The location is just steps away from many activities, the hotel staff is very helpful on the different places and how to get there. On site parking is available but overpriced. There amenity fees and the Authorization amount fee per night are over the top and amount to no value to the customer.

The rooms are small, parking is $65 and the shower head is low. They added plugs next to the bed, not to code, silicone them in the night stand. One of the best things is they gave us a S'more kit to roast on the patio fire pits. Very nice.

The room was much better than our last stay and was cleaned well. You could also see some work has been done to the outside area of the property. Everything is extra charge. Properly is in need of some refurbishment. Considering the prices for an overnight stay this should be an easy task.

I find that this hotel missed the mark on quite a few things. Our room was not particularly clean and the bed "comforter" was paper thin like a sheet. The king room is very small, you may be better off having the two full sized beds to make the room bigger. Upon check in, there was someone at the elevator saying "out of service" and he pointed to the stairs (we had our luggage and were up on 4th floor). Then as we got over to the stairs, a guest came out of the elevator, which was apparently working fine. When we got to our room it was extremely hot and stuffy. Our A/C was not working and we called down to the front- they said someone would come up to assist and they never did. Needless to say, we went to dinner because we didnt want to wait. Really, you are paying for location and the outdoor courtyard, which is a fun place to hang out in the evening. The smo'res were a nice touch at check in.

My kids especially loved the s’mores kit we received as a welcome gift. The hotel lobby also has games that families can enjoy together, as well as a relaxing space where you can sit and look out at the Ferris wheel. One thing that really impressed me was that each floor has a water station where you can get filtered water, cold water, and hot water. That was very convenient and surprisingly thoughtful.

Auto check in was nice. Location is fantastic. Decor and cleanliness are great. Discounts at restaurants were nice. The pillows were horrible! I have stayed here before but it has been a couple of years. I enjoyed it then so I rebooked. The pillows felt like sleeping on a laundry bag of rags. I know it sounds dumb but I slept so horribly. Discounts were nice at restaurants etc but you end up paying an “amenity fee” at the hotel so it takes away from the savings.

The rooms are getting a bit old, but still in good shape and everything needed is there, overall a great value for the money. There is also a very nicely designed inner court, quite convenient if you are there with kids. We would come again:) The view on the parking lot was not great but still ok.

The drawbacks were that the hotel misinformed me that they’d be charging me additional fees upon checkout, outside of what Expedia was showing my full receipt and charges to be. The additional charges totaled over $100, and there was no explanation or resolution. There was a hold for incidentals, naturally, but the hotel didn’t have any amenities to charge incidentals for (i.e. no room service, bar, etc.). Therefore, the charges made no sense, were not about to be explained by the staff, and our concerns were dismissed by all staff on-site, including all managers. They simply stated, “This isn’t our problem; take it up with Expedia,” regardless of the fact that Expedia wasn’t responsible for decisions they made at their location. In the end, I had to resolve the issue with my bank, providing evidence of receipts and the fraudulent charge of $100 additionally. We will not be utilizing Zephyr’s services in the future, and all business associates, family, and friends are warned to avoid them additionally. There is a Marriott and Hyatt very close by and worth the additional time to walk to destinations and avoid the poor customer service and false advertising/fraudulent charges.

The hotel location was premium and the amenities outside were cool. The hotel advertised they had a cafe and coffee shop but they do not. Also the resort fee is an extra cost with in my opinion no benefit, it is not a resort and paying that much to get free marshmallows packs for smores is extreme. There is no pool or resort amenities to warrant the cost addition. Our room was ok but it needs some serious maintenance, the shower handle completely fell off. Our first impression was a cranky, not friendly front desk staff and left a bad taste from the start. The water fill stations were a nice touch but not mentioned at all by the front desk. The gym is in poor maintenance- the mat rack almost fell on my head as it wasn’t properly fastened to the wall. For two days we dealt with weed smells so bad in our room it was like we were the ones smoking it, I mentioned it to the front desk and they could have cared less. For the cost of the hotel would look at other options if we go back.

I am staying at this hotel with my child, and we were assigned a room at the very end of the hallway. The window faces the parking lot, and the door is right next to the main entrance/exit of the lot. You can imagine how incredibly noisy it is. This room shouldn't be given to anyone to stay in. The hotel management is completely chaotic; a well-trained employee should know exactly what giving a room like this means for guests with children. This is absolutely terrible, and you really need to retrain your staff!

There is a parking structure right next to the hotel which was super helpful considering parking anywhere in the city can be a nightmare. Checking in was easy, the staff were friendly and helpful, and we received free bottled waters and a smores kit to use in their fireplaces which was a nice touch. The grounds were amazing. I wish we had more time to relax and enjoy what the hotel offered. There were plenty of yard games, indoor games, table spaces, fire pits and photo opportunities. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had plenty of room. If I'm being nit picky, there really wasn't an area to do hair and makeup since the sink didn't have a lot of counter space and the only other mirror was from the closet which you can't sit in front of since the bathroom door is there. This is solved by bringing your own small makeup bag with a mirror since there is a long counter top to sit at in the room itself. The location was great! We walked to Pier 33 for the Alcatraz tour, then to Pier 39 for food and shopping. It's also connected to The Socialite restaurant which was really convenient. If we go back to San Francisco, this is definitely where we will stay!

Amazing location close to Fisherman’s Wharf, hotel is boutique-ish with a lot of cool details and a huge, cool inner yard to chill in the evening with a drink and/or smores! Staff is very helpful, some wear and tear in the room bur overall I would recommend! Cool stay! Not much, to be picky the room had some wear and tear and hotel has no cafeteria or bar which is fine! Overall, the experience was fine. However, the air conditioning in the room failed. After waiting on hold multiple times for long periods of time, they sent a “technician” - who looked at the unit and left. Eventually a box fan showed up. Someone from the hotel was supposed to be in touch with me about the situation, and it never happened.

Arrived 11 min before check-in and was told the room wasnt available but staff insisted on upgrading to an available room for a fee, they didn't offer as a courtesy. Magically our room then became available. The room we were in was a waterfront room and to access these rooms you have to walk down really long hallways and then use a handicap elevator/lift at the very end, which wasn't easy or convenient for families. We were also in an area of the hotel that seemed very isolated, our room was in a back corner with a door that leads to two rooms-so we just didnt care for thst type of setup for safety reasons. The hotel room itself had tears in the carpets, Stains on the walls, food crumbs/cereal from the previous guest and cheap outlet covers that didnt work on on of the nightstands. The only thing that was great was the location to the wharf. Not impressed for the price.

Rooms are tidy albeit tight annd the bath/ shower feels like you’re in a residence that should be charging a lot less. Hygiene staff attentive and thorough, check in staff were indifferent (would make it a rule to not drink Dunkin Donut branded Iced Coffees whilst on desk). Overall, pay the same money and stay somewhere like the Westin. Don’t be fooled by the “dangerous city” there are just as many problems at the pier but certainly the accommodation is of a lesser standard.

The room was more on the smaller side of rooms we’ve stayed in at other hotels but it had everything we needed for our stay. We did not have a car and planned most of our stay around Fisherman’s Wharf so the location of this hotel was perfect. Short walking distance times to just about everything we wanted to do! As soon as we checked in, we grabbed our bags and headed to our room, only to immediately get kicked out by housekeeping. They were in our room and just kept saying “just a minute” while we stood in the hallway with our luggage. Considering the hotel also does not allow you to use the bathroom in the lobby until you check in, and we had just driven for 3 hours, we were very uncomfortable. There were strange outlets cut into the side of the nightstand that didn’t seem safe.

The location of this property is excellent! It is within walking distance to many attractions and in the heart of the fisherman’s wharf. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. It’s just need to be updated and maintained. For example the bath tub was all scuffed up and need to be replaced, my tv had blown LED lights so when the tv is on there’s bright spots on the screen which interfere with the shows and the patio door needs to be greased, I could barely slide it open. I only mention these things because it is not cheap to stay there so you kinda expect it to be better. Other than that it was a great stay!

We are so thrilled we were able to stay at a hotel Zephyr. The staff were extremely friendly, and helpful. The rooms were clean and had a fun designs. There was a lot for tiles of all ages to do in the hotel, including snores on the fire pits in the evening and all the indoor and outdoor lawn and board games. They had awesome resources on traveling while in San Francisco, and throughout California. The location was also extremely safe, and right across from Fisherman’s wharf. Public transportation and the famous hop-on hop-off trolleys are also easily accessible. Parking is $65 but is available on sight and is discounted 50%off on the first day if you book the hotel from Expedia. We were also on a higher floor and had an amazing view of San Francisco. The only complaint we had was that the room with two queens was a little narrow. Two people could not walk across the hotel room, without another person having to move out of the way. Otherwise, it was an absolutely wonderful hotel that I recommended to all my friends and family with children.

I had four delays in my flight to San Francisco and when I called to canceled my reservation they told me to contact Hotels.com to get approval for a refund. The agent I spoke to could not get in contact with the reservation team and told me that they could not uphold a refund on the night that I was supposed to stay in the hotel. This is the second time that Hotels.com has done this with hotels when they rescheduled hotel room does not follow thru and charges a full night.

After a long day, being forced to walk multiple blocks in the rain with luggage because the hotel can’t be bothered to provide adequate parking is infuriating. It turned what should have been a relaxing Valentine’s stay into a miserable experience. Do better, Zephyr. Figure it out.

The cleaning staff was great and very attentive. But the hotel itself wasn't really nice. It was more like a 2-3 star hotel; we were expecting a nice hotel especially for being so centralized. The bathrooms were extremely tiny and the hallways smelled horrible. Old rugs tend to create a bad smell.

Horrible upcharging 50 dollars for early checkin before 4pm as they sit on your empty room, 50 dollar late check out charge from 11am to 12pm...42 dollar game room upcharge l...75 dollar parking charge..I wrote a review regarding what happened before my stay, but it continues. In our room, the heater was broken and taped up. We had to use a home depot box heater poking out the windows. It worked to heat the room but wouldn't turn off or cool the room down. My wife and I woke up in the.middle of the night sweating. Oh yea...i forgot to mention the rat traps in the room under the bed.. We set it to 62 but it didnt work or cool down. We didn't call anyone because it was 2am. We tried to open the windows bit they wouldn't open. Just to breath, we had to open up the fridge and crank it to high to try to cool the room. Not joking! The bed was hard, hurt our backs. The room was dirty and smelled. It was literally the worst hotel experience we EVER had. On top of that the elevator was broken during the whole time we were there, so we had to walk our huge suitcases up and down. It was insanely awful. We asked for manager but we're told by the staff that she wasnt around.

This was my first time staying at a smaller hotel instead of a big-name hotel because I specifically wanted to be very close to the pier. I will say, the location was absolutely immaculate. Being so close to the pier was extremely convenient, the outside area was honestly so cute and beautiful, and it felt very family-friendly. The staff was great overall, but I did have one issue when I added someone to my reservation. When they arrived, they were told they weren’t listed, which made things more difficult for them—especially since they were doing me a favor. Overall, the location is a huge plus, especially for a more affordable hotel. If you’re mainly focused on location and convenience, this place works well. However, if you’re more of an aesthetic or luxury/big-hotel person and tend to focus on the details, this might not be the best fit.

Me and my boy friend went to Hotel Zephyr as a getaway trip to San Francisco and I found this hotel and it had a nice scenery so I decided to book a 2 days stay. When we got there, the second floor and room hit us with a smell of cigarettes. when we complained, they moved us down the hall, where the smell was little, but from our bathroom vent we would smell marijuanna. For it being a no-smoking zone, it smelt like someone was lighting a pack. No other complaint though

The room provided to me was in very poor condition and showed clear signs of low maintenance. The overall cleanliness was unacceptable, and the room did not match the quality or description advertised at the time of booking. The common areas of the hotel were also poorly maintained, giving an overall impression of neglect. Additionally, the bathroom condition was particularly bad. It was unhygienic, poorly cleaned, and not properly maintained, which made the stay very uncomfortable. This is a serious concern, as bathroom cleanliness is a fundamental expectation for any guest. To make matters worse, I was charged extra money without proper explanation or justification. These additional charges were never clearly communicated to me at the time of booking or check-in. Despite raising concerns, the issue was not resolved satisfactorily by the hotel staff. Given the substandard room conditions, poor maintenance, and unjustified additional charges, I consider this stay unacceptable.

This property is perfect for location, being right next to Pier 39 with a lovely view of the ferris wheel, although from our balcony we could NOT see the ocean. That was a bit disappointing. There were so many amenities, including a restaurant downstairs, called The Socialist with a good selection of food, and cute courtyard with fire pits, smores, etc. although we hardly had any time to enjoy these and it was too drizzly to really enjoy the fire pits outside. Overall, I'd give it 5 star rating, because of convenient parking and dining options. Ihop is perfectly situated right next door to start off the mornings right on a vacation. It was clean, but the view was disappointing. I got a balcony and it was basically useless. We also didn't have enough time to enjoy the games or most of the amenities, but it's a safe, family friendly option in a perfect location, easily walkable to the Alcatraz ferry pickup spot at Pier 33, which also was a factor in our decision. You won't be disappointed, but just know that the "balcony view" is a bit misleading. We could see just a bit of the courtyard.

Probably not a great place to rent multiple rooms. Policy on Expedia didn’t state that the parking credit was for the first night only. Led to many hassles trying to use the credits. Furthermore, room consistency upon entering was not great. The light switch was either right by the door for a couple rooms, and light switch did not work for other rooms. Rooms were also all very dusty. Expected the partial bay view to be a bit more beautiful but there’s more emphasis on the “partial”. For a 4 star hotel on Expedia, it felt more like a 2 star based on rooms and quality. However the resort itself had great entertainment. Problem was the pool cues were almost unusable and ping pong paddles were cheap. Paying a resort fee to not have anything maintained isn’t worth it. The gym itself didn’t have much either. Again, I’ve seen other 4 star hotels have better amenities than this one.

The Zephyr desperately needs a rehab. The toilet did not flush properly, so we had to keep the lid off and manually lower the float each time we wanted to flush. The closet door was missing! There was no full-length mirror, which we guess would have been on the closet door. We talked to the front desk, but nothing was done during our 5-day stay. The hallway doors and doorframes were beat up, as were the elevators. Once fixed up, we would stay there again.

In the morning, there was no hot water for showers, but the front desk comped our resort fee. We walked to Peet’s coffee in the Boudin bakery and the cable car station on Hyde & Beach. We took the cable car to Nob Hill, where we enjoyed Grace Cathedral and the Fairmont Hotel’s art gallery and famous life-size gingerbread house. We’d hoped to eat dim sum in Chinatown, but ran out of time before we had to move our car by 3pm. Instead, we enjoyed a tasty paloma and margarita with shrimp tacos at Barrio in the November sunshine and splurged on Ghirardelli chocolate. Although we only had one brief night, it was a great time and will be back again!

First off, accomodations weren't met even though they where requested a couple of months in advance, and also called a week before to confirm amd stated yes we had been accommodated to the bay view, then we get to hotel and stated they could not accommodate, which was very disappointing, second parking fees are ridiculous, third resort fees weren't mentioned and all staff at the front desk are rude except for 1 didn't catch her name, all these fees should be added at the time of booking and not at the resort that way we are aware of all fees. Cleaning ladies were very nice, kept rooms clean everyday. To be a "resort" not even complimentary breakfast or even coffee.

Two things I wish they would address: 1) Self-parking was expensive - it was even more than was advertised online. We didn't want to drive around to find alternative parking, and since street parking is permitted (for 2 hours), we felt stuck. 2) They charge for early check-in if your room is ready early. We were not asking for expedited room availability, which I could understand charging a fee for so that is why I didn't give five stars. What happens is that the line for check-in at 4 pm is long, which is not a great customer service experience. They could make it easier on their team and provide a better guest experience if when a guest's room is ready after 2 or 3 pm, they allow them to check-in with no fee.

The balcony view was ok.... however it wasnt the best view! Staff where very rude.. especially the guy who was supposed to help with suitcases etc.... huffing and puffing for doin his job! Parking was confusing and over priced and no clear instructions to get out of car park as everywhere u needed a hotel key... so if u turned up earlier than 4pm... u were screwed. Rooms full of black mould and small double beds so really not enough bed room for 4 people.... awful sleep. Hotel surroundings full of homeless and junkies!!! Over priced and be aware that each night you are charged $30 for "complimentary " wifi and smore kit ... wifi crap and smore kit was minimal....tiny piece of chocolate... smashed up graham cracker and 2 small marshmallows. Would highly recommended staying further away as your literally only paying a premium for area in pier 39. . Beds cracked and broken and warn out.... they paint the bath cracks so when ur having a bath... pieces of paint are floating aroung.... no microwave and small fridge.. really disappointed.... cleaners pleasent enough but main check in and porter... extremely rude!!! Especially when u ask to leave suitcases.... 2 main lifts... 1 always broken (which isnt good when u of my family cant do stairs due to disabilities and we are on top floor!) Also games room out of order for 24 hours due to "private event" they care more about tips and money than the actual service they are supposed to provide

The room was clean. The beds were fine. Having a balcony was wonderful after a long day of work. However, noise of air conditioner was a bit loud. Also never completely cooled the room. The closet door was missing, the tub looked like it was going to fall apart, the drains were struggling, lots of mouse traps which was unsettling. The outside courtyard is terrific! Lots of fun things to do! I do want to recognize a staff member. Prince is the nicest bell person. He prayed with us, talks and laughs with us. Truly is outstanding and is one of our favorites at the Zephyr. A main reason we stay.

Our room and bathroom was clean. The room was mode industrial, comfortable, window view was a hotel across the street. Only a couple things toilet seat sliding around and the bathroom fan turned on after about 30 seconds. Plenty of elevators and nice open parking above street and wharf. Around the hotel and the wharf was clean, almost no homeless, we seen about two over the three days here.

First, I’d like to mention that the check-in process was smooth and the staff we interacted with were kind and helpful, which we appreciated after a day of travel. Unfortunately, the condition of the room was quite disappointing. The space felt stale and overly warm when we arrived, and the air conditioning unit was extremely loud, clearly in need of maintenance or replacement. It ran throughout the night, making it very difficult for us to sleep. More seriously, we discovered that every time the toilet was flushed, sewage would leak from where the base meets the tile floor. We attempted to contact the front desk, but there was no answer. The following morning, we reported the issue and were moved to another room. However, we had to move our belongings ourselves, and the new room also had issues, it was still uncomfortably warm and the shower was covered in visible mildew. I spoke with the manager, who offered to remove the daily hotel charge. I appreciated this gesture, but I must express my disappointment that for $800 for a two-night stay, the overall condition of the rooms was far below expectations. While the location of Hotel Zephyr is excellent, the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms were not reflective of the premium price point. There are certainly more modern and better-maintained options in the area for the same or even lower cost.

Location was great, but the room was not kept up to par cleanliness-wise. Room also looked nothing like the pictures on the site. Sheets smelled used, shower and sink water pressure was very weak. Could barely wash my hair! No ice on our floor, no coffee in hotel. We were happy to see all the games and outdoor firepits, but had no idea that they would tack $30 per night to our bill for these "amenities"? I booked a room for $188.25 per night, and with $60 per day parking... but my entire bill - was 987.48. Seems very high for what i got.

    4/5

It’s a decent hotel to stay at overall. We were offered two water bottles and a s’mores package, but unfortunately the firepit was off so we didn’t get to use it. The room itself felt very average — we booked a city view but ended up with a view of the parking ramp, which was disappointing. The in-room amenities were fine, but the sink design was inconvenient since the faucet was so short and close to the basin. Like other hotels with heat pumps, we had to rinse the AC filter ourselves because it was caked with dust. When we first entered, the room smelled moldy and not fresh, which affected the comfort of our stay.

Hotel seems dated and kind of worn down and the bathroom cleanliness was not good. There were spots of black mold in tile grout for the bath tub. There were also chunks of grout missing in between the tiles. The room was OK. the air conditioning worked well and kept the room cool. The carpet in the room could also use a deep clean. The balcony is nothing special: you get a partial view of the Fisherman’s Wharf (from the 3rd floor) and the big Ferris wheel. Hotel staff was very friendly and professional, however. The mini fridge kept my drinks cool. Overall, the location is great and the staff is friendly. But the bathroom killed the vibe for me due to the mold.

Our room smelt damp and musty on arrival and although the air conditioning was on its was extremely hot. The room was run down. They offered to move us to a Smaller room but it was no different. They provided a fan but as the windows couldn't be opened it wasn't much help. We all ended up with runny noses and a cough which I believe was from the mouldy and dirty air-conditioner. Shocked with the daily $30 guest amenities fee for very little amenities. It was a good location but the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation with more practical placement of power points etc. There air-conditioners need urgent attention and thorough cleaning.
