front desk to warm it up, and she was so nice and tried to with a bundle of keys, but we don't think she had the keys, and she said she would have to wait till the maintenance man got there at 830, and then maybe he could change the thermostat. The elevators were fast and efficient. It was nice to have the complimentary newspapers there. Available to us. We were desperate to eat something after hours.One night and all I could find was a Jimmy Dean egg sausage bowl in your food area by the front desk and it was frozen. Cooked in our microwave it was delicious.

I’m just speechless.

The room was clean, the staff was nice. The only thing I didn't like was that the "upgraded" two room suite with a kitchenette was right next to the public laundry room and the facility's own laundry service. During the daytime, I don't mind the noises, but some guests were still banging around in the laundry after 11:00 p.m. I really didn't consider the room to be an upgrade.

The floor was unclean and located behind the refrigerator. Additionally, it was dusty under the sink. I am dissatisfied with the fact that the rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis. Given that I had young children, I required the floors to be mopped and vacuumed regularly. The front desk refuses to accommodate my request.

I had dirty towels piled up for my 4-day stay! I had to request trash to get picked up! I had small children whom dropped crums and had to be without mopping sweeping or vacuuming. I do these things every sy home yet these people only every 7 days mind you I paid over 1200 yet the room and services were not up to expectations.

The hotel had gym and laundry facility and the cleanliness is good enough . The only downside for me was fewer options for breakfast . Since we are vegetarians and were staying for a longer duration, I had requested for some vegetarian option instead of the daily bread, it was taken care of for 2 days but then it was the same non veg options everyday. Apart from that , everything else was awesome. Thankyou Sonesta ... for being an important part of our memorable stay in San diego💕💕💕

BUT the kitchen needs more kitchen towels, a sponge for each booking because the dish brush was dirty (hair in it) it’s not sanitary to share with past guests, we needed dish washer detergent or pods, non were provided, the tub was clean but it’s pretty stained. The outdoor area is very nice and cozy, loved the fire pit. Again staff was wonderful and the Chef is the best!

the area of hotel feels safe, it’s located next to a small plaza with supermarket and restaurants so it’s very convenient, the room was big and as shown in picture. Breakfast was nice, and staffs are helpful. Overall we enjoyed the stay and will come again!

Front desk was super friendly and helpful! Room was very clean only weird part was they came and shampooed the carpet during our stay and the floor in the room was a bit damp. Other than that we enjoyed our stay!

Pretty good place overall. The facility looks weathered inside but close to a lot of food and ucsd. Has on-site laundry, but it cost 6 dollars per load to wash and to dry. Parking is not free. Breakfast is really early so a bit inconvenient..from 630 to 830am. They don’t clean every day. Just every 7 days. You can leave trash and towels outside your door for refresh but it can be unsightly.

Staffs are friendly and very welcoming. This will be our new favorite in San Diego.

Staff was wonderful. The room was a perfect fit.

Beds were supposed to be 2 queens and a king, we had 2 fulls and a pull out bed. When we questioned the staff they guaranteed us the full beds were queens. They were not. Sleeping was a bit rough, since we had planned our trip around larger beds. Had to buy a blow up bed to make it work. Room had fingernail clippings and old guests items not previously cleaned up. Breakfast was top notch though. Staff was friendly. Pool are was fun for kids. Patio area was nice to stretch out.

The first thing we noticed is how loud the car wash in front of the hotel is. We couldn't hear each other talking while outside. Our room didn't feel cozy and welcoming at all. Although the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was meh. Toilet seat needed to be replaced or fixed. Every time you sat on it, the lid would hit you in the back. The tub was showing it's age and WTH with the towels? It felt like we were using kid size towels. It was nice to have a full size refrigerator and kitchenette. But definitely not worth what we paid. We won't be staying there again.

We had a problem with the shower in our room but maintenance was able to fix it on the spot when we saw him in the hallway. We will look to stay again when in San Diego!

The hotel is located next to a car wash, which operates around 7am to 9pm - it wasn’t a problem for me as I’m an early bird, and generally you couldn’t hear much noise if the windows were closed. Close to freeway access and easy to get around by car.

I booked this property for my older parents to stay for 4 days. The property was undergoing mandatory carpet cleaning which was a slight inconvenience as there wasn't a set time on when they would come to the rooms. After they finally cleaned the floors, the door to our room would not close properly without getting stuck and making a loud noise every time it closed. The tub in the room was dirty upon arrival and we were told at the desk they wouldn't be doing any additional cleaning unless you stayed for 7 days or more. Breakfast was good but only two hours, early 630-830. $10 parking per day. We loved the outdoor space they offered in the back, but when it became 10pm, the doors locked and there were several other guest besides us stuck outside and had to wait on another guest (not staff) to let us back in. We also had an issue with other guests that were loitering around the property. They didn't physically do anything to us, but their nature was offensive and made my family so uncomfortable on their last day that they said they would never stay at this location again. We are people of color and they were not and I will leave it at that. I am disappointed with their experience as I have stayed at other Sonesta locations and recommended this stay for them but will look for somewhere else next time they visit. Do not recommend based on our experience.

Our stay here went very well, my girlfriend and I stayed 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay. The suite was great, everything was very clean and we really appreciated the complimentary WiFi and breakfast, which was also quite good. Beds and pillows were comfortable and the AC was fantastic, overall our stay was great, and we’d definitely come back!

Upon checking in at the front counter there was a stack of guest notices with an alert that major carpet cleaning of the rooms was on going. When i asked about it I was reassured that it wouldn't effect me or my room. When i was assigned and given the room key i found that indeed the carpets were all wet, and had to recollect my things and call downstairs for another room which was done, but found that room to be slightly dirty. Not a pleasant experience.

This is a nice hotel with kitchen and fridge. They offer free breakfast & the options are good. They change them daily. The staff is nice & friendly. The tv doesn’t have Netflix but you can connect your phone to it to listen to music.

My family stayed in a hotel for a week. Overall hotel is good and staff are friendly. Breakfast was very good. Just one thing they need to improve, cleaning room service. They said if I want they clean room I have to make a request for cleaning. We stayed for a week and went on a beach everyday. We checked in on a Sunday, I did request Tuesday evening for Wednesday cleaning, on a Wednesday they said I am on a list on Friday, when we come back on a Friday from beach, room wasn’t cleaned. On a Saturday they finally cleaned room after I went to front desk and talked to them. On a Sunday we checked out. I had to go to the front desk and ask for clean towels every day, because they don’t change them. I hope you will improve room cleaning service, but overall hotel is good.

Staff was very friendly and courteous, made sure we were settled in and our stay was comfortable. I did not go for a vacation rather for medical reasons and feeling comfortable being away from home was great. Thank you to the entire staff

Only issue was the bed was just steep and it sunk in the middle haha. there was a tiny eyelash on a pillow, nothing major.

Bedrooms were nicely clean, everything you need was in the room. Breakfast was delicious. Check in,out was a breeze.

Everything was fine with the stay. But we got over charged and this is the second time i call and they seem dismisive when it comes to fixing it.

Hotel is behind a gas station and carwash. Very loud, not quiet as described. Off of a busy main street and the carwash made it worse. Talked to 3 staff members abt it, no one helped or offered to make things better and could not accommodate room change.

The staff here was amazing especially Miranda, at the front desk. She was kind, funny and just so welcoming. Went above and beyond for my little kiddos and us. Would definitely stay here again! Rooms were nice, spacious and smelt so clean. Beds were comfortable.

Hotel is at a convenient location to get to downtown San Diego and great food options. It was a bit noisy and parts of the hotel does need some updating.

The place has living, kitchen and separate bedroom. I can say that it was a pleasant experienced. It was within walking distance to a strip mall with plenty of fast food to chose from. I loved it, you don't need to rent a car which is now a days very expensive loaded with a lot of fees. I just used ride share to get around.

While entering the room put my 11 month old down to stretch from a 10 hr dr. to turn around and see him with a syringe he found under the tv stand. Under the couch was the bloody tube. Was paranoid about the needle being anywhere’s but the gentle man got us another room. The other room floor was sticky and reeked of per. We were so tired we just kept the room. For we were only there to sleep. Gentleman checked on us which was very nice. Switch over on staff to a woman that never answered any of our calls and when I got a hold of her she said for me to go to the desk instead of calling. She was rude. My husband that was unloading the car said that she was there talking to a guy looked like her boyfriend. For her whole shift he was there chilling with her. Terrible service. When the same guy came back we’re relieved.

We stayed in this hotel for five days and were very satisfied with the quality of the hotel. The hotel also held a free lunch to celebrate National Day. I have recommended it to many friends. I will stay here again next time.

The bathroom door was crooked on its hinges and had issues closing. The entire hotel is obviously understaffed and the staff are overworked. The dishwasher was not installed properly and has major gaps around the side with visible screws in poorly painted wood 2x4s. The bathtub was stained and the “recent upgrade” is some paint and new furniture.

Checkin was quick and easy. We had a two queen suite on the 4th floor. We asked for restaurant suggestions and were provided chain options. Our tub stopped working the first day and we had to call a repair person to come replace reg tub valve. Quick turnaround. Breakfast was pretty decent. You could just tell that a lot of the property needed updating or refurbishing. Long black hair in my shower. Just meh overall.

The room was updated recently. The only complaint I have is the carpet smells. I could smell the unpleasant odor when I was sleeping.

We got the suites with the king size bed. The suite is very spacious and clean. We also used the sofa bed in the living room, it is comfortable. Breakfast is provided every morning. Very close to highway and stores. Definitely will come back next time.

A disappointing Stay at Sonesta ES Suites San Diego-Sorrento Mesa. At Check In we had arrived a little earlier (2:30pm) than the 4 pm check in time and were told our rooms (2 of them) were not ready yet but one 'could be' at 3:30 with a $40 charge. We had a business function in that area to attend so we agreed to the $40 charge and all of a sudden one room was ready (why couldn't we jut get into it a little early then?). The room was spacious which was nice and there was a nice kitchenette with large refrigerator (very nice to have). There was garbage (filled bucket and more behind it with fast food things) under the sink area. There were NO hangers or hanging rod in our other room! I have never see that before in a hotel closet! Disappointing!

I was not aware I was being booked in a pet friendly room. My daughter walked around with just her socks for a bit and when we were getting ready to head out for a bit I went to put her shoes on and discovered her socks covered in pet hair. It was a ridiculous amount of hair. We told the front desk and they said they’d come clean again while we’re out. There was still pet hair on the carpet. I was more upset due to the fact that we had our newborn with us. Probably not the best idea to have carpet in pet friendly rooms. I also wish they would have told me it was a pet friendly room. I would have preferred a non-pet room, but I didn’t ask.

The gym is also quite stuffy and has poor ventilation. It would be nice if there was a thermostat to lower the temperature. Otherwise, the bed and rooms are comfortable and mostly clean. I did find a ball of human hair in my closet. And the staff is very helpful and professional. I would recommend if you're okay with noise while sleeping.

The 3 bed suite was a great size for families. The pool was dirty with bugs and debris. Opening the microwave made a loud sound. The toilet seat in one of the bathrooms needs to be replaced as it is all scuffed up. There was also a roach in the tub. Was expecting more of the hotel.

We had a great week staying here. We wanted somewhere bigger than a hotel room, however still getting value for money. This was our first visit to San Diego, the location of the property was great, north of the city centre but every where was accessible via car within 30 mins (including the outlet shopping mall on the border with Mexico), additionally right next to the property (and surrounding areas) are shops, restaurants, and fast food outlets. We had a double bedroom suite, it was a great size for us (2 adults and a child) with a kitchen area that enabled us to eat in as well as out when we wanted. Breakfast was included and my son loved the pool and went in it everyday. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. While it has a 3 star rating we would not hesitate to return here, as it suited our needs and provided a great base to explore San Diego and the surrounding areas.
