SureStay Hotel by Best Western Santa Monica

I asked for an upstairs room when I made my reservations but was put in a downstairs handicap room with short closets, a light that went on every time you entered the bathroom even in the middle of the night but turned off when I was in the shower. Only one plug in by bed and no plug by the desk. And we did not get our wake-up call so we were late to our granddaughters graduation. And the people up stairs must have checked in very late because they dropped what sounded like a heavy metal suitcase repeatedly on the stairs going up and on the floor of their room. Around 2:30am.

The property supplies a complementary breakfast, basic but ample I didn’t realise the distance from Santa Monica but we just used local transport to get around

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the neighborhood. Great food, drinks, and coffee nearby. Close to Santa Monica Pier as well. AC in our first room did not work. Staff accommodated us with another room with an ice cold AC.

The location is very good The breakfast is a little poor, we don't have so many options and no scrambled eggs. No big deal, but it's not nice walk from the parking lot to the rooms passing by the street. The room size is quite small.

Very solid, quite spacious, well located...it's a little dated, but it's been well maintained. It was way better inside that I would have expected when checking in.

Love the staff here. There is no elevator so just be aware of that. Overall a great time.

Parking was $11 per night. Good teriyaki chicken on Pico, cannot remember the name but just a few mins drive from hotel.

When we entered the room there was a mold smell and the toilet was bad I urinated #1 flushed and it over flowed bad plumbing in building I had to get a plunger from the front office because there wasn't one available it was late night so no matinence I had to figure it out myself was frustrated

This was the perfect hotel for me. The hotel rooms are quite spacious and clean. The rooms are cleaned every day. Parking is a very reasonable 11 bucks which is way below the 65 at most downtown hotels. I would not say too many good things about breakfast. I saved enough money on the room to pay for a good breakfast. The hotel is less than 3 miles from downtown. There are lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. Overall a great place and one of the best values for your money!

The bed was really comfy and our hotel was in a cute little courtyard. Staff was friendly and the the hotel was walking distance to some restaurants and a Trader Joe’s. My only complaint is that the breakfast was not that good and the coffee was awful.

Clean room. Good bed. Property consisted of 4 buildings. Office is only in 1. So is breakfast, which was good. Plenty of parking by each building. Each building has locked entry gates which made me wonder if atea was not safe. We didn't have any isdues though. There is a limited amount of ADA rooms so if you cannot do stairs I suggest you request one of those rooms because entry courtyard has stairs.

We stayed at SureStay for 2 nights. I will say right off the bat that the gentleman who was working at the front desk the night we checked in and the morning that we checked out was very friendly and respectful. He gets 5/5 stars. As for the room itself, we were a little disappointed in the price for the value of what we got. The bed was average but not extra cozy, the pillows were clumpy and not very supportive and there was no mini fridge or microwave in the room at all. The room was a decent size for 2 people but any more and it would have been horribly cramped. We were on the second floor and certain areas of our floor creaked, so I felt really bad if there were people in the room below us because it was really bad right in front of our sink/bathroom area so if we were brushing our teeth or needing to walk to the bathroom it would make a lot of noise. The hotel is located in a very convenient area (Trader Joe's is a 2 minute walk down the road and lots of restaurants around too).

Auto shade that opened to the street was difficult to close and early morning opened by itself and room was facing the busy road at the front of the building. After opening I was not able to close and so did not have privacy Cleaning staff entered the room at 11:03 as I was wheeling my suitcase to the door Unable to wait inside the building for my ride pickup at 11:10 as the floor was being mopped

The complimentary breakfast is enough to get you started on your day, don’t expect it to be something it’s not.

Breakfast was okay. I left two brochures in my room. The cleaning staff removed it and brought to a front desk. That was very strange. Never happen to e anywhere before. I thought that was very strange. When I couldn't find the brochures. I called the front desk and they told me they had it. Housekeeper should not remove something belong to the guests.

The hotel buildings are older, but the rooms are nicely remodeled. I stayed in the building with the center courtyard...it reminded me of the TV show Melrose Place. Room was nice and clean and remodeled in a nice modern design. Breakfast was adequate. No hot food except a pancake machine. Staff was super nice. They do charge for parking in their lot.

Totally disappointed with room , and bathroom so small with sink next to bed, staff was helpful and breakfast was good as well.

Really nice hotel room was clean and modern I was in room 201 it had a huge bathroom. Very clean sheets & towels looked like they were new. There’s plenty of parking. Though the lots are very narrow. The area is nice and somewhat quiet. You can start your day with a quick breakfast option offered by the hotel or walk to one of the restaurants nearby. It offers a covenient location to the beaches, the Getty and other areas around Los Angeles.

Rooms were simple but clean. Climate control was good. Breakfast included pancakes.

Clean room, very comfortable bed, the location was perfect for us - good to explore Santa Monica and to head into Beverly Hills, and Hollywood from there. There is a bus stop for BigBlueBus number 7 not far from the hotel. The staff was very friendly.

The room was moderately clean, found some dust on the light in the bathroom but besides that everything was top notch!

We had a fantastic experience with the staff at this hotel. The rooms were cleaned expertly and the staff was so accommodating and helpful when we had travel difficulties. I would highly recommend this hotel to others traveling to the Santa Monica area. The location of the hotel was great for vacationers as we had various sightseeing interests in the area. I cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism of the staff and how they made our stay like a home away from home.

Honestly, the staff was great. Check in was easy, property is safe and a good location. The only thing I will say is there was a bunch of small ants in the bathroom area. This just made me feel like it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. I work in property management so I know these things can happen. It is not something that would detour me from staying here again in the future but it is something that needs to be addressed and resolved.

Rooms are really clean and of a reasonable size. The staffs took care to clean the courtyard area and our room every single day, which I appreciated. Area around the hotel is quiet and peaceful. They also have gates to enter some of the hotel room buildings, which makes it extra safe. Only thing is that we could hear footsteps from the room above us during night, but personally that was not a big issue. Breakfast could be better with food served warm. But considering the price, it was overall a pleasant experience.

The location was pretty central. My Husband & i were on an upper floor & it kinda sucked carrying suitcases up all the stairs. The rooms off the courtyard are really nice- a little bit of extra security. It looked like the other rooms opened right into the parking lots. Parking was reasonably priced.

I had a fantastic stay at the SureStay in Santa Monica. The location is perfect—close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping, making it easy to explore the area. The rooms were oddly configured -- beds against the hallway wall, bathroom sinks beside one of the beds. Overpriced for what it is. Not sure I'd stay there again, nor recommend it.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was extremely clean and well-appointed. The only issue I could find was that there was no soap in the dispenser in the shower, other than that, no complaints whatsoever. If that's the only thing I have to complain about then it's a good thing. Very nice hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was surprisingly spacious. We loved the little kitchen type area. The courtyard was very nice and well maintained. There was a good breakfast selection and the hotel was right next door to my favorite grocery store.

Nice sized clean room in a walkable neighborhood with a Trader Joe's next door. My room had a jacuzzi tub, small fridge, microwave and coffee pot. Continental breakfast was adequate -- I was glad to find gluten-free bread to make toast.

The stay was impressive! The room was clean and the location was perfect — central to everything by car, with McDonald's and a grocery store within easy walking distance. We felt completely safe, and parking was reasonably priced at just $10 per day.

The room was clean and well appointed, with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. There was a sensor light in the bathroom so middle of the night trips brightened the entire space. I was unable to figure out how to change that. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was basic but included fresh fruit which is always a bonus. There is no elevator which may be a deterrent to some. Overall a decent and affordable choice in an expensive part of LA.

this is the 4th time we have stayed here and will be going back for Anniversary or Birthday Celebrations.

The description also says it’s 4 minutes from the pier and UCLA and that is a fabrication. It’s a minimum 15 minute drive IF there’s no traffic. It took me 30 minutes one way to UCLA and I never made it to the beach. You have to leave your building and walk down the street to get to the front office. Another inconvenience. For the price, I was very disappointed and will not be staying here again.

Horrible experience. Arrived from a 6 am flight and they put me in a room where they were laying carpet upstairs. Employee in the front was rude from the moment we walked in. Tub didn’t work. Breakfast was basic.

Good room, as advertised. However photos are very misleading, giving the impression of a courtyard, and we apparently had not booked to have a courtyard room. There is no way one would have pictured the building we were in from the posting. Staff v unhelpful on this point, and seemed to acknowledge this was the case but blamed Expedia for the misrepresentation.

Fairly basic, average hotel around 2.5 miles out from the Santa Monica sea front. Breakfast was provided, which was limited but adequate to start the day. Room was small with minimal storage space but ok for a couple of days stay. Hotel was kept clean & tidy. There was free parking at the hotel. There was a good regular bus service on the number 7 to downtown from outside the hotel.

Not enough packing

This was our third stay in the past 2 years. The first two times we were in the courtyard in a room with kitchenette. Those stays were okay. This last time, just two weeks ago, we were put in building 2, without a courtyard and it wasn't so great. The courtyard has a locked gate from the street for added security, building 2 does not. The continental breakfast is pretty meh. I learned they will start charging $10 a night for parking in July. We will probably explore other options the next time we make the trek down to LA.

Property doesn’t look like much from outside but courtyard is lovely, the rooms are very clean, beds are comfy and the shower is great. Very convenient to the freeway, central location, free parking is a huge benefit. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Solo female traveler. The street in front of the hotel was immaculately clean, which is not typical of many parts of Los Angeles. The hotel was spotless as well. I felt perfectly safe walking to Trader Joe’s and to the Expo Bundy train station.

Staff was really friendly and check in was easy. Really convenient spot only 13 minutes from the beach and probably about 35 minutes from universal studios depending on traffic. As for the rooms it was very clean and comfortable carpets definitely outdated and before we started the ac room had a little bit of a mothball smell but once ac started smell went away. Parking was very convenient and free. Overall great stay would definitely stay again.

Overall it was ok. The carpet in my room was nasty and had a bad smell. I had to keep the ac on low or the room would get stuffy and start to smell. It’s old worn out stained carpet. However, the breakfast and staff were nice. I, however, wouldn’t stay there again.

The hotel was in the perfect location to enjoy the ocean. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was not anything special, but it was nice in the area was very clean with a good selection.

The outside of the hotel was disgusting. I refused to stay here for the safety of my family and I, and of course, the hotel nor Expedia didn’t refund me for my room. DO NOT STAY HERE

everything was great, the only problem is that is really noisy, if someone is walking you can hear them, or noise on the other rooms (just TV), if you are ok with that its a great option

Clean, serviceable, decent breakfast, friendly staff. Only complaints were the cleaning staff started very early and were very loud and I had a window that would not lock- though it had a bar that kept it from fully opening it still made me a little uncomfortable on the ground floor as a solo traveler. I only discovered it well after midnight as I got ready for bed.

The property is conveniently located close to the restaurants , freeway and shopping mall . You cannot compare it with a 5 star hotel . It was good for the price paid , staff were lovely and helpful . Breakfast average .

Our trip was abbreviated by the Palisades Fire. The night we spent there was excellent in spite of the developing situation. They were very accomodating and allowed us to cancel our remaining days without penalty. We will stay there again.

This property was perfect for our stay in Santa Monica with regards to cost, cleanliness and staff were great. We had hired a car and so glad we did as the location of the property was not really located close to anything if you don’t have transport. With the car we had a fabulous time and this hotel was a great base.

It was okay. Strong cleaning chemical smell in room and very limited breakfast options. It was fine for a couple of nights. Nothing to write home about. Friendly staff.

Nice quiet and clean

It’s not an 8 place, at most 6-7. It’s like an old rundown-ish motel with thin walls. Slightest street noise or neighbors walking is loudly audible. Courtyard gates are horribly crude gray painted steel doors with lock. It is very disturbing.It gives an impression at least it did to me and my daughter that you are in a dangerous neighborhood.

Room wasn’t ready so they upgraded to first floor corner room. Bottom and side of door not sealed and cold air coming into room. Closet smelled bad.

It was very nice, nothing exceptional but comfortable. We appreciate turning our king bedroom in to two double beds at the last “minute” too.

Reception staff made my day when they checked me in smoothly even when i arrived a day late due to delayed flight. The cleaning staffs was on time everyday and make the room clean and tidy as it was when checked in. The breakfast was nice. Overall a very pleasant and wonderful stay.

Nice place in the heart of SaMo

Checkin was seamless and easy. Staff were very friendly. Room was big enough for 3 travellers and very comfortable beds. The Main Street is very noisy so not ideal for light sleepers. Otherwise, good value.
