Reviews
The hotel reviews indicate a general sentiment of dissatisfaction, with many guests expressing disappointment in the condition of the rooms and facilities. The hotel appears to have gone downhill since some guests' previous stays.
- Quick response to room change request
- Beautiful pool/atrium area
- Inconsistent stories about pool closure
- Rooms in need of repair and updates
- 2/5
They were quick to change our room when we found that the heat didn’t work but they had the pool area closed for quite some time and each staff member had a different story as to why. I stayed at this property 9 months ago and it has gone severely downhill since.
- 2/5
They do not have a restraint or bar. Pool or in order. Manager seemed more interested in her conversation with other employee who was trying to check us in. Said they had laundry. Notta. Daughter asked about laundry facility. Front desk replied. What do you need that for?
- 3/5
The pool/atrium area is beautiful, but it ends there. Sadly this oversized property is what happens after a town dies. Carpets were wet from roof leaks, rooms were in serious need of repairs and updates, but staff seemed to be doing their best to make things feel better.
- 2/5
Lobby looks great & that's it. Room was in poor condition. A loud high pitched humming noise through bathroom vent heard all night...I couldn't sleep at all.
- 3/5
I would not recomend this place to anyone, in its current condition.
- 3/5
For 1 night it’s fine
- 2/5
Cold shower, tub would not drain, Bed linens had stains, parking lot full of ice some areas you could not even drive on. Towels were yellowed. Bar and restaurant were both closed until further notice.
- 3/5
Overall hotel was nice. A bit dated but for the charge we did expect that. My only big issue was around the pool area there were several unsupervised kids that decided to run laps up and down the hallway almost running into me as I left my room. I just wish the hotel mgmt would monitor that area to try and control situations like that better. Would stay again when in the area.
- 1/5
The sink was full of gunk, the shower was freezing cold, there was no fridge, it was deserted, locating the room was a mess, and the blankets were so thin I was shivering all night. I felt like micheal myers would jump out at me in there. Never staying again.
- 4/5
Last minute stop during a trip halting snowstorm. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Desk service was fast and helpful. Morning weather clean up staff was friendly. Unfortunate that dining facilities have limited open hours/days as there was no way I was making another trip out.
- 1/5
It absolutely sucked! Those photos are completely misleading. Under no circumstances should this place be on your site! I am very angry!
- 1/5
I'm royally pissed about the money I spent!
- 2/5
Pictures do not come close to matching advertising. Comforters are old 80’s style blankets with sheets that do not fit bedding. Two small towels with no wash clothes. Room is cold and has a heater from 1970 something. Just not even close to pictures nor up to the standards of the start rating. I would give it one star. They lady who checked us in was very nice. Although we had to walk back three times because keys did not work for room and had to move us to another.
- 1/5
Check in took way too long. Poor desk agent was in week 1 by herself on a night when there was a wedding going on. Naturally it took her longer to complete tasks and she often had questions. The other gal there, maybe a manager or supervisor, was helping her but twice made it known to those of us waiting at the desk that she was off the clock and so couldn’t help in some ways. Finally got my room, 2nd floor. Keys didn’t work. Back down to the desk. Making new keys was an adventure. Back upstairs and still not working. Manager off the clock gal went up with me to discover the door was locked out. She used her master and then my keys worked. Rooms are older. Beds are awful, squeaky. Towels way too small and old. Free WiFi is a plus. No free water though. Not sure if there’s a bar or restaurant open on site. Never saw one. Bar was closed on a Saturday night with a wedding going on. Room was right near the washer / dryer. Made for hearing a lot of conversations outside my door - at 2am, 4am you name it. Wedding parties tend to be up late so that was a joy on night 1. The drunken argument was especially fun (not). It’s Rockford so grading on a curve, this is probably one of the bigger and “nicer” options but it leaves a lot to be desired. I won’t return
- 2/5
The room was clean. My key cards didn’t work because the lock reader was dirty. The roof was leaking in several areas of the common area. Weeds grew everywhere, they obviously don’t own a weed wacker They opened up the continental breakfast a half hour late The front desk staff made us wait while they finished their cigarette break
- 3/5
I choose the hotel because it was close to the racetrack and it had a bar inside the hotel .....staff was very nice but the rooms need updating extremely and the bar was closed both nights we stayed ....
- 3/5
Very close to Beloit College, staff very friendly, but hotel rooms looked a little run down. Bathroom tub was clogged and didn’t drain properly. Room window faces walkway/hallway so you have to keep the curtains closed otherwise there is no privacy. However, bed was comfortable and I slept well.
- 4/5
Pool was cold. But estimating else was good
- 1/5
Place is outdated and dirty.
- 2/5
So much updating to be done to the hotel which would have made it so much better. The bedding and towels were extremely old, they had a grey tint to them from being so overused. We had 4 people staying in our room, however we had 3 towels and 1 washcloth. The pool looks amazing on the website, however the heater was broke and was ice cold. It was a place to stay, but I can say we won't be staying there again.
- 3/5
It was very run down. The lobby was pretty good but everything else was lacking. The fridge didn't work so we asked at the front desk but were told it wasn't a refrigerator but a chiller, despite saying fridge on the unit itself. The bathroom door didn't close and carpet was very frayed.
- 3/5
This hotel was okay. The only reason we stayed was becasue it was the only hotel available closest to Rockford (20 min) on a very busy weekend. There isn’t much around the hotel but a Denys a few gas stations and a family restarraunt. The lobby is nice and pretty updated. As for the rooms they’re a bit outdated but they do the job. But no mini fridge or microwave. We also got the wrong room. We got two queen beds when we were suppose to get one king bed. It was awkward. And when I called the front desk I only got an I’m sorry. Nothing else was done. So overall this hotel is just okay.
- 2/5
The room smelled, was old & dingy. The towels were worn. Housekeeping cleaning was poor. There were fruit flies everywhere!
- 2/5
Looks super sketchy from the outside, hotel is need of some serious landscape up keep, room was so so, bed was ok but blankets have been there for 20 years, place was not at all what it looked like in the pictures.
- 2/5
We found dead crickets in the room. It was also about 95 in the room when we checked in. There was only one washcloth and one hand towel in the room.
- 2/5
The hotel was ok. Bathroom needed work. Tiles needed new grout. Comforter was super old. Felt dirty. Fridge froze beverages. Hair dryer was bad.
- 2/5
The halls and rooms are outdated and seedy. There is an overwhelming smell of chemical cleaners. Did not want to shower there, walk barefoot, or do anything other than sleep after a long drive. For what I spent, we could have had equal or better with a motel. Wish I had some pictures...odd stains on walls and carpets here and there.
- 5/5
It was a great hotel to stay at and the swimming pool is really nice. The rooms are quiet and it was great sleeping. There is some where visible in the hotel but they are in the process of renovating the whole thing and overall it’s a great place to stay
- 1/5
I did not like the way the hotel looked on tbe outside. Too many weeds and the landscaping is not taken care of. The lobby and pool area were nice. The rooms needed alot of updating and the bedding wad terrible. The once white towels were gray and dirty looking. Sarah the front desk clerk was very gracious and kind.
- 2/5
The hotel rooms haven’t been updated much since I stayed there 35 years ago. We had an ok experience but wouldn’t stay again
- 4/5
Oh well!
- 1/5
Filthy nonthing worked even the pool area was filthy no towels for pool even after asking o towels
- 2/5
Door key did not work, air conditioner did not work had to ask 2 times to move rooms, when we finally got new room in was smaller beds not what we paid for.
- 2/5
First room we were in the carpet was wet- told staff and they moved us rooms. The second room didn’t have a microwave like the first did. The beding was on its last leg- very worn. The first night in the room I saw a bug on the bed side table. The toilet ran all night and woke me up a couple of times. The shower did not drain. My boyfriend thought the bathroom smelled like bo. The key cards they gave us- did not work, had to get the housekeeping staff to get us into the room. Then my boyfriend went to the continental breakfast on Sunday- they only serve it on the weekends and he said it was the worst continental breakfast he has ever seen and he got sausage and said that it was not cooked through. He spit it out. Never again. Definitely not worth the price at all. Don’t waste your money here!
- 1/5
The pictures here do not represent what this hotel actually looks like. It is broken down and in horrible shape. I would not stay here ever again.
- 3/5
Our air conditioner was on “full blast” but was not capable of totally cooling the room to an ideal temperature, probably because the room was facing the entirely-windowed hallway which faced the sun and was always sweltering hot. Beds were supposedly queen size but they were teeny and we felt cramped, so I highly doubt that’s what they were. Hard mattress and single pillow per person (when two people to a bed) left us with aches and pains in the morning! Also wish the breakfast buffet had more options. It serves well for a safe, clean place to stay, just wish the room was more comfortable so we weren’t wishing to go home so badly!
- 3/5
No shampoo and conditioner. Older and a little run down, but mostly clean. Didn't seem to be many helpers, same person at the front desk for 48 hours straight
- 2/5
What a disappointing stay. The parking lot and building are run-down, to say the least. The AC hardly blew enough air to keep the room temperate, the door on the room did not lock (could only use the chain), there were dead insects on the floor in the bathroom. Had there been ANY OTHER place to sleep in town, other than in our car, we would have selected it. And the kicker -- when we left the hotel we got to walk through a plume of smoke that was being generated by three employees smoking outside the front door.
- 1/5
Old, dirty, run down, falling apart, dated, smells like smoke. Only use for last minute desperation
- 4/5
Very nice staff. Clean pool area. Rooms nice and clean
- 2/5
The hotel needs a makeover. Definitely overpaid for the conditions.
- 3/5
Room was not as shown on internet amenities were very little. Did not serve Breakfest on Monday’s. Outside of Hotel not maintained
- 2/5
First, was improper advertising. There are no single queen rooms. They either have king or double rooms. Second, there is no customer elevator available. So it is not handicap friendly. Third, extremely small bathrooms. Barely big enough to turn around in. Fourth, there is no microwaves in The rooms. The only one was in the lobby. The only good things was the employees were very helpful in adjusting accommodations.
- 5/5
The only problem I had was no refrig in our room. All that took was a quick visit to the desk, and when we came back from dinner, it was there. The girl at the front desk couldn't have beencuter, nicer, and more helpful. She was an absolute angel!
- 3/5
There was a pool inside, but the temperature of the water was extremely cool. The three-dozen rowdy kids in the pool didn't seem to mind the cold. We weren't the only adults who commented on how cold the water was. The hotel looks dated and could use a whole lot of attention to maintenance. Bathrooms are very cramped and the decor is rather spartan. For what they charge, there are probably a lot better options for the money in the area.
- 2/5
It needs to be repaired, cleaned and updated. Breakfast was done by 9 am and we were late and didn’t get breakfast. It should be served until 10am like other hotels. Would not recommend!
- 1/5
Hotel was older room was not the same as the pictures. And hotel is not worth the price per night
- 3/5
Not worth the price. Hotel staff was nice ,but the rooms themselves where not the best. Bathroom tiny and stains on toilet and in shower. Good enough for last minute over night stay.
- 4/5
Stayed for a softball tourney. Great for the kids. Nice pool area. Good customer service.
- 3/5
MANAGER ON DUTY WAS NOT VERY PLEASANT. NO VIEW OF POOL THAT WAS REQUESTED. PILLOWS HARD AS BRICKS. BEDDING AND FURNITURE NEED UPDATES. BATHROOM TOILET WOULD NOT STOP RUNNING. WATER BACKED UP WHEN TAKING SHOWER. JUST OVERALL THIS PLACE NEEDS REVAMPING. EGGS TASTED LIKE CARDBOARD. ONLY GOOD THING WAS THE POOL AND HOT TUB.
- 2/5
We booked a room with a Single Queen bed and were given a room with two Full beds. Front desk staff insisted that they had no Single Queen rooms in the entire hotel, and Hotels.com website was wrong. They ALSO insisted that they had no Full Size beds in the hotel and what we had were two Queen Size beds. The insistence that I was wrong - even though we use a Queen size bed at home and could easily tell the difference - was off-putting, to say the least. The free breakfast was nice with scrambled eggs and sausage, available, and a nice alternative to the usual Continental breakfast fare. Our room was at the far side of a corridor and we were shown where parking and that entrance was. Unfortunately, when arriving back late in the evening, you cannot USE anything other than the main entrance, making accessing your car and room a pain, late at night. We got around this by having one of us go through the main entrance and then opening our closest door for the other after parking the car. The bar and restaurant are not open so we couldn't use it. The pool looked very nice - we didn't use it. This hotel was in a convenient location for events we were attending in Beloit, and has easy access to the Interstate and other highways. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable, but cramped since they were only a Full size. Most staff was friendly. Didn't bother with having housekeeping services for our two night stay.
- 3/5
I think the hotel could use some updating & some of the desk staff could be a bit more helpful. The linen & bedding was a little worn which in opinion could be changed.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel for the price. Room is spacious and comfortable. Air conditioning could be better.
- 2/5
Bathroom door would not close at all, even tried to force it. The tv was broken and twice in the middle of the night no one was at the front desk or in the morning when we tried to check out.
- 3/5
In general it was a decent hotel. The rooms were very dated, bathroom was small, and there were stains on the carpet and chair. Breakfast was very smal/minimal options. But, you get what you pay for. The bed was comfortable, the pool was huge, and the staff were super nice.
- 3/5
The price I paid was pretty high and there wasn’t even a fridge in the room. The shower head was broken and made a very loud noise when used. They had a restaurant but was not open. Overall wasn’t happy.
- 2/5
- One of the beds had blood on the mattress - when we called to see if we could get late checkout since we had a late flight, we continually tried to call from 9 am until almost 11, no one at the front desk answered. When we went down to the front desk, we finally found someone. We menitined we have been trying to call for over an hour. The person at the desk said "too bad, we have other things to do" - we told them about the blood and they blew us off - the hotel was in need of a cleaning for sure
- 3/5
I had a brief stay but I'm used to staying in nicer hotels so this seemed to be a bit of a risk for me
- 4/5
Our stay overall was great. The only complaint was that there were young children in the hot tub area and made it a little difficult to enjoy. It definitely needs an elevator lol. I have difficulty with mobility and had trouble navigating the stairs.
- 4/5
He seemed to be annoyed by the situation and took 2 and took other phone calls and had me wait in both instances. After checking in and being handed my room key, he said, " Ok, there you go." I asked what room we were in and his response was, "It's written on the back of the key card envelope" I wasn't aware I was to already know that.......
- 3/5
The pool is too noisy. The kids screaming till 3am in the morning, the hotel should really regulate this if it’s open pool near to the rooms
- 5/5
The pool and hot tub are amazing!
- 2/5
Well door was hard to open... no food onsite... Would not change my room for me since I said I wanted pool side and didn't get poolside
- 1/5
For one I was charged not once but three times by this hotel. Half of the doors didn’t work to get in hotel, they do not secure the hotel at night so anybody can just walk right in. The outside looks like a dump. The bar and restaurant weren’t open and it was a Saturday night.
- 2/5
Hotel pool was amazing... staff did irritate me by moving me off base floor, but hotel looked much better on inside and pool makes it the stay u want
- 5/5
Our bathroom needed some small repairs, but otherwise the room was great! Breakfast was included, as well! We will definitely stay here again when visiting Rockford!
- 4/5
Good Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable pool sizes awesome nice jacuzzi complimentary breakfast serves well but should have four the guest through the week other than that I really enjoyed my stay
- 5/5
I enjoyed this hotel, the front desk staff were kind and helpful, the lobby is beautiful, the exercise room overlooks the pool which is so much fun, the arcade room was an absolute delight!!
- 2/5
This hotel is in need of some real TLC. It smells musty and old, and needs to be repainted. The parking lots were only partially cleared of snow, and some of it would have been inaccessible with a regular car. My biggest surprise came when I walked in from the outside into the hallway near my room to find the carpet soaked, and the paint peeling off of the pillars from the roof leaking. The front desk staff seemed surprised by this, but it obviously has been leaking for some time, as paint does not bubble and peel overnight. They also advertise a restaurant in the property, but it is currently closed. Also, no coffee in the lobby, which is usually standard at any hotel.
- 2/5
There was no one in the entire hotel. It is a huge place, smells bad, and should not be on any recommended list ever.
- 3/5
The only issue I had there business was evolving around the weekend. There was only 6 rooms book that week so that big hotel was like a ghost town. Everything was close inside that hotel their business revolves around the weekend what I was told.
- 1/5
Rude staff Teenagers making out in common areas Terrible breakfast Dirty pool Vomit outside the door..staff was notified three times and they never cleaned it up
- 1/5
There was no heat in the hallway. Literally standing snow and ice. Noise until after 1 am. Would never return.
- 4/5
The heater in the room could use an upgrade (never seen one like that in a hotel before). I wish the fitness area was open 24 hr but given the location, I guess I can see why. The door closest to our room didn't work with our hotel keys so that could be a problem especially in the wintertime. Other than that, there wasn't much we didn't like given our time there. Oh yeah, where were the champagne bottle and wine glasses that were advertised in the hotel photos lol.
- 3/5
The hotel seems very nice and appears clean. The hotel room door was malfunctioning. The key card did not work so we had to get new keys. While waiting, a nice service man let me into my room but his keys did not work either...he literally had to swipe the card up and down about 5 times before it worked. The door after being unlocked had to be forced open hard as there was a piece of metal sticking out that made it hard to open the door. It's an older hotel so it's dated but it was clean. There is a sign that says there is a Bar and Grill there - couldn't locate it, couldn't find it and the bar that we did find - no one was in it - door open booze at the bar, no one working. There appeared to be only 2 people working the front desk and were hard to find.
- 4/5
Just needed some quiet time and it was a nice place to enjoy it!!
- 4/5
Upon arrival I was struck by the shabby condition of the landscaping. Everything was overgrown and dead. The inside of the hotel was a different story. The lobby was very pleasing and updated. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool area is beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
This place is amazing I love the set up it’s so extravagant and luxurious in there I definitely will be visiting this places again
- 2/5
The hotel looked abandoned, the parking lot had grass/weeds taking it over. There was a total of 5 cars in the lot and looks nothing like the pictures. The room’s shower was about 5 feet tall so you had to bend way over to wash your hair and it leaked.... drip drip drip all night long. The refrigerator looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time, broken glass on the dresser. There was one bright spot in all of this blight... the receptionist was very nice.
- 4/5
Room and staff was nice, outside of building needs cleaned up.
- 2/5
This is a below par hotel. Everything was old, sheets, bedspread, towels, furniture, lights. There were stains on the carpeting and furniture. No pictures on the wall. Bed mattresses were old and hard. No refrigerator, coffee maker or microwave. Everything that is considered normal in most rooms now. The only good thing was the room was large. Had to ask for towels, no washcloths.
- 1/5
The first room we were assigned smelled like someone had died in it, was not cleaned, dirty beds, no pillows, hair dryer ripped off the wall. The second room wasn't much better but at least the bed was made(perhaps) and the alarm clock didn't work and the coffee pot was broken. After driving all day and being exhausted we didn't want the hassle of finding another hotel. Oh, also the security guard sat in the pool area yelling at kids all night. Nasty place.
- 1/5
No ice, towels in room Laundered badly, no hot water For shower, bathtub drain clogged. Front desk staff very unhelpful
- 3/5
But the stay was nice and the pool was nice and big. Not saying it's not a place to stay, because I'll go again. Those things should be updated more often though.
- 2/5
No washcloths and the towels were grey and thin. Bathroom door did not close all the way. Failed to tell us upon check in that our keys to door 5 would not work after 9:00 p.m. Therefore we had to drive back to the desk and park there when we returned at 10:00 p.m. Breakfast was a cup of watery coffee and very small, stale sweet rolls that someone had individually wrapped in saran wrap.
- 2/5
Looks like it has been maintained in years. Completely gross place. Worker was sleeping at desk as I was going To check out
- 2/5
First getting there from the looks of it, looked nice but continually had a bad experience in the three days. Was told that the bar inside it was open till 2 am. Go to it on a Saturday night at 10 pm and get told that she’s closing it. Not only a Saturday night but I’m assuming one of their busiest nights because they’re packed from a concert festival. Phone in the room doesn’t even work. Then on Monday morning go to the restraunt for breakfast to find in all closed down because apparently they ran out of food? Nice job planning for the weekend. So In the end I will never stay there again
- 1/5
I cancelled my reservation after the first night. The hotel had bugs!!!!
- 5/5
Great cheap hotel. Don't expect luxury here. It does the job though. Everything was clean
- 3/5
My feet were black from the carpet in the room not being professionally cleaned. Our room wasnt really cleaned like it should be everyday. They had missed the garbage. Staff was wonderful.
- 3/5
I picked this because of the pool and fitness center. The pool was exceptional. Unsupervised kids was a different story. Adults only in sauna and the kids did not obey this and came in and splashed in your face while trying to relax. The fitness center was the same way. I was trying to work out and the kids came in and got everything wet on the equipment and loud and getting in the way of the adults that were using this center. There was a broken treadmill I am assuming due to the lack of respect the kids have. I would like to see a hotel employee walking around and supervising this from happening again. Had a continental breakfast in the restaraunt, and again kids un-supervised in this area, grabbing fruit and wasting what was on their plate, not throwing their plates away, glasses and glasses of milk and juice everywhere. Bar did not open until 6 so that was kind of disapointing. I would suggest 5 so when people are coming in there is that relaxing atmosphere to go to.
- 4/5
Filled the need just fine. Fair price, clean enough, easy to find, not far off the Interstate Hiway, and quiet.
- 5/5
Nice room, pool looked good but I didn't swim.
- 2/5
Staff, unfriendly & creepy, room not ready at check in time, had to call the front desk twice for items that were supposed to be supplied but weren't, temperature was terrible, looked run down & like a creepy motel, not at all worth the $100 we paid. We would have been better off at the Motel 6.
- 3/5
Pool side does not mean looking at the pool. Breakfast was gross coffee with no creamer and a mini muffin.
- 5/5
will be coming back, good staff, security help me with my luggage to the room, late check in everyone was good to me
- 2/5
The hotel is dirty! We had prepaid so we didn't have much of a choice to leave. 1st room was hot, all hand towels were clean but had a dark stain to them. Bed sheets didn't fit the beds. The only difference for the 2nd room was it was cooler. Not a place to spend 4nights in.. won't stay there ever again. We didn't even bother to try the breakfast.
- 3/5
Our first day we came back to a do not disturb sign on our door so they didn't clean. The second day they knocked & asked if we needed service & I said yes we are leaving in a few minutes. The room was me serviced for another day. There was only 2 shower towels & we had to ask several times to bring more, we stayed 4 nights. Also we had to call for our toiletries to be replenished twice & the 3 day thy never sent anyone. We complained to the front desk & finally the room was serviced but still only left 2 towels, there was 4 of us.
- 2/5
Booked 2 double beds for myself and 3 children. They switched our reservation to a King Room (without permission) and had no other rooms available (even though half of the rooms were vacant and our car was literally the only one in the side parking lot). My 14 year old had to sleep in a chair and I had to sleep with a 9 and 11 year old in one bed. Only stayed because we had other family in same hotel who also had similar issues. There were 2 towels and they did not have extras (had to use pool towels). The pool area is dangerous as there is a significant slant to the tile flooring. We had two fairly bad falls. The whole facility is very run down once you get pass the VERY NICE Lobby. (Just don't trip on the multiple vacuum cleaner and extension cords strewn about and definitely do not try to get to the counter while the maintenance man is trying to clean the front counter).
- 3/5
We stayed here for one night. It was worth the price but I wouldn't pay more. The pool area was nice but the room was dated. It was clean though. The bathroom is small.
