Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness, comfort, and spaciousness of the rooms, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. The hotel's convenient location and good breakfast are also frequently mentioned as positives. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the quality of the breakfast, the lack of daily housekeeping, and the $25 parking fee.
- Clean, comfortable, and spacious rooms
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Quality of breakfast varies
- No daily housekeeping

The air conditioning was so loud and ran pretty much all night, switch off for 20 seconds and switch back on. Made weird clicking noises turning on and off which kept all of us awake. The property was pretty clean and the staff were friendly. The sleepless nights were the only problem.

The perfect location and the best place to stay and enjoy San Diego
- 5/5
Great location, centrally located in Mission Valley for us as we were visiting La Jolla, Mission Bay,, Point Loma, the Zoo and Old Town. The staff were extremely friendly. Room was clean and housekeeping did a good job stocking towels for the five of us. Plenty of options at breakfast too.

I happened to stay here when they had scheduled a water repair during the night that required shutting off water to the hotel from around 11 pm to 5 am. I was impressed at how well they communicated this, both through advance emails and when I checked in. I also compliment the front desk staff, especially Aurora, who went out of her way to help me with a mistake in my reservation and ensure that I had what I needed. Ultimately I never noticed the water going out but I did appreciate the spacious and well-furnished room, the helpful staff, and the clean and well-maintained hotel.

Nice facility, and good location. Keep up the good work. Several breakfast items (sausage and eggs) on multiple mornings were delivered fresh from the kitchen area, but they were cold.
- 5/5
Breakfast was super good! The staff was super nice & the rooms were very nice!
- 4/5
Nice & spacious room. Comfortable bed. Shower was great. Enjoyed the breakfast but on the weekend it’s way too busy and food needed to be replenished. Did not like that there was no option for daily housekeeping. Our trash was overflowing & had to pile up towels in the bathroom. Location was convenient.

Convenient location, comfortable room for our family with 3 children. Extra bed (sofa) with bedding. 1,5 baths. It would be nice if there was a kids’ step stool for the sink.

The staff at this location are so friendly and welcoming. The location is near stores and eateries. Very close to the freeway and excellent public transit. This location has a great gym and pool. Our room was spacious and we appreciated that the toilet room is separate from the shower room. Breakfast was good and offered a good variety of food. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and family. No complaints.
- 5/5
Very comfortable suite and bed. Great customer service and excellent breakfast. Totally enjoyed and recommend.

- 5/5
Clean room. Good breakfast.
- 3/5
The hotel staff did not explain the cleaning staffs schedule. My rooms shower floor was dirty and the shower handle mechanics were broken couldn’t turn the water on or off to take a shower had to call maintenance . I also think breakfast is too early. Currently 6:00am until 9:00am. Should change to 7:00am until 10:00 am
- 5/5
additional, the location is perfect for most of resorts,

The staff was extremely helpful and the property was very clean.
- 5/5
The breakfast menu was fresh with great options and the parking felt safe. Staff was very attentive.
- 4/5
We always stay here when we’re in the area because we usually have a good experience. We stayed there twice in the past 3 weeks and our experience was not as great as usual. The AC made a lot of noise in the first room and the shower entrance door had a separation from the wall meaning you could see the person showering (not great for self-conscious teens). The nightlight which can’t be turned off was annoying and reflected against the sliding glass door expanding the effect. The shampoo and body wash make skin dry. The mirror coating was peeling and looked old and tatered. The toilet was leaking water and it dripping all night didn’t make for a good night’s sleep. The breakfast which is usually really good was meh. No waffles which we usually enjoy, the eggs and potatoes would run out and take forever to be replenished. The cereal was also mostly empty. That being said, the oatmeal had several toppings to choose from that were tasty and the room was clean and the bed comfortable.

- 5/5
We highly recommend this Location!
- 4/5
Hotel staff is friendly and hotel is located in business area.

Room was clean; layout of the room was spacious. New, more European bathroom design. Only critique is the bed was quite firm.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Everything was pleasant and the staff was very friendly.
- 5/5
Great service from staff. Enjoyed my stay.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, quick check-in, spacious room, and very clean! Great place to stay!
- 4/5
Breakfast was amazing but the rooms had a smell of dog urine and the beds were horrible the most uncomfortable I ever slept in
- 3/5
Overall nice stay, but a few things to know: Breakfast was difficult to access as very crowded and out of options. Parking charge is nuts. The pool is outdoors, so seasonal. Staff was nice and friendly. I’d say 3.5 out of 5. Nice area, easy highway access, lots of options for fiod and shopping
- 3/5
Only issues I had was AC was leaking, so rug underneath was wet. Notified hotel staff and they could not accommodate a new room, so they offered extra towel to place under. Other issues was when I checked in, staff asked if I wanted cleaning service the next day, which I stated and did, and they never came. Other than that, hotel is clean, breakfast is decent, nothing special, but helped save money from having to get breakfast some where else. Room was clean, but we did find a random sock as we were clearing up our things by the couch.

Very nice, spacious room.
- 4/5
Comfortable and clean hotel. Good location, plenty of parking available. Breakfast was a nice large selection, but the egga and sausage well, not a group favorite. Overall, it is still a place we would definitely go back to
- 4/5
Nice room . Pretty clean area
- 5/5

- 5/5
Great property close to everything. Friendly staff.
- 4/5
Theo was the perfect place to stay to visit our daughter attending San Diego State and still be able to work while she was in class. I do suggest ear plugs if you are in a room on the highway side and the breakfast needs some improvement. We will stay agin.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay! Room was great for a family. Everything was clean and hotel staff were very friendly!
- 5/5
We are beyond exhausted for our dog needed surgery and we drove 2 hours for him to get surgery in San Diego. Maria at the front desk was SUPER KIND and so understanding and really made our day by helping us to the room sooner than expected. She asked if we were hungry as well and made sure we were OK. We truly felt like family here.
- 4/5
Good place, nice people and very good service. They clean the room every other day and i think it should be every day. Except the cleaning every thing was great.
- 2/5
Room had a slight smell of cat urine, coffee pot was not cleaned from previous guest, nor was the bathroom as there was hair all over the floor and shower was dirty.
- 4/5
Everything was great. My only issue was weak water pressure in the shower and one sink did not drain well.
- 5/5
Pleasant stay!
- 4/5
Good location nice area close to shopping and good breakfast
- 3/5
On the positive side, there are a lot of dining options just a couple of minutes away down the street. Staff was very nice. Room was well maintained and clean.
- 5/5
The location of this property was very conveniently located by food and freeways. Room was spacious and very clean. Cleaning staff was always around. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. Didn’t use the pool but it looked nice.
- 5/5
Clean, spacious, comfortable I love this hotel
- 5/5
We stayed for 4 nights and the food option every breakfast is the same.
- 4/5
Little noisy from the freeway
- 5/5
Like the room
- 4/5
Our stay was very nice!! The staff was very nice and helpful!!!! The room was very clean but the bed was not very comfortable could use some new mattresses!!!!!
- 5/5
Very comfortable hotel
- 5/5
The only thing I did not agree is the $29 charge of the parking .
- 5/5
Good experience
- 5/5
The hotel is nice and the room is good. It’s just with the price I paid the room is smaller than I expected. I know it’s not right if I compare the hotel in San Diego with hotels in Las Vegas but I didn’t feel comfortable that much . The suit of Venetian Las Vegas is double size and for me is free in there 😝
- 5/5
The property was spotless, and the front desk people were incredibly friendly and helpful. They offered us a curated list of suggested restaurants (with feedback from the staff). Pool was very nice - heated, outdoors, with (small) pool towels available at the front desk. Location is fantastic - and is right next to a Starbucks! It was an easy 15 minute drive to the Zoo, Target/Ralphs, La Jolla and downtown San Diego. Breakfast was so-so - pretty much what you'd expect for free. They only do freshmade waffles on weekends at this location. Room was clean, and everything was working great. Parking was $27 per night, which seemed excessive - the location is off a highway and it's unlikely anyone is parking there other than hotel guests, so it felt like a money-maker. Sofa bed could use a new mattress and was small, but otherwise, was comfortable. The staff and location were the best features!
- 5/5
Nice and quite
- 5/5
It was perfect for my needs. I took 3 grandchildren on vacation. One of whom is autistic. She seemed very comfortable there for being in a strange environment. The room/property was clean and accommodated my 5 perfect (2 adults, 3 children). The continental breakfast is what you expect (they haven't really changed over the years, lol). But, the kids loved the independence/experience of it. I loved that I didn't have to rush and chase breakfast down for them. I would definitely recommend it. And, this property will be my choice of stay on any future San Diego visits. With or without the grandchildren. Thank you for a comfortable and safe stay!
- 4/5
Clean and friendly staff ; hated being on the first floor
- 4/5
Rooms need an upgrade similar to front lobby. Pool was clean, heated and enjoyable! Items at the market are definitely overpriced ($3.25 for one cup n noodles is insane) but definitely convenient. Parking was not gated but easy and on property, $27 a night. Breakfast was not my favorite, not many options and ends way too early. Was going to use dryer but $4 a load and all quarters, however there was no machine to convert to quarters. Stayed 3 nights, 4 days with small children.
- 2/5
Housekeeping completely disregarded my request for a clean room full charge, but they did provide towels.
- 3/5
We paid over $600 for two nights, and this hotel felt like a 2-star establishment. The breakfast was mediocre, and the juice machine was broken. The bathroom was very small, and the room felt cramped. We won’t be staying at another one of these hotels again.
- 2/5
Our room had food debris and socks from previous guest on sofa bed. Staff couldn’t change our room due to hotel being sold out. Staff offered to clean the dirty sofa bed. The mattress on sofa bed was worn and thin. Had to have my adult son sleeping with me and wife on bed due to uncomfortable sofa bed. Breakfast area trash can was overflowing. Breakfast staff closed the breakfast 10 minutes before closing time at 10am. Food was no longer replenished by 9:15am. Couldn’t believe this was a Marriott property because we received a less than expected brand standard services.
- 3/5
The breakfast wast not good, pork patties looked undercook and tasted like rubber, no bacon available not much to choose from. Mattress from sofa bed a bit stained!
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay with children. The pool was perfect and the small and clean cozy feeling really ties in with the amazing hospitality of the staff as well.
- 5/5
Great place, clean and friendly staff!
- 5/5
Friendly staff. Everything was close by
- 4/5
Hotel staff, room and breakfast are great for the price. I just didn't like that the shower water pressure was a little too low and that made it hard for me to wash my long hair... Overall is great!!
- 5/5
None
- 5/5
Wonderful
- 2/5
The room is clean, but stayed for a couple days and didn't receive room service and cleaning. Asked the front desk and he said I was opt-out. Not sure there was an option when booked.
- 4/5
It was a clean hotel and convenient location just off the main thoroughfare. Would have preferred daily housekeeping instead of every other day.
- 5/5
The overall stay was great, the room was clean a spacious for my family. My only complaint would the “incidental deposit” of $150, I looked on Hotels website and the property’s website and it wasn’t listed anywhere. I would have loved to know ahead of time about that fee and I wasn’t notified till it was taken from my account.
- 5/5
Very kind staff and helpful where to tour. Clean room and pool was nice although towels are on the small side everything else great.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay overall, once we moved to a quieter room that was not facing the freeway.
- 4/5
A lot of light coming in from the nightlight feature on the bathroom switches - so bad that we had to put a band-aid and piece of paper over it to get the light to stop. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, and that was a main reason we picked this hotel. Please consider getting more diabetic/low sugar options and some 1/2 and 1/2 for the coffee station. The room was clean, spacious and lovely otherwise and the staff was super kind!
- 4/5
Solo estuvimos un dia en el hotel, pero todo bien
- 2/5
To begin with the tub had water in it. How would I know if it’s clean water or not? So it was gross to have to dip my hand in it and open the drain. Then I noticed the shower curtains were dirty. It looked like rust but shower curtains are like $2/3 so there’s no reason to have dirty ones. Then my wife thought she smelled pee and later we found one of the sofa cushions felt damp. I did not smell it to verify. Lol. But I do want to note that the front desk staff and breakfast staff were super friendly and helpful. I would give them 5 stars. But overall I would not come back. Z
- 4/5
Our stay was ok. The room was comfortable. Breakfast needs improvement. I don’t understand why we paid so much for parking. It wasn’t even valet.
- 5/5
Clean and convenient
- 5/5
We love staying at Springhill Suites when staying in San Diego. This location was close to the 8 freeway yet tucked in a quiet corner of Mission Valley. With a family of four, we really appreciated that there was a bathroom with toilet and sink and a separate bathroom with shower and sink. It was nice to be able to take a shower without worrying if someone needs to use the toilet. They have a walk-in closet and a long bench above the a/c unit giving plenty of space to place your luggage and other items.

- 5/5
Took my wife and son to San Diego for our anniversary. Love the place! It’s very clean and close to practically everything. Would definitely come back and stay at this hotel.
- 5/5
Water the pressure in the shower should be stronger. It was very weak.
- 5/5
My family and I have stayed at Springhill Suites in other locations and have always loved the property. My son especially loves the free breakfast and the variety is good. My only issue is about the noise from the freeway. Our room was facing the freeway and it was quite noisy. Check-in was easy and efficient. Thank you to the housekeeping staff for accommodating a room clean even though they were almost done for the day.
- 5/5
Clean!
- 3/5
Strange layout, horrible breakfast...
- 4/5

- 5/5
Great staff! Very good breakfast!
- 5/5
Facility is clean, rooms spacious and conveniently located. Parking was easy on property.
- 5/5
It was a nice hotel and very comfortable place to stay at
- 1/5
Rock hard bed. Very uncomfortable and woke up in pain.
- 4/5
They charge $22 for parking. Why? You can easy regulate unwanted parking, but charging $22 is absurd.
- 5/5
The only odd thing about the hotel is the frosted glass for the bathroom and lack of bathroom door lock. You can absolutely see your family member (teenager etc) on the other side of the frosted glass. We had to move to the other side of the room when someone was showering.
- 2/5
First, “Happy” (literally the name on the tag) helping us check-in seemed anything but. She, in fact, seemed absolutely over being there or talking to anyone. We were placed in a 2nd floor room facing the main road and directly above whatever machinery was below us on the first floor that was running all night. Needless to say, it was freaking noisy. If you decide to stay, make sure to steer clear of rooms in this location. Our room was also in between a group of VERY loud high school baseball players constantly yelling and repeatedly slamming their doors until 1am. It was a literal bro convention right by our room. There are two bathrooms in the room; one with a toilet and sink, and the other with a shower and sink. Both are right in front of the beds and the doors to each bathroom are glass sliding barn doors. So not only does the door not fully close, the door is also translucent, so it barely acts as a light (and noise) buffer. So, if someone in your party has to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, you bet everyoneeee is going to wake up. Horrible design choice. Lastly, no eggs at breakfast?? Cold potatoes and congealed turkey patties?? Come on… Our stay was a disaster. I’d LOVE to chalk it up to an off-night for the hotel, but there is no way you’d catch me dead in a Springhill Suites again. Just spend the extra cash and get a stay you deserve.
- 5/5
Easy access and close to all malls and San Diego activities and restaurants
- 5/5
Check in and check was quick Front desk staff helpful Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Best hotel ive stayed in San Diego
- 5/5
The staffs are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is so secure that you need your key card to get in the hotel or they buzz you in.
- 5/5
This was a very nice property, clean. Just one problem, the bed was super uncomfortable/hard.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and quiet. I loved that check out was at noon.
- 5/5
We had a very late check-in and were greeted by a very personable and helpful man at the front desk. Everyone slept well. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable.
- 4/5
Nice
- 5/5
Customer service was great! Tho I think for the amount one pays to stay there shouldn’t have to pay to park there, it should be included. But over all great service!
- 5/5
A very nice, clean, and quiet place to stay!
- 5/5
The 1 negative is they charge for parking.
- 5/5
Staff were friendly, clean hotel and the breakfast was amazing. Will definitely stay again!
- 4/5
“Floating” illuminated mirror in bathroom could be lowered to accommodate all heights. I had to tiptoe to see myself in the mirror. No safe (I did not see one). No lotion. Coffee pot needs a good cleaning. Beds are comfy, though!
- 5/5
Our favorite home away from home! This hotel is the best! Courteous and friendly staff and management. Will definitely stay again.
- 5/5
.
- 4/5
Being charged $27 for parking in an open air/normal parking lot was crazy. Sits right beside the highway so there is a lot of traffic noise all night.
- 5/5
Picked this hotel for a staycation. Great location to explore San Diego. Will definitely return!
- 5/5
This was probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. It was so clean and all the rooms were different. I’ll give this 4.5 stars ⭐️ Checking in and out was a breeze! 🍃
- 3/5
Did not like that bathrooms have see-through barn doors.
- 5/5
Absolutely amazing stay! Everyone was so friendly and the breakfast bar was wonderful. Oh, and I didn't know this before we got there, but the pool is heated! My kiddo loved that feature. We will definitely stay here again for our next vacation!
- 5/5
Clean, quiet. Nice vibe for a family stay.
- 1/5
Spoke to front desk about bed bugs bitting me. Found blood on pillows and covers.
- 5/5
We stayed 3 nights for the San Diego Supercross event. No complaints other than the water pressure being low. Other than that the room was clean, pool was warm (48 degree air temp), breakfast was good. They did try charging us for parking which the website says nothing about, however we didn’t drive there.
- 2/5
They charge $27 a day. The lot is right off a main road and a free way and shares it with a sky diving place I had a three night stay, each night, I had over 25 instances of ppl walking or touching my car. I have a Tesla and it activated to record so many times, draining my miles from 200 to 30 every night . Also, my car was actually side swiped by another guest (they left their info so that’s good) If I am paying $27 a day for parking, hire security . My car was parked tucked away, why are random ppl walking and touching my car. Whee is the security? Why am I paying $27 for nothing . The staff didn’t seem to care either.
- 4/5
Very clean and comfi
- 5/5
The staff were really nice and helpful.
- 3/5
Hotel charges guests 26 dollars a day for parking in thier lot with out telling you. Until you find it on the bill during check out. Very deceitful and sneaky way to claim extra money from guests.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Everything
- 5/5
parking should be free but other than that good stay . Clean rooms awesome house keeping!
- 5/5
Close to food and the highway. One night stay after the zoo. Seems a little silly to have to pay for parking when you typically would be driving to get there. Otherwise a nice, clean property.
- 4/5
It’s new and safe place for vacation.
- 4/5
Love it
- 1/5
From the first day my room had a lot of ants and the hotel stuff try to move us to other room but when I checked the new room I found it has the same issue with the ants
- 4/5
Hotel.com didn't provide enough information for the hotel. We've been advised that this hotel charged $26 for the parking fee. The parking structure is such a plaza parking lot. So it's quite expensive for a "No gate" parking.
- 5/5
Wonderful breakfast in the morning.
