The hotel's location is its strongest asset, being close to major attractions such as Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Guests appreciate the free parking, friendly staff, and clean rooms. However, the property is often criticized for being outdated, having thin walls resulting in noise disturbances, and lacking air conditioning in some rooms.

This was a great stay! Close to fishermen’s wharf and right across from where the big bus picks up. This hotel is old, but the rooms are great, clean, and the bed slept great!

Upstairs with two king beds has flooring that seem to be warped. Stepping out of the bathtub seemed treacherous because the floor is lower than the bathtub. There was no bar to hang onto. The beds were very comfortable which was the most important for us, and we slept well. We would stay here again because of the value and proximity to everything we wanted to see and do such as Alcatraz!

Stayed here for 3 nights. First and foremost. It is probably the best located hotel on the warf. 10 minute walk to pier 39 one way and 10 minute walk to Ghirardelli square. Hotel is not perfect, looks like they are updating the rooms. Our room had plywood walls on the exterior wall. Room was clean and bed was comfortable though. There is a fridge, but no microwave. That is a common use item near the ice machine in the hallway. Parking is 30 dollars a night. You can come and go as you please and the hotel staff controls the gate, keep you parking pass visible. Most of the parking is covered with plenty of cameras. The muni rail cars has a stop right next to the hotel. Get a 1 or 2 day pass. Worth it. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel and a 7 11 across the street. Also there is NO AC in the rooms. They do provide a box fan and you can open the window. It was fairly quiet in the rooms. Shower was nice. The staff I encountered was friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The cleaning ladies work very hard, and all you have to do is ask if you need something. Overall it was a good deal especially with the location.

The shower head leaked, and no blow dryer. There was a random hole in the bathroom wall. Creepy. Door didn’t seem all that safe as base area was deteriorated. No extra security. Chipped paint everywhere.

Bathroom could have been a little bit cleaner and had rust in some areas of shower. Could not get TV to turn on but staff came quickly to check it out and fixed the issue. Check in was quick and easy. Location is great, 8 min walk to pier 39.

The room was not properly cleaned: the sheets had dark stains, the furniture was dusty, and the floors appeared unwashed. Additionally, the walls were dirty with peeling paint, the sink and shower were unhygienic, and there was even broken window glass. Both the refrigerator and the bathroom ceiling fan were excessively loud. Furthermore, I was disappointed to learn that housekeeping does not provide bed service on Sundays, requiring guests to change their own linens. Due to these issues, along with a broken door and the overall lack of service, I chose to check out a day early and relocate to another hotel. DD

We stayed for 2 nights. Hotel was clean, beds were comfy. The shower was small but it worked. They were doing renovations so you could hear everything but we have kids so we didn't mind it too much. Location is great! We were close to everything we wanted to see and do! Staff were amazing and very accommodating and kind. Parking was terrible and costs a lot. Property is falling into disrepair but they are working on it. Plumbing is terrible but they came to fix it quickly. Construction during all hours, which is terrible for international travelers. The elevator barely works, everything smells like weed lol. No microwave. All Other guests were very loud at all hours. Good price, but I would not stay here again.

Property was really dirty, halls were trashy and paint was coming off of the walls, carpets on halls were dirty, elevator needed maintenance..it would crank as it went up or down. The room was dirty! Toilet was peed in, the floor was semi-wet and the plastic tile looking floor was puffed up and lifted. So, Every time we would walk in the room the floor would crack. Upstairs neighbors would walk or talk and we could hear everything! The bed smelled clean and it was a very comfortable mattress. Overall experience 3/10

    4/5

The entry into the actual parking area and elevator and stairs is key card entry only, so we were able to comfortably and safely keep our door open for some air when we were in the room and awake. The biggest downside was theres only one small window to open for cool air and no ac (cuz its san fransisco obv). The other drawback was the street noise could get a little loud, but really between 11pm-7am there isnt so much street noise. Overall I think my stay was all I needed it to be, a decent bed to sleep in and decent hotel staff for a lower fare than the other hotels in walking distance to attractions.

Staff was friendly. The door stuck, took two people to open, as I'm disabled, this was a clear problem. The locks on the door were broken. The tv didn't work. The bed was rock hard. The shower floor was sloped significantly, again for someone with balance issues, this was not safe. They were doing construction, starting at 7:00 AM...saws, hammering, very loud. I was saddened because my last stay with them was awesome! I wouldn't recommend this place unless major changes are made.

The motel itself had the perfect location. That’s the main reason I chose it. We were able to park our car and walk to the Wharf, pier 39 and the Alcatraz tour in no time at all. The room itself was fine. Definitely an old building but it served its purpose. We were able to hear everything from the room above us unfortunately. Luckily they didn’t stay up too late. Shower was funny, the head was so low that my 6’ tall husband almost had to go on his knees. I’d still stay here again.

For a property that is in amazing spot right in the heart of fisherman wharf. I parked my car to checked in at a very nice reception area she assigned me a parking spot which I could not find because there was no numbering either on the floor or wall. I I found the elevator. I was a little afraid to get into it to tell you the truth was old and small. I found my room walking down a dingy hallway the floor look like it had old carpet that was ripped up because there were still the tape marks all the way down the hall. I got into my room. It was small with a corner. I tried to close the curtains as it looked out onto the pathway and they didn’t close all the way the bed had to have been 4 feet off the ground and I’m 5 feet so it was very hard to get in and out of the bed. The bathroom, where do I start? The shower door did not close. The floor was coming up the border along the wall was coming off the wall and the bins that they had the towels in was coming off the wall. I have to say that it wasn’t dirty in sense of there was trash and stuff. It just felt dirty and like I said it’s a shame. They need to really close it down and upgrade the whole thing and get it together because it could be a beautiful property and the central location is amazing.

Horrible Hotel! No view only 7 eleven view with a predigest clerk yelling and running at people. We were standing on a little balcony and heard gunshots we went inside. The one outlet we saw had no cover and only had power strip. I was itching on my legs and saw bed bugs. They do not want to refund. Horrible Horrible

The Wharf Inn was absolutely amazing! From the moment we arrived, the energy of being right in the middle of the Wharf Strip made the whole experience unforgettable. You can literally hear and feel the excitement around you, which makes it so cool. Everything is within walking distance, so getting to restaurants, shops, and attractions is incredibly easy. One of the best parts is that the Big Bus stop is right there, making it super convenient to explore even more of the city without any hassle. If you want location, convenience, and a fun atmosphere, this is the perfect place to stay!

The entire property is under construction it would have been nice to know the details prior to booking. Just made it look really shabby. Unfortunately. But other then that it was an ok stay no issues. Just would’ve been nice to know. It was a nice view from the balcony at night. I would get the outside of the balconies pressure washed or at least the yellow mustard railing cleaned. For the nightly price to stay there would like to be in a lil cleaner common areas and maybe not have the tv wall mount held together with zip ties just saying. It was fine for me but my wife and kids kept pointing things out. Staff was great and welcoming

When we first arrived, the attendant gave us the wrong room, which was nothing like the pictures. The rooms heater did not work there are holes in the walls. When I looked over my room details I went to the office and told them I paid for an ocean view room she told me that the computer automatically gave me the room. She corrected the room and gave us the room we paid for. This room was nicer, but the hotel is old, it had chipped paint, the toilet wouldn’t flush(they brought me a plunger) no microwave in room it had a coffee maker but no bottles of water. The bed was comfortable and the heater worked but it was either on or off it would not shut off after a temp was reached. We stayed 3 days and we were only there to sleep as we were out all day. The location is perfect next to everything plus the bus and trolly system. I would stay here again but I would be prepared for the room.

The staff at this hotel was great for the most part - but the hotel needs a little love. Great location - walkable to most things. Heat didn't work properly, the curtains were stained... it needs a good wash and a coat of paint. The beds were clean, mattresses could be flipped... you sort of rolled to the side of the bed!! bathroom was clean. They didn't say rooms weren't being cleaned and we had to ask for towels, coffee, cups, changing garbage - and because it was cold out with heat not working properly we had to ask for blankets. When we arrived the key to the door wouldn't work and the young lady on the front desk had to come with new lock assemblies to try and change it so the door would lock! Asking a lot of someone probably not making a great wage!! Great parking, very secure.

The hotel is older and a little run down, but very clean and safe. Literally across the street from the Pier which was unbelievable! Walking distance to several amazing restaurants, the Aquarium and the tour boats. Staff was gone a lot with a sign "be back in 5" but gone for well over an hour on more than one occassion, so that was frustrating especially when we lost our key and couldn't get in. Parking is a bit expensive, but saves you from having to pay for street parking and the parking garage is behind a key card gate, so is very safe. The beds were very comfy. Shower is very small and water pressure was lacking, but for the price it was worth it!

The worst night ever in a hotel! On 2nd night of a two night stay we found bugs in the bed. At around midnight we sent an email to the hotel informing them of such and that we would spend the night in chairs and not the bed. After a few hours without sleep we decided to pack up and leave. Around 4.15 am we checked out and was asked by the desk to send a picture to management, which we did. We received an apology accompanied with a statement that they had since checked the room and found nothing, could we send more 'evidence'. We sent a few more pictures which clearly show very tiny objects filled with blood (still have the photos). Since then we have been told that is not evidence enough and have we any 'evidence' of being bitten. I wasn't aware that we should have waited for more bites, but it seems that is what is required for them to even consider a refund on the room or even any empathy. They have given a 1 night refund on parking as 'goodwill'. REALLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

The Wharf Inn has an amazing location — just steps from Fisherman’s Wharf, with easy access to the pier, restaurants, and shops. Check-in was quick and the staff was friendly, which made things easy after a long drive. The downside is that the hotel itself feels a bit dated and can get noisy at night. The walls are thin, so you can hear sounds from the street and other guests. What was most disappointing was the $30 per night parking fee. Since I was already staying at the hotel, it felt like something that should be included, not an extra charge. Overall, it’s an okay place if location is your main priority, but the added fees and noise make it less of a good value.

The bed can best be described as a very plush mattress cover wrapped around concrete. They were very hard to sleep on. The wharf is not what it used to be and the property of the Inn was in good condition, had obvious improvements needed. For the price, it was a good stay. You can’t really hear your neighbors unless window is open. The room was clean bed was soft. We had a fridge which was not cold cold but kept things cool so I guess it did its job. There is a shared microwave for each floor. The room does not have air conditioning & the only window capable of letting air in has no screen & wouldn’t close & it’s inconveniently located right next to the door safety lock which I discovered you can stick your hand in to unlock the safety latch which is a MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!!! The bathroom was small WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOUR ON THE HEAVIER OR TALL SIDE. I’m fairly thin and only 5’5 and found sitting on the toilet my knees almost touched the wall in front of me. They do provide pumps with body soap shampoo & conditioner in the shower. The hotel it’s self Rundown at best it looks like their doing minor upgrades, there was water in the stairwell look like water was leaking from a pipe. The elevator says 2000lbs weight limit, when my family of 3 and 2 other people were in the elevator it made the scariest of sounds to hear while moving some cars are exposed to weather in the garage but it is gated from public. ISSUE I HAD is the gate can only be opened by staff & they were on lunch when we were coming back for the night no one was there & there’s no key card or code to let yourself in. Parking is $30 a night early parking is $15 extra

The pictures that I saw when I booked DO NOT represent the present condition of the property, the tub was disproportioned with floor and dangerous when exciting the tub, the floors were bouncy and items were rusty, no AC, dirty fan available. The location was great.

The only good thing is the location. (Walking distance to fisherman’s wharf). When we got to the room, it doesn’t look like advertisement. We don’t mind vintage, but it was beyond vintage. Old wallpaper, and rough all around. Then…it was so noisy at night. There is some homeless that stay around there. One guy talked and yelled all night (to himself ), keeping us up. When we first arrived, I immediately started looking for another place to go. Unfortunately nothing available or if there was something it was way out of our price range. Since we’d probably still have to pay for the room at The Wharf. I wouldn’t stay there nor would I recommend to anyone.

The room didn’t have ac and parking was horrible even tho inoay $30 to park at the hotel also they took $150 for deposit and $45 to be upgraded to a mini suit and they didn’t upgrade us. There were signs in the bathroom about the water temperature changing random in the parking lot there was a huge whole in the ground and there were no towels in the bathroom

I like that it’s walking distance to Pier 39 and the surrounding area. I have stayed here many times in the past but the hotel has gone downhill. The room needs cleaning. There was mold in the shower which needed cleaning. The ceiling fan to keep us cool was super loud and clanging. They now charge for parking as well.

Just a heads up. IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE PHOTOS IN APP. The location was the only good thing. Know they will charge you double for saving money using a 3rd party. Parking is TIGHT. Our rooms were not ready at check in! We asked for an another room and answer was no. So upon going into our rooms (3) we were disappointed of the conditions the rooms smelt old and smelled of mold! The pictures on Hotel.com are not accurate at all . Showers were disgusting which is probably why there are no pictures online and there is NO AC the ceiling fans are very shaky and look dangerous right above the bed . They only have fans and the “lamp” by the bed literally shocked my husband when he tried to get it to work . Only thing convenient about this place is the location .

This is a simple bed and bath hotel room, good enough to stay for a night and leave. If you are OK with huge roadside noise, beds and sheets that are 20 years old, paper thin walls that can help you hear conversation from next room, bathroom with showers that leaks all time, homeless guys sleeping right outside the hotel building, but you want to stay right in the heart of Fisherman's Warf then this is a good hotel!

My trip was a family getaway and it was our first time in San Francisco so even though we did not spend much time in the hotel the time that we did spend inside, there was a weird odor. There was stains on the wall. There was a lot of improper maintenance work that has been done in the past And cosmetically. It looks horrible. It was loud from other rooms and no control on keeping it quiet for resting purposes.

The staff was nice but it was a little busy in lobby with just the one person working. Our room was not ready and we came in after the 3pm check in time. But they gave me the keys and said to come back in 15 minutes, which was ok because my family wanted to get food. The room was clean but our tv didn’t work the front desk person came and fixed it for us which was nice. The parking was safe and convenient. With it being right on the wharf it was a little loud. But I booked it last minute and it was worth what I paid. The staff was nice and friendly and my son liked the complimentary water in the lobby.

This property had some good points and some bad! The number one good point is location! Just a block over from Fisherman's wharf and right across the street from hop on hop off bus tour. Another positive is secured parking and entry via locked gate. Also beds were ver comfortable. Negatives no ac! Only one tiny window on bottom of row of windows opens so no way to get air flow in room unless you leave door to room wide open. Staff was very unfriendly and cold. Not interested in being helpful at all. in addition to cost of hotel they require an additional security deposit. Grounds around hotel are also very dirty. Towels were stiff and not enough provided for guests stayin in room asked for more towels none were available. Not enough plugs in room either. Definitely a lot of improvements are needed but location is what brings people back to this old outdated hotel!

There is a mini fridge in the room which helps with food. There is a communal microwave on a different floor. Our room slept 5 people and had 2 kings and had to pay an extra fee for the 5th person. Once we arrived to get a roll away bed this cost an extra $20 per night. I do not even think the bed would fit in the room. The location was prime but it is definitely a 2 star hotel. It worked for us but definitely is not for everybody.

We LOVED staying at the Wharf Inn. I'm picky about cleanliness and sometimes that doesn't go with affordable sometimes, but the Wharf Inn was clean, comfortable, serene, private, and surprisingly spacious! The bed was super comfy (though I wish a quilt was available!), it had a fridge, Keurig coffee maker, items were replaced like magic. We had a private balcony with view of the pier/water, which was very nice. The staff was super helpful and friendly, and left us alone, giving us privacy, yet attentive to our needs. We will definitely stay at the Wharf Inn again. It was affordable, comfortable, and clean. I gave it 3 stars for eco friendly as there could have been a recycling bin in the room. Also, it said the room came with microwave, but there wasn't one, but we didn't end up needing one, and probably would have gotten one if we had asked. The fridge was a nice size (bigger than those dorm room ones) in a retro 1950s style. The shower had a great spray nozzle and all amenities were provided, and within walking distance to pier 39 and the shops and other places as well. LOVED it here!

The Wharf Inn is an older property with very little amenities. The front desk staff was very friendly and made the check in process easy. Parking is tight but we didn't use our vehicle during our four night stay so it wasn't an issue for us. Our room was perfect for our family of 5 - it had two king beds, a small table with two chairs, mini fridge and a coffee maker. The location is perfect - a short walk to the pier and within walking distance to Chinatown and Japantown.

The location was excellent! Right at fisherman's warf, and walking distance to so many things. Unfortunately, the place is really outdated and in poor condition. The shower wouldn't drain and started backing up as soon as the water was run, there was a huge reddish stain on the curtain, the bedding had a stain and mostly everything just needed to be updated/renovated. There was no room with a balcony, it's a walk way that everyone can walk on. No ac, very loud, the parking lot was being torn up.
