This was our second time staying at this property - both were pleasant. The property was quiet, the rooms were clean and very well sound-proofed, and the staffs were super friendly. But the best part is its location. Super easy access! Highly recommended!

The exterior of the hotel is a bit run down. That being said, the room was updated and beautiful. The pool had a lot of differed maintenance. The staff was wonderful and the morning coffee and pastries were a nice touch.

The person who is at the reception seems that you are doing her a favor to attend to you, the pool is too dirty we couldn't even get in, it's too much what they charge so that you can't use what is according to the amenities to use, I'm very dissatisfied!

The wifi is terrible in our room. Our room is at the end of the property and there is water coming down from the mountain that creates a muddy parking area in front of the room. The check in staff is not so friendly. The food in the restaurant is great though and there is ample free parking. Nice place to stay if only those amenities are given some upgrades.

For swimmers the pool is nice and big lap pool! Very rare and nice for a motel inn. We got a late last min room so some might be nicer but ours was very just not special

I like staying at the Inn when coming for a short visit to see our daughter at UCSC. It’s an old fashioned Inn, but the simple design, wooden floors and high ceilings give the rooms a spacious feel. The only thing they should improve on are the toiletries. A small soap bar instead of a shower get is even for Airbnbs not acceptable. I understand the environmental concern, but at least a little nicer bar soap, and a little nicer presentation would do.

The restaurant food is delicious, the drinks at the bar were delightful, bartenders are tentative, the pool was clean & the suite we stayed in was spacious and clean. Definitely will come again

The suite was beautiful… the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on! Their alcohol license was suspended, so we weren’t able to go to the restaurant bar and have a cocktail, but that was no biggie. The staff were lovely and very helpful.i will definitely go back!

I have stayed here three times in the past year. I am a quasi local. Friendly, clean, safe, local, uncomplicated. Lobby has space to sit and read, cozy fireplace, big windows, for when you want to give your travel companion space. Fresh brewed coffee in the morning, restaurant on site for lunch and dinner and the locals use the restaurant. Pool is heated when open for season, call ahead to confirm. It's a bit old school, you park in front of your room, rooms are updated, super functional but not spacious unless you book a suite. The wifi is a bit weak, access email reliability, yes, stream movies you will probably get buffering. The rooms are fine for solo, duo or couples, or family with one child travellers. Ironically, it's a good location as there is a lot that is accessible by car within 5 minute drive. Please note, even though the maps show local roads, it is not walkable, there are no shoulders, local road is narrow, no shoulder, people speed, or are restricted access. Don't plan to get a morning walk or take the baby out in a stroller or think you will walk to town for the day. Yes there is a bus, but it's once an hour. You must have a car and a 5 minute drive will get you to parks and open space, 10 min to beach. Super easy to find. Can be pricey during beach season and weekends, all places in Santa Cruz are. I will stay here again.

The location of the hotel is great, the beds were comfortable and the two staff members that we interacted with were nice, but the property is not well maintained. There was mold and rust all along the perimeter of the bathtub, the shower head was not secured to the wall, it was leaking water, and the WIFI was so terrible that my friend couldn't get any work done at the end of the night, so she had to use her phone's hotspot. A clean, mold free bathroom with no leaking pipes and a strong WIFI connection should be basic amenities for a motel.

It was great stay very comfortable the room very clean, I ordered dinner chicken wings were delicious. I parked right in front of my room.

The beds are very high and the walls are paper thin

Room was clean, the property location was very convenient. There was a big snake outside our room, which was exciting for the kids to see (harmless, of course). The pool was nice enough, and we played on the grass area. Would prob opt to stay closer to beach next time.

The Restaurant and bar were closed and though the rooms have been remodeled and are clean and updated the parking lot and the rest of the hotel need a bit of a polish. For the price and it being away from the downtown it was way too pricey. What made it so convenient was that it was supposed to have all in one stop. Also only coffee and muffins were available the add said breakfast included.

The room we had was very clean, remodeled, beds were extremely comfortable and the price was highly discounted and affordable. Restaurant was excellent, reasonable and the food was very good. The downside was although our room remodeled, it was very small, nothing special or inviting us to want to come back. Bathroom was so small the door could not open and close if someone was in it. The tub was old & patched, needed to be replaced. It had no stopper or shower curtain although they did repair that. I mentioned to the employee at checkout how disappointed we were and wanted to know if they actually had rooms like those advertised on the website. She said only 4. All the others were like the one we stayed in. Although I would like to stay in one of the four better rooms, we agreed this was not a good experience and most likely would not stay again.

Really nice and relaxing place with a cool modern rustic lobby and an excellent bar/grill attached. Rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. Showers and the WiFi work. Super quiet at night. Coffee served in the lobby each morning. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Room was neat and tidy. Loved morning biscuits and scones! Driveway needs repaving - lots of divots and uneven areas. Meal at Back Nine was delicious! Staff very friendly and helpful.

The bed wasn't very comfortable, the fan in the bathroom didn't work after showering, the TV had a bad remote and only basic cable

The room was spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was very quiet. Sometimes an othewise nice hotel stay is marred by noise from other guests. This property was very quiet. The hotel staff were polite, friendly and very service-oriented. We had a couple meals in the restaurant which were very good. A hot tub would have been nice and the pool was closed for the winter. We are in Santa Cruz a few times a year and we will definitely consider this facility.

It's one of the "all the above" places. Great and courteous staff, proud chef, clean room, locals hangout. Maticulous assistants (one was double checking the cleaning crew). Had the fish and chips. Never had chips like that before. They were awesome. Fish rivalled the restaurants here in Monterey.

Overall I am very happy with the accommodations and price. The only down side was the traffic noise as the hotel is right next to a major highway. Obviously this is no fault of the hotel and management, and I’m a light sleeper so I’m probably bothered by this more than most. I would definitely consider staying here again but would consider other options due to the traffic noise.

Having a restraint on site was great. Went there for dinner and lunch the next day. Staff was friendly and food was good.

The room was clean and modern, but relatively basic. My only wish would be that they serve breakfast (instead of just cold muffins & coffee in the lobby) ... but the lobby is very pleasant!!

The Inn at Pasatiempo - Clean room with nice accommodations. Friendly staff were very helpful. We stayed in the King suite with fireplace. The room was large and comfortable. The bed was fantastic. It was nice to have a restaurant on site with both food and drinks that were great. The restaurant staff were friendly and attentive.

TV was a good size and worked fine. The room was clean, but not cozy. No carpeting or comfy chair. Bed sat up too high off of floor. I almost fell out one night!

Really nice spacious and hidden secret type of place! Very close to everything and the freeway. They offer $10 off to customers who eat at their very own restaurant and even provide free parking. It’s spacious and close to trees and woodsy areas. Not so much walkable but a very nice place to stay if you’re driving. Will definitely recommend as it was completely quiet and peaceful the whole time.

It is a nice place to spend time or have a wedding. The only issue is the very noisy AC/heater window units that they have in their rooms.

Was a little concerned why the pool was closed?

The room was recently renovated and fine. But, the pool was closed and I was unable to use a food credit for food because they wouldn't let me take it to my room. Lame.

This is my second time staying here we absolutely love this place,its such a hidden gem. The customer service is amazing, the rooms are big and spacious, the beds are super comfy.

1st room i was located next to an extreem hardship fellow. The person was in pain and groaning all night. Broken sleep for 2 nights. After changing rooms it was ok.

Tranquility. Very quiet and clean Fireplace Suite with high ranch-like home ceiling both for living room and separate bedroom with French doors. Beyond that great staff of hosts: Abby and Nayomi always kind and thoughtful for all your needs. Lastly the Happy Hour with incredible drinks and eats - the Margaritas were the best ever made and great pricing so you could try a lot of drinks and eats. Forgot, the morning Peets coffee and pastries were also fresh and thoughtful each morning at the lobby. We're already planning a return trip soon. Great location, right off the highway, but landscaped in a way that you feel tucked away. My only negative moment is when I walked from the farthest building to pick up to-go food from their in house dining and they forgot to include condiments and silverware. I called them to let them know and they had me walk all the back to get them rather than sending staff to bring them to the room. And they didn’t apologize for the inconvenience either. That was weird.

It was my first stay at this inn and it was a wonderful experience! The pool was lovely and they even had an area for ping pong and frisbee. The staff was very welcoming and nice. They even had pastries and coffee/tea in the morning for guests. I really enjoyed my stay the rooms are nice and well kept! I would recommend this place!

Convenient to downtown Santa Cruz shops, boardwalk and golf. Nice on property dining and free morning continental breakfast. Room was dated but clean and very confortable bed.

We needed a place where we could be totally comfortable just hanging out, taking short trips to the beach and local shops and restaurants, and this place really fit perfectly. The staff was very friendly and attentive, the suite was nicely outfitted with great furniture, and we were so close to downtown and the beach it was terrific.

Staff is friendly. Room very clean and enjoyable. The only complaint is that I only got 2 towels. The next day when my room was cleaned they did leave extra 2 towels per my request, but they took the bath mat and never replaced it.

It's an okay hotel. Bed was decent and the breakfast pastries were a nice touch. My only complaint was the condition of the bathroom. Could definitely use an overall of the bathrooms and showers. Plumbing needed some help.

Good hotel, 10 minutes away from the boardwalk yet secluded from all the Santa Cruz traffic. Check-in was easy and although check-in was until 3 we were able to check-in when we arrived at 12:30 pm and check-out was easy too. Staff was really nice and they offer free coffee and pastries from 7-9 am. The room was in good service, just some areas were dusty. Outside area of the hotel is nice, and there is a lot of bushes and greenery so that means a lot of spiderwebs and spiders. Parking was easy and there were plenty of spots, just the parking lot needs to be upgraded since there is some spots on the dirt.

The service here was great. Got the fireplace suite which was great with teens because we had our own space. Bed was comfortable and grounds were nice. Staff was really friendly at the front desk. Restaurant on site was very convenient.

The location of this place is great. Out of the buzzling of the town and traffic but near enough to go places. The room was clean, except the shower curtain. It smelled dingy, so we requested a replacement and were provided one very quickly. The room seemed a bit small for a group[ of 4 but comfortable enough to sleep and hang out for several hours. The staff was friendly and courteous. It seems like the place has gone through a renovation because things appear to be new, except for the pool. the pool can use a renovation. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Excellent hotel at a great price. It was modern and didn’t have the outdated look that a lot of hotels in this area have. Front desk attendant was super friendly and helpful. Only downside was that our beds were more like a Full instead of a Queen. Overall great hotel. Would stay here again.

Our room was ready upon arrival, the pool is big, the restaurant’s food was excellent. Only bad thing is we’re only staying here one night. Wouldn’t mind staying another day or so.

Sink clogged; no hooks to hang clothes or towels in the bathroom. They should install shower and conditioner dispensers.

Somewhat disappointing; lighting in room is terrible, making it depressing at night. There is only one nightstand - two tiny ones would have worked better than one large one - this way, one person has nowhere to put cell phone, necessities, etc (other than under the pillow.) On the positive side, the room is clean, the bed is comfortable, the location is good.

I was really happy with the attention from the staff at the hotel. We arrived quite early (at noon) three hours before check-in time and were allowed to check into our room immediately. I also needed to attend a work video meeting that ended at 11 AM and routinely runs slightly longer. I asked if I could do a slightly late check-out and was given the option to check out at 12 PM with no extra charge. The hotel staff was friendly, courteous and flexible at accommodating my request. Would definitively stay there again!

We had a room on the pool side and it was lovely! Rooms on the opposite side face the highway. It is quaint and our two room suite was very spacious-slept 4 easily with the pull out couch.

My stay here was just terrible! The beds were super uncomfortable, the bathroom was disgusting and small. There was mold all over the shower walls, there wasn’t enough towels or shampoo and the shower head was breaking off. The ac unit made too much noise and you just feel disgusting waking up in their beds. It’s just a terrible terrible experience and feeling. I will never stay here again. The ONLY plus side is that it’s close to the boardwalk but next time I will pay more for a better experience. This is a rundown motel.

I asked my family what they disliked and my daughter just said that when she was in the pool. light in the pool light was hanging by the wires.

The property has been posted in such a way that it disguise that it is a hotel but the reality is that it is a motel. And as a simple motel it is very expensive.

I stayed for a day and our bathroom in room 314 the lock was not working, I also called the front desk and asked for another coffee maker because ours did not work, I was told they would bring another and they never showed up. The pool door lock was also not working and pool was semi green and had very old.

Not the first time we stay here. Will probably be our go to from now on. The restaurant is amazing. Food is delicious! The staff is amazing.

The pool was dirty and cold

Similar to a lodge! The room was great and the property felt as if we were in the country. Some reciptionist were inattentive leading to poor customer service. But there were some that had great customer service. 50/50 on the customer service.

Very comfortable updated rooms. However, the pool and area need attention. The onsite restaurant was excellent.

Thankfully the Inn had another room available and booked it for me at the same cost as the first room- exceptional!

The staff was nice. The bathroom had no fan, and the towels were too small for grown-ups. The maids barged in at 8:30 am without knocking, and it was our first day of a two-day stay. After hanging the "Do not disturb" sign and heading out for the day, we returned to find that the maids had entered the room and made the beds! This was a blatant disregard for our privacy. I paid 489 per night for the Labor Day weekend. As a former Marine, I would expect some integrity.

Loved it here, right off the freeway and it feels secluded but very close to downtown Santa Cruz. The restaurant was great and very convenient to have there. High ceilings in the room made it feel spacious and very clean!

The restaurant is amazing! Great food. The rooms were spacious and clean. Unfortunately the pool was closed for maintenance and there is no jacuzzi. The next door neighbors were loud all night...arguing and loud music. When we called the front desk they came and quieted them down, but they started up again right after.

Cute little hotel RIGHT off the freeway (very convenient). Quick drive to UCSC and downtown. Quiet, cozy. Was confusing to find the front desk but had to walk through the outdoor patio/restaurant and there it was! Parking was easy and free!

It was a nice quiet place. All single level. Was perfect since I have a bad knee. Easy parking and right off the freeway exit. Minutes to the beach area. Very roomy shower. Toilet is very close to the wall and bathroom door. We enjoyed the courtyard. There is a nice bar and grill on the property as well.

My family and myself went on vacation and when we arrived at the hotel the pool was out of order. Then when I got my room it was not what I booked. I booked a king suite with a fireplace. What I got was two queen suite with no fireplace. When I went back to the front desk the girl told me that they gave my room away and this is all they had. I was so mad about this, I almost left. She said the manager gave my room away and the manager was not there. The room itself was dirty. The bathroom had left over hair on the floor and walls. Overall I was very disappointed!

It was a pleasant stay - coffee in the morning a plus.

The biggest disappointment was the pool closure—there was no notice when we booked or at check-in. We only found out after getting ready and walking to the pool on Saturday. A sign was posted at the front desk by checkout, but better communication upfront would have helped. We booked two queens since that was all that showed available, but I had planned to ask for a king. Check-in felt rushed and uninviting, so I didn’t feel comfortable asking. Later, I checked the website and saw king rooms were available, which was frustrating. The front desk staff was polite but not very informative. Our room was in a back corner near a maintenance area, and the parking lot was muddy—it didn’t have the same well-kept feel as the rest of the hotel. That said, the restaurant was fantastic. The staff was warm and attentive, the food and drinks were great, and happy hour pricing was a highlight. Overall, we still like The Inn at Pasatiempo, but this stay lacked the special touch we’d hoped for on our anniversary. Better communication and a more welcoming experience would have made a big difference.

Down to earth, not pretentious but cozy!

It's a good and inexpensive option if you just need a night to crash. Beds are comfortable, rooms and bathrooms clean. Will stay there again as close enough to UCSC

Santa Cruz but in a quiet spot free of traffic noise and tourist swarms

The area around the location is so lovely and peaceful. The inn provided easy accessible parking right outside our room. Being only a few minutes away from downtown Santa Cruz was a huge plus!

Have stayed here before and the location right by the golf course is our main attraction. Restaurant at the hotel is very good and reasonably priced. Staff is very friendly and professional.

Pretty outdated property, unimpressive food quality at the restaurant. Pictures made it look a lot nicer. Would not stay there again for what they are asking for price-wise over a weekend.

Great location, close to the city, but feels like you're in the woods (you are). Room was clean, updated and comfortable. The coffee in the lobby was good.

Restaurant- very good. Lobby - nice. Room - clean. Bed- good. Thin walls, can easily hear neighbors. Little space to put your stuff, even though room is large. Few shelves or drawers - shelves they do have are filled with their stuff for the room. Nowhere to put anything in bathroom - not even a hook on the door. I felt like the room was more akin to an upgraded Motel 6 than what I expected. Parking spaces in front of rooms narrow, however lots of other parking available. I feel like it was not good, not bad, just ok. I might go back (family in the area), however I will take a look at others first to see if there is abetted value for the money spent.

The restaurant at the hotel was great and the staff were very helpful. It is close to the highway but not noisy so it was convenient.

Not quite what I expected from the advertising. Essentially a motel, limited grounds to enjoy. Maintenance could be better. Looks like old double bed platforms were used - despite current bed was a queen with box spring on old smaller platform - making for a very high climb into the bed. Thin walls. For $345/night, wasn't worth it.

We have stayed at the Pasatiempo Inn before and found it to be very relaxing. Although the Inn is still a nice place to stay, we didn't enjoy building section 100 this time. The section of the parking lot was not clean nor no landscaping. The back where our room was had no landscaping or an enjoyable area to sit. Continental breakfast was mediocre and coffee wasn't ready the first morning. I will stay again but request to stay in building 200.
